Himbos and Beta Males for the WIN!
K-dramas with super sweet, totally dedicated and maybe not the most intellectual of men.
When The Camellia Blooms (Honestly this drama was underrated! The couple is adorable but it's also a really really great drama!)
Dali And The Cocky Prince (I'm actually rewatching this one as we speak. The villains are super annoying but what else is new. Moo Hak LOVES Dali and basically would follow her to the ends of the earth trying to understand art and failing lol. )
Dreaming of a Freaking Fairytale (this short little drama is airing now and literally no one is watching it. It starts off a bit iffy but overall it's super fun. The lead is a literal unhinged idiot who is in love with the FL but cannot admit it. He'll do anything for her and is constantly trying to rescue her but also....So SO Very Cute And Dumb.)
Boys Be Brave! (this bl features maybe one of the cutest himbos ever. This poor sweet kid will do anything to get the attention of the boy he likes (including a tattoo) and he's not even sure he likes him? This drama was great at the beginning and just ok at the end but the couple was very cute.
Tumblr media
Run On (we all know I LOVE this drama!!! The second ML is my bias wrecker for this role. He's a happy go lucky, super funny and cute softy who falls for a CEO and never lets up.)
Extraordinary Attorney Woo (see a theme?? KANG TAE OH! He's not a himbo tho cause he's very smart. Whatever he belongs in this list!!)
Shopping King Louie (One of the favorite k-dramas, a spoiled rich kid with amnesia moves into a small apartment with the only person who can take care of him. SOOOOOO CUTE.)
The Happy Loner (this short little k-drama featuring a little puppy boy was actually really really great! It's only 2 episodes so I don't need to say the plot, you can just watch it! ;-)
Hogu's Love: (Another one of my favorites, Hogu is literally the cutest softest bean just trying to make it in the world and help his love take care of her baby.)
Tumblr media
King The Land (I don't think Junho's character is dumb at work but he's really very dumb with love so it's excellent to see the chemistry. Also, people complained that there wasn't much plot but if you want a sweet and funny rom com with TONS of skinship, kisses and a man who wants to quit his job to help his girlfriend...this is it.)
He is Pyschometric (a poor babygirl who has psychic powers and falls for a cop. I really loved this drama even tho I'm mad about One Thing.)
Fight for My Way (This himbo isn't obsessed with the FL until he realizes his feelings but after that? GAME OVER)
Extraordinary You (We all know the leads are OTP for me. Haru is recognized by Eun Dan Oh and follows her everywhere. He's soft and quiet and is he smart??? Unclear :P)
Enjoy the SOFT!

August has mainly been consumed by moving country, moving job, and moving house so I've not really had any free time to do anything or have any thoughts other than panicked screaming.
That being said, there were plenty of dramas I was looking forward to due to air in August and, luckily for me, most of them did not disappoint! So without further ado, let's take a look at which dramas got me through the mountains of paperwork and stress (and which didn't).
Tumblr media
The Trainee 🇹🇭 👨‍❤️‍👨👩‍❤️‍👨(👩‍❤️‍👩) [10/12]
I'm going to be so sad when this show ends.
It has met and matched all my expectations so far and in terms of its narrative arcs it's absolutely fantastic (as are the characters and their relationships).
This is a show that does have romance in it but which isn't about romance, choosing to focus instead on character development both within and outside of the characters' various relationships. It's done a great job of showcasing the complex period of transition between young adulthood and working adulthood and while I know that's not everyone's cup of tea, it's definitely mine. Slow-burn, character centred, slice-of-life.... Perfection 😘👌
I started watching these next few dramas after I started moving and so really don't have any other capacity for thoughts other than "like" and "don't like". There's not going to be much commentary, just vibes.
Love Next Door 🇰🇷👩‍❤️‍👨 [5/16]
I was looking forward to this one and it's making me very happy so far. I love the bickering, I like the hints at deeper relationship issues and I'm just plain looking forward to whenever a new episode airs.
I'd say the only thing that's giving me pause so far is the second couple, especially Mo-Eun because wtf do you mean "the 5 year old child I just met is actually my new friend"? I don't care that she meant it innocently, that's still a damn weird thing to say.
Romance in the House 🇰🇷👩‍❤️‍👨 [5/12]
Korea has been really knocking it out of the house with mother daughter dramas recently, I want to know what lit the spark now.
Again, I'm enjoying each episode as it comes and I'm looking forward to each new episode so it's a yes from me so far. It's definitely giving me Not Others vibes but given I really like that drama, that's not a criticism.
(Also the award for most complicated family tree goes to Romance in the House but it also manages to make it work?)
Cinderella at 2AM 🇰🇷👩‍❤️‍👨 [2/10]
I saw someone say that a drama where the leads are already together at the start of the drama is lazy but I'm inclined to disagree.
Pretty much every romance has the leads fall in love and get together as the show progresses, there's a tried and tested route map for that (heck there's loads of route maps for that). On the other hand, I can't think of many that start with the couple 2 years into the relationship and, as such, there's probably a lot more work involved in working out how to successfully pull the romance off.
So far I have no complaints and I'm intrigued about where it's actually going to go. It's not particularly deep but it is cute and Shin Hyun Bean is who I'm here for anyway.
Tumblr media
My Sweet Mobster 🇰🇷👩‍❤️‍👨
This was a very cute, very funny watch that still somehow managed to tackle a serious topic with as much care as it could. Could it have delved even further into the topic of restorative criminal justice and rehabilitation? Yes, but not without completely changing the mood. Could it have subverted the "knew each other from childhood" trope and done something new? Yes, but this show wasn't going for reinventing the wheel, it was going for doing the wheel well.
The characters were very likeable, the relationships between them were beautifully written and it was a nice easy watch that I'll probably pick up again some time in the future if I need something fun.
⭐ rating: 8/10
Concrete Utopia 🇰🇷📽️
I watched this with family friends after they very kindly let me stay with them for a week and wanted to watch something with me they thought I'd enjoy. I had never heard of the film before so had no expectations whatsoever but it was a surprisingly deep and timely watch.
It spends a lot of time examining the effects of "othering" as well as asking how much people are willing to excuse, ignore or even participate in in the name of self preservation and there were definitely some scenes that felt barely exaggerated given what's been on the news in recent months.
I wouldn't call it an enjoyable watch (because the consequences of post-apocalyptic dystopias are hardly enjoyable) but it was an interesting one and I'd probably recommend it to a friend looking for a film to watch.
⭐ rating: 7.5
Knock Knock Boys! 🇹🇭👨‍❤️‍👨
I was late picking up Knock Knock Boys! but, once I did, I binged it without any regrets. This was another show that was just cute and fun and very, very good at handling the topics it chose to tackle.
Latte is a new favourite character and Almond, Thanwa, Peak and all the rest all have a little space in my heart now (Jane especially). If anyone wants a comedy/slice of life BL to watch then I'd definitely point them in this dramas direction and them watch them watch it 😋
(also I don't know how but I somehow managed to miss the infamous poo scene everyone was talking about... Which is probably just as well because I don't deal well with scatological humour).
⭐ rating: 7.5/10
Tumblr media
Century of Love 🇹🇭👨‍❤️‍👨 [Dropped]
I'm sad about this one because I was looking forward to catching up with it after I got distracted by Knock Knock Boys but now I'm very grateful for being made to stray. This show had such a promising start but, judging by everything I saw in passing, it dropped the ball hard in the second half.
Given everything else going on right now and the fact that my drama quota is pretty much full up right now, I'm not really interested in investing time in a show that doesn't meet its own potential.
Monster Next Door 🇹🇭👨‍️‍👨 [Dropped]
This had the weirdest pacing of a first episode I've seen in a while and it really threw me off. I just couldn't connect with anything or anyone after the multiple false starts and I wasn't curious to keep trying.
(Also the tortoise tank made me wince every time it was on screen)
(Also yes I know I said I was hyped for this one but I think the idea appealed far more than the reality of it).
Battle of the Writers 🇹🇭👨‍❤️‍👨 [Dropped]
Just a no from me to be honest. I don't think it checked any of the boxes of things I usually enjoy and that's okay.
4Minutes 🇹🇭👨‍❤️‍👨 [On Hold] [4/8]
Don't get me wrong!!! I have loved everything I've seen so far of this drama (I'm up to episode 4). The only reason 4Minutes is here instead of in the "Currently Watching" section is because I wasn't able to keep up with it while I was travelling and I want to give it the right amount of time and attention when I catch up with it.
I'm a little sad I can't join in with the theories but I'm really looking forward to getting back to it when I'm ready!
(Also I finally own a TV after 10 years of not having one and I'm mentally preparing myself for watching it on a big screen, something the first 3 episodes have indicated is a high risk manoeuvre that may involve drawn curtains and a finger on the volume button to avoid questions from my neighbours).
Midnight Romance in Hagwon 🇰🇷👩‍❤️‍👨 [On Hold] [4/16]
Like 4Minutes, this isn't a matter of not enjoying it, this is a matter of time and focus. I couldn't watch it while I was traveling and now I am way too stressed, and thus easily distracted, to give this show the thought and attention it deserves.
It has been a fantastic watch so far though, and the level of detail in each scene was so ridiculously impressive to the point where I was frequently going back to check I hadn't missed any of the nuance 👌
Tumblr media
I barely know what's up now, let alone next so I can't really do this section. That being said, I know I'm hyped for Love In the Big City (🇰🇷👨‍❤️‍👨) and that's airing in October so that's all the really matters at the moment. If anything else comes up that I want to watch, that's a nice little bonus.
(There are other dramas I'm looking forward to - like Kidnap (🇹🇭👨‍❤️‍👨) - but I have no clue when they're airing and I don't have the brain power to check and make a calendar so I'm just going to be pleasantly surprised when they start rather than actively anticipating their release).

