So THAAAAT why they were dead. Honestly completely forgot the part after happened, don't think I ever processed that was the reason they were dead. If I did, I forgot. My brains gorilla glued to the rainbow town still.
I'm rewatching The Steve Saga because I remember that I never finished it-
BUT WHAT IS WITH THESE SOUL CRUSHING EPISODES?!?!
Like when origin steve was introduced Sabre and galaxy went to go defeat yeah THEY LOST GOT TRAPPED IN A BUBBLE OUTSIDE OF THE TIMELINE.
Sabre ends up in the spirity world and finds rainbow steve (I WAS CEUSHED DEAD THAT EPISODE LITERALLY HARMED ME. )
AND LIKE WHEN RAINBOW WAS LIKE "you know I can't leave here"
"How did you know I was gonna try and bring you out?-"
"Sabre.. how long have we been friends for"
MY HEART SHATTERED. IM SOBBING
AND NOW SABRE LEAVES ONLY TO FIGURE OUT HE WAS GONE FOR GENERATIONS.
He saw the purple steve in the spirit world and he realized he missed out on his adventure BECAUSE HE WAS AT THE END OF HIS JOURNEY. IM SOBBING.
Imagine going back to a world you thought would stay the same only to realize that the bad guy won and and and the world IS GENERATIONS AHEAD OF WHERE YOU LEFT IT.
this thing is CRUSHING ME

honestly, the most devastating news you could hear about in 2007 while playing roblox was learning that Scatman John passed away in 1999. like, finding that out was the roblox child's equivalent to 9/11.
#i remember discovering scatman through like. mario 64 and roblox bloopers. and also through a lot of old roblox levels#and like listening to his stuff and being like wow this guys fucking cool#only to find a remix of one of his songs that had the day he passed away on the still image of the video#i remember being like VERY saddened because i was like ''no.... no it was too soon...''#as if me as a 9 year old kid could've done anything to stop it#it is genuinely sad to see some of the people i liked as a kid having passed away via lung cancer#LIKE NOT TO BE REAL ON THIS FUCKING POST BUT. God man#like it was specifically actors i loved watching as a kid. and learning oh. the bastard cigarette did it again.#growing up i watched a lot of Lucille Ball shows and Jim Varney commercials#Jim Varney especially was another moment for me as a kid that was like. incredibly devastating#like i mainly knew him purely for his Ernest commercials. like i didn't even know he had movies for most of my time watching him as a kid#like we had a VHS tape of his commercials (that's uploaded to youtube) that i was so fucking obsessed with as a kid#like i would constantly play that VHS tape on any television in the house that i could#when we moved i think i watched it a few more times until it eventually ended up in the basement#and immediately i was saddened to find the VHS tape once more#this time found beneath the stairs and covered in a green goop (or mold-like substance)#and from then on id constantly beg my mother to go on Ebay and find Ernest's Greatest Hits Volume 1#later learned that it was uploaded to YouTube and my mother was like ''why do you want a VHS tape if it's on youtube''#which is like an absolutely fair point but. idk owning a physical copy was a completely different experience#sorry this post was supposed to be about the roblox child's personal 9/11.#anyway did you guys know that Niel Cicierega was on a youtube series discussing and rating Ernest movies#i just thought that was neat

