Note
Since LO doesn't rlly have a buffer how much of a buffer does LR have? And how much would you say is a good buffer?
Sorry if this is random, just curious!
LR's buffer is less focused on having episodes completed ahead of time and more focused on having episodes written ahead of time. Drawing the episodes is pretty straightforward, especially when it's streamlined between Banshriek and myself, so my priorities are more focused on the actual writing and planning as, without it, Banshriek and I will be totally lost on how to progress in the next episodes.
It's kind of like a card house - the more work that's done to build a foundation through the plotting and sketching, the less work that's needed later to actually create the episodes. It kinda looks like this:
Tumblr media
I can't really accomplish the full tower without the foundation that precedes it, so my "buffer" is largely spent on preparing episodes ahead of time in the scripting and sketching stage. At any given point in the comic's production, I usually have 10-15 episodes scripted, 5 major plot beats established, and 3-5 episodes sketched out with the dialogue written in. This allows me to have enough of a roadmap that I know where to go but not too rigid that I can't make changes as I'm going through any of the following steps (ex. whatever I have written in the scripting stage may change during the sketching stage, so a lot of my 'scripting' is restricted to scene-by-scene bullet notes and noteworthy lines of dialogue that I want to work in).
All of this saves me the stress of writing and designing things on the fly. And then if something has to change during the sketching process, I still know where I need to end up :3 This is especially helpful with episodes that I plan out months ahead of when they're meant to be created, because then it gives me enough time to "distance" myself from the episode and later revisit it and find any flaws or opportunities for improvement that I may not have noticed when initially drafting it. Kind of like when artists take breaks from an illustration and then return to it a few days later when they can notice mistakes their brains didn't notice before 😆
So right now, Banshriek and I are working on the flats and production of Episode 61 - but I have Episodes 62, 63, and 64 sketched out, and the next 10-15 episodes planned out in my word doc!

The Bangtan Gal Masterlist
Tumblr media
Author's Note: Hey! I wrote this story back in 2016 on some fanfic websites and am bringing it back as I edit the chapters. I wanted to put my perspective and imagination on what if BTS had a black girl in their group from America. This'll be a long story starting from their debut so enjoy the ride!
I have so many chapters already written. I had stopped in the story around late 2016 before the MAMA Awards. As I wrote this story over the years I wanted this character to be relatable and grow as a performer as well as go through hardships. It'll be a slow start but it will get better as the chapters go on, I hope you give it a chance.
This will mainly start with friendship. Not just the character and the love interest. I didn't want to rush things and I tried my best to add a lot of bonding and cute moments. This is a SLOW BURN with my OC and Jungkook. The two will not become a couple until 2016.
I'm also on Wattpad and Archive of Our Own

ASLFUA - Spot Seo Jisu!
We all know that Jisu is good at running away from the teacher, but he seems to be especially good at hiding from us readers as well. With this post I've tried to gather every appearance of his before his official introduction that are probably canon. The list might get edited in the future once we know more about him ~
Episode 1: The narrator reminisces about how Miae had a lot of friends in the neighbourhood and we see a small panel of Jisu transferring to another elementary school and the whole class crying for him, including Miae.
Episode 148 confirmed that Jisu was present in Miae's childhood memories that were shown to us in ep1. For some reason, Jisu's entire presence was erased from Miae's memories, except the time he singled her out in his letter, but she didn't know who he was or what he looked like.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Episode 23: one of the first times we get a glimpse of the Block 1 students. Based on the seating arrangement, we might have had a look at Jisu's head from behind. This image appears in other chapters as well, for example episode 40.
Tumblr media
Episode 39?: When Cheol's classmates ask him to play soccer, there's a boy with a similar haircut as Jisu standing in the background.
Episode 44?: After the mole guy, Shim, tries to bully Miae and ends up running away, we see a boy with his hands in his pockets, looking at him.
Tumblr media
He has a similar hairstyle like Jisu and this could be important because Jisu has noticed this guy bullying Miae several times (and even tried to take revenge).
At the end of the episode, Cheol's classmates are talking about the soccer tournament and someone mentions how they should ask Seo Jisu from their class to join.
Episode 55: Cheol kicks Miae's mechanical pencil into Jisu's chair who was sleeping during class.
Episode 56: Miae finds her pencil on her desk and assumes it was Cheol's doing (so she decides to forgive him for their argument). We see that Cheol was indeed looking for the pencil behind a sleeping Jisu in Block 1, but he doesn't seem to know why Miae is happy -> in conclusion, it was Jisu who returned it.
Miae sleeps in class and gets sent out to the corridor. The teacher also tells Jisu and the boy who sits behind him to wake up (the guy who had a grudge against Miae). Someone, likely Jisu, visibly flinches when Miae suddenly turns around.
Miae's friends talk about handsome boys and someone mentions the guy who ranks 1st place. We now know it was Jisu because he took his midterms seriously for some reason after drawing a fish the previous year for his finals.
