there's ALSO hilarity potential in the princess luz AU w amity being like "okay. so he's your cousin on a technicality but like barely acts like your cousin and is basically your brother but you don't call him your brother and you guys are a lot weirder and clingier than i've ever been with my siblings but you're also definitely not lovers so what..... what DO you call him" and luz being like "he's just hunter :) he's my special little guy :)" while hunter, who's been listening to and watching this entire exchange bc he's around luz All The Fucking Time, is like [inb4 amity can say it herself] "i'm her pet dog. woof."

This chapter has this AU's equivalent of the Wishverse:
Which is also a thing I will use to lay out one meta-point on writing and that this reinforces one of the key points of what this AU actually does with Tara. First, the Wishverse is very direct foreshadowing of later plot points. Given this story's framing the question that Willow's powers have destructive elements and of Dark Willow are there in the forefront for someone already consumed by self-loathing before she gets the news she's going to destroy the world.
Canon Vampires Willow and Xander deal with their potential bi aspects, which were established differently for Willow in this AU and will be built in with Xander in a collegiate aspect as well as showcasing that the heroes have dark sides. Here the AU Wishverse shows that the hero with the darkness theme is in fact actually heroic....and that brings me to the other point.
As I've said before at that meta sense Tara Maclay was meant to be replacement Willow because Whedon's writing approach meant there was a 'niche' here and she was selected to fill it. Tara's meta-aspects with this pervade the story at multiple levels and shape her arc well beyond the love interest factor, where her being the product of a physically abusive background with complicated feelings with Willow and around from the start also make her a feminine and less creepy Xander equivalent to a point, which is one reason they get along so well (that and he does accept she's gay without any problems).
Wishverse Tara as such is a nod to this, with her taking on aspects of the canon Vampire Willow's role in one way and demonstrating that in the right circumstances Tara very much can enjoy having demony dark magic things, which is also a thing that, lest people forget, Amber Benson wrote into her own take on the character in that recent Audible series. She's also the nod to a proper version of Book Dracula, where Buffyverse Drac is very different to the Count.
Like in the book she's a vampire who's had a great deal of mystical studying and aspires to be a vampire-ruler....and like in the book she's developed the capacity to daywalk which book Drac not only did, but does so more than once.
Also unlike the canon it's point blank established that the Wishverse is an existing alternate universe whether or not it was always that way or sprang into being (which is a separate question entirely and gets way too Sandman-ish for me to decide to concretely answer or not) and that the undoing of the wish did not, in fact, end life in that world.

Seeing a lot of people start hate on Helluva and how it portrays Greed compared to Lust And Gluttony, so let’s get into my 2 cents. This may be controversial, but I do think Helluva portrayed the sins well and here’s why.
Yes, on the outside, Mammon is definitely the most asshole of the sins we’ve seen so far, but this DOESN’T mean that Bee or even Ozzie are angels.
First of all, Bee ONLY stopped Blitz because he was indulging for PRIDE, not for Gluttony. With all of her other guests, she was more than okay with letting them get complete shit faced to a destructive degree.
Tumblr media
As for Ozzie, it’s been proven via “Ozzie’s” that he okay with cheating, going so far as to praise Stolas for it. He’s aware Stolas risked everything for the affair, and praised him for doing so. He straight up encourages people to be as kinky and as nasty as they possibly can. Basically for him, if it’s consensual, go wild.
Tumblr media
(Not to mention, he’s in a healthy, loving GAY relationship with his jester. While not inherently bad, it’s more than enough to make a deeply traditional Christian faint. Which does kind of seem to be the goal for the show.)
In the end: Ozzie and Bee are just as destructive as Mammon is. HOWEVER, they are so in a way where it’s not as obvious and they’re not as bad because of it.
Because they only fully indulge in Lust and Gluttony 110%, they’re still able to be relatively decent people because completely indulging in those sins doesn’t inherently make you an asshole. It can make you hella harmful, especially mixed with other sins, but on their own they’re somewhat manageable. (I say somewhat because again: cheating and health destruction are a thing).
Also it should be noted that despite being nice people Bee and Ozzie are still HORRIBLE influences. Like if they’re those people who your parents will disapprove of you being friends with.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But besides that, you can be lustful and gluttonous to 110% and still be a nice person to be around. Not a good person, but a nice one.
HOWEVER, you cannot be greedy to the max and be a nice person.
Here’s the thing; Mam, Bee, and Oz don’t have limits to their own sins. All 3 are still destructive as hell, it’s just that Bee and Oz’s sins allow them to have healthy relationships DESPITE that.
Bee, for all her faults, is a wild party girl. However, her gluttonous nature also allows her to completely indulge in love and affection, hence why she can have such an adorable relationship with Tex.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ozzie is equally as wild but is also horny and kinky as fuck. But it works because Fizz is just as crazy in bed as he is, and arguably even crazier in general. Fizz is a kinky little gremlin who not only makes Ozzie laugh, but more importantly can keep up with him. That’s part of what allows them to be as happy and wholesome as they are.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mammon however, cannot be at his sin 110% and keep a relationship. It’s just not possible and I honestly don’t think he wants a relationship with someone anyway, as that means he’d have to share something with another person, which he is simply not capable of doing.
Tumblr media
In the end, all the sins are destructive. That’s just fact. However, because of their specific sins (and the fact that they don’t mix with the others), some are able to hold up healthier lifestyles and relationships than others.

Once Theo returned from his trip, you somehow managed to minimise the little time you spent together, making barely convincing, half-baked excuses whenever you could. Still, he never commented on it. Perhaps he would have if he actually cared. You weren't sure if you were shutting him out to punish him or yourself.
Still, even you couldn't get out of spending time with your boyfriend entirely, which was how the two of you ended up in your dorm on a Thursday afternoon, working through your homework. You were sitting propped up by your numerous cushions, proof-reading an essay while Theo leaned against on the bed posts at the foot of your bed, reading a Potions book to help with his project.
The two of you worked in silence, equally absorbed in your work - or so you assumed until you heard Theo close his book and set it aside. Without warning, he shifted towards you, and before you could flinch or put more distance between you, his arms were encircling your waist and his head was resting on your abdomen.
You froze. This was the closest he had been since before the trip. You weren't sure if you had even hugged him when he returned.
You shoved down the stab of amusement in your gut. Theo was hardly the playful kind, but every once in a while, when your schedules allowed for it, he would be in a good enough mood to fool around with you in a manner that did justice to the expression. The two of you could lose entire afternoons to whispered giggles, frisky hands, and smothering kisses. Even now, your hand twitched with the instinct to comb through his soft, silky curls.
But while you normally found it endearing, today it was irritating, because you were in a fight with him, albeit one-sided.
"What...are you doing?" you asked in a bored monotone.
He shifted his head like he was getting comfortable. "Taking a nap."
You refused to pull your eyes away from your essay when Theo failed to elaborate. "With me?"
Theo sighed, like he thought you were being purposely difficult. "Yes, you."
Too thrown off to keep up the act, you finally looked up, watching the tiny shadows his long eyelashes cast against his face tanned from one too many summer Quidditch practices. "Why?"
He cracked an eye open and smiled lazily at you, half-drowsy. It wasn't fair how seductive his perpetual bedroom eyes typically were, let alone when they were laced with actual exhaustion. Despite yourself, you felt a flicker of satisfaction over being the only one who got to see him like this - uninhibited and free.
The satisfaction didn't last long. Without any warning, Theo plucked your essay out of your hand, casting it aside as he sat up with a teasing glint in his eye.
"Why? Would you prefer I take a nap with Mattheo?"
He was so close, you were sure he could hear your heart racing. Your mouth went dry. Days of subtly dodging his kisses or making excuses to sit away from him had gone down the drain. The thing about Theo's gaze was that it carried an intensity that demanded answers and explanations. Even as your pulse flickered under his relentless stare, you rolled your eyes without any real heat. "No, of course n-"
Theo leaned in, backing you up against your headboard. Your hands clenched in your sheets restlessly, aching to reach out to him. You struggled to focus on the words coming out of his mouth, dizzy with the proximity. "Is this your way of getting me to sleep with my best friend?"
You could feel it - your face was fully scarlet by now. Honestly, how on earth were you meant to come off calm and collected with a face that gave you away at the drop of a hat?
You shivered as he ran a hand up the skin exposed by your top riding up. You finally caved, settling your hands on his collar. "You're a real comedian, you know that?" you muttered, trying and failing to play it cool as your hands slithered into his hair, dragging him closer.
Theo obliged, hovering over you, broad-shouldered, not half the mess you were underneath him. Not yet, at least. "Next you'll be telling me you want to watch, you little perv."
Your lips twisted into a poorly suppressed smile. "It's why you love me."
"Your voyeuristic tendencies?"
You hummed as his lips finally connected to your pulse. As one of his hands started creeping up your ribcage, you were starting to remember why you put up with him. "Exactly."
You didn't hear what he had to say after that, blissfully distracted by the exhilarating feeling of his skin on yours.
"Cara..." Theo sighed, his breath ghosting the shell of your ear.
"Hmm?"
All too frustratingly soon, he pulled his hands away. He pressed a lingering kiss to your temple. You fought the overwhelming urge to cry. Moments like these proved that he was soft and pliant underneath that rough exterior. As he leaned back, you tenderly brushed back a lock of hair falling in his eyes. Why couldn’t he love you the way you loved him?
"Do you want to tell me why you've been freezing me out?"
The giddy feeling in your stomach died almost immediately. Maybe he wasn't as oblivious as you had thought. Your teeth dug into your swollen bottom lip. You hadn't expected a confrontation, especially not half-naked, though you were beginning to realise it was an oversight on your part. The direct person that he was, Theo was never one for playing games or beating around the bush. You felt your head start to pound, suddenly feeling far too exposed in more ways than one. You distractedly started rebuttoning your shirt before he stopped you.
"Tesoro..." he prompted softly. You heard the firm message hidden in his tone - no more deflecting. You bit the inside of your cheek, gaze fixed on the strong, slender fingers covering yours. It was the closest you had gotten to holding hands.
You felt the absurd urge to laugh. It was laughable, wasn't it? How tragically ironic the whole thing was? You had liked that Theo was low maintenance, but somewhere along the way you decided that low maintenance wasn't enough for you.
You shook your head, finally accepting defeat. How long did you think you could keep up the charade? How long did you think you could tolerate this misery? Indefinitely? Of course not. As soon as you had watched him step off the carriage, still as fresh-faced and only a little quieter than usual, you had known - you were going to have to tell them, and after one awkward conversation, the two of you would part ways, and he would fade into obscurity over the years, only to be remembered as some guy you had dated when you hadn't known any better.
This was it. The beginning of the end.
"Why didn't you tell me about Katherine?"
You thought saying that would be much harder than it was. But then again, you had nothing to lose - not that you ever had anything to lose.
Theo raised his eyebrows slightly. "Ka-"
"Katherine Sawyer," you hissed. After weeks of avoiding bringing it up, it suddenly felt unbearable, having to wait one moment longer for the answer. "You know, the one you've been cosying up with every other night?"
"I only know one Katherine," Theo started irritably. "Just the one. And I haven't spoken to her since we wrapped up our Transfiguration project before I left for my trip. You remember, the one worth half our grade?"
"...oh." Oh, indeed.
"This isn't like you, Y/N," Theo pressed. "You've never cared about who I talk to. You've always trusted me."
The implication stung. "I don't care who you talk to," you protested. "I still trust you."
And it was true - you had only very briefly, if at all, entertained the idea of Theo having an affair. Even then, it was a notion borne of weeks of exhaustion from catering to your aconite's every little need. But it had been the spark for your brooding resentment.
"I just wish you had told me about her or mentioned her some time. It feels - " Your breath caught. "It felt like you were keeping secrets from me."
Theo's jaw ticked. He let out an exasperated sigh.
"Then why didn't you just ask me?"
You dropped your eyes.
"Dunno. Just...didn't want you to get mad."
His eyebrows disappeared into his hair.
"Didn't want me to get mad?" Theo echoed incredulously. "Honestly, L/N," he said sharply, looking more than a little peeved, "what did you think I was going to do?"
"I don't know," you wailed, closer to tears than ever, "break up with me?"
Theo opened his mouth to respond before closing it again. He furrowed his brow, mouthing indecipherable half-words as if trying very hard to wrap his head around what you were saying. Then, without warning, he pulled you close, wrapping his arms around you.
"Right," he finally said, with the air of someone washing their hands of some uselessly challenging task. You could barely focus on his words with the thrill running under your skin. Theo didn't mind being hugged - it was one of the frills he indulged you in - but he wasn't exactly the hugging type. "Next time something's bothering you, I want you to stop what you're doing and come find me."
You twisted your head out of his chest with some difficulty. "What if you're-"
"No - no exceptions," he continued, tightening his hold around you. "No letting it spiral into - whatever this was-"
"So," you interrupted shakily, "you're not breaking up with me?"
Theo glanced down at you, looking like he was going to have a coronary.
