Well, another day, another way the National Hockey League has found to disappoint me. At this rate I'm no longer even surprised. Just sad. Very very sad.

Anyway here’s one of those fancy two month Film Logs last seen in August/September 2022 only this time there’s a Top Ten compiled from both months. A few TV things make it into the list. I’m sometimes unsure about putting TV in the *Film* Log but The End of the F***ing World is great and I was very taken with Behind Her Eyes because it actually surprised me in the direction it took, such an unusual experience nowadays, plus the two female leads were very attractive. Elon Musk’s takeover of Twitter is important news but it’s a struggle to make sense of it.

There are some folks like Rebecca MacKinnon, Jillian York, Cory Doctorow, Ethan Zuckerman, and many others who have been thinking hard about the Internet for a long time. I  wish I had paid more attention! 

Dave Winer keeps the longest running Blog on the Internet, Scripting News.  So much as happened in re Twitter in a week that November 5 seems ancient histiory, but I have revisited Winers posts from that day  and revisited them. The burning questions are What do we want? and How do we get there from here? Winer points to a post he wrote in 2007, Twitter as coral reef that rings true for me.

Yesterday he wrote:

Malachi Kirby to Star in “Anansi Boys”

Malachi Kirby has joined the cast of Amazon’s Anansi Boys, based on the novel by Neil Gaiman. Kirby joins the previously cast Delroy Lindo (Mr. Nancy / Anansi). Kirby will portray both Charlie Nancy and Spider. Gaiman and Sir Lenny Henry are writing the six-episode limited series along with Arvind Ethan David, Kara Smith, and Racheal Ofori. Gaiman and Douglas Mackinnon will serve as co-showrunners.

Anansi Boys follows timid Londoner Charles Nancy. Charles finds out that his father, Mr. Nancy, has died. Charles then discovers that Mr. Nancy is in fact the trickster spider god Anansi. Also, Charles’ heretofore unknown brother Spider is about to make Charles’ life very interesting.
