She's a BOOKWORM ! Reading is an activity that's not only stimulating and relaxing at the same time, but can also be an avenue for KNOWLEDGE ⸺ and Jessica's always down to learn.

P A T H O S.
Her first nemesis is Morgan Le Fay, though Jess already knows about the woman from legends when she first encounters her. I feel as though she grew up reading FANTASY books, as most children do, and would dream about going on such fantastic adventures, about being rescued from her locked up tower like the princesses always are. . .

Once she is awoken from stasis, Hydra manipulates her into believing that they are an organisation that fights for the rights of the little guy, taking down the evils of big corporations and others that wish to do harm. But, learning the truth about her captors and watching the terrorism they wrought upon others certainly brings the ETHICS they taught her into question once she escapes. Due to her extensive research to not only learn new, but also unlearn Hydra's lessons, Jess becomes quite knowledge when it comes to PHILOSOPHY. Kant's empirical self vs transcendental self, the concept of Dasein and specifically Heidegger's exploration of it, and a load of Sartre's teachings are some examples I can think of that would stand out to Jessica the most as she not only enters society after escaping, but as she explores herself for the first time as well. She also reads a good few basic biology and biochemistry books, mostly as an attempt to learn how humans actually work since she never learned ⸺ but also to find out how she differs from the rest of them. Her innate thirst for SCIENCE is always there, and early on it easily manifests through her choice to read these sorts of books. ( Yes her best friend is literally The Space Hero™️ and yes she may love Star Trek more than almost anything. . . No she has not read nonfiction books about space. "I've learned all I need to know about it through Carol and by going there myself. And that's more than enough, thanks." )

It doesn't take long for her to get into mystery and DETECTIVE novels, quickly striking up a love for the genre. Agatha Christie novels in particular are her favourite, really enjoying any good whodunit? story. Reading these sorts of books is one of the things that initially puts the idea of becoming a Private Investigator into her mind. These days, her favourite remains detective novels ⸺ go figure. But other favourites include SCIENCE FICTION and ROMANCE novels. She doesn't mind the normal romances, but she'd prefer to have one with a vampire or something of the like in it. And, while she may not like being in space, nor care to read about the real life ins and outs, she does enjoy it as a background for her escapism. Also, I don't know where else to add this in but ⸺ you give her an instruction guide ? If she's interested in whatever the subject matter is, she'll read the damn thing cover to cover. Unless it's a MASSIVE manual, like the giant gd one for autoCAD ( i do not picture her using CAD btw it's just the first thing that came to mind hgjksdg ). She wouldn't read something like that page by page, c'mon now.

UUUUUUH a political theory derived from Karl Marx, advocating class war and leading to a society in which all property is publicly owned and each person works and is paid according to their abilities and needs?
Idk? :∆