Episode 57: Jisu is in the background walking when their classmate tries to scold Miae for being loud.
Episode 58: Jisu is sleeping in class
Episode 60: Jisu becomes Miae's folk dance partner. While she's looking at Cheol, Miae keeps bumping into him and almost stepping on his foot (and likely did not look at his face the whole time lol)
Episode 61: When Miae asks Jisu about directions, he tells her he doesn't know it either and should do it however she wants to.
Episode 62: Jisu tells Miae to cut her bangs because she might have a hard time seeing what's in front of her (the foreshadowing is real guys)
Episode 63: the boys tell Seonghan they will replace him with Jisu if he keeps up the bad game
Episode 64: someone grabs Miae by her collar to save her from the crowd, but we know it was not Cheol, so it leaves Jisu
Episode 65: in a flashback Seonghan is asking Jisu if he's going to replace him, Jisu says he might if he doesn't play, he doesn't know. After the folk dance, Jisu remarks Miae must have practised but she should still cut her bangs.
Episode 66: Jisu is walking behind Cheol before Miae loses her name tag after bumping into Cheol
Episode 67: Cheol calls Miae a weirdo while Jisu is passing by, looking surprised. Cheol quickly says he didn't mean him. This scene makes so much more sense when we remember on Jisu's profile his hidden nickname was the same word Cheol used here, "weirdo". It makes me think he was called by that by his bullies in school for his personality (but Cheol didn't mean to offend Miae here, it is a context-dependent word)
Episode 71: when the boys come into the classroom after playing outside and Miae is looking at Cheol, Jisu calls her a pervert while he's passing by. Miae thinks it was Seonghan and hits him while Jisu puts on his headset and walks away.
Episode 72: Jisu walks to school wearing Miae's name tag and his headset. Miae notices him and gets angry.
Episode 73: Miae tells Cheol to chase after the guy with the headset.
Episode 75: Miae and her friends want to find the name tag thief while she walks right by a sleeping Jisu lol. She can only remember that he was wearing a headset.
At the end of the chapter we get Jisu's official introduction.
Btw I find it funny how Miae knows nothing about these things and what her reaction might be once she realizes. After these episodes, Jisu still had foreshadowing scenes like when Cheol chased after him on the street or when it turned out he said he liked Miae in elementary school, but I only wanted to include episodes before his introduction that most probably involved him in the background.
One day I might be back with another long post about divine intervention in the story. Hope you guys liked this one!

part 4 of season 1, episode 10
49. “I’m not letting jace sacrifice my sister for his girlfriends pointless crusade.”-can we at least talk about how angry Alec is????? he found out his parents lied about their history, how jace lied about taking clary back (not agreeing about the meliorn thing but it is added irritation for Alec.) to the institute, how he stole the cup, and now Izzy’s life hangs in the balance. and it may seem dramatic but it would mean Izzy could never be a shadowhunter ever again. Jace and clary running off while Izzy’s life is hanging by a thread
Tumblr media
50. some may look at Alec and think he’s overreacting but you have to take a look at Alec and everything he has been dealing with. he’s broken so many clave rules for clary, “has” feelings for jace and is watching jace do things he would never do for Alec. this bond is so weak and half sided that I’m surprised it ever did repair. I think 100% jace is the issue because he’s the one who weakened it. he takes advantage of Alec and this is something I’m not willing to argue with. it’s very clear that jace expects Alec to do whatever he wants him to do. how many times have we seen or heard jace ask what Alec needs or wants? he’s always putting his needs before Alec’s.
51. “Promise you won’t let it break.”-hodge “Jace is dead to me.”- now that’s my Alec 🔥✨ I’m actually surprised how much Alec has allowed without going off on jace. I’m not as nice apparently lmao SORRY IM PETTY LMAO
52. want to make a small parallel:
Tumblr media
53. the “to us” scene is almost the exact same as the one in episode 4, but also “to use” has a lot of meaning because this line has been used on three separate occasions. in episode 4, 10 of season one and also the third season finale. it’s got a lot of meaning ✨
54. I believe AU Alec and Magnus met up and just fell instantly in love and lived a happy life together and they had zero worries because there are no demons and no jace and clary to “protect”. they just do their own thing away from Malec as they fucking should. THEY ARE HAPPY OK?????? 🫶🏼
55. this is probably the most I will ever like jace (not counting clary since technically it’s the same clary) because he’s not being self centered that we see and he actually seems relaxed and not a irritating dick
56. I think it’s funny how clary has had barely an training besides with alec which lasted not even a minute and jace telling her how to hold a blade- that she knows how to fight now. she’s had barely any training and all of a second, a skilled shadowhunter? it doesn’t make sense and this realm, they no longer have need for shadowhunters. unless she’s had training before when they were needed (and if Jocelyn and Valentine told her everything and trained her as a shadowhunter- yes that does make sense) but it’s still weird that she suddenly knows how to fight (wait for Alec and clary training towards the end of this list)
57. oh no jace is injured. how awful for him
58. let the useless dickhead die PLEASE
59. Alec is like I tried little sis 😭
Tumblr media
60. at least they are on speaking terms, right???? (I know it’s basically the same gif but it warms my cold heart)
Tumblr media
61. goodbye AU alec 😭🥰 I JUST LOVE HIM SO MUCH OKAY CAN YOU BLAME ME
Tumblr media
62. also another parallel that won’t be mentioned until season 2 for those who are reading and haven’t watched the show
Tumblr media
63. bonus scene I didn’t get to add for episode 5:
Tumblr media
64. I’m sorry but it’s just so fun to watch lmao she could’ve used that more often
65. small note- I really love the differences with show Izzy and Alec vs the books. when I read the books, I didn’t get the feeling that Alec and Izzy were all that close. but in the show, they’re super close with Alec growing and starting to tell Izzy things. izzy and Alec barely fight- except for this episode instance and when the demon enters the institute in season 2. also I like the fact that shadowhunters can shapeshift as in the books, Tessa is the only one known to do it.
