And now onto how Kate interacts with the other proxies... phew! got this out in time for crp day.. Included: Tim, Brian, Toby, Rouge
Before getting into all the others.. Since the proxy Kate spends the most time with is herself I thought it'll be nice to.. have how she treats herself first. After the circumstances of STA she rarely gets time to take care of herself anymore. It's always victim after victim.. She finds herself thinking her body expendable; her empty stomach will heal after eating itself inside out, her broken limbs will always regenerate. Kate just doesn't treat herself very well...
TIM
Tim often takes the leadership role in any relationship and it's no different with the proxies and or specifically Kate.
Especially since she's one of the younger proxies alongside Toby, he feels the need to take care of her.
Kate doesn't think much of it when Tim finds her collapsed somewhere and brings her back to the cabin Brian, Toby, and him live.. She's happy that Tim takes care of her, i.e. gives her some food, tries to get her to shower, as she interprets it as Tim slowly starting to accept being a proxy and therefore starting to see the Slenderman as the savior he is!
She likes it when the proxies are nice to each other too so she savors the pampering she gets from Tim when injured..
BRIAN
Kate and Brian don't really interact much.
Kate only "visits" the cabin when the Slenderman teleports her broken body nearby and Brian mostly stays cooped up in his room until "hunts"
it's hard for them to actually cross paths with each other.
Brian is also a very apathetic being, stuck between his limbo of given life and death, he can't really experience empathy unless it's for someone he truly cares about (see Tim or Toby on the occasion).
He had to quickly pull Toby from falling to the belief that perhaps the Slenderman is good when he spent too much time with Kate and also some other stuff..
They both mainly stay out of each other's way when necessary.
I'm sure there's been a time that Kate accidentally stole his kill, not knowing the other proxies were already on the victim
Brian definitely got pissy because of that..
He had to be dissuaded from being petty by Tim
TOBY
That is his best friend right there. Probably. Hopefully.
Toby immediately latched on when he first met Kate while on a hunt.
She's actually around his age! Do you know how hard it is to find proxies that you could actually relate with that doesn't treat you like a child...!
Tim and Brian do think that she's a bad influence to Toby. He's quick to do anything to please if it means that someone would tolerate him and that doesn't bide well with Kate's admiration of the Slenderman and Rouge.
He also started cannibalizing some victims because of her.. He just thought it was sick and wanted to try.
Kate appreciates his company whenever it's available, but she doesn't actively seek him out.
Kate makes him not feel bad about just wanting to kill sometimes. It's just more power for the Slenderman either way, if he needs to let off some steam on a random person then go for it!
The thing about Kate is that she rarely speaks above a few grunts. She may spit out a few words, but that's usually it.. Toby likes translating what she's thinking (mostly getting it wrong, but the sentiment's there)
ROUGE
Above all, Rouge is the only proxy still integrated into everyday society. (Tim and Brian may go into town, but that isn't often.. Rouge actually has a nice suburban house..)
That makes it hard for Kate to visit.. It's very upsetting for her..
Rouge and Kate are a little co-dependent on each other.
Out of the proxies they're the ones that actually believe the Slenderman does good which is what initially brought them close to each other..
It's very much a peculiar relationship.. Kate has mommy issues while Rouge is still affected by her miscarriage all those years ago.
Their relationship is built on spontaneity I would say plus Rouge herself is already a very brash person..
Rouge is another person that takes care of Kate's wounds and also buys her things to take care of her burns and cleans her and takes care of her haiirr... a lot of things
Kate looks up to Rouge as she's taught her a lot on how to just past the time. Whether that be wood carving (which she in turn taught Toby), hunting, cooking, kissing ah they just like each other a lot..
The only difficult part of their relationship is the fact that the Slenderman has Rouge patrolling the South while Kate's mostly situated in the Midwest..

