Something I love about TOH is how it lets adults be wrong and make mistakes and be whole messes that do not have their shit together because... yeah, that's just life. Adults aren't so put together as one believes when they're a child, and of course they can act rashly and fuck up because of their emotions and generally experience the entire spectrum of human emotion.
It would be lovely if the fandom would be less racist about it tho.
It keeps driving me mad to think about because with characters of color, one mistake is taken and generalized as their entire behavior despite having proof that it was a one time thing, a extreme born out of emotion or after many things have happened, while for white characters it's well understood it was a one time instance.
Nobody took Eda's "I'm going to break every bone of your body" toward King (who, mind you, is like 8yo and the kid she raised since he was a baby) seriously, nor said "Eda totally threatens King with bodily harm every time she's angry". It wasn't a serious threat, King wasn't bothered by her because he knew that, and the world kept spinning, nobody made a bigger deal of that than it had to be, despite the fact that it's objectively a horrible thing to say to your kid.
Nobody said either "every time Eda is feeling unneeded, she avoids talking to her kids and ignores them for days and then attempts murder-suicide on the name of good", although the avoidance aspect of it at least IS more in tune with her general lack of coping mechanisms.
Now, Camila making Luz go to camp? Suddenly she was the devil and evil, and Eda should take full custody of Luz, despite the fact Camila was shown as gentle and loving since moment one, and your kid endangering other kids by bringing live snakes and fireworks to school is objectively something alarming that can't be swept under the rug. There was no point at which Camila was depicted as anything but loving and concerned, even during Grom, Luz's fear was about hurting Camila rather than Camila hurting her and yet people insisted she was abusive until Thanks to Them.
Even after Yesterday's Lie. I mean, Luz is 14. I don't know about you, but if I had a kid known for being a bit careless and reckless and act first before thinking, I would be worried sick knowing she's in a land where half the things alive try to eat you and it's also ruled by a genocidal emperor. Hell, even if my kid wasn't reckless, I would be clawing at the walls about it. Camila wasn't being evil for wanting Luz to stay by her side, especially since they only had each other.
Then, of course, there's Darius.
I'm so sick of people being condescending to people who like Dadrius, even in art posts, all like "guys, but don't forget Darius was shitty to Hunter for years", because it's exactly what I'm talking about of taking one event and extrapolating it toward his entire behavior despite the fact the information we have been provided indicates that was a one time thing. Not only we have the Palisman Logs that confirm Darius usually didn't pay attention to Hunter, which, mind you, isn't a crime because he had no responsibility over Hunter and everyone thought Hunter was being treated well by Belos, but we also have the hint of Darius reacting so viciously because of Hunter sewing the Golden Guard's sigil on his cloak and reminding him of his mentor, which is not something that happened every thursday.
I know everyone understands actions born out of emotion in adults, no matter how wrong they are, because of Eda and even some of the other adults who objectively speaking did way worse in the matter of mistakes toward their children, like Gwen or Alador. Yet, people keep refusing to believe that Darius only did that once but nobody ever says "yes, here are the examples and clues that he was this way for years" (because they do not exist) and just keep repeating that he did or that he has the vibes of someone who did (bestie, that's just racism).
It's so strange because Hunter is not stupid. He knew to be on guard of Kikimora and Kikimora was always shitty to him. He can take a clue, he's not a baby. He refused to accept the help of the Owl Fam and the Hexsquad for a good while because they were "the enemy" and in his head he had the idea that he shouldn't trust them even if he wanted to. Hunter's behavior is affected deeply by Belos' abuse, but he wasn't reacting to everyone in the way he did to Belos, excusing their behavior and generally letting them all walk all over him.
If Darius really had picked on him for years, he wouldn't have been so quick to trust him after Any Sport in a Storm, and we got a bunch of little mentions and hints that point to how their bond started to grow behind curtains, which would be really weird if Darius had always been an overly hostile presence in Hunter's life before. Can you imagine him being all chill with Kikimora if she had hypothetically went "oh, well, I guess I was wrong for trying to murder you"? Hell no.
Even Perry and the Parks didn't got spared from this.
Of course their reactions to their kids getting expelled could have been more graceful, but they were evidently not thinking super clearly at the moment and every other moment we've seen them with their kids, they have been loving and supportive. Hell, even in that same episode we saw how the Parks were, if anything, more concerned about Willow's education to the point they were willing to change their whole life to be able to stay to homeschool her.
Adults make mistakes. People make mistakes.
Stop acting like people of color can't make mistakes without being the epitome of evil.

Another thing that gets me about the fandom's reaction to Darius is that, ok, even if you think there should've been a scene of him directly apologizing to Hunter, considering the age of the target audience... why is Darius specifically singled out and condemed for the absence of such a scene when there is a pattern in the show of the characters displaying 'worse' behavior in the beginning and then switching to a milder characterization without the narrative focusing on the change?
Amity making her abomination draw on Willow's forehead when they are all alone, s1 Lilith looking down on others and her weird comments about humans, Bump's characterization switch before and after Hunting Palisman, Alador playing with Bump's palisman (that helps him see!!!) while his daughter's friends are getting expelled, Collector seemingly acting gleefuly over others suffering in s2? Even many of Eda's interactions with King who is meant to be 8 old. And some of these you can interpret as intentional absense of the full info at the beginning and some of the switches might be excused with character development happening off screen (i even began to understand Bump's characterization switch better on the rewatch)... still in my opinion there is a certain writing awkwardness in many of these cases, and i find this pattern to be one of the flaws of the show.
Yet all these are often excused or even barely aknowledged by the fandom, and when not excused then are seen as flaws in the writing, but not the end of the world for those characters.