"No," he said, with some effort, staring at you like you'd grown a third head. "I'm not." He tilted his head, still squinting at you. "Are you sure you've been growing your aconite properly? It seems like it's been screwing with your head."
"Hey," you scowled, wriggling out of his grasp and giving him a dirty look. "I'll have you know Professor Sprout thinks my mandrakes are -"
But you never got to what Professor Sprout thought about your mandrakes, because you had spotted a familiar teasing glint in Theo's eye.
"About time you started taking it out on me," he laughed, blocking your spirited yet ineffective efforts in shoving him off your bed. You flopped onto your pillows once you gave up, flushed with bedraggled hair. Served you right for dating a 200-pound brute of a guy. "I was starting to think you were going to keep that all bottled up forever."
"Yeah?" you panted, embarrassingly out of breath. "Just you wait. I'm not...finished. It's going to be two more weeks of...of this...once I-"
"- catch your breath, darling?"
You glared at him. Theo could make anything sound salacious while looking perfectly innocent, a trait that was especially inconvenient during some of your shared lessons. You debated giving him the finger, but that would only further amuse him.
Besides, you were feeling very comfortable lying on your mountain of pillows and cushions. You closed your eyes for just a minute. "Dead man walking, Nott," you mumbled, pushing back the hair that had plastered to your forehead.
You opened your eyes when you felt him rest his head on your abdomen once again, his arms coming up around your hips.
"I'm serious about the nap, though," Theo said. "Jet lag is a bitch and Mattheo's going to take the piss out of me if I'm too tired to show up for practice."
You softly carded your fingers through his hair, your fingernails barely grazing his scalp. "Yeah, yeah, sure, you're sleepy. You're always sleepy." You tapped his face insistently as he already looked halfway to dozing off. "You realise that?"
"'M not," he mumbled out the corner of his mouth, relaxing under your touch. "It's the jet lag."
You rolled your eyes. "Yes, you are. All I have to do is get you to stop thinking for two minutes and you'll nod right off, jet-lagged or not. It's because you're always drinking that damn coffee at all hours of the night." Your hair-raking turned somewhat fastidious. "What's your magnesium intake like?"
Theo huffed. "You're so bossy, you know that?"
"Avocado, spinach, almonds, quinoa-"
"I eat plenty o-"
" - less coffee -"
"I like the taste!"
"You could always take decaf."
Theo choked, eyes flying open.
"You take that back."
You eyed him sternly but relented. He couldn't help his Italian roots. "Well, you still need enough magnesium to get a proper night's rest-"
Theo groaned, burying his face into your stomach once again.
"Enough with the magnesium." He sucked in a breath between his teeth, grumbling to himself. "Merlin, I forgot how bothersome you could be."
"It's not my fault you need someone to bully you into taking care of yourself," you retorted.
"Whatever," Theo muttered, and it was something so comfortingly familiar you couldn't hold back a smile.
"Honestly...you and your...fucking magnesium..."

Bakugou Katsuki: Soft
Fandom: BNHA // MHA — [ Masterlist ]
Summary: ~0.35k, Fluff
Warnings: None
>>>>——————————>
Your co-workers had known you for a while and knew you were happily married, but they had never met this elusive husband of yours. This man who’d stolen your heart, and according to the tales you’d told, seemed to be undoubtedly, undeniably, head-over-heels in love with you.
Of course they pictured someone so soft when you’d told them heartfelt compliments were hard for him to give you frivolously.
Of course they’d envisioned someone so pure, angels would cry when you’d mentioned the fact your husband still blushes when giving you gifts.
Of course they imagined a total sweetheart when you’d said your wonderful husband makes lunches for you when he can - even more adorable was the perfection of them.
So, of course when a total stranger in a black tank top with a muscular frame that could snap them in half in one flex walks in asking demanding to see you, they think this man would kill you and then your husband.
Then there’s you, who approaches this cold-hearted figure with a heartwarming smile. This intimidating enigma whose intensity immediately melts away upon being graced with said smile and nods at you in acknowledgement before jousting a fist out toward you.
That’s it. You were knocked out, no way anyone was surviving a direct hit from him unless they were a pro. However, it was then they noticed the parcel held out along with it, the blazing crimson glare, and the equally discreet scarlet slowing dusting his skin.
“Idiot, you forgot your damn food!”
“Thanks for bringing it for me Katsuki, I know it’s out of your way~” You’d beamed at him so brightly when taking the item from him, to which he only rolled his eyes.
“Yeah yeah, s’no problem if it’s for you. See you later alright? Don’t be a dumbass and walk home alone in the dark, just call and I’ll come get you.”
With his straightforward and slightly harsh way of speaking, he gave a quick kiss to your forehead so fast they almost missed it, along with a light shove to your shoulder as he went to leave.
One thing is for certain, your beloved husband certainly wasn’t the wholesome cinnamon roll your co-workers had conceived in their minds, but one fact remained intact:
Your husband Bakugou Katsuki was no doubt, hopelessly, head-over-heels in love with you.

hi, i've only discovered your writing recently but i can't even explain how much i love it 😭 it's like that one anon who i think said that it feels very real, like you're getting 4k ultra hd 8d view of the scene lol 🩷
i really like your bimbo reader posts but i also sort of enjoy seeing them from this point of view that's like.... "this is not his gfs """"constant"""" style but he just lets her be in this kind of persona sometimes because it's relaxing to let him do all the work and thinking for her from time to time".
i hope this makes sense 😭 thank you for writing something that's this cute and wholesome i just love it
Thank you so much sweetheart, this is really lovely!! 😭😭😭<3
Yeah!! I totally get where you're coming from!! She's not exactly dumb, it's actually quite the opposite. I'd like to hc her as a girl who managed to get into a very good university and is studying astrophysics simply because she liked watching stars as a child. She's not dumb— just a girl who grew up extremely sheltered and hasn't seen the world through the eyes of someone who has had a difficult life, like Simon.
There's certain naivety that while it can be dangerous, she's been learning more and more about with Simon's help about stranger danger and trusting her instinct, but the girl is always surrounded by people who enjoy seeing her thrive and always teach her the things that her parents didn't.
I'd say in general she has a very good life, and now paired with Simon, someone whose entire soul wants to see her thrive?? She gets to turn off her brain and simply let him take control— he sometimes picks her clothes for her, dressing her up to the best of his capacity even when he's not a fashion guy.
This man has studied all her Instagram pictures because she's mesmerizing and he loves her that much, yet it also gives him the chance to more or less know what combinations she likes to wear. He still remembers the time she looked at him like he grew a second head for trying to make her wear dots and lines— but he never made that same mistake again.
They work surprisingly well together despite basically being on complete opposite sides of a spectrum, and at the end of the day, they work this well because they're both equally in love with the other.
Simon is level-headed and that gives her the chance to simply be herself without worrying about anything, he gives her a sense of security that she's never gotten with anyone else, while bimbo!reader gives Simon the love and affection he never even dared to think about. The main thing is that she looks and treats him like he's worth something how good of a soldier he is. Hell, she doesn't even know he's a soldier, she simply found the most brooding and intimidating guy and fell in love with him before she even knew it.
They both spoil each other a lot. Simon buys her things, treats her with patience and love, and generally treats her like the princess that she is, while she takes care of Simon like no other. She does face masks with him, gives him massages, does his manicure (trimming and cleaning his nails, putting lotion on his calloused hands), and is overall as patient as they come.
They're a pretty wholesome pair and quite honestly I enjoy writing about them a lot, the love they have for each other is fully pure and it makes me happy. :')
Sorry for going off here HJBEFJBHKFEHBKJEFHBJK I wrote too much but God, I love this pair SO fucking much

I finally got to watch Viften (Empire) and it’s such a fascinating movie. It was written by Anna Neye who also plays Anna Heegaard, a rich free black woman who’s dating the Danish governor of the island.
Tumblr media
It’s sold as an absurdist comedy and I think there’s no other way to describe it. There aren’t any real jokes but you often end up laughing at the absurdity of it all.
It’s extremely honest about the horrors Danes put the black population through but thankfully it only shows it in quick flashes of art as seen in the trailer. I once watched a video where they explained why most women aren’t into slasher movies and why black people generally don’t rewatch movies about racism and slavery. It’s because the the horrors shown are very real fears and a fact of life so the only people who can really enjoy watching a woman get horribly murdered as entertaining are men and only white people can watch a black person getting whipped to death with cinematic lighting and have a fun night out. By showing the horrors in art they get to be clear about exactly what is going on without coming off as exploitative.
But it’s also very honest about the ways a society based on slavery fucks with everyone. Most of the servants at the manor are slaves except the cook who bought her own freedom years ago. She tells the housekeeper Petrine that some day she too will be able to buy her freedom and get her own slave. That’s right, the freed black people aspire to get their own slaves because that’s the sort of values a society like this instills in people. And Anna tries to be as nice as possible to her own slaves but doesn’t take her own success for granted and is more afraid of an uprising than her white lover and ends up doing some really horrible things to her slaves to keep them down.
Tumblr media
It also touches on how people viewed being black or white back then. That it wasn’t all about skin colour but also status. That’s why all the white people treat Anna as one of them. She’s a rich, educated lady so of course she’s “white”. Even Anna express contempt at being called black because she doesn’t work in the field. The poor freed black people also call Petrine white because she dress and acts like a Dane. Not as in “you are pretending to be white” but as in you are white.
And hats off to the director Frederikke Aspöck. There’s a scene where a woman buys her freedom and they put on a symbolic slave auction where she gets up on the podium and bids on herself. All the white neighbors have come to witness it because it’s seen as this joyous day and they all clap, she’s offered to drink with them and she’s all smiles. The director managed to make the scene wholesome while highlighting the absurdity of it and all you can do is chuckle because what the fuck? The white people think it’s a good thing that she’s free but continue to keep and mistreat their own slaves, and she no doubt dreams of getting her own down the road. It’s very much depicted as institutionalized racism and not just “a few bad eggs”.
And I didn’t know where to put this but there’s a lot of interesting symbolism going on with Anna’s dresses. She always wears dresses that match the colors of the rooms she’s in, establishing her as fully part of the system, but as she begins to realize that the Danish state will never see her as fully equal her colors start to clash with her surroundings.
Tumblr media
I watched it on Netflix and it has English subtitles so it should be somewhere for English speakers to watch if you feel so inclined.

I thought of a silly where emo Sanji and Zoro becomes frenemies as kids and Sanji sorta replaces Kuina being Zoro's rival that he can't beat. But they eventually get separated and still meet again in the future when Sanji joins the straw hats, but now their skills are equal This idea grew like a tumor in my head and made me think of a whole AU where Sanji is born emo n everything, but still meet and joins the straw hats regardless, he is cold blooded and kinda emotionless, perhaps even a little insane, but not necessarily evil, and he was taught his whole life that what he was was a good thing, but after joining the straw hats he is punished instead of praised for the first time for being mean and cold blooded and doesn't understand exacly why at first, but with time he gains humanity and emotions and starts becoming the original Sanji, pretty much like an inverse and wholesome version of the doomed yaoi angst where Sanji goes insane and Zoro has to kill him, man that single little thought of Sanji and Zoro as kids just fucking around snapped on me so hard i thought of all of this in less than 30 minutes. And i really like the view of Sanji all sad and awkward after doing something bad that he thought he was supposed to do but then finding out that was not right and looking like a dog after it's owner yelled at it for chewing their slippers
Tumblr media
I'll also be using all my previous emo Sanji headcanons on this one where hes just kinda cringe and as his ideals colapses he just become some kinda jekyll & hyde typa shit. Also his hair changes colors very quickly rather than just slowly and realistically growng a different color, and if hes feeling bipolar and swap personality alot throughout the day it makes stripes on his hair
Tumblr media
Some other hcs i have about him is that he doesn't smoke and do use his hands in battle, actually he loves fighting with blades, he also thinks cooking is mid but still does it and very well just so they don't go out of food and a good nutrition. On a normal Sanji AU he would still smoke occasionally and evict using his hands in combat out of instinct (idk he forgot hands can be useful in battle too) idk what anyone says emo Sanji is basically my son at this point. Thinking of wether in this AU, Sanji's sibblings will be normal or modified because him being the only one who was successfully modified also sounds cool, to be honest i don't care a LOT about the lore here, i am more mesmerized about the dynamic itself so anyone can interpret the lore however they'd like. Lastly forgive me for my unusually long rambling, i am so normal about Sanji having an evil and emo alter ego

“Right! Let’s try this again.”
You glance around your living room with your hands on your hips, channelling your inner Captain Jenna as you fight to suppress flashbacks that verge on traumatic.
Some of this is exactly the same as last time. Sylus is sprawled in the same spot on your couch, looking inordinately pleased with himself for someone who has only just arrived. The very image of smugness; you immediately suspect that something is horribly wrong, or on track to go horribly wrong. You glance to the other couch, where Xavier and Rafayel sit, equally braced for your presentation. Neither one has been teleported to the roof of your building.
Sylus is reading your relief, and he gives you an exclusive smile, as if to say: yet.
Try not to think about it.
