YES ANON SPEAK UP LOUDER FOR THE PEOPLE IN THE BACK
We never get told how the snout deformity looks as well as that about the healer saying that they "figured out" the snout deformity so I always figured that it was like, an invisible disability
I didn't know that there was such discourse about it until I got on Tumblr
Was Chameleon's snout deformity ever properly described...?
I skimmed through some scenes with him in Escaping Peril and the scene where the RainWing healers talk about him Winter Turning, and I couldn't find anything. I very well could have missed something (please prove me wrong if I did), but it seems like his deformity might be more internal than external...? The healers said they "figured out" his deformity, implying that it may not have been obvious. If this is true, then I don't like how people tend to police how his deformity should look. Since his deformity isn't described in detail, it should be okay for people to have some freedom with their interpretations.
I've seen people get attacked over not making his deformity super apparent, and that doesn't sit right with me. These people are often shamed and labeled as ableists, but honestly? Being so close-minded about how a disability can show also feels a bit ableist to me. Disabilities that don't look obvious are still disabilities...
Alternatively, I've also seen a few people who draw Chameleon's deformity in a more "ugly" way get attacked. I hope I don't have to explain why this is awful.
Please don't take this confession as me defending people who are genuinely ableist towards Chameleon and want to erase his deformity btw. Those people are jerks.
If you see a portrayal of Chameleon you don't like, either have a respectful conversation about it with the artist/writer/whoever or just... ignore the post. Don't be a piece of shit about it.
.
#and like#we get to see chameleon in escaping peril#we get the gn this year#so hopefully it'll be settled this December#< jk i know there will be people who continue the discorse for discorse sake

Hello! Glad to see requests are open! Seeing that may I get a small thing for Zoro, Law and Mihawk. I've been having the idea of a devil fruit user reader falling into the water and needing rescuing (I'm very aware Law is also a devil fruit user but that just gives extra angst does it not). Hurt/comfort of course
Hello! Thanks for sending this in. I decided to change it a little for Law's, but I hope you like it anyway 💜💜
Even with precautions set in place, the sea was where the unexpected could happen. Whether a storm, sea monster, or battle taking place, the threat of the water was something you could never escape. Luckily, those closest to you were always prepared to protect.
CW: SFW, gn!reader, can be read as platonic or romantic, hurt/comfort, angst, fluff, headcanons/scenarios, reader is a devil fruit user
If you went overboard… (Zoro, Law, Mihawk)
Zoro: He’d always been protective over those closest to him, so you were no exception. Though never overbearing, he still kept an eye on you. During times of peril, he kept you in arm's length as often as he could. You were capable—strong in your own right. However, there were dangers that automatically made you far more vulnerable.
That day’s waters were vicious. The waves cascading over the railings gave no sign of the storm letting up. One wrong step was all it took to send you hurtling overboard. A shriek that pierced even during the hurricane-like winds sent the other hearts onboard plummeting.
Their cries for you weren’t accompanied by Zoro’s, but his action traveled faster than their worried calls. Before your limp body had the chance to sink much lower than the surface, he was there, diving in after you.
He was never short of prepared. Even when taking one of many naps, being aware of his surroundings never faltered.
A watchful eye on everything and everyone, his friends being the ones calling for actions guided by the heart.
He wasn’t one to hound others on things they were already aware of. The unexpected should be expected, and that meant there’d be times when you were made vulnerable and in need of help, just like all the others.
Law: The sea gave no pardons to anyone. Your devil fruit abilities came with a burden that at times felt more like a curse. The calm waters the Polar Tang was cutting through turned dark as the daytime sky transformed into night. With night came more blind spots because of the abyss inevitably closing in.
A sudden wack against the side sent some of the crew members to the floor. Books flew off the shelves and the alarm sounded through the metal rooms. Red lights that blinked in urgency left split seconds of total darkness in your room. Another slam caused you to trip and miss the door handle.
Water started spouting through the cracks, and with each attack against the submarine the cracks grew in size. Your cries for help were quickly silenced by the rising water. The cold ocean held you in a tight embrace against your bedroom floor, yet offering no comfort. An immediate drop outside your room jolted you awake.
It would come as second nature. No thought, just action. You were one of the few who he considered close to him.
Rescuing you, no matter how often, came with some lectures, though. Even if it wasn’t entirely your fault, he mostly did it as a way of expressing his fear of losing someone he cared about again.
Thorough check-ups after such shocks to the system were given, even if you protested saying you were just fine.
Mihawk: Holding the title of the greatest swordsman marked him and anyone close to him as a target. The bullseye seen by the world was drifting casually through the seas, catching the rays of that day’s sun. The rippling water from an approaching ship didn’t even cause him to open his eyes. He was still enjoying the warmth of the sun, but with the supposed enemy drawing nearer, he was left with no choice but to give them even a fraction of his attention.
The captain baited Mihawk, wanting to see the swordsman’s raw power for himself, even if that meant putting his crew’s lives in jeopardy. However, Mihawk wasn’t known for being temperamental, which many of these hecklers seemed to forget. A smooth swing of his sword and their ships sank to pits of the ocean floor.
When a shot was fired at you, the bullet was sliced in mid air. Though you hung around someone whose composure didn’t break, you flinched enough for the both of you. A motion back one step too far was all it took for you to lose your footing and slip into the shackles bound to you by the devil fruit. His challengers were swatted like the pests they were before he dove in after you.
Even his lectures were articulated like advice, which you accepted without protest.
He’d insist on giving you training to help you control these impulses, albeit natural, were life threatening in the wrong situations.
That being said, he obviously knew that once you were overboard, you required his full attention. He simply wanted to offer you assistance to prevent this from happening more frequently.

Tangled in Wonderland - Tall, Tall Tales
author note: Eeeeek this is very, very late! A lot of stuff has happened and yada yada but I’m here and I’m sorry! I’m still going to continue with this and I hope I can get back on track with writing this because I’m really enjoying this event! This instalment follows on directly from the Scarabia one, I hope you all enjoy!
characters: Floyd Leech x GN!Reader
“SHRIMPY!”
Oh no.
Your whole body froze up in an instant at the sound of that familiar, unhinged voice. Clearly, fate had decided you hadn’t gone through enough punishment today and decided to add a little bit more spice to your day. And by spice, it meant perhaps one of the most chaotic entities you have ever met. You looked around wildly, trying to spot him as quickly as you could so you could run. He was right on the path leading up to the Hall of Mirrors, roguish grin on his face as he waved both his arms at you. Your only choice was to go back inside and escape through one of the mirrors.
“Stay away from me, Leech!” You snapped, not even bothering with your usual faux attempt to be cordial as you turned on your heel, bolting towards the mirrors. If you could just get through the Heartlabyul mirror, you’d be—
“Aha~! Got you.” Breathed a husky voice right by your ear, suddenly tugged straight off your feet and into the air by the lanky arms that coiled around your midsection, your back flush against his chest.
“Shrimpy is so mean, callin’ me by just my last name! Even when I’ve gone through all the effort to give you a lil nickname too!” Floyd mourned, swinging you around the Hall of Mirrors, your legs swinging perilously out in front of you whilst you clutched onto his arms for dear life and let out a small, undignified scream. “Aah, maybe you thought I was Jade? Because I was really far away? Then maybe I can forgive you, Shrimpy…” His sharp teeth were uncomfortable close to your ear as he let out a little laugh, “or maybe I can just keep spinnin’ you around!”
