More Coherent Thoughts on if I Have to Totally Restart My Shit

So I've been looking around Reddit and what not, and...I'm not hopeful that my account will be restored tbh. Which sucks balls, especially considering I MADE THE BACK-UP and it didn't automatically download. Like...even if they don't wanna put my blog back up, can I have my back-up please? It wasn't saved on Wayback Machine either, so...everything else I've written might just be lost media. Oh well. But anyway, I have ideas.

As many of you know, I take the very professional and big brain method of 'fuck it we ball' when I write. When I wrote Tali/Ronan's stories, I never thought they'd take place in the same world, but honestly I think there's a lot of really fun ideas to be had there. I talked a lot about my world in my main project, and setting those stories there (which I decided like, half way through. oops) has helped me with a lot of other worldbuilding. I'd love to eventually use those characters and setting for almost an Era 2 of my main project, if that makes sense.

If anyone happens to have a copy of my posts/stories, please please send them to me! I'd love to re-upload them! Lessons...have been learned. I didn't have them anywhere else, and I can't find them on any archive.

I've been playing with the idea of restarting Tali's story here, as now I know a lot more lore stuff I want to implement with his dad and his friends, but it'd be a lot different. If I did want to eventually publish something with those guys, I do not own the rights to League of Legends. Crazy, right? But I wanted him to have something just as dorky to bring reader into; I've honestly been thinking maybe marching band, and having reader either be in band with him or she knows him from one of his classes. I'm a slut for STEM/Arts major pairs, so maybe it'd still be something like that? Or reader only knows him from his own programming classes, and doesn't know anything about music. I have a few ideas.

As for Ronan, all of his subplots were super messy, and I have a lot of ideas in general on how to change the start of his story as well as an overarching plot.

If I don't get my blog back, I kind of want to format this blog as if it were an otome game. Like, a certain collection of stories all exist in the same universe, and you can read them simultaneously or all at once. I don't want Taleisin's story to be as dramatic/gorey as Ronan's, but they'd have hints to each other through their connecting links (Callon/Alex). I also have a lot of lore I've planned about their whole family, Ronan's ex-wife, and other things too.

As for my other stories (Rennyn, Eldrin, Cyron) outside of that universe, I'd probably rewrite those too and follow the same otome game style format, only they'd be in a separate timeline.

I also plan on restarting Taleisin's dad's story/Widow's Hellfire since that one I do have saved on a Google Doc. I may reformat it a bit because tbh, I thought since I was posting it on tumblr it needed to have porn right away for anyone to want to read it, and now I'm not sure if that's the case.

So yeah! I'm not letting this bring me down. Rewriting things will suck, but...maybe it's a new opportunity. I'm open to suggestions; I've also played with the idea of Taleisin accidentally getting involved in mafia stuff, but again, keeping it to side stories so his main story isn't too dark.

I'm so glad some of y'all found me again. It really warms my heart seeing familiar faces!! Hopefully I'll get my blog back, but...if not, there's a plan. im being such a cool chill guy abt this rn

Okay so I ended up actually finishing off this page today

So do you remember when I talked about wanting to make Legally Distinct Transformers sometime after watching Transformers One like 2 weeks ago? Well I actually did start trying to make their designs afterwards, but then I ended up losing interest. But then listening to the Transformers Prime theme song on loop got my brain a-thinking about these guys again, so I went back and tried to at least make some of the designs in my head

Right now this is what I have in mind for their designs. The basics are that they have solid eye colors (I just shaded them like CRK to give them some more life), skin that's at least the color of metal, which tends to be grey but can be other colors as seen, and also hair. Maybe hair doesn't make the most sense, especially considering they are still supposed to be made of metal, even if it is living and malleable, but listen. When I was originally internally thinking of designs for these guys, golden guy there specifically had long, wavy, luscious golden locks, and I had to keep that. So they have hair now. Also pointy ears because why not

They also have those square cores in the middle that are the same color as their eyes, which is basically supposed to be like their heart/power source

As mentioned, they are still metal alien things like Transformers, and they still have transforming capabilities. I don't know what specifically they transform into though, at least as some sort of alternate mode. They can just transmute their metal at will into other things, like weapons if they so choose. Also most of their world is also made of living metal, so with some reformatting they can turn anything into a weapon or some other object, including severed limbs

So far, I really don't feel like I've gotten distinct enough with these guys, both in design and concept. Also their designs just aren't really that unique or special in any way, just in general. But I don't know, I don't really know what to do with these guys design wise. I think you people know I never really get too weird with my designs, at least not now. It's pretty much just humans and mostly human looking beings. I know I need to get out of that more but I just don't know how

I also want to give them clothes in some way, but I don't know what to do on that front either. They're all naked right now, but that doesn't really mean anything here since they don't really have private parts. At least not yet anyways. I'm not giving them boobs or anything though. But yeah, they maybe wear clothes, mostly because I don't know how else to make them distinct, but I don't know what kind of clothes to give them

Something I'm realizing is with the Transformers, generally what makes them the most distinct is their head/helmet design, as well as what's around their body that's part of their alternate mode. But since I don't really know what I'm doing with these guys, I don't know how to incorporate that

I don't know, I think I should move on to a different topic, I'm just repeating myself on the design front. I don't know what I'm doing and I am not skilled enough to make these guys anything exceptional, even if my brain wants to do stuff with them

I guess we can talk about character stuff? Though granted, we still only have one character named, that being (tentatively) Howler, whom I'll mention later

I've mentioned this before, but basically as a refresher, Purple and Gold here are fighting a civil war, after their people had an uprising against the previous tyrannical leader

Basically the story I have right now is that the two started out very close, at some point joining against the ruling class to elicit change and revolution for their people. Also, they were in fact, gay and in love. But then during one encounter, likely after saving Purple, Gold gets captured by their enemy and basically left to be tortured and die in some horrible punishment place they have or something. I haven't fleshed out the details of this place yet. But it did lead to him getting horribly mutilated with his eye being ripped out and by the end of it, half of his face being basically gone and ripped apart. I have this very distinct vision of him having this red line (same color as his eye) going all the way from the top of his head to at least his neck. Meanwhile, Purple and their other allies tried to get him back but failed, and they rallied more forces and eventually lead an assault on the ruling class in revolution

This is also where Gold came back, having basically done the impossible of surviving that place he got sent to, and also bringing other survivors from there to basically be the cavalry and the two both working together to defeat their tyrannical leader

But they differed when left to decide what to do after, and how do deal with the ruler, Gold's experiences making him more ruthless, leading him to personally execute their former ruler and have some sort of altercation that left Purple with his arm now gone. His yellow one is a replacement he got sometime after this fight

This event sparked the creation of the two sides of this new civil war, with both disagreeing on how they deal with the rest of the ruling class and the structure of the government going forward. But also, for Purple and Gold, who are either the leaders of the movements or people with high standing in both sides, the conflict is very personal, since they both feel personally betrayed by the other

So yeah, basically Transformers, particularly One

I really need to work on making them more distinct from Transformers, I really do. I know I eventually was able to do that with Ralia, but that was over the course of at least two years, and was when I was in junior high, aka I had a lot less responsibilities, and I actually had creative juices back then as opposed to the constant drought of nowadays. Also my attention span is even lower, and I'll probably forget these guys yet again before I do anything meaningful

But anyways, I guess we talk about the last person here, aka Howler?

