the thing about harvey is that (almost by default tbh) I consider him one of, if not the most compelling of batman's rogues. it's less about what canon does with him (it's a mixed bag, ime), and more about the potential he has because he can change, for the worse or for the better. recently I read batman chronicles #16 (part of no man's land), and the first story in that one has me thinking a bit about it.

that's what I mean when I say out of those old*-man-villains (*not old, just comics-old), I'd ship him with my favourite above the rest: they bore me, and he doesn't. the fact that they share a backstory (two-face was a person of interest in willis todd's death) makes it more interesting.

the capacity to change for the better, or at least attempt to even if he fails, is key to me because with jason as he is, in his new earth incarnation (aka the one I write about)... I almost exclusively ship him with characters in the heroic spectrum. it offers a better contrast -not because I think of him as an outright villain lol, but because he has that ~edge that means it's more entertaining to me this way. I get a lot from these ships, because it can breed conflict and because it allows the other character a sense of freedom that can be fun with more reined-in types.

so like, if I were to do something with the ship, it'd be in a period where harvey is clinging as hard as he can to sanity, trying to stay on the side of the angels. I'd say during the one-year-gap after utrh, but I would NOT include the surgery. his face is staying as it is and he has to untangle that on his own, okay? plus jason would legitimately not give a fuck about the scars and I that would be huge for harvey.

so basically yeah, I'd be interested in a story where both are trying to do good in gotham, finding their own ways to do it that have nothing to do with batman. there would be a lot of endless philosophical arguments. willis would come up (harvey likely doesn't even remember the guy). that's where my interest rests.

On my platonic yandere Batfam bullshit again thinking about, like, deliberately dramatic scenarios because I crave emotional tension

-imagine if Bruce gets called in to regressed!Reader's school because you got in a fist fight with another kid, and this kid is the son of one of his prominent business partners and Bruce, uh, doesn't immediately believe you when you state for him and the principal why you got into a fight because, hey he knows that boy, he isn't THAT bad! And Bruce scolds you and makes you apologize and even grounds you once you two are in the car alone and you're just noticeably extremely angry and quiet to the point you won't even come out of your room for dinner. And after some time has passed, days even, a couple members of the fam are in a room together with you and someone cracks a joke about you losing your temper over a misunderstanding and you just, stare directly at them as you pull out your phone, press play on a video, and walk away as they watch where you had been trying to take a photo of something like idk a flower or the weather and began accidentally filming after Selina helped dropped you off at school and the footage caught the boy outright calling her a slut for what she was wearing

And of course Bruce is upset because that kid insulted Catwoman and also got some swings back at you (he's probably proud to a certain degree that you defended Selina and shes absolutely delighted when she hears about it) but he asks "well why didn't you tell me you had proof im the first place" and you just spit at him "oh so I need PROOF for you to BELIEVE ME?" And extra bonus points if Reader has their old memories back and hits him with "after everything you've done to me, I finally ask for your help and ACTUALLY needed you this ONE TIME and you couldn't even believe me? Wow, my hero 🙄" so now he knows he's broken your heart AND you're back to the "old you" that he wants to, father all the depression and trauma out of

-since Dick, Barbara, and Reader would all be going to a prestigious school I think of like, what if your class got kidnapped for ransom while on a field trip. And Robin and Batgirl look over to you thinking you're going to panic and freak out but you're suspiciously calm, or, calmer than the anxiety stricken adopted 'sibling' they've had this whole time, and maybe despite being kidnapped by like, idk, Babyface or Black Mask or Two Face, and maybe you even just outright insult them and it becomes horribly obvious to them "oh not only do you have your memories back, they've unintentionally turned you into an explosive powder keg of repressed anger and frustration because they betrayed what little trust you had left"

You just look at Two Face and start fucking with him, this criminal looking down as a teenager starts roasting him way too casually and maybe with facts you shouldn't even know, things you remember from your time as a hero before. "Hey Harvey, what's hanging, it's been a while. Hey can I ask a question? You ever think about just outright asking someone like I dunno Bruce Wayne to fix that fucked up meat gristle face of yours? Like, I'm sure having half your body resemble the same consistency of a breakfast sausage has its uses in intimidation, but, like, I'm sure if you just walked up to Batman and said 'hey if you make me look less like a rotisserie chicken I'll quit crime' and he would probably just like, HAND the money for the sugery to you, like, do you think Batmobile money falls out of the sky, he's clearly fucking loaded"

And of course the follow up/alternative of "the stress triggers Reader's metagene or old memories or both and you just start whooping ass unapologetically and Barb and Dick are sweating because they're trying not to break incognito but like you're significantly hurting these dudes, you're clearly really angry and upset and taking it out on them" and tbh I imagine Batman already has contingencies for this possibility. He shows up in costume and Two Face has already fled but you're standing there in your preppy school uniform now dirty and torn, blood on your knuckles, about to beat a man unconscious while your classmates either cower or cheer or fear you. If Reader has some sort of magic, then he just has to get Nth metal from Hawkgirl or Hawkman, maybe he'll make it a cute bracelet, just a nice gift from Dad. Bodily autonomy to use your own powers and be an adult again, what's that? He's disappointed in you for caving into the darkness and also? you're grounded >:(