66. Alec can fight on his whole and proudly handle his own affairs and business. he’s not displayed as some ratty weak fighter who can’t learn anything and has to wish he was like jace. he’s his own person. and this is something that is very important when it comes to Alec. from these first 10 episodes, he is trying to manage his emotions as best as he can while also figuring out the path for him. he obviously is attracted to Magnus but is fighting it the best he can in this cat and mouse game they have going on
67. Izzy is a wonderful sister. she’s such a girls girl. befriending clary, always having Alec’s back, being one of the fiercest fighters as well as aiding her family in any way she can, and constantly trying to do the right thing. I’m not a fan of book Izzy all that much. but that’s on the writing.
68. Simon has also been going through many changes. leaving his old life behind and creating a new one. I think he’s doing marvelously well and show Simon is so much better
69. Jace and clary are still insufferable but not as bad as book CLACE. oh and “valentine” is there at the end of this episode and basically taunts jace and clary in almost handing over the cup- just like Alec predicted 😬
70. I’ve already touched on magnus. he’s caring, supportive, opening his heart to a new love even if that love is tricky. warlock, fortune teller, spell enthusiast, PLUS LAWYER. I’d have him represent me ✨ I have so much love for show Alec and Magnus and I have already bothered so much of y’all about that. Matt and Harry made sure show Malec mattered and didn’t take a backseat like they did in the books
okay so 70 was the number today. I originally thought there was 5 parts but forgot the trial doesn’t take place until next episode. thank you for joining we love AU magnus and Alec and ugh more CLACE scenes WHY debate and discussion ✨ stick around for next episode aka malecs first fight lmao
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and also thank you anyway who reads my content, much love to ya (THESE GIFS ARE NECESSARY)

my own ranking of every rick and morty episode, inspired by the lovely @fandomwe1rd0 :3
sorry this is a bit scattered, the random quotes are just lines that i liked/found funny. i had to shorten all my reasonings by a fuck ton bcs i was just going on forever lmao, so if some things feel kinda cut off, that's why.
i binged all of rick and morty in like a week to make this, just to make sure the ranking was fully accurate to me and it took me way to long but i'm finally done !!
btw this isnt a ranking of which episodes are objectively the best, its very biased and just my personal opinions, im aware some epsiodes definitely shouldnt be as high as they are but a lot of them are just my comfort episodes 🤷
f tier: episodes i actively dislike, have little to no redeeming qualities.
71. rickdependance spray: audibly said "oh, fuck no." when i realised this was next. the rest of weird-ish episodes have some redeeming points but this one just has no plot relevance and isnt very funny.
70. raising gazorpazorp: main reason i dislike this episode is the end credit, it reminds me of when i was listening to family line and my dad insinuated conan was making it up and that if i got famous i'd do the same, like, no, if i talk abt what a shitty dad you are its bcs you were a shitty dad, do better. anyway i just thought it was an unfunny joke. due to daddy issues. also its just a boring episode.
69. a rickconvenient mort: summer and rick's storyline was ok but not enough to make up for how much i hate planetina. i liked beth in this episode. rick and summer's dynamic was nice too, but unhealthy.
e tier: episodes i don't dislike, just find boring/have bad elements but more redeeming qualities.
68. m. night shaym-aliens!: the little crystal wrestle was adorable. other than that not a super memorable episode.
67. rise of the numbericons: the movie: i didn't hate it but compared to the rest of s7 it was pretty weak. i think mr goldenfold is funny, but not enough to get his own episode. it would've been more entertaining if rick was in it lets be real, i missed him.
66. interdimensional cable 2: tempting fate: i care very little about jerry's penis. the interdimensional cable was good as usual though.
65. how poopy got his poop back: fine episode, not my fav. i liked seeing bp and squanchy again.
64. edge of tomorty: rick die rickpeat: "Damn, Morty, you're bad at maths, but I'm giving you an a-plus in confidence!" an okay episode.