To be honest I don't entirely know what her name means. I think in my brain she was originally Sparrow or Raven, but then I wanted to change it, and so my brain thought Nightshade, then Night Howler (like from Zootopia), which then just got shortened to Howler. But it's a name, so I'll take it

Note that Purple and Gold are not the characters' actual names, they're just placeholders because I don't have any for them

Basically Howler's whole deal is that she suspiciously looks like Purple and Gold's love child. She's on Gold's side of the war, and is a younger member who's quick and good with knives. Gold also does treat her nicely, though they never refer to each other by a familial connection, but also Gold isn't evil like Megatron is supposed to be, and he's not horrible to the people who serve under him, unless he just doesn't like them. She is also supposed to be young enough that she was born after the war has started, although very early on in its timeframe

In my brain, because it's also for some reason an actual series someone watches, Howler's relation to the two is supposed to be something people commonly theorize/headcanon, but at least at the beginning of the story, isn't outright stated, and I've left it semi-ambiguous in my mind. But I think I'm going with the idea that yes, she is

Also the specific setup is that Purple isn't aware of their relation and Howler maybe hasn't specifically been told of Purple's relation to her, because Gold was the one that had her and this was not that long after their split, so emotions were kind of running high for him and he didn't feel like doing that out of spite

Also don't ask me how they reproduce. I guess it's sexually based on Howler, but I'm not sure I want to think about the whole process of it. They're made of metal, but it's also supposed to be living metal or some sort of metal-like alien substance, so they have some amount of organic-ness to them. But gender doesn't matter with them, or at the very least their concept of gender is different than ours and lets this be a thing

I'm not sure I have much else to talk about, so I guess I'm done here. I just wanted to talk about these guys I suppose. I like them and I want to do more with them, but I struggle with drawing them, or at least making designs of them that aren't just really boring and uninspired

As a fanfiction writer (I think I'm still a beginner) of the first and original TFES fanfiction (who hasn't finished Season 1), I watched Season 2, and I was disappointed that it made the Deceptions evil!

It ruined the entire character development for Starscream and the other Decepticons!

Now, you got me thinking of the development can flow:

First, there is the road to recovery + the search of the Emberstone + and there are mentions of the complicated relationship between Megatron and Decepticons (especially Starscream)

While relationships are struggling to mend, the kids and Maltos decide to step in and make them come together.

There are complications at first, and maybe the characters got into a precarious situation, which others have to work together

Jealously and envy can also be added into the mix to make more character development!

Throughout every episode, there will be slight hints of future foreshadowing about the Quintessons coming down to Earth

How the [REFORMATTED] plot can flow:

(DISCLAIMER: EPISODES WILL BE MENTIONED BUT WILL BE REFORMATTED INTO MY VERSION OF HOW THE STORY WILL BE DEVELOPED! THESE ARE MY OWN THOUGHTS, SO CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM WILL BE NICE! I'M JUST SETTING UP IDEAS OF WHAT WOULD BE GOOD TO FIT IN THE PLOT!)

S2 EP1: Aftermath

While searching for missing Emberstone shards, the kids and Maltos tried to get to know each other (let's just say the Decepticons aren't too fond of the Cybertronians).

There are some exceptions:

Breakdown and Bumblebee

Nightshade and Tarantulas

Hashtag and Starscream

back to the plot-

At first, it's awkward and strange since the Decepticons are ENTIRELY new to the concept of the Terrans (especially Shockwave)

Although it might seem to be going good, it escalated a bit when they lost an Emberstone shard on a hunt or either because of the Decepticons not being fond of the Terrans

The Maltos family can try and invite them over and have them play a game where they can try and get everyone to bond.

However, it only made complications worse. This leads to a fight and some quarrel ensues between them

In the meantime, another character might have found one of the Emberstone shards but accidentally dropped it.

BOOM! Aftermath is formed, and chaos ensues. Characters will loose left and right because of their uncooperativeness due to whatever reason why they got into the fight in the first place

But when one of the characters was about to get harmed, another one, despite despising them, swoops in and saves them.

Everyone works together and knocks out Aftermath, deciding to keep him in a safe place but not treat him inhumanely (like in Season 1) until he calms and sees what they can do with him

S2 EP2: In Ruins

There would not be many changes since it fits perfectly between Mo and Nightshade's dynamic

It can be used as a possible foreshadow

S2 EP3: CONTROL ALT DELETE

Like the plot, they will be clearing up G.H.O.S.T. stuff

There would probably be a lot of misinterpretations this time, considering that Hashtag's alt mode is still a G.H.O.S.T. truck

They could probably discover there were many Ghoids that were accidentally activated, and they need to find a hard drive to shut all of them down

Hashtag attempts to get Shockwave to open up and Shockwave attempts to close her down. He eventually snaps at her, which she reluctantly leaves to give Shockwave some space.

Nightshade and Tarantulas saw this and intervened, trying to convince him to try and accustom and embrace the new generation

In the meantime, everyone was working on trying to take down the Ghoids, and Hashtag was there. She tries to help but gets overwhelmed. She tries driving away with several of them latching onto her, but she eventually brings herself some attention when she accidentally heads into the town

Shockwave follows her (begrudgingly), wanting to apologize and helps her with the Ghoids, but more surrounded them.

At the last minute, Tarantulas and Nightshade were able to shutdown the Ghoids with a hard drive. Shockwave and Hashtag reconcile, keeping it friendly and mutual with each other

S2 EP4: BUTTERFLY EFFECT

Just like S2 EP2, there won't be many changes compared to the original.

All Transformers and Terrans gets introduced in their holoform mode. For the Terrans case, Wheeljack can craft a technology that masks their original forms to look human

Swindle's brother and several other Decepticons might be invited or come over by themselves and want to see what was happening

The Terrans tried to keep the Decepticons on a low profile + Swindle's brother trying to find his brother + while Maltos and Terrans are dealing with Robby's feelings and having a crush

There might be several cues that there was a presence of Quintessons near, which both Terrans and Decepticons have to fend off.

S2 EP5: TOGETHERNESS

Same thing. Plot for this episode stays the same

However, rather than betrayal, it was more that Aftermath didn't feel like he belonged with the Malto family

Jawbreaker learns that he can't force Aftermath to live with the family. So everyone decides to leave Aftermath to join the Decepticons, taken under Breakdown's wing.

S2 EP6: SPITFIRE

The plot stays the same. More bonding with everyone and amendments.

The concept is taken from the previous episode. This time, Starscream (along with Novastorm and Skywarp) is the one to discipline Spitfire

S2 EP7: THE IMPOSTERS

The plot slightly shifts away from the conflict.

Spitfire (in Twitch's body) learns about the family within the Maltos

Twitch (in Spitfire's body) learns about Starscream's plot of stealing the Emberstone pieces, but she doesn't know the exact details

S2 EP8: DUDE, WHERE IS MY TRAILER?

This time, Decepticons think it's something they can trash for fun, but don't realize it was Optimus's trailer

Hashtag recommends the Decepticons go public online, but they were hesitant

S2 EP9: WITWICKY, PART 1

Hashtag and Mo discovers what was underground

Quintessons are coming down to raid Earth and destroy users of Quintus Prime

Starscream steals the Emberstone shards after realizing how to defeat the Quintessons

Spar

Dispute breaks out in confusion of Starscream's actions of stealing the rest of the Emberstone

Everyone tries to stop the Quintessons from coming despite how hard it is.