Snuck my way into your ask box again to ask you some questions.
What would both Zaris think about the Main ocs? (Both Ultimis and Primis Val, Ji eun, Arthur, and Dragomir)
This may be a long answer to work on for you so sorry about that :'>
@shinmiyovvi I FINALLY GOT THIS DONE! I hope you enjoy this and I had a lot of fun working on this!
Valena: Both Leta and Ria see the Val’s as their older sister ofc! The girls would honestly wish they had a sister like Val growing up, they just wanted to have a sister to rely on and have fun with but their relationship with Mercy was strained even if they tried to repair it when they got older. Ria knows that Licia has a good heart and she always tries her best to make her proud. Now we both know that Ria and Licia can be pretty cold and harsh and as you said in the ask i sent, Ria does get a little hurt when Licia accidently hurts her feelings but she knows that her big sis doesn’t really mean it.
As for Lena and Leta, god these two just make me feel so soft dude. Leta tries to act her usual cold and sarcastic self but she really does appreciate the care Lena shows for her, I can see her being pretty attached to Lena. The genuine care and love that she has for Leta just makes said girl feel seen and appreciated and she’s really glad to have Lena as an older sister. Lena may be protective of her lil sis but Leta is just as protective of her big sis as well.
Ji Eun: Eunji pretty much brings out both Ria and Leta’s soft and caring side. Ria knows that she has a short temper and can be pretty cold and she would feel really bad if she knew that Eunji felt scared around her (Poor girl doesn’t want to be like her asshole of a father) so she would try to calm herself down around her and to comfort her. I honestly think it would be really sweet to see these two trying to comfort each other, like they’re each other's emotional support. Ria is doing her best.
Now for Leta and Ji Eun, oh boy. Leta firstly would not appreciate the name calling much less the latter being mean to her. Leta doesnt even understand the language but she fucking knows she’s being called names. As I’ve mentioned before, Leta is more of a slow boil rather than the instant anger like Ria, so she tries her best to not let Ji Eun’s words bother her and to be civil. But deep down it does bother her when she’s doing her best to do whatever she’s working on and Ji Eun doesn’t ever seem to be satisfied. Leta prides herself in her work, be it as a nurse or even her skill as a markswoman. I really do hope that these two can get along more but as of now, I think these two would be at odds or at the very least tolerate each other.
Arthur: Ria and Leta would actually get along with the Arthur’s! Ria and Arty having a father/daughter relationship supremacy!! I also remember you saying that the Arthur’s were good listeners so I can see Ria feeling comfortable enough to vent to Arty about her frustrations. I also imagine Ria mentioning to Arty how she wished he was her father and how her actual father was an asshole. Both of the beans  just being protective of each other. And yes, Ria would wear the bracelets that Arty made for her and no she’s not taking it off for anyone lmao.
Meanwhile, with Leta and Archie, I’m not sure if the father/daughter would translate over to them but I see them being pretty good friends nonetheless! Archie is just teasing Leta and she’s being witty and sarcastic in response. She just gives him that look and sometimes can’t help but find herself laughing at his antics. If he does however get her pissed, you best know she’ll be chasing after him and yelling at him in Spanish but it’s all in good fun I swear. Imagine Archie bringing Leta a flower bouquet/crown and she just gets all flustered.
Dragomir: Like the Val’s, Ria and Leta see the pretty boys as their big brothers. Ria is pleasantly surprised when she finds out how sweet and kind he can be despite his scary appearance. I think he would be another person that Ria would be comfortable enough to vent to him about her troubles.  Imagine they just talk shit together lol.
Miro and Leta are gonna make me feel soft like her and Lena huh? Miro reminds Leta a lot of her brother, Red, and it makes her both happy and sad. She would probably feel a little guilty at first cuz she doesn’t want to make it seem like she’s replacing her sweet brother but she realizes that she’s not replacing him and that Red would like her to be happy. So she would really look up to Miro like another older brother. These two probably tease each other so much lmao and it’s mostly about who’s prettier. Miro would likely bring out Leta’s softness and caring nature similar to her and Lena! (I would also add that it kinda mirrors how Eunji brings out Ria’s caring heart in the ultimis timeline)

I give you clearance to ramble about whichever OCs you want :> go wild
OK
SO
I have several ocs so I'mma go down the list starting with my Spooky Month ocs. Maybe one day I'll ramble about my Welcome Home ocs too-
(This is every oc but Sasha, since I already rambled about her)
Eun (aka my sona) SO. This is a bit complicated. Eun and their sister somehow made their way to a Catholic orphanage that was established in like, 1960, and still follows most of those rules. Their sister got extremely sick and ended up dying, then Eun befriended a cat and got adopted by Lila after Skid got upset about not being able to have an older sibling before Lila realized... 'Wait holy shit you can-'
Mariana Cross She's one of my lil goth girls who actually loves anything cutecore. Her mom was a werewolf but her dad isn't so a genetic mutation happened and instead of turning every full moon, she just has paws instead of feet. She hangs out with the hauntiest house gang a lot and has a crush on... well, most of them. She's just a sweet little pan bean
Lilliana Cross This is Mariana's older sister. She ended up with her mother's werewolfism but is able to control it far better thanks to growing up with it. She's completely lost use of her arm after (call me cringe) saving John's daughter from the fire after hearing her and seeing the fire while on a walk. She's currently living out of one of her dad's old warehouses and doing the best she can to help people. (She also may or may not be dating Ignacio)
Seraphina Discord Now this bitch. She was originally made for a Captain Bob character AI rp, but I couldn't stop myself. Originally she was made to be a fearless captain who, so far, has fought a terrifying sharklike beast, befriended the shark hybrid, Captain Bob Velseb, and lost her leg to the beast I mentioned earlier. Adapted into other AUs, however, she's that person in the horror movie who kills the monster. Despite her outwardly cold, antisocial, and fearless demeanor, inside she's affectionate... and terrified. She fears what may come after her next...
Jasper Scoreson This is my genderfluid bean, Jasper. They're about the Hatzgang's age and live in a not-so-nice household. He's allowed to dress how he wants inside, but outside he has to dress like a 'proper boy', although she much prefers dressing in more femme clothes. Their house is also very restricting right down to what he's allowed to look up or even eat around his parents.
Juno Henderson She's a bubbly little sweetheart who can easily be described as the girliest of all. She loves everyone and everything, and is my darling lil lesbian bb. Like I love this lil bean sm you have no idea- BUT. But. I can't have a normal oc. That's just not allowed. So she's a cultist, and quite a useful one at that. She's quick and seemingly trustworthy, allowing her to round up sacrifices with ease, whether with persuasion or by force. However she doesn't like doing the sacrificing, leave that to Atticus.
Arina Doiteain Another cultist lesbian girl, but far more butch. Also a massive arsonist, which means her and Ignacio get along not-so-surprisingly well. She sees Juno as a little sister that she must protect at all costs (despite Juno being able to defend herself perfectly fine. But she doesn't mind!) She was actually my second oc that I wanted to impose as a villain but I couldn't do it and just made her a cultist instead

Prologue
“Mama!!!!”
The giggling and squealing of the two little girls, running toward their mother, diverted everyone else’s attention toward them, as the woman engulfed them in a warm hug. “Isn’t that Ms. Park?” “I heard her husband died in an accident!” “Rumors say she divorced him before that!” “Oh no! Poor kids didn’t even get the chance to meet their father!” “I think she was a gold-digger and did that to only have the whole company to herself!”
The whispering and judgemental looks of all the people around her came flooding in like usual, as she held each of her little beans’ hands, and headed towards her car, holding firm to her cold expression, as others’ opinions had long stopped making an effect upon her wisdom.
“Mama?” Eunji, the younger twin, called out, once the three of them settled in the car. “Yes, sweetheart?” Y/n asked back with a sweet smile while pulling out the car on the road as if she had never even heard of all the insults thrown her way previously, “Can we gwab some ice-cweam on our way to Oppa?” Eun Ae, the older sibling said, backing up Eunji.
She sighed, knowing they were being naughty as always, “No! Do you both remember? The last time you had ice cream, you both got a tummy upset and couldn’t go to Ms. Lee’s class for a week?” The girls hmphed, whispering something into each other’s ears, as Y/n clearly heard what they were talking about, even though they were in the back seat. “We pwomise we won’t hab too much thwis time!”
She turned back to her two babies at the red light to see what they were up to and saw both of them pulling out their tiny pinkies toward her. She softly giggled at their cuteness and extended her pinkies too to interlock with theirs. “Ok but only this once, hmm?”
The girls nodded their heads in excitement, “Yesh Mumma! We pwamish!!” They show their heart smiles at her, as it reminded her of her late husband. Slowly, she drifted back to the past, to the very day, her entire world turned upside down.
While still deep in her thoughts, her eyes fell on something, or rather someone. A guy, running in a long, beige overcoat, and dark hair. But she wasn’t even closely bothered by his outfit. “Hoseok?” She immediately shook her head and looked at the same spot.
“Hmm…I guess I’m seeing things again…” she thought to herself. The light soon turned green, as she drove off towards her office, and bought her little munchkins their ice creams on the way.
“No no no no no!!! I’m late!!!” A guy ran through the streets of the big city as fast as his tired feet could carry, to reach his destination, a huge multi-story building. “Where do you think you’re going?” the guard at the gates stopped him when he noticed him running towards the main entrance.
“I…..I have……. a-an…..interview…. yeah, i-interview…” the man replied, trying to make up something, which sounded more like a struggling reply due to his panting as if he had just run a marathon. The guard seemed to buy it and looked at his watch and firmly replied, “Sorry sir but you’re 15 minutes late.”
He cursed under his breath, frustrated and tired of all the running. “Is there no way I can get in then? I have some serious business!!!” he said, voice slightly irritated yet eyes glistening for any kind of positive answer.
The guard felt weirded out at his reply, but decided to help him, “Just wait here. I’ll go inform the reception. Who are you looking f-” before the guard could finish his sentence, the man dragged the former’s hand and placed a piece of paper on it, “Just give this at the reception, they’ll know what to do.”
The guard looked at him suspiciously, yet shrugged his shoulders and went inside. After a while, he came out and guided him inside the classy lobby. “So, what’s your name?” the guard asked the guy, as they entered the elevator. “I’m J-Hope”
Nodding, the guard turned back facing the shut doors of the elevator. Soon they reached their designated floor. “I’ll be fine from here.” Saying so, J-Hope swiftly pressed the ground floor button, while quickly getting off the glass-encased shaft in the very nick, making the elevator go back down before the guard could even have the time to react.
Swiftly walking down the hallway, he reached the largest door on the floor and enter without even knocking. He was met with three other terrified glances, as they soon heaved a sigh of relief, realizing who had come. “Haven’t I told you to knock before entering? Are you planning on staging our deaths next?”
Sighing, J-Hope smiled in a goofy manner, “Sorry guys! I was just a bit too excited to see how far we’ve come already…”

Libros - Mitad de año (Abril, Mayo, Junio)
La segunda parte de la lista <3
Abril:
The Memory Police - Yōko Ogawa : Es un libro peculiar.
This Is How You Lose the Time War -Amal El-Mohtar y Max Gladstone: Es ciencia ficción pero no parece ciencia ficción. Es un libro estructurado en cartas y es sobre vínculos humanos, sobre las ansias de relacionarse con otros. Lo amé, muy personal y lloré mucho (¿sorpresa?).
As Long As the Lemon Trees Grow- Zoulfa Katouh: Es una historia de guerra en Siria.
Mayo:
The ocean at the end of the lane- Neil Gaiman: Amo a Gaiman. Escribe ficción como nadie. Este libro me partió el corazón en pedacitos. Una historia sobre infancia, realidad, olvido, amistad, familia, pérdida y consecuencias. Muy oscuro pero hermoso.
Ursula K. Le Guin: Conversations on Writing: TE AMO LE GUIN. Dios santo. Es un libro de entrevista en el que Le Guin discute con el entrevistador temas de clase, colonialismo, lingüística, género, escritura y ciencia ficción.
Sweet Bean Paste - Durian Sukegawa: Qué hermoso libro.
Neverwhere- Neil Gaiman : Ya he dicho que adoro a Gaiman.
A Psalm for the Wild-Built y A Prayer for the Crown-Shy- Becky Chambers: Mis dos libros favoritos del mes.

