"[...] And since the soul cannot be torn from the flesh, you must resist the temptation to try to take your partner’s soul into your own body and shelter it there, as that will result in both your deaths. Even if it were possible, it would be an abomination to have multiple consciousnesses in one body." - [Glaedr, Eldest 441]
Since I first read Eragon more than ten years ago, I've been making characters to fit into the world. The most recent of these is a young woman named Immogen! She's definitely an odd duck and the POV character for the fanfic that lives rent free in my head.

Fixed version of a previously posted sketch. Who else thinks that Eragon constantly has a wild-dragon-hatchling-tagalong on his shoulder during his Arngor duties? Because he definitely does. This one is Lucien, for those that are wondering. He’s a wild silver dragon and a distant cousin to Vervarda.

Bouncing off this post about Murtagh and marriage, once he’s gotten comfortable with someone, how do we think he acts in his crush/accepting he’s falling in love with them phase? And do we think he’s the jealous type (I personally think once he’s been with someone a long time, he trusts them enough to find some amusement in someone else hitting on them - in the beginning or crush stage, not so much)? Reblog with your thoughts!

So I wanted to post this here. These are ocs: Torch Dakari, a Jedi Knight turned into a Dragon Rider, and his dragon Kisara. This is based on a crossover story that I want to write about: Star Wars and the Inheritance Cycle (Eragon). Credit goes to Kaela Croft (@kaelacroftart) • Instagram photos and videos

I don't recall if any of the mad eldunarí belong to any of the forsworn's dragons, (haven't read the books in 5 years and only 1/4 way through Brisingr rn) but there must be at least one, right?
I think it would be neat for a new ra'zac (maybe one raised among humans) to get ahold of it somehow and find a way to communicate with it.
Their minds can't be reached so like, maybe holding the eldunarí lets them hear the dragon's thoughts? Maybe as if they were their own? Or maybe something like feeling words forming on their skin?
Anyway, what if the dragon is able to properly communicate with someone for the first time since the banishing of the names because the ra'zac exist outside of the ancient language's magical network and so talking to a ra'zac doesn't count as naming themselves

Mecarevainen, Mecare or Meca for friends. Pronounce the "c" like a "sh" and you're golden.
This bird brought magic to Neseah. There's many ways to channel magic - drawing power from the things around you, from yourself, from a magical creature. These kinds of spells are often done through sheer willpower, and can be highly dangerous.
According to legend, Mecarevainen sought out Ulevan of Neseah, the nation's founder, because she was a powerful mage looking to protect her small territory from their larger neighbors. Linking their very souls together, he gave her the gift of runes - birthing the modern magical system most wizards use to this day.
It is unclear whether or not Mecarevainen is still alive today.
After all, the easiest way to kill a phoenix is for them to be soul-bonded to someone, and have that person die.

me: I should, perhaps, stick to what is explored in the canon when making ocs
me: These are my Inheritance Cycle ocs. One is a teenage noble who had to run away after volatile dragon magic fused an Eldunarí to her body. The other is an elven rider whose dragon’s body died so she sang a ship around his Eldunarí and now she’s a pirate with a sentient galleon. I refer to both as indlvarn

my favorite fantasy worldbuilding thing is when a town or location has The Tree.
Oh, that? That’s The Tree that brings our town life and light. It’s a metaphor for our community and when it dies dramatically that’s when we know things are bad. It’s The Tree.
so much symbolism potential. love it.