-Reader becoming a mugging/gun violence victim and now you're never allowed to leave the manor, period. I can only imagine like the projection of trauma from Bruce if, after losing his parents, he has to watch you weak and recovering from a gunshot, wheezing in bed struggling to breathe properly because a bullet went through one of your lungs. You're put in a total bubble to recover in absolute peace and sterility, but, even far after you've recovered, your "guardian" is still convinced someone will leap out of the bushes to hurt you, so, no leaving the manor unless he's with you. Like. Imagine him being so scared he doesn't even want to trust your safety with the other Batfamily members, and maybe he even cracks down on several of the other younger members because he doesn't want them to get shot too (also like, resulting trauma and overprotectiveness if one or multiple of them saw you get shot and are like, still fucked up over having to apply pressure to your bullet wound as your warm blood leaks all over their fingers and they can't do anything to stop you and-- like do you see how that would send some of them into borderline psychosis when theyve already got So Many Many Issues)

-all of them try to exert control over what you're exposed to and consume in terms of entertainment. You have spyware on your phone and any member of the Batfam who can use the Batcomputer can see your past and current browsing history and I will die on this hill. Bruce and Alfred are rigorous in making sure you don't ruin your mental health. Like you know how I talked about "what if you had a yandere that was in tech and he gave you a phone that he occasionally spies on and remotely disables if he thinks you're spending too much time on it/seeing something you shouldnt"? Bruh that's like half of the Manor, Bruce especially. He has to "make sure nothing bad happens to you". All it can take is 'one bad day', after all...

-obsessed with the idea of them getting jealous of you spending time with other alternate universe versions of themselves, in concepts where Reader is a JL member/vigilante and has the power/tech to multiverse travel anyways. Batman hasn't seen you in a couple weeks and, actually maybe he's a little concerned about you, you've kind of just vanished off the face of the earth, and he bumps into you on a Gotham rooftop with. Another Batman, and getting along much better and being more casual and friendly with the stranger than with him. Broody fucking "I am darkness, I am the night, I am vengeance" Bruce catching you like. smoking weed on his couch with the hilariously weird version of him from the Harley Quinn cartoon universe and God forbid if anyone shows signs of having feelings for you

(also could you imagine how ballistic he and or Jason would go if they caught you hanging out with, you know, one of the super violent "murder is ok" Jasons/Batmans and you tell them straight up "actually I agree with what he's doing, I want to help him, in fact maybe I'll work with HIM now instead of you" like, y'all, I think Batman would permanently never let you work as a hero or sidekick ever again because he's genuinely worried you'll fall down the slippery slope and make a mistake that ruins your life. Like depending on the depiction of Batman you're looking at, some of them admit straight up that they don't kill Joker because they know they're legitimately filled with so much anger and hatred that if they kill even one person, that'll break the barrier to killing tons of criminals outright and they won't be able to stop)

-all I'm saying is that if they ever caught you like being cordial or mildly friendly with an alternate universe version of a villain, no matter how good they are, they shut that shit down immediately. You get invited to smoke weed at a friend's and suddenly Batman is in the house and suddenly everyone's parents are there to pick up their kids as he lectures about the dangers of drugs and now absolutely NO ONE from school wants anything to do with you "because what if Batman shows up and gets us in trouble"

-I feel like, as one of those vaguely morally gray areas, that Bruce would make you take medication and get treatment for, like, really anything that needs it, but more specifically anxiety and depression and just overall psychological issues. And as a dark twist what if you aren't really naturally anxious and don't even have an anxiety disorder or anything but he puts you on pills to mellow you out because you're freaking out at him for completely valid and understandable reasons like, you know, being confined in his home against your will. "What, you aren't mad about being kidnapped and controlled and lied to, you clearly just have pre existing emotional issues that keep you from reacting properly, but don't worry I'm here to help" 🙄🙄🙄

Alex: Chandlo

Alex is way to misogynistic to be chandlo, but this can be fixed through editing the dialogue.

Abigail: Liz

Abigail feels a bit too young for Liz to take her place, but other than that I feel she fits pretty well.

Elliot: Wiggle

I was originally gonna make Wiggle take Sam’s place, but this feels a bit more fitting, with the whole writers block thing and all. (Also I'm halfway done with her sprites and I don't want to redo them lol)

Emily: Shelda

Shelda and Beffica would still live in the same house. They’re not blood relatives, but Beffica sees her as a grandmother figure :0)

Haley: Beffica

It fits perfectly and you can’t convince me otherwise. They even share a love for photography!

Harvey: Eggabell

Again, fits pretty well. Apart from the whole pilot thing from Harvey’s storyline but oh well.