And, ok, i admit, i don't actually think Darius really falls into that pattern, i think his behavior is much more consistent than the examples above and more easily explained, if you think about his character for a moment and pay attention to his scenes instead of condeming him outright. I think his relationship with Hunter is a very straighforward case of the 'adult is mean to a child before getting attached' that is played out again and again in media, often with the adults being meaner and for a longer time towards even younger kids. And that trope should be examined critically too, sure, but why is the Black character condemed for it like this, but not all the white characters across all those other shows and books and games and comics? Although i do think there should've been a moment of Darius apologizing to Hunter or talking to someone else about his thought process, but i would want it more for Darius's own character, not because i think he did something so irredeemable.
So why is then Darius's case so different for the toh fandom specifically? If you (general you) also see all those other cases above as flawed writing, then why is only Darius so widely condemned as a person instead of looking at his writing from the same perspective? Especially since ASIAS had not even allowed Willow - a major character - to have a conclusion for her part of the story. Maybe a better point of discussion would be why toh's characters of color get less time dedicated to them and their development than white characters of the same narrative importance. Why did Alador get 2 episodes where he could verbalize his thoughts, why did Gwen get the resolution in one episode that still had some focus on her thought process and realization of her mistakes?
And if you don't see all those other cases as a writing flaw at all and think it is natural for all those other characters to have offscreen development or excuse everything - even the sidelining of Gus and Willow - with the shortening, then why is Darius viewed differently and why does he have to self-flagellate for his mistakes on screen or otherwise he is a considered a bad person in-universe and a bad character unworthy of positive attention?
Why was Camila also widely hated before s3 and had to 'prove' herself in the fandom's eyes by taking care of the white child and being a fellow pop-culture nerd all the while Eda had threatened an elementary schooler with physical violence over stealing her elixir and still was considered the best? How did the super fans manage to examine all those memory portraits and figure out the story for Caleb and Evelyn or invent a sob story for Graye after one episode, but the oddities with Darius's supposed villainy in ER or even his openly upset expressions during the Blimp scene in ASIAS didn't even register for them?

I swear to the genderfluid titan dad, I’m not going to make post after post about this topic. This is going to be a small little thing just discussing some confusion I have towards a subset of this fandom. And it’ll probably be my last post on the matter because the people I am talking about tend to get very aggressive if you disagree with them. I’m not looking to get into Tumblr fights especially with someone who’s just going to be rude as hell.
Shipping Hunter and Luz together… I don’t get it. Truly and honestly I do not understand it in the slightest. For a lot of fictional relationships, I can see why someone would like that. But I can’t with this one. Who knows? Maybe I’m just biased because I like Lumity and Huntlow. But also, from the time of seeing Hunting Palisman, I got the sense that a brother/sister bond was forming between them. And I do feel like it was sort of formed in that direction. It’s not as explicit as Luz’s bond with King where King refers to Luz as his sister, of course. But you don’t need to outwardly say something for it to be true.
This isn’t a Zutara case where the writers wanted them to be together but the show creators refused it. I get the impression that no one in the ToH crew wanted Luz and Hunter to get together. They draw Luz and Amity in sweet little romantic settings. They draw Hunter and Willow in sweet little romantic settings. If they do draw Hunter and Luz together in a fun/not really canon manner, it usually reads as a sibling-like relationship.
Usually when I ship something there’s a romantic theme I could potentially see. I go back to Zutara with this. There were (maybe accidental) parallels between the two of them. The artists (maybe accidentally) drew the cave of two lovers with their color schemes. There were multiple moments where, if the creator’s weren’t so darn stubborn, we could look back at those moments as building up to them getting together if they did. I don’t see any romantic potential between Luz or Hunter. I see them as platonic partners. I see them as two kids who found each other and formed a love that you have with a sibling.

Greetings Rise fandom! I got another concept for you all!
This could be for its own au, but this is something I'm planning to add into my Dragon Turtles au. I got to thinking about how the turtles could advance with their mystic abilities after the events of the movie, and that's when I got the idea that the bros could gain familiars. Basically, think of these creatures as something like the Palismans from The Owl House, except instead of turning into staffs, they become more like totems, jewelry, or other small, inanimate objects that could be carried around in case of emergencies.
As for how they got them, I like to picture a sort of traveling market that popped up outside of Witch Town. That way all the bros can explore it out of curiosity without getting into trouble with the residents. And as for each one, they all chose the turtles based on a mystic connection. And each one is unique, so let's get into who got who:
Raph: Ursa Minor cub. Bears are classified as strong earth-based guardian spirits, but I wanted Raph's little buddy to be about more than just strength. I also wanted a mystic creature he could show a softer side with. One without worry of getting hurt by the amount of mental anguish suffered at the hands of the Krang turned possibly physical. Hence the decision to give Raph what is essentially a perfect sized teddy bear that also doubles as his mystic partner.
Donnie: Albino Basilisk. Now, I had quite a bit of debate on what to give Donnie as a familiar. I considered something like a rabbit or a cat, but that felt a bit too obvious or overdone. This version of Donnie deserved something unique, so I started looking for alternative animals. The basilisk stuck out to me in a few ways. One, snakes are usually connected to water. Two, making the creature albino means that it would have difficulties surviving, and would have to think outside the box to live in certain conditions. Kind of like Donnie and his soft shell. Making this serpent in particular a fast thinking/highly intelligent creature. Also, much like how Donnie could be misunderstood as a cold and closed off individual, so too are snakes. Snakes can be highly misunderstood as cold, efficient, killing creatures of evil, but some out there actually have calm and friendly temperaments. And while it would take Donnie a while to get over the creepy feeling of them crawling over him, the feel of the smooth skin would probably be great for someone who is theorized to have certain sensitivities to certain textures. Not to mention that the gentle massaging feels of them gently constricting him in a not-too-tight fashion could help keep him grounded in a mental spiral. (And yes, I based the design off of 2012's serpent Karai. it was an intentional reference)
Mikey: Phoenix. Mikey's was an obvious one for me to do. Being the most Mystically connected out of the brothers means he had the highest chances of bonding with a very powerful creature. Enter the phoenix, a firebird with the ability to be reborn from the ashes of an old life. Colorful, graceful, and powerful, the phoenix can also have a soft or even mischievous side to it. A fun-loving creature with great abilities to help a fledging mystic warrior like Mikey gain his proper footing in using them. Especially without hurting himself, like with the portal at the end of the movie. As well as helping him gain confidence to stand on his own when his brothers can't help him.