63. rick: a mort well lived: pretty weak episode to follow solaricks. summer's die hard was good. some cool emotional components.
62. rattlestar ricklactia: "Hey, Morty, listen. I can tell you're pretty upset about the whole snake encounter thing, so I'll tell you what. I'm just gonna go ahead and avoid you for the rest of the day." rnm were kind of cute at the end. yk, until rick punched morty in the face :/.
61. the jerrick trap: sorry ik a lot of ppl love this episode but tho burger & fries were cute characters its not all that for me. memory rick's return, however, was all that. i love him.
60. childrick of mort: "Oh my god, grandpa, you fuck boy." rick being a space nerd <3. loved to see more of beth and rick together but other than that this episode was kinda mid.
59. amortycan grickfitti: honestly made me feel bad for jerry which isnt easy, i sort of liked rick here, he seemed reluctant to let the hell demons make fun of jerry, he still did, but even apologised with only a little prompting. can't say the same for beth. summer and morty were sweet in this episode, i wish we would get more of them.
58. rickmancing the stone: "I don't know why I'm crying." "Well... try crying 15% less?" not bad, i liked the emotional components.
57. mortynight run: again, not super memorable to me. the roy montage was good. You kind of wasted your 30's, though, with that whole birdwatching phase." the animation for the song was great.
d tier: mostly okay to good episodes with minor faults that i can look past in the general scheme of the episode.
56. one crew over the crewcoo's morty: fucked up what rick did to morty. and to mr pb, his life went to shit after this, bcs of rick.
55. night family: had some great moments, but wasnt my fav.
54. anatomy park: loved dr bloom, john oliver voiced him perfectly.
53. lawnmower dog: sweet scenes between rnm. liked the dream inceptor, loved scary terry, snuffles was good too but not as much.
52. claw and hoarder: special ricktims morty: "Are you gonna slay it?" "First off, i always slay it, queen. Secondly, yes." summer being on morty's side was nice. while the soul orgy was a bit weird, the rest of this episode was pretty entertaining which is why its higher up, sorry.
51. bethic twinstinct: jerry saying he would khs, not cool jerry fuck you. "You ladies discuss responsibility while i get stoned and play video games with your kids." the end 💀 i felt bad but it was funny lol.
50. final desmitation: maybe my fav ep of jerry and rick's relationship. i liked seeing rick disapprove of them making fun of jerry, had some funny moments and i even liked jerry here.
49. a rick in king mortur's mort: not the best but i enjoyed rickbot being nice to morty. also this episode sets up for rmrm which i love.
48. promortyus: morty's little yee-haw 😭. and their conversation, so sweet. taking the adderall line as an adhd rick confirmation. "It is my thing. Just like yours is dying alone," get his ass. i feel like the romance couldve been a compelling story if the hosts werent rnm.
47. the whirly dirly conspiracy: rick's take on jerry was accurate. "But no, like father like goddamn daughter! You wanna be like Rick? Congratulations, you're just as arrogant and just as irresponsible!" morty ate. i prefered summer and beths storyline to rick and jerry's.
c tier: solid, episodes, some have a few faults but theyre small
46. mort: ragnarick: it's so high up because i found rick to be likeable and liked his dynamic with morty. ricks clone was cute too.
45. look who's purging now: "Screw you, Rick! I'll purge you too, you old rickety piece of crap!" rnm's storyline was great, i liked arthrisha.
44. the ricks must be crazy: "I dropped out of school. It's not a place for smart people." "Ohhhh, snap!" lmao literally my reaction. "Ooh. Wow. Gaaay!" "That is pretty gay." not much more to say, good ep.
43. never ricking morty: rnm were sweet in this ep. the gay ass song with rick and bp. "Rick are you– do you need to go to the hospital?" the forehead kiss was sweet. (we're ignoring "Lips if you want.")
42. mort dinner rick andre: mr nimbus is a great character. the wine storyline was a bit boring. "I havent been to a full week of school in years! I don't know shit!" love the peek at rick's backstory too.
41. rick potion #9: important lore episode. some funny bits. morty was a little creepy in this one. i love jerry primes character development. first look on down from the bridge moment !!
40. forgetting sarick mortshall: "What are you, eight? Is this macaroni art? You expect me to believe you built this because you don't care?" liked ricks storyline and he actually does seem to be showing minor development. the end song was good. liked garbage goober's lore.
39. morty's mindblowers: rick removing whatever memories he wanted was fucked up. rick saying granite instead of granted will always be funny. also him losing in chackers and skiing into a tree.
38. mortyplicity: entertaining enough if a little convoluted, i liked it though. sweet moment between the decoy family, shame they died.
b tier: good to great episodes.
37. big trouble in little sanchez: actually liked jerry and beths storyline in this one. tiny riiick !! "old rick! ruining everything!" good episode.