I'm rewatching Trollhunters in the background right now, and the disfunctional mother son relationship between Jim and his mom is making me crazy.
Like, he's taking care of the household and his mother for years as a teenager and before probably. She is sometimes giving half hearted comments about him not having to do so much, but very obviously she's not gonna make him stop do all the cooking and cleaning. Y'know. Both because they've been living like this for years, and because it's obviously also very comfortable to have someone do all the house work.
Then Strickler comes into the picture, and if we ignore the whole Troll and changeling side of the story, Barabara gets very offended cause Jim doesn't want her to meet him privately. Again, ignoring the whole magic and trolls stuff, STRICKLER IS JIMS TEACHER. If Jim hadn't figured out that Strickler was a changeling he probably wouldn't have a problem with it, but the fact that he does, no matter the reason, should be enough for Barbara to put a stop to the relationship. Her child is clearly uncomfortable with her seeing/dating that guy, for whatever reason, and even clearly vocalized it. But she doesn't care about, or rather, she tells Jim that she "wouldn't expect something like that" from him. Obviously not, cause she may see him like her child/teenager he is, BUT DOESN'T TREAT HIM LIKE ONE.
And then Jim, unknowingly to Barbara, becomes the Trollhunter, and his behavior changes. He's suddenly doing reckless stuff, sneaking out, getting bruises, landing in detention and even at the police station, barely avoiding a police report. What does she do? Asking him what's going on? If everything's alright at school? If he has any other problems? Maybe trying to lower his workload around the house, which again, he's doing most of that as a teenager and longer probably.
Nah. She doesn't do anything until he lands in the hospital. Except for again, dismissing him rather negatively at the one topic he's openly expressing any negative opinions about (Strickler). And after he lands in the hospital she now starts not asking questions, but demanding answers. Demanding answers from a teenager in a difficult situation who is also now acting much more like a teenager than he ever did before, from her point of view at least. Except she obviously doesn't know how to deal with a teenager, cause she has never had to raise or live with a teenager. She instead lived with a child pretending to be an adult for years, that was partly much more of an adult than she was, who did way to much work even before Jim became the Trollhunter. So she throws punishments at him and grounds him, but does he listen?
No. Cause why should he? Not only is he dealing with things much more important than being grounded, yknow, saving the world, he's trying to protect her from the sheer knowledge of the supernatural and physically protecting her from getting harmed. And again, for the majority of the time since his dad left he pretended to be an adult. He was and is the main adult in the household, dealing with important things she doesn't even know about.
The only one's treating Jim like a teenager are teachers, other children and Blinky and Aaargh sort of when they're not in the middle of Troll business. Strickler, in the first episodes where Jim doesn't know about his true identity, is much more of a parental figure to Jim (also after his redemption later on tbh) than his mother.
In summary: Barbara is treating her son like an adult, almost like a partner, instead of a child/teenager. And when that isn't possible anymore she doesn't know how to properly treat him. She also doesn't really care that her son is uncomfortable with her being around Strickler, or Strickler in general. And it takes Blinky telling her (when Jim is 16) that Jim might be affected by his father leaving when he was five years old.
Jim meanwhile is treating his mother more like a child/teenager instead of the adult and MOTHER that she is. Seeing her as his responsibility. Cooking for her. Cleaning for her. Telling her to rest and take breaks.
They obviously love each other other. And their relationship might not be toxic, but it's very much disfunctional. In a way that is mostly negative for Jim.

hate hate haaaate marius and in the books it's infinitely more fucked up that he turns armand when he does (aged 17) and then the cunt "dies" so armand never really gets the chance to grow up or grow out of what marius asked of him before he's met with immeasurable grief BUT one thing that's really interesting about the show timeline is that there's an additional ten years before marius turns armand and there's SO MUCH that could happen in those ten years in terms of armand deciding whether or not he wants to stay with marius (and, then, why he does choose to stay) and actually having the wherewithal to make that decision.