S2 EP10: WITWICKY, PART 2

Everyone begins to put up a struggle against them

Quintessons got a hand on the Cyber Slayer and drains everyone energies

Morgan and Robby help regain control of the Titan

They all work together to send the Quintessons fleeing away from Earth

Starscream apologizes for the misunderstanding

Everyone come backs to life again

Happy ending!!

I want to rewrite the entire plot of the 2nd season of Earthspark:

1)Instead of Starscream, the main villain is Quintesson. (The whole season). That is, the Quintessons want to collect Emberstone, gain the power of Quintus Prime and destroy another world

2) Due to the fact that the Decepticons are not villains, we will have even more of their disclosures on the good side

3) And in the end, all together: Autobots, Malto, Decepticons will defeat the Quintessons

The Good ending. Peace, friendship, love 😘

Here is an idea

Breakdown outgrowing his armor , letting his mesh spill over and stuff is super hot and all

But consider this , breakdown getting a not so little reformatation/upgrade operation to better accomadate his weight and all

His extra-weight doesnt go anywhere , in fact he becomes even heavier , his new alt and set of armor have the ( go big or go home mindset /especially on the big part )

The alt/armor compliments his weight , being way thicker and more heavy-duty, making him even stockier , he gets even an certain 2-3 foot height boost cause he is simply bigger everywhere

He feels bigger and stronger than ever , and sure there are some minor setbacks , like his chest blocking his vision , and cause his shoulders are more wide he has to pass sideways between some doors , and he lost quite a bit of his flexibility and speed , but he can tank more damage and his punches have more weight in them

It really pays off when he sees knock out look of hunger/lust and even a bit astounded

He cant wait when he starts to outgrown his new updated frame , to blow his first gasket to get love handles that e eventually become tire-handles , everyrhing else , including passionate moments with knock out

And he has no reason to stop ( besides the size becoming too much making him slower /which he ignores )

After all one can always strive for better or in this case bigger

Delightful. I like the element of transformation there--and the thought of BD getting just that big and still outgrowing his armor rapidly is wonderful.

Notes: This is an extract from the same RP as Into the Black is based on! I had to reformat it a little so I hope it reads well. Warning for language and implied sexual abuse. Gustav talks about his past a little during a sleepover between Azizi, Gogo, Mauahara, Aisha, and himself.

It’s not an uncommon question to hear, especially not considering that his work involves sitting at a bar for the entire night. It’s Gogo who asks it- why doesn’t he drink, and Azizi who follows it up by an encouragement, and an assurance that he doesn’t have to explain if he doesn’t want to.

“Why don’t I drink?” he echoes, quietly, “Um.”

He trails off. Plenty of people have tried to get him to break his teetotal streak for a bit of fun, noncomprehending the reasons behind his staunch refusal. That being said, today has upended his whole life. He’s exhausted, and exhausted of keeping himself in check. Of the unyielding control. Earlier today, he let go, and it didn’t ruin everything. Earlier today, he let go, and his reward was and is the way Azizi is sat against him, pressed up close.

Maybe the control can slip a little. The demons that bay at his heels have had their fill already. What can go wrong?

As he debates taking the full glass of wine sat next to him, he looks between Azizi, sat next to him, and Cyril, across from him. The rest left earlier, and didn’t see how he reacted to tonight’s events- how it broke him down to bare essentials. Cyril would never judge him, that’s why he turned to him, but he can feel the quiet heat of shame on the back of his neck nonetheless.

But fuck that, and fuck shame. One drink isn’t a big deal. It isn’t.

“No,” he says, slowly, “I mean, it’s fine. A glass won’t kill me or anything.”

Despite that, there’s clear reluctance as he reaches for the stem and lifts it to his lips. A second passes. He could put it back down, back out, and keep the promise he made to himself long, long ago.

Today has been a day of broken promises already, though, so it’s only right that he takes a long, deep drink.

For those many years, he’s made sure only to drink virgin drinks. They’re tasty, but they’re missing a vital component (obviously). The slow-hot-burn of liquor, which now fills his heart and lungs. Thick, robust red wine, spicy and earthy. Damn good stuff. He licks his lips greedily.

“Well,” he says, a playful edge to his voice, “I’m not allergic.”

Everyone turns to vices to destress, and the Fang is a den of vice. So why does he, a member of the Sub Rosa, turn down drink and drugs every single time?

Every time until day, anyway.

Well- who cares? It’s specifically to spite whoever asked the question. It’s not their business why he does anything.

The reality is because the answer is horribly predictable. It’s stupid, a story told a thousand and one times. He knows how it sounds when posed to other people, that he’s being haughty, superior, but that’s not it at all. If anything, he’s envious.

He shakes his head as if trying to dispel the clouds from his mind.

“It’s a long story,” he manages.

There it is. Vulnerability, like the tremor of the skin on a drum, tension waiting to be released an explosion of sound.

He doesn’t like to talk about himself. But none of them do, not a one person here. Except for maybe Gogo, but Gogo is the exception to most of the rules.

“It’s a little cliché,” he settles on.

There’s no way for him to know what time it is. Or what day, even.

His mouth tastes beyond disgusting, dry as a bone. He rouses into a dry cough which spits blood onto the wet floor. He gropes around on the damp tiles. For a moment, he worries it’s vomit, or more blood. When his eyes open, begrudgingly, he’s relieved to find it’s the sheen of rain, coming from the holes in the ceiling.

“You woke up,” a voice says.

He startles, wheeling around to find a man he doesn’t recognise buckling his jeans.

“Yeah,” he rasps in reply, as a wad of cash hits him in the face. He’s too nauseous to be angry at the mistreatment. He just grabs his clothes and pulls them onto his sticky body, pocketing the cash.

He really hopes it’s night, because he needs another hit, and getting them from the day-dealers is hard when he looks desperate.

“I got really into drink and drugs when I was younger,” he explains, looking down at the wine with a pang of anxiety which goes down smooth with another sip, “It bad, as you’d imagine.”

He peels his clothes off and throws them aside with a grimace, turning on the shower and waiting for it to warm up. Raising his arms over his head, he looks in the mirror and bites his lip at the fresh scar on his side. It’s raised and ugly, some blood still clinging to his skin.

“Wow, Femi!” his sister calls, leaning in the doorway with a rustle, a bag of prawn flavoured snacks in her hand, “Looks like someone stole your kidney!”

“Shut up, slut,” he snips back, poking at the scar with a wince before a stormy look crosses over his face, “It’s nothing.”

“Sure,” she answers, dubious but not pushing him just yet, “Where were you last night? I helped you set up that shipment of smack for daddy and you disappeared on me! Do you realise how many dicks I had to suck to get them to move it without you?”

“I’m sure you loved it,” he says, and whilst his words are cruel, he’s too distracted to be venomous, “I was side tracked. I’ll pay them back- steal more of it. I know the warehouse, they think the new locks’ll keep me out.”

“You owe me,” Emiliya complains, “I have debt collectors up my ass-”

“Um,” he stalls, blinking the memory away, “This might need some context.”

The apartment is a shithole, but it’s their shithole. Three tiny rooms crammed together, and made worse by the sprawling monster of wires. Tech everywhere, unbuilt servos and tiny little clocks suspending like dissected frogs. He has to give them a wide berth as he moves through the room to throw himself onto the sofa.

It was leather once, but now it’s mostly holes, and creaks loudly under his tiny weight.