New Dog's Life chapter today! Only the most expected Traffic SMP content in this 'fic <3
Chapter 7 - “Firebreak (Etho)”
Read on AO3
Start from Chapter 1
---
After dumping PiglinMyNose off at Jimmy's game night, Etho searches the portal hub for SnifferMyFeet. Pig may have laughed in his face over the whole "let me look at your code so I can rebuild Joel's vessel" thing, but maybe Sniff will take the bait?
AKA - The one where Etho drinks his Respect Camera Account juice, discovers he has a half-ex, and commits a crime.
(First 1,000 words under the cut)
Etho
Self-Taught Programmer
Full-Time Hero
💚    ❤️
Etho doesn’t make a habit of frequenting Jimmy’s parties. Tango’s? Sure; he loves the guy. Tango knows how to play him like a note block, hitting all his greedy keys and collector’s instincts. Tango deals cards of his own making. He customizes every party like a snare. And he themes his snacks; that man does not cut corners. Which isn’t a slight at Jimmy; no, no, no! It’s just…
… My line of work never lends itself to drinking. Especially on nights like tonight. Oh boy. He’s got a whole lot of work to do. As he and PiglinMyNose approach the card shop, Etho pulls the communicator from his pocket and glances at the screen. Right, okay. Three things to note here:
One full Overworld day/night cycle has passed since Joel’s vessel started disintegrating.
He gets twelve before the Between dimension kicks him to his original soul spawner. If it’s still standing. It needs to be standing; Etho’s hearts can’t take another strand of pressure.
Three hours is not a lot of time to do the aforementioned ‘a whole lot of work.’
Well, this is why they think I pull off miracles. He’s never failed before… in a way that anyone would hold against him. But as they climb the outdoor stairs towards the roof of the card shop, Etho… presses his tongue against the inside of his cheek. So, Pig bailed. If I don’t find a new model, I’m dead in the water. Then Joel’s going back to spawn town.
Yeah. Because he totally wants to be the one to tell Lizzie her husband isn’t coming home.
Etho’s comm is still glowing blue. His screen displays a pulsing infinity sign, indicating his player’s still online (definitely fiddling around on the single-player). All the block updates are logged to the world file and since he’s playing solo, Etho technically doesn’t need to be there… though his neck twitches instinctively in that direction, and in his newbie days he definitely couldn’t have broken the pathfinding pull. That’s one of the benefits of dedicating your whole life to a couple single-player series, actually. Once you’ve been around long enough, you’ve got a system. You get a feel for when it’s okay to step away without everything crashing down.
But time ticks regardless. Once he passes into sunset hour, the screen in his hand will glow orange. And when it hits green… Well.
That’s phantom hour. And no one ever makes it to the end of phantom hour.
Correction: One person has. But that’s because Martyn pushes himself farther than his body can handle for the sake of his newest partner in crime. He’s stupid soft on them. Not Etho’s business; just a rumor he heard floating between Pearl and BigB a couple months ago.
Anyways. Yeah, he’s got time to be here. When the big boss logs out, the infinity sign will click over to a timer and start ticking down. Etho’s an oldie; he’s built up his stamina and he can last in Between longer than most. Maybe… six hours without a break? That sounds right these days. He’s pulled multi-play sessions before, and though they leave him exhausted, he’ll do it again. He’ll do it a thousand times for no one but himself. It’s relaxing, honestly. No one can need you when you’re the only one in the friend group left awake.
“Pig, can I see your comm?”
Piggy Boy moves like he wants everyone to know he’s a newbie, loud and clear. His mismatched shoes smack on every step. Jimmy always hosts his parties in the rooftop garden of Beef’s card shop and Pig skirts back and forth, peering over the stairs. They’re nice stairs; Scott put a lot of thought into picking a stone design that isn’t slippery. Pig leans so far that he drips blue slime droplets on the road below. He stares for a few seconds, then seems to register the question. His comm’s on his wrist. He extends his arm towards Etho without looking over. Etho glances at the screen. The timer’s steadily pulsing, orange glow undeniable.