You stand by a large drawing pad— currently flipped closed to create a suspense that only Xavier has bought into. He gives you an eager nod, the blue of his eyes warm and encouraging.
The faces around you haven’t changed, but your little apartment has. Strings of twinkling lights run around your walls, casting faint, festive glows. There’s frost on your windows. Littered everywhere are ornaments: small, glittery birds and wintery creatures. Lots of snowman plushies, courtesy of a few, dedicated arcade expeditions with your favourite doctor.
New season, new start.
“We all remember how this went last time,” you push on finally. “Mistakes were made. Shit happened. Whatever— we’re not gonna dwell on it.”
Sylus lifts his hand. “I, for one, would enjoy a reminder of said mistakes.”
“Motion denied,” you dismiss with a grin and a customer-service enthusiasm that screams: don’t fuck with me right now. Sylus’s eyes sparkle, like embers anxious to become something brighter— more destructive. Don’t think about it. “It wasn’t my fault. You outnumbered me four-to-one that night, which is why my first order of business today is to appoint a co-host.”
Rafayel’s hand shoots into the air. You look at him incredulously. Zayne is stood beside you, his arms folded, and everyone else in the room has connected those particular dots.
“It’s Zayne, Rafayel,” you sigh.
“What?!” He sits up straighter. “Why him?! What are his qualifications, huh? His credentials?”
“I’ve never set the kitchen on fire,” Zayne says.
The artist scoffs, adds under his breath: “Turned it into an ice rink, though.”
There’s a chuckle from Sylus, and a part of you feels bad, pitting Zayne against the others like this. But he’s not alone. He has you, just you, so you should probably do something. “That actually brings me really nicely to my next point, Raf, thank you.”
Unexpected praise. Rafayel stutters, a faint blush to his cheeks, and you take full advantage of having staggered him. “Zayne, do you wanna…?”
“Of course.” The dark-haired man adjusts his glasses, then addresses the rest of the room. “In the interest of everyone’s safety, we have devised a few rules to be adhered to for the rest of the evening. These will be enforced by a point system, which we will record… here.”
He flips the drawing pad open, and a blank table fills the top half of the page. Each quarter has been assigned a name. “Basically—” you gesture to it— “three strikes and you’re out.”
None of your guests look perturbed by this.
“The first rule is simple,” Zayne explains, pulling away a strip of paper from the bottom of the page, then reading the writing underneath: “No unauthorised use of Evols.”
Rafayel’s hand shoots up again. You tilt your head at it. “Yes, Raf?”
“Ok, so what if there’s a power-cut or something? Lights are out. Heating’s out. Big disaster, yeah? You’re saying I couldn’t—?” He clicks his fingers, spawning a small flame.
“We would use my Evol,” Xavier says with the gentle authority he uses to steer civilians away from a Wanderer incursion. “It’s safer.”
The flame is snuffed out. Rafayel huffs: “Don’t you use it to, like, kill things?”
“Yeah…” Xavier shrugs. “Bad things.”
“Second rule!” you chime.
“Second rule,” Zayne echoes, peeling back the next strip of paper. There’s absolutely no showmanship, nor energy at all as he continues, “No unauthorised sarcasm.”
Another hand raises. “What would be authorised sarcasm?” Xavier asks, squinting as though he can’t quite figure it out on his own.
You purse your lips in thought. “If it makes me laugh?”
Rafayel is stroking his chin, his eyes narrowed, because he’s also thinking. “High risk, high reward,” he muses, and you shoot him a smile.
This is going better than you thought it would, actually. If you were to turn a few more pages of the drawing pad, you would see crude illustrations of the worst-case scenarios you’d sketched out for Zayne earlier. There’s one where Rafayel is trying to strangle Sylus with Christmas lights. There’s another where Zayne has turned you all into snowmen.
Don’t get ahead of yourself, though. The evening is young, and the snowman scenario is still very much on the table.
Culprit of about ninety percent of your nightmarish visions and drawings— Sylus has been unnervingly silent. You meet eyes with him, an inherent mistrust in your gaze. The success of this sweet, humble Christmas Eve hinges on you figuring out what he’s here for. His agenda. His ulterior motives.
What does he want from tonight? He smirks at you. You’re vaguely competent, and you can figure it out without him holding your hand, can’t you?
That reminds you of something. “Zayne.” You jostle your co-host by his arm. “Do the last rule!”
You’re excited about the last rule.
Zayne isn’t; he hesitates. “The last rule…” He rubs at the back of his neck. “It’s… it’s only applicable to you, Sylus.”
Sylus is now also excited about the last rule. You can tell from the way his lips part, for a second, like he wants to tell you just how flattered he is you spend so much of your time thinking about him.
You put Zayne out of his misery, tearing the final strip of paper away from the pad. The paper flutters to the ground like a very plain snowflake, and you wiggle your fingers, adorning the final rule with a touch of pizazz:
No smirking, sass, or general smugness.
A corner of Sylus’s mouth lifts. “Believe it or not, kitten, your little point system doesn’t scare me.”
You pick up the pen and score a mark under his name.
“Oh no,” he mutters lifelessly.
“Sarcasm!” Rafayel coughs.
You’re well ahead of him, already turning to make another mark. “Gods,” you hear Sylus grimace, not much more than a whisper, “you’re such a boy scout.”
There’s a snort from Rafayel. “Sorry, say that again? I couldn’t hear you over the sound of you totally getting kicked out of here.”
“Sarcasm,” Sylus says.
“Wait, I didn’t mean— no!”
You giggle as you issue Rafayel’s first strike, and he groans behind you, slumping down in his seat. When you turn back around, his face is buried in his hands.
Sylus is smirking again, but the expression drops the moment he senses your gaze. You both know what’s at stake here. Back in the N109 Zone, Luke and Kieran are lamenting the fact that you’ve stolen their leader— it’s not very Christmassy of you, after all. There were a lot of things they wanted to do with him. Snowball fights, presents, and a heist that required disguises: Santa and his two, hard-working elves. They already have the suit, custom-made for him.
So here is the big, bad boss of Onychinus, hiding in your apartment, and definitely not smirking.
You pop the lid back onto your pen, then post it into your pocket like you’re holstering an all-powerful weapon. That’s one point to you and Zayne, and zero points to Sylus, thank you very much.
“What are you doing?”
Sylus sighs, evading a furious lilac gaze while he focuses on the task at hand. Freshly escaped from you and the doctor’s terrifying lecture, he’s making the most of his liberty.
“What I am doing,” he mumbles, tying string around a sprig of mistletoe, “is between me and our charming host. Run along, little artist.” He tightens the knot. “This doesn’t concern you.”
Rafayel crosses his arms, his eyes dark. “You’re cheating.”
“Ha.” Sylus spares him a glance out of pity. “You’re jealous.”
“Am not.”
He definitely is, but Sylus doesn’t have time for this game. He can hear you in your bedroom, rooting around for the phone charger you’d vanished in search of. Your door isn’t closed, but it’s closed enough. You can’t see him. He can’t see you. What a perfect opportunity.
“Give it to me,” Rafayel says— an interruption that warrants a roll of the eyes.
“No.”
“Give it—“ the artist starts again, then makes a grab for the mistletoe. Now that’s jealousy. He could incinerate the plant with a click of his fingers, but no, he wants it. Covets it.
Sylus chuckles quietly, his arm stretching up: holding the mistletoe out of an ever-more desperate reach.
To Rafayel’s credit, he persists. He goes up on his toes, tugging at the older man’s sleeve to try and drag the mistletoe closer. The plant evaporates in a swirl of dark energy the second he succeeds. It materialises behind Sylus’s back, in his other hand, and Rafayel realises instantly. He tries to stretch his arms around him. To take it from him.
“Absolutely not!”
Sylus’s fingers are suddenly empty. Mistletoe-less. He turns reluctantly, still holding Rafayel back.
You stand at your wide-open door, one hand on your hips and the other clutching his confiscated item. You’re frowning. Tapping your foot. Your lips are pursed adorably.
“What a coincidence, kitten,” Sylus smiles, and behind him, Rafayel pokes his tongue out, overcome with nausea. “I was just thinking about you.”
“Clearly.” You jostle the mistletoe, looking… disappointed? Huh. “Never thought I’d catch you indulging an old cliche.”
Sylus shrugs charmingly, like a cat performing a leisurely stretch after toppling a vase from a very high shelf.
“Give me the rest of it,” you command.
“Hmm?”
“The back-up mistletoe, Sy. I’m not an idiot.”
Sylus scoffs, but you do have him wrapped oh so prettily around your finger. He rolls his neck, stalling. If giving up were a slope, he would already be a heap at the bottom of it, but he doesn’t really mind. Three more sprigs of mistletoe appear from thin air, dropping into your open hands.
“Honestly, Sylus,” you groan, stepping past him. Then you thrust the plants to the artist’s chest. “Burn these, Raf.” You’re dusting your hands down as you walk away.
Sylus frowns. That’s neither ideal nor part of the plan.
Rafayel is looking at him, telling him with gloating silence that there’s no playing diplomat, here— no negotiating the return of the hostages. That bridge has been— rather fittingly— burned. The mistletoe turns slowly to ash: darkened by licks of flame that curl with the eager spite of their master’s lips.
It would be beautiful if it wasn’t so damned inconvenient. When the fire’s had its fun, one sprig of mistletoe remains, rich green and ivory— wholly untouched. You’re across the room, talking to Zayne, so Rafayel smirks in triumph. Tucks his prize into his pocket.
Sylus’s heart sinks with it, but he still smiles back.
Rafayel isn’t looking too good.
Well, the Rafayel is looking fine, but your Rafayel? Not so much. You steal a glance at the artist across the cluttered kitchen island; he’s sat, leaning, propped up on his elbows, his eyes glazed— he’s clearly away with the fishies. He catches you staring. Gives you a wink.
You glance down at the gingerbread man you’ve been decorating: the blue-pink of his iced eyes, and the mess of purple hair, at least three shades too dark. Oh, gods— probably a million shades too dark through the gaze of a Lemurian. At least the outfit is cute? You’ve recreated Rafayel’s signature cardigan. The plaid pattern isn’t quite straight, but that was a… deliberate choice. This is your interpretation of his cardigan, and you wanted it to reflect its owner. A little all over the place, but still, you love it. Even when it’s coming undone, it keeps you warm.
“Would you like to go next?”
Zayne is talking to you, smiling at you. He was the first to reveal his gingerbread creation: a miniature Xavier that was surprisingly true to life. Your hunting partner had almost glowed with delight, while you were dark with jealousy. The biscuit sits before you all, boasting details that could only be achieved with an exceedingly steady hand.
Worse: Rafayel’s gingerbread is next to it, stupidly, predictably perfect. It’s Zayne. It’s really Zayne, from the sweep of black hair to the hazel eyes; how on earth did he manage to make that colour? The tiny doctor is dressed in his lab coat, sporting his badge and a pocketful of even tinier pens and medical instruments. There’s… shading? Ugh, you can see the creases in the fabric.
“Umm… sure, I can go next,” you mumble.
It was just your luck, pulling Rafayel’s name out of that hat. Sheepishly, you move aside the cookbook you’d stood to guard your project from any prying eyes. Your gingerbread is nudged forwards.
“That’s me!” Rafayel exclaims.
“Yeah…” you confirm half-heartedly. “Sorry, I know it’s not great, but I—”
Lack the skill of a celebrity artist, or the steady hands of a cardiac surgeon? You have no idea which exact pool of self-pity your sentence was set on drowning within, but it doesn’t matter. Rafayel has plucked your gingerbread up for a closer look, and his smile is enormous. “This is amazing!”
“You don’t have to—”
“That’s my cardigan!” He’s crashing the pity party again. “And look at my eyes— the colours! This little guy is so handsome, yeah? You really did me justice, cutie. Look at him!”
He holds the gingerbread up to his face, trying to match its two-dimensional grin. He looks around for affirmation, and it’s just his luck, because is a single man at this table ever going to insult your hard work?
“The eyes are amazing,” Xavier enthuses. “Like the sky at sunset. Who knew my partner was so talented?”
“I did,” Rafayel chirps happily.
Xavier frowns. “No, it was rhetori— never mind.” He smiles at you. Rolls with it. “I knew too, by the way.”
“As did I,” Zayne adds.
Everyone looks at Sylus, who shrugs a shoulder and says, “It was up for debate.”
“Can we please move onto the next person?” you press. This is all too much attention. “Sylus, can you… please?”
He does like it when you beg, but he likes it even more when he can play knight in shining armour. “My pleasure, sweetie.”
For a man whose creative side is mostly indulged by vintage gun restorations, he reveals his gingerbread with a staggering amount of confidence. It’s placed at the centre of the kitchen island, where you all stare down at it. Its hair is snow-white, and its eyes: blood-red.
“That’s…” Zayne begins.
“That’s you, Sylus!” you take-over, voice shrill with betrayal. “You were supposed to say something if you picked yourself! And you— wait, what are…?” There are distinct lines over the gingerbread’s midriff. It dawns on you: “Are those abs?!”
Sylus shrugs again.