Heeseung is a miner 100%. Screams whenever he's fighting a monster and "dies" constantly, but he's a miner. He doesn't delve much into the story of the valley, he just wants money. He also constantly forgets to bring food with him to the mines so he just kinda... passes out. A lot. He's the sole reason why Harvey is still in business. He's the type to go for Abigail or Emily. But I feel like his goal would be to date as many villagers as possible without you noticing.

Jay likes fishing, no matter how frustrating it is in the beginning. He's really good at remembering the villager's birthdays and has a specific chest with their favorites. I can see him really liking Penny for some reason, though he would prefer to marry you instead of her. He's good at saving your money and only gets a little mad when you impulse buy the tree of the winter star.

Jake loves the game. He really likes taking care of all the farm animals, but he Hates going in the mines. That's your job, sorry. He's probably friends with Alex tbh, and he might try to date Haley if not you. He loves the island, he and Leo are best friends. He tries to find all the golden walnuts and he's actually really good at it???

Sunghoon doesn't like the game very much tbh. He plays it with you because you find it fun and he likes seeing you happy. His foraging skill is really high and he goes fishing a not. Sometimes he'll go into the mines, but he prefers not to. He always reminds you to go out and get seeds when the crops are harvested.

Sunoo is confused by the game at first, but ends up loving it. He's best friends will all of the villagers and knows All the lore. He's really good at remembering the villagers favorite gifts. He and Elliot are best friends, along with Jas and Vincent. I can see him marrying Shane tbh bc he gives me "I can fix him" energy. He tries making his farm cute... but it's not very functional.

Jungwon loves the game, he loves farming and tending to the animals. He and Caroline are good friends, and he doesn't really like Pierre or Clint. He doesn't really have any goals in the game, he just likes playing for fun. I'm not gonna lie though, he often forgets to feed the animals or pet them so Please make sure you either remind him or do it for him.

Ni-Ki's main goal is to 100% the game, but he gets bored easily and won't play the game for months, then restarts a different world. It's a surprise if he even makes it to winter of year one. There was a time that you tried gifting him the diamond ring to marry him, but he said no and ran away. For the next in-game week, he kept running away from you and even gifted you trash. Also blew up your crops more than once. Love him tho.

A3: Do they have any emotional or psychological conditions? Are they aware of it? Do they try to treat it? 

i havent officially diagnosed him with anything but really just the average of what you'd expect from a guy revived from the brink of death then kept captive for like 30 years. he's depressed and pretty intensely hypervigilant. his social skills leave much to be desired and he has relatively severe memory loss issues. lobotomy victim. overall he's just extremely disoriented now that he's existing in greater society once again, which is partially due to his disorders but also to be completely expected with circumstances like that. he doesnt know what's going on really or how to fix it, he just would like it to finally stop.

A4: Are they a pessimist or an optimist? 

In his youth he was certainly an optimist. it's one of the things harvey looked up to him for. even after his resurrection i think he was at least Grateful, for an amount of time, that he was given a second chance. he's really been through the wringer tho LOL idk if he has much faith in humanity doing the right thing, even if it Sounds like the right thing at face value cough cough

A17: What’s one of your OC’s proudest moments of themselves?

he was proud of himself for finally completing his military training and makin it to the real deal!! that didnt last very long!!

B7: How do they respond to babies crying in public?

it activates the suddenly-easily-agitated switch in his brain and he has to walk away before he ends up questioning his desires to be injure infant children.

B13: Do they have a large or small group of friends?

he was quite popular in his youth, but he doesn't really have friends now though at all unless you want to count faust trying really hard to be his 'bestie'. He was somewhat social when he was at the facility on a good day, but there weren't many good days.

C1: Does your OC have a moral code? If not, how do they base their actions? If so, where does it come from, and how seriously do they take it?

he's pretty much just been living in survival mode, not necessarily by any strong moral code. he believes in helping his peers whenever he can but thats really the only thing he's certain about. the political climate is completely different from when he was 20 vs when he was in the facility vs now so he doesn't really feel he's got enough backstory to determine who's in the right/wrong. his moral code never ran very deep in the first place, it pretty much exclusively consisted of like. protect/help others. be a nice person. he never felt any reason to make it more complex than that, thats why he joined the military <3

C4: Do they consider themselves superior or more important than anyone else? Lesser?

i think that he's well aware that his general aptitude is lower than that of the average Region Zero citizen (maybe not as low he believes tbh) because of all his lost years, so in that way he feels lesser. I don't think he sees himself as being any more/less deserving than the next guy tho. faust kinda treats him that way at times but raymond just thinks hes weird LOL

D3: How comfortable are they with the idea of death?

he would love to finally die LOL he's near 100% comfortable with it and is deeply troubled by the fact that he couldve died relatively painlessly several times, but now he gets to just continue living in more and more pain instead because someone decades ago decided that more population = more prosperity

E1: Would you say that your OC is intelligent? In what ways? Would your OC agree?

he's not highly intelligent but he's certainly not stupid. just average. i think his kindness (give or take a few lashing-out's) and willingness to cooperate certainly outshine his smarts. he's quite ignorant of anything to have happened in the last 25 years (can't blame him) and even before everything happened he was quite simple-minded but certainly intelligent in an interpersonal way... kinda refreshing in a place like this LOL. i think he'd claim he's dumber than he actually is.