Leo: Kirin. Leo was also a hard one to figure out. I considered animals like stags, deer, elk and the like. But then, I remembered that Leo had a liking for Unicorns, however I didn't just want to give him a generic unicorn. That's when inspiration struck. I was revisiting the OVA series of Petshop of Horrors, and in the 4th episode, it talked about the Kirin. The Kirin is stated to be a holy beast, who serves no one but it's sovereign. Therefore, the person to gain possession of the Kirin, was destined to be a great ruler. That's when it all clicked into place. The Kirin is not only the Eastern equivalent to the unicorn, but a lot of what it represents could tie into Leo's struggles of being a better leader after the movie. Sovereign is another word for king or leader, and in ancient Chinese/general Asian lore, the arrival of a Kirin was meant to signify the coming or going of a great leading figure. A creature that was benevolent to its allies and had ruthless furry for its enemies. And not just anyone could choose a Kirin as a familiar or guardian spirit, it had to choose you. And after everything Leo went through, fears of failure, the pressures of leadership, the guilt of causing/nearly causing the apocalypse, he would need some kind of sign or reassurance that he was back on the right track. That he was improving and could be a good leader like Casey Jr. said. And what better way than to be chosen by a great mythic beast, with its own set of scars, to choose him to be its leader. If that doesn't prove Leo's leadership capabilities, I don't know what would.
Anywho, thanks for reading my crazed ramblings, and I hope you enjoy the content. Feel free to comment and let me know your thoughts on the concept. Hope to see you soon!

I recently started reading "Harry Potter and the Boiling Isles" on AO3 and this story has a disgustingly tight grip on me. I know that the author made some designs for the characters already but I felt like I should just share what I had in mind when I first started reading. Especially since the whole entire document became CORRUPTED somehow and now none of the unrendered color versions and sketches are all lost and can never be recovered, which hurt my soul much more than I expected it to.
I first started designing it and put a stupid amount of worry into whether Harry should have a jacket or not in Season 1, which is currently taking place. I'll get into why I'm divided between the jacket/no jacket look later but Ron was particularly hard. I couldn't decide if I should go the book/description loyal route or Rupert Grint inspired route because, honestly, I never read the books so I will always imagine Ron as the average height guy that Rupert Grin has encompassed for the kid. I decided to just go with what inspired me more, which isn't so book accurate but was more fun to draw. And drawing it in the Owl House style was an interesting exercise in learning line weight and simplification of design. Though I'm pretty sure these would still need further simplifying, specifically for the belts and collar textures.
Mild spoilers and speculations for later in the story, I guess?
I'm sure that it's not much of a spoiler as it is implied that Ron will be studying abomination magic and that Harry and Lilith will reconcile at some point, so I made my post-show future designs reflect that. If Luz is 18 when the epilogue takes place, Harry and Ron would be like 15 or something so they would be like fourth or fifth years. Harry is wearing Lilith's grudgby jacket--like how Luz wears Eda's--and continues attending Hogwarts (don't ask me how with the whole Wizarding War situation, just let me be happy) and Ron decided to stay in the Boiling Isles to apprentice under Alador or Darius, even if it might seem a bit out of character. But, eh, Weasley's are ambitious folk and to become the first Weasley to master Abomination magic as a human would totally outdo all his other siblings at the dinner table and parties.
I mentioned being torn on taking away Harry's jacket in his season 1 design because I imagine Lilith would come clean about being Harry's mom at some point during or before Season 2, which is where I would imagine Harry would end up wearing her grugby jacket. And I wanted it to feel significantly different from his season 1 design because him wearing it would be a MAJOR development in the story and his relationship with Lilith. I also added more to Lilith's jacket because it felt a little bare compared to Eda's, but I will post that later when I redraw the designs.
I had a season 2 lineup cleaned up and colored too but I never saved it out so that version is lost forever where Ron wore some edgy ripped vest with abomination goo or whatever but I haven't finalized his design because it's always come as an afterthought and the kid deserves better than that.
Anyways, I imagine that by the end of the series, if the author is kind, there will be not much more physical scarring on the poor children after all their inevitable trauma. Harry will get a palisman at some point, which I headcannon to be a peryton (a winged deer with antlers) that he names Prongs (I dunno how he gets the name, I dunno if he knows his dad's nickname yet). Prongs came from the Forest of the Forgotten who used to belong to a jerkass grudgby player who threw them out after one of their wings broke off, which the flyer found unacceptable because it would "affect their speed". Prongs became attracted to Harry's passion for Quidditch and missed competing in a sport, so they bonded with Harry through that. I decided that Ron's will be a capricorn, because I imagine the ram would be a good representation of how stubborn he is but the tail end would sorta represent his almost contradictory flexibility under pressure. I haven't finalized the design and am still on the edge of changing it because drawing a capricorn is SO FUCKING HARD, so the little palisman is not present in the lineup.