“Yefemi!” a woman’s voice calls, high and sweet, “Is that you?”

Her head pokes around the corner. Her hair is long, tied back loosely, her expression weathered yet unendingly kind.

“If it wasn’t you be in trouble mama,” Yefemi replies, not unkindly as she sits down on the sofa next to him, pushing the hair out of his face where it’s fallen.

“I got really into it after my-”

He bites his lip before he can continue, an instinct. Electricity sizzles around him threateningly, the subconscious effect of his wild, primal magic. The grief chokes inside his throat, hard and pain and god, people who say grief gets easier are filthy liars. It hurts just as badly as it did when it happened, like a wound’s that only ever festered and never healed.

It’s cold. Sometimes they can’t afford heat all the time, and by the looks of it the electronics are off, so nothing stops the drizzle from seeping inside. He shakes off his coat and hangs it on the back of the door, the patter of rain and the wail of sirens below filling the otherwise quiet apartment.

Mama must be out, he thinks, with a frown. She’s sick, and yet she still insists on doing things for people. It’s like she likes being taken advantage of, men who don’t pay her appropriately for fixing their shit, or treat her like the help.

Ugh.

It’s why he’s surprised to find her asleep on a chair by the window, a circuit board in her lap.

“Mama,” he says, exasperated, “You need to stop doing this. I told you to lie down, I can bring that stuff to Cruise-”

As he approaches, dread suddenly engulfs his whole being. It’s like some kind of visceral demon breathing down his neck. Her eyes are open, but unseeing.

“Mama?” he repeats, softly, and his perspective spirals outwards.

He watches himself reach for her arm, and she’s cold. Her skin is cold, icy cold, and her chest is still. No breath leaves her lips.

“No,” he breathes, a sharp inhale, “No, no, no, no, no, no!”

He shakes his head, back inside the room, swallowing the pain like a bitter, bitter pill.

“To be honest with you,” he says, quietly, “My name’s not Gustav.”

No turning back now. He doesn’t wait for that to fill the room.

“It’s Yefemi,” he says, “I had to change my name after I escaped Neo-Necropolis. Debt collectors.”

He takes another sip of the wine, letting it run over his tongue, another crackle of electricity around him.

“I got really into drink and drugs after my mama died,” he says, quickly, before he can think better of it.

He sucks in a deep breath like he’s drowning, and has to push through the voices screaming for him not to scare his past, because they deserve to know the truth. His truth.

“We were poor as shit,” he says, bitterly, “When I was younger, I had a step-dad, but I have no idea who my real dad is. I assume he bailed on us, because my mama never told me anything.”

Hello! After much debate I decided to get the upgrade for GoodNotes5 so I thought I’d put out my own review! There were a lot of negative comments about it but I figured there was no harm in trying it myself, especially since it was free to download 😅 Anyways, a very long review under the cut!

I was skeptical when I previewed it in the AppStore due to all the negative reviews, but I honestly didn’t find much an issue with the upgrade at all other than a few minor things here and there. i feel like this is going to be super long, so i’ll be sticking with some highlights!

1. the new format

personally, the organization of folders/categories/etc hasn’t been a deal breaker for me thus far on gn4 or gn5 as long as I can still get to my things without having to make it through a labyrinth in order to find them. the introduction of folders isn’t really a new concept, just a replacement for the categories in gn4 and as expected works the same (the folders, imo, look cleaner too). the folders can be arranged by the date of you last interacting with it or alphabetically.

an addition i really like, though, is the ability of being able to favorite a folder, notebook or note for quick access. it’s a small thing to be excited over, however i find it very neat and handy since i use a numerous amount of sub-folders inside larger categories in order to organize my things. bookmarked pages can also be accessed here!

the search function is also still present as you can see in the first pic above, and works the same as in gn4, although maybe a little less advanced. you can also find your recently opened documents underneath the search bar as well, which i find useful for quick access purposes. 

something else i was overjoyed to discover was the ability to import your notes from gn4 over to gn5. the only con i can really find with this is the fact that from what i can see, you cannot reformat the pages of your gn4′s notebook in gn5 without it freaking out on you. 

that is to say that if one of your pages is grid paper on gn4 and you try to change the paper template on gn5, the page will no longer format correctly to the gn5 paper. copying a pasting the content (which i’ve discovered you can do across the apps (i.e. copying content from gn4 and pasting it into gn5)) only helps a little but imo it still looks a bit messy. 

2. toolbar improvement

the tool bar has made some large improvements, including a new pen and other upgraded features gn4 didn’t have. being able to to access my camera roll in order to add pictures directly from the toolbar is a very welcome change as i actually hated the old process lmfao. 

although i don’t have a a picture to show for it, the eraser tool also now has the ability to just erase highlighter marks! another small thing that got me excited :D

the integration of the color wheel is also welcomed wholeheartedly! once you choose your color, it’s also as simple as clicking the ‘add to presets’ button in order to save it to your color collection!

3. final thoughts:

the only huge issue i have with the app is that it backs up to iCloud instead of allowing me to redirect the back ups into Google Drive as I’ve been doing with gn4. exporting my notes is a minor issue, since it still allows me to send it off to Google Drive, DropBox, etc. for my purposes, i’m switching over to gn5 since the improvements outweigh a lot of the cons people have pointed out since it’s release. not to say they’re wrong, of course, considering we all have different needs, but as for me, switching over is in my best interest.

Pros

One of the best ways to have your threads all organized in one place. You may have to scroll/go through pages, but tagging makes it pretty easy overall to find threads if you need to check something or just want to reread.

If everyone has a blog, you can keep up with everyone’s Tumblr threads if you want. That involves a lot of following, but if you really want to read all that, you have the chance to.

If one mun deletes their muse’s blog, the content will still be available to peruse on the other muse’s blog.

Drafting makes it easier to work on replies at your own pace and save them as you go.

Notifications (when they’re working) are easy to track without being annoying, so it’s easier to keep track of what’s gotten replies and what you need to work on.

Conducive to sprites.

Really the easiest way to have an open available to anyone to start things off.

Cons

As you may have noticed, Tumblr likes to actively make itself worse. Especially with ditching editable reblogs—there’s an easy workaround if you have the right XKit, but good luck on mobile. Without clipping reply chains, the posts get really long really fast.

Not terribly conducive to fast-paced threads.

Half of the pros above don’t apply to three-or-more-person threads. These threads are still doable, but they can get disorderly very easily.

Private threads don’t work here. You also need to worry about trigger tagging a bit more.

Can make muns feel pressured to make/commission sprites or write longer replies.

Chat Threads

What Are They?: Threads taking place over Discord or Skype. They’re typically DMs including only the mods and the muns involved. Some RPs may have separate Discord servers where all muns can enter and hold chat RPs in separate channels.

Pros

Private by default. No one who isn’t directly involved in a thread (and certainly no one outside the RP) will be able to spy on the happenings.

Major spoiler information you don’t want unrelated parties to know (yet) can be posted here without risk. Likewise, if you're worried a thread might dive into sensitive territory, you can have it here without triggering any non-participants.

Generally less pressure to produce long replies. More conducive to one-liners and rapid exchanges.

Probably the easiest way to run threads with more than two muses.

Notifications are usually reliable.

No matter how long the thread gets, it’s all right there in a single link, even if you need to scroll a lot.