E8: What’s one of your OC’s biggest regrets?

I think he'll come to regret working with faust, just because he doesnt want to be part of a whole sabotage scheme (nonetheless one against his own sister, as soon as he gets released from 25 years locked up). he really doesn't even want to see her again in this state, it'd be too complicated and tragic. but alas.

F1: What sort of home do they live in now, if at all? How did they end up there?

he's living in the office with Faust LOLLL there's a guest bedroom. Faust asked him back to the capital after he 'liberated' the handful of people left at the facility, but kinda just struck him a deal to stay indefinitely. he of course has nowhere else to go, so he decided he would stay. itd be 'an honor to have him as a spokesperson for survivors of region zero's mad science' or something, whatever faust said.

F7: What’s their “dream career” or job situation?

tbh idk if he has one LOL he'd be fine even just being in the military again, or a cashier or something. he just wants a normal life by region zero standards.

F11: What are some of their favorite things to do for recreation? How did they get into it? What part of it do they like the most?

i dont think he has a ton of hobbies at the ripe age of 45 LOL i bet he'd enjoy a good crossword or something though, or something else mildly mentally stimulating. he's probably read the same few books 10 times each due to the limited material in the facility for all those years. he'd probably be happy to read something new finally.

G1: Is your OC close to their family?

He was pretty close before all the facility stuff, but obviously not anymore. He had a pretty standard relationship with his parents and never caused much trouble, but the relationship was a little weird only since they were relying on him a bit for money. they never asked him to do that tho. he was basically harvey's best friend and role model. he'd still visit them often after he joined the military. everyone looks back upon those times fondly.

G2: Who makes up your OC’s family, at least the more important members to them?

well his mom and dad are dead (i think he'd already assumed this) so really all that's left is harvey, and she's estranged due to the circumstances. she's still important to him once he figures out she'd still alive, but of course the situation is quite compromised. if this is you asking if he has any children due to the Milking....well maybe.

H8: What’s your OC’s idea of a perfect date?

I DONT THINK HES V PICKY LOLLL. A NICE MEAL AND A MOVIE PERHAPS.

I6: Could they eat the same thing they enjoy over and over and not get bored of it quickly?

He's learned to over time, since that's pretty much the meal situation in the facility. he does get bored of it quicker than he'd prefer tho </3

unaware as Hell right now but he's about to learn everything that's happened in the past 25 years in 10 minutes faust-style <3 he didnt even know who the damn president was!!!

L2: What do you consider the biggest themes in your character, if any?

another one i havent thought about much, but as im typing this i guess im thinking about the irony of his Faust Parallels. Guy who wants to live but is dying against all odds vs guy who wants to die but is living against all odds. guy who has a dead sister he couldnt be there for bcz of his own foolishness vs guy with a somehow alive sister he couldn't be there for (still a fool) etc etc. you get what im sayin?

I feel weird about Nandor's behaviour, like it's such a regression? I know being thoughtlessly cruel is his whole brand but I feel like since the beginning of s4 he's been shown to be more attentive to Guillermo (I even told myself he's growing from being a dumb asshole into just a dumbass). But yeah ep 9 reverted all that, which is very disappointing. And tbh I don't think this Nandor deserves Guillermo at all, which Idk how to feel about ;(

It's funny. I've seen a lot of people saying this about Nandor, but he actually felt fairly on-brand for me. He did something horrific, but didn't realize that it was. Like I think he genuinely wasn't trying to hurt Guillermo, didn't realize he was, and when he figured it out, he tried (ineffectively) to fix it. If anything, I think he was just written as too dumb in this episode. That might be the real issue here.

I think the disconnect here is that this feels uniquely awful to the audience and to Guillermo. It just doesn't feel that way to Nandor. And I think that's the only reason why it doesn't totally ruin his character for me. It feels more like when he gave that glitter portrait to Guillermo, you know? We as the audience know that Guillermo was devastated and we were kind of devastated for him, but Nandor thought he was being a nice guy the whole time. He didn't understand how forgetting how long Guillermo had been there or making him think he'd get turned was cruelty.

I think the thing is that Freddie, like Marwa, was just a shiny to Nandor. I think Guillermo realized that, which is why he was so clear that this was his first and only boyfriend. This isn't like Marwa to him. Freddie was important. But I'm not sure that's something that Nandor could fully understand, even after Guillermo explained it to him. I think Guillermo might be the only person he's ever loved like that, so Guillermo putting it into terms of dating (so he thinks "like Marwa", so he thinks "collect them all, like wives") instead of truly losing someone you care about still just didn't get through Nandor's thick skull.