None of this should be taken as actual spoilers for the story as I am literally making fanart of a fanfiction, so none of this is author approved.
But if they end up liking it, I would not mind them working with these ideas which would be a huge honor.

Hello, friend!!! I hope you have been well, and your cats too 💖
Nowz for the TOH ask game... 2, 8, 16? 👀
Thank you, pal, you're so sweet and I hope you've been doing well too! 💖✨
2. Favorite episode of season 2?
Tbh S2 fucks so hard I'm not sure I can pick a favorite. I have to cheat by picking one for both the first half and second half of the season haha!
S2A might have to go to Knock Knock Knockin' on Hooty's Door, the amount of speed running plot development all thanks to Hooty my favorite weirdo, it was just insane. I remember when the episode first aired and how much it made my brain boil from what it revealed about Eda's backstory and the growth of accepting the beast resulting in her hot harpy form, the bits of world building with King's situation that continued on from what Echoes of the Past started, and obviously Lumity became canon. I genuinely expected it to take the entire show for them to start dating but no they got together about half way into the show, all thanks to Hooty meddling in everyone's business. Hooty was always one of my favs and the way he was treated in S1 always bummed me out, so this episode both addressing how excluded he felt while also having him (kinda accidentally) provide the much needed pushes for each of King, Eda, and Luz was just 🤌 the ending too omg the way everyone freaked out about him eating that letter then womp womp it ended up being a good thing he did haha
S2B I have to pick Any Sport In A Storm.
Listen. Listen. This episode is such a comfort, ok? It's got Hunter development where he finally gets to socialize (in a healthy way) with other kids, Willow gets her design update AND she's finally genuinely developing confidence in herself, "what was that?" "I SAID IT WAS COOL >:(", Skara and Viney join the group (which also allowed Skara to develop past just being a popular mean girl), "ice pack for Steve" "Steve is beginning to regret his choices", and of course, Darius. Darius my beloved, the small backstory reveal with the previous GG, "Little Prince (derogatory)" he really does canon use cute nicknames to be hostile, the abomination PJs & also the bubble bath storyboards, the DEPTH of what it meant for Darius to intervene in Hunter's kidnapping attempt so now all the responsibility falls onto him when HE DIDN'T NEED TO DO THAT HE DIDN'T EVEN LIKE HUNTER AND IT PUT HIM IN RISK INTERVENING, "I can wear this proudly now...right?" "Can you?", his extra abomination lounge chair while he gingerly kept messing with the EE, "You're gonna need to be a little more clever than that" *12 seconds later the ship crashed and is on fire all because he was too much of a difficult bitch to Tell These Actual Children he wasn't really kidnapping them*, "Do you have any idea what I'm capable of?!", "I'm impressed! I had you all wrong!", the first head pat, the scroll, " But you could still use a sewing lesson." Like. I still can't believe the pay off of that moment. I immediately fell in love with the dynamic between Hunter & Darius at the end of that episode and for the rest of the show they were never able to connect on screen again it was always a "just missed each other" thing, until FINALLY in the finale Darius ruffles Hunter's hair and then asks him about his dumb wolf shirt and 4yrs later he's Hunter's dad. I was fighting for my life for Dadrius since HM (I was more Uncle Darius after ASIAS until HM) and it PAID OFF LIKE!!!! 😭🤌
Anyway can't forget to praise the Huntlow there too, with the parallel to Willow's parents the gold rimmed glasses the "half a witch" parallels and of course, Hunter's first blush towards Willow on the bi flag colored sky. The Lumity subplot was also really funny, especially in hindsight considering Boscha's issues in FTF haha. A 10/10 episode overall
8. Favorite other character?
Ok so since this one explicitly excludes hexsquad, hagsquad, and palisman, I think I have to choose Hooty. Hooty was one of my favorite characters back in S2A, he's so hilarious and I love his relationship with Lilith so so much, they're so much like Darius & Eber to me haha!
16. Favorite Raeda moment (if you ship it)?
OK SO my pal Lolly really articulated this scene from KT perfectly here
BUT I also have to talk about the fight against Darius & Eber in Eda's Requiem because that scene of them back to back playing Their Song while Eda's curse mutated the magic around them and was going to KILL THEM rewrote my brain chemistry. LOOK AT THIS. LOOK AT THEM.
Just the palpable longing of them both looking over their shoulders at each other as they played. The animation, the music, the symbolism of it being Their Song, the shared history, the way they were willing to die together for the cause of fighting Belos and the subsequent hindsight reveal of how Fucking Stupid it would've been if they did --between King taking Eda's last name & officially becoming her son, Darius & Eber were also rebels trying to save Raine, ultimately all 3 of Raine Darius & Eber would've just been replaced in time for the DOU, like on every single level this plan was STUPID but the longing gay angst these two have for each other almost made them do it anyway.
Raine's voice cracking at the "You have kids?!" was as funny as it was heartbreaking, because it was just another reminder of how much of their lives they've been apart and how Eda finally let others in but Raine wasn't there for it nor was she ever able to do so for them before. Eda's sputtering about "Well they're not mine mine" like she WANTS THEM TO BE but she can't admit it and is still being closed off and Raine quoting Eda in reference to the scene they already quoted earlier in the episode, all cultivating in Raine letting go of Eda's hand -- like they let go of their relationship years ago -- all to save her ;___; idk pal this episode fucked me up so much when it aired and my partner still teases me when I rewatch it like "you're watching the gay episode again huh"
Anyway yeah. I have a lot of love for this show haha
#asks#answered#sorry to go insane rambling and not using many paragraph breaks but my brain is fried lol

so bc im posting my toh oc's story on ao3 i havent rly described eralynne eira all that much, and corva (and thus the extinct harbinger ravens). and the rest of their fam
and bc i cant draw worth shit all ive done is make picrews fdsjgjs
anyways, harbinger ravens are about 2x the size of a normal raven, with solid violet/purple eyes. their feathers look like they were dipped and purified in pure oil. in certain lights the feathers just look pitch black, but in other lightings you could probably see every color imaginable if they move. Harbinger Ravens, bc they had oracle magic of their own, had a unique ability of passing knowledge onto those they deemed worthy, thus the myth that they were the ones who taught the first inhabitants of the Boiling Isles Oracle magic. when they do so, there would be a purple sheen over your eyes, which would go away once the passing-of-knowledge was done.
