Last Desert Day (Part 2) With an important note at the end.

While Diego and Roman are on their way back to the base, Chloe has retreated to the bedroom after her errands. After she hadn't come out for a while, Peter went to check on her. “Hey, do you still have a bit of room in your shell?“/”hnhn, did you think I was going to hide away again?”.

Peter walked towards her with slow, ambling steps. “Well, whenever there's a big job coming up, you're hardly ever seen. Are you excited?"/ ‘No, hn…’/ ‘Or are you maybe scared?’/ ‘hh, no, it's all ok, I'm just… Thoughtful, that's all’/ ‘ok, and why, because of the mission?’/ ”No… Because of the time afterwards. I… I don't really want to go home…"/ ”Don't?!”.

“So, do you want to carry on here?”. She shook her head frantically. “N-no…"/ ‘then what?’. Chloe trembled a little with excitement. She had been thinking about this for a long time… “Is there any chance that… I could come with you for a while… to Korea?”/ “What?”/ “I called my aunt earlier and had a long talk with her. You know… After her, you've become the most important person to me, and, well… When I don't have you around, I feel kind of…"/ ‘Lonely?’ he asked her in a calm voice, looking her in the eye.

She shrugged her shoulders briefly. “Lonely and… lost. I know that when I get back home, I'd totally let myself go, I don't really have any friends there. I'd get bored at some point and then… I'd start eating too much again… I don't want that… I want…” Peter smiled again and then slowly and carefully took her hands in his. “To be with me?”.

Chloe wasn't expecting this gesture, but remained calm and withdrew from his gaze again for a moment. “But only if… you want me around you. I'd learn Korean if need be, if you don't necessarily want to be my interpreter, and…"/ ‘Chloe…’/ ‘I learn foreign languages quickly if I put my mind to it…’. He had to laugh because she couldn't stop talking. “hnhn, oh man, you're… really cute”.

Then she did look him in the eye, albeit fleetingly, “cute… O.k….”/ “Hn, Chloe… I think once I got home and unpacked my stuff… I'd probably miss your face and your laugh. I'd be bored as hell too and I'd miss it if you didn't wake me up from one of my countless nightmares at least once in a while”.

Without another word, he took her lovingly in his arms. “Peter…"/ He stroked her back as he looked out of the window and enjoyed her warmth… ”You really want to come with me? “ he asked her softly. “Mhm, yes… And I want to get to know your mom, your house, your great food…I'll probably miss my cat, but…"/ ‘We have one too, did I mention that?’/ ‘n-no…’/ ‘hn, you'll get to know her’.

After the hug . … “You really have a cat? What's her name?"/ ‘Deiji’. Chloe looked at him with amusement and then tried to repeat the name slowly. “Dei-dschi?"/ ”hnhn, yes, exactly…. Or if it's too difficult, just say daisy to her, that would be the correct translation…"/ ”hnhn, like the flower? I'll do that. Thank you, Peter…I'm looking forward to a good time…"/ ‘hn, yes, me too’.

While the others are still resting a little before they set off, Erin writes her last reports and prepares everything for the next officer, who will be staying at the base for the next few days. A replacement has already been arranged. “I think that's it. Yes, everything is ready. And if all goes well, we'll be there on Sunday”.

Later. Roman and Diego took care of the luggage that Erin really wanted to take with her. “That's all?"/ ”Well, if it were up to her, she would have taken more. But that's really the limit, unfortunately. And the parcels aren't light"/ ‘OK, oh boy, I hope it goes well’….

By early afternoon, all the important things that needed to be done before the flight had been taken care of. Now it was just a matter of waiting. Why? Well, due to the heat during the day, the helicopter absorbs a lot of heat, if only because of its color. So they waited until the evening, or even better until the night, until the entire machine had cooled down again. That way the engine runs better and the lady is not so sluggish.