All of Us Are Dead
I will gladly jump at the chance to ramble about this show it was SO good
blorbo (favorite character, character I think about the most): Cheong-san!!! My sweet bean just wanted to keep everyone safe 🥺 I refuse to believe he died. Until we get another season and I’m proven other wise I won’t believe it!
scrunkly (my “baby”, character that gives me cuteness aggression, character that is So Shaped): On-jo for sure!! She’s adorable and I’m so glad she survived. I would have been heartbroken otherwise tbh.
scrimblo bimblo (underrated/underappreciated fave): Dae-su AND Woo-jin. Their dynamic was excellent. I loved that Dae-su had a crush on Woo-jin’s older sister and called Woo-jin brother-in-law because of it. What a power move.
glup shitto (obscure fave, character that can appear in the background for 0.2 seconds and I won’t shut up about it for a week): Se-bin the little girl rescued by Jae-ik and Ho-chul. She only had like 5 minutes of screen time total but she was so cute and such a little trouper. I couldn’t imagine being an adult in a zombie apocalypse let alone a CHILD.
poor little meow meow (“problematic”/unpopular/controversial/otherwise pathetic fave): Eun-ji. I cheered when she went after Chul-soo. Would have loved to see her face off against Gwi-nam!! Would have been such justice to see her throw him off the roof or something.
horse plinko (character I would torment for fun, for whatever reason): Gwi-nam >:( He just wouldn’t die aidshgisaghag
eeby deeby (character I would send to superhell): Can I choose Gwi-nam again?? Because I choose Gwi-nam again lmao
send me a fandom maybe please? 👉👈

88. “I’ll see you later.”

This is legit the first gif I’ve EVER made in my life cos I couldn’t find one of Jay looking hot bothered...like mad kinda bothered. Haha. I swear the only reason why I enjoy writing angst is so I can imagine Jay looking hot and shit (is that normal? am I weird??). But he’s such an angel... Like what in the world could he possibly be mad at his girl about??? I know the flow for this one is pretty similar to what I just posted recently, but it’s been in my drafts for a hot minute so I hope y’all enjoy this one nonetheless!
“I’m sorry. Can we please talk?”
You sighed for what felt like the hundredth time of the day, burying your face in your hands as you threw you phone aside, already expecting Jay to ignore your texts again. It’s been two days since you’ve last seen or spoke to him, and the fact that you were going to see him at work in a few hours amidst the silent treatment was already making you dread it.
The thing about Jay was that he wasn’t really one to get angry at anyone but when he did, he’d rather cool off alone while you, on the other hand, preferred to iron things out there and then. Then again, despite the little squabbles over the two years that the both of you had been together, there hasn’t been any particularly huge fight…until your dumbass decided that it was a great idea to get yourself drunk as fuck in front of your boyfriend and his colleagues while they performed at the club that you and your friends were drinking at, that is.
“We can’t dare you to go up there and make out with him, can we?” Your best friend challenged, downing another shot.
“C’mon, what do you think?” You replied, shrugging her off.
“Then it’s no fun, why are we even here if we can’t dare you and Jay to do shit!” Another chimed in.
Your friends were in town for a few days and having not met them for a few years since your graduation in London, you took the opportunity to take them out for dinner where one of them suggested a round of drinks after. Jay who had been scheduled to perform at Soap then offered to book you guys a table and here you guys were, wilding it out on a Friday night with a game of truth or dare after having a shot too many.
From making out to dancing with strangers, your friends were definitely taking this game more seriously than you had expected them to, especially when you were pretty bad with alcohol yourself and had to down shots one after another when none of their dares for you even seemed logical. Sure, they had toned it down taking into consideration that you were attached hence sparing you from going up to random dudes on the dance floor, but with how some of their ideas were literally out of this world, you were left with no choice but to drink continuously and very soon you were more drunk than you’d like to be.
“Well, he felt bad that he couldn’t join us so he tried to make up for it. Plus points for a VIP table, no?” You tried reasoning.
While you tried to be a good sport and answered some of their prying questions about your relationship with your superstar boyfriend, some were inevitably too personal to be answered – not that you really minded, but you were pretty sure Jay wouldn’t be too pleased if you were to spill the beans on your sex life. You were thus left with no choice but to chug shots after shots and in no time, you were too intoxicated for your own good.
At this point, your vision was a blur and you could literally hear your heart throbbing in sync with the bass of the music playing in the background. Yet, your last bit of consciousness managed to miraculously bring you and your friends to the dance floor. Jay’s voice in the distance as he performed had your body automatically grooving to the music, a stupid drunk smile plastered on your face as you threw your hands up and moved your hips without caring about how ridiculous you looked at this point.
Egged on by your friends who were in no better states of mind than you were, everything about that situation got you more excited…except you weren’t the only one as a man who had been dancing near you came up close behind you, his hands very enthusiastically helping themselves to the curves on your body as he grinded against your ass.
You weren’t sober enough to make sense of the situation and it wasn’t until you felt his hands tug at the hem of your blouse did you snap your head up, catching a glimpse of a very unamused Jay through the slits of neon lights in your hazy vision did you finally realize what was going on and the next thing you knew, you remembered being pulled out of the club, the rest a distant memory.
You debated on the idea of turning up at the office a little earlier in hopes of at least speaking to Jay before the photoshoot and despite the several ‘what if’s, you decided to do just that because no, you wouldn’t be able to just turn up to work, putting on makeup and doing his hair in front of everyone else, pretending that everything was perfectly fine between the both of you.
A tray of coffee in hand, you knocked on the door to the meeting room where Jay and some of the guys were chilling, taking a deep breath before you entered the room.
“Hey,” You started, glancing briefly at Jay – to which he looked right back at you – before smiling at Kiseok and Wegun.
“How are you?” Wegun greeted you, a warm smile on his face as usual. “What brings you here?”
“Jay has a magazine shoot in a bit, thought I’d just drop by with some coffee since it’s been a while since I last spoke to you guys,” You replied.
“Well you could’ve spoken to them after the show that day if Dukhwa didn’t have to drag you out of the club,” Jay spoke, his expressionless gaze on you unwavering.
You sighed, “Do you mind if we talk outside for a second?”
Sensing the tension in the air, Kiseok whispered at him to cut it out but to no avail as Jay ignored your request and continued, “Did you really have to get yourself in that mess while I was performing? What were you thinking?”
You bit your lip, lowering your head in embarrassment as Jay literally lectured you in front of his colleagues. Yet, the fact that he had decided to have this conversation in front of them angered you for a bit. Sure, you screwed up, but did you really deserve to be humiliated in front of them yet again after what they had witnessed at the club two days ago? What was he even trying to prove?
“…we’ll leave you guys to talk,” Wegun spoke, signalling at Kiseok and getting up from his seat.
“It’s fine, there’s no point if he’s just going to be like that,” You interrupted, then stalked out of the room.
You were just trying to be professional about it, hoping to resolve the feud before you guys had to face each other at work because like it or not, despite the perks that came with dating and working together, it was times like these that truly made you wish you didn’t have to see him at work.
It ticked you off even more realizing that the entire situation had only snowballed purely because he was being such a kid about calling you out in front of his colleagues for it. They were, after all, your coworkers too and his petty tantrums were completely uncalled for.
Needless to say, you were fuming throughout the shoot. You tried your best to keep your composure as you did his makeup, though the rest of the staff had noticed that you were quieter than usual and that you had refused any eye contact with Jay throughout the whole time you were getting him ready for the shoot. With the little saga earlier at the office being your first time on the receiving end of Jay’s hostility, you wanted nothing more than to be done with the shoot without any more drama.
This being the longest you guys have gone without speaking to each other despite being in the same space had Jay feeling a little conscious of you by now, sneaking glances at you from time to time. He’d watch the way you’d squint at the monitor as you observed the pictures carefully, then step in to put strands of his hair back in place every now and then. Your jaw was clenched the entire time, face void of any expression compared to your usual chipper self that he was used to seeing and he’d be lying if he said he wasn’t beginning to regret what he started earlier.
“You okay?” He whispered as you dabbed the beauty blender under his eyes.
You ignored him, exhaling deeply as you finished off with some loose powder.
“Ji Eun.”
“I don’t wanna talk. Not now. Not after I tried to resolve this earlier this morning and especially not after the shit you pulled on me.” You fired back at him in a hushed whisper, then turned your back against him as you walked back behind the camera.
He sighed, then briefly stretched his neck and went right back to work – not without glancing at you once more. Jay being a natural in front of the camera as always thankfully allowed the shoot to wrap up in a few short hours and you couldn’t be more relieved to retreat back into the dressing room, away from Jay’s piercing gazes but the respite was short lived as Jay cracked the door open slowly, the both of you making the first brief second of eye contact in the several hours of the shoot before you looked away and started packing up.
“Let me help you with that,” He said, walking towards you.
You didn’t reply, putting away the brushes and palettes.
“Babe-”
“What?”
He pressed his lips together, slightly taken aback by your little outburst before gesturing for you to hand him the bags in your hands.
“Don’t lecture me in front of your colleagues then pull a sweet boyfriend shit after. Make up your fucking mind,” You said.
“I don’t know what got into my mind this morning…” He trailed, his gaze on you softening as he watched how tears were beginning to well up in your eyes.
You didn’t even know why you were crying. You were mad, so mad, but you hated how weak you were for him every damn time.
You looked away, tilting your head back in an attempt to stop the tears. The last thing you wanted was to cry in front him. As much as you were upset, your screw up had started this whole mess and you knew very well that he’d feel that much worse if he was the reason for your tears.
“I’m sorry,” He apologized, grabbing your hand to get you to look at him.
“I tried resolving this nicely, texted you, and turned up earlier at work to apologize but you decided to be a dick about it. Yes, I fucked up. But no, I don’t deserve this,” You told him, shrugging his hand off as you busied yourself packing, tears blurring your vision by now as they rolled down your cheeks.
“Hey c’mon,” He said, hands on your shoulders as he spun you around to face him then cupped your face, wiping away at your tears with his thumb. “Don’t cry...”
“I just wanted to talk. I don’t want to fight,” You told him, your voice coming out as a soft whisper.
“Me neither.”
He watched as you simply looked up at him, resignation evident in your bloodshot eyes and he leaned in to bring his lips to yours, desperate to draw a reaction – anything – from you to be reassured that everything was going to be okay. There he was, thinking he could diffuse the situation with a few sweet kisses after being an absolute asshole and you hated that it was working.
You hated that you knew this was exactly how he was going to salvage the situation, as with all your other fights, yet here you were, kissing him like he didn’t piss the hell out of you just hours ago, as if he had not ignored your fifty calls and text messages over the past forty-eight hours.
This wasn’t just an argument of who should be doing the dishes, nor about the time you turned up half an hour late to a date that he had painstakingly squeezed amidst his busy schedule all because you couldn’t find that one dress you were looking for and refused to wear anything else and you hated that despite the gravity of the situation, it didn’t take much for you to succumb to his sweet gestures.
You pulled away as soon as he you felt his tongue pressing against your lips and he looked at you, a mix of worry and disappointment in his eyes.
“I have to go,” You told him, gathering your belongings.
“Don’t-”
“I have another schedule to attend to, Wonjae’s shoot starts in two hours,” You explained.
“I’ll pick you up from work.”
“You don’t have to.”
“I want to,” He said immediately, and the way you silently looked at him with an unreadable expression frustrated him to no end.
He held your gaze with his own and for a while the both of you just stayed like that, his deep brown eyes pleading with yours for any form of reassurance and in all honesty, that was enough for you to want to put this all behind so that you guys could finally go back to having pizza on the couch and cuddling to sleep.
You pressed your lips into tight line, giving him a small smile before you picked up your bags and walked right past him.
“I’ll see you later,” He whispered, reaching his hand out to hold yours.
And the little squeeze you gave in response before walking out of the room was just what he needed to hold up until he could see you again that night.