Corva, the Harbane family Harbinger Raven Palisman, is about the size of an average american crow, but all other Harbinger Raven attributes is the same for her. especially the oracle magic part. the other special, unique thing about her is that she can speak to anyone, not just her owner (similar to Bat Queen, considering she was a palisman at one point). most of the time Corva chooses not to, and does so only to either a) freak people out bc it's funny, or b) people she genuinely likes. she's mostly known to use her oracle magic to pass on knowledge to eira as needed, and, in the case of eira's 3x-great-grandfather, to track people down. Corva's a sassy lil shit but incredibly wise and intensely intelligent. another fun fact: she likes to Bite >;3
eira and their older brother mikolas both have naturally light-blue hair, inherited from their father, who's hair has gone darker with age, and inherited the color from his mother, eira's grandmother (who's hair is now ashy gray). eira's grandfather and great-grandfather, however, has black hair. eira's mother has dark brown hair. eira's little sister gisela inherited the dark brown hair.
eira, an odd-case with the family, has gray eyes, as does their mother and sister. their grandmother has brown. the rest of the family (mikolas, their father, grandfather, and great-grandfather) have hazel/golden eyes, which was typically a strong trait within the Harbane family.
at the present moment in the fic, eralynne's eira's hair, at age 10-12, is long, about chest-length, and has some wave to it. mikolas typically kept his hair short and slicked back (in order to make him seem more "proper" blegh). their father is similar, and has a five-o-clock shadow almost all the time gross. havent rly fleshed out what exactly eira's grandparents look like bc they can suckit lmfao. their great-grandfather had permanent smile lines, having typically been a joyous man. his hair was kept incredibly short in order to be able to take care of it more easily, and he has a bit of a hunched back from old age. eira's mother usually kept her hair in a tight bun or ponytail, almost never wearing it down. gisela, as she got older, kept her hair about the same length as 10-12-yr-old eira's, just past her shoulder.
when eira left their family (13/14), they cut their hair short, their waves being more prominent, with loose bangs and just past their ears. they kept it short until they were almost 18, when they started to grow it back out. by the time theyre 29 (end of TOH timeline, pre-WAD-timeskip), their hair was just barely down to their waist, but they typically keep it up, whether it braided buns, regular buns, or just a ponytail.
anyway that took some time out of my day to type out enjoy shfhsg

"Huh."
"Interesting. I don't know if that has anything to do with bile sacs, but it's interesting either way."
He grimaced at the mention of religious propaganda - that was a concept he was well aware of, and used to carry out himself - but his expression turned more disturbed as she went on. "What in the titan's name . . . People believed that?"
He relaxed a little as she spoke of the book series. "Well, that's good. At least there's something. I'm sick and tired of the whole witches and demons are bad concept. They're not, they're just . . . people. Living their lives and helping others and-" He stopped, cutting himself off before he could get caught on a rant. "Sorry."
"I'd offer to help you figure things out, but the way our magic works might be too different for that. Though I guess there's no harm in trying, especially if you're worried about asking the monsters." He paused. ". . . Though my magic does come purely from a palisman, rather than myself." And as he said that, the shaft of his staff disappeared, the colorful praying mantis on top animating and flying onto his shoulder. It chirped at the human in greeting.
He chuckled, taking his gloves off and moving to put the things he'd already taken out from the medical kit away. "Probably. I had people complimenting me on it. It was strange. But it's one of the few times I can go out without hiding and not get strange looks from it."
He followed her gaze. "I'll go visit, see if I can find anything there that might help, or anyone that'd be interested. Thank you."
"Of course," he said with a smile. "I learned all this for a reason. I wasn't going to just leave you like that when I could help. Just be careful with that shoulder for the next few days and you should be fine."
Ah! Right! Introductions. That was a thing people did. "Valor. Firemantle," he replied, shaking her hand. "It's nice to meet you." He chuckled. "Especially as another magic user." He was going to have a lot to tell Flicker about when he got home.
“To my understanding, yeah,” Alex confirmed. “Though I don't know the specifics, for obvious reasons.”
A thoughtful frown crossed Alex's face as she mulled over what was being said. “Huh. I mean, I know there used to be some old-time believes in medicine about the balance of the 'humors' in the body, and I think bile was supposed to be… well, technically two of those, if I remember correctly. Yellow bile and black bile. But it didn't really have anything to do with magic.”
Alex let out a soft huff of a laugh, shaking her head. “More religious propaganda, I think. Witches were often depicted as women who never married and were too 'old and ugly' for anyone to ever want to. And that this was the reason they turned to witchcraft, to fill some kind of void in their lives by causing suffering to to others because they didn't chain themselves to a 'good proper man' and pop out a half-dozen babies or something.”
She visibly rolled her eyes. “Unfortunately, even as society progressed past such kinds of beliefs as a whole, the archetypal concept of a witch didn't really change much. That's why there's so many different words for magic users, because each one tends to have a different connotation.”