“They so are!” You snatch up the biscuit, standing to wave it in Sylus’s face like a crime-scene photo. “Where’s his shirt, huh?”
“He lost it.”
“Bullshit!” you snap. This gingerbread competition had come with its own set of rules, one of which was very clearly: “Nothing obscene! I said nothing obscene, Sylus!”
He leans away from you with a tut. “It’s tasteful, sweetie. The artist will tell you.”
“The artist is staying out of this,” Rafayel murmurs, off to your side.
Sylus crosses his arms, regardless, as though his case has been made. You cross your arms too.
“Can I show you my gingerbread now?” Xavier asks, and his tone is deceivingly soft: a hand on your shoulder, pulling you back.
You release the tension in your body with a sigh, then set the gingerbread down so you can’t throw it at Sylus’s un-smug face (which he’s been very careful about.) “Of course, Xavier,” you smile, slinking back onto your stool. You can throw something at Sylus later. “Ooh, is it me? It has to be me, right?”
Xavier chuckles awkwardly. “It’s you. I don’t think it’s very good, though.”
“Show me!” you insist.
The final cookbook is removed, and Xavier unveils his hard work. You clamp a hand to your mouth.
You don’t have a single word for what you’re looking at— only laughter, and you can’t let yourself laugh, no matter what. If that gingerbread is you? Then it’s a you who’s been torn apart by Wanderers, at least seven consecutive times. Your face is a swirl of colours and features— you think Xavier must have tried to wipe it off to start again, more than once, but it hasn’t worked.
The gingerbread has been broken, too. Three of the four limbs, to be exact, and that you could forgive, but… did he have to use dark red icing to glue them back on? It drips out of the joins messily, almost making you wince.
Everyone is silent.
“A perfect likeness,” says Sylus.
You burst out laughing, and the moment you do, Rafayel’s right there with you. Even Sylus caves— it’s one of the most sincere laughs you’ve ever heard from him. There are tears in your eyes; you can’t help it. Zayne is the strongest of you, but even the tight line of his mouth quivers. He’s biting his lip.
But it’s fine. Xavier is laughing, too. “I said it wasn’t very good!”
“Xavier!” you wheeze. You can’t even look at him. Your stomach hurts. “What… what happened to me?!”
“What do you mean?” he practically giggles.
“What do I mean?” you repeat, and it tips you into another breathless bout of laughter. You go to point at the gingerbread— all the explanation you need— but it almost kills you. You really can’t breathe. After half a minute, you try again. “I look like I’ve been in an accident!”
“Here,” Rafayel grins, and he slides the Doctor Zayne gingerbread over to poor, suffering gingerbread you.
“Aww!” you smile, having finally caught your breath.
Wordlessly, Zayne retrieves his likeness— pulling it away from yours. You frown at him, as confused and wounded as Xavier apparently imagines you. “Even I have my limits,” the doctor shrugs.
That’s it. You’re gone again, your sides aching as your whole body shakes with laughter. It’s too much. Gods, it’s too much. You’re gonna need another minute.
“I can’t believe you made you.”
It’s been fifteen or so minutes, and you toy with Sylus’s gingerbread counterpart, pinching his hands between your thumbs and forefingers— making him walk (well, penguin waddle) across the kitchen island.
“Believe it, sweetie,” Sylus huffs with a smile.
“Is this really how you see yourself?”
Before you can walk the gingerbread any further, his creator plucks him up by his head, away from your reaching fingers. “It’s how I think you should see me,” he chuckles. He holds the gingerbread out to you. Wiggles it. “For your eyes only, kitten.”
“Except the other guys saw it—”
“Shhhh, shh shh!” In his haste to silence you, he almost pushes the gingerbread to your lips.
You glare at him. Complain from behind it: “Get your shirtless abs out of my face, Sylus.”
“Make me.”
You snatch the gingerbread, pinning it down on the counter. “Keep pushing your luck, Sy. Wanna see what’ll happen?”
He absolutely does, and his eyes glint with mirth as you reach for a near-empty bowl of crimson icing. You scrape some of it up with a discarded teaspoon, then let it drip generously over his gingerbread. It takes a few, long seconds to really cover him in it. To make him look as fatally tragic as gingerbread you.
“Here,” you say, dropping the spoon in a bowl with a satisfied clink. You hold out the gingerbread. “This’ll be you when I’m done with you.”
Sylus regards it for a moment, his eyebrow quirked. Then his eyes find your gingerbread likeness. “Want to see what you’ll look like when I’m done with you?”
His hand goes out for the bowl of red icing, except… it goes past the bowl of red icing, and lands on a tube of white icing instead. He holds it up with a smile.
“Inappropriate.”
The tube is swept out of his fingers, and he blinks at the empty space, legitimately surprised.
“It was snow, doctor,” he remarks bitterly, once he’s recovered from the second ambush of the evening. He glances over his shoulder. “From a snowball fight?”
“Sure it was,” Zayne mutters, already turning back to the bowl he’s washing in the sink.
Sylus is frowning, affronted, but the expression softens when you’re filling his gaze again. You: your hands on your mouth, so close to spilling laughter. “Oooooh,” you tease with a secretive sing-song voice, “you got in trouble!”
He wrinkles his nose like ‘trouble’ is an insult. It sets you off sniggering uncontrollably.
“What did I miss?”
It’s Xavier, back from the lounge.
“Nothing,” Sylus answers.
“He got in trouble!” you counteract with a not-at-all quiet whisper.
You earn a glare from the criminal, and a little laugh from the hunter. “Third-strike trouble?” the latter enquires. He might have handcuffs on stand-by; it wouldn’t surprise you.
“Not yet,” you grin cheerfully.
Zayne sets a plate on the drying rack. “Give it time.”
“I don’t think we have enough, sweetie,” Sylus quips, peeking over the stack of blankets you’ve piled high on his arms.
What was it Rafayel said? High risk, high reward? You mercifully chuckle. Your arms are wrapped around three, plush cushions— the last of your sleepover supplies. Snacks? Are ready. Guests? Haven’t killed each-other yet. You toe open your bedroom door, shouldering the rest of the way through with your missing puzzle pieces of luxury.
“Oh, nice!” someone exclaims from the kitchen. Xavier is watching you, starry-eyed, and his cheeks are full; he’s midway through a cookie.
Sylus steps through the door behind you, issuing a faint noise of disgust. He sounds like he’s being attacked by a bug, so you turn around, ready to leap to the rescue. He’s stood within the door frame, eyes cast upwards to where a sprig of mistletoe hangs on the end of a string. It’s swaying gently; he must have caught his head on it. You frown, lips parted. He was with you the whole time you were looting your bedroom. When did he…? How did he…?
He looks down at you, the mistletoe still hovering above him. You raise an eyebrow, waiting for the inevitable joke, or the even more inevitable invitation.
“I…’ he starts gingerly, “I didn’t…”
Oh. He’s just as confused as you are, and it’s… really cute. He’s lost for words— the man who came here with not one, but four sprigs of mistletoe. The man who threatened your gingerbread with white icing. The man who’s spent the entire evening thinking about how he wants to be close to you.
Sylus laughs, but it’s full of nervousness. “It’s alright,” he says, “you don’t have to—”
You tilt him towards you, your hand on his shoulder and cushions around your feet. “Merry Christmas, Sy,” you murmur, pressing a kiss to his cheek. It’s warm on your lips.
His eyes flutter closed. “Merry Christmas,” he breathes, barely more than a whisper.
You hum contentedly as you pull away from him. When his eyes reopen, they’re warm with a nostalgia you cannot explain, but you can feel, too— so inexplicably. His gaze is blood-red, but it makes you think of flowers.
What a funny feeling. It strikes you a lot, nowadays, and not just with the man in front of you.
Speaking of the others, you glance towards your lounge. Xavier is telling Zayne a story, and Rafayel is watching you from over the back of the sofa— turning away when you spot him. That’s one mystery solved. You collect the cushions from the floor, sparing Sylus a smile before you meander back to your party. The coffee table’s a banquet of sweet, sugary snacks, so you carefully skirt past it.
Xavier’s hands grab at air. You laugh and toss him a cushion. “Thanks,” he grins.
“Here— your favourite.” Zayne is pointing at your freshly-filled mug, and you grin your own thank you as you settle down next to him.
Sylus soon arrives too, handing out blankets, and for all the evening’s animosity, he gets a grateful smile for each. He sits down next to Xavier, and it’s odd, you know? You’ve slain Wanderers, saved lives with every person around you. You’ve seen them bleed and kill.
They’re all wrapping themselves up, like snuggly little Christmas presents. Xavier’s managed to collect another cushion— from Zayne, maybe?— and he’s practically building a fort on his side of the couch. Some of it infringes on Sylus’s space, and you notice him notice, but he doesn’t say a word. Oblivious, tucked under two blankets, Xavier’s already looking sleepy.
Someone’s making less of an effort to get comfortable. On the other side of you, Rafayel sits, uncharacteristically quiet. He hasn’t met your eyes since you sat down. You remember him, watching you under the mistletoe from across the room, and the thought has you leaning in closer.
“That was sweet of you,” you whisper, even though he disobeyed you.
“Don’t know what you’re talking about,” he shrugs.
But he does, so you kiss his cheek, ever so fondly, with that funny feeling in your chest again. It’s the first time, but it doesn’t strike you as such. Uncharted waters, a foreign land— when have I been here before?
Rafayel has relaxed: sunken deep into the sofa and the security of your touch. You smile, pulling his blanket up higher around him— tighter around him— until he’s as much of a cocoon as everyone else. His lips curve with a smile of surrender, ever-willingly captured. Silly fish.
You draw away from him, readjusting in your seat until you’re cuddled up next to Zayne. You don’t see the wink Rafayel shoots Sylus, or the look of begrudging respect in the latter’s red eyes.
“Are you comfortable?” Zayne asks, head angling towards yours.
Co-host to co-host. “Yeah.” You snuggle closer to him. “This is kinda perfect, isn’t it?” He feels cold, despite his Sylus-issued blanket, so you lend him part of yours.
“No,” he confers softly, distractedly.
“No?”
“No.” He gives you a look, and you know it as intimately as the chill of his hands and the warmth of his heart. His ‘I know something that you don’t’ look. Sure enough, he says: “I think it’s missing something.”
On the other sofa, Xavier is beaming at you, having caught onto your conversation. It’s suspicious— harmless conspiracy, surprise-party sort of suspicious, but your pulse still picks up.
“Close your eyes,” Zayne instructs.
And you do, without question. Darkness, yes, but you’re under his care, aren’t you? There’s no anxiousness in your excitement, just trust for the man who was looking out for you long before he was your doctor. Your hands are over your eyes and you’re younger, again, playing hide-and-seek, again.
Zayne’s is a familiarity you can place. A nostalgia built on memories, not reveries.
Something icy touches your hand, then melts without any resistance.
“Open,” Zayne prompts, leaning against you to stir you.
Your apartment has changed again. The lights are all out, save for the fairy lights. The spectrum of colours flicker from the walls and the tree, catching on tiny, white specs in the air. Snowflakes are drifting down, impossibly. Falling, dancing— maybe a bit of both. You look up and some land on your face, cold with their kisses. You giggle in delight.
Everyone’s gaze is on the ceiling: sapphire, emerald, amethyst, ruby. It ought to be dark. Instead, an entire night sky fills the space above you, scattered with thousands of stars. Every pinprick is deliberate. Meticulously placed. There are constellations— infinite patterns that transcend every life you might’ve lead, and every life you’ll ever lead (if you believe in that sort of thing.)
Xavier glances at you, and you forgo the spell of his masterpiece so that you can glance back. Snowflakes are in his hair, dusting him with sparkles. He smiles in a way you think could defy lifetimes, too.
“This is… really something,” Sylus says, and there’s not a hint of sarcasm.
It’s everything. The stars, brighter for darkness. The snow, only novel in warmth. These things don’t always work— they’ll undo each-other, overpower each-other, but there’s an ultimate balance, in-between every conflict. An occasional harmony, and it’s…
Perfect.
Rafayel scoots close to you. “Was this authorised?” he whispers.
You look over to the point board, where there are first strikes beneath Zayne and Xavier’s names, and you don’t know how long they’ve been there.
“No,” you laugh tenderly. “No, it wasn’t.”

The difference between male wish fulfillment vs female wish fulfillment in romance anime
There’s kind of a different gaze that can be targeted to in romance anime.
In male wish fulfillment anime romances, there’s usually a much heavier emphasis on the male love interest’s pov than the female’s. Also, women tend to be much more.. objectified and there’s an unnecessary amount of fan service. An example of this is Rent a Girlfriend and Don’t Toy With Me Miss Nagatoro. It’s more about the male lead being hit on by.. really horny women than actual romance.