36. pilot: good intro, sets the tone. rick is such a dick (affectionate). rnm's dynamic !! the animation is great. overall great episode.
35. pickle rick: ik its a overrated but i think its good. hes pickle riiiick. dr wong's speech to rick was actually really good and accurate.
34. meeseeks and destroy: rick was such a whiny bitch this episode (affectionate), up until the mr jellybean stuff, which i liked bcs it was handled well by the writers and rick was actually very sweet.
33. rick and morty's thanksploitation spectacular: president curtis' alcoholic sci-fi boyfriend is probably my favourite way rick has been refered to in the show LOL. overall i enjoyed this episode.
32. something ricked this way comes: idc now but, the first time watching rick's r slur speech it was obnoxious and offputting. summer and rick were great, i adore their dynamic, love summer and rick episodes, but idrc for jerry's storyline, he bores me so bad.
31. full meta jackrick: "Rick can't change, Morty. Change is what you might call his Kryptonite." there were a lot of things i liked abt this ep.
30. vindicators 3: the return of worldender: very good episode. forever a believer that the ride was for morty and rick just chickened out.
29. a rickle in time: the va for the testicle monster was great. beth and jerry's storyline also wasn't bad. rick jumping into the hole and sacrificing his life for morty, im sobbing. great episode.
28. the vat of acid episode: morty trying to make rick feel better about not being able to make the thing was very sweet. morty's relationship with that girl was adorable, so sad it was erased by jerry's dumb ass /lh. fuck rick in this episode. the end was funny.
27. rixty minutes: while i do love interdimensional cable this episode would've been lower if it wasn't for all the character moments. "You can't leave, you're 17." "Yeah, and I'm not pregnant. I'm gonna have better judgement than you guys had at my age." loved summer getting screentime. beth and jerry's moment was quite sweet.
26. ricksy business: bp and squanchy !!! >:) bp coming through with the deep speech. the montage of rick morty and summer at the end is so adorable i love them sm <3. "I love my grandkids." "Aw :)." "Psych, just kidding, my new catchphrase is i dont give a fuuuck!"
25. get schwifty: first president curtis episode !! i love him. love morty and bp interactions haha. "In bird culture, this is considered a dick move." "It is random debris. I found it in my carpet. I don't know what humans eat." crying i love him sm. one of my personal favs lol :).
24. juricksick mort: tbh i mostly like this ep bcs of "You pompous autistic cadaver!" but there was other good moments and it was entertaining. rick was funny and likeable and very much a disaster of a human being, as i was promised when i started watching rnm.
23. star mort rickturn of the jerri: space beth !! "You cosplay as your shitty father in his 30's." "Its funny. I always wondered who would win if we ever fought." "Then you were always a bad friend." :(. "Holy shit, I'm a terrible father." i forgot how good this episode was, very angsty.
22. total rickall: genuinely love this episode. KEITH DAVID >:D. rick's "weird made-up sounding catchphrases" compilation is one of my fav moments in the show lol, everyone looks so concerned 💀.
21. rest and ricklaxation: "Grandpa's here." SOBBING. "Because you kept drunk-dialing me and crying about it!" "I wasn't crying!" loved jessica and ricks dynamic lol. great episode.
20. rickfending your mort: great follow up to unmortricken, i like that rick doesnt just go back to normal and we see it takes a while and even then its only bcs morty steps in. morty making up titles for all their adventures is adorable. great sweet scenes between rnm.
19. the rickchurian mortydate: autistic rick !! also minecraft. the president is such a pathetic loser lol <3. i loved rick and morty being on the same wavelength in this episode. the ending was good.
18. wet kuat amortycan summer: summer-centric episode !! rick was likeable, liked seeing him clumsy getting his grove back. him saying summer reminds him of diane again, he's getting so much more open, im so proud, can you imagine s3 rick being sincere like that?
17. close rickcounters of the rick kind: best s1 episode, love citadel episodes. evil morty !!!!! some funny moments. "You're crying? Over a Morty?" sobbing. "Yeah, but wheres the transmitter?" and the evil morty song oh god, best scene ever fr. i love my evil guy :3.
s tier: outstanding episodes, the 16 best imo.
16. that's amorte: FANTASTIC episode, the end montage is the only part of any rnm episode thats made me cry a little, it would be higher up but i have some personal favs which i put higher. i feel like this episode was very classic rnm after having them separated half of s7.
15. the old man and the seat: jerry and morty's dynamic is pretty funny. tony and rick's storyline was fantastic. some pretty angsty stuff. "The saaaddest piece of garbage in the entire cosmos."
14. the abc's of beth: rick and beth episode !! rick saying that an adventure clearly needs morty in it, aw. i did not care about jerry's storyline at all. beth had no right being so relatable in this ep.
13. ricktional mortpoon's rickmas mortcation: rick relapsing into finding prime !! "I'm not touching that thing. I'll get neurotypical cooties." ok, so ik a lot of ppl don't like the speech rick said to morty, but i do, he was going through a LOT, this clearly took him quite a few steps back in development and healing, i think it was less bad than a lot of other things he's done and way more justified.