Happy late Mother’s Day to Lilyheart
#twigbranch#lilyheart#omen of the stars#a vision of shadows#the broken code#a starless clan#warrior cats#warriors#lilyheart is canonically short and I like to imagine that with her nwme Twigbranch has to be tall. so they’re hilarious to me#I LOVE these two so dearly. lilyheart is a such a good mom to twig#I’d daresay she might be the best protagonist mother tied with Dovewing#twig is very fond of her from books 1-5 of avos#she’s kinda weird and acts as if she doesn’t have much bond w her in book 6 but twig is weirdly harsh all that book (it’s the one where she#-is really bad abt mentoring flypaw and being pressured by finleap so I tend to just attribute her behavior that book to her being stressed#but nonetheless what they do get that’s good is REALLY good#they get to have so much on screen time together and lilyheart is SO fond of her#she reassures twig and sees her as her own daughter 100%#she talks about how she feels she has all her kits back with her when twig rejoins thunderclan <3#she even defends twig from Bramblestar in the first a starless clan book. the Erins very well could have forgotten their relationship-#-but I choose to believe that was on purpose#twig also has a sweet relationshio w ivypool too where ivypool being her first mentor and lilyheart being her adoptive mom come ans-#congradulate her when she finally passes her asssesment. twigbranch is THE found family warrior cat#anyway idea of the piece is lilyheart being there from twig’s kithood (morning) to her being a warrior (night) just through the passage-#of time#and with that the light moves from the left to the right#illustration

The Hansens and the way Federation citizens acted in the early 24th Century reminded me of this speech from The West Wing:
youtube
BARTLET: [pause] Did you know that two thousand years ago a Roman citizen could walk across the face of the known world free of the fear of molestation? He could walk across the earth unharmed, cloaked only in the words 'Civis Romanis' I am a Roman citizen. So great was the retribution of Rome, universally understood as certain, should any harm befall even one of its citizens. (source)
Doctors Erin and Magnus Hansen had the hubris of people living in a golden age, in a world that never wanted anything. I bet they even had the unconscious false sense of security that they would always be saved, somehow.
(This is why families and children lived in ships like the Enterprise D, the hubris of living in a golden age.)
They had the hubris of scientists who thought they were too smart and could get away with anything and that was the trouble-- not only were they reckless but they were being innovative and smart right next to the Borg.
They brought in a Borg Drone into their ship with the designation: Three of Five, Tertiary Adjunct of Unimatrix Zero.
They didn't even put up a force field between the Borg Drone and Baby Annika.
Tumblr media
Little Annika was right there! She's standing right next to the Borg whose role she will one day take over.
(Also, I guess, Seven's penchant for cozy knitted sweaters is something she got from her parents. I wonder if Seven found out or never did.)
I don't doubt they loved Annika and thought this was the best way to be together while also pursuing something they love to do. But they were also foolish and reckless and relied too much on luck.
And they were studying people like they were animals in the wild, and not treating them with any respect.
'Let's tag him," Magnus tells Erin as if they're releasing a chimp out in the wild.
Erin and Magnus Hansens were the smartest, dumbest people in the quadrant.

Michaela Stirling
I'm definitely going to regret dropkicking myself into this conversation but....
I fucking love what they've done with John and Francesca this season, I think it's a great change of pace from the hyper-passionate, demonstrative love stories we've seen so far on Bridgerton. I'm also super excited for Francesca and Michaela's season, and for the way Michaela's gender is going to play into that.
Because yes, her gender is going to change some aspects of the story. There'll be less pushback against the two of them living together (Francesca has to temporarily move back into Bridgerton house because even as a widow she can't live alone in the same house as Michael, her cousin-in-law) and likely more pressure on Francesca's pregnancy due to the lack of an heir that's both known to the remaining members of the family and willing to provide for them (I think they actually are going to do a version of Francesca's struggle with infertility, I just think that the way they handle it is going to be very different). Characters are probably going to lean harder on Francesca to remarry, and depending on how the ton perceives Michaela (the general vibe on Bridgerton is that society doesn't take issue with men like Anthony or Colin sleeping around, but women like Daphne and Prudence risk ruin for being alone with a man) her family will likely want her to marry as well. (My guess is that Michaela will be charming as hell and the toast of the season, there'll just be fewer rumors about who she has and hasn't slept with.)
I'm curious to see how they continue to navigate queer sexualities in the Regency era, even in a story that plays as fast and loose with history as Bridgerton. I'm pretty okay with how they handled Benedict, Tilley, and Paul this season, and I'm optimistic as hell for watching Francesca and Michaela grow and change together.
My one real worry is an extremely modern one. As much as I love all the edits to "Good Luck Babe" that I've been seeing on Tik Tok, I really don't want them to frame Francesca as a lesbian. I really love the idea of Francesca's relationship with John being something real and true and valid -- she loved him, she was attracted to him, she wanted kids with him, she mourned him to hell and back when he died-- and over the course of the story, she grows to want something different -- not more or less, but different-- with Michaela. They can still tease each other, they ca still push each other out of their shells, they can still be best friends who fall apart when they lose the person who mattered most to both of them, and fall back together when they risk losing each other. The heart of the story can still be the same-- changing Michael to Michaela only changes the skeleton.
Does that make any sense?

asking someone to choose the “best social media corner of the WC fandom” is a bit unfair because they’re all like an entirely different internet culture of fans, WC twitter isn’t going to be the same as WC tumblr and those two are definitely not going to be the same as WC Reddit

*putting on a moustache and sunglasses*
So like what’s the deal with ghosted what’s that about
now see the deal with Ghosted is that it's not what happens within the events of the film that captivates me so much, though don't get me wrong i love this film to bits, but rather, it's the idea of what happens after the whole thing that makes me FUCKING NUTS
because the whole thing is relatively cut and dry in the sense that we don't have to guess about what happened before and we don't have to guess about how everybody is feeling in the present. we know (MOST) important characters backgrounds and what they're doing at Falkhill and slowly revealing Paul's context was pretty interesting if not a little abrupt at the end there but its the very last scene of this film down to the very frame that flips the whole hour and a half you just watched over on its head and prevents me from getting a good night's sleep because i can't stop thinking about it
ELABORATING WITH A LOT OF SPOILERS UNDER THIS
explaining the plot of this movie is hard without sounding like im writing a pretentious review and not just talking out of my ass on tumblr but for my followers who haven't watched this movie and dont care enough to: Ghosted (2011) is set in a british prison in which Jack (John Lynch) is a long time prisoner who's wife just dumped him apparently on the anniversary of their sons death (tough break) and is being advised by his friend and cellmate Ahmed (Art Malik) (who does NOT get HALF as much screen-time or plot relevance as he DESERVES,) to find something to put his mind to and be proud of outside of his failures Paul (Martin Compston) is a prisoner who was just transferred out of a Young Offenders prison AS FAR AS WE'RE TOLD... though its noticeable from the beginning that hes not a very good liar and his story is suspicious at best Clay (Craig Parkinson) is kindof The Guy of their prison wing whos dealing drugs to other prisoners and assumes the position of authority over everybody else, though compared to other inmates with bigger cliques, his foundations are shaky. the description of this film on letterboxd calls him "the wing beast" and i have never cried laughing so hard reading something in my life
Clay and Jack both hone in on Paul immediately for different reasons. Jack, after his pep talk with Ahmed, sees Paul as a source of "a little self belief, something to be proud of", but Clay scoops him under his wing for being relatively young and impressionable. This puts Jack and Clay at odds with each other. after some plot, Paul gets into very big trouble with Clay and after An Incident is promptly plopped into Jacks hands, who had requested Paul move into his cell earlier but didn't have a good enough excuse for it. Well You've Got A Bloody Good Reason Now ect ect
Jack and Paul buddy up immediately and its noticable that Paul is sort of filling in the empty space where a son would be for Jack, however we discover that Paul has been lying about his past to everybody, including Jack. he lied about his family and he lied about having only just been transferred from Y.O. and hadn't been telling the whole truth about his sentence. what the truth ends up being, in a nutshell, is that Paul is accidentally responsible for the death of Jack's son, having been the one who started the house fire he died in (we were never even told that Jack's son died in a house fire before this, we are only told this in Paul's flashback at the end of the movie and are supposed to act, like, surprised?? whatever). consequentially, Jack flips his lid and prompts my personal favorite scene in this film in which he beats the living shit out of Paul with his bare hands and immediately regrets it the second the adrenaline wears off, hitting an alarm button within the cell that alerts the guards.
the guards whisk him away and he is put in solitary confinement, which we find out was actually the first sequence of the film where hes shown with an absurdly long beard, and considering every other fucking scene he's in is of him shaving his face, i assume this is to show just how long he's been kept in solitary confinement, which quite honestly was kindof exciting to realize at the end of the film.
and then. the end scene.
after solitary, Jack is put in cuffs and brought to see Paul who looked Extremely Dead after Jack had him, but hes not dead! just almost dead. Jack is sat next to him and tries to apologize but starts to cry, reaching out a hand to hold Paul's but retracting it regretfully. Paul, having looked unconscious not five seconds before, moves his hand to place it over Jack's...
and then the movie ends. and i am left writhing on my floor in anguish BUT NOT BEFORE I EXPLAIN TO YOU THAT THIS
Tumblr media
THIS is what the deal is with Ghosted
the pathetic gestures of "im sorry" and "its okay" are what kill me. sorry is nowhere near enough to justify anything that EITHER of them did, NOR should they be forgiven. AND YET.
and what gets my gears going is the thought of what everything looks like AFTER this scene. after they've bonded so close and after Jack already thought that Paul stopped lying to him, thinking that he could protect Paul from Clay now... after they started to fill the spaces for people they were missing in their lives... and after they've RUINED each others lives. They Have Ruined Each Others Lives and yet Paul probably would have had to DELIBERATELY ASK for them to bring Jack to see him because he just BEAT Paul within an INCH of his life and would NOT !! have brought Jack to see him upon Jack's own request!! Paul would have wanted to see him too!! after all this what does their relationship look like now... the image of father and son has been all but shattered in each other's eyes, one can assume, but are they still close... does the guilt and responsibility drift them apart or does it pull them inseparably together? Ahmed tells Jack that "there is no such thing as coincidence, only fate" but what does their fate look like... does it end here or does it mean that they're together indefinitely? the end of this film swings the door wide open and i think about it. way too often. unacceptably often, even.
all in all theres no reason that this should be my favorite film but it is. if nothing else it's made me look into the other actors involved and branch out with a to-watch list as long as my arm that will only get longer once i branch out from there. is it the perfect movie? no this film is mediocre at best. have i made a number of my friends sit down and watch it and listen to me yell incoherently about it? of course i have.

WHAT'S TO STOP ME FROM MAKING HIM WATCH THEM, HUH?
IT WOULD ONLY TAKE A FEW CLICKS.
[ REGARDS, HABIT ]
(( Yes, from @habitual-creatures , he's being a bastard rn. Trying to get a reaction. ))
You'd probably lose control if you did that, wouldn't you?
Plus what would you gain from that?
Get out of here, leave me alone.

trying to organize my thoughts on the lack of realistic ecology in warriors, but it keeps turning into rambles. instead here's a post on animals that are referenced in the series, but are mysteriously absent
most insects/inverts (minus ticks, fleas): where are the bees - we know medicine cats use honey, but how are they getting it out of a hive? do riverclan cats get leeches? i want to see kits playing with beetles and snails and stuff.
hedgehogs: wouldn't apprentices have to be warned about pouncing on something that smells like prey, but is covered in thorns? we're missing out on some comedic potential here
wolves: namesake for some clan cats, and mentioned by tribe cats, but never encountered. would make an interesting intelligent predator, but would probably also wipe out the clans.
turtles (and by extension, tortoises): namesake, but never seen as far as im aware. to be fair, probably wouldn't be too interesting to cats, who wouldn't be able to kill/eat them anyway.
deer: there's a dead one in oots. shouldn't thunderclan cats worry more about getting trampled by them? or get to use shed antlers to decorate camp.
otters: theres a scene in dark river where hollypaw is visiting willowpaw and to avoid being caught, rolls in otter dung. otters are great, why do they never show up? they could be of comparable intelligence to cats, and if nothing else would be an annoyance to riverclan as they compete for fish.

You may have answered this before, but how are you handling characters that don't believe in starclan, like mothwing and cloudtail? Personally I thought it was interesting when reading the books, considering cloudtail, but only to a point because it's very hard to write atheist characters in a setting where there's undeniable proof of the gods/spirits/etc. Like, how did they explain the literal forces of heaven and hell battling on earth??
As An Atheist Myself ™ I have a lot of feelings about the two of them. I think the short answer is just that in a setting where gods are literally undeniable facts of life, "Atheism" looks more like Dystheism, the belief that they exist, but are not worthy of worship.
That seemed to be the conclusion at the end of Mothwing's... i forgor the name of her novella 💀Mothflight's Blaspheme Boogie. It's actually why it's one of my favorite novellas, I really like the way it closes out with Mudfur trying to sales pitch StarClan's goodness to her, she doesn't buy a fucking penny of it, and ultimately concludes that the comfort it provides to her Clanmates is valuable to them but doesn't have to be for her.
So that's how I want to handle them. They have an outsider perspective to the fact that this is a theocracy, based on gods that can be vindictive and vengeful. Scourge/Iceheart is also joining these two, he actually is going to have a minor but important role in Squirrelflight's Horror as a ghost basically giving insight to what happens when you don't worship StarClan when you die.
With him and Mothwing I really know what I'm doing. Mothwing is insight to Leafpool, especially in TNP where she is now a POV, and observing how the though of StarClan influences the behavior of the cats around her. Scourge is killed in the Great Battle and serves as a ghost to witness their trial. Cloudtail...
Cloud's still evolving. He's going to be a supporting character with Ferncloud in her SE and exploring the feelings he has towards Ashfur, now his apprentice, becoming a villain. How he did his job perfectly, raised him with a deep respect towards the warrior code, and that lead to the person he is today. How he couldn't have done things "better" because this DID raise him the way his society expected him to.
But his dystheism is kind of secondary to that. I think the story I've got for him is fine so far, but it needs more of an 'ending' that I can't decide on until they finally kill him in the main books.
#Bone babble#honestly chief I hate that Cloudtail is still alive#I wish that ThunderClan lost an elder in that last outbreak#I profoundly dislike how the elder's den contains 4 cats the Erins found too marketable to kill#3 of them from the same litter#In my heart Brackenfur died in Po3 and Brambleclaw followed him as deputy#And Thornclaw is a villain#It's FRUSTRATING that they can't let go of these TPB cats and their dynamics as a group are boring#They're nothing like the elder's den in TPB because THAT elder's den actually had dynamics#One-eye was old and wise but hard to get information out of because of her age#Smallear was a frequent problem and extremely nasty#Half and Patch were more friendly and welcoming especially to Cloudpaw#That's good!#But THIS elder's den is generic nice old people now. If they even get screentime at all#Wasted opportunity to turn Thornclaw into the new Smallear#especially since we had a whole thing with Nightheart being a brat#You could have swapped the Bracken cameo with any other elder and it would have been the same#Cloudtail should have been dead by now#Dead actually doing something#In fact fuck like... ONE change to the warrior series without changing anything else?#Cloudtail should have gone into the DF to confront ashfur not fucking Graystripe#Squilf's cousin and ashfur's adopted brother#graystripe stop DOING this to me I LIKE you im one of the only people in my circle who DOES#You're ANNOYING with how much screentime you soaked up you dripping wet writer's pet#Cloudtail hasn't done anything in like 20 years#He's still completely coasting off being a TPB cat#Can't believe this turned into Yelling at Cloudtail hour