“Of course,” She continued, “It's not always across the board. One of my favorite book series had witches that were good, and it was usually the wizards who were the bad guys, because they stole their magic from others, or something along those lines. But that series also liked to subvert a lot of the typical fantasy tropes.”
Alex sighed, giving a slight shrug. “I don't actually know a lot about magic, beyond what I've sussed out for myself through practice. I'm more or less self-taught. I know I can do a few different things, but doing stuff with water comes quickest and easiest for me. No sigils or chanting or wands or anything involved. Just focus of will and release of magic, more or less.”
That did prompt a bit of a laugh from Alex. “I could see that, and yeah. If you were wearing a costume, they probably thought the scars were fake but like… very well done. There are professional make-up artists who have done some pretty impressive fake scars for things like movies and whatnot, and even non-professionals who are really passionate about it can learn to do the same kinds of tricks. Halloween is one of the big times of the year where you'll see a lot of people flaunt their skills with that.”
Frowning, Alex shook her head. “I wouldn't know anything about portals insofar as magic goes, but I'm hardly an expert. Maybe there is a Monster in town who could help you.” She turned her head, gesturing down the road the way she'd come from. “About a mile down this road that way is Ebott Valley. It's where the Monsters settled down for the most part, once they escaped the Underground. You'd have your best luck there.”
Once the stranger pulled away, Alex nodded, giving the shoulder an experimental flex. She winced a little at the residual soreness, but otherwise, it felt mostly back to normal. “Good, I think. Definitely not bleeding anymore. I can't thank you enough for this. I wasn't looking forward to having to either walk a mile back to town, or a mile to where I live, all while trying to cover a bleeding shoulder.”
A brief pause, before she gave a sheepish half smile. “I'm sorry. I probably should have introduced myself.” She paused, before summoning a globe of water to wash the blood off her hands, then offering a shake. “I go by Alex. Thanks again for your help…?” Her voice trailed off, ending in a questioning tone.

Professor Caduceia and Snakely
Checked out the storyboard for the deleted s1 episode "Homesick"
You can read it here : https://t.co/WpZJFWbR48
I just loved these cut villains, one whose design def seemed like it was given to raine when they got cut. (I wonder if the color palette was similar, but we don't have a reference to that so idk)
Thoughts on the cut episode below:
An episode where king and owlbert of all characters bond is kinda neat, especially since it provides owlbert himself a bit more character here.
The opening is def far different from any of the final ones we ever see in the series, in fact it feels like it should be taking place during the episode but it can't be given we see hooty from being sick to not being sick in pretty chronological order?
A focus on the healing coven was nice to see, especially since we never got that in the show itself, and get some idea of their powerset and what they do magic wise.
So Manny was an ambulance driver, and Camila was a nurse in this. People originally assumed camila was a nurse when the show started, and it makes me wonder if that was changed between seasons at some point cause clearly the crew decided to change her profession and it's unclear why.
you can use your palisman as a communicator? and an umbrella? I do think it's so weird that even at the very end of the show, they establish brand new rules for palisman. Like them being able to shapeshift into objects is straight up not explained and just sorta....happens in the show, like i feel like hunter would have no issue hiding flap if this is a thing. (It also kinda makes stringbean's ability slightly less unique) Like this is displayed in these boards, but they kept it even in the show itself, and i think palisman might need a proper rulebook.
On that same note, owlbert uses magic in this board, like we kinda knew palisman could do some magic without a witch, but this is the only time we've seen one use it to fight another witch that wasn't the batqueen. Like owlbert tries to full on blast people in this. I don't know if removing this episode makes this ability less canon in the world itself since they still can do magic in the show, it's just worth noting that palisman, according to this board, CAN fight back, even if they're not incredibly strong it seems. Certainly the kinda thing that makes you think on other episodes tbh.
This episode also brings up the idea that eda actually CAN and DOES bring human food to the BI, which never happens in the show, in fact luz implies she gets to eat very little options there, so this idea seems no longer canon?
The demon hunters at one point don't even seem to recognize owlbert as a palisman, which does not entirely make sense given they seem to be mostly common to the townsfolk, so I'm kinda glad for that plot hole being gone.
Caduceia makes it out like the emperor's coven forced her to teach? and she thought handing over a house demon to belos would get her out of teaching as if it were some kinda punishment or job she was made to do? I have questions
side note, house demons are called rare in this, like they're not common, not sure if this still applies in the final show, but yeah.
there's some very sweet moments in this with luz and eda especially, but also some funny moments, and some jokes that land a little less....i don't think we needed Caduceia to be kissing her snake like that from that angle, even if it was meant to be a little uncomfortable.
one reason i think this episode did get cut? we got a glyph in this
a healing glyph, which has some ties to water based on it's symbol
i'm guessing since they kept the main glyphs element based, a healing glyph would of stuck out and been a bit weird. Like it just heals people, it doesn't produce water despite looking close to the alchemy symbol for water, and well....we already got ice so this would be redundent.
so yeah, this episode introduced a new glyph that saved them in the end so it would of come back in future episodes, but to keep it simple that would mean cutting the entire episode as a whole just to keep the four.
Since they enjoyed Caduceia's design so much, they must've repurposed it for raine somewhere down the line.
very fun insight into a scrapped episode.

