EXPRESS COMING THROUGH!
Here he is, the babygirl himself! Out of all the designs I've made for SS so far, he's one of my favorites. I mean just look at him...he's perfect. What a majestic idiot.
Lore Time!
-Scotsman had hosted a Gresley family reunion including himself, Ryan, Spencer, Gordon, and Mallard to catch up with everyone. Coincidentally, Topham and his family were going on holiday that same week, so they went to the Mainland together.
-Fast forward to the end of their holiday, and they struggle to get back home. Sir Topham Hatt had received numerous phone calls and letters from Sodor mentioning the engines, but they didn't specifically say what was wrong with them. It wasn't until the calls and letters suddenly stopped did they decide to cut their holiday short to return home. Even more concerning was the fact that all trains to Sodor were cancelled until further notice. It was a nightmare just to get Gordon permission to travel to the island.
-Once the train was ready, Gordon had a small chat with Ryan before his departure. Ryan had always wanted to visit Sodor, and Gordon had always wanted to show him around the island (or at least the parts where the two of them can travel together). Gordon reassures his tiny brother that once this whole mess is cleared up, they'll see if they could schedule for the arrangement. Shortly thereafter, Gordon was off to Sodor...and was never seen by his relatives again.
-When Gordon arrived at Vicarstown, the whole station was abandoned. Windows and doors were boarded up, cobwebs had begun to form, and not a single light was on. The thick fog in the area didn't help ease the mood.
-As Topham and his family stepped out of the carriages, a door crept opened behind them. In the door frame stood a man with silver hair that had a blue tint to it. If Topham didn't know any better, he would've mistaken the man as Edward!
-...He did not know any better, and the moment Edward spoke, he nearly had a stroke. After the screams of shock had faded, Edward explained that he knew they'd be back soon, and traveled out here to meet them. They can't stay here, and they have to go to Tidmouth sheds where it's safer. Seeing that this really was Edward, they trust his judgment and help him into the coach (much to Gordon's dismay).
-Edward explains that what happened to him happened to some of the others, but he doesn't know how many of the engines had changed. As far as he's aware of, himself, Thomas, Diesel, Henry, Percy, and James had changed but there could be more. By the time James and Percy had changed, the island had become divided, to the point where not even the replacement controller could handle it.
-Edward explains that the Bus company had halted their services for the railway. Most if not all of the road vehicles gave into Bulgy's Anti-Rail League, and they've dominated the transport industry on Sodor despite the other engines.
-The Little Western, Midsodor, Culdee Fell, and other Sodor railways have isolated themselves from each other, and won't allow the changed engines anywhere near them in fear of "spreading the disease to the rest of the engines". They've recently become aggressive towards them.
-The changed engines have taken up residents in the Workers Dorm near Tidmouth, and Edward encourage Topham and his family to stay there so they can stay safe until the situation calms down. Sir. Topham Hatt, seeing no harm in doing so, agrees.
-Edward soon relayed the situation to Gordon when they arrived at Tidmouth, but he was naturally curious about the ordeal after the shock had disappeared. Was he disgusted and horrified? Without a doubt. Was he still supportive for his friend and curious about it? definitely.
-The two of them talked to each other for hours. Gordon talked about his family reunion to brighten the mood, and Edward would talk to Gordon about all of the wonders that come with being human, such as having a bed with thick blankets and eating...well maybe not eating, he doesn't really eat that often. He still prefers coal and water, but he does eat food every now and again.
-Once the sun had set, Edward decided to head back to the Dorms for the night. As he walked back, however, he failed to notice that Gordon had begun to feel ill.
Headcanons:
-Shortly after his transformation, everyone became convinced of the disease theory, seeing as how he changed shortly after being in contact with Edward. Edward's been apologizing for the transformation for several weeks afterwards.
-Out of everyone in the Steam Team, Gordon took the transformation the hardest. He hated sudden changes and he loved having a routine. Cue this mess and now his whole world was turned upside down.
-It took a long time (around 3 months), but he was able to get used to it thanks to Edward and Henry. Both him and Edward shared a love for sleeping in beds, and while he didn't share Henry's love for eating, they did share a love for exploring the places that they've never seen before.
-Gordon in particular enjoys jogging, racing and even rock climbing. He's also known to explore the island's woods and towns with Henry and Edward on occasion. For a less strenuous hobby, he's an avid writer (and a pretty good one too!), taking most of his inspiration from gothic literature.
-With a new body comes new emotions, and with new emotions comes new experiences. To put this in perspective, imagine him running at high speeds away from his gay thoughts only to run straight into a brick wall Wile E Coyote style. That is how the Gorb do. Cue another shameless plug in for my favorite crack ship (D/10 x Gordon), and you have yourself a romcom that most people can actually stand!
-The mere second that Henry and Edward find out about the romance you know damn well that they're gonna lose their minds. "Oh, so I can't be with another engine, but YOU CAN?!!" "Well Gordon, I'm glad to see you finally admit you were wrong for once :)"
-10's "looks tough but is actually a big dork" persona was irresistible to the "I must hide my goofy side & preserve my integrity" Gordon. After all the years of having to keep up a pristine and elegant image, seeing 10 being so happy and free was enough for him to finally drop the act and to try and relax. His image wasn't important to him now anyways, there's something much more important than that now.
-10 brings out Gordon's goofy side, while Gordon helps keep 10 in check. It's the perfect dynamic!
D/10: *attempted to build an Ikea chair only to put the legs on the wrong way, and has been curled up into a ball ever since*
Gordon: That one. That's the one that I want to marry.
-Favorite thing about their partner? That goofy dorky grin that always magically appears when the two make eye contact. His second favorite thing? The massive bear hugs that he hands out on a daily basis.
-Funnily enough, Gordon was the first to realize the trend of "Steam loving Diesels" and "Diesels loving Steam" long before everyone else did. "Simply Disgraceful! Imagine dedicating your valuables, time and life to your own replacement! Pah! Couldn't be me!"