So him manipulating Freddie didn't feel any different than repeatedly changing Marwa to him. He never conceptualized it as taking anything from Guillermo because he didn't understand that the physical person wasn't the issue, it was the relationship they had built up together. (Fully hammered home by him then trying to give his own Freddie to Guillermo like a replacement goldfish.)

When Guillermo was sad, suddenly having this new shiny wasn't fun anymore and he sent him on his way -- with lots of crocodile tears of course. He still didn't even get why he did it.

To me, Nandor's actions didn't feel that odd to me. What felt much weirder was the way the writers approached this. It wasn't Nandor's cruelty that I found off-putting; it was the writers'. It was the meanest thing they've ever done in the show by far, and I can see why it crossed a personal line for so many viewers. Like that last scene! Guillermo going all the way to London to try and win his boyfriend back, only to see him cheating on him with his fucking clone. That was the writers' decision, not Nandor's. And an episode ending with Guillermo's genuine and shattering heartbreak was just a bridge too far for a lot of viewers. I get that.

(Side note: Harvey has been given some shit scripts this season but boy is he acting the hell out of them.)

Moreover, the way that the writers also didn't seem to realize that what was happening to Marwa was fucked up alarmed me a lot more than Nandor not realizing it.

Nandor is dumb and selfish and his dumbness makes him cruel. Okay. I get that. But what's the writers' excuse for all this? Why did they think we'd want to see this or find it funny? Why didn't they realize the implications of what they were doing? That's what I find more troubling in the long run...

As for Nandor "deserving" Guillermo... I mean, he's always been a dick who didn't deserve good things. Guillermo is also a terrible person who doesn't deserve good things. I think Guillermo might actually be the cruelest person on the show, and I stand by that. Like say what you will about Nandor, he never purposefully infiltrated "loser" spaces and made lonely people think they'd finally found a friend just so he could murder them and make fun of how nerdy they were to camera right after. Guillermo is so fucking mean! I wouldn't be surprised if he even made some people think they might be losing that virginity of theirs when he brought them home. Like why else would he be asking about it!

Guillermo is outwardly sweet, but he can be very selfish and cruel, just like Nandor. I think we forget that sometimes because he's so kind to the vampires. Really, though, I actually think they deserve each other. lmao. Nandor is Guillermo's karma for how awful he is to other people. (And really, I think Freddie would have picked up on that eventually... and I still think that would've been a much more interesting direction to take things...)

The Riddler: You had thought he wouldn't notice your bad mood. You discovered that to be wrong very suddenly. He was passing by when, without warning, Edward elbowed you hard forcing you into an empty room. The door shut behind him. "Stop moping! What is it so I can fix it and focus on my plans!" It was a huff yet also a whine. You explained your stance. That you could sort it yourself. Edward wasn't letting it go. You can't have secrets! He's the one with secrets! Dark devastating secrets! There can't be something he doesn't know about you! That's not how it works! That's not fair! Who cares if it isn't fair for you! It's unfair for him and that's what's important! Best get it out the way and tell him tbh because he won't leave it alone.

Two-Face: Hey, none of that now. You're problems are now his. Besides all of his problems end up being worse so its the least he could do. However he also is wary that you might not be ready to talk about it. So he will try to get even a smile off you just to i directly remind you he has your back. "Need me to kick someone's ass?" Harvey began. "We could kick Nygma's ass if that gets a smile." Harv' finished. "Ha. Ha." The Riddler sneered icily. "I'm not kidding." Harvey deadpanned. "I'll do it. He needs a good ass kicking." Harvey nodded to you, pointing at the Riddler.

Scarecrow: Listen, he's not in practice with this whole thing. He wants to know what's wrong but he also knows people dont appreciate a blunt confrontation. He wanted you to realise he supports you and wants to know whats going on with you. However he didn't know how to show that. So he did what came natural. He picked a tomato out of his lunch and threw it at you. You jumped as it bounced off your cheek. "What was that for?" You frowned. "You seemed sad." Jonathan mockingly pouted. It was enough to get a chuckle out of you as you tossed the tomato back. "Good, I was looking for that smile. Now, if you'd like to talk about what's bothering you? I'm quite eager to know and not fond of the idea of you keeping things to yourself. I didn't have the choice but to keep it to myself. I won't let you go down the same path when I'm right here."

Mad Hatter: Oh, like a secret!? In his eyes, maybe you just needed a nudge, reassurance. Jervis could do that! "I can give you one of my deepest secrets in exchange for your problems?" Jervis offered. "It's a good one too." You nodded, caving at the idea of what this secret could possibly be. "I don't trust M&M's and Skittles. I can't tell them apart and M&M's have peanuts in them." Jervis grimaced. "Yuck. Furthermore, skittles are too sweet." You smiled slightly. That sounded like Jervis. "You have to keep that a secret. I can't have the others knowing my darkest secrets." Jervis took your hand. "If you hold onto that for me then maybe I could hold onto your secret for you?"