I’m not going to sit by and say Cheol-su is perfect by any means! He has his flaws -- as any muse should -- and they should be talked about in detail. One of his biggest flaws is: cowardice. It’s not a “I’m scared but I can be brave,” cowardice that some shows perpetuate but a constant one driven by past experiences. His home life is bad, his social media life is bad, and his school life is bad -- his life is bad. He’s scared because the bullying is so out of hand that it follows him everywhere and he knows that any action against it could land him in hot water. At one point does he try to not let Eun-ji go through what she did, but he’s immediately stopped by the other bullies and his fear of it getting worse for him if he kept up.
He looks up to Su-hyeok for being brave, but he, himself, doesn’t feel he has the capacity for it. He has kindness in him, he has compassion, but he doesn’t have the ability to step out from beyond the shell of fear that keeps him passive/a bystander to suffering.
He’s sweet. He’s caring. He’s a bean.
He’s a coward. He’s a bit selfish. He’s self-deprecating (it’s bad, man, like it can be straight up grating at times how much he does it). He’s a bystander.

3 shows that cured my post-TROS depression
#1 Crash landing on you (사랑의 불시착)
Genre: Modern; Star-Crossed lovers - Episodes: 16 - Happy Ending: Yes
Tumblr media
Summary: Smart and successful businesswoman from South Korea (YOON Se-ri) lands in the DMZ after a freak paragliding accident. Guarded yet caring North Korean Captain (RI Jeong-hyeok) risks everything to send her back.
Available on Netflix
Tumblr media
Son Ye-jin (who play Yoon Se-ri) and Hyun Bin (Ri Jeong-hyeok) have amazing chemistry and every episode plays out like the chapters of an excellent fanfiction. Classic romantic tropes, humour, angst, action, CLOY has it all.
Moreover, if you’ve never watched a Kdrama in your life, CLOY is a great starting point—not only will it introduce you to Korean culture but also to popular tropes and codes of the genre, and if you were crushed by TROS, CLOY will definitely distract you and ease your pain.
#2 Rookie historian Goo Hae-ryung (신입사관 구해령)
Genre: Historical, Age gap - Episodes: 20 - Happy Ending: Yes
Available on Netflix
Tumblr media
Independent, free-thinking woman (GOO Hae-ryung, 26) lands position as a female Historian, falls in love with himbo prince who secretly works as a romance novelist (Prince Dowon/Yi-rim, 20) and gets her happy ending after uncovering shocking national secret.
Tumblr media
I.LOVE.THIS.SHOW.SO.SO.MUCH. It’s probably not going to be everyone’s cup of tea, but it checks so many of my boxes.
1. Hae-ryung is older than Yi-rim
2.Even if she doesn’t believe in fairy tales or romance, Hae-ryung isn’t emotionally stunted or a tomboy. She’s Belle if Belle only cared about astronomy books and western medicine.
3. The costumes and sets are beautiful and vibrant.
4. It’s really funny. Hae-ryung’s struggles in a patriarchal society feel real but the show keeps a humorous tone throughout the episodes and you never feel depressed or defeated.
5. Prince Dowon is the most precious bean on the planet.
#3 Romance is a bonus book (로맨스는 별책부록)
Genre: Modern, Friends to lovers, Age gap - Episodes: 16 - Happy Ending: Yes
Available on Netflix
Tumblr media
Former successful advertising copywriter, Kang Dan-i (37), struggles to find a job after her divorce left her with nothing. Long-time “smaller brother” and successful novelist and editor-in-chief, Cha Eun-ho (32) offers her to stay at his house after discovering Dan-i  has been pretending to be his never seen housekeeper. Their lives become even more entangled after Dan-i successfuly applies to a junior position at  Eun-ho ‘s publishing house.
Tumblr media
Imagine reading a relaxing book under a cozy blanket while sipping hot cocoa. That’s how that series made me feel. Everything is sweet and soft from the characters' fluffy jumpers to the soft palette of color used for the sets.
People make books and love books. There’s a mystery but no unnecessary angst. If you need a break from everything, click play and you won’t regret it.

MASTERLIST
I update this list everytime I watch and review a show.
Disclaimer: These reviews are subjective and only reflect my opinions. There are no drama on that list that I’ve turned off and all are worthy of a watch.
Recs welcome!
#1 Crash landing on you
(사랑의 불시착)
Grade: A++
Genre: Modern, Star-Crossed lovers
Episodes: 16
Happy Ending: Yes
Watched on: Netflix (FR)
Son Ye-jin (who plays Yoon Se-ri) and Hyun Bin (Ri Jeong-hyeok) have amazing chemistry and every episode plays out like the chapters of an excellent fanfiction. Classic romantic tropes, humour, angst, action, CLOY has it all. Moreover, if you’ve never watched a Kdrama in your life, CLOY is a great starting point—not only will it introduce you to Korean culture but also to popular tropes and codes of the genre.
#2 Rookie historian Goo Hae-ryung
(신입사관 구해령)
Grade: A++
Genre: Historical, Age gap
Episodes: 20
Happy Ending: Yes
Watched on: Netflix (FR)
Delightful from end to end, with lots of humour and an engaging story. The romance between Goo Hae-ryung and himbo-prince Dowon will make your heart go soft, especially if you’re into reverse gender dynamics (she’s older and kisses him first *le gasp*)
#3 Memories of the Alhambra
(알함브라 궁전의 추억)
Grade: B+
Genre: Modern; Sci-fi; Fantasy
Episodes: 16
Happy Ending: No
Watched on: Netflix (FR)
Intriguing premise, great cast and tons of special effects but the romance between Jin-woo (Hyun Bin) and Hee-joo (Park Shin-hye) won't go down in history. On top of that, the ending is a bit wishy-washy in that annoying “maybe there’s more to come” kind of way. Give us a clear cut ending, damnit!
#4 Good doctor
(굿 닥터)
Grade: B-
Genre: Modern, Medical drama
Episodes: 20
Happy Ending: Yes
Watched on: Netflix (FR)
Good heart but the writing is really clumsy at times and the hospital politics don’t make an awful lot of sense. On the bright side, Joo Won is great in the role of Park Si-on.
Note: I haven’t watched the American remake so can’t compare.
#5 My love from the star/ You from the stars
(별에서 온 그대)
Grade: A
Genre: Modern, Sci-fi, fantasy, Star-Crossed lovers
Episodes: 21
Happy Ending: Yes-ish
Watched on: Netflix (FR)
Jun Ji-hyun is absolutely stellar in the role of Cheon Seong-yi, a ditzy Hallyu* star whose career is going south while Kim Soo-hyun plays the emotionally closed-off alien to perfection. Lots of pinning, a dose of angst mixed with a pinch of wacky humor.
*Hallyu means “Korean wave” in Chinese and refers to the popularity and spreading of Korean pop-culture outside of Korea.
#6 Hwarang The Poet Warrior Youth
(화랑)
Grade: B
Genre: Historical, Coming of age, fake siblings who catch feels
Episodes: 20
Happy Ending: Yes
Watched on: Netflix (FR)
Cute boys and interesting lore rooted in true facts (the bone rank system and the real Hwarang, the “Flowering Knights” of the Silla kingdom) but the story drags. I guess I expected more bromance and frolicking and less angst. Lastly, the main girl starts off quirky and fun but they quickly transform her into a sobbing mess which becomes real annoying real fast.
#7 Love in the Moonlight / Moonlight Drawn by Clouds (구르미 그린 달빛)
Grade: A
Genre: Historical, Romance, Coming of age, Posing as the opposite sex
Episodes: 18
Happy Ending: Yes
Watched on: Netflix (FR)
A classic tale of a girl raised as a boy who ends up in a situation where she needs to do her best to not blow her cover while catching feels (As someone raised on Versailles no bara and Ribbon no Kishi, it remains one of my favourite tropes)
Sweet romance and good characters. The fact that Crown prince Lee Yeong doesn't turn emo when he starts developing feelings for Eunuch Ra-on before discovering she's a girl is the cherry on top of the cake.
#8 Something in the rain
(밥 잘 사주는 예쁜 누나)
Grade: C
Genre: Modern
Episodes: 16
Happy Ending: Yes, but it still doesn't make you happy
Watched on: Netflix (FR)
Wasted potential!
Great start but the characterization falls apart quickly and you end up wondering why the main characters keep sabotaging their lives. By the end, despite their reunion, you're left with the impression they've learned nothing and that their relationship is doomed to fall apart.
On top of it all, watching Jin-ah fight sexism in the workplace and gaining nothing is depressing af (I don’t need realism in my escapism, thank you very much).
Too bad because Son Ye-jin and Jung Hae-in look really good together and the acting is top-notch. My advice is to watch the first 8 episodes then make up your own ending in your head.
#9 Moon embracing the sun
(해를 품은 달)
Grade: B+
Genre: Historical,Star-Crossed lovers
Episodes: 22
Happy Ending: Yes
Watched on: Netflix (FR)
A traditional historical drama with all the tropes that go with the genre + a hint of esoterism.
If you love ill-fated relationships, tragic love triangle, evil queens, and amnesia, this is the show for you. Beware, the interrogation/torture scenes are rather brutal.
#10 My sassy girl
(엽기적인 그녀)
Grade: B-
Genre: Historical, Rom-Com
Episodes: 16
Happy Ending: Yes
Watched on: Netflix (FR)
Cute and lighthearted but easily forgettable. Still worth a watch thanks to Joo Won & Oh Yeon-seo's chemistry.
#11 Coffee Prince
(커피프린스 1호점)
Grade: A
Genre: Modern, Posing as the opposite sex
Episodes: 16
Happy Ending: Yes
Watched on: Netflix (FR)
Solid story, great cast but be ready for a lot of bickering.
Yoon Eun-hye is a precious bean who manages to sell the story of Eun-chan, a struggling androgynous working-class girl who mistakenly gets hired by a rich guy to play his boyfriend, then becomes his employee, then falls for him while not correcting his assumptions about her gender. Opposite her, Gong Yoo (from Train to Busan fame) is 🥰🥰🥰
Sidenote: Despite Han-kyul's struggle to accept his feelings for Eun-chan, homosexuality isn't treated as a joke or a shameful thing. The one time he goes seek “medical help”, the doctor is depicted as an old, clueless idiot. And honestly, the story would work too if Eun-chan was a guy.
#12 My girlfriend is a Gumiho/My girlfriend is a Nine-tailed fox
(내 여자친구는 구미호)
Grade: B+
Genre: Modern; Fantasy
Episodes: 16
Happy Ending: Yes
Watched on: Viki - Available on Netflix (FR) too
Campy and goofy. It does look a bit dated (it’s from 2010) and the story is a little predictable but Lee Seung-gi as Cha Dae-woong, an aspiring action film actor and Shin Min-ah as “Gu Mi-ho” the nine-tailed fox looking for a mate are super cute. The show is also a good introduction to Korean folklore.
#13 Goblin / Guardian: The Lonely and Great God / The Lonely and Great God – Goblin
(쓸쓸하고 찬란하神 – 도깨비)
Grade: A+
Genre:  Modern, Historical, Fantasy, bromance
Episodes: 16
Happy Ending: Yes-ish
Watched on: Viki
Unpopular opinion but since I’m not into older guys, I wasn’t invested in the romance between Bride and Goblin until late in the series. I loved everything else though. The show has such a unique tone and atmosphere. It goes from super serious to goofy in no time. The cinematography is gorgeous (especially the historical sets) and you'll cry your eyes out.
#14 Healer
(힐러)
Grade: A
Genre:  Modern
Episodes: 20
Happy Ending: Yes
If you're into toll broody guys and fearless smoll girls, you’ll love Healer. The story is great, the characters are great and the way Jung-hu (played by Ji Chang-wook) and Ji-an (Park Min-young) are horny for each other is peak drama! *chef kiss*
#15 Kangchi the beginning/Gu family book
(구가의 서)
Grade: B-
Genre: Historical, Fantasy
Episodes:
Happy Ending: No
Watched on: Netflix (FR)
Engaging coming of age story of a half-human half-gumiho looking for his place in this world. If it wasn't for the wishy-washy ending it could have been the perfect mix of action fantasy and romance.
Special mention for Dam Yeo-wool (played by Suzie Bae) who is a female character who's allowed to be a bit of everything at the same time (strong, kick-ass, funny, cute, romantic)
#16 Queen for seven days
(7일의 왕비)
Grade: A
Genre:  Historical, Romance, Villainous crush
Episodes: 20
Happy Ending: No
Watched on: Netflix (FR)
With that title don’t expect a HEA but there are plenty of sweet moments along the way to make you appreciate the journey.
Chae-kyung loves the Prince and the Prince loves Chae-kyung but the King wants to kill the Prince and Chae-kyung is loyal to the King but the King is a tyrant and everyone wants the Prince to take his throne. On top of that the King wants Chae-kyung. Big mess. Lots of feels.
The story is (very) loosely based on real-life Queen Dangyeong, which makes it even more poignant. I cried my eyes out at the end because I’m a big softy.
#17 Korean Odyssey
(화유기)
Grade: A-
Genre: Modern, Fantasy
Episodes: 20
Happy Ending: Kinda
Watched on: Netflix (FR)
The show (very loosely based on Journey to the West) has its faults including the wishy-washy ending and the fact that Jin Seon-mi/Sam-jang starts off as a doormat but I ended up liking the relationship developing between the assholish Monkey god and the naive human girl more than I expected.
The side characters are compelling, and the banter and bickering between the deities work really well. If you grew up with Dragon ball, you’ll have a blast trying to match-up the Japanese and Korean names of everyone without looking up Wikipedia.
Lastly, not something I imagined saying after seeing him in Gumiho and Gu family book but Lee Seung-gi as Son Oh-gong = BDE *fans herself* 🥵
#18 Strong Girl Bong-soon
(힘쎈여자 도봉순)
Grade: A-
Genre:  Modern, Super-Heroine
Episodes: 16
Happy Ending: Yes
Watched on: Netflix (FR)
Trigger warning: Graphic depiction of violence against women
A++ super-heroine story, bad side characters
First, every girl should aspire to find a Min-hyuk in their life. Someone who'll love them because of their strength, and support them unconditionally. Someone who won't ask them to change or pretend to be somebody else.
Second, western media should learn that a super-heroine can HAVE IT ALL—the superpowers AND the love AND the family.
My only complaint with the show (and that's why I gave A- instead of A++) is the inclusion of many cringy side characters/situations that spoiled my overall enjoyment (see the caricatural flamboyant gay co-worker, Bong-soon’s mom hitting her dad, the mobsters...)
#19 The K2
(더 케이투)
Grade: B-
Genre: Modern, Political
Episodes: 16
Happy Ending: Yes
Watched on: Netflix (FR)
The romance is bad and the political story far-fetched but Ji Chang-wook is 🔥🔥PEAK HOTTIE🔥🔥
Tumblr media
That being said, I didn’t completely dislike the political intrigue and it was interesting to see the good guy working for the villains (sort of).
#20 Weightlifting fairy Kim Bok-joo
(역도요정 김복주)
Grade: A+
Genre:  Modern, Coming of age
Episodes: 16
Happy Ending: Yes
Watched on: Netflix (FR)
Uplifting coming of age story and super sweet romance. Bok-joo (Lee Sung-kyung) & Joon-hyung (Nam Joo-hyuk) are precious children on top of being cutie-patooties. Bok-joo’s insecurities hit hard, especially if you’ve ever been outside the norm of beauty standards.
I liked how the show normalizes therapy and taking care of your mental health.
In one word…
SWAG!
#21 The scholar who walks the night
(밤을 걷는 선비)
Grade: B
Genre:  Historical, Fantasy, Vampire, posing as the opposite sex
Episodes: 20
Happy Ending: Yes
Watched on: Netflix (FR)
Guilty pleasure.
Don’t ask me about the details of the main storyline, I’ve already forgotten most of it. Sometimes all you need is a show where a hundred-something years old good vampire with a sad backstory and the main girl who is thirsty for the good vampire are fighting a sexy evil vampire.
PS: Did I mention the sexy evil vampire?
Tumblr media
#22 Romance is a bonus book
(로맨스는 별책부록)
Grade: A+
Genre: Modern, Friends to lovers
Episodes: 16
Happy Ending: Yes
Watched on: Netflix (FR)
Imagine reading a relaxing book under a cozy blanket while sipping hot cocoa. That’s how that series made me feel.
Everything is sweet and soft from the characters' fluffy jumpers to the soft palette of color used for the sets. People make books and love books. There’s a mystery but no unnecessary angst. If you need a break from everything, jump in that ship.
#23 Hotel Del Luna
(호텔 델루나)
Grade: A-
Genre: Modern
Episodes: 16
Happy Ending: Sorta
Watched on: Viki - Available on Netflix (FR) too
Interesting world-building and a good cast of side characters but the romance lacks a bit of oomph.
On the + side, the hotel sets are gorgeous and Man-wol's wardrobe is to kill for.
#24 Suspicious Partner
(수상한 파트너)
Grade: A-
Genre: Modern, Star-crossed lovers in an office
Episodes: 20
Happy Ending: Yes
Watched on: Netflix (FR)
Toll serious who hates criminal falls for smoll weirdo falsely accused of murder. A must watch for anyone in search of a quirky romance.
#25 Touch your heart
(진심이 닿다)
Grade: A
Genre: Modern
Episodes: 16
Happy Ending: Yes