12. fear no mort: loved morty getting his time to shine, LOVED diane and rick. morty realising rick wasn't in the hole has to be one of the best moments in the show. rick not going in the hole at the end bcs morty told him not to, hope some day he'll get to the point of doing things for morty in front of him so he can realise how much he cares.
11. analyze piss: look at rick asking dr wong for advice. him relating to piss master :(. also i read a phenomenal fic abt this ep (tw sh) (link).
10. air force wong: UNITY RETURNS! Rick was kinda childish in this episode but i feel like it was justified, he wasn't being a dick just bcs, he was hurting, and he even kinda apologised to summer, hes trying. rick going to drink with the president instead of being alone.
9. the rickshank rickdemption: RICK PRIME. "That, diane, is the last great idea that will ever be had in this garage." :((((. ricks backstory. "he's not a villan, summer, but he shouldn't be ur hero." fantastic ep.
8. rickmurai jack: love two crows rick. rick's full "crybaby" backstory !! "Now you're evil morty, too. sooner or later we all are. on this side of the curve." THE END OH GOD. THE MUSIC. EVIL MORTY LETTING OUT A SIGH OF RELIEF. INSANE finale.
7. gotron jerrysis rickvangelion: rick is so spectacularly autistic in this one. i like how he doesnt silly hyperfixtate, he full on unhealthy hyperfixtates. i practically know this ep off by heart. comfort ep fr.
6. rickternal friendshine of the spotless mort: im not sorry for putting this up so high, i love this ep so fucking much. memory rick is so silly i love him sm. "You were a good friend, Rick. Goodbye." the blood ridge confession makes me FERAL. i can quote it word for word.
5. the wedding squanchers: THIS EPISODE. rick watching bp die in front of him. rick turning himself in :(. "everyone i know goes away in the end." the music was so good. "he's not coming back, is he?"
4. the ricklantis mixup: best citadel ep, fight me. j-22 trying to save simple rick only to suffer the same fate :(. slick jumping into the wishing portal. the ending was phenomenal, every single storyline was amazing and important. and evil morty returns.
3. auto erotic assimilation: love unity and ricks dynamic. blim blam humbling beth and jerry. jerry using the weed whacker right in front of the garage where rick just attempted. and no one notices. bc that's how it is. "do you feel it?" is a great song. maybe this ep is higher than it should be but it's my comfort ep, it means so much to me.
2. solaricks: first time we get to see dimension c-137 out of a flashback !! "I hope Summer knows what happens to the people you love!" "Oh, am I cool enough for you now? Well, that was easy. It only cost me fucking everything." "I don't know him. You're my grandpa, rick." rip jerry prime, my fav jerry. THIS EPISODE IS PHENOMENAL.
1. unmortricken: ok anyone who knows me knows this is my fav ep bcs i never stfu abt it. i mean, evil morty backstory, rick beating prime to death, GOD. ian cardoni was COOKING with the delivery of those lines, and the lines were fantastic. some good rnm moments. the angst is so good. "How's it feel? Better? No? Exactly the same? Yeah, it always does." best look on down from the bridge moment.
i keep going over this a million times just to make sure everything is perfect but idk, some episodes are maybe interchangeable, im just going to post it bcs its been rotting in my drafts for quite a while now, everyone promise you dont hate me for putting an episode 1 slot too high or low /j
and sorry for all the jerry hate in this post, i dont hate him i just find him boring, so eps where he's the centre tend to be lower on the list.

Most Sonic Game Plots are Good:
The best writer of the games is SA1’s writer Akinori Nishiyama. The worst writer who always has actual control over the plots as a whole is Yasushi Otake.
39 are at least okay-written plots, outta 64 actual stories. 64/39=1.64, meaning usually the plots are fine, I like most of the series content-wise.
Sonic Game Plots:
1: Sonic 1 (Genesis): Okay plot. Any plot with this foundation is great in a vacuum because of how creative the concept of animal-powered robots is. I'll rate these stories as if they exist in a vacuum, otherwise a lot of them would be called bad for being too much like this and that'd be kind of unfair.
2: Sonic 1 (Master System/Game Gear): Okay plot.
3: Sonic 2 (Master System/Game Gear): Okay plot. Better because at least it does something new by having Tails get kidnapped.
4: Sonic 2 (Genesis): Okay plot.
5: SegaSonic the Hedgehog: Okay plot, better than most 2D Sonics.
6: Sonic CD: Okay plot.
7: Sonic Chaos: Great plot.
8: Sonic Spinball (Genesis): Okay plot.
9: Dr. Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine: Okay plot.
10: Sonic 3 & Knuckles: Okay plot.
11: Sonic Drift: Bad. Why was Eggman driving a car in the first place, which caused everyone else to race?
12: Sonic Gameworld: Okay plot.
13: Sonic Spinball (Game Gear): Okay plot.