Floyd picked up the speed of his spinning, his manic laughter drowning out your screams and for a moment, you thought this might be how it all ended… But then you remembered, the Leech twins thrive off of fear in their victims, so you sucked it up and started hitting him on his arms to get his attention. If your legs ended up breaking one of the mirrors, you’d never hear the end of it from Crowley…
“P-put me down, Floyd! I am not a toy!” You cried out, and thankfully your repeated hitting of his arms managed to get his attention, for he finally slowed to a stop. The world spun around you, making you semi-grateful for his arms around your waist. They were the only thing holding you up, at this point.
“Eh? Are you sure you’re not a toy? Azul said somethin’ real interesting the other day…”
Uh oh.
“Did he now…” You remarked, feigning disinterest as best as you could as your vision finally began to right itself again.
“Mhmmm~” Floyd mused against your ear, and you just knew this couldn’t be good, “he said you know things. Things that you should have no way of knowing. Kinda like one of those magic 8 ball things.” Floyd continued, before his mouth split into a broad, terrifying grin. “Maybe if I shake you a little, you’ll tell me all sorts of things too.”
“Floyd, don’t—”
It was too late. You clung to Floyd’s arms as he began to shake you erratically, like you were a chocolate bar stuck in a vending machine. Your head collided with his shoulder multiple times, not hard enough to hurt but definitely jarring in its own way as the world once again became dizzying. Floyd seemed to be enjoying himself, his mocking laughter filling the small hall as he watched your rattled expression.
“Oh magic Shrimpy ball, oh magic Shrimpy ball,” he chanted as he continued to shake you, finally beginning to slow down as he leaned in to whisper in your ear, “why did you walk out of the Scarabia mirror just a moment ago?”
Ah, of course he saw that.
With as much strength as you could muster in your dizzy state, you threw an elbow back into his chest, feeling some satisfaction when you heard him let out a small ‘oof’. “That’s none of your business,” you grumbled, your lips turned downwards in distaste. “and that isn’t even how a magic 8 ball works! You’re supposed to ask the question first and then shake it… Don’t start shaking me again!” You quickly warned as a follow up, turning your head to give Floyd a glare. He just gave you that little frustrating grin right back.
“It’s not my fault Shrimpy, I have all this pent-up energy ‘cause you’ve been avoiding me. I’ve missed you.” As if to punctuate his words, he started to squeeze you, and you found yourself once again whacking his arms to get him to release you.
“Floyd! There is no need—” You gasped out, feeling some of your joints cracking harmlessly from the pressure but a tightness building near your ribs that promised pain if he didn’t stop soon. You gasped out a breath when he finally eased up his hold, but very nearly choked when you realised he was waltzing right towards the Octavinelle mirror.
“Floyd, put me down!”
“Nah, Shrimpy, don’t feel like it. Let’s hang out!” Floyd responded in his usual lackadaisical manner, stepping through the Octavinelle dormitory mirror without pause. It was odd, feeling the usually surreal feeling of a bubble forming around you as you floated towards the dorm, but on top of that, Floyd was still holding you, back flush against his chest with your legs dangling in front of you. You can’t imagine how ridiculous it looked.
Floyd walked you straight into the Mostro Lounge without a care in the world, heading straight for one of the unoccupied booths.
“Oya,” you heard another terribly familiar voice as you passed the bar, “I see you have acquired a valuable customer, Floyd. Please enjoy your stay.” Jade hummed with a short bow, not even bothering to hide his toothy grin as he observed your plight. You didn’t even get a chance to scowl before Floyd was bundling you into a booth, none too gently either.
“What? You told me to put you down.” Floyd drawled when you shot him a glare, sitting opposite you and spreading himself out on the available space. He leaned his elbows onto the table, propping his head up with one palm as he stared straight at you.
“Ne, Shrimpy… Why don’t you tell me what you said to Azul the other week to make him come back all shaken up?” Floyd hummed, his smile seeming playful, but you could already see the predatory glint in his eye.
You narrowed your eyes slightly, unsure of what Floyd’s motive was here.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” You responded demurely, keeping tight lipped. Floyd’s smile widened, sharp teeth on full display as he leaned forward. “Don’t be like that, Shrimpy! You should have seen it, it was hilarious!” Floyd cackled thumping his hand on the table in front of them, “he came rushin’ back to the Lounge, all pale faced and jumpy, and then locked himself in the VIP room.”
A cocktail glass filled with a blue liquid and decorated with a star shaped garnish was elegantly placed in front of you. A similar glass was placed in front of Floyd. “Yes, Azul was very startled when he returned to the Lounge the other week. We were very worried.” Jade confirmed, folding his hands in front of him, faux concern colouring his tone, but the amusement shone through his close eyed smile.
“I didn’t order this.” You responded dryly, as Floyd already pulled his straw to his mouth and took a gulp from his drink. “Aww just try it Shrimpy, it’s my own recipe! It’s good, see!” He stuck his tongue out, revealing his stained bright blue tongue. You pushed your glass away from you. Yeah, you definitely weren’t going to be trying that.
“I’m positively hurt, prefect. I mixed that with care, just for you.” Jade hummed, his eyebrows down turning in a look of fake hurt. You ignored him.
“We could hear Azul muttering to himself in the VIP room. ‘Who are they’, ‘how do they know that’. He got so mad when we used Jade’s key to unlock the door. You should have seen his face, Ahaa~”
“You spied on your own friend? You guys are ruthless.” You commented casually, and Floyd only grinned at you wider, Jade’s expression not changing from his solemn one.
“The VIP room was quite the mess, too. Papers all over the floor. Azul wouldn’t even let me help him clean it all up, it must have taken him hours.” Jade added, his smile looking more and more devious by the minute.
“So tell us what you did, Shrimpy.” Floyd prodded.
“Yes tell us, prefect.” Jade coaxed.
Both of the Leech twins stared you down, razor sharp smiles on their faces as they attempted to intimidate you into revealing what happened between you and Azul in the library that day. You were starting to see now why Azul insisted on referring to them as just colleagues.
You were in a bit of a bind here. You expected the stunt you pulled on Azul to have some backlash, and you really didn’t want to make the Leech twins anymore interested in you than they already were. And for whatever reason, Azul hadn’t divulged what you had said to him to Jade and Floyd, who were his closest confidants. Or, this was some sort of elaborate ruse that they had strategized to wheedle the information out of you. Either way, you thought you should probably tread with caution here…
… But Azul had been bothering you again lately…
You leaned back into your seat, looking sheepishly away from them both and staring at the smooth pearlescent surface of the table. “I don’t know guys, it’s kind of… Embarrassing…” You muttered. You caught Jade and Floyd sharing a look between each other before they leaned in closer, like sharks tasting blood.
“Ne, it’s okay, you can tell us, Shrimpy…”
“It might make you feel better to get it off your chest, prefect…”
Hook, line and sinker.
You glanced up at them, the both of them leaning in uncomfortably close but you masked your distaste by rubbing your arm, as if you were feeling flustered by just thinking about the situation. “Well, um…” You began, pausing for dramatic effect, Floyd leaning in closer in anticipation and Jade nodding gently, as if the comfort you for the difficult story you were about to tell.
“Azul had been visiting me in the library after classes for a few days… We were getting along really well… It was, well… It was nice to have a friend. It’s hard sometimes, being the odd one out…” You sighed softly, really hamming it up for them. They were eating it up, leaning closer as you continued, “but Azul never made me feel like that. He was always so kind, so welcoming.” You smiled for a moment, before you face dropped and your lips pressed together into a tight line. “But then…” You hesitated again, your expression creasing into a distressed frown.
