♪ Worldwide - Big Time Rush

I'm gonna be honest- these episodes kind of fell apart while I was making this. The more I re-wrote the story for it's second draft the less this version made sense and the less interested I was to work on it. I have not much else to say except sorry this part is kinda iffy and sorry it took so long. I promise you I'll make up for this in the next episode I PROMISE

Notes on both episodes under the cut!

Sweden Sour

* (I think it’d be really funny if Cody just doesn’t talk at all this episode. Not a word. Just nods and head shakes and depressed faces.)

* Cody’s incredibly depressed after Noah’s elimination. Sierra’s over the moon, though. She sees Cody depressed and gives him a tight side hug, petting his head. She tries consoling him with “I know you’re sad, but it’s ok! At least I’m still here~.” Cody starts sobbing, head in hands. Heather is sick of this already.

* The teams get their “ibuilda” pieces and the Amazons argue on what it’s supposed to be. Cody stares at the pieces for a few seconds before the light briefly re enters his eyes. He starts building. Courtney tells him to stop but Heather tells her he’s obviously got it, so let him work. They start helping him build… something.

* Once the Amazons are done, Heather, Sierra and Courtney take a step back to see what they’ve built. It’s a giant wooden Noah head. Their faces drop. Heather is filled with murderous rage.

* We built Noah’s face (We’re gonna take first place) Cause we built Noah’s faaaace

* Tyler’s jumper would be white.

* Cody doesn’t sing in this number. Chris notices and stares at him threateningly. He reluctantly hums the chorus and Chris takes what he can get.

* (Alejandro takes off his shirt to pull the boat like a freak. Duncan is unfazed and Tyler will deny it if you ask him if he blushed.)

* Sierra hits Noah’s Head hard enough it falls over on its side and suggests sawing off the side to ride in him like a boat. Heather and Courtney agree to this. Cody has no comment.

* Duncan and Alejandro don't bother bending over backwards to please Tyler. Duncan makes himself captain and no one argues.

* When the Amazons go to pick a captain, Courtney grabs the hat and declares herself captain without input. Heather tries to argue but Courtney argues back- Cody is in no condition, no one trusts Sierra and Heather took control the last challenge so this time she’s in charge. Heather reluctantly backs down.

* Amazons catch up to team Chris in the water. Alejandro sees them approach and makes note of Cody’s face, making fun of him for being so upset about “the Noah thing”. Cody furrows his eyebrows and points furiously at Chris’s boat. Courtney agrees that yes, they should shoot their boat.

* It doesn’t matter who wins the challenge since it’s a non elimination round, but I want to say the Amazons persevere. The massage helps Cody enough that he’s not stone faced next episode at least.

Aftermath III (Aftermath Aftermayhem)

* Gwen, Owen and Noah are introduced together. Gwen walks out first and Owen, hugging Noah to the point of lifting him off the ground, walks behind her.

* Geoff asks what all that’s about and Gwen responds that Owen refused to let him go until Noah “understood just how sorry he was”. Noah insists he forgives him, but Owen still won’t let him go.

* The Owen square is replaced by the Tyler square. The prompt is survive. (The hosts throw a bunch of debris at the contestant for thirty seconds and if they dodge everything they move on.)

* (For brevity’s sake, assume all of the contestants that participated in the board game in the original episode participated here [with the exception of Tyler, who is replaced with Owen]. They all get eliminated the same way as well, Noah getting got by aliens, Owen falling down the booby trap square and Beth making it to the final question.)

* When Beth gets stumped on the last question (What was Duncan's band called) Noah yells at her, frustrated: “Oh my- It’s Der Schnitzel Kickers, Beth!!” Confetti and balloons fall from the ceiling.

* (He knows this because Cody had mentioned it in a conversation after the London challenge.)

* Noah initially complains about winning the game, but Owen reminds him that he gets to see Cody again and he shuts up immediately.

* “Noah wins!” “Wasn’t he disquali-” “NOAH WINS!! Let’s wrap it up. We’re done here.”

Patalliro! is fascinating to me because of stuff like this. It's unapologetically gay - even within its anime which aired during primetime hours in 1982 - in a way that many later BL manga would never be, like the ones from the early 2000s which would never dare to call their characters actual homosexuals. Patalliro has actually aged quite well in this regard, there's something comforting about how campy it is.

I guess what I also grasp from the sofia interview and from your analysis is that rofia’s relationship enables new sides of each characters and relationship to explore, for e.g, season 3 filled with the flirtatious confidence whereas season 4 its emphasis lies vulnerability and softness that emanates their dynamic, an unprecedented side of rafe especially and sofia, I guess that makes me think what new parts of these characters and their relationship we will see in season 5, will it be forgiveness for rafe and a sense of resilient independence for sofia we have yet to see or will it revert back to old habits of mistrust and a lack of confidence.