However, in female wish fulfillment anime, it tends to be more told from the female’s perspective. The way the male love interest tends to be written is to make him emotional and aware and.. kind, rather than objectifying him or even making them horny, because women.. we don’t really want to be lusted after like that, typically. We’re already objectified enough. My favorite example is Kimi Ni Todoke: From Me To You. Kazehaya admits he’s a ‘pervert’ but in a respectful way. The writer doesn’t make him fully pure or naive or anything like that. He’s still a teen boy. But in this series, the male character is written to be sweet, emotional, and aware but he’s not stripped away from his inherent masculinity (nontoxic masculinity!). Not just.. a guy, if that makes any sense. Meanwhile, in male wish fulfillment anime, the women are just women, rather than characters. Again, I hope this makes sense!
Now, I’m not saying all romance anime that’s written from the female’s perspective is the best! I think MY Love Story!! is a good example of this! The main character is a male and he’s a genuine, total sweetheart while still having a sense of masculinity! And the female character isn’t objectified! And I would even say even say that this show could be considered a male wish fulfillment romance, based on how it’s written.
And then there’s shows for both, like Kaguya Sama: Love is War. In this show, the two love interests have complete equal power in focus, making them feel completely balanced and real. Neither are objectified and both get treated like humans. Same with The Apothecary Diaries, if not more so!
Anyways, sorry for this ramble. I just really like (well written) romance anime. And I will leave off with a list of romance anime recommendations!
•Kimi Ni Todoke: From Me To You (adorable, fluffy, amazing character development, doesn’t beat around the bush the entire fucking series. Half of the manga is pining and the other half is the complexities of being in your first ever relationship as you try to navigate it all)
•Snow White With The Red Hair (amazing female lead with cool world building and interesting dynamics)
•MY Love Story!! (SO CUTE! Amazing show about not judging appearances)
•My Happy Marriage (Really wholesome Cinderella type story)
•Kaguya Sama: Love Is War (hilarious. I actually recommend the dub. Genuinely really sweet)
•Sasaki To Miyano (so sweet it’ll give you cavities)
•Tomo Chan Is A Girl (there is sadly quite a bit of fanservice in this. I’ve seen way worse, but ya. If you’re wanting something to watch with your parents, this may not be it. Mostly just close ups on boobs)
•Monthly Girls Nozaki (romcom that leans really heavy on the comedy more than the romance, but I love it too much to not recommend. Watch it in the dub, you won’t regret it)
•Fruits Basket (Really sweet)
•Toilet Bound Hanako (THE MANGA! READ THE MANGA! DON’T LET THE TITLE WEIRD YOU OUT, I SWEAR IT IS INCREDIBLE! READ!)
•Komi Can’t Communicate (I would, however, like to apologize for Yamai ahead of time. The entire fandom hates her, don’t worry. There’s also quite a bit of fan service in this one 😔)
•Toradora (haven’t seen it in a while, but it’s a classic lol)
•Horimiya (Another romance anime that doesn’t beat around the bush!)
•The Ice Guy And His Cool Female Colleague (SO. CUTE. AGHHHH. Despite it being ice themed, it certainly makes me feel warm and fuzzy)
•Love, Chuunibyou, and Other Delusions (so silly, amazing story about maturity while also keeping your inner child alive)
•I Want To Eat Your Pancreas (be sure to bring tissues! You will cry!)
•Kamisama Kiss (I really like the characters and world building in this one. Sadly, we’ll probably never get another season 😔)
•Words Bubble Up Like Soda Pop (SUCH A CUTE MOVIE! Amazing feel good romance that just makes you happy)
•My Little Monster (not my usual first recommendation, but it’s an overall fun watch… still so desperately want another season. False hope lol)
•Ouran High School Host Club (an absolute classic romcom. Another situation where I actually recommend the dub)
•Apothecary Diaries (AGGHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! …full stop. I love this show.)
•Princess Tutu (I LOVE THIS STORYBOOK SETTING! And Ahiru is so silly. She’s just a duck, she can’t handle all these responsibilities!)

I still think it's really cool how Amuro starts as the shittiest pilot alive (because he's a 15-year old) that only gets carried because he's in the biggest, fattest stat stick in-universe at the time (a few retroactive additions made in the future notwithstanding), enough that even its crappy vulcan guns are tearing Zaku IIs apart, and when he starts getting a bit too cocky, Char and Ramba Ral show up in objectively inferior pieces of junk and absolutely deliver his pizza, they just drag his face across every available surface in Planet Earth like he's a Yakuza mook, all because they are simply that much better at piloting, and the thing is, Amuro takes that very seriously.
He goes from shitass kid in an unfortunate situation that doesn't want to get in the robot to the most unwell child soldier in the war, which is really saying something, but most importantly, becomes so good at piloting the Gundam that the Gundam physically cannot handle Amuro's piloting. They need to apply "Magnetic Coating" to its joints so they don't fucking snap away from the main frame because Amuro, one, moves too damn well but also in too extreme a way for the frame to handle it, two, despite being equipped with two sabers, a shield, a beam rifle and vulcan guns, Amuro is a stern believer in introducing most everyone in thagomizer range to his Rated Z for Zeon hands, the single most official pair of hands in the business, tax free. He KEEP going Ip Man on these dudes, he does NOT need to do a Jamestown on these mother fuckers but he INSISTS. Somehow even the Gundam Hammer, which is a giant Hannah Barbera cartoon flail-- Ok, look at this thing, words do not do it justice
Tumblr media
Even this god damn Tom and Jerry prop is less savage that whatever Amuro decides to do the moment he's done throwing his shield to get a free kill on someone and it officially becomes bed time forever for the unfortunate sap at the business end of his ten-finger weapons of mass destruction.
The RX-78-2, "Gundam" for its friends and family, even has a top of the line cutting edge Learning Computer that 'learns' alongside the pilot and their habits. This data extracted from it was so absolutely fucked up that it completely revolutionized Mobile Suit combat afterwards, which is a wholesome thing to think about when The Best Combat Data Ever came from a really angry, really stressed 15 year old that doesn't even like piloting. He was 15! He made Haro with his own hands! Amuro literally just wanted to make funny cute spherical robofriends! Amuro was out there trying to make Kirby real, but fate had other plans for him. His cloned brain put in a pilot seat is one of the setting's strongest 'pilots'.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They made fucking Shadow the Hedgehog with his brain, god damn.
By the end, Zeon is rolling out Gelgoogs out of its mass production lines. These things are in the Gundam's ballpark in terms of overall specs (or "power level"). Amuro is bodying them as if they were episode 1 Zaku IIs.
AND THEN HE GETS FUCKING PSYCHIC SPACE POWERS. Not that he needed them, he bodied a couple Space Psychics without any of those powers before awakening to them. But heaven's most violent child was not done evolving, whether he liked it or not.
Char bodied him in a souped up Zaku II at the start, a machine objectively inferior to the Gundam. Amuro more or less one-sidedly beats the shit out of Char when he's in a custom Commander-type Gelgoog that you could consider to be equal spec-wise to the Gundam. Amuro is the embodiment of Finding Out. He is Consequences. You tell him he better make it hurt, better make it count, better kill you in one shot, buddy, he needs half a fucking shot. The complete transformation. One could consider the central 75% of the show as long drawn out training montage turning a kid into the Geese Howard of giant robots.

Objects in Motion
Part 4!
Alpha! Billy Russo x Omega! Reader
No warnings this is wholesome lmaoooooooo
Tumblr media
His scent lingers on you when you walk into work on Monday. Despite how hard you'd tried to wash it off, it clings to your skin, seemingly unwilling to let you go.
Secretly, that delights you, emphasizes the strength of whatever there was between the two of you. It’s equal parts giddy, and terrifying.
That an alpha like him- that he could be interested in you, you have to resist a groan of delight as you wait for the elevator to get to your floor.
The doors slide open and you let out a long sigh, making your way slowly to your desk, smiling and forcing yourself to greet your coworkers.
You were already exhausted by the idea of working, wishing you were still in bed, hidden under piles of blankets to shield you from the world. Maybe a certain alpha would be willing to join you.
Or maybe… maybe you were better off never thinking about him again.
Honestly, you'd probably be doing him a favour, your situations couldn't be more opposite, you couldn't imagine him ever seeing where you lived, it might hurt you to see the pity written across his face.
Worse, you'd just be a burden to him, he'd probably feel obligated to take care of you, and if things didn't work out- you shudder- you didn't even want to think about it.
But God, you were so attracted to him that it hurt. You couldn't stop thinking about him, and the ways he would touch you, the ways he might feel, the size of him-
You blink in surprise, feeling a small flush of pheromones around you. Damn, work was the worst place for this.
At the same time, you catch sight of Renée, the only other omega in the department, making her way toward you, her desk situated nearby.
She glances at you, gives you a subtle nod while dropping her stuff, before pausing, and turning to you.
“You smell like an Alpha.” She says, no question in her tone.
Renée was the type of person to speak somewhat kindly to your face, the perfect facade of caring, but you knew people, and you knew that she would find a way to work this interaction into office gossip.
“I made a friend.” You answer inexplicably, trying to keep a poker face, knowing that shyness would do you no favours here.
She raises her eyebrows, turns away, you knew she was thinking one of two things, wondering how you managed to befriend an alpha before her, or that someone you called a ‘friend’ would let you scent them. Basically, that you were a slut and she was better than you.
“Well, I hope you have fun.” She says, smiling over at you sweetly.
“Thanks.” You mutter politely, tugging your headset on, and getting ready to start your day.
Your phone pings in the middle of the morning peak hours, and you pause speaking to glance down at it, seeing yet another message from the alpha himself.
He’d been sending texts all weekend, texts that you had been ignoring, though you weren’t exactly sure why.
You shake your head, apologising for your pause, before resuming your work.
When the call ends, you take a bathroom break, pulling down your notification bar to see what he’s said.
You catch sight of all the other messages before, sighing as guilt fills you.
I hoped you had a nice time, sweetheart, I’d like to see you again.
Omega?
Please don’t feel shy about the car, I wanted it too.
Are you ignoring me?
Good morning, sweetheart. Let’s have dinner.
Are you really going to make me beg?
It was almost hard to breathe, the way he seemed so desperate for you. You could almost feel his desire through the phone, like an ache in your chest, sticking like tar to the back of your throat.
Denying him might be the hardest thing you've ever had to do, but it was for the best, you decide as you lock your phone. You would not be played for a fool ever again.
He calls during your lunch break, you swallow and flip your phone over, muting the call while you eat your small packed lunch.
Why wasn't he getting the message? Would it really be that hard to free yourself of him?
You don't get any more messages or calls after that, and you assume he gives up when you hear nothing else from him for the rest of the day.
Your transit home is bitter, the thought that you'd successfully chased an alpha away hurts, like you knew it would.
He might have been amazing, he might have been warm. You tip your head back on the bus, taking in a deep breath and exhaling agony.
Worse, his scent fades even more the next day, and where you'd been trying to scrub it from you over the weekend, you cling to it now, wishing it would stay just a few days more.
You stop, surprised, when you see a single sunflower sitting on your work desk in the morning.
It's in a little transparent vase, and your heart gives a violent uptick as you approach, reaching for the little card you see pressed under the vase, raising it to your nose, taking a deep breath.
Your eyes roll back in your head at the pure scent of him. He'd probably rubbed the harsh little card against his scent gland, trying to get your attention by any means necessary.
You go so weak in the knees that you're forced to brace a hand against your desk to support you.
You draw back, flipping the card open, finding one word written neatly in his hand.
Please
You bite down in the corner of your lip, smiling. Guess you hadn't chased him away after all.
Was this good? Was this bad? You didn't know, all you could feel is your chest fluttering at the idea that you'd pushed this Alpha away as hard as you could and he was still here, trying to calmly approach, not overwhelming you by physically getting into your space, but letting his actions speak for him, reminding you that he was still here.
Could you hope that his feelings were real? That he really cared about you, where other Alphas had only themselves in mind?
“From your friend?” Renee's voice breaks into your head.
You turn, dropping your hand as if you've been caught.
“Yeah.” You breathe out, turning to busy yourself with work, feeling her eyes glued to the back of your head.
When you finally settle in, staring at the flower, you frown, remembering the way the second alpha you'd been with had used your own desires against you. He'd twisted your need to be cared for, making it seem like your only purpose was to serve him. Adam had left you aching for crumbs and hating yourself for it.
You could almost cry from the memory, that alphas could be so cruel, so manipulative, that it was always a game and you needed to keep your cards close to your chest.
Why, would William be any different?
Why were you wishing with everything you had, that he was?
You bring the card up to your nose, breathing in his scent, hoping.
.
You’re staring at his unopened messages yet again, trying to figure out what to say to him when the phone on your desk rings.
You straighten, grabbing your headset, tugging it on before answering, giving your quick, jovial greeting.
There’s a long pause, that alerts you to the fact that this call might not be totally normal.
“Omega.” The voice finally says, and your mouth drops open in surprise.
“William?” You ask, almost choking on your words, “You- these calls are recorded for quality purposes.”
“You’ve been ignoring me. This was the only way I could think of to hear your voice.”
Jesus Christ, you could feel your heart palpitating in your chest.
“We shouldn’t be talking on this line.” You respond shakily.
“Did I do something wrong? Tell me what I did sweetheart, so I can fix it.”