y'all i gotta be honest for a sec, the "atla wouldnt change much if aang wasnt there, in fact it might be better" and "the atla finale wouldnt change much if aang wasnt there to fight ozai" debates is the funniest thing ive seen come out of this fandom
#'this show wouldnt change much if the main character wasnt there' hmm me thinks otherwise!#do people just. not realize that the gaangs arcs ESPECIALLY zukos and kataras would not have happened if aang was taken out of the picture?#ppl praise zukos redemption arc sm and rightfully so but aang is such a HUGE factor in zukos arc!#hell you could argue that it kickstarted because of aang#'if we knew each other back then do you think we could have been friends too?' the question that forever changed zukos life#without aang katara would still be stuck in the south pole with sokka and she wouldve never gotten the training she needed#toph wouldve never left if aang wasnt in the picture#hell you could argue the same with suki shed still be stuck on the island#tbh without aang theyd all be dead or at least in serious trouble by the end of the series#and the finale argument... cmon now#did people forget the scene of iroh explaining to zuko (AND THE AUDIENCE) that aang HAS to be the one to fight ozai#ONLY aang could defeat ozai#the strongest firebender in the series#without aang they all wouldve been cooked#by this point both zuko and sokka were seriously injured and katara and the rest were absolutely exhausted from fighting their own battles#ozai is only one guy yeah but again he is the strongest firebender in the whole series#even iroh was like 'nah theres no way in hell i could beat him'#ozai was in the air spinning around like a beyblade shooting fire from all parts of his body destroying everything in sight LMAOOO#delete later#probably

reading animorphs sequentially instead of in whatever random order you can get your hands on them is such a trip because you can see these kids getting progressively better at war and worse at being happy, you can see how traumatic events from one book echo into the next ones but never quite get dealt with because these kids have no real way to take care of their mental health, you can see their relationships deepening but simultaneously gaining friction and faultlines as they learn just how far they'd go for each other but also how far they'd go in general...
obviously this series was meant to be episodic in nature, and i actually think that might be the better way to first encounter it, but the arc of the series in publication order is extremely well-crafted

can you elaborate on your feelings on vassago?
this blogs becoming what i use to kill time while i wait for my laundry to finish hi. first thing i did today was spill my entire water bottle on my bed. i think vassago is, at best, introduced too early, and at worst, shouldn't exist.
best case is that i think they gave him a poor introduction with functionally no personality outside of 'are you winning son' 'OMG STOLAS!' i genuinely don't get what people like about him. he doesn't do or say anything substantial. it's bc he's yaoi bait and that's it
worst case i think he's just a bad character for the plot. it seems like this dude has some history with stolas (if we ignore that stolas awkwardly does not acknowledge the weird fan behaviour whatsoever lmfaoooo) when stolas was like
established to be living this miserable lonely friendless life. no one likes stolas and he's not respected by his peers. he seems to have pretty bad people skills, and that's being generous. the one real light he has in his life aside from his affair partner (an affair of which should be motivated by that loneliness), allegedly his daughter
and fucking guy we've never heard of until now hiii vassago hi!!! i'll eat my words if i'm wrong but i can't really fathom how stolas having 1 guy who's been in his corner this whole time aids in his narrative, like, at all.
utterly baffling introduction. it's awkward and bizarre. it acts like we should already know who this guy is, almost. if he's going to be important later, fine, but he should've been introduced later then. mastermind was basically nothing. it's barely an introduction at all. equivalent of like, someone asking me to introduce myself, and all i say for 5 minutes is I UFUCKING LOVE THE COLOUR YELLOW, like ok. what else man

Wildcards!
Session 1: Shifting shrinks you, jumping grows you
Session 2: Constant Hunger III. You can eat everything, but food restores no hunger (instead increasing the hunger potion effect), and each item gives a different effect. It changed twice more during the session.
Session 3: Immortal snails. Everyone has an immortal snail that chases them down, it can mine, fly, teleport, and it speeds up when further away. Nothing can stop it. (It can also rebound TNT, and it drowns the player if it is drowning itself)
Session 4: Time starts moving extremely slowly then speeds up over the session to being extremely fast.
Session 5: Robots parachute in from the sky to a random player to give them a life series related trivia question. Answering the question right rewards them positive potion effects, weapons, useful items, etc. Answering them wrong results in consequences like making their voice not understandable, the snail returns, they get negative potion effects, etc.
Session 6: All mobs get killed and replaced with a random mob every so often. An increasing amount of passive mobs spawn before as well to increase the overall effect. The mobs can be anything from cows/sheep/pigs all the way to a warden. Evokers no longer drop totems of undying, but wardens do.
Session 7: Everyone has their own/unique superpower that can be activated/deactivated with a hotkey
Deaths From The Wildcards
Session 1: 1 Death (Out of 2)
Session 2: 6 Deaths + 1 Assist (Out of 11)
Session 3: 27 deaths (Out of 37)
Session 4: 0 Deaths (Out of 10)
Session 5: 5 Deaths (Out of 20)
Session 6: 4 Deaths (Out of 12)
Session 7: 11 Deaths (Out of 17) (and an additional 36 for the zombies)

