ok so in order to get more reliable proteins I did some googling regarding amino acid frequency and letter frequency in languages using Latin scripts. What I think we need is a language that has roughly even distribution of letter frequency across the FASTA amino acid codes. I don’t know which languages, if any, actually fit that description: Czech seems to come closest, with the most common letter at 8% vs 12% for English, but it also has a lot of unusable letters. We may need to ask linguistics blogs for help. anyway to make the protein longer here’s a list of the most common letters in a bunch of languages from Wikipedia, Google translated into Czech:

i'm really interested to see how this turns out! i do remove all letters that don't code for proteinogenic amino acids, but for letters with accents that otherwise match i just remove the accent. (eg. č becomes c). i don't know if the accented letters are considered different letters though, so i'm not sure how that affects frequency calculations. i did worry that if they are entirely different letters it may come off as disrespectful to change them rather than remove them entirely, so if any of y'all have an opinion either way please let me know so i can apply it to future posts!

its interesting that some parts of this look much nicer than others. we have some great helices generally all in one area, and while they may be a bit far apart, they are still on the better side for a structure on this blog specifically, especially for one that is on the larger side. even the loops vary, with some being nice and squiggly while others are a lot smoother and straighter. however, the confidence is similarly low throughout. the better looking parts do generally seem to line up with the non-english portions, so this may be my fault for including the entire text instead of just parts of it. either way though, this is a really neat thing to see and i'm excited to look at the other asks i've gotten trying out different languages!

HC Expansion: Etaoin's Possession

As mention in the HC Post of the Seven Sins, Etaoin is Xibalba's Sin of Envy; as such, Etaoin wants to be everyone, and doesn't care how shallow she sounds because of it.

In order to possess a host, she has to, usually, corner them and get them nice and afraid; something to let her get a hold of them out of their fear. Her Neurotoxins are more potent than other Nihilego, in which can make people be paralyzed in fear.

(Using Raven as an example) Once finding the perfect prey, the real Person goes into a state of stasis, encapsuled by a cocoon of what looks like a Nihilego sheet made of gelatin. Etaoin makes a copy of the person's body with her own and masquerades as them to do her job a little more secretly. Normally, people will die when Etaoin traps them, but any other person's muse who is captured are encouraged to escape, for some body double shenanigans.

IMPORTANT: If Etaoin does manage to capture your muse; like I said before, you are free to have your muse escape their gelatin prison to try and take back their life before Etaoin ruins it somehow. ALSO IMPORTANT: If you're fine with me using your icons for Etaoin's Transformation, please let me know! Otherwise I'll just use Etaoin's usual FC for interactions. People that Etaoin is currently posing as will be signified by the little Nihilego stamp on the icon.

However, this transformation isn't... perfect. Etaoin can perfectly replicate someone's looks; from their height, weight, and skin-deep imperfections and birthmarks... but she can't replicate anything else; most importantly, Personality or Memories. Overall, I am glad you confirmed what the Lazarus Water and Kryptonite tastes like. I've never wondered what Kryptonite tastes like (which I now realize is a mistake. I should have been wondering this entire time). Lazarus Pits, though, I thought tasted like sweet sweaty death and Bug Juice drink. Blue cotton candy is much tastier.

Phoenix Quill's Inktober: Day 3, the Dragon Witch

She's a red dragon, and they don't tend to study witchery, wizardry and such, so she's an odd one out amongst red dragons. She's known as THE dragon witch because of that, even though there are technically more dragon witches of other species.

She didn't have a teacher and got by learning magic by deciphering books and experimenting, because of that her magic is kinda "off-brand", you see, she couldn't read the books that well so she kinda guessed what they said, with lots of trial and error, she felt like she learned the books but she actually made it totally different. She started to write her own magic book with how she makes her spells and her instructions are things like "[...]think about something you hate and hold your wand tight[...]", "[...]you need to break open a clam and eat it, but only if it's red[...]", "[...]rub your wand for it to work", "drink swamp water", "it necessitates you taking 7 cockatrices' organs, all of them for no chance of failure", "and stab them with your wand, clean the blood later or use it for spells" and such. She has such a way with words.

She also holds her wand with a fist, which is deemed incorrect by the Benona Witch Comittee, here are some words from their members about her:
