Happy @acotargiftexchange to the lovely @dusk-muse — surprise, I’m your Secret Santa!! 💌 I’ve had so much fun simping for Neris with you, so I wrote you a fic! Before we get to I Bet on Losing Dogs, though, I’ve drawn you 5 Character Cards to introduce & visualize the story a little better.

Can't stop thinking about how Nesta was initially created for Autumn Court. She was supposed to be Lucien's mate before SJM realized their characters don't work exactly well and that he is a bit too soft for her, probably.

But the Autumn aesthetic and nature is still there, she is Lady Death. Which court resonates with that the most if not the Court of Decay. That's why Nesta and Eris have such amazing chemistry and just feel so organic together because he turned out to be the male archetype SJM had envisioned for Nesta all along. Not Lucien, not Cassian. It was Eris all along the embodiment of Nesta's perfect partner.

Being said I wonder what is the history behind Eris calling Melinoe "Trouble." The obvious answer is that they're exes and leave it at that but also. Calling someone "Trouble" means like, they're a big danger/risk/bad influence. And we know Mel is anything but a bad influence (Little Miss Perfect). I can see Mel meeting Eris for the first time and being like "you're trouble!" and Eris finds that cute/hilarious and starts calling her that ironically.

Then again, for Strife Incarnate, maybe being in a relationship is trouble. Icarus mentions that Eris tends to hang around the Crossroads and follow Mel around. And the fight we have with her is not different from that really. But it does influence Eris's plans/goals/actions. You know what they say about relationships - how they tie people down to a place/a person (for better or for worse). For a free spirit like Eris who doesn't let any social norms or rules tie her down, that's a bit of "trouble" right there wouldn't you say?

Daydreamed this whole cruise neris story idea today while an alpaca tried to eat my fingers (don't ask).

Imagine, the Valkyrie's taking a cruise vacation because Nesta is hurting after a bad break up. And Eris is the Captain. Except unbeknownst to Nesta, he also owns the cruise company.

Boom. Romance on the seas....

And then both Toga and Eri could discover what they want to do with their lives and they could learn their identities outside of their trauma and quirks and hgsdgdgdgshdj :(!!

Not dissing on anyone in particular but it's interesting to see people trying to retroactively justify or otherwise "call out" on the fact that Melinoe has no connection to her birth family. It's the Point I'd say. And thematically, she's likely never coming "home" for real. Cause it was never home. Can no longer be home and all.

The writing of women in Drakengard is rlly amazing where YT is at the helm bc in DOD1 you have them making all the right decisions with the themes, story, etc. and them going "oh that was fucking AWFUL, we're never doing that again wtf were we thinking lol" and then they're like "this is how you make a REAL videogame woman" and pull shit from a horses ass