“Did something happen, prefect?”
“Yeah, yeah! Tell us Shrimpy!”
“Well… One day suddenly, he… Asked me on a date… But…” You started, but then you covered your face with your hands and shook your head, “oh I can’t say it, it’s just so… So humiliating!” You cried out, your voice muffled by your hands. Floyd and Jade were watching with rapt attention, Jade not even able to hide his obvious enjoyment at both your perceived distress and the opportunity to get some dirt on Azul, whereas Floyd hadn’t been hiding his excitement in the first place.
“But what, Shrimpy?”
“Please prefect, if you tell us, perhaps we can put your mind at ease…”
Slowly, you uncovered your hands from your face, to see the eager faces of the Leech twins nodding at you encouragingly. You leaned in close, and they followed suit, all three of you huddled together in the booth almost conspiratorially. You looked around nervously, before you continued in a hushed whisper.
“I had to turn him down… He got a little upset, understandably. He couldn’t see why I didn’t like him, why I wouldn’t give him a chance…” Floyd and Jade shared a discreet look at that, because that definitely sounded like the Azul they knew. “I tried to comfort him, to tell him that I thought he was a great guy and it was me not him but he just wouldn’t listen! So I had to tell him the truth…” You winced, wringing your hands together. If Floyd and Jade leaned any closer, you’d all be bumping heads together.
“The truth, prefect?”
“Ne, you can tell us, Shrimpy…”
You swallowed, before looking up at them with your best puppy dog eyes. “Okay, please don’t say anything but… … …”
“… I’m allergic to octopus…”
The table fell silent. Floyd and Jade stared at you, motionless, as you peeked up bashfully at them. Then suddenly, Floyd was roaring with laughter, his loud cackle making several of the customers in the Lounge jump in surprise. His hand thumped the table several times, knocking over his drink and sending the bright blue juice spilling all over the shiny white surface and onto the tile below. Jade effortlessly sidestepped before the mess could hit his shoes, but his shoulders were visibly shaking as his hand tried to hide his laughter
“Oh prefect… I’m so pffft… Ahem… I’m so sorry to hear that.” Jade attempted, hand still propped to his chin as he tried to compose himself, rather unsuccessfully screamed with laughter beside him.
“What is going on here?!”
A voice hissed through the Lounge, but the twins didn’t even flinch. If anything, it just sent Floyd into fresh peals of laughter, flopping down on the booth seat as he held his stomach.
Azul stood a few feet away, obviously brought out by the commotion and chaos that was currently happening in your booth. His eyes widened when he saw you sitting there, but he quickly schooled his face again, a detail that Jade caught, making him unable to resist his own toothy grin.
“Jade, you are supposed to be managing the bar. And Floyd, stop that racket right now and get changed. Your shift started thirty minutes ago! And clean up that mess!” Azul ordered with a stern expression, before his eyes landed on you, his lips pursing together, “and I would appreciate it if you didn’t disturb them when they are working, prefect.”
You held your hands up defensively as you started to shimmy out of the booth. “Actually, I was just leaving.”
Your words breathed some life back into Floyd, who’d finally recovered from his laughing fit to sit up and climb out of the booth himself, a rapturous smile on his face. “I’ll walk Shrimpy to the door~!” He announced, throwing a heavy arm around your shoulders before you could rebuff him.
“Floyd! You’re supposed to be—”
“I’m terribly sorry for my negligence, Azul. I was just trying to comfort our dear customer over their recent romantic distress.” Jade chimed in, and the only way you would be able to describe the grin on his face was feral. Floyd began cackling again, using Jade’s distraction of Azul as an opportunity to whisk you away and get out of work at the same time.
You pondered whether you should feel bad for setting up Azul for at least a week’s worth of ribbing from the Leech twins as Floyd steered you towards the Octavinelle mirror, but then you remembered he put an anemone on your cat. And Ace and Deuce. Suddenly, your shoulders felt a lot lighter. Well, they would, if Floyd’s lanky arm wasn’t still around them.
Floyd kept his arm around you right until you reached the exit of the Octavinelle dorm, but you chalked it up to him being on a good mood high because of what you’d just told him and Jade. But just as you were about to duck out from under his arm, you felt his hot breath against your ear for the second time that day.
“Ne, Shrimpy. Are you allergic to eel too?”
Before you could even react, you were getting sucked up into one of those magical bubbles again as it began carrying you towards the Octavinelle mirror, your expression bewildered as you stared back at Floyd, who sent you off with a cheeky grin.

Yo I am super stoked to see what chameleon looks like when Escaping Peril comes out along with the fight scene with Scarlet and Ruby
My Thoughts on things in the Winter Turning Graphic Novel
There are baby dragons in the book and they are adorable.
Hey, Morrowseer, you look ashy.
We get to see Arctic!
There’s a picture of Darkstalker with red eyes.
Sleep-deprived Icicle is honestly pretty creepy.
Jambu, good to see you again.
There’s a panel of Qibli telling Winter not to give up and my Qinter-loving heart can’t take it.
Scarlet is legitimately intimidating during the scene she’s dreamvisiting Winter.
Pyrite turning back into Hailstorm looks amazing!
The Ice Palace is beautiful.
SNOWFALL AND LYNX! I don’t care that Snowfall is acting like a huge bitch, I’m really happy to see her.
Foeslayer is so unphased by everything it’s kind of funny.
Love the epilogue. Very excited for Escaping Peril.

cw: gn!reader. yandere-ish sanji (isn't that sort of just always sanji?). obsessive behavior. physically blocking reader from moving. using prompt from here. // Yandere Minific Masterlist
Sanji’s arms cage you in on either side, hands pressed firmly against your upper arms, keeping you locked in place against the pantry door. You raise your hands to uselessly grasp at his steely forearms, but your fingers never quite gain purchase. Kicking at him would be futile at best and perilous at worst—you’d seen him in a fight and know full well what he is capable of using just his legs.
“You can’t go, my darling,” he says through uneven breaths, a noise that you could almost mistake for a laugh trailing after. “You—you just can’t.”
“Sanji, please,” you whisper, choking back a scream, “I want to go home.”
Nami had been confident that it would be no time at all before you’d be back on your island, embracing your friends, collapsing into your own bed, eating meals made by your own hands. Not that you minded your accommodations for the time being—getting saved by the Strawhats was more than enough, but they graciously offered to transport you home (it was on their way to their next destination), and you and sleeping in a warm bed and having meals lovingly (perhaps too lovingly) prepared by their chef was a welcome change of pace from the last time you’d gotten mixed up in the middle of a skirmish and the heroic Marines simply dropped you off at the nearest safe island, leaving you to figure out safe passage home.
But the few days you were promised turned into a week, then two. A stop at another island for supplies, a quick pause at yet another, Sanji always by your side when you’d debark. On today’s impromptu stop, he insisted on staying back on the Sunny with you, something about this place being too dangerous for someone so delicate, so ethereal. He made you tea, fed you snacks, sat beside you and swooned over you as you read a book. You’d learned how to politely ignore him by now, but it was becoming more and more difficult by the day the way he smothered you with misplaced affection.
You tried to sneak into the kitchen to get your own refill, but he’d found you almost instantly, as though he were always just steps behind you, following your scent like a bloodhound. You’d made the mistake of blurting out how long it was taking to get you home and suddenly the glass in your hand crashed to the floor and you were pressed against the pantry, Sanji’s face inches from yours, his desperation growing by the second.