Tooth rotting sweetness. The series is just a pretext to watch two good looking people (Lee Dong-wook and Yoo In-na) being nice and awkward around each other. What do you need more? 0
Note: If you watched Goblin you can also pretend it's a spin-off series about the reincarnations of Grim Reaper and Sunny. 💡
#26 Because this is my first life
(이번 생은 처음이라)
Grade: A
Genre: Modern, Fake marriage
Episodes: 16
Happy Ending: Yes
Watched on: Netflix (FR)
The Fake Marriage AU you’re looking for, mixed with slices of modern, messy, complicated life.
The main storyline revolves around Ji-ho an assistant drama screenwriter who struggles to find her place within the patriarchal structure of Korean society, and Se-hee, a socially incompetent computer designer who only cares for his cat and his mortgage. The way they end up in a fake marriage as well as the development of their relationship feels organic and doesn’t rely too heavily on comedy like it’s often the case with that trope.
The show also follows the stories of Ji-ho’s friends, Su-ji and Ho-rang who have different aspirations in life—Su-ji’s goal is to become CEO while Ho-rang only cares about becoming a housewife. I loved that the show makes a point to not pit women against each other and advocate living your life the way YOU want rather than trying to follow societal expectations of what love, work and marriage should look like.
Also they have the cutest cat.
#27 What's wrong with Secretary Kim?
(김비서가 왜 그럴까 )
Grade: A-
Genre: Modern
Episodes: 16
Happy Ending: Yes

I wish Secretary Kim had more agency in certain situations but the romance develops well and the horny moments are caliente 🥵🔥
#28 Where your eyes linger
(너의 시선이 머무는 곳에)
Grade: A++
Genre: Modern, BL, Coming of age, Friends to lovers
Episodes: 8
Happy Ending: Yes
Watched on: Viki
Bite-size BL gem to devour in one sitting.
Stellar acting from the two leads and the balance between fluff and angst is just right. There's no graphic violence that sometimes plagues yaoi and BL and the story is believable. I got emo remembering my first love.
#29 Live up to your name
(명불허전)
Grade: A-
Genre: Modern, Historical, Time travel, Star-crossed lovers
Episodes: 16
Happy Ending: Yes
Watched on: Netflix (FR)
Trigger warning for graphic depiction of violence
Big surprise. I was looking for a cheesy comedy but it was actually a thoughtful story about humanism. I even teared up a little.
Trigger warning for needles. They do some pretty impressive procedures with those acupuncture needles.
#30 W - Two Worlds Apart
(더블유)
Grade: A
Genre: Modern
Episodes: 16
Happy Ending: Yes
Watched on: Netflix (FR)
Imaginary men > Real men, especially when they're played by Lee Jong-suk. Nuf’ said.
Imaginary men > Real men, especially when they're played by Lee Jong-suk.
The silly premise hides a solid story that keeps you on your toes and I was suprised by the rollercoaster of emotions I went through.