It's just before 11 p.m. when the team makes its way to the helicopter together. “So, are you ready for the trip?"/ ”Sure. I'm excited to see what awaits us"/ ‘We'll make our first stopover in five hours’/ ‘But don't fall asleep at the wheel, Diego’/ ”Don't worry, I've got a few more energy drinks and with music in my headphones, it'll be a good flight. So… All aboard please”..

Once the entire team had taken their seats in the helicopter and the doors were closed, Diego slowly started up the old lady. Normally, this was done a few minutes before the passengers boarded. But today they didn't want to leave anything to chance. All the systems were working perfectly. And so they set off on the long journey - from summer to winter.

NOTE: Well, we know how it continued. We already saw the arrival of the team. Now I have to get on with producing new images. And it's proving quite difficult at the moment because of various game crashes. I still have a few older saves that I have to try out. Yesterday my game wouldn't save correctly (after 15 minutes of saving I ended it with the task manager). In any case, I hope that I can still come to a good conclusion here and that we can soon accompany the residents to their new home. So it will be a while before a new episode comes out. I hope your impatience doesn't bother you too much until then ^^. And as I already wrote, if all else fails, I'll have to invent a different ending. cu

First Kiss and First Girlfriend

After spending the day together, and Erin teasing Don about still being in his pajama's, friendly conversation began taking a turn towards flirting. Despite her higher rank than him, and the implication's it could bring in the base, Don figured it couldn't hurt to at least TRY his chances with Erin.

With the flirting going incredibly well Don tries going a step forward, taking his first kiss with Erin.

The feelings were clearly reciprocated, causing Don to muster up his courage to propose going steady with Erin, who was just as happy to agree to be his girlfriend!

The day couldn't have gone better than Don had hoped for. He had found love and they were now dating. A good end of the day would be having tofu hot dogs on a grill. Don can't imagine being in a better mood than he was in that moment!

Later. While Diego was taking care of dinner, Peter saw Chloe standing in the kitchen as well. She watched somewhat impassively as the food was prepared. “Everything all right? You seem a bit out of sorts.” She gave him a pained smile. “I'm … I'm trying to process everything we've been through in the last few weeks. And I really admire your courage, you're still so young and you've coped with it all much better than I have"/ ‘I was confronted with the subject of death at an early age’.

“What do you mean by 'early'?”. Peter's expression was calm and not at all sad. “I never knew my father, he died before I was born, I know that from my mother and also from the grave in the cemetery in Korea. When I was 8, my uncle died of pneumonia, two years later my grandfather…”. An oppressive feeling spread through Chloe's chest. “oh man, sorry…”.

Peter noticed that it was really bothering her emotionally. “Hey, it's all right. In our culture, we deal with the loss of loved ones differently. At least in my family. “/ “I see… I grew up with my aunt because my mother had mental health problems. I was always afraid that I might turn out like her. That was also one of the many reasons why I joined the military. I needed the distraction”.

While working on the PC, Erin didn't realize how quickly time was actually passing. It was only when she looked at the little clock on the PC that she realized how late it actually was. “Mmh, finally finished, oh boy. I remember now why I hate writing so much - these chairs are awful. I really need to get some exercise later. I'll do the rest tomorrow”…

The smell of freshly made dinner drifted into the office. And everyone was pretty hungry. The last meal was in the early hours of the morning. “And I thought you'd grown stuck in your chair"/ ”I had to summarize the reports from the last three months, which takes a while. You're welcome to do it next time, Mr. Swan!” said Erin, her voice resonating with irony.

“I want to see you again later in the office, Mr. Swan. Your report was a bit sloppy"/ ”sloppy? Aha… Give me a better helicopter, then the reports will be better too…"/ ‘I'm sure that has less to do with it…’/ ‘pff… I don't know what else there is to talk about’. The last sentence made Roman cough a little, as he had his own thoughts on the matter.