Ohmygod, you clear your throat, adjusting yourself in your seat with the way his voice is affecting you.
“William-”
“-I can’t stop thinking about you. I need to see you again, even if it’s for you to tell me you want me to leave you alone. I’ll beg if I have to.”
You blink, mouth parting, unable to speak.
“We shouldn’t.” You try.
“Please.” is his low, grovelling response.
Your breath hitches as he continues on repeat, slow, drawing out each word with his voice echoing through your headset, sending shivers over your spine.
“Please, please, please, please, please-”
“Okay.” You stumble out, “Alright.”
You hear him sigh a breath of relief.
“Let’s have dinner tonight. My treat.”
“I don’t-” You start before cutting off, cheeks aflame with embarrassment, “-I have nothing to wear.”
“Don’t fret little one, I’ll pick you up after work. I’ll take care of everything, you just have to withstand my company for one night, and if you really want me to, I’ll leave you alone after.”
“I’m holding you to that, alpha.” You answer, whispering it so that Renée doesn’t overhear you.
He hums over the line, a little laugh after a few moments.
“Thank you, omega, see you later.”
You mumble your goodbye, ending the call on your side.
It warms your core for minutes after, unbelievably turned on by him, unable to deny the way you were feeling, you bring the card up to your nose once more, breathing him in.
.
He sends you a quick message a few minutes before your work day ends to tell you that he’s waiting in the lobby for you.
You feel a nervous twist in your stomach as you close your files, and pack up your things, glancing over to see that Renee hadn’t come back from her trip to the bathroom just yet, normally bidding her goodbye before you leave.
You wonder if you should bring the sunflower with you, but you figure it would be fine here and you can just take it home tomorrow. On the other hand, seeing it here really did make the day more bearable.
You decide to think about it later, heading for the elevator, your bag in hand.
You catch his scent as the doors slide open, smiling wistfully as bergamot surrounds you, tugging you to him.
You round the corner and stop short in shock.
You'd never thought of Renée as a friend in any means, but you'd never seen her as any type of adversary until this very moment, as you watch her smile up at William, her neck tilted to the side slightly in offering.
It's a very bold move, to openly present your scent gland to a possible stranger, and you glance up at his face, noting his expression.
His eyebrows are pinched, mouth turned down into a frown, confusion maybe, perhaps a hint of distaste.
You didn't know you were good at reading lips until this moment as well, but you know without a doubt that he says the words ‘I'm sorry, I'm not interested.’ despite how far away you are.
Then, he turns, eyes meeting yours as if he knew exactly where you were.
He mutters something you think is ‘excuse me,’ before he begins walking in your direction.
In a well pressed white shirt, tucked into charcoal grey pants, he approaches you with even strides, never breaking eye contact, making you feel the intensity of him as he draws near.
You feel your spine stiffen, head angling upward the closer he gets, until he's standing before you, drinking you in.
“Hello, sweetheart, thank you for giving me another chance to see you.”
You gulp.
“D- don't make me regret it.” You stutter out, trying to stand your ground on your boundaries.
“Never.” He promises, extending his elbow out for you to take. You eagerly oblige, reaching up to grip his bicep securely, maybe a little bit more than necessary.
You keep your head down, not wanting to make eye contact with anyone on your way out.
He's not driving this time, guiding you toward a very big SUV, with blackout windows and a cozy leather interior.
There’s so much room, enough for him to extend his legs when he slides in beside you, closing the door and tapping twice on the partition separating the two of you from the driver.
“Wow,” you murmur, looking around, even noticing a small fridge in the space across from you, “This- is this yours?”
He hums.
“Technically, they belong to the company, but I get to use it when I need to.”
You blink, realising that he was trying to be humble about it.
Smiling, you turn to look at him, eyes widening when you realise how close he’d gotten to you when you were distracted.
“You smell like me, omega.” He whispers into the space between you, his dark eyes searching yours, leaning in, he presses his nose to your hair.
You hear the soft inhale, your body stiffening, trying to resist your own instinct to present your scent gland to him. His own scent fills the space around you, and his shaky exhale brushes your ear as he leans away.
“I won’t lie and say I’m not pleased by it. You have power over me, sweetheart, I hope you know that.”
Your breaths sharpen, tucking your bottom lip between your teeth, you bite down harshly trying to recenter your thoughts.
How could he say something like that so easily? As if it were in his nature to be so… devoted.
His gaze dips to your mouth, lingering there for a long moment before he smiles softly.
“How was work today?” He inquires, leaning back further, taking a few deep breaths, in what you can only assume is an attempt to calm himself.
It was great, you want to say, but the words won't come out with the way he's looking at you, as if you're his next meal, or his deity.
You can't decide.
“Omega?”
“Good.” You blurt, losing control of your thinking, did you even really have a good day? You don't have the brain power to remember.
You turn your head away, blinking, trying to… think. It was hard to focus on anything other than him, the way he was filling your head with primal static, the urge to obey, to succumb washing over you.
“I’m sorry,” You finally say, dropping your head into your hands, “being around you isn’t easy. It’s hard to control myself.”
You feel pressure in your throat, tears springing to your eyes, a dam on the brink of bursting.
His hand presses securely between your shoulder blades.
“Breathe,” He says calmly, you turn your head to find warm, encouraging eyes.
Oh, you think to yourself as you follow his instruction, breathing in softly, feeling those primal desires soften under the guidance of the very man causing them.
“There you go,” His voice makes your stomach flutter, “There’s nothing to be sorry about, little one.”
There he goes again, making you want him.
What would it cost, to reach up and kiss him? To press your fingers into his jaw while your mouths meet, to feel him like that, to exist with him in that way?
You let out a soft sigh, relaxing, living in that thought for a few moments.
When he’s sure you’re calm enough, he smiles.
“Now, let’s start over- was your day actually good?”
You feel amusement rise inside of you.
“Yeah,” you utter softly, “No one yelled at me, so I call it a win.”
He blinks, his expression turning sorrowful.
“People often yell at you?”
You nod.
“Customer service… is an excuse for small people to make someone else feel small.”
Something changes in his eyes, sorrow moulting into something else- his jaw tightening.
“I don't like the sound of that.” He admits.
You offer him a wry smile.
“That's just how things are, I guess. This is what I have to work with.” You stop yourself from complaining more, worried that it might upset him to hear the way people treated you, to hear them make derogatory comments, to question your intellect as if you'd personally inconvenienced them.
His hand moves from your shoulder, tracing its way up to the back of your neck, and then to the side, his thumb in perfect reach of your scent gland and your brain goes hazy at the thought.
Instead of your gland, his thumb reaches up to stroke the edge of your jaw calmly.
“What happens if someone is too aggressive? What's the protocol? Do you transfer them to a manager?”
You gulp, remembering one time that happened, you'd gotten reprimanded after.
“Yeah that's the protocol, but I think it's best if I solve the problem myself, and get approvals on my own. It's not usually good to waste my supervisor's time.”
His thumb gently stroking your cheek lulls you, fits you into a space where you feel safe to talk about these things.
“Does anyone at your job yell at you?”
“Not… yell,” you hesitate for a moment, enjoying his caress, “they're just… warnings. I'm- I try to do my best to avoid that.” You huff out a breath, “I guess I got yelled at once, when I first started, but not after that.”
You gulp, glancing at him, the soft fire in his eyes as he studies you, his thumb dipping, circling the spot right above your gland.
Your lips part, your mind begging you to reach out to him.
The car slows to a stop.
You take a deep breath, eyes widening when you scent the mixture of pheromones in the air, you might as well be begging him on your knees with how potent it was. It sort of surprised you that he was able to resist it.
You want to say something to him, anything to fill the silence that swarms in as your eyes meet his, but your brain is blissfully blank, not a single cohesive thought other than how badly you wanted him.
He gives you a patient smile.
“We’re here.” He says.
“Where?” You ask softly.
“Hotel,” He answers softly, “I rented a room so you can get dressed and meet me in the restaurant for dinner.”
Renting a room? On a second date?
“Oh…” You mumble, trying to figure out if you needed to clarify your boundaries for him again.
You don’t get the chance, the door opens and you have to busy yourself with stepping out instead of addressing your concerns.
He extends his hand for you to take, and you do so eagerly, aching even more when you feel his large hand interlocked with yours.
It’s almost like you’re his omega, walking beside him as he confidently guides you into the hotel, nodding at reception and heading straight to the elevators.
The doors close and you can feel your body throbbing. Was he expecting more from you than you were ready for?
“William?”
“Yes, Omega?”
You blink, looking up at him, unable to voice the words, the topic of conversation is too sensitive, the words can barely leave your mouth. Your mind races to find something else to ask.
“Do you- um- live around here?”
He tilts his head for a moment, maybe sensing your hesitation.
“Not really, I live close to where I work, home to office you know?”
You nod, smiling, before facing forward once more, a slither of discomfort in your spine.
You can feel his eyes on you, no doubt trying to read you while you debate whether this was a good idea or not.
When the doors slide open, he begins speaking again.
“I hired a stylist, to help, if that’s okay, I didn’t want to overwhelm you.” He guides you down a well lit hallway, and stops at a door before turning to face you.
“Is this okay? Or is it too much?” He questions softly, and you dip your head, unable to meet his eyes.
“It’s a bit much.” You mumble, looking down at your shoes.
He bends his body, smiling as he manages to fit his head into your line of sight, it pulls a small smile from you too.
“If you could bear with me, omega.” He whispers so softly that the words kick off a yearning need in your head, “I have a surprise that will hopefully make up for it.”
You tilt your head up, and he moves, straightening his body to remain in your line of sight.
“Okay.” You surrender, trying to allow yourself to be swept up by him, even temporarily.
He gives you a pleased smile, hindbrain preening in response that you’ve made alpha happy. He turns, knocking on the door.
After a few moments, an omega with a kind smile opens the door. He introduces her as Maria, and you spare him one more glance before you step into the room, nodding when he says he’ll see you on the roof in two hours.
.
The elevator plays soft music as you travel upward, the sound of your own breathing heavy in your ear.
You weren't sure you'd picked the right dress, a little self conscious that you'd chosen something that might be too juvenile.
The strawberry dress had been too beautiful, your eyes had been drawn to it the moment you saw it, and no matter how hard you tried to convince Maria that it was a bad idea, she'd insisted that you picked the dress you most loved.
You really did like it, the tulle and the colour, and the cut of the dress going so low that you'd skipped your bra and used boob tape to hold your cleavage in place.
You weren't sure how painful removal would be, Maria had suggested baby oil, you just hope you had some at home.
She'd fixed your hair into soft curls,  and she was really nice about what you liked and didn't, and by the end of it, she felt more like a friend helping you than a stylist being paid to do so.
The elevator doors open, and you cautiously step out. You take a deep breath through your nose, catching the faded scent of him, and following it.
Down a short hallway, and into a large open restaurant space. It was quiet, void of anyone, tables and booths empty.
You frown a little, confused as to why a restaurant this opulent would be closed. Sure, it was still daylight out on a weekday, but it didn't make sense to you on a business level.
The entire restaurant is surrounded by floor to ceiling windows, with a large pane of glass in the middle of the room, blurry with falling water.
The soft sound invites you, and as you get closer, You make out a wavy silhouette behind the glass.
You step around it, finding William facing the window, looking down at his phone.
He's dressed pristinely in a dark blue shirt, black pants and shoes, though the top buttons on his shirt are open, giving off a more casual vibe than his work shirt from earlier.
You watch him take a slow breath, and then lift his head in realisation, turning to look at you.
You smile at him as he turns, fitting his phone into his pocket in one swift moment, slowly approaching you.
He doesn't say anything, and you're too afraid to see repulsion in his eyes to keep looking at him, so instead you study his attire as well, admiring the way he looks, noticing the delicate silver chain shimmering around his neck as he moves.
He says your name, and you glance up at him with wide eyes as he stands before you.
He takes another slow breath, and raises a hand to push some of your hair away from your scent gland, the tips of his fingers just gently brushing it, eliciting an almost violent shiver of pleasure.
“You look…” He lets out an amused breath, shakes his head slightly, “I can’t find the right word. Beautiful? Divine? Bewitching. Radiant...”
Delight bubbles inside of you until you can't resist a pleased smile.
“Thank you, Alpha, you look very nice too.”
When you say his title, you watch his eyes darken, his scent growing a little stronger in the space between you as his body calls out to yours.
You can feel it, the heat between you, the promise that he would take care of your every need no matter what.
“Hungry?” He asks, and you swear his words have a double meaning.
You nod, because you can't say it out loud, that you were starving, famished, not just for food but for the pleasure of his company, for the pleasure of him.
He guides you to the far end of the restaurant, towards a secluded corner, where there's a table waiting for you.
You don’t get a chance to study the table because you’re distracted by a large… object covered in a velvet shroud.
You walk around the object, preoccupied with it, turning to look at William with your eyebrows drawn together in confusion.
“It’s my surprise,” He explains, stepping closer to you so that you can breathe him in, “I hope you like it.”
You look at it, the velvet shroud going up high, hanging precariously from the ceiling you think, one firm tug might bring it down.