14: Sonic Triple Trouble: Okay plot.
15: Sonic Drift 2: Bad.
16: Knuckles Chaotix: Okay plot.
17: Tails Adventure: Okay plot.
18: Sonic Labyrinth: Okay.
19: Dr. Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine (Game Gear): Okay plot.
20: Sonic the Fighters: Bad. They’re friends, why would they fight each other and risk killing each other?
21: Sonic 3D Blast: Okay plot.
22: Sonic Blast: Okay plot.
23: Sonic R: Great plot.
24: Sonic Adventure 1: Great plot.
25: Sonic Pocket Adventure: Okay plot.
26: Sonic Shuffle: Boring.
27: Sonic Adventure 2: Okay plot. Only thing that keeps me from rating it a fantastic is that it's not always explained well enough, mainly, why was Gerald able to enact his plan?
28: Sonic Advance: Okay plot.
29: Sonic Advance 2: Okay plot.
30: Sonic Pinball Party: Okay plot.
31: Sonic Battle: Bad. Friends are fighting, exaggerated characterizations for most, good otherwise.
32: Sonic Heroes: Okay plot.
33: Sonic Advance 3: Okay plot.
34: Sonic Rush: Okay plot barely.
35: Shadow the Hedgehog: Bad because the world is invaded, which is hard on most of its denizens.
36: Sonic Riders: Great.
37: Sonic 06: Bad, Silver’s future is ruined and the scepter’s not buried after the time travel.
38: Sonic Rivals: Bad.
39: Sonic and the Secret Rings: Bad. Derivative, shock value dark moments every time, Shahra’s a nag.
40: Sonic Rivals 2: Bad.
41: Sonic Rush Adventure: Bad from Marine.
42: Sonic Chronicles: Bad, contrived with good concepts. The bad ending was forced from an Idiot Ball.
43: Sonic Riders Zero Gravity: Bad. Too much exposition we don’t care about. Another MacGuffin plot.
44: Sonic Unleashed Wii: Bad. Chip is out of place, the premise is too dark and confusing. Boring.
45: Sonic Unleashed: Bad.
46: Sonic and the Black Knight: Good mostly.
47: Sonic 4 Episode 1: Good.
48: Sonic Free Riders: Bad.
49: Sonic Colors: Bad. It’s mostly talking and if you don’t think it’s funny it’s boring, but cool premise.
50: Sonic Colors DS: Good.
51: Sonic Generations: Bad.
52: Sonic Generations 3DS: Bad.
53: Mario and Sonic London 3DS: Bad plot. The most boring plot ever. Not enough character/interaction.
54: Sonic 4 Episode 2: Good.
55: Sonic Lost World: Bad.
56: Sonic Lost World 3DS: Bad.
57: Sonic Boom Rise of Lyric: Kinda bad from main cast’s apathy/Knux, actually mediocre. Lyric’s cool.
58: Sonic Boom Shattered Crystal: Bad.
59: Sonic Boom Fire and Ice: Bad barely. Sticks’ OOC, bad jokes, boring progression, too much talking.
60: Sonic Mania: Okay.
61: Sonic Forces. Bad. Why does Eggman have the Phantom Ruby that caused the dark plot? The premise is also not taken advantage of to make up for its darkness, Eggman didn’t need to take over the world.
62: Team Sonic Racing. Bad.
63: Frontiers. Bad. Repetitive, it’s Generations but pointlessly bleak & more dragged out, it's all talking.
64: Sonic Superstars: Good.
Gameplay-wise, I played and liked only 28 of them, 29 at best if I include Unleashed Wii, even less if I exclude the 20 2D Sonic style games for having a zoomed in camera. Another thing for Frontiers, if you accept the idea that Eggman could think of a creation of his as his daughter and be fond of her for that, then by that logic you should also be just as accepting of the idea that Starline grew to see Surge and Kit as his children and were fond of them for that, it’s the same thing. And he spent even more time with them.
Sonic 1’s plot is great by Sonic game standards because of how many flaws it lacks. Every new repeat of this basic plot, like 2 and 3, isn’t creative anymore, so it’s boring and lazy, but in a vacuum, the plot of Eggman captured animals in robots and the heroes have to fight his Eggmobile a lot is unique and keeps it simple. 1 8 bit’s plot, is good, but any game with Sonic 1’s plot is only impressive in its lack of flaws and the uniqueness of badniks outside of Sonic, because it was already done. Sonic 2 8-bit’s plot is great because this was the first time Tails got kidnapped in the franchise let alone for a whole game.
SegaSonic the Hedgehog’s plot is great because its premise is unique and you can just assume Mighty and Ray got captured with Sonic accidentally while hanging out with him. Spinball great. Spinball 8-bit same intense plot as it. Sonic 3 great for introducing the Master Emerald. Tails and the Music Maker bad. Gameworld alright barely, new at least. Fighters’ plot is bad because the reasoning for why the heroes fight each other is stupid making them look like they’re idiots and don’t care about each other. Battle’s plot is bad as a whole for the same reason, and it exaggerates most of its characters, but is great if you ignore that.