i get the eda/lilith/raine adopting hunter aus. in fact i love reading them and consuming content about them because they’re always just the right brand of fluff born out of angst. but do i think it would realistically happen? nope
now i’m not saying this because of hunters age. hunter being 16 does not mean that he shouldn’t get some sort of parent figure looking out for him and providing shelter just because he’s almost an adult. i just think theres practically no universe where hunter would willingly stay in that environment
healing from the extent of emotional (and more than likely physical) abuse hunter has gone through is not easy. and it’s especially not as easy as ‘just hanging around a healthy parental figure for a few months and i’m perfectly good now’ easy
hunters entire mindset is fucked up. he’s used to social exchanges, not interactions. being in a remotely healthy environment would feel to him as if he were in a minefield. he doesn’t understand the unspoken rules. he’s terrified of stepping out of like because he a) doesn’t know what stepping out of line looks like and b) doesn’t know the punishments for doing so. and he will not trust them if they say they want nothing from him. he will not be tricked into believing them when they say being luz’s friend is his ‘punishment’ or ‘payment’. he’s smart. he’s going to see the ‘traps’ they’re trying to lay and avoid them while baring his teeth. because trusting people means pain. no exceptions
even if he started to believe that they didn’t want anything from him, he’s still gonna be uncomfortable. and he’d probably end up trying to make them break their calm. he’d scream, he’d yell, he’d break things and run away. he’d purposely hit them where it hurts emotionally waiting for them to break. because nothing good lasts and if he has to create the chaos for them to finally show their true colors he will. and even if they all kept calm, he’d only be put more on edge because in his mind the longer it takes the worse the outburst is. and the truth is that no outburst would be bad enough for hunter to consider it them showing their true colors. meaning he’d only grow tenser as days passed and he continued to act out
also hunter is just not reliant on others. he’s not going to accept help. he’s not going to search out help. he will deal with it by himself and with no one else. he has a first aid kit in his room. you’d think the golden guard would get top of the art medical treatment, not a 16 yr olds medical expertise. hunter knows relying on people is a liability. it’s costly. and it can very well be deadly. you think he could easily adjust to sleeping in the same house as strangers or former enemies and rely on them to not kill him? or trap him or ransom him or interrogate him or whatever? you think he’d rely on them for food? in his own coven he had enemies. he can’t rely or trust those around him, even if it seems like they’re on the same side
realistically, even if he ended up with a parental figure directly after leaving the coven, i 100% think he would run the first solid chance he got. hunters mind is extremely fucked, as it tends to be when you’ve been in an extremely abusive situation for years or possibly an entire life. he needs to go off on his own/with his palisman. he has been bound by strings to the emperor for years. the last thing he needs is a new situation with strings that only he can see
living on his own, as fucked as it sounds, is proabbly the best option for hunter. he would be setting his schedule. there is only himself to please. he sets the rules. he provides his food and shelter and knows that it’s not rigged against him
also he would definitely have rascal with him. although rascal tries to make hunter become friends with the owl house gang, they ultimately go with hunter when it comes down to it. and as hunter and rascal become closer, and hunter shares his feelings about his situation, i highly doubt rascal would try to force him into a situation where he feels unsafe and unwelcome
tldr: moral of the story, no matter how nice it would be to see hunter getting tlc from a parental figure, in his abused mind the only way to feel safe and in control is for him to live on his own with rascal by his side
#this is so long#i literally cannot comprehend whether this makes sense or not so here ya go#the thing about abused kids is when they get into a healthy situation they feel like they have to break it to feel comfortable#and while hunter could learn to be friends with the owl house gang moving in with them is several steps too far for his mind#i do think he’d be able to live on his own for a few years and then slowly warm up and maybe room with one of them#but most of the time the aftermath is worse than the abuse#and the right solutions don’t always seem the most safe to outsiders#idk j pls don’t hate me for this okay thanksssss#toh hunter#hunter toh#toh#the owl house#eda clawthorne#raine whispers#lilith clawthorne#toh season 2#emperor belos#toh belos#belos toh#yes belos is tagged because ✨abuser✨

Here's a bunch of stuff about the show Dana said in the AMA
Eda is in her mid to late 40s and same with lilith except 2 years older, Gus is 12, and Willow is 14.
Creepy Luz was actually a joke response to the line "maybe I'll meet a hot yet vulnerable upperclassman" in the first day, but she likes the evil doppelganger theory and won't confirm nor deny whether that exists.
She likes to think Boscha and Amity's mothers have a rivalry from childhood and are still trying to one up one another with their kid's accomplishments.
Once Lilith joined the Emperor's Coven she dyed her hair to look more intimidating.
Lilith and Amity aren't that close and Amity lost a lot of respect for Lilith after what happened in Covention.
We'll maybe see more of Viney, Jerbo, and Barcus. :D
She said Ed and Em's hair is green like their mom's while Amity's hair is naturally brown like her dad's and that Mrs. Blight likes her kids to be....color coordinated.
Amity is intended to be a lesbian and Luz is bi.
The demon on Principal Bump is named Frewin and has a purpose and that's all she'll say for now.
When asked what happened to King's horn she replied with "All will be revealed eventually. " (im SCARED)
She hopes season 2 will make us cry,,,,
There's more to the Blight parents than we think and that could be either good or bad for the protagonists.
Mr. Blight is interesting and she especially has fun writing him.
When asked if we get to see Luz celebrate her quinceanera she said it depends on if we get a season three.
In the boiling isles gems are common in outfits as necklaces, and at first Eda's didn't have any significance and was just a fashion choice, but in The Intruder they decided to use it to indicate when her curse was taking over.
Ed and Em are salty about getting stood up but they'll get over it and have a lot of distractions in season 2.
There's not ever gonna be a musical episode.
She's got no idea if we can expect official merch but thinks fan merch if cooler than what disney makes anyway.
If there's enough demand we might get owl house books/comics.
We'll see more sibling moments with Eda and Lilith.
Eda has seen Vegas before and wasn't impressed.
Other than the characters we've yet to see Eda is one of Dana's favorite characters to write.
We all can thank Dana for the great line that is "Talk to the glyph, witch!"