When you look back at him, he’s got his eyes on you.
“When can I see what it is?” You ask eagerly.
He blinks, as if coming back to himself, glancing at the object as if he’s just remembered it.
“Take a step back,” He instructs, waiting until you comply to give another directive with a low voice.
“Close your eyes.”
Your heart pounds, excitement and anxiety war within you, the former winning over as you let your eyes close.
You hear footsteps, and then a tug, the sound of the shroud falling and the wind it generates as it does, caressing your face.
There’s a moment of silence, where your impatience fights you to open your eyes before he says, but you try your best to wait for William’s permission.
“You can open them now.”
You gasp in shock when you recognise what you’re looking at.
There’s so much gold, the painting glimmers in the light of the falling sun, you take a step forward, unsure of where to begin your examination.
You tilt your head, studying the little flowers first, eyes roaming up to examine the clothing of the two subjects in the portrait, then the hands, the different colours, the flowers in her hair, the leaves in his.
A larger, male subject, pressing a kiss onto his lover’s cheek.
The Kiss, by Gustav Klimt.
“It’s beautiful, so much like the real one.” You murmur absentmindedly.
“It is the real one.”
You pause, unable to register his words, before turning to him in shock, lips parted.
The alpha’s pleased expression grows into a smile.
“What do you mean this is the real one? The real one’s in Europe somewhere.”
He nods, as if to agree with you.
“Vienna, yes.”
You turn to examine the painting once more.
“...How?...Why?”
“I think you’ll find that there’s nothing I wouldn’t do to make your eyes glitter like they are right now.”
Me? You think in shock, looking away, down, towards the floor, unable to process the implications of his words.
He takes a step closer to you, catching your attention, you turn to him just as he reaches you.
For a long moment, all you do is look into each other’s eyes. You take a slow breath, breathing in his citrus smell, the bergamot chasing after you.
You turn your head back to the painting, studying it while you feel his eyes on you.
“It’s gorgeous, Alpha, thank you.” You feel so much emotion, that it fills your throat and threatens to spill out.
Your lip wobbles, glancing up at him for a moment, and then turning away when you realise that he can probably see the tears in your eyes.
You feel his hand on your arm.
“What’s wrong, sweetheart? Why the tears?”
“It’s stupid, sorry.” You take a deep breath, sighing when he extends a handkerchief to you that you accept gratefully.
His hand moves, to wrap around your back, pulling you into his chest.
“Talk to me.” He whispers, his breath disturbing your hair.
“No one’s ever-” You let out a little laugh of delirium, “-No one’s ever done something so thoughtful for me.”
He hums, as though he understands, sympathizes with you, he wraps his arms around you, tucks your head into his chest.
His scent wraps around you, soothing you almost instantly, your eyes flutter shut as you register the beat of his heart below your ear.
“I just wanted to see you smile.” He says.
You do.
.
Dinner comes in a few moments later, and he guides you to the table just behind, with soft, comfortable chairs to settle into. He even checks in on your level of ease, inquiring about the brightness, and whether or not it was satisfactory. You smile softly, calmly reassuring him that the area was perfect, the tint on the windows keeping the intensity of the light low. Dim and comfortable, you can’t really ask for anything more.
The first course is a light broth, and you're a little confused that they brought this out without having you look at a menu.
It's definitely refreshing, to not have to struggle with a decision on what to eat, but you're not sure if to ask William about it, in case it's just some rich person custom that you're unfamiliar with.
In any case, this arrangement pleases you because it means you can stare at The Kiss in admiration while the sun sets, casting a soft orange glow around the room, enhancing the mostly gold painting.
“Will you tell me about it?” William asks, and you spare a shy glance at him.
He tilts his head in the direction of the painting. You swallow your food, gathering your thoughts to answer.
“It's inspired by the painter and his lover, it's one of the most popular paintings of an alpha and omega pairing. There was a… speculation that they were soulmates, but I'm not sure how true that is. Some people think that because the omega is turning away, that the kiss isn't consensual… but I don't think so, she seems… happy to me.”
“You don't think they were soulmates?”
You turn to William.
“Not really, I don't… believe in the soulmate theory.”
He raises an eyebrow.
“No?” He says curiously.
You shake your head.
“It's a little unreal to think that there’s some kind of perfect match for a person.”
“It's not necessarily a perfect match like in the movies, it's a suggestion of… compatibility really.” He says.
You blink, studying his expression, wanting to express your disbelief that he would believe in something so farfetched but not wanting to be disrespectful.
“It's not even a perfect match, it's the way the theory specifically targets alpha and omega pairings. As if omegas aren't already bound by their biology enough, someone had to come up with an idea to hold us back even further by romanticising the concept of an alpha match.” You keep your tone calm, so that he understands you're not upset.
He tilts his head in contemplation.
“You don't like the idea of being with an alpha?”
You swallow.
“That's… not what I mean. I just don't like being forced into thinking that it's my only option in search of companionship.”
He makes a face of contemplation, seeming to understand where you were coming from.
Plus, it was a trick alphas had used with you in the past to encourage you to stay in toxic environments.
Don't give up on us, omega, we're soulmates, I can feel it.
You had been fooled before, it would not happen again.
William studies you for a long moment, and you gaze back evenly, before he smiles, tilting his head once more to lighten the mood.
“You make a good point, but still, I can’t help but point out the ways alphas are made for omegas, of course a pairing between them would be stronger.”
His words take you aback, it's the first time someone has ever made the comment that alphas are the ones made for omegas, usually they say it the other way around.
“Maybe…” You concede, unable to stop yourself from thinking about his words. You wonder for a brief moment if he was made for you.
It sends a warm feeling across your chest.
You turn your head, looking up at The Kiss.
“My past experience has made me skeptical about the entire theory, Alphas before have used it to keep me compliant.”
He lets out an audible breath, and when you turn your head to look at him, you find his fists curled and his head dipped low.
The scent of anger hits you, spicy in the air, like a mix between smoke and hot peppers.
“Alpha?” You whisper in concern, worried that his anger is directed toward you.
Tentatively, you reach out, fingers shaking slightly as you touch one of his clenched fists.
He relaxes the fist, turns his hand upward so that his palm is pressed upward into yours. Your palm tingles where you touch.
“Angry on your behalf, omega,” He tries to explain with a low voice, “You shouldn't have had to go through that.”
Realisation washes over you. The smell of his anger excites you now that you understand it's not directed at you.
You feel butterflies, you feel warmth, you suck in a deep breath to get some semblance of control over your hindbrain.
“Thank you, Alpha.” Your voice, almost a purr.
He blinks, studying you,  his eyes shifting from surprise to pleased as he realises the effect he has on you.
The sound of footsteps coming your way makes you draw back.
The second course is lobster pasta, creamy and delicious and you try extra hard not to make yourself messy while eating it.
“What do you think?” He asks between bites of his food.
You look up, eyes wide as he gazes back at you.
You swallow your food, thinking hard about what to say.
“I'm still skeptical about the soulmate theory, but maybe you're right that it does exist. Looking at the painting up close, you see that gold aura surrounding both of them? I think that's supposed to represent their bond. They loved each other, there's no question there.”
You watch a smile pull onto his perfect face.
“I meant the meal, sweetheart.”
Your face grows warm.
“Oh… It's good!” You look down at the plate shyly, “Yeah.”
He chuckles.
“You're very cute when you're shy.”
You bite the edge of your lip, looking up at him through your eyelashes.
He grins down at you and something warm settles in your stomach. You wanted to kiss him.
Maybe you could, maybe he would let you.
In this beautiful dress you feel like you're not yourself, your insecurities washing away under his gaze. For the first time, you’re just an omega, enjoying the company of an alpha that you hope could be yours in time.
You think about being in his arms, the way he makes you feel, his ability to soothe you, the ways you hope he would sate you.
You suck in a deep breath, trying to calm yourself before your pheromones give away your needy state of mind.
Should you take him up on his offer to be his Omega? Would it be possible to balance that? How would it even work?
“William?” You say softly.
He pauses his movements to look at you.
“Earlier- Maria called you ‘Billy’- made me wonder if you were friends?”
The corner of his lips pull into an affectionate smile, you try really hard not to worry about the other omega.
“Maria is mated to my brother, Frank. She owns a small salon on the east side, I thought she would help you feel comfortable.”
That's so thoughtful, you think.
“Yes, she was amazing, thank you.”
If this was a trap, then it was well set, you couldn't see a flaw, you didn't have any reason to think he could be like other Alphas.
“Everyone has called me “Billy” for as long as I can remember. My real name had never really appealed to me until I heard you say it.”
You give him a warm smile, your stomach fluttering at the privilege you didn't realize you had until now.
You wanted this so much that it terrified you. To be his Omega- what would it be like? To have unrestrained access to him, to be able to scent him as you please, to be scented in return.
He sucks in a sharp breath, leaning away, it catches your attention. Your eyes widen when you realise your pheromones are heavy in the air.
His eyes roll shut, he lets out a shaky breath, fingers curling because of you for the second time tonight.
It doesn't help, the look of him, barely restrained, fighting his nature with every ounce of self control only makes you want him more.
“I'm sorry.” You whisper, scared to break his focus.
He lets out a breath, a smile pulling the corner of his mouth. The look of leashed delirium in his eyes when he finally opens them.
“Don't be.” He responds, his voice so deep that it almost makes you shiver with how pleasing it sounds.
You suck in deep breaths too, to calm yourself, eyes drifting to the painting to let it distract you.
You certainly were a match, there was no question about it, the urge to tear at each other was there, the only thing holding you back was social etiquette, and your internal reservations.
The effect your heat must have had on him- you almost feel sorry for what you might have put him through.
Dessert is a caramel drizzled pecan cookie, soft and chewy, the right amount of spices and sugar that makes you lick your fingers afterwards with the knowledge that it was the best cookie you've ever had.
You catch him looking at you with kind eyes and you try your best not to shy away from his gaze.
When you excuse yourself to the restroom, you try to look like you know where you're going, at least until you're out of his eyesight, and then you wander around the empty restaurant until you find a sign pointing you in the right direction.
You’re in one of the stalls when you hear loud voices and footsteps.
“-my god! That is literally the hottest Alpha I’ve ever seen in real life.” A first voice says, on the side of a little too high pitched for your sensitive ears.
“I knoooow,” The other person responds, “I would literally do anything he asked me to do.”
You pause, feeling a little strange to interrupt their obviously personal conversation by stepping out.
“I heard from Tim that he rented out the entire restaurant for the night just to impress some omega.”
Wait, were they talking about William?
You hear the stall next to you open and close, the taps turning on.
“No, I think they had to clear the restaurant for the night because of the painting and something about security.”
“Oh, that makes sense, the amount he must have paid to get all that done in one evening. God, I would jump him literally after dessert.”
You hear a groan, the sound of water as the taps turn on.
“I know right? I’ve been totally scenting the air in hopes that he gives me a second look. Nothing too obvious, only subtle enough for him. I really, really hope…”
The rest is unintelligible as the voices fade.
You wait a few more moments to make sure they’re really gone before you unlatch the door and step out.
It’s a lot of information to have overheard, and you’re not really sure what to think.
You step up to the sink, washing your hands methodically, reaching for a little towel to dry your hands, before looking up at your reflection in the mirror.
You smile at yourself, hindbrain preening that Alpha had gone through such lengths to capture and hold your attention. That maybe, Alpha wanted you, really really wanted you and no other omega would do.
He’s standing at the painting when you see him again, the table has been cleared, and you watch him as he focuses on the canvas in front of him.
He turns to look at you when he catches movement in his peripherals.
You’re very skittish to approach him, your mind spinning at a mile a minute, trying to both overthink and under simplify the actions you want to make.
The expression on your face must worry him, his eyebrows draw together as he studies you.
“Is everything alright?” He asks calmly, and you lift your head, studying his face of concentration.
You part your lips, trying to speak, no words able to leave your moving lips.
He dips his head, trying to make sense of the nothingness escaping you.
His scent fills your nose, the citrus, the bergamot, a very new touch of spice that pushes your hindbrain into desperation.
“Alpha.” You whisper softly, a touch of yearning in your voice, tilting your head up to press your lips to his.
It’s an instant, and total erasure of any higher thought. The way his mouth feels against yours, like something ancient and primal finding its way back to each other again. A familiarity that your mind and body has been searching for from the day you presented.
It’s over too soon, even though it feels like it lasted forever. Time slows as you lean away, looking up at him, searching his eyes for any sign that you’ve made the wrong move, the ghost of his touch tingling at your lips.
You listen to the depth of his breathing, your heart hammering anxiously in your chest, awaiting his reaction. You catch a flare of his scent, the citrus notes deepening and your hindbrain eases your anxiety, a response that tells you that Alpha is pleased.
Finally, he makes a low hum, stepping forward, one arm winding around your back so that your bodies are pressed flush to each other.
“Omega.” He rumbles in response, fingers under your chin to tilt your head, guiding your mouth to his once more.
His mouth is insistent, pressing back, meeting every move of your desire with a response of his own. He moans, his warm breath on your tongue as the kiss grows into something… more.