“But—but you’ve only just arrived. Is it something I’ve done? Is it something I’m not doing?” The panic in his voice rises, his tone becoming almost shrill the more he rambles. “What can I do to change your mind, my love?”
There is no one else aboard this ship, just you and him. You have to remain calm. You have to remain in control of yourself. You inhale deeply, exhale slowly, trying to slow you racing heart. “Sanji—why aren’t I home just yet?”
“My sweet, your home was out of the way and I—well, everyone understands that when a man falls in love, he can’t let go just so easily.” His gaze drops to the floor, and he shudders, a soft sob leaving his lungs. “I've only begun to know what home means when I met you. Please, don't take it away from me again.”
“Sanji, what did you do?”
An unsettling smile creeps up the corners of Sanji’s lips, one that you will see in your mind’s eye every night when sleep evades you, as tears stream down his cheeks. “Luffy never turns down a new crew member. He didn’t need much convincing, my sweet—not for someone as incredible as you.”
A hundred different scenarios swirl in your mind, a protest creeping up your gullet but sticking there, helplessly. It’s you against them—against him. You’re weak. You have no devil fruit. You never learned to fight beyond simple self-defense. Escape seems far away, somewhere your fingers cannot grasp, and your body stiffens.
“Just give it time, ma petit chou. You’ll learn to love it here.” He strokes your face with the back of his hand, sucking in a breath through his teeth at the sensation of your flesh on his. He leans in and presses his cheek to yours, moaning as his lips ghost your prickled skin as he whispers, “You’ll learn to love me.”

Nothing At All (Doctor Who One-Shot)
Tenth Doctor x GN!Reader / requests are open and encouraged!
Summary: Your feelings for the Doctor are outed, and you're pretty sure he doesn't feel the same way. Thank God you're wrong, eh?
CW: angst, pining, canon typical peril, small amount of fluff, fluffy-ish
Doctor Who tag list: @nyxiethesimp @quickslvxrr (send an ask to be added to a tag list!)
___ ___ ___ ___ ___
“The mortal is exhibiting signals of elation and relief in the presence of our enemy,” the alien cyborg said robotically. You let out a frustrated puff of air. Of course, you felt relieved to see him. He was here to (presumably and hopefully) save you from their disturbing clutches. “Subject exhibiting pupillary dilation and increased blood flow to the chest, ears and face.”
You groaned, eyes widening slightly at the implications of just what this cyborg was stumbling into finding out.
These particular cyborgs had taken you hostage to study. They’d never seen a human before and supposedly this meant that they just had to have you. They needed to know everything under the sun, apparently.
The Doctor grinned and you pressed your hand up towards the glass as if to reach him through it. It was thick and sterile and there was a cool mist spraying down onto you from above- no doubt with some sterilising agent in it as well. Liked their shit clean, these cyborgs did.
“Right then,” the Doctor said, practically bouncing on the balls of his feet, sonic clutched behind his back. “I think you’d better let my friend go, don’t you?”
The cyborg’s metallic head stared vacantly at the Doctor before it whirred and clicked to focus on you.
“The subject displays a rise in heart rate upon making visual contact with the enemy.”
Your eyes flit to the Doctor, who is doing his best not to make eye contact with you. You’re starting to piece together just what the cyborg is currently monitoring.
The Doctor clicks his tongue, whipping the Sonic from behind his back and scanning the lock on your glass door. The door opens with a ‘shhhhhk,’ as the gas leaks out around the framing.
You spring into action, darting past the canister-like tube that you’d been held in and running for the Doctor’s hand. You took it with a squeeze and the Doctor shot a beam at the cyborg, who’d started towards you.
“Emotion identified,” the cyborg said, robotic voice slowing as the Sonic did its thing. “Human emotion… named… love…”
You groaned, flushing deep red as the Doctor grabbed you by the shoulder and pushed you forward, urging you towards wherever it was he’d parked the TARDIS. You didn’t even want to look at him. This was it. This was how you died. You almost wished the cyborg had killed you right then and there to save yourself from the misery of it all.
You’d not wanted the Doctor to find out about your little crush this way. In fact, there were about a million other ways you would have preferred he found out.
You ran in whichever direction the Doctor told you, not daring to look behind you for fear of his expression, yes, but also for fear of seeing several angry cyborgs charging up their face lasers or something to smite you down with.
Then, at the end of the corridor, you saw the TARDIS. She was parked half in the shadows and a cyborg was scanning it. The Doctor grunted as you both pelted it towards the blue box. You heard the telltale sound of the Sonic as he aimed it over your shoulder and fired it at the cyborg, most likely disabling the laser. It wasn’t as though the cyborg would have been able to garner much information from scanning it anyway, of course. The TARDIS had natural defences against that sort of thing, but it was the principle of the thing.
The cyborg shut down as you narrowly escaped running face-first into its arm. With a shriek, you bolted inside the TARDIS doors, trying to avoid toppling up the stairs and breaking a bone in the process.
The Doctor was hot on your heels, skidding to a stop to close the doors behind you both and lean back against it, skin flush with sweat and adrenaline. He panted, hands on his knees.
It was only a minute before he was back on his feet, trying desperately to catch his breath but so rejuvenated by the narrow escape that he was bursting with energy. You were not in a similar boat. You were doing your best to just not collapse onto the floor from fear and exhaustion.
Your cheeks were ruddy red, and sweat was beading in your hairline. You groaned irritably, desperately needing some water or a very, very long shower. And as you slowly started to bring yourself back down and your breathing started to even out, you remembered what the cyborg had said.
“Oh, wasn’t that exciting?!” The Doctor practically yelled, energy bouncing off him in spades. “Cyborgs- brand new cyborgs sent to catalogue anything and everything! Bit of a job, but I s’pose that’s why they sent cyborgs. Not going to degenerate too fast. Oh, and their inter-cranial wiring- I mean, did you see that? Gorgeous!”
You were vaguely listening, in the very back of your brain. Hearing the words? Yes, but actually listening to what he was saying? Not so much, no. You wanted to curl up into a ball and just… roll away out of sight so you could avoid the Doctor forever. The TARDIS was basically never-ending. You could hide out there for the rest of your life, right? It would take him forever to find you if you kept moving from room to room.
“-Hello? Are you hearing me?”
“What?”
The Doctor pouted, eyebrows drawn down in concern.
“Are you alright?”
Were you alright? Were you alright? No, you were not alright. You were in love with the Doctor, and he’d avoided eye contact upon hearing that particular little factoid, which made you feel just so amazing about the whole thing.
“Me? Never better,” you replied with a tight smile, swallowing thickly, throat dry.
“Oh,” the Doctor said, nodding like he was trying to make himself believe it but knowing better. “Are you sure? I mean, that wasn’t all that convincing, really.” The Doctor scratched at the back of his head. You rubbed a hand down your face irritably and sighed.
“Not really,” you finally admitted. “No.”
The Doctor stepped forward, putting the Sonic away in his pocket. He put both his hands on your shoulders and gave you a very sincere look of genuine concern.
“What’s wrong?”
“Besides the fact that you can’t even stand to look at me?”
The Doctor flounders for a moment, dropping his hands from you. You regret the words as soon as they leave your mouth. The Doctor, your poor un-offendable Doctor, looks hurt. You’ve hurt him.
“Shit- I-”
“Is that really what you think?” His voice sounds small and tinny in a way that unnerves you. You step forward, a small shuffle of a step, only for him to take one back. Ow, it feels like a fist has been rammed right through your gut and out the other side. Only that’s not what’s happened, and you’re not going to drop dead from having a hole torn right through you to avoid having to replay that memory in your head for the next thirty years.