Cons

If you want to keep a record of these threads, you’re either going to have a whole lot of old DMs clogging up your chats, or you’ll have to migrate everything elsewhere. Especially beware Skype, which likes to randomly bar access to everything but the last message sent sometimes.

If you do want others to know what’s going on and/or appreciate your excellent prose, you’re also going to have to tell them yourself.

Shorter replies can mean more pressure to reply quickly.

Longer replies can quickly go over the character limit, sometimes requiring several messages to get everything through.

Sprites are inconvenient at best.

If you want to save replies as you go along, you’ll usually have to compose them somewhere else. Discord at least usually saves messages in progress, but you’ll still have to worry about the character limit.

Notifications generally go away once you check a reply, making it harder to be sure what all you still need to reply to. They can also interfere with whatever else you’re doing on the chat site.

Docs Threads

What Are They?: Threads taking place on Google Docs. Generally, one mun writes up a “post,” and some kind of horizontal line or other indicator is inserted before the next mun starts typing.

Pros

Relatively reliable as a site (to be fair, I’m comparing it to Tumblr and Skype here, so that may not mean much in context).

Appropriate for private threads.

More formatting options, if that’s your thing.

Sprites are easier to include than in chat threads. You can reformat/resize them as necessary without needing to alter the original image files like you have to do for Tumblr sometimes.

Cons

If you’re both on the doc, you can watch each other compose replies. This isn’t a con for everyone, but being watched can really make muns nervous. This might also lead to confusion if you type something out and then decide to delete it and take the reply in a new direction.

Sometimes weird stuff happens with permissions and doc access. This especially goes if you want people besides the involved muns to see it.

Google Docs is the most likely place for you to have actual productive stuff mixed in with RPs, so it might not be the best organization-wise (though folders are still a thing).

The entire thing can be edited by anyone with access. This could be a pro, and the track changes feature means you can revert it, but accidental deletions of your or the other mun’s writing are more likely with this format.

Relies on you checking the doc regularly or your thread partner telling you when they’ve responded.

Conclusion

This doesn’t exhaust the list of possible thread locations—there’s still RPNow, other RP sites, forum sites, and for all I know people are using Tumblr Messenger for it these days. But these three have been the most popular in this RP community while I’ve been around, and for good reason. While each thread’s situation is the top consideration, you also need to consider that different muns may be averse to different threading locations. Try to accommodate that when you can, but be prepared to go beyond your own preferences if you want to thread with everyone available.

In January of 1977, I turned ten-years-old. And around that time, I would up getting my second book collection of vintage comic book stories--a book that, up until that point I didn’t even know existed. We found it in the remaindered section at Two Guys, a regional low-rent department store chain, kind of like the K-Mart of its day. And because I had money that had been given to me for my birthday, I was able to buy it. By that point, it was twelve years old and had gone through several printings--it was, in fact, the very first collection of vintage comic book stories ever published, coming out in 1965 just ahead of the Batman TV show craze.

THE GREAT COMIC BOOK HEROES began life as an article that Jules Feiffer had written for Playboy magazine, of all places. It was a nostalgic look back, warts and all, at the comic books that were a part of his youth and the state of the industry a few years later when he was able to get into the business working for Will Eisner. From there, Feiffer went on to be a successful syndicated cartoonist, his strip primarily appearing in the Village Voice, as well as an accomplished playwright. He was so well-regarded, in fact, that he was able to convince a number of publishers to reprint stories from their back catalog in this hardcover collection--publishers who, up to this point, has never really worked in concert before. 

As no good reproduction materials existed, Feiffer worked in concert with DC’s Jack Adler to pioneered a process by which old comic books could be photographed under certain conditions to create a usable black line image, and then recolored. This same process was later used on many of DC’s reprints, in particular the FAMOUS 1st EDITION treasuries--I gather that the reason its use wasn’t more widespread is that it was more costly and time-consuming than was considered worthwhile for a regular comic book release.

Feiffer was also enough of a bigwig in 1965 that he was able to negotiate a minor detente in the legal agreement between DC/national Periodicals and Fawcett Publications, enough to allow him to reprint a single page’s worth of Captain Marvel. In 1977 when I read this book, I didn’t understand why this was a big deal (and in fact I had read this same story twice before already.) I believe it was the one and only exception ever granted, at least up until the point where DC began licensing the rights to Captain Marvel from Fawcett in 1973.

I will confess that, when I first bought this volume, I didn’t read any of Feiffer’s text. That seemed like work to me, who needed it? It was the stories that I was here for! I was hypnotized by the reproduction of one of the comic books that Feiffer had made and sold on the neighborhood street when he was a kid. I had begun to make my own comic books before this, and so this was a very primal point of connection for me--I think I may have read the text of just that one “chapter” (they were all short enough that they were only three or four pages long.)

I also didn’t read the stories featuring the Human Torch, the Sub-Mariner and Captain America that were included in the volume. Why would I? I had learned from past experience that I adamantly disliked Marvel comics, decried them whenever I was asked about them, so there was no need to investigate these stories. It would literally be months, not until the summer of 1977, when, on one dull day with nothing better to do, I finally cracked and read through both Feiffer’s full text and the three Marvel stories. And they (along with the write-ups on Timely in the Steranko History of Comics, coming soon) were enough to compel me to give Marvel another chance. But we’ll get to that in due time.

The one disappointing aspect of Feiffer’s book to me, coming to it twelve years later, is that there were already a number of stories in it that I’d read already. Because Feiffer tried to hit all of the mainstays of the big comic book houses in his reprints, and as often as possible, the opening or origin installments. The only times he varied from this approach was when there was some other aspect of the character or the strip that he was trying to highlight--a number of these series took a little while to completely crystallize in their final forms, and Feiffer took that into account when choosing his stories.

So what was reprinted in this volume? It opened with a two-page origin of Superman, taken not from ACTION COMICS #1 but rather from the more expanded version first shown in SUPERMAN #1. Thereafter, he ran a story that he sourced from SUPERMAN #3 but which was first published in ACTION COMICS #5. It’s really the first full story in which all of the quintessential elements of the Superman series coalesce: the Lois-Clark-Superman relationship in particular. There are several pages in the middle of it that were clearly reworked from newspaper strip samples, panels extended and reformatted into comic book pages haphazardly. 

Following the single page of Captain Marvel he could show, Feiffer then reprints the origin of Batman, from BATMAN #1 (which I’d read), as well as the first story featuring the Joker (likewise). This was about a year in, by which point Robin had been introduced, and wit the debut of the Joker all of the elements were in place. But not new to me. Next was a relatively late Human Torch story from MARVEL MYSTERY COMICS #20--like Batman, by this point the Torch’s young partner Toro had come into the series, and it had settled down into typical super-heroics. But I didn’t read it, not yet.

A pair of stories that I’d already experienced came next: the first adventure of the Flash (my third copy of it!) from FLASH COMICS #1 and the first installment of Green lantern from ALL-AMERICAN COMICS #16. Next came a solo Spectre story from ALL-STAR COMICS #1. I was familiar with this early version of the Spectre from the FAMOUS 1st EDITION reprint of ALL-STAR #3, but he wasn’t especially interesting to me. Because he was already dead and could do literally anything, there wasn’t a lot of drama to be found in his stories. Even as a kid, this deficit was apparent to me. Superman, at least, had to struggle to accomplish whatever his goal was.