#31 Life
(라이프)
Grade: C
Genre: Modern
Episodes: 16
Happy Ending: Kinda
Watched on: Netflix (FR)
Unless you want to learn how fucked up the private health sector is becoming in Korea, there's not much to gain watching this show.
The story starts off well though. The problem is that by the middle of the series the writers have dropped the main mystery (the circumstances surrounding the death of the director) to deliver an exposé on the political machinations of big corporations, and then shoehorn an explanation at the last minute (“it was all but a misunderstanding”). Very underwhelming.
The relationship between the two brothers played by Lee Dong-wook and Lee Kyu-hyung is the only bright spot.
#32 Pinocchio
(피노키오)
Grade: A-
Genre: Modern, Fake family members who catch feels
Episodes: 20
Happy Ending: Yes
Watched on: Netflix (FR)
On paper, the story sounds a little crazy but it all comes together nicely.
Lee Jong-suk and Park Shin-hye have great chemistry and deliver a stellar performance as “uncle” and “niece” (not related by blood) who can’t fight the romantic feelings they harbor for one another. The main storyline has enough twists to keep you entertained and surprised.
My only complaint is that it drags a little. 16 episodes would have been enough.
#33 My Holo Love
(나 홀로 그대)
Grade: A
Genre: Modern, Sci-fi
Episodes: 12
Happy Ending: Yes
Watched on: Netflix (FR)
Fake men > Real men
Imagine a Black Mirror episode about a love triangle between a woman suffering from face blindness, an emotionally supportive AI boyfriend and the disenchanted creator of said AI, minus the nihilism. *chef kiss*
#34 Legend of the blue sea
(푸른 바다의 전설)
Grade: B++
Genre: Modern, Fantasy, Fairy tale, Star-crossed lovers
Episodes: 20
Happy Ending: Yes
Watched on: Viki
Park Ji-eu (the writer) read the little mermaid and decided to give her a happy ending. Great chemistry between Lee Min-ho and Jun Ji-hyun but the spark is missing for me.
The antics of modern-day mermaid Shim Cheong are a little predictable and Joon-jae needs to be less of a control freak at times but the story remains enjoyable. I was pleasantly surprised to see Shim Cheong’s character grow, making the power imbalance between the clueless mermaid and the con-artist less pronounced by the end of the series.
The side characters are interesting but underused, and I wish Tae-oh was more developed. On the other hand, the Joseon area sets and costumes are absolutely gorgeous (Don’t tell anyone but Joseon!Lee Min-ho is hotter than Modern!Lee Min-ho 🥵)
#35 Tale of Arang / Arang and the Magistrate
(아랑사또전)
Grade: B
Genre: Historical, Fantasy,
Episodes: 20
Happy Ending: Yes
Watched on: Netflix (FR)
One word: Campy.
Interesting lore but the pacing is a little off—there’s a lot of back and forth between the characters and the locations and the love triangle doesn't add much.
#36 My ID is Gangnam Beauty / Gangnam Beauty
(내 아이디는 강남미인)
Grade: A+
Genre: Modern, Coming of age
Episodes: 16
Happy Ending: Yes
Watched on: Netflix (FR)
If you’ve ever been bullied for your looks, you’re gonna bawl your eyes out.
The show does a great job of calling out the unhealthy beauty standards imposed on Korean women but the topic is universal enough for the story to resonate with everyone. I love that you never see Mi-rae’s old face because it’s not our perception of her lack of beauty that matters but the fact she suffers greatly. Don’t you hate in western shows when they take a beautiful actress, give her a pair of glasses or a fat suit and call her ugly, making sure the audience feels shittier about themselves? Here, the writers concentrate on Mi-rae’s transformation and her coping with the consequences of her decision to do plastic surgery.
It’s also not a revenge fantasy where the ugly duckling suddenly becomes the most popular girl at school. Being a “Gangnam beauty” leads to a new form of suffering.
Romance-wise, it’s the slowest burn of slow burns because Mi-rae and Do Kyung-seok are the most socially awkward beans on the planet. I love them, Your Honor.
#37 Tale of Nokdu
(조선로코-녹두전)
Grade: A
Genre: Historical, Posing as the opposite sex
Episodes: 32 x 30mns
Happy Ending: Yes
Watched on: Viki - Now available on Netflix (FR)
Fun and lighthearted all the way through.
The story of a guy who puts on a dress to investigate a village of widows could have gone very wrong but it was well handled. It’s refreshing to see the classic trope of posing as the opposite sex reversed and Jang Dong-yoon is never cringy when he’s pretending to be Lady Kim Nok-soon.
#38 Bride of Habaek / Bride of the Water God
(하백의 신부 2017)
Grade: B
Genre: Modern, Fantasy
Episodes: 16
Happy Ending: Yes
Watched on: Netflix (FR)
Content warning: Crime against fashion
Promising premise and lore (I'm interested in reading the original comics now) but the writing fails to deliver an epic romance and a cathartic ending. Moreover, the sets lack imagination (or money?) and in the end I failed to ever feel immersed in a fantasy world.
The unfortunate consequence of the clumsy writing is that the male characters who are meant to be arrogant/confident Gods (Habaek and By-ryeom) sound like they're negging their love interests more than wooing them, and the relationship between Mu-ra and By-ryeom particularly irked me.
#39 Strangers from Hell / Hell is other people
(타인은 지옥이다)
Grade: A+
Genre: Modern, Psychological Thriller
Episodes: 10
Happy Ending: Spoiler
Watched on: Netflix (FR)
Content warning: Violence
What a departure from everything else in that list! Absolutely worth a watch if you enjoy thrillers and shows like Hannibal. If psychological horror isn’t your cup of tea though, you might give it a pass.
The storyline and the characters are a little cliché (it goes with the genre) but the cinematography and photography are fantastic. You can notice how the pension becomes more and more sinister throughout the series via the use of dark greens and browns and pale yellows, as opposed to the mundanity and coldness of the city (greys, and cold blues).
Last but not least, the acting is top-tiers. Im Siwan does a great job at portraying Jong-woo, an aspiring crime novelist who slowly loses his marbles but the true revelation for me is Lee Dong-wook. After seeing him so many times in roles where he plays awkward yet charming men who can barely express emotions, I was intrigued to see him take on the role of a serial killer, and holy cow, he's the perfect mix of sinister and alluring. Towards the end of the series, his character Moon-jo acts like a black-hole whenever he appears in a scene—a towering, dark presence who sucks the light out of the room (If he carries any of that darkness in the upcoming Tale of Gumiho, it’s gonna be *chef kiss*).
#40 Empress Ki
(기황후)
Grade: A
Genre: Historical, posing as the opposite sex
Episodes: 51
Happy Ending: From a certain point of view
Watched on: Netflix (FR)
Trigger warning for violence against women (not graphic but implied)
51 episodes.
Fifty.One.Episodes.
That's a lot of episodes considering the story starts with the ending.
Did I enjoy this show? Yes, very much so. Do I think it's for everyone? Nope.
You'll enjoy Empress Ki if you're into old-school historical sagas or you wished Game of thrones had no gratuitous nudity and violence. If you’re looking for an historically accurate biography of the real empress Ki though, then look away because Empress Ki is basically a lengthy fanfiction trying to justify how the Goryeo native Seung-nyang married the wimpy Emperor of the Yuan dynasty whilst trying to portray her as loyal to her motherland and to her first love, the Crown Prince of Goryeo.
Personally, I didn’t care for the love triangle formed by Seung-nyang (Ha Ji-won), Wang-yoo (Joo Jin-mo) and Toghon Temür (Ji Chang-wook) but I liked the politics and the backstabbing. Also, contrary to GoT, the bad guys get their comeuppance at the end so it makes watching the side characters die less painful.
#41 Meow, the secret boy / Welcome
(어서와)
Grade: B-
Genre: Modern, Modern fantasy
Episodes: 24 x 35mns
Happy Ending: I guess
Watched on: Viki
How do I put it? It's not *terribad* but it's not *good* either.
I was super on board with the concept—if Lee Seung-gi can bang a nine-tailed fox in My girlfriend is a gumiho, I have zero issues with Sol ah, our heroine, falling in love with Hong-jo the cat-person after being dumped for no reason by Jae-sun her boyfriend—but it didn’t exactly develop that way, and as soon as they explained why Jae-sun had broken up with Sol-ah, the writers lost me because I like when things happen for a reason.
#42 Clean with a passion for now
(일단 뜨겁게 청소하라!!)
Grade: A-
Genre: Modern, Rom-Com
Episodes: 16
Happy Ending: Yes
Watched on: Netflix (FR)
Super zany and tropey but that’s why it works so well. The only reason I’m giving it a minus is because it’s trying to be woke but in the end there’s still a lot of unsolicited grabbing and some iffy remarks/pick-up lines said by every male characters (IRL that’s the kind of story that ends up with a restraining order and a lawsuit for sexual harassment).
#43 Mystic pop-up bar
(쌍갑포차)
Grade: A
Genre: Modern, Fantasy
Episodes: 12
Happy Ending: Yes
Watched on: Netflix (FR)
Trigger warning: Heavy themes (miscarriage, pregnancy, loss of a child, death of loved ones)
You know how the meme goes... Sometimes a family is a hot-tempered bar owner, a cursed kid and an ex-Afterlife-Police officer with a secret past.
It took me a few episodes to get into it, but once the characters were established it became really enjoyable.
The tone of the series leans toward wacky but the core of the story is actually pretty dark if you look into it. Every grudge they solve for their “clients” gives a clue about Wol-joo’s personal story and by the last episode I was crying my eyes out.
Last but not least, Wol-joo’s collection of modernized hanboks is *chef kiss*
#44 My secret Terrius
(내 뒤에 테리우스)
Grade: A
Genre: Modern, Action, Comedy, Bromance
Episodes: 16
Happy Ending: Yes
Watched on: Netflix (FR)
An enjoyable action drama to watch with your family or your significant other.
Koreans prove that you can write a story about a black ops agent on the run who becomes a childminder without reeking of toxic masculinity. Contrary to American comedies where the manly-man-hero working undercover is incompetent and believes that working with children is a woman’s job and a waste of his manly-man talents until he has an epiphany of some sorts, Kim Bon (played by So Ji-sub) never once expresses discomfort to the idea of looking after two kids. In spite of his sober demeanor, he’s a caring and attentive person from the start and watching him gradually becoming a part of this spunky family while investigating a national security threat made my heart go awww.
Opposite him, fearless and resourceful mom Go Ae-rin (played Jung In-sun) brings a lot of energy, and the twins are absolutely adorable.
#45 Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo
(달의 연인 - 보보경심 려)
Grade: A--
Genre: Historical
Episodes: 16
Happy Ending: No
Watched on: Random streaming site
Don’t get attached—Moon Lovers is the missing link between Empress Ki and Boys over flowers, but with a sad ending.
I did binge watch the series but there are some frustrating aspects to it that prevented me from giving a perfect score, notably the fact that Wang So remains possessive and demanding with Hae Soo throughout the years—for instance “You’re my person” is a romantic statement until it evolves into “You can never leave me.”
The other problem of the series is that Lee Ji-eun (UI) does cute and goofy really well, but she doesn’t have the emotional range needed to portray a character who goes through many heartbreaks and betrayals. As a result, Hae Soo appears a little fickle in her infatuations with the princes.
That being said if you’re a sucker for tragic romance and you believe that power corrupts even the purest of love, you’ll have a blast.
#46 Forest
(포레스트)
Grade: B++
Genre: Modern, Romance
Episodes: 16
Happy Ending: Yes
Watched on: Viki
UST in the woods (Dat first kiss 🥵🥵🥵)
The characters and the story are a little cliché but who doesn’t love a story where the protagonists are clearly attracted to each other but can’t act on their desires because their moral values are opposite?
*slams fist*
San Hyeok is your typical heartless businessman who refuses to confront his childhood trauma, and Yeong Jae is a surgeon who suffers from panic attacks and cares too much about other people. They’re both good looking and fate brings them to a remote village in the middle of the forest where they have to share a house. Really, I wonder what’s gonna happen?
#47 100 Days My Prince / Hundred days husband
(백일의 낭군님)
Grade: B+
Genre: Historical
Episodes: 16
Happy Ending: Yes
Watched on: Viki
Trigger warning: Important character death.
Cute and charming but also very annoying at times. Obviously, the story is tropey af (fake marriage doubled with amnesia, you can’t really beat that) but it also includes elements I’ve never seen in any other dramas like the fact that the Crown Princess is pregnant with another man’s child (le gasp!). The things that annoy me the most were the unnecessary flip-flopping of the heroine towards the end of the show for the sake of creating artificial drama (just let them be together FFS!) and the fact that the male characters take a lot of decisions for Yeon Hong-shim.
Romance wise, Do Kyung-soo and Nam Ji-hyun are really cute together but in the end I found myself more interested in the political intrigue and the side characters than the main romance because slow burn has its limit. In essence, it’s the perfect drama to watch with your conservative family because whilst the main couple is living under the same roof and is technically married they don’t get frisky.
#48 I Am Not A Robot (로봇이 아니야)
Grade: A++
Genre: Modern
Episodes: 16
Happy Ending: Yes
Watched on: Netflix (FR)
Angsty with a good pay-off.
With a premise like that, things could have gone wrong really quickly but the writers managed to write a story that isn’t a man wanting to fuck a robot because real women are scary so big kudos for them. Seeing Min-kyu celebrating his Roomba’s birthday because he has no other friends will instantly melt your heart and from that point on you’ll cheer for his recovery. The show has the right amount of angst without becoming a mess and they handle the big reveal very well, making sure to show how hurt both Min-kyu and Ji-ah are by the situation, without making you doubt that they can find each other again. The other strong point of the show is that it’s not just about romance, it’s also about friendship and learning to let other people in your life.
The acting is incredible to the point that by the end I wondered if Yoo Seung-ho and Chae Soo-bin were making out in front of my salad or if I was still watching the characters Min-kyu and Ji-ah being lovey dovey.
#49 Sungkyunkwan Scandal (성균관 스캔들)
Grade: A
Genre: Historical, Posing as the opposite gender
Episodes: 20
Happy Ending: Yes
Watched on: Viki
Hana zakari no kimi tachi he with gats.
This show checks so many boxes when it comes to my favourite tropes story-wise and character-wise that I instantly fell in love with it. It might feel a little dated for a younger audience and it definitely suffers from the second male lead syndrome (who wants unseasoned boiled chicken when there are not just one but two juicy rotisserie chickens on the table next to you?!) but it’s still very much enjoyable. Also, they don’t shy away from using the word “homosexuality” and having one of the second lead confessing to having romantic feelings for his friend (I’ll take any scrap of bi-representation, okay?)
#50 It’s Okay to not be okay  (사이코지만 괜찮아)
Grade: A
Genre: Modern
Episodes: 16
Happy Ending: Yes
Watched on: Netflix (FR)
Found family.
In spite of one ridiculous plot twist (that I was aware of when I started the show) this show has made me feel all the feelz. The three main actors all did a phenomenal job portraying their characters in all their complexity and fragility and I ended up crying so many cathartic tears in the second to last & the last episodes. The relationship between Sang-tae and Gang-tae is one of the best sibling relationships I’ve seen on-screen in a long time while the romance between Moon-yeong and Gang-tae blends perfectly elements of comedy and melodrama. Mental illness isn’t treated as something to be ashamed of, whilst showing that you can grow and recover from trauma and finding your own happiness.
PSA from my boyfriend, who dropped the show before the end:
The plot twist is so stupid that it takes away from the rest of the series. In my opinion it negated the positive portrayal of mental illness built up until then. They completely lost me.
^ We discussed a lot about it which is why I wanted to share his POV to balance my own review.