That flash of hurt on his face is gone the next, and it’s replaced by something that- if you’re not mistaken- almost looks angry.
“No, is that really what you think?”
It’s your turn to flounder now, hand hovering in the air toward him like a phantom. You’re not even convinced it’s your hand anymore. What was happening, and why was it happening?
“I- n-no,” your voice wavered, unsure. “It’s just- when the cyborg- and you- I-” Your hands went to your head, and you forced yourself to breathe. The Doctor was fighting with himself on whether to rush forward to comfort you or remain in his protective defensive bubble.
In and out. Once more. Okay, you were a little calmer now, your breathing evening out. With great care, you said, “You couldn’t look at me. When the cyborg told you… how I feel. I thought-” you broke off, tears springing up at the thought. “You might be done with me now that you know. That you might take be back home.”
“Take you home?!”
You jump at the volume of his response, eyes managing to meet his in defiance of all odds.
“No, I’m not going to take you home. I- I didn’t want to let on I felt the same, because, well- they were calling me the enemy, and I didn’t need them thinking I had a weak spot for you. I mean, what would I do if you were gone? Cease to exist, cease to function.” The Doctor barely stopped for a breath. “Who else is going to call me out on my mismatched shoes, or- make sure I eat all the broccoli on my plate? Yuck, hate broccoli. Really, there’s no one else for me, I-” he breaks off so suddenly it’s almost jarring.
“What?”
“You feel the same?”
The Doctor blinks, clearly jolted out of his train of thought.
“Course I do! You’re- well, you’re you! Look at you, how could I not?”
In those three seconds all of your fear, anxiety, embarrassment, anger, it all fades away, and you know everything is going to be alright. You’ll be alright, and so will he. You’ll be alright together, and what else did you need if you had each other?
Nothing at all.

DAY 1: FIRST FALL OF SNOW ❅⋆⍋
summary: activities you do in the snow
characters: albedo, childe, diluc, wriothesley.
notes: wc: 260-300 per character, roughly 1.1k total, gn! reader, fluff, mentions of reader being lost in the snow in childe’s, petnames, the madness begins.
⋆⁺₊❅⋆ dreamy december event masterlist
albedo - how to build a snowman
All year round, Dragonspine is inundated with thick layers of gleaming snow.
Twinkling in weak sunlight, an ethereal sight both close-up and afar.
However, there was always something particularly striking about waking up to a fresh new coat of snow. Impeccably perfect, its raw beauty enthrals you each time. It was a privilege, you knew. Not just anyone could climb such an intimidating mountain, and the only reason you got to experience such phenomenons, the one who introduced you to this very mountain—was someone you’d never imagined to meet. Much less be more than acquaintances, a renowned genius, who currently stood completely blank in the suggestion of building snowmen.
"So, ah… I just add another pile on top?”
For the hundredth time this morning, you shake your head with an expression of amusement. “No,” you mutter, rolling the pile next to him into the shape of a sphere before placing it before him. “You need to make it into a ball shape, then place it on top. That will be its middle.” You point accordingly, an encouraging smile plastered on your face.
Albedo still doesn’t get it.
Instead, he watches silently as you enjoy yourself constructing a snowman. How interesting, creating little figures out of snow. He watches from afar as you unravel your own woollen scarf and wrap it around its uneven neck. He watches as you judge a variety of sticks to pick the most suitable to be its arms.
Albedo watches as you stand proudly beside it, a dazzling smile etching your face as he too, unravels his woollen scarf and gives it to you.
childe - snowball fights
You catch your breath behind a large cedar tree.
Was it a surprise? Surely not. Challenging Childe in any form of fight was the equivalence of battling in an arena, playful or not.
It also didn’t help that you were winning. For now, at least.
A strong gust of frosty wind brings a blizzard of newly formed snowflakes, collecting delicately on your hair and clothing. The fierce howls mask up any forms of sound, and the gradually falling snow covers up any traces of footprints.
Moreover, the temperature was severely dropping by the minute.
Perfect weather, you curse internally.
Your hands swiftly grab handfuls of the snow all around you, leaving a deep indentation in the shape of a ring all around you. Painfully obvious evidence that you were here, but at this point in time, you were more than ready to surrender. Between the choice of victory or frostbite, you’d willingly lose.
Cradling a dozen snowballs, your eyes are alert and searching as you attempt to outline any signs of a human. It’s hopeless; the wind is intensifying, swirling the frost like a snowglobe.
An anguished sigh escapes as you look down at the heavy layers of snow. Perhaps it was time to resort to something more desper-
Smack.
Something cold lands on the side of your face before falling to bits next to your feet. Another flies right past you.
You’re supposed to be mad; you’re supposed to shout and blame him for putting you in such a perilous and stupid situation, but you don’t.
As he catches you in an embrace, a contrast to everything you felt mere seconds ago, so frantic and tight, you realise how scared he was—scared enough to be rendered completely and irrevocably silent.
diluc - snow? my eyes are on you.
How long has it been?
How long have you been gazing, lost in your thoughts, through the window of your shared bedroom?
It’s quiet, but a comforting sort of quiet. The sort of quiet that you could appreciate for years and years and enjoy as if it were freshly discovered. Perhaps it was because of Diluc and the reserved and reclusive ambience he always carried. Whatever it was, you understood why he sought it so much.
Kaeya told you to expect snow tonight.
You love snow.
As soon as Diluc stepped one foot into the entrance of Dawn Winery, you had notified him most excitedly, “It’s going to snow tonight!”
You made sure not to mention that it was Kaeya who told you, though.
Being the gentleman he was, Diluc reciprocated your happiness most thoughtfully. Across the candlit dinner table, you swapped memories and dreams, all down until the last few tired murmurs sealed with a tender goodnight kiss planted on your forehead. A fond, “Sweet dreams, sweetheart,” as he drifted off to sleep.
Time steamed on; it must’ve been hours, according to the grandfather clock in the farthest corner of the bedroom, yet never once did your eyes stray from the window. You had long abandoned your previous sleeping position and now cozily huddled your legs, although still buried comfortably within the blankets.
Diluc seemed to be sleeping peacefully.
For a while, you observed in slight awe, the little rises in his chest as he inhaled, the serene expression decorating his face. It felt so intimate, so softly vulnerable—simply two people treasuring a moment in their lives so unknowingly—is what made it magnificent.
The first glimmers of snow lightly shimmered through the night sky as a familiarly snug hand pulled you beneath the covers.
wriothesley - ice skating
The many fountains in Fontaine had been frozen from the frigid weather, transforming the statues to behold graceful arches that glinted divinely in the feeble sunlight. Bound to be presented gloriously on the front page of the Steambird for the next three months or so.
Additionally, smaller bodies of water had completely transformed into ice, making it a perfect opportunity for extravagant winter activities. After all, Fontaine was never short of its flamboyance and charming flair when it came to anything of that sort.
That was the reason Wriothesley had spontaneously suggested going for a skate on the ice.
You had promptly declined at first, leaning over his desk, brushing the idea off with a brisk excuse of, “I can’t skate.”
Wriothesley had looked up from his stacks of documents, followed by a falsely exasperated roll of eyes, saying, “That’s what you said about dancing.”
"I'm not a very good dancer, you know that.”
“But I successfully taught you, didn’t I?" he confidently answered, standing from the overflowing desk.