Poorly describing my versions of the Gotham rogues:

Joker: “yolo” in its most dangerous form, def is writing a slow burn enemies to loves fic about him and Batman. Gay and homophobic 💯 The other rogues don’t invite him to pride celebrations anymore cause he’ll keep calling people slurs “as a joke”. Him and Edward have longterm beef, like schoolgirl levels of petty drama.

Harley Quinn: would describe herself as a “girlboss” unironically while committing heinous crimes. tweeted “clowns aren’t funny” after breaking up with Joker (ended up causing a huge scandal). The OG “I can fix him” girl. Is sort of the rogues free underground therapist (god knows they need it) cause they can’t get professional help without being sent to Arkham.

Poison Ivy: Breaking News: Cottagecore lesbian commits mass murder cause her plant wilted. She’s what republicans think environmentalists are. Would get in a fist fight with that vegan teacher cause “plants have feelings too”. Has beef with most of the male rogues, supports ‘kill all men’ without realizing it’s a joke (she prefers ‘kill all humans’ but figured she had to downgrade because the Gotham city sirens are humans technically).

Cat Woman: “OH NO! It appears I’ve gotten stuck backwards in the bank vault step-Bat 😏😏😏😏😏😏, looks like I’m not stealing any more diamonds today 😰😩”. Mad respect for Selina, she just wants diamonds and bat dick, no tragic backstory or complex motivations needed. I personally like to headcanon her as wearing a straight up cat costume (ears and a tail like a true furry) cause it’s way funnier to imagine a sophisticated rich woman dressing up as a cat to steal shit than whatever bullshit DCs up to these days. Trans catgirl supremacy 💎👍

Scarecrow: That one guy who gets angry at people because “Halloween costumes are meant to be scary 🤬😡😑😒”. Doesn’t even attempt to express emotions, is the human embodiement of this emoji: 😐. His presence is more jarring than threatening, his intimidation levels are somehow underwhelming and overwhelming at the same time. The other rogues have collectively decided that he’s asexual under no assumption other than that they don’t want to imagine Jonathan having sex. Overtime Jonathan has become basically fearless (he smokes his own fear gas like vape just to feel something). Jonathan and Harley became good friends when they both worked in Arkham, their dynamic is surprisingly wholesome.

The Riddler: Didn’t get hugged enough as a child and is now making it everyone’s problem. Would hold a bank hostage to show Batman his third grade spelling bee medal. Is the only autistic rogue that gets accommodations in Arkham because he won’t stop bugging the guards. FTM trans ofc (his names Edward Nygma for Christ's sake). He ran away from home at seventeen and faked his own death (his deadname is legally dead lmao). Uses the terms “alpha, beta, and omega male” unironically.

Two Face: “Yeah, I mean, I didn’t wanna blow up the orphanage either, but Y’know the coin said-” The other rogues talk to Harvey as if he’s constantly at his breaking point, which is half true. Harv is a stone cold mf, he’s the rock that’s holding Two Face together tbh. Edward calls Harvey and Harv Jekyll and Hyde cause he’s that original. All the rogues have at least a sneaking suspicion that Bruce Wayne is batman and use Harvey as their little primary source (being ex besties and everything), until they find out Selina and Bruce are a thing of course. No matter how much evidence he’s faced with Harvey will never accept Bruce Wayne is batmam, he’s not ready to consider that one of the only positive people in his life has been duking it out with him this whole time.

Penguin: He’s the rest of the rogues chill gay gangster uncle I don’t make the rules. The iceberg lounge is like the Batman villain equivalent of The Central Perk from friends (aka: its their default place to hangout). Oswald always makes a fuss about them not making reservations ahead of them but at this point it’s just performative. Everyone’s 99% sure Oswald and Edward fucked at some point (Edward always makes a show of flustering Oswald when he needs a loan). Ossie always takes care of the others belongings when they’re in Arkham (he has a special place in his heart for Jonathan‘s crows).

The Mad Hatter: I love Jervis lmao he just really likes Alice in Wonderland and that’s a valid ass villain motivation 👍. One of the smartest rogues but doesn’t get enough credit because of how childish he is. He dresses in kids clothes, not just because he wants to but because he’s small af and can’t fit in shit. In public while the rogues are undercover Jervis usually wears a beanie or a baseball cap (he’d get spotted instantly if he wore his usual, but on bad days Jervis can’t bear to be without a hat). Jonathan and Jervis play chess a lot together in Arkham, and frequently engage in intellectual discussion, Edward tends to be a piss baby when Jon encourages him to do the same, he’s not ready to accept the reality that Jervis can match his intelligence.

Killer Croc: Waylon has a surprising amount in common with Jonathan, they share southern solidarity. He doesn’t travel out of the sewer often so the rogues will occasionally come to visit Waylon there (Edward always makes sure to complain loudly about the smell). Will show immense affection and loyalty to anyone who treats him as human (poor guy just needs a friend ☹️).