The application of glyphs and all their uses will be explored in season 2.
Lilith's palisman is alive like Owlbert.
A palisman is our world's equivalent of a "witch's familiar".
Witches will typically carve their palisman from a special type of wood in their teens at school or with parental supervision.
A palisman uses their own source of power outside of a witch's bile sac.
When a witch joins a coven they're physically unable to perform any kind of magic outside of that specialty, but more generic spells like levitation for small objects is doable but with difficulty.
"Witch" is a gender-neutral term in the Boiling Isles.
Wizards do exist but it's more of a title you call yourself if you like.
There's some unused lines that allude to "warlock" being akin to "edgelord" in the demon realm. (DJRJFKDSBFK)
If Eda's curse gets healed her hair won't turn back to its original color.
Generally witches join covens once they graduate school, and if they're really talented they can leave school and join a coven early.
Willow works out every morning.
Everything people responded to from season 1, especially the last few episodes, there'll more of in season 2.
It'll be revealed in season 2 why king wears a collar.
When Eda ran out of magic, her bike sac was like an organ that stopped producing the chemicals she needs to do magic on her own. It's still there but useless now.
Edit: Forgot somethin' important! Dana knows about Lego Eda.
ALRIGHT I think that was most of it fbfjfbd
#the owl house#toh#willow park#luz noceda#agustus porter#amity blight#emira blight#edric blight#edric and emira#eda clawthorne#eda the owl lady#toh eda#toh luz#toh amity#lilith clawthorne#toh lilith#that was a LOT of typing bdjfmdb#cant believe i FORGOT that

Mechanics of Artificial Magic - My Thoughts
From the moment we saw Emperor Belos first use magic in “Young Blood, Old Souls,” it was apparent that his spellcasting was far different from the average witch. On one hand, his magic was blood red, a color unlike any others in the series. For another, he does not utilize spell circles as taught on the Isles. And finally, his personal staff appeared mechanical rather than carved of wood, and lacked a palisman. It was only in the season two episode “Hunting Palismen” that we get a hint of its true nature: Hunter refers to it as “artificial” magic.
What could this mean?
The word “artificial” means made or produced by human beings rather than occurring naturally, especially as a copy of something natural. Given revelations in the late second season, the definition “made by humans” seems remarkably fitting. But more to the point, it is magic that comes from an unnatural source. The series has made numerous references to magic of the setting originating from the Boiling Isles themselves, or from the Titan the Isles originated from.
So, where does artificial magic come from?
Magic of witches and bipedal demons is derived from the sac of magic bile attached to their hearts, an organ humans lack. Hunter, the only other character seen using artificial magic, also lacks a natural link to the Titan’s power. Hunter also implies that artificial magic operates very differently from “real” magic in “Eclipse Lake.” This, to me, is a hint at artificial magic’s origin: rather than come from within, it comes from without.
It is implied by the Collector that he provided Philip with the secrets of artificial magic that allowed him to become more powerful than any natural-born witch, or at least taught him enough for him to apply it himself. Another idea is that it comes from the essence of the palismen that Belos consumed over the centuries … but that does not explain Hunter’s power, nor Luz’s use of his artificial staff in “Hunting Palismen.”
The most telling detail to me is the “wing” on both Belos and Hunter’s staffs. While one might think they are decorative, I have another idea. Perhaps the wings act as an antennae, much like a radio receiver. In “Young Blood, Old Souls,” King describes the Titan’s magic as being “so potent” that it altered all life on the Isles to be able to wield it, which implies some kind of radiation aspect. In this case, we’re referring to the strict radiation definition of physics: “the emission or transmission of energy in the form of waves or particles through space or through a material medium.”
It is possible that an artificial staff acts as a direct transceiver for this ambient magic, which is then focused much like real magic via thought and willpower. Luz’s use of Hunter’s staff, even in a rudimentary way, also implies that it is a straightforward process. The “man made” aspect rather than the natural use of a bile sac would certainly fit the definition.
A final thought of mine is the “focus gem” atop artificial staffs — my own term rather than an official one. When an artificial staff is used, this part in particular shimmers with magic and acts as an origin point for the spells. Given the fact that grimwalkers require a galdorstone at their core and Hunter implies in “Hollow Mind” that the same staff has been passed down from Golden Guard to Golden Guard when he mentions he “inherited” it, it is entirely possible that these focus gems are actually comprised of galdorstones. Where Belos acquired these stones is a mystery.
Thanks for reading! More to come …!

There is so much pointing to Hunter being a Grimwalker I think It would feel out of nowhere for him not to be.
I'm gonna talk about it
-you wanna say that Flapjack choosing him and being the brothers older palisman is just coincidence
-The red eyes he has is just a coincidence (especially because we have not seen on other witch like resident with that color of eyes)
-He can't do magic, even though it was said he came from a line of witches without magic (and you are saying that they were never mentioned before?)
-It clearly on the book shows growth of a child, why dedicate so much drawings to one ingredient if it wasn't the product (It depicts red eyes and a child unlike the other ingredients which only contain one small drawing)
-Hunter is oh so conveniently named Hunter, which is a very clever way of showing he hunts Palisman. Which would be a funny coincidence considering if he had parents it would be one name out thousands.
-He has the same lick of hair Philip had (which I can elaborate on soon)
-Ortet means clone, but it says BONE of ortet, Belos doesn't give a damn about many people. Belos could just yank one of Hunters bones if that was the case. (Ortet theory)
----
Besides that the only other thing I think could work is if Hunter is actually Philip and The brother is actually Belos. Even though this is less likely it could still work due to inaccuracies with who FlapJack belonged to and how Hunters hair seems like a mix of Philip and The brothers.