You made a non-committal noise, shaking your head as Wriothesley chucked and wrapped an arm around you. “C’mon, let’s give it a try, all right, darling?”
This is precisely how you landed yourself in such a predicament.
The skates were easy enough to get on, but the process of skating, like you anticipated, was no easy skill.
Wriothesley, being the superb lover he is, let’s out a muffled snort as he watches you topple over for what could’ve only been the hundredth time that evening.
“Instead of laughing, you could actually help me like you promised, you know.”
With one last terribly hidden chortle, Wriothesley seizes your hands and gently guides your movements alongside his, careful and patient, as you both skate until the winter sunlight ebbs over the horizon.

Nightmare
Bayverse Mikey x GN reader
Summary/warnings: SFW but mentions of sex, Mikey turns violent waking up from a nightmare. - hurt no comfort, violence, reader in peril, unhappy ending
The jostle of a heavy limb against your stomach woke you, and at first you didn’t understand what was happening.
The room was still familiar, lit up enough by the little nightlight on the dresser across the room for you to know you were still in Mikey’s room, still in a safe place, even if your brain was slow to process anything else. You were about to drift off again, certain it was just a fluke sensation that had pulled you from your dream, when a quiet little snuffle grabbed your attention once more.
Mikey was still curled up next to you, between you and the edge of the bed, half on his stomach and half draped over you. If you craned your neck, you could just just make out his expression, just see the way his brow ridge was furrowed low over his eyes, the way his beak was scrunched up tight.
He was having a nightmare. The stilted way his arm tightened over your waist confirmed it, the motion sharp and jerky and not at all like how he usually handled you.
You rolled in his grip, letting him pull you closer, hands raising to tap along his cheekbones in the little dance you’d picked up from him in the months dating. The first time you’d fluttered your fingers at him, he’d all but dropped what he was doing to pounce on you and fuck you flat on the nearest surface with a low chance of getting caught, but over time it seemed to have morphed into a sweeter gesture to him, and was one you used to your advantage instead of trying to out puppy dog eye him.
Mikey rumbled in his sleep, the sound pained and low. You frowned, not expecting that reaction, slowing your tapping in favor of running your hands soothingly over the planes of his face, down his neck to push against the upper scutes of his plastron. “Angelo? Baby?”
Mikey hissed, starting to roll away, and without thinking you followed him, reaching across his chest, intending to shake him again in hopes of waking him up.
Your fingers grazed the line of raised scales along his side, some age old scar whose story you had yet to hear, when Mikey let out another low growl, hand snapping to your own in a grip that had you crying out in surprise.
You were pushed to your back in a flash, no time to kick out or process the fact that a very angry Michelangelo was now straddling you, knees tucked in tight over your hips and one strong arm pressed under your chin.
Your head was forced back, and though you reflexively took a breath, the air never made it passed your throat, choked off as his arm pressed you further into the mattress.
His eyes were wide open, unseeing, his pupils tiny pinpricks swimming in the baby blue you loved so much.
You blinked, and realized half the swimming was you, trying to wheeze in oxygen and failing as your vision started to wobble and grey out. Your free hand feebly tried to scrabble along his shoulder to no avail...
you blinked, trying to clear your vision, trying to think of a way to get through to him before you passed out.
You were slipping…. Sliding… all you could see was blue, your heart thundering in your chest, diaphragm heaving even though there was no air escaping past Mikey’s choke hold…
If there was noise, if he was saying anything, you weren’t aware, but suddenly the light was on, and Mikey was pulled off you.
Your throat expanded, your voice gasped, but it was like hearing it from another body. That couldn’t be you, crying and sobbing hysterically. That couldn’t be you, trying to drag yourself through the various blankets and pillows strewn on the bed, desperate for the grounding touch of rough concrete walls instead of all this plush comfort.
Someone hovered over you again, blocking out the orange toned lamp on the dresser by the door, and you reacted violently, too scared to realize it wasn’t Mikey coming to finish what he’d started, the outline too tall, too lanky.
Donnie took a closed fist to the snout. Another time, you might have been proud to get past his lightning fast reflexes, but here and now you were still crying, tears blocking your vision, throat starting to burn.
Voices, aimed at you, aimed at Mikey, you didn’t care. You’d found the concrete wall, and you were now pressed against it, content to hide from whoever else was in the room. Your throat burned.
Voices filtered through your ringing ears:
“Need to check her out-”
“I’m working on it, give me some space!”
“Goddamn, Mike, snap out of it-”
And beyond that, another gasp, this one cutting through the noise in the room like a knife. The next word question had tears of a different flavor slipping down your cheeks.
“Angel?”
The bed dipped, before you heard a low growl and the sound of a shell hitting the floor, a solid thump that caused a hitch in your chest.
“Stay down for a moment, Mikey. Give her space.”
“Fuck you, Leo, let me up!”
Hearing the anger, the crack in his voice, had you moving, hands slapping away the proffered arms trying to keep you contained. Your feet were shaky, soles hurting from how bone cold the floor was.
The cold stabbed into your inflamed airways, making every breath painful, making you gasp with every step, but nothing compared to the pain in your heart at the way your name cracked from Mikey’s mouth when he saw you were leaving the room.

The Bad Batch and Reuniting After Time Apart (TBB x GN!Reader)
Summary: It is inevitable you will have to spend time away from the Batch, but time apart makes your reunions all the sweeter.
Warnings: Mostly fluff. A little separation anxiety.
-- -- -- -- --
Hunter
Although Hunter doesn't enjoy being away from you, he accepts that there will be times when it's necessary. When you get back, he greets you with the most endearing smile and a loving embrace. He seems collected on the surface, but deep down he is thrilled to be with you again. He squeezes you more than usual, his kisses linger a few seconds longer, and he can’t take his eyes off you, smiling like a fool when nobody is looking and basking in how his brothers and Omega greet you so warmly upon your return.
On one occasion, you had to leave the group for a couple of months to help a friend. It was the longest you had been away since you had met them, and Hunter was secretly worried, but he trusted in your ability to handle whatever challenges you faced. He had seen your strength and determination countless times, so he just had to be patient. He busied himself with looking after his siblings and making sure they were cared for, silently hoping you would arrive back sooner than expected. Omega was the first to spot you when you returned, and she eagerly rushed over to say hello, followed by her brothers. For the first time, Hunter felt such an overwhelming sense of family and belonging that he had to fight back the tears. To conceal his wet lashes, he embraced you tightly and planted a tender kiss on your lips, welcoming you back, to your home and your family.
Echo
Whenever you have to venture out alone without the team, Echo is determined to remain practical to stave off the rising concern about your safety. He creates a checklist and guides you through the potential dangers and escape plans. Emergency contacts follow the immediate potential perils, as well as call signals and safe spots in each sector of the galaxy. It gets to the point where you can recite them all before he does, finishing with a kiss on his cheek and a promise to stay safe. That is all he needs to settle his concerns, that one little promise. When you're expected to return, he waits for the others to greet you before finding a secluded spot for the two of you to talk in private.
You received a call to attend to pressing matters concerning a loved one. Fortunately, you were able to maintain contact with Echo while away. Each night, as the stars drifted in their rotation, you both snuggled into your beds and talked for hours, sharing how your day had been and counting down the time until you could reunite. Upon the arrival of the much-awaited day, Echo ensured they reached the assigned port early and made extra arrangements to make sure they went unnoticed. You arrived to a whirlwind of smiles and hugs from his siblings, each of them eager to share their recent news and ask about your travels. Echo waited as the tales were exchanged, and once aboard ship, he found you both a private corner to embrace away the distance you had felt for the past few weeks.