Next came an adventure of Hawkman, sourced from FLASH COMICS #5. Here, Feiffer skipped the earliest adventures of the winged wonder so as to showcase the work of Shelly Moldoff on the strip (and in particular how often he was swiping Flash Gordon panels by Alex Raymond, which happened everywhere.) This was followed by a Wonder Woman story from WONDER WOMAN #2--actually, it was a single chapter of a four-chapter larger story, but I wouldn’t discover this for decades. Feiffer chose it as a good example of some of the strange sexuality that was operating under the hood of what at first glance appeared to be a patriotic heroine series. This was the stuff that really made Wonder Woman sizzle, and the lack of which one of the reasons why her series had such a lack of pop in the 60s and 70s.

Then came a Sub-Mariner adventure from MARVEL MYSTERY COMICS #7, by which point creator Bill Everett had worked out the bugs. I didn’t read it for several months, but essentially it’s an orgy of destruction, as Namor returns to Manhattan to carve out vengeance for his undersea race by wrecking and destroying his way across the city--he even at one point accosts Mayor Fiorello LaGuardia. There isn’t much plot, only carnage--and it ends with Namor’s friend Berry Dean warning him that the Human Torch would be on his trail. But that historic meeting wasn’t included.

I also skipped the origin of Captain America, from CAPTAIN AMERICA COMICS #1. It’s a pretty crude piece of work, like most of what was reprinted in this volume. There are only hints of the explosiveness that Jack Kirby would bring to the comic book page in the next few issues, to say nothing of the next few decades. The pages were a little bit more jigsaw puzzle-y, but only a little bit. That would change as Kirby got going on Cap.

Next came the first Plastic Man adventure, from POLICE COMICS #1, and which I’d read a few weeks earlier in SECRET ORIGINS OF THE SUPER DC HEROES. It was still a fun tale, but one that only hinted at the inventiveness that Jack Cole would bring to the character and to the page. I felt the same way about the Spirit based on the story that Feiffer reprinted here. He spent a lot of time talking up how innovative and impressive a series it was, but from this sampling, I just couldn’t see it. Part of that, no doubt, is that most scholars consider the best period of Eisner’s Spirit to run from around 1946-1950 or so. But Feiffer was working for Eisner for most of that period--he wrote several of the most memorable tales--and so his interest was in the earliest Spirit adventures, the ones he read as a kid.

So it was a highly-enjoyable volume, and one that would have a greater impact on me over the course of time, but also slightly disappointing. But I was glad to have it, in particular because its existence came as a total surprise to me. At this point in time, there were precious few compilations of old comic book stories, so each one was like a treasured gem.

Select the checkbox to Delete cropped areas of pictures option to reduce the size of the image or picture in the presentation.

Choose Email (96 ppi): minimize document size for sharing.

If the PPTX file is still too large or your file has been created with PPTX format already, here are more tips that you might need in the following parts.

Tip 2: Insert Your Pictures Instead of Copying and Pasting

The JPG (Joint Photographic Experts Group) format is a lossy compressed file format for pictures. Usually, a picture of JPG takes less storage space than that of BMP (Bitmap) and PNG (Portable Network Graphic).

When you copy a picture and paste it to a PowerPoint file, the picture might be reformatted to BMP or PNG, which makes your PowerPoint file larger finally. So, you’d better add the picture to PowerPoint with the insert function which maintains the original format of the involved pictures.

When you save an image, you need to select an image format for it. If you choose between the PNG and JPG, learning the difference on PNG vs JPG is vital.

Tip 3: Do Not Edit Images in PowerPoint

Before inserting a picture in PowerPoint, you’d better make sure you don’t need to make any further edits for it. Any edits for the picture within the PowerPoint file will be saved as a part of the file, which means that a lot of extra stuff would be stored.

Tip 5: Remove Personal Information

Microsoft Office stores your personal information and hidden properties of your PowerPoint file, such as the author name, document properties, etc. Remove them could also help you to reduce file size in PowerPoint. Here are the detailed steps.

Step 2: Click Check for Issues. In the pop-up menu, select Inspect Document.

Tip 6: Do Not Store a Thumbnail

PowerPoint allows you to save the thumbnail image so that you can preview the file when you search it in File Explorer. It is a useful feature to help you find the PowerPoint file you want quickly when there are many files with similar names, but this could increase the PowerPoint file size.

To disable the feature, you can:

Step 2: On the right-hand side, click Properties and select Advanced Properties.

Step 3: In the pop-up window, switch to Summary tab. Then uncheck the option Save preview picture.

Step 4: Click OK to save the changes. Then save the PowerPoint file.

In my case, the file size is reduced by 10KB for me after I disable the thumbnail preview feature. It’s a pretty small save and might not help you. But if you have tried all the other tips and you are still unsatisfied with the PowerPoint file size, you can try this method.

Tip 7: Upgrade Your Storage Device

If it is hard for you to reduce PowerPoint file size and your disk is running out of space, which makes you unable to store more data on the disk, you might need to upgrade your disk to a larger SSD or HDD.

Tip: If you don’t have another SSD or HDD, you can consider buying one. Here are some recommended SSDs and you can have a look: Best 1TB SSD Internal Hard Drive for Laptop and Desktop PC.

To replace your old disk with a larger one, you’d better transfer all the data. MiniTool Partition Wizard should be a helpful assistant. Here is how to migrate all the data on the old disk to the larger one with it. Please connect the larger disk to your PC and follow the steps below.

Step 1: Download MiniTool Partition Wizard by clicking the button below. Then install and launch it. To copy the system disk, you need to pay for the Pro Ultimate edition.

Step 2: When you get the main interface, click Migrate OS to SSD/HD Wizard under Wizard section in the left action panel.

Step 3: In the pop-up window, select Option A and click Next.

Tip: If you want to copy the operating system only, you can select Option B.

Step 4: In the following window, select the larger disk you prepared as the destination disk to store the copied data and click Next to continue.

Step 5: After selecting the destination disk, you can modify the Copy Options and Target Disk Layout. For an SSD, you’d better check Align partitions to 1MB. Then click Next.

Step 6: Read the pop-up note carefully which reminds you how to boot from the larger disk. Then click Finish. When you go back to the main interface, click Apply to execute the pending operations.

After copying the data, you can install the larger SSD or HDD to your PC and boot from it. You should get a lot of free space and you don’t need to reduce PowerPoint file size to save storage space now.

Further Tip: Extend the Drive Where the PowerPoint File Is Stored

If you prefer to store your PowerPoint files in a specific drive, it might be annoying when the drive is running out of space and you can’t save your PowerPoint files. Fortunately, you are able to extend the drive to get more free space if there is free space on other drives of your disk.

You can also use MiniTool Partition Wizard to achieve the goal and it’s totally free.

Tip: If you need to extend the system drive, please create a bootable USB drive via MiniTool Partition Wizard at first, and then boot from the USB drive to extend it.

Oh, of note! I'm playing soul silver*, and writing shit about said gameplay, but I'm not writing about Lyra*! She's a child, and that's gross. Maybe I'm a certain kind of gross, writing about pokefucking and being a monsterfucker at all, but I'm not a pedophile, lmao. Please just go away if you're looking for that. I'm writing my own character who is well into her adulthood, a researcher who never did the gym challenge as a youth, too focused on being a bookworm, and decided to partake of the challenge since she decided to start catching Pokemon as well as studying them. I probably won't go too into the story, unless any readers super want that.