do do sol sol la la sol.
overview.
this drama follows the story of our tragic ra-ra who is currently in a mess, when her fiance runs from the alter and her father unexpectedly passes away, she is scammed out of her money and finds herself in eunpo, a town full of lovely characters who come to surround her. as well as our man jun, who is ra-ra's knight in shining armor. i love it. it's great. their story is funny and lighthearted. i would rate it a 10 out of 10; however, that finale had me balling my eyes out and i felt oh so betrayed.
this was a fabulous drama. each and every week i was waiting for the next episode. thank you to our beautiful man, lee jae wook, for interesting me to watch this. go ara did a beautiful job and i loved her as this carefree character. jun was such a great stoic character and we were able to peel back all his layers and i loved that he showed rara a different side of him. they were so lovely together.
Tumblr media
*spoiler alert*
goo ra-ra. this girl was our carefree gem. at the start it was more of oblivious as she lived a very sheltered life, one in which she was always supported by her father. she was his darling. when he suddenly passed away our girl was left abandoned. this was tragic and she only had mimi by her side. she got herself together, after being abandoned at the alter only to be scammed. the definition of tragic for our leading lady. then we run into our knight in shining armor as she was trying to meet mr. dodosolsollalasol. (very sketch but we live in dramaland and it’s totally normal)
sunwoo jun. his character is stoic and quiet, reserved. never ventures outside, stays quiet as we later find to stay hidden from his family. but when ra-ra enters she seems to open him up. he ends up helping her financially after she runs into him on his bike, and she is injured. logic is nonexistent at this moment (we later find that he knew her previously but she forgot about him...) but he nevertheless, helps a girl out and this brings us to the wonderful people of this town, eunpo.
jun takes her back to his home because our girl is homeless. and introduces us to the fabulous crew in eunpo. now they’re not about to let this new girl into their circle. however, she quickly makes her way with her sweet oblivious nature. i loved jin sook-kyeong, with her hilarious nature, the owner of the hairdresser next door to where jun was staying. and her daughter jin ha-young. it was so funny how ha-young transformed from being obsessed with jun to finally seeing that her best friend lee seung-ki had feelings for her all along! literally the cutest progression of friendship to romance. and i loved that we got to see them in the end after a few years with a family of their own.
i loved the little crew that they formed with ra-ra, jun, dr. cha, seung-ki, and ha-young. they were precious. how everyone would gather at jun’s workplace and eat dinner together. i loved how they all brought out different aspects of the other’s personalities.
Tumblr media
the ladies that all meet at the hair salon provide so much aid to ra-ra and i love how they all gather around her in support of her dreams from opening her own piano academy ‘la la land’, to wanting to find mr. dodosolsollalasol. they all rally around her.
now ra-ra needs to earn her keep and pay back jun. la la land was a dream that came out of her wanting to continue to pursue music after her impact on mr. kim, an older fellow in the community who recently lost his wife.  (side note: i loved the episode where jun played mr. kim and ra-ra his late wife in recreating their love story. it was precious, and my heart was sooo full). this venture to start lalaland leads her to a prodigy student, jae-min. this precious bean goes on to do great things!! i also loved the moments when jun and ra-ra would come together after their long days and she would play the piano and jun would tidy up the space. they were cute and supportive of one another.
i cannot forget about our doctor cha eun-seok. this man seemingly followed ra-ra to eunpo. he wanted to escape seoul and start fresh in eunpo. he seemingly pursues her briefly but ra-ra already has feelings for jun. but he is a constant in her life, always there to be supportive of her dreams, and be there as a shoulder to cry on especially at the end.
now on to the tea. as it turns jun has been on the run from his family. which turns out to be sunwoo group, the owner of the main hospital in seoul. and turns out jun isn’t an oppa, he is a senior in high school. he ran away after his family’s pressure became too much. they were unsupportive of him in his academic pursuits, as well as neglected his feelings of grief after his best friend ji-hun passed away in front of his eyes. but min-su the owner of the agency sent to track jun down comes and notifies his mother. and everything blows up. and we find out all about this and it shocks everyone in eunpo. especially our ra-ra.
jun of course is dragged back to seoul to be essentially in lock down to study, but he misses everyone in eunpo especially his ra-ra. they seemingly go back to a somewhat normal life. jun in seoul studying, and ra-ra pursuing her career as a piano teacher. but our sweet beans seung-ki and ha-young decide to open a wedding business and use ra-ra and eun-seok as their first trial wedding. jun sees this post on social media and runs to eunpo, stealing the bride at the alter and running away with her. it was quite the ending to the episode. i was floored. like noooo way would she marry dr. cha. she still loves jun! and of course she did.
nevertheless, jun still needs to finish school and then after the exams they decide they can meet again. but in the interim jun comes to find that he has leukemia. here is where it gets ohhh so soapy. he doesn’t want ra-ra to see him like this so he uses min-su, as he was investigating how jun was, to his advantage. he has his friend from school stand in as his ‘girlfriend’ to prove that he has moved on from ra-ra. it was devastating. because how she has truly realized how important jun was in her life and that she wanted to be with him.
among all of this ra-ra comes to find that mr. dodosolsollalasol was not mr. kim but rather jun all along! she walks by a cafe of the same name and it all comes flooding back. they met prior to her piano recital, jun bought her a drink from the cafe because she lost her wallet. and it all comes full circle. she had to leave before he could come back after a phone call. jun sees the message she wrote to mr. dodosolsollalasol, and comes to see her one last time before going off to treatment. but they keep in touch via messaging and phone calls. he even does a virtual piano recital with them on christmas eve. it was precious.
and you think all is well. he will come back after treatment, and they can be together. well you thought. if you asked me at this point what i would rate this drama, a 10 out of 10. but these last two episodes threw me. his mother returns and basically says that jun is dead. everyone in eunpo thinks this man is dead. years....i say YEARS later ra-ra is playing her little song she played whenever jun would come home from work, and homeboy decides to waltz in the door. what the even?! at least they end up together, but i was still at a loss as to why he lied. it was so uncharacteristic of him. quite disappointed in the writers’ choices here.
Tumblr media
honestly, when i look back i still recall fond memories of this drama, but the last two episodes were soooo sour. but lee jae wook was in it and he got the girl in the end so i guess that makes up for the deducted points due to the nonsense. so it is still a 10 out of 10 in my book. i would highly recommend this one. it was a gem.