Wrecker
Wrecker absolutely despises being away from you, but damn he loves that first sight of you again after time apart. The swell of love that surges through him is only surpassed by the way it feels to have you back in his arms. Without fail, when you reunite, he runs towards you, lifts you off your feet, and spends the rest of the day with a huge grin on his face, unable to resist squeezing you tightly at every opportunity he gets.
A complex mission required you both to split up for a few days, your separate skills needed with the other group. Deprived of any form of communication or assurance of your well-being, Wrecker fell silent, craving your presence and the serenity you always brought. Time seemed to crawl, but finally, you were reunited, and he held you as if you might vanish if he loosened his grip. Back on the ship and in his bunk, he engulfed you with his arms, his cheek touching the crown of your head as you recounted the progress of your mission, and eventually, you both drifted off to sleep, entangled in one another.
Crosshair
Crosshair has a habit of hiding his emotions, but as you become closer, he starts to open up. When you have to go, he withdraws, fearing his brothers will mock him if he admits he misses you. Whenever you're gone, his mood plummets, not to the point of bothering his brothers, but enough for them to take notice. Rather than teasing him as he expects, they encourage him and cheer him up until you return.
During a chaotic mission, with every risk and peril imaginable, you had been split up. You had only just been able to communicate that you were safe before the transmission cut completely. Despite your reassuring message, any calm within Crosshair melted. The mission was irrelevant; his sole focus was on ensuring your safety and he embarked on an almost self-sacrificial fight to find you. The moment he laid eyes on you he wrapped you in a tight embrace that made you fear something terrible had transpired in your absence. He pulled away slightly to place his forehead against yours, unconcerned about his siblings' judgments; the other half of his soul had returned safe and sound, and his family was back together again.
Tech
When you're away, Tech does his best to maintain a sense of normalcy. He occupies himself with his projects until your presence returns and he no longer feels that something is missing inside him. He knows you'll only leave if it's absolutely necessary, and each time he wishes you well and ensures you're prepared, offering a comforting smile as you leave.
You had left to visit some loved ones and would be away for some time. Tech felt fine at first, but after that month mark, he noticed himself growing irritable at the void inside his heart. Rather than letting it defeat him, he seized control and resolved to create something for you. He started making recordings just for you, capturing the tabletop games he played with his siblings during their hyperspace travels and the fascinating planets they explored. It reached the point where he made recordings while tinkering with his latest project on the ship, his voice filled with nostalgia and love, all but whispering those private thoughts into the aether in the hope you might hear them. The night of your return, he shared the recordings he made. When it reached the videos of him talking to himself about how he felt about you, you pulled him closer, smoothing the pads of your thumbs over his cheeks before you kissed him.

And in Kaku, they found a love that empowered and inspired them to be the best versions of themselves – fearless in their love and in the face of adversity

Hello! I'm always tempted to go anon because for some reason, I expect judgment from people who are here for the same reason I am. It's very silly. But anyway. May I please have Law and Luffy in an Ace-Marineford situation (captured by the marines and set for public execution) with their s/o being the Luffy, head of the pack coming to save them. But like they survive! Maybe their s/o loses a limb or an eye or is badly hurt or something, but they survive and are together at the end. I'm here for angst, not more Marineford related trauma!
Thank you for your time.
A/N: Im so glad you don't turn anon! And I'm so glad you're here :) Ohhhkay! I imagine this takes place in Dressrosa. You get captured during the escape, and the Strawhats + Law rush to come to get you in Marineford.
P.S. I realized you wanted Luffy and Law separately about 2/3rds through writing this story IM SO SORRY.

How to Save a Life
Looking down at Marineford, Luffy found it all extremely foreign. He remembered the platform where you kneeled to the world. But everything else was unfamiliar.
Of course, they had to rebuild a lot of it after Ace’s execution. Luffy remembered that much. The devastation that had been caused by both sides had been immense. But they had chosen to rebuild regardless. And now Luffy was back here again. For you.
His entire command of 4,000 individuals had come along with him, as well as Law. But Luffy refused to allow the execution to drag on longer than it needed to. The world government knew how much of a threat he was now. And if he didn’t get to you quickly, they would kill you in a heartbeat.
They had two Vice Admirals ready to perform the execution. Luffy’s conqueror haki wouldn’t impact them the way it had the last time. His best bet would be to get up close to you and get out.
Everyone was frozen, waiting for the first person to make the move.
“Please leave, Luffy!” you screamed, breaking the eerie silence that had begun the moment his ship rose from the sea. “It’s a tr-”
Akainu slammed his foot into your back, shoving you down into the ground to keep you quiet, and Luffy’s rage ignited. There was no way in hell that Luffy would allow Akainu to kill two people he loved.
“Torao-”
As he spoke to get the other captain’s attention, a blue hue appeared around him. It didn’t encapsulate the entirety of Marineford, but it would get him closer to you. Close enough.
“Ready!” Akainu commanded, and the two Vice Admirals raised their swords.
Luffy gritted his teeth, praying he would get there in time. He felt his surroundings change, and suddenly he was in the middle of the air. His hand slung back and shot forward. But even if he could take out one of the executioners, there was still another sword that would end your life. You closed your eyes and braced yourself for the end. All you could do now is hope that Luffy and the others would make it out alive.
A fist met your face, and you could feel your entire body blow backwards from the impact of the punch. You could hear the sound of two swords smack against the wooden platform, and you cracked an eye open to see what was happening.
Luffy was soaring through the air, diving headfirst to you. He had punched you out of the way of the execution. It was such an idiotic but obvious answer, and of course Luffy thought of it.
He screamed your name, reaching out towards you. You could see the Marines tense, looking to Akainu for direction, but you didn’t care. The only person you cared about now was Luffy.
“Luffy, wait!” you screamed, desperate to get him to stop. You expected that Akainu anticipated some kind of complication. To him, you were just bait for a bigger fish. “It’s a trap!”
“I’m coming for you!” Luffy yelled back. “Don’t stop fighting!”
You knew he wouldn’t stop. You knew he didn't care if it was a trap. He had a panicked look in his eyes, only focused on you. So you listened to your captain.
As Akainu approached you, his hand began flowing with magma. He was expecting you to cower, to be frozen in fear as Luffy had been the last time he was here. And when Akainu went in for the kill, Luffy would sacrifice himself to save you, just as Ace had last time.
But you refused to let that happen. Luffy wouldn’t be dying for you. He wouldn’t be dying anytime soon. Not before he became king of the pirates.
You scrambled away from Akainu as best you could, giving Luffy as much time as possible to come up with some kind of plan. Your shackles didn’t give you much movement on the platform, but it was enough to keep yourself away from him.
You saw the outline of one of Luffy’s Elephant Gun attacks, and you braced yourself for another punch. The wooden platform splintered under you, and you felt rubber arms wrap around you, pulling you to him.
“Watch the sea prism!” you cried out, but suddenly Zoro was next to you. He looked startled, as if he wasn’t expecting to be there, but he quickly examined the situation and drew his blades. He sliced your shackles off and grabbed your arm, trying to stop his forward momentum. You all tumbled to the ground, Luffy turning into a balloon at the last second to cushion your fall.
“Stupid cannons,” Zoro mumbled, holding his swords out while looking at the Vice Admirals. Luffy stood next to him, gearing himself up for battle. Zoro glanced over at you and gritted his teeth in irritation. “Get back to the ship!”