*uhhh I'm not playing soul silver, I'm at a point, with certain Pokemon that I don't want to erase, but I'm far enough that I can't exactly remember and I do want this story to be a certain way. lmao... Okay I’m finally posting anything about my characters-who-have-enough-backstory-to-be-considered-an-OC. They’re all going to be ESO characters so far (all 2-3 of them right now). I decided to just post the questions I’ve been using to get a sense of them.

Yes, and she feels connected to her culture.

How and why did they learn their primary skill set?

Growing up basically next door to a volcano, fire magic just seemed natural. And she has a tendency to charge into potentially dangerous situations or get right up on the enemy in a fight, and so it was important for her to learn defensive spells along with destruction.

Do they have any family? What is their relationship like?

I need to think more about this. I think she has both her parents and a younger brother. Everyone gets along fine; she left because she grew up and likes to explore.

Do they have a (primary) home?

I think the Ald Velothi house is where she primarily lives.

Do they share it with others? Are their roommates also adventurers?

She and Talvini are the only ones who primarily live there, but the rest of my toons also crash there on occasion, and she’s cool with that. It keeps things interesting.

Do they like having somewhere to return to, or do they prefer to always be on the move?

Both. A home provides a safety net, even if she doesn’t stay there for very long or very often.

Do they know any of your other characters? How do they relate to them?

She’s dating Talvini and they’re super tight. Otherwise, I think they’re all friends to some extent. They may not frequently be in the same place, and sometimes they have to communicate through Tythis, but she’s happy to trade pants with anyone.

Are they an active member of any guilds? How do they relate to their guilds and their guildmates?

I think she’s slightly involved with both the Mages Guild and Undaunted, but she’s not quite enough of a nerd to fit in with the Mages Guildies, and not quite loud enough to fit in with the Undaunted.

Do they frequent the guild hall?

Nah.

How do they feel about combat?

She’s definitely more fight than flight, and quick to reach for her staff in the face of danger. And on one hand, she gets a bit of an adrenaline rush from fighting, but also she kind of wishes people wouldn’t be so quick to aggro, because then they end up dead.

How do they feel about stealing?

She’s not really the sneaky type, and so tends to avoid it, but morally, ambivalent.

How do they feel about murder (i.e., outside of combat)?

Not a fan. It’s dishonorable and a waste of a person.

How do they feel about necromancy?

Gross, super disrespectful, defiles the ancestors.

Is it important to them to be powerful?

Enough to be independent, yes. But she doesn’t seek power for the sake of power.

(If they’ve played any of the main questline) How are they coping with having been killed?

It definitely messes with her. She values being able to defend herself, and it’s how she justifies travelling all over Tamriel on her own. To be dragged off and murdered without so much as the chance to put up a fight has shaken her deeply. But it is important to her to appear confident and strong, so she doesn’t talk about it. Instead, she acts more outgoing to almost “taunt” people into revealing themselves as friend or foe. But she is absolutely terrified that for all her training, she’ll be killed again by some unseen enemy, and this time for good.

Are they religious? What pantheon/practice, if any, do they follow?

Yes, the Tribunal

How do they relate to their religion and/or their gods?

She’s definitely loyal, but not in a way that necessarily looks super solemn-and-devout to an outside observer. And I’m sure she’ll swear by Vivec’s holy nose hairs on occasion. But also I think she either is or has considered becoming a Buoyant Armiger.

Is this the dominant religion where they grew up? If not, how did they come to it?

Yes.

If they worship multiple gods, do they have a patron or “main” god?

Vivec is her patron. She likes the warrior-poet duality and tries to emulate that in herself. (She’s not much of a poet, but she still has a side that appreciates aesthetics.)

How do they feel about the various deities/pantheons/practices in Tamriel other than their own?

She doesn’t pay much attention to them, but generally accepts the Dunmer/Tribunal view that the Daedra are outdated but also “better” than the Aedra, but that really neither the Daedra nor the Aedra are worthy of worship.

(If they’ve played any of the main questline) How do they feel about having to travel to and from Coldharbour?

She definitely has some misgivings about traveling to and from the plane controlled by one of the four corners of the House of Troubles, and especially worries that she’s Tower-of-Babel-ing a bit, considering that going to Coldharbour to end Daedric threats is kind of Sotha Sil’s domain. But she tells herself that if any of the Three had a problem with it, they would have just told her up front.

What kind of mount do they prefer?

Sometimes a guar, sometimes a horse with Dwemer armor.

What kind of pet do they prefer?

The prong-eared grimalkin.

Dunmer-specific questions

How do they feel about the Great Houses (as a system, not necessarily each one individually)?

She grew up with it and is generally cool with it. But she has a complicated relationship with the Morag Tong. She recognizes their importance in keeping the Houses from civil war. But as her own reputation grows, so does her fear that she will end up with a writ out on her. Given her probably-PTSD from the whole being murdered thing, she is absolutely terrified of that possibility.

Do they belong to a Great House? If so, which one?

Yes, House Redoran.

Were they born into it, or did they choose to join?

She was born into it.

What is their rank in the House? (Or, more generally, are they a high-ranking member or more common-level?)

Common, probably Hireling.

How do they feel about the other Houses?

Hlaalu and Telvanni have too much subterfuge and competition for her tastes. She also regards Telvanni and Dres with disdain because of their attachment to slavery. And Indoril feels like Redoran but More So, and she likes her current level of Redoran.

How do they feel about Ashlanders?

She’s largely cool with them and wishes the Houses would leave them alone, but she’s also a bit wary because of some significant ideological differences, and probably because of Tribunal propaganda.

If they grew up in Morrowind, how do they feel about outlanders?

Given how she loves exploring the world/continent and seeing everything that exists, I think diversity is genuinely exciting to her, so she very much welcomes outlanders.

If they have interacted with any of the Tribunal, how do they feel about it?

Yes, and she’s both nervous and awestruck every single time.

How do they regard them when interacting directly (e.g., with awe, respect, disdain)?

Definitely with great respect, although she also tries not to go over the top and embarrass herself.

I still remember back in 2015, I wanted to own a gaming rig so much. I always read and watch gaming reviews on Youtube and other websites regarding gaming with PCs and Laptops. And then two years later, I finally own one. I finally can play Overwatch now, on my own laptop without much sacrifices. I’m so happy and also at the same time. Not going to lie, I put a lot of thoughts on deciding the perfect pc/laptop for me and finally I decided to buy the Legion Y520 by Lenovo.

But not all is well, for three months, I regretted buying this laptop, the main reason is because it have blue screen whenever I played games on it (from day 1).

Don’t get me wrong, the laptop doesn’t suddenly pop blue screen out of thin air, it only happen when I play games on it. It happen more often than I thought it would be. Of course, I’m not going to live with this defects throughout the lifespan of this laptop, especially considering the fact that I just bought it.

I did a lot of thinking on how to fix the problem, you know because if it is software, I think I can just google the problem from the bluescreen foot notes (funny thing because the bluescreen reasons differ from one another). First thing that I did of course, reformat and reinstall all the drivers.

I thought that would have fixed the blue screen problem. But no! It still keeps on popping out. Then I googled online for people that currently have the same issue as mine. Funny thing because I found one, but that person also doesn’t have any fix for this problem.

Then, I resorted to sending back to the store which I bought this laptop from. Funnily enough, the person that handled my laptop says he had no problem or whatsoever with my laptop but they did some ‘cleaning - crap’. Which is entirely bullshit, because I know my own laptop, and the problem that came with it. To put things through, they did nothing and the problem still recurring.