I think their relationship in a way is a catalyst for new characteristics and traits for the writers to discover, which is why I kinda have hope for their relationship in s5, because their relationship could be used as visceral progression of rafe’s character, where he’s able to get past his classist views, abandonment and loneliness qualms or ability to really be authentic, rupture the facade he constantly puts on for people, I feel like if they ditch their relationship it’ll be a waste because sofia and their relationship goes against everything he’s ever believed and kiara doesn’t exactly push for that progression nor have they built up that relationship enough for there to a story/narrative learning, not fully anyways, not including sofia would feel incomplete to his and her storyline, but what worries me is the lack of importance they’ve shown to sofia from fiona’s interview, if they didn’t help her in creating the character does that indicate they didn’t envision her to be permanent or important part of rafe’s storyline? has that or will it changed?

I love your idea of the seasons each representing the growth/different facets of rafe and Sofia’s relationship– this has definitely made me more intrigued to see what the next phase of their journey is. And your theories of rafe learning to forgive and Sofia learning independence in s5 is so in tune with their arcs.

But I also agree– there’s a very real possibility of rafe reverting to closed off, suspicious rafe and Sofia losing her brightness and spark. Perhaps they will hit those lows before reaching a better place together (that’s just my hopeful self speaking😭)

100% agree!! I think a big part of his character is trying to become someone, make a name for himself, live up to his father’s legacy/expectation. Sofia being introduced gave him another path and incentive– one where he didn’t have to be perfect and strong all the time. He could be vulnerable & soft. Which leads me to your point of him addressing those abandonment/loneliness issues, because now that he’s experienced life without those problems, he can yearn for a departure from that messed up psyche. And I think him seeing the pogues all with their partners, kie mourning the loss of jj, in s5, will make rafe realise how much he misses Sofia as well as miss who he was with her.

Again, I agree!! With the whole riara thing, I think most of their (speculated) relationship is based on this intense sort of passion/carnal desire. But like obx is NOT that typa show yk😭? Like both rafe and kie and very explosive and emotional characters, and that intensity may serve well in some sort of dark romance show, but in obx it only futhers each of their hatred for pogues and kooks and plays up that dynamic. And in s4 when Kie cuts rafe free in the storm, that doesn’t convey their hidden feelings, it serves to show kie’s innate goodness/sense of justice. Let’s stop reducing her character to serve a man/ship!!

Each of their respective narratives don’t line up. Perhaps in s5 when they both want to get their hands on Groff (kie for revenge and rafe for money) they’ll bond, but I can literally imagine rafe once again sell the Pogues/sell Kie out if Groff offers him a monetary incentive. (That’s my read on it at least, idk😭)

Exactlyyyy!! Like why go through the trouble of giving her a whole backstory, family members, storyline, upping Fiona to show regular, for it to be the end of her arc? Like the whole breakup scene was so trash and rushed. Like I was waiting for another scene to acknowledge what happened. Perhaps Sofia’s reaction or Rafe’s feelings (idk how he’s feeling he’s so confusing)?

And I agree, I lowkey think the writers dk what they’re doing for any of it. All these detailed analyses and break downs is me just picking up on things that the writers probably inadvertently did😭

Ehh idk, I still stand by the fact rafe and Sofia have the potential to be great!! And what we got in s4 was good too– if they added the deleted scenes and finished up their arc more tidily. That’s why I’m hoping s5 will give them the chance they deserve, because imo it narratively points to it (and no, it doesn’t narratively point to riara– just both kie and rafe are technically now “single” doesn’t mean they’re gonna hookup. Context people!! He’s just broken off his engagement and she’s just had her lover die in her arms– if they do get together it’ll be a low blow for kie’s development. For rafe not so much, since he’s an asshole, but still we’ve seen he clearly cares about Sofia, I want to see him yearnnnn!!!)

Mal obviously belongs to @lacunafiction and the bottom weirdo over there is Velia "Vee" Zane. Goes by she/they and it's so funny to me because Vee is like... the opposite of the red flag Mal is. Vee likes to hide, doesn't like doing ANYTHING, and is most likely the first one to die in a horror movie (because they lack the will😔).

Either way, Vee is crushing on Mal hard, but she doesn't even know that LOL (and how doesn't she notice???? like vee darling, you're super careful and cautious of everyone, but with Mal you're like super open-faced...)

Anyways, this is my 45th time telling y'all to play The Fernweh Saga, it's my absolute fav for a reason.

She's hasn't been someone I'm terribly invested in getting to know as a character, but reading your thoughts on her has really piqued my interest. I've never considered what being the goddess of love could mean I guess

THIS IS SO GOOD TO HEAR i love going into deep dive breakdowns of characters especially ones who don't really have a lot of content, because it provides wiggle room for a lot of interpretations. not that i can blame you for not being too invested in her, considering we've never actually seen her, and only hear about from a few sources (venti, who doens't really say much, and childe + arle who also technically dont say much in the grand scheme of things but understanding their characters to see how it changes their view of the tsaritsa and where it overlaps is a good chunk of it)

so its my job to do what hoyo doesn't and hype the hell out of her /j. ive been writing her since i joined sagau around when it first started snowballing into popularity i dont think i could leave if i tried