Losing yourself, your hands cling to his shoulders, finding balance as you rise onto your toes, desperate to taste him, to feel the ache of yearning ease with each move of his mouth.
His lips are soft, sinful, you can feel his barely restrained movements, his hand gliding to grip the back of your neck, trapping you in place as if you could ever think about departing from his embrace.
Your scent gland tingles, spilling your need into the air, your body trying its best to entice him.
His mouth grows more insistent, demanding, and you find yourself responding, lips parting, tongue reaching out to gently graze along his bottom lip.
His hold on you tightens, fingers gripping your hip deliciously, desire pooling low in your stomach in response.
Both of his hands cup your face, kisses slowing as if he's trying to find the strength to stop but unable to.
You smile into the kisses, each one more meaningful than the last, until finally he pauses, looking down at you with a pleased expression on his face.
His thumb glides along your lips, the scent of both your desires intermingling heavily in the air.
“I take it then, that you don't want me to leave you alone after this?”
You huff out a laugh, almost rolling your eyes.
He grins too, before leaning in to get one more kiss.
“Maybe,” you murmur softly, “Maybe I don't.”
He hums in agreement, dipping his head, unable to stop himself from getting yet another kiss.
Your heart feels so full in your chest, it feels like you're going to burst with the flood of emotion. He doesn't push you into anything, avoids touching your scent glands though you know you both want him to. You can feel his fingers tightening their grip on your cheek and jaw, trying their hardest not to wander.
His scent grows more potent in the room, and by the time you leave, the betas in the restaurant are giving him their largest doe eyed stares.
It's a shame for them that he barely spares them a glance, his hand settled on the small of your back to put you at ease by making you feel protected.
His scent overwhelms you in the car, but you've been aching and wet for a while and you've just kind of gotten used to the discomforts of unresolved desire. You know without a doubt that you're going to have to relieve this ache inside of you by yourself tonight, and it's definitely going to be his name on your tongue the entire time you do it.
You take a long look at him beside you, and you wonder if he would be doing the same.
Tucked into his side, it's easy to tilt your head up, and press your nose to his scent gland, breathing him in, hearing him groan in response, your body tingling.
He doesn't stop you, and you have to bite down on your bottom lip hard to stop yourself from kissing the spot on the base of his neck.
It's surreal, the time you spend with him, that when he stops at the wrong building, it's like a punch to the gut.
This is where you'd lied and told him you lived… because you were ashamed of your real address.
“Can I walk you to your door?” He asks politely, warm reassurance in his eyes that he simply wants to make sure you're safe.
“No.” You answer hastily, smiling in an attempt to put him at ease, “I'm alright, thank you.”
You glance down at your strawberry dress, anxiety filling you at the thought of being seen in something like this, that it might catch attention you didn't want.
“It's cold outside, do you want my coat?”
You blink up at him in surprise.
He gives you a teasing smile, reaching for a garment on the seat in front of him, producing a familiar coat and extending it to you.
You swallow, accepting the coat on autopilot, face heating as you remember the things you did with this coat during your last heat.
You bring it up to your nose, hindbrain in control, taking a slow inhale of his scent.
Fuck, it was delicious. Your mouth waters as you meet his dark eyes.
“Thank you, Alpha.” You purr, sliding the coat on, over your dress, watching his eyes darken further at the sound of your voice.
He reaches up, trapping a lock of your hair between his fingers, twisting it, tugging on it gently as his hand slides down.
He looks like he’s deep in thought, but you’re just not sure about what.
“Goodnight, Omega.” He finally says, after a few moments of silence.
Stepping out of the car, leaving him behind, your limbs grow heavy with protest the further away you get from him.
When you make it into the building, you finally see his SUV drive away.
.
There’s an ache to leaving you behind that leaves Billy both confused and captivated.
He lets out a slow breath, sinking into the seat, head tipped back.
Keeping himself in check had been the most difficult thing he’d ever experienced. To look at you, was to want you, and to want you, was to need you. Every look, every touch, every smile on your mouth was a lesson in self control.
He was unbelievably afraid of scaring you away, that his control would slip, and his desires would show, and they would terrify you into leaving.
The ways he wanted you, the ways he thought about you. He lets out a soft groan, tugging at his shirt to get himself more air, but all he can smell is you.
He wants the feel of your bare hips in his hands, the taste of your skin in his mouth, his lips over your scent gland, your pitiful little whines filling his ears as he takes his time with you, discovering every way one human can make another fall apart, so that he can put you back together again.
Thoughts, that were maybe too insane to be thinking after a second date. Thoughts that would make you run if you knew just how close he’d been to actually carrying them out. No Omega, had ever made him hurt with the fear of rejection quite like this before.
That solid ache in his chest to be in your presence was only getting stronger, and then you'd kissed him.
He lifts a hand, pressing it to his mouth, remembering the way your lips had felt, the way your scent had sweetened. He resists a groan, your scent calling out to him like a beacon in the dark.
With his eyes closed, he could feel a pull, drawing him in the opposite direction of where he was going.
His apartment is lonely. The silence is loud, the smell is all wrong. He fits himself into his single sofa chair, large enough that his pretty Omega could fit herself into the space beside him, or on top of him if she’d like. He sips on the whiskey in his hand, an attempt to ease his nerves, to make the wrongness of his place feel a little less so.
He lets the silence fill him, wonders what you’re doing, thinks about texting you. He opens his phone and sees all his sent messages.
Billy hesitates.
Maybe he should wait, let you reach out this time, whenever you were ready.
Puts his phone down, thinks about you more, groans when he catches your scent on his clothes.
It hurt to wait. It made his chest burn with the notion that he couldn’t just reach out to you, because you might draw back.
He presses a hand to his chest, tries to take a deep breath and be patient.
The whiskey is almost finished when he feels his phone vibrate.
He picks it up, and smiles.

Alright, so one thing I absolutely love about the potential later conflict between Fizz and Ozzie is that they both come from very understandable places.
For Fizz, he has every right to want to be out by himself and just do things independently. You can tell up until he ran into Blitz he enjoyed his day out and getting to do something on his own.
Tumblr media
And then we have Ozzie's perspective. He's overprotective of Fizz but to be completely fair, considering what we've seen so far, he's seen Fizz get hurt a LOT. Like A LOT a lot.
For instance, as far as we can tell, he's the only one who works on Fizz's limbs, and considering the fact that he has spare parts around, we can safely assume that Fizz needing a tune up isn't exactly a rare occurrence. Plus the fact that he's probably been there for the better part of Fizz's recovery would show him more just how vulnerable Fizz really is. It also probably doesn't help that Fizz still manages to get hurt even when Ozzie is literally right next to him.
Tumblr media
Ozzie knows that Fizz isn't helpless, but seeing someone you love get hurt can is really scary. And considering Ozzie likely feels that kind of fear constantly, it makes sense that he would be just a tad too overbearing. Plus considering Fizz never makes a serious fuss about his tendencies and even seems to agree sometimes, Ozzie thinks that Fizz is fine with how things are.
Back to Fizz, despite him and Ozzie being on numerous levels of understanding, he likely feels like he can really say anything because it turns out that Ozzie's worries were in fact valid. Not to mention that because he and Ozzie are so in sync, he probably knows how Ozzie feels about this whole thing and would feel guilty bringing it up.
Tumblr media
People interpret this frame as either Fizz feeling guilty for worrying Ozzie and getting himself in trouble, others interpret it as sadness that he probably won't be able to go out alone in at least a while. Why can't it be both?
That being said, Fizzmodeus is still a wholesome and healthy couple, but it's interesting to see how this topic will be brought up in the future. I just like how the two of them come from very understandable places, and how neither are entirely in the wrong (Fizz should speak up and Ozzie should be less protective). It's also kind of refreshing to see a relationship with problems where one isn't entirely in the wrong (like M&M), and they are both on equal levels with each other (unlike Stolitz).
(Because whereas Stolas and Blitz are in places where they can't really understand each other or talk about their problems, Ozzie and Fizz are in a place where they understand each other so well that they don't feel like they need to.)

weird/uncommon genres | dr ideas
Tumblr media
date: december 16, 2024
Tumblr media
Im never making a joke again 😭 after talking to my friend abt it, i feel better, but im still too scared. I thought poop jokes were childish and funny, like “your mom” 😭 regardless, nobody's seeing a joke from me ever again unless it’s on tiktok-- just to be clear tho, even if I found it funny, if the other party didn't, obviously the fault relies on me
I saw a guy get canceled for saying “your mom” too— though tbf it’s bc in Confucian countries it’s really bad to joke about your parents
sjfhdhsks I wanna cry…
Anyway, I haven't done these in awhile; I'm not sure if yall like my aethergarde academy posts more, these kinds of posts, or both (equally).
it's been awhile-- here's some weird ass genres you could make a DR from.
disclaimer: I used chatgpt (out of curiousity for some of these genres, those genres are made up and are not actual terms. Italicized ideas are ones from chatGPT. Guys it's unfair how good chatgpt is getting.. my brother told me that the goal of the current model is to have the AI simulate proper critical thinking instead of simply spitting out information.. isn't that crazy)
Tumblr media
futuristic
cli-fi - this genre delves not only into climate change itself, but issues relating to the sun disappearing, or the world freezing. I remember seeing a shifter somewhere saying that she shifted here bc in her previous reality climate change was getting really really bad.
social sci-fi - focuses on how humans interact and behave in a futuristic setting.
planetary romance - exploration of different planets + romance, especially with an alien. Also characterized by distinctive extraterrestrial cultures and backgrounds.
data gothic - cyberpunk x gothic horror; characters encounter malevolent AI beings, digital ghosts, and corrupted data streams.
cosmic agriculture - genre focused on growing plant life in outer space or on different planets. Can also including breeding alien organisms (bacteria).
psychic noir - solve crimes in a world where memories, emotions, and thoughts could be hacked, manipulated, or weaponized. I think I'd make the memory thing extremely hard to do, since if it was too common I think it'd cause way too much havoc.
eco-metamorphosis - kinda like alien stage, but if you'd like, it could be less dark. This genre centers around earth being colonized by aliens, but the goal isn't to reject these changes, but rather to coexist with the other species.
liminal
slipstream - "speculative fiction that blends together science fiction, fantasy, and literary fiction or does not remain in conventional boundaries of genre and narrative"
abandoned intentions - explore incomplete worlds-- as if the world was abandoned mid-creation.
fantasy
lost world - discovering a hidden civilization, like atlantis or lumeria.
subterranean - a world that is primarily in an underground setting; similar to the hollow earth theory.
mythic/mythopeia -  "fiction that is rooted in, inspired by, or that in some way draws from the tropes, themes, and symbolism of myth, legend, folklore, and fairy tales."; very similar to my wandering apocathary dr.
oceanic
nautical fiction - relationship between humans and the sea; "human relationship to the sea and sea voyages and highlights nautical culture in these environment".
wholesome/cute
furry sleuth - this is not about furries-- this is essentially a mystery where the main character is a household animal, typically a dog. Said animal would be the detective and solve mysteries.
cashier memoir - this genre always takes place in the head of a cashier. The goal is to come across as many different kinds of people as possible. This would be incredibly boring in this reality, but imagine if you were a barista in a fantasy or futuristic reality... you'd come across a lot of people without much effort or mental strain.
epistolary - a story told exclusively through fictional letters, newspaper articles, emails, and even texts. This isn't necessarily a genre of DR, but I think it'd be really interesting to guess/assume the plot of a DR through short snippets of letters or texts.

i gotta tell you what ive read two hours of wholesome monster girl academia and
1. its fucking boring. but
2. its like completely uncritically set in a monstergirl residential school. the protagonist thinks about how monsters are better off at private catholic academies instead of public school. its established in the loredump at the beginning of the game that monsters were uncontacted peoples discovered via the first uses of satellite photography. they were genocided by most of human society but for whatever reason the pope declared that all are equal under the eyes of god and is stated to have allowed interspecies marriages well before it was legal. none of the monsters you get to know ever express anything regarding having a culture outside of catholicism, including one (a daywalker, the child of a human and vampire) who is actively repulsed by his vampire lineage and verbatim says that "vampires are 100% evil." crazy subtext in this thing
2.5 sorry i cannot get over that monsterfucker marriages were officiated by catholic churches, IN TEXT, before interracial or gay marriages were
3. there are many weird details that (speaking as someone who was raised catholic and went to sunday school) immediately scream that the author is either not catholic or an adult convert. which makes the choice to commit to this bit so intensely just baffling to me. like they have mass on wednesday which is (to my knowledge) exclusively a protestant practice. all the spaces you inhabit (particularly the religious ones) are not nearly as ostentatious as you would expect from a catholic church. like their chapel is more spartan than the one attached to the sunday school i went to. they wont even involve the more interesting/iconic catholic rituals like lent because its set in OCTOBER. where are my fish feast fridays.
4. the fucking vampires dont even drink blood so we dont even get the awesome lore possibility that the eucharist is filling to them because its literally the body and blood of christ