You looked at the two of them, protecting you. “Luffy-”
“Just get inside Torao’s room,” Luffy reasoned. For once in his life, he actually made sense. “Then we’ll join you.”
You nodded and turned on your heels to run towards the blue hue in the distance. You didn’t want to leave them, but you were the Navy’s primary target, and you knew everyone would be coming to attack you. You had to remind yourself this was a rescue mission, and if you died, then everything they did would be for nothing.
You ran, fighting off Marines as you ran past them. You picked up a sword from a fallen soldier as defense, thankful for all of the times Zoro made you train with him. Marines were surrounding you slowly though, and you knew you wouldn’t last much longer like this.
You had made a mistake. You knew that, and as much as you wanted to correct it, it was too late. Pain ripped through your abdomen, and you screamed out. A sword had found its way into your flesh, and you could see blood beginning to blossom from the wound area, spreading over your clothes.
You wanted to collapse from the pain. To curl up and die, to give in to the will of the World Government. But you had to find a way to survive. You couldn’t die now, so close to freedom. Luffy would never forgive you. You couldn’t leave him alone. So you stabbed at the Marines, sweeping them to the side and continued on your journey.
“Y/N!” Luffy’s voice came from behind you, screaming out in desperation. You were too tired to turn around and look at him, but you could hear the slap of his sandals as he approached you. It was all you could do to keep upright.
His arms wrapped around you, helping support you. The second you felt him, you leaned heavily into him, the adrenaline wearing off now that you knew you were safe. You still had at least 500 yards to go, but you knew Luffy wouldn’t let anything happen to you now. Your vision began to blur, and you suddenly felt very cold and very tired.
“Don’t give up yet,” Luffy yelled, shaking you awake. “You have to keep moving.”
Luffy’s voice held a certain urgency that willed you back into the moment. You blinked away the sleep from your eyes and kept moving closer to the blue hue of safety. It was closing in fast, 400 yards, then 300, then 200.
“Zoro?” You paused to look around for the mossy haired swordsman, but Luffy kept propelling you forward.
“He’s holding off the admirals,” Luffy said, adjusting his grip around you.
Luffy could feel you tense at that, but he kept moving. He was practically dragging you now from walking so fast. It was all your legs could do to not give out, but neither of you could worry about Zoro now. He was capable enough to hold his own against any enemies you faced, this was no different.
You practically flung yourself into the blue sphere, and instantly felt weightless in the air, before dropping onto the deck of a ship. You groaned and rolled over, face to face with a green haired man that wasn’t Zoro.
You yelped out in surprise, trying to scramble backwards away from the stranger.
“Oh man, you look like you’re in rough shape!” the man said. “Nothing you haven’t been through before though, right?”
You gave him a confused and irritated look, but he turned his attention from you and looked out. “A doctor! Y/N needs a doctor!”
“I’m a doctor, idiot!” You heard Law’s voice in the distance and felt calmer. At least you were amongst friends, even if you weren’t sure who they were.
“You can’t leave Mister Luffy and-” The green haired man spoke again.
“I’m not!” Law shot back. His voice was still strained, but it was softer when he addressed you. “Can you hold on a few minutes?”
You nodded, pressing your hand against your stomach wound. You needed to slow down the bleeding as much as possible. Your vision was hazy and you felt cold, but you forced your eyes to stay open.
A few seconds later, Luffy and Zoro appeared next to you where some barrels were. Luffy ran to you, covering you in kisses.
“Luffy,” you said, struggling to hang on to consciousness. “Tell Law I’m type F.”
“Type F?” he asked, looking at you with concern, but you had already given into the darkness.
---
When your eyes fluttered open, you laid in a bed with bright lights above you. There was a mechanical whirring and steady beeps of machines, letting you know you were alive.
“You were lucky,” Law said, looking down at you. “Incredibly lucky. If that blade had hit one more inch to the left and you wouldn’t be here now.”
You let out a shaky breath, scared of what could have been. “Thank you, Law,” you said.
He raised an eyebrow. “For what?”
“Saving me?” you laughed, which in turn made you wince in pain.
“I didn’t save you,” Law said. “There wasn’t much I could do besides close up the wound.” His eyes darted to the bed next to you. “What you needed was a blood transfusion, which he helped with.”
You turned your head slightly to find Luffy sleeping in the bed next to you. He had a bandage wrapped around his arm, but other than that he looked relatively fine.
“Luffy?” you asked, and Law nodded.
At the mention of his name, Luffy stirred, mumbling a strew of syllables mixed between your name and different kinds of meat. After a moment, his eyes flicked wide open, and he bolted upright, looking around frantically.
“Did we do it?” he asked, looking at Law.
Law’s eyes darted over to you, and finally Luffy turned, his eyes meeting yours. A wide grin appeared across his face, and laughter bubbled up inside of him.
“You’re okay!” he cried. Luffy jumped out of his bed and into yours, wrapping you tight in a hug.
You ignored the pain of your wound for the moment, thankful to be in his embrace again.
“Get off!” Law scolded his fellow captain. “If that wound opens up again we’re all back where we started!”
“Sorry, sorry!” Luffy said, still giddy with the fact you were back in his arms. He loosened his grip, but didn’t let you go completely.
You leaned in to him, trying your best not to cry. “Thank you, captain. Thank you for saving me. Twice.”
“I’ll always come back for you,” Luffy murmured in your ear, giving you a light squeeze. “No matter what. You’re stuck with me now, and I won’t let anything happen to you. That’s a promise.”

You Know That I Would Jump Too
Tenth Doctor x GN!Reader
Summary: Life with the Doctor means constant peril. Sometimes, though, it really does seem like the two of you won't make it out. And sometimes, that calls for drastic actions.
Soundtrack: Mermaid by Skott
Requests: Open!
Warnings: Canon-Typical Peril.
The Doctor rarely failed to notice things. That was his job, that was what he did. Notice things.
So how did he fail to notice that you were being cornered?
Your back pressed against the wall behind you, eyes desperately scanning your surroundings for any way out. There was nothing, yet you kept looking. Beside you, the Doctor was frozen, whispering "I'm so sorry," over and over.
He wasn't usually unhelpful, either.
There were three Cybermen ahead of you, and you could hear the words "delete" and "upgrade," though they were a bit fuzzy as your mind was still trying to find a way out of this -- still thinking that there was any hope of survival at all.
Finally, finally, you realized there was no escape. Nowhere for you to go, no clever plans to pull out of your asses last second.
This was it.
You turned to the Doctor, still frozen, still so sorry.
With an aggravated growl, you twisted him to face you. "If I'm gonna die," you started, "I am not gonna let it be without doing this." And you pulled his stupid stunned face down, your lips aggressively and desperately pressing to his in what may well be your first and only kiss.
The two of you separated for air, the Doctor looking stunned and you with a huge, stupid grin on your face. "Oh, I've been wanting to do that for ages," you said, love drunk.
"I can tell," he said, and it was the first time he'd spoken any words but "I'm so sorry" in a number of minutes.
Apparently, that was just the shock he needed, because he was suddenly himself again, and he was suddenly making clever plans and getting you out of deadly situations.
It really was a miracle you made it out of that, you thought as you followed him back to the TARDIS after everything had been wrapped up.
He unlocked the doors and went ahead of you, and you followed, dutiful as ever. You only paused when he did, looking up as he turned to face you.
"I believe we were in the middle of something?" he asked, with a shy but hinting smile.
You didn't need further prompting, though, to fly into his arms and pull him into another kiss.