I don’t care about HWS canon in the slightest but I will never stop thinking about the one comic from 2006 where Kiku tries to murder Ivan with a harpoon, falls through his ceiling à la “Hey Ron, Hey Billy” meme, and then tries to feed him sweets filled with glass. Alfred wishes he had this level of vitriol. Bros in your walls.

I don’t understand why Kishimoto never added Kakashi having thoughts about Gai when he died in the pain assault. It’s like he doesn’t want his relationship with Gai to have depth but then adds all these interactions and feelings that show how much he means to Kakashi.
He thinks of his dead friends and family, he thinks of Konoha 11, but he doesn’t think about his longest and biggest support? Not even a passing thought?
Might Gai is Kakashi’s best friend and rival, he isn’t a nuisance to him and he doesn’t think he’s less than him. Their relationship has substance and evidence to show how much they care about one another, im sick of Kishimoto and his constant need to diminish it then prop it up and then diminish it again. How can he be so inconsistent with relationships and character writing??

14.00: Holme’s tiny nod when Watson goes to comfort the bereaved and falsely accused widow. They’re not in frame together, so when Watson kneels next to her the shot has deliberately cut away to show Lestrade’s skeptical expression and Holmes’ grave nod, before returning to Watson offering comfort. You have to assume that at this stage Holmes is assessing Watson as a potential work partner, and the shot highlights Holmes taking note of Watson’s first instinct being care and compassion. It also contrasts Holmes' and Watson's empathy to the way Lestrade seems to relish wielding power over the woman.

While I was rewatching the first Zexal episodes, I noticed something interesting: aside from stuttering his name the first time they met, Yuma never referred to Astral by his name until episode 6. He only referred to Astral as “ghost”, “spirit”, or “this guy”, or simply “you” when talking directly to him. At the beginning of episode 5 Yuma is saying to Kotori and Testuo that Astral had repeatedly told him the day before to call him Astral. Furthermore, since Kotori and Tetsuo didn't have any idea that Astral had a name, shows that Yuma had never said his name while they were around.
I don't think that being called like that was a bother to Astral initially, (he wasn't even sure that Astral was his name when he crashed on Earth), but, probably, after knowing the name of the place he was from (and that he had a mission to fulfill), he started to have a more strong sense of himself and wanted Yuma (who was the only person who could see him) to call him by his name (and also wanting Yuma's friends to use his name and not calling him “ghost”).
In this scene, Yuma says Astral's name, but he is just repeating what Astral had said to him.
The first time Yuma calls Astral by name properly and directly to him is during episode 6, after Tokunosuke took control of Leviathan Dragon and Astral's condition worsened. And after that, he calls Astral's name two more times, trying to get him to answer.
Astral, instead, tries to use Yuma's name from the start... with poor results.
But in the next episode, when talking to himself, he refers to Yuma with his correct name (while Yuma calls Astral a ghost or similar even when he was talking to himself).
Astral calls Yuma with his correct name for the first time during episode 3, when he tells Yuma to duel against Mr. Ukyo because he has a Number.
It's kind of ironic that it took more than one episode to make Yuma and Astral say the other's name, seeing how the more the show progresses, the more these two end up screaming each other's name.

How are these two second shots from the mini-series more authentic to the Jango Fett clone template than the entire 2008 show 😭