I guess that makes sense. He’s Joel’s camera account… and Joel’s player would’ve been kicked when his vessel broke apart. That’s probably what this whole thing translates to in the outside land. A weird bug. Another glitch in the system. Overheated device, maybe. Nothing a little turning things on and off again won’t fix. Thoughts and prayers. Give it time.
Etho blinks, quietly, and tries not to envy Watcher Joel.
“Oh! Oh, what in the world? Dude, I’ve never actually seen the clock tower before! Any other day, I’d just go straight home. Sniff’s so fussy when I’m late; he’s just one of those silly gooses.”
“Pig, come on,” Etho calls softly. “Let’s keep it moving. You’re gonna drip all over the stairs. Let’s keep moving, okay?”
Pig bobs his head and sprints up the rest of the stairs to the garden. Oh boy. Etho keeps right on his heels. There’s chatter, but it’s pretty mild at this time of afternoon. Even with the break they took after the server glitch, Grian still let them out early and Jimmy’s got a couple hours to go before game night starts. As Etho crests the final step, he spots the canary-winged man hanging up a little ‘Welcome’ banner, chatting with BigB and Tango. Tango’s really into it, making wild arm gestures. His flicking tail could knock the feathers off a chicken. BigB sits on the railing with his moth wings twitching, glancing back like he’s watching for someone to pass through the streets below. And Impulse stands on Tango’s other side, rubbing his eyes with intent to kill. Geez. Somebody squirt hot sauce in them or something?
None of them pay any attention to the two newcomers at the top of the stairs. Bdubs and Martyn, however, snap around like they’ve been shot. They abandon the azalea they were looking at so fast, it’s like they were waiting for an excuse. Ah. They can smell Pig’s invisible sync cord ticking down through sunset hour. It’s what phantom hybrids do.
“Heeeey, gorgeous,” Bdubs crows, ducking forward. He keeps his hands clasped behind his back, his mossy cloak swishing like a cape behind him. Now that they’re off the Dog’s Life server, Bdubs isn’t using his battered, bruised skin anymore. His smile could sink a sandstorm. There’s light and dancing in his sugar-brown eyes, and Etho wraps a warning arm around Pig’s shoulders. Bdubs ticks his tongue and veers away at a slant. “You’re off spectator for the evening, huh? I see how it is! Well, you’re in luck. It’s party time tonight and you’re in the best part of town!”
Pig, oblivious, smiles back at him. “There he is! Well, hello there! And yeah, I’m doing fantastic, actually; we love to see it.”
Jimmy’s distant voice trails off. He turns. Etho catches one split-second of shock before Martyn’s head blocks his view. Martyn straightens, poised as though presenting himself before a king, with a glass of sparkling cyan balanced in his hand. “Aww, it’s baby’s first corporeal night, then? Come get a drink, Pig! It is ‘Pig,’ right? We’ve got 1s.”
“What’s 1s?” Pig asks, absently brushing Etho’s arm from his shoulder. Etho presses his lips together, but doesn’t replace it. He steps to the side, a little closer to Bdubs.
“You know! Numbers!” Martyn thrusts his glass in the air. The binary code sloshes around inside. “It’s the blue one. Tastes a bit like sushi and a li’l like chocolate. Give it a sip, if you’re up for it. You might like it. Though it’s a little flat this time of eve, if I’m honest… It’ll perk up once the night gets rolling.”
Pig reaches for Martyn’s glass, which sends Martyn backpedaling and spluttering, telling him to keep his mitts off and go fetch his own. Etho winces.
“Pig, you might wanna stick to 0s…”
“I want a glass of 1s,” he says, pushing forward, and Martyn, beaming, swings an arm around Pig’s neck.
“Well, you heard the guy! He maxes out experience points tonight. Let’s get him his 1s!”