While people were discussing at one table, they were grateful at another. “Thank you for talking to me earlier, Peter. It's good therapy to be able to talk to someone who has experienced the same terrible things out there."/ ‘You could have talked to me earlier’/ ”hn, I didn't know you well enough. And I have to say it again… you were really brave out there"/ ‘hn, thank you’….

Roman watched Erin during the meal. She was always good at hiding her own emotions behind her serious expression. But He noticed how she kept glancing at Diego. “And how was my report, Colonel? Hopefully better than Diego's"/ ”it was acceptable, but you should urgently change the way you write a factual report. “/ “Hm? What was wrong with it?”.

“The way you wrote about the victims is sometimes very derogatory and aggressive”. Roman's look became a little gloomy. “It was their own fault that they bit the dust…”. She looked at him seriously for a moment without lifting her head. “Would you find it okay if someone wrote a report about you like that? Without a shred of decency and dignity?"/ ‘No… Certainly not’/ ‘Then try harder next time’.

“Have you contacted your relatives yet?"/ ”Sure, but they don't care whether I'm well or not. Our relationship has always been shitty,” Roman said in a harsh tone. Erin then looked at him, tilting her head slightly. “Maybe you should think about why that is” / ”Do you want to send me to the psychodoc too? No thanks"/ ”That's entirely up to you. I wish you all a good night then”. Erin got up without another word and walked back towards the office.

NOTE: I don't know who here watched the first episode about the helpers yesterday or not. (except for the heart pushers, thank you).^^ I know I'm now in a different household, in a completely different place, but a dear friend suggested to me that maybe I should change locations for a while because I had reached a point where I needed a change of scene in the story. So the suggestion that maybe we could bring the helpers to the forefront of the story for a bit came just in time. and I want to show Erin's reaction to Jack's email, as well as her further research.

Introducing the Weglein Family!

This is the home of Don Weglein, living in Sunset Valley close to the military base, making the commute to work an easy one.

Don was eager to head down to the base as soon as he was finished moving in and apply for a job. Being a Latrine Cleaner isn't glamorous but someone has to do it!

Eager to get himself into shape so he could impress the higher ups and, hopefully, move into a better position, Don begins working out. Deciding that a jog home would be a nice warm up.

After his jog Don is warmed up enough that he is ready to start using the workout equipment and begin building up his strength to impress his higher up's back at the base.

After a refreshing shower it's time to unwind with a nice dinner. Though Don doesn't have much stocked in his fridge as he had just moved in, he did have some Kraft Mac n' Cheese and figured it would be a nice, easy meal for the first night. He can't deny that he is excited for his first day of work in the morning but he has to keep focused on his cooking because the last thing Don wanted to eat was burnt mac n' cheese.

Now that it's morning it's Don's first day as a Latrine Cleaner, ready to face whatever messes that are waiting for him!

After a hard day of work, and wondering how latrine's could get so dirty over the course of a day, Don decides he would unwind by running on the treadmill. While he is running though he ends up tripping over his own feet and falling on the treadmill, only barely holding himself up so that he wasn't sent flying backwards and landing on his butt on the floor.

Tonight Don decided he was going to have himself a salad, something healthy as he needs to keep a healthy weight and he figures that he couldn't just eat mac n' cheese every night...even if it was kind of tempting.

After some time of working hard Don earned himself a promotion to Mess Hall Server! Though it isn't quite where he wanted to be just yet he was at least done dealing with latrines. The boss sent home a book for Don to study to help prepare him in understanding what it takes for the higher ranks and Don is determined to study and work towards his dream of becoming an astronaut.

On Don's first morning off since his promotion he decides he will spoil himself with some homemade waffles. It's a beautiful morning in Sunset Valley and Don get's to enjoy the morning view from his kitchen window and spend the day relaxing. Perhaps he would either work on some skills or maybe he should invite someone over?

Don decides to invite over his boss, Erin Kennedy. He was hoping to impress her with his tone body to show he was capable of handling more than serving meals, though Don was quite surprised just how pretty Erin actually was.