Mr Freeze: Literally just dead inside, someone give this poor bastard a hug. Victor stands as the most awkward rogue, he‘s sorta like the odd one out. The other rogues don’t interact with him that often because he’s sort of a party pooper. He’s the straight friend on thin ice, haha get it. Mr Freeze is my sisters favorite Batman villain because she thought the ice puns were funny in Batman in Robin, little does she know I’m embarrassing myself on tumblr in her glory.

Music Meister: So many of the Gotham rogues have horrible childhood trauma and Music Meister is just like “people bullied me for being a theater kid 😩😭💔😔”. In all honesty he’s iconic, in my au universe thingy I have him join the dork squad latter on and he sticks out like a sore thumb for a bit. I feel like him and Jervis would really hit it off though (mind control buddies, ha), although Jervis would always get him to sing Alice in Wonderland songs. In Arkham they have him wear a dog collar thingy and zap him when he sings, he gets bullied for that lol. anyways I’m sure I could make more of these, but it’s 2:20 am and my mind went blank. If y’all liked this I could always put more au headcanons out (I have A LOT)

Rn, in my save, I went STRAIGHT for Shane - depressed and suicidal? Me too the fuck. But then I started to play more and damn. Harvey. 😭 He would take care of me. But he’s a little older and kinda reminds me too much of my in-sys husband?

Yeah, umbrellas didn't help at all because it really did rain THAT heavily and also there was deep puddles everywhere so even if you ran on your tiptoes your shoes would get completely soaking wet haha! Yeah ohhh boy yeah Bruce has such massive trust issues no way he'd just accept TwoFace reforming, Harvey yes more likely because of their shared past/because he wants his friend back but to Bruce TwoFace probably would be the guy that took away his best friend and turned him into a criminal/murderer (would Bruce be emotionally mature enough to realize it was also in part Harvey's own decision to become a rogue? kinda doubt he would. Or if he did he'd probably ignore it in favor of having things go back to how they used to be), and he might just blame all of Harvey's faults on him, too. Tbh I think the storylines where Bruce counteracts a rogue's reforming intentionally or unintentionally because of his doubts and trust issues are really interesting and really sad, because you have the rogue in question actually going through development or even actively trying to get better and you can almost see the light at the end of the tunnel only for it all to get ruined and reset to point zero (or made even worse) not bc of the rogue themselves but bc of Bruce - and not out of malice either, that's the tragedy of it! he wants them to get better! but bc oh yeah right Bruce is someone struggling with massive trauma, trust issues, paranoia and other mental illnesses and cases like that are a stark reminder that oh right he's not doing great and needs to go to therapy and heal himself before he truly can help others heal, too. Hmmm those plot lines are just so. Ough. (Which is why I'd personally incorporate those into some of the rogues storylines that imo would be fun, idk if you remember when I told you about those since it was a few weeks ago ahah) but yeah you're also right Steph being there could help probably since she's got more hmm first hand experience with stuff like that due to her father being. like that. and all, and thus has more related issues.)

literally. i've since been informed that in btas he tries to approach twoface with kindness initially which is extremely cool of him but he'll end up having his faith unrewarded SO many times and at the end of the day he's not actively trying to heal himself he's trying to live that vicariously through others which is something he needs to work on (and i want him to work on it because i love him!! but he's doomed to fail if he doesn't!!) and because of his unresolved issues there's a lot of flaws in his plan to fucking... fix people. especially twoface. because bruce needs to be vulnerable w him in order to foster trust and belief but he's BEEN vulnerable and it's backfired so he's not gonna!! no sir!! basically ur so right that he needs to work on himself as well as others to be effective <3 and it IS a cool storyline to work into the rogues ones (i PROMISE i'll get to that ask you sent ages ago it's in the back of my mind it just might be a while bc of exams)

also i'm choosing steph specifically because she's 1) harvey's foil in that she's cass!batman's harvey figures except they actually communicate and share parts of themselves so it's like what harvey COULD have been (an outsider who's there to catch batman and be a home for whoever is batman at that time) 2) she's living her fantasy of her dad reforming vicariously through harvey <3 i love steph sm and i love nuance and flaws as well <3 she is doomed to fail <3

Sabrina is pretty accurate to the decision making skills of a lot of 16 year olds tbh and holy shit all of that happened in one year??

First, yes, it’s crazy that all of these things happen over the course of a single year. It’s almost unbelievable. I honestly wish they hadn’t packed so many plots into just four parts, because it makes the whole show seem ridiculously oversaturated.

But when you say “Sabrina is pretty accurate to the decision making skills of a lot of 16 year olds,” I don’t know if I agee with you, nonnie. Maybe I was just a goody two shoes who feared punishment so extremely I very rarely got into trouble, but I was never making the same level of reckless decisions Sabrina does. Which isn’t to say my experience is universal—teenagers’ brains aren’t fully developed, so of course they’re going to make poor decisions—it’s just that I take umbrage at the idea that Sabrina’s exceptionally reckless behavior should be excused or played down just because she’s a teenager.