Part 1
It wasn't the best sleep you've had, but it worked for you. Because early the next morning, Hun knocked on your door muttering something about Jaehyun.
You mustered up enough strength to rise off the bed that had almost swallowed you whole through the night. You grunted as you landed on the hard floor with your bare feet.
Dragging yourself across the room, you felt like you were trudging through a lake of molasses. Finally, your fingers gripped the door handle and pulled, revealing a disheveled and dead-looking Hun. He wasn't in his doctor’s uniform; he instead wore a loose navy blue sweatshirt and gray sweatpants.
You had to admit, the less-professional look fit him very well. You were suddenly self-conscious of your own appearance, with Hun simply staring at you, unimpressed.
“Hello?” you offered, trying your best to speak with a normal voice. However, you had just woken up, so your voice was very quiet and syrupy. You cleared your throat in embarrassment.
He seemed to shake himself out of his thoughts and he nodded quickly, replying, “Yes, hello. It's morning.”
“It is,” you agreed. “No good morning?”
He let out a chuckle as he started to make his way inside, pushing past you. He sat on the bed again. You followed slowly, your legs still asleep.
“It sure doesn't feel like a good morning,” he said at last, rubbing his eyes stubbornly. “I was woken up at six so I could wake you.”
You sighed, feeling bad for him. Even though he had agreed to be your friend, you recalled how he didn't trust you still. You pursed your lips, trying to find the right words so you wouldn't say something untrustworthy.
“Are you saying this friend here is unworthy of your sacrifice?” You attempted to sound funny and relatable, but he only scoffed.
“You sound like Jaehyun.”
“I take it he was the one who woke you up?”
“Yeah,” Hun affirmed, laughing slightly as if he was crying.
Silently, you started to move toward the bathroom door. Hun noticed and waved you off.
“Yes, go change. We're going to visit the training room soon.”
You stopped and turned back to look at him. “Who trains this early in the morning?”
“Assassins. Trainers. Guards. Sungjin.”
“Why, though?”
He sighed, shrugging. “Just go. Don't waste time.”
You frowned to yourself as you closed the door behind you. He seemed to be acting somewhat colder than the night before, but you hoped it was merely from the morning hours.
You found another stack of clothes awaiting you, with a pale pink note sitting atop them. You picked it up thinking it would be from Eun-mi and Eun-chae, but you were left confused when you read it through once.
You're going to be meeting a few more of my friends today, so I wanted you to look nice. I don't trust the maids around you, but they'll come and fill your dresser and bathroom with more personalized things than what's already there.
I think you'll like one of my friends. She’s been excited to meet you since she first heard about you. I’d trust her with my life, if that means anything to you.
~ PSJ
PSJ? Park… Sungjin? DAY6’s mafia boss wrote you a note? You wondered why he would've felt the need to do this. Sure, he seemed to explain himself in the note, but why did he even write a note?
You set aside the note hesitantly and picked up the stack of dark clothes. You wanted to nod at the style choice, but knew you would look weird doing so.
As you unfolded the bundle, you found that the original dark theme you had seen was now interrupted nicely with a pastel shirt, making the outfit formal-casual.
The style was on-point and you were excited to see what you would look like, so you quickly changed into the soft fabrics. Looking in the mirror, you looked amazing as always. You smiled confidently and adjusted your hair quickly before heading back out to where Hun sat.
He was still sitting on your bed, patiently and quietly. His eyes were lowered to stare at his fidgeting fingers, so he didn't notice you at first. When you cleared your throat, he looked up at you, startled.
“Are you ready?” he asked, smiling a little.
“I think so. Let's go!”
“Yeah.”
You allowed yourself to almost stand directly beside him when he got off your bed. As the two of you walked down the hall, the sounds of gunshots were heard from inside one of the rooms. Curious, you read the plaque above the door: SHOOTING RANGE. Each shot you heard scared you half to death, but you tried to keep cool.
Hun seemed to realize you were on-edge and placed a gentle hand on your shoulder, comforting you a little. When the sounds had died off, he let go. You reached the training room where you heard blades clanging against each other.
Upon entering the room, you studied it. There was Jaehyun, sitting on a padded bench in one corner of the room. Two other men wielded swords and were practicing against one another. Jaehyun kept a watchful eye on the match, occasionally writing something down on the clipboard in his lap.
As you and Hun got closer to the game, you paid closer attention to the fencers. They were clad fully in white uniforms and expensive-looking masks. Their swords were definitely real, and extremely fancy at that; jewels and elaborate handles added to the beauty of the blades.
Hun led you to a seat next to Jaehyun, but he preferred to stand farther away from his best friend. Sitting down, you wondered why… swords? You would've assumed guns and daggers would be it, along with physical training, but this Mafia was very thorough.
The fighters themselves were close in appearance when wearing matching clothing, along with the masks hiding their most prominent features. However, you found that one, taller than the other, had blonde hair and the other had fluffy brown hair. After a while of studying the fight in silence, you started to cheer for the taller man in your head.
The swordsmen seemed to have finally finished their match, with a firm wack from the broad side of a sword onto the shorter man’s back, knocking him to the ground. You did your best not to cheer for the blonde.
Jaehyun smiled in a proud kind of way. Standing to congratulate and then dismiss them, they took off their masks and accepted the clipboard handed to them. You were surprised to see that the blonde was Jae and the brunette was Wonpil. But they didn't notice you as they left, so you didn't bother to greet them.
Hun took in a breath that lifted the awkward silence. “Why are you training them instead of Young K today?”
His tone was so cold you were sure Jaehyun had frozen. You noticed how Jaehyun sighed and didn't turn around to face his friend. The tension was really suffocating.
At last, Jaehyun faced Hun with a half-smile. “Young K had some personal business with Sungjin today, so you won't be seeing either of them.”
You nodded and Hun did the same—but, somehow, colder.
Jaehyun shifted his gaze onto you, and his face glowed a little happier. He seemed excited to sit next to you and breathed deeply, as if ready to start rambling on about something. But he stopped and looked at you strangely.
Furrowing his eyebrows, he came closer to you and sniffed you. You flinched, jumping away.
“What even??” you questioned, trying to laugh it off.
“Y/N, you smell… strange.”
You didn't feel at all better. “I don't know if I should take offense or not.”
Hun then smelled you, too, cocking his head. You were pretty weirded out.
“Okay, why? What do I smell like?”
The idiots were deep in thought, and then Hun snapped his fingers.
“Roses. You smell like roses.”
Your jaw dropped and your eyes widened as big as quarters. Jaehyun slapped a hand over his own mouth, gasping dramatically.
“R-roses, o-oh gosh.”
“What does that mean, am I in trouble or something? Why?”
Hun pressed his lips together solemnly. “As your friend, I advise you to let me and Jaehyun help you. We'll have to be quick.”
They gripped your wrist suddenly and you were so taken aback that you didn't even register the fact that you were running through the halls and entering another room.
You were forced into a seat in front of a mirror. You blinked your eyes in shock.
The boys were breathing hard, but hurrying to find something in the drawers next to you. They made loud sounds with all of the things they moved around, but they still couldn't seem to find what they were looking for.
You moved your eyes away from them and looked at your own shocked expression the glass reflected at you.
Finally, Hun picked up a glass bottle and sprayed it on a card. Smelling it, he shook his head and they continued their search.
“Um,” you started, hoping to figure out what they were doing, “what exactly is it you're looking for?”
Jaehyun paused and looked at you with a fierce gaze, saying, “A strong and long-lasting perfume that will still smell good on you.”
Then he turned back to search, spray, and sniff. Hun held up a gold-tinted liquid and jumped excitedly. “I found it! I've got it.”
You watched him through the mirror while he came toward you, Jaehyun right behind him.
“It's a vanilla bean scent, strong but sweet,” Hun explained. “It's one of my least favorites, because it's a little bland, but it'll work for this.”
You nodded, and he held the paper under your nose. Smelling it, you smiled. The scent was definitely a good one.
He seemed glad that you liked it, and began to spray a generous amount on your hair and wrists. Luckily, it wasn't too overpowering, so it wasn't horrible.
Jaehyun sighed, relieved. “If anyone else other than these friends,”—he pointed to himself and Hun—“had smelled that, you might've been dead! You should be grateful we trus—care so much.”
“I am grateful, very. I've been out here for a day or so and you make me feel better about knowing almost nothing.”
Silence attempted to take over, but Hun butted in: “We should probably start asking questions, right?”
Jaehyun shrugged. “You'll have to follow me to my private training with Minhyuk right now. I'll talk then.”
Hun nodded. “Let's roll.”
They seemed much less cold to each other now, so that was good, you thought. It didn't feel uncomfortable when you walked to the training hall again. The gunshots had stopped for now, as well, so a kind of calmness settled.
The three of you went into the room to see Minhyuk already waiting there. He waved brightly.

MEMBERS: 8 (one japanese, one australian, one argentinian and five koreans)
DEBUT: 9th of January
Tumblr media
Okay, about the group
one day big hit uploaded a logo, not about bts or txt or lee hyun
It was about a survival show
like stray kids but... yes with girls
girls from other companies (most of them from small agencies)
but there are two trainees from big hit (yeah i like produce fvck me)
in total there are like 20 trainees but only 9 of them are going to debut
the different thing it's that only the trainers can disqualified the trainees (and the audience only votes for concepts and music)
and there are special judges
HWASA, RM AND HOSHI
kdkskdjsila that was unexpected ajkskska
and of course, HITMAN BANG (what)
OKAYY TO THE IMPORTANT PART
it was going to be 9 members but the last place had a problem with her actitude like idk she was not really working with the group and was so rude???
So they end up being 9 crackheads in big hit about to debut
their concept was cute at the begining but big hit say no way these girls need more things, they are so vErSaTilE
and it was a mix of bts and txt debut concepts, a total mess but it matched well

Elsword Headcanons #9
Elsword probably loves most food, especially meat. But I also think he really really likes spaghetti. With meatballs of course. I think his least favorite food of all time is probably zucchini. It is the ONE food he actually absolutely will not eat under any circumstances. Even with other vegetables (most of which he's not fond of) he can be bribed convinced to eat them.
Aisha's favorite food is enchiladas. She feels very brave with food to me, willing to try almost anything. Except bugs. She hasn't tried bugs at all and refuses to. Her least favorite food that she has tried is coconuts.
Rena loves cornbread. She loves the process of making it. She likes it best with a little bit of butter and some honey. Her least favorite food is brussel sprouts. She also doesn't like sticky or gummy candy. Also, Grand Archer Rena has a rule where everyone has to take one bite of whatever was made for the whole group before they can get something else. But then they can have whatever they want (as long as it counts as a meal so no, Add cannot take a bite of spaghetti and turn around and have some chocolate).
Raven's favorite food is cheeseburgers. He isn't particularly picky. He doesn't like coleslaw but he will eat it if he must.
Eve doesn't need food but her favorite so far (since she's still trying new things) is loaf cake. Specifically lemon loaf cake. Her least favorite is lima beans. Also, unlike the others, if the rest of the search party is eating something she doesn't like then she does not have to have any of it. She's a machine so she doesn't actually need to eat to remain functional. So that specific rule doesn't apply to her.
Elesis is obsessed with macaroni and cheese. Its almost ridiculous. She would absolutely eat it for every meal if she wasn't as aware of her need for nutrients. She hates asparagus.
Chung's favorite food is ice cream. Specifically vanilla or mint. He doesn't like to have too many strong flavors in his food in general. His least favorite food is fatty red meats. It's more of a texture issue than a flavor issue though. He is capable of eating the meat but CANNOT touch the fat if it's there. And he doesn't have to since he's willing to eat the meat.
Add's favorite other than chocolate and sweets is bread. He also likes biscuits (American biscuits). If Rena let him he would live off bread, sweets, and energy drinks. He absolutely will not eat avocado. He will go hungry if its in anything even if it's just a little bit.
Also, somewhat side note, Add and Chung are the most picky of the entire group. Add is very much against trying new foods and has a habit of making judgements on food without seeing it let alone trying it. Textures are the problem for Chung. Unless of course too many strong flavors are happening at the same time.
Ara likes spicy noodles. She's probably the only one that can eat them as much as she does. Part of that is because of Eun. But yeah. Her least favorite food is tuna. Just the smell makes her feel sick.
Ciel's favorite food is barbecue ribs. Preferably made on a barbecue but he can make due with an oven if he must. His least favorite food is grapes.
Outside of sugar, Lu loves honey mustard chicken. Also, anything that Ciel makes she will love. That being said, Lu hates eggs. Ciel is not allowed to make eggs for her. Ever. But he can make eggs for the others.
Ain loves fruit snacks and fruit roll-ups. He's also a shithead that takes advantage of their conditional memories of him so that he doesn't have to eat his least favorite food. Cuz otherwise he'll have to follow Rena's one bite rule. Its beans. He hates all forms of beans.
Rose refuses to be picky. She will eat whatever is served up. That being said, she really likes broccoli and cheese and she really doesn't like oatmeal.
Laby's favorite food is brownies. Her least favorite food is bananas. They're all squishy. But she'll eat probably anything. And she's very excited to try new things.