fully expect one of the twists of btsv to be 42!miles being/becoming a vigilante, thereby showing that the universe does not need spider-man specifically but rather anyone, anywhere, at any time to rise up and choose to make a difference; "anyone can wear the mask." the spider chose them, but they are the ones who made spider-man.

Gonna review all the sources I've been provided with (they're damning for the zio so rip to them but thanks for the sources lmao), and been searching through more sources from the time periods in question and, well, basically I started a thing.
Tumblr media
(sorry for the blurriness) An overall essay going through the evidence and providing a small splash of input as someone noticing a lot of discord in said evidence, which isn't surprising but still it is telling how zionists cherry pick.
Anyway, the more I learn, the more I realise that there's a lot of political and nationalistic push to emit details in some papers, while pushing for certain conclusions based on the framing of the research for others. I think this is legitimately just unproductive when acknowledging the subjectivity of history as a study and the way certain overlap may point to a conclusion that isn't preferable by a variety of people, from researchers to the intuitions that may use or pay for the research to begin with. I find this in studies that delve into contentious topics in general. It's why it's so important to note the overlap and notice the inevitability of bias in understanding these topics.
As far as the history the Middle East goes and who colonised who, I think many disregard the simple theory that, perhaps, colonisation itself can be something inflicted by the post-colonised and equally be something done to a group with connections to conquest, ultimately making both the same in terms of land rights and the concept of legal ownership. Or, more specifically, that Zionists' attempts to become conquests have since reduced their claim, just as it would reduce a Babylonian, despite their deep links to the land and, arguably, being one of the first social groups before or at the same time as the Israelites.
History and Carbon Dating specifically become difficult to assign moral value of land rights to when cultures blossom and change in such extreme ways (to the point of being unrelated or unrecognisable with those from ancient eras) with the passing of time. The racial blame placed by Israel is thus shown to be one of mistaken vengeance and generally racial profiling of modern Arabs, just as the Persian, Turkish, Roman and British empires showed signs of racist attitudes to employ totalitarian tactics of rule over the peasantry. Being the colonised when one is willing to colonise with the same means reduces the ethical claims and, meanwhile, the history itself reflects greater nuance than political nationalists may desire of it.
Ultimately, as I search further and further, I find that the claim of nationalism and identity is a mere shared ideal of all empires formed through conquest and the desire for ownership of abundant resources. Meanwhile, I find that the idea of an ancient homeland to reclaim is obsolete when the people in question do not resemble those they wish to avenge. Culture evolves with geography and time, a constant for every country's history. Religion, culture and the concept of a homeland forms where the resources are abundant, rather than any legitimate greater or lesser claim from neighbouring tribes and civilisations. The wish of a Promised Land is a logical conclusion for any group seeking refuge from the elements; a moral argument filled with human necessity and a shared common ground if faced with an open mind and a willingness to review the past, while simultaneously moving on from it. The complexity becomes simple when it is understood that only the present can take responsibility for the present; and choose a better path than those who horde resources in the modern age of globalised colonialism.
#My thoughts so far#If anyone has anything to add or want to recommend any sources; please let me know#writing#history#essay draft#blog post#history of the middle east#ethics#culture#religion#I will elaborate more later but I will add as well that Israel has genuinely and clearly adopted German nationalism into its belief system#while the most obvious would be the “strongest army in the world” quoted from Germany by Israel#a more direct and consequential one is the usage of land back and homeland to an older ancestry to justify nationalist intent#Regardless of the truth of that claim or not it is one that is weaponised in the same way#but it honestly doesn't matter because the purpose isn't so much about the truth or the genuine pain suffered by past colonializations#but rather to serve a political power that uses a totalitarian method of conquest in the name of that ethos#it is one that is founded in European political systems and has since been used by Israel which does use the tactic of victimisation#Which is also what Germany did use to claim they had to invade#And yes similar (though not as directly copied) tactics have been used in the past; even against the ancient Israelites#The Roman Empire even coined the term that perfectly describes this tactic;#"Two things only the people anxiously desire — bread and circuses.”#A spectacle to distract from the inner political issues and inequalities has always been a tactic employed by conquests and colonisations#And yes Israel has used it as well and it results in a genuine hatred of Israel for what it has done and the methods used#So when I look back at the history of colonisation I do see a lot of patterns and a lot of the same justifications#If it weren't happening today and were a historic event I would even call it fascinating how such methods are passed down specifically-#-within and around the Asian Eurasian and European regions#It's why Israel as an existence is antithetical to land back movements and contradictory to arguments of indigenous sovereignty#All the while it being technically true they're (particularly in terms of sacred practices and culture) indigenous to this place#yet it is reduced by the fact the same colonial techniques used against them are ones they now employ and consequentially pass down#The Palestinians are indigenous because they are being colonised and no matter what claim an Israeli may have it becomes redundant

one thing i need you all to realize is that you have to fight like hell for the marginalized people you don’t like. you have to fight for the cringey discourse queer and the misogynistic man of color and the transphobic cis woman and the politically conservative jew and the racist disabled person. you don’t have to like them or agree with them. but if you see them experiencing bigotry and you are a person who claims to be against bigotry, you are obligated to fight for them. you have to fight against bigotry, even if you don’t like the target of that bigotry, because as soon as you let yourself slip, as soon as you allow bigotry on your watch, even if it is directed at the shittiest person you’ve ever met, you’ve now established that in your personal ethos bigotry isn’t wrong, it’s a weapon. and as soon as you’re okay with bigotry being used as a weapon, you have already lost.