For sure, when I was a teenager, I made decisions that had serious consequences. I wasn’t a “perfect” girl by any stretch of the imagination, but I sure as hell was never so narcissistic and reckless with other people’s lives as Sabrina is.

My issue is that the consequences of Sabrina’s choices were largely suffered by her friends and family. Sabrina doesn’t own her mistakes; she tries to fix them before other people find out, and by so doing, only succeeds in making everything worse. She is constantly trying to get away with things she knows her aunts would stop her from doing, which is why she never tells them or asks for their help, even after Zelda looks shocked that Sabrina would assume her aunties wouldn’t help her contact her mother.

Speaking of Zelda, she is constantly begging Blackwood in Parts 1 and 2 to let Sabrina off the hook. The first meaningful interaction they have alone together, Zelda offers him sex in exchange for Sabrina’s innocence. Which was Zelda’s choice, to be sure, and isn’t Sabrina’s fault, but it directly relates to Sabrina not understanding the consequences of running away from her Dark Baptism and humiliating Zelda in front of the entire coven.

The Tommy Kinkle plot line, I thought, was meant to have Sabrina finally take responsibility for her actions, but in the end, she just... doesn’t? Sabrina expects Harvey to forgive her by the Midwinter’s Tale episode, which is just baffling to me. You’d think that her crying on the stairs would’ve been a moment of reckoning, but it wasn’t. She continues to think that the ends justify the means, and that as long as she has good intentions, the carnage she leaves in her wake isn’t important.

In Part Two Sabrina runs for the position of Top Boy when she has very little connection to the Academy at that point. She fought tooth and nail to have “dual” citizenship, and to not be forced into going to this school, and all of the sudden she thinks she ought to be a leader there? Seriously? She thinks she deserves to be recognized by the same peers she’d literally run from? Talk about entitlement. Same with being a cheerleader—she feels entitled to the position of lead cheerleader when she only just joined the team and frequently misses practice...?

Not to mention, in the process of proving herself as a candidate for Top Boy, she summons the Kings of Hell in the middle of the church, endangering the lives of everyone there, intending to “prove” Blackwood was guilty, when she had no proof at all that he was! So she put everyone in danger on a hunch.

If I were to name every example, we’d be here all day, but let’s fast-forward to: Sabrina literally creates a time paradox so she can “have it all,” and when Ambrose tells her that there will be dire consequences for it, she just brushes him off. She doesn’t care about consequences.

Sabrina manipulates her friends into hanging out with her with the Bloody Mary plot. She would rather terrify them and make them think they’re in danger than just ask them to hang out with her.

She’s incapable of being alone; she’s incapable of not being the center of attention; she’s incapable of realizing that other people’s lives don’t revolve around her.

If we want to argue she’s just being a teenager, that would assume all teenagers are narcissistic little shits who only care about themselves—which, sure, plenty of them are. I’m not denying there’s an element of her behavior that can be blamed on her being so young. But I personally think Sabrina’s behavior is so extremely divorced from reality, it’s hard to argue that any of what she does can solely be blamed on being 16.

TL;DR — Sabrina is a narcissist. She doesn’t take responsibility for her actions. She lies and manipulates people to get her way. She’ll do anything (including but not limited to tying up and gagging her “favorite” teacher and leaving her to die), to get what she wants.

Most teenagers have a sense of what’s wrong and what’s right by age 16, while Sabrina sees the world as what’s wrong for her and right for her.

arlo was born and raised in the cut from the moment he popped out of his momma and started swimming circles 'round the little inflatable pool in their trailer’s living room. coston is home and there’s really no place arlo has ever wanted to be. cut him open and he bleeds saltwater; take him too far away from the coast and he’ll turn to stone. or something like that. it doesn’t really matter; he’d never willingly leave. what was once bright & shiny potential, described by his elementary school teacher’s as “quite the handful, but delightfully brilliant” has evolved (devolved?) into what can only be described in the words of his ninth grade gym teacher as “a menace, a dismal waste of youth, goin’ nowhere just like his damn pa,”; a prophecy, perhaps, as it was filled just one year later when arlo finally got fed up with a kook upperclassmen and nearly broke his jaw (but definitely dislocated it). he walked off campus that day and didn’t bother coming back. strong, willing to shut up and just work, he found a construction crew and started making money instead of making grades.  no one knows where the money goes. all his socks have holes in them and he’s worn the same hoodie for three years now. he’s got a decent collection of boards to combat whatever the tide throws at him but the majority of his earnings seem to just disappear into thin air and no amount of questioning in regard to the amount he must have saved up seems to shake him. he might be an honest guy, but that’s not to say he’s always forthright with information he thinks is better off left unsaid.