Since then, I played games on my laptop with one thoughts in my mind, at any time a blue screen can popup and crash the game.

Did I mention that when I first buy this laptop, I have upgraded the ram to 8GB by adding an extra 4GB to the second slot (the new ram has a speed of 2133 mHz so I came out with another hypothesis, could it be the ram not having the same speed be the suspect). It turned out, that ram was the one that has been putting me through hell. It was so bad because I realized when I went and buy a new ram at the same shop. Yeah the one that sells me the defected ram first. Thank god, after I switch the ram, everything works out just fine. I did not doubt Lenovo laptop again. It’s just a shitty ram. Note to self, next time remember to check the ram first before letting the staff assemble it to your laptop. They might just want to sell you shitty stuff so that they can gain more profit. Fuck them!

Another couple of months have passed, and Samara, Colleen, and Ryan have been hard at work.  Below you will find their updates for both November and December.

As you can see, they are started to see varying degrees of success.  I’m very happy with the effort that they have put in, and I expect that their sites will continue to grow.

Remember, this is the first time that any of them have really attempted to build a niche site, so the fact that they are starting to make money and get traffic is a good thing.  Below you will find the updates written by each of the students.

Hey everybody!

Happy New Year! I hope everyone and their niche sites went out with a bang in 2016.

I have been busy these last few months working on TinyFry.com. In truth there’s not a ton of new info to share, as you already know the strategy I’m using: publish good content, do some outreach, get a few backlinks. I’m also pleased to report that it seems to be working.

Traffic continues to grow, as you can see from this screenshot from Google Analytics.

In other positive news, I had my best months yet in November and December, earning $149 and $284, respectively. I’m obviously excited about this, but I also fear that my good performance was attributable mainly to holiday shopping and doesn’t truly reflect the growth trend I’ve been seeing. I guess we’ll have to wait and see what happens in January.

I took some time out to redesign and reorganize my home page, and I think it looks pretty respectable! I’ve also reformatted almost all of my articles, so that they all follow the same structure, for the most part. This was time consuming, but I think the feel and look are more coherent now.

On a negative note, I’ve realized I completely suck at social media. Theoretically, it doesn’t seem that difficult to find something interesting and relevant to post on a daily basis, but it actually is. I was able to get my act together for maybe a few weeks in the last two months, but then I just put social media on the backburner again.

I’ve also dropped the ball with my monthly newsletters. Embarrassingly, I actually forgot to send them on more than one occasion! At the moment they’re kind of like an afterthought for me, so now I’ve programmed a reminder in my phone to make sure I send them out. I haven’t made much of an effort to get new subscribers, although they continue to trickle in, and now I have about 50.

Overall I’m super pleased, and I feel like I’m seeing results from all the content creation, linkbuilding and outreach I’ve been doing. But to be perfectly honest, I thought I would see faster growth and better results sooner. Realistically, there are only so many hours in the day, and like lots of you, I’m also juggling a family and a job, among other things, and sometimes I don’t even sit down at my computer until 11 pm!

The real truth is that it’s an uphill battle that takes a lot of time, patience and perseverance. That’s okay though because, as I’ve said before, I’m in this for the long haul! I hope you guys are too!

It’s been a short couple months since our last update, or maybe it feels a bit longer for you. Things have been busy, but in a great way! In the past month I’ve started my own business in the SEO/Web Development realm AND am getting ready to jetset off to Southeast Asia for a few months. Nothing like the sand in your toes and a cocktail in hand while you work, am I right?

Enough about me, let’s talk about Coustii! November and December were big months for my site. If you remember, back and July I switched my link building efforts to content creation. Selecting keywords in Long Tail Pro that had low competition and good traffic.

In October, I received about 4,500 sessions. In November I had 6,700! Then things got real in December when I received 12,500 sessions! That means I practically doubled my traffic from November to December. I also noticed a slight increase in my DA from 32 to 34.

December: Of course November and December are prime Amazon affiliate months. With people buying presents for friends and family, I received a nice little check from Amazon. In November I made $92 and in December $111. I know that the holiday gift giving will subside in January, but I’m looking forward to seeing how my increase in traffic impacts my Amazon earnings.

Oh man, do I dread these write-ups.

They are a reminder that time flies, and that excuses build walls between you and your dreams. But, it’s not all bad this time around.

I do have some victories (small ones)! And everything is still trending in the right direction – just very slowly. So, I’m going to choose to look at things being positive in general.

The Victories:

I think I’ve published three or four articles since our last check-in. I know that is pathetically low, but it’s a lot for me – especially considering how long it can take me to finish just ONE article. Maybe it’s actually time to outsource a few. I’ve been trying to avoid that because money is tight as it is, but I think I’m finally going to bite the bullet and see if I can find a decent writer at a decent price.

I wrote my first guest post. Yeah, that’s right. I’m a guest-poster now. I actually think I wrote a really great piece that’s going to (hopefully) get a decent amount of traffic for this person’s site. I also allowed a guest post on my site. I wasn’t expecting to do that, but I trusted the person, I need content, and it’s kind of hypocritical to be a guest-poster and not a guest-postee, no? So, I did it, and I’m glad I did.

I’ve reinstated my Amazon Affiliate links. I was starting to get some actual traffic, and I figured it was time to see what kind of clicks I was getting. No sales yet, but I’m getting clicks. Just waiting for that first person to order! You can see my pathetic Amazon stats below. Here’s the thing… I only have two affiliate articles right now. Everything else is informational. After I finish the big article that I’m working on, I’m going to transition to writing 2-3 (killer) money articles. Maybe more. I don’t want the site to become lopsided, but I’m definitely out of the sandbox and it’s time to see if I can get some sales.

I have a concern about my market…

I’m a little worried that a large portion of my market is going to be under age. When I think about who’s the most interested in baseball products, it’s definitely kids. Most adults (with the exception of me, and awesome people like me) don’t play baseball.

They used to, but they don’t now.

That means that a lot of the traffic to my site may be kids that have no means to actually make a purchase.

I’m not naive enough to think that parents don’t search the same things their kids do, in an effort to buy them the best gear. But I also know that kids are going to be driving these purchases, and how does that work, exactly?

I really don’t know.

Do teenagers put stuff in their parent’s Amazon cart and then beg them to buy it? Do they research this stuff and then show their parents the screen and say, “this is what I want”! Only to have their parents ignore them for weeks at a time until they’re ready to make a purchase?

I don’t now how modern e-commerce works. When I was a kid, you went to the sporting goods store with your parents and showed them what you wanted… and then they bought you something cheaper.

So it’s a legitimate concern, I think. Do any of you guys have niche sites that fall into this category? I’d be interested to hear.

The Stats

As you can see from the stats below, I’m not exactly blowing the doors off of Google. I’d say I’m doing okay considering the lack of backlinks and the lack of content. Keyword planning and on-page SEO are the only things garnering me traffic right now.

But, as I say every time we have an update, I’m not giving up. This is just what my pace has been. I was never in this for a quick buck, anyway. Authenticity was probably the most important thing to me.

It just kinda sucks that I’m authentically slow. I hope everyone else is crushing it!

I believe that they all have the skills now to more or less do everything on their own.  So, whether they continue to work on these existing sites or whether they decide they want to build something new, they have the knowledge and ability to do so.