The worst writer who always has control over the plots as a whole is Yasushi Otake, who came up with the stories of Sonic Free Riders, Colors and the London 3DS story campaign. It’s too hard to figure out who wrote the stories of the 2D games because their credits and wikis don’t mention a writer. So sometimes I have to assume the game director wrote it, because directors can determine the premise of a game. I can’t find out who wrote the manuals. Game planners didn’t plan the stories, I looked up game planners and it didn’t mention story or plot.
Amounts of stories written by the writers who wrote more than once:
Ken Pontac and Warren Graff: 7; Colors, Generations, Lost World, Shattered Crystal, Fire and Ice, Forces, Team Sonic Racing. Other people wrote the actual plots except LW. Akinori Nishiyama: 6; Sonic Adventure 1, Advance, Advance 2, Pinball Party, Advance 3, Rush. Katsuhiro Hasegawa: 5; Sonic Drift, Sonic Triple Trouble, Sonic Drift 2, Tails Adventure, Dr. Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine Game Gear. Shirō Maekawa: 5; Sonic Adventure 2, Heroes, 06, Riders Zero Gravity, Sonic and the Black Knight. Yasushi Otake: 4; Free Riders, Colors, Colors DS, Mario and Sonic London 3DS. Naoto Ohshima: 3; Sonic 1 both versions, CD. Takashi Iizuka: 3; Shadow the Hedgehog, Rivals 2, Superstars. Alan Denton: 2; Rise of Lyric and Fire and Ice. Bill Freiberger: 2; Rise of Lyric and Fire and Ice. Greg Hahn: 2; Rise of Lyric and Fire and Ice. Hiroshi Miyamoto: 2; Riders, Riders Zero Gravity. Kazuyuki Hoshino: 2; Mania, CD. Masanobu Tsukamoto: 2; Dr. Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine 16 and 8-bit. Tin Guerrero: 2; Shattered Crystal & Fire and Ice.

REVIEWING THE CHARTS: 09/11/2024 (The Weeknd & Anitta, Tyler the Creator)
Gracie Abrams snabs her first UK #1 this week with “That’s So True”, which just two weeks ago debuted at #19 and is now, thanks to special discounted sales, topping the chart, usurping Gigi Perez’s “Sailor Song” after just one week. As for what’s below, we have a cooler week so welcome back to REVIEWING THE CHARTS!

Rundown
As always, we start the episode with our notable dropouts, those being songs exiting the UK Top 75, which is what I cover, after five weeks in the region or a peak in the top 40. This week, we bid adieu to not only all of the Halloween tracks, which aren’t really worth listing – you know them all by now and they’ll be back last week next year – but also a set of duos: Liam Payne’s solo cuts, “For You” (Fifty Shades Freed) with Rita Ora and “Strip that Down” featuring Quavo, two tracks falling victim to arbitrary UK chart rules: “Noid” by Tyler, the Creator and “Pink Pony Club” by Chappell Roan, more on those later, and Coldplay having both “WE PRAY” with Little Simz, Burna Boy, Elyanna and TINI and “feelslikeimfallinginlove” drop off this week. Other than that, we say our farewells to “Mantra” by JENNIE and “You & Me” by Disclosure featuring Eliza Doolittle: a lot of good songs making their exits this week, sadly.
Now, what’s making up for all that? We have a few gains and four strong new entries to pick through later in the episode. As for our returns… well, it’s a slow week in November, meaning we begin our annual thawing of Christmas music, starting with “Last Christmas” by Wham! at #61 and “All I Want for Christmas is You” by Mariah Carey at #58. From this point on, these episodes may be shorter and forcedly more festive. We also see a spike in older tracks returning once again, amidst some newer tracks, with the list as follows: “Dreams” by Fleetwood Mac at #75, “Belong Together” by Mark Ambor at #72, “Yellow” by Coldplay at #71, “Scared to Start” by Michael Marcagi at #70, “Iris” by the Goo Goo Dolls at #68, “Mr. Brightside” by The Killers at #67, “NEW DROP” by Don Toliver at #64 and perhaps most notably, “labour” by indie-folk one-hit-wonder Paris Paloma at #62. It peaked at #29 in 2023 the same week Ed Sheeran’s “Eyes Closed” debuted at #1, and due in part to its feminist themes, as well as fitting a wave of more emotionally open folk-pop from women on the charts, it has had a resurgence that I can’t really complain about – I didn’t remember the song but on relisten, I still like it, perhaps more than I did back then. Turns out in my old review for it that I almost predicted a similar trend to what is actually happening on the charts right now with a larger focus on organic, 2010s-resembling indie and folk-pop having a larger moment. Maybe I don’t always bullshit my way through these episodes – and, hey, she still has the time to launch a second track on the charts, it’s an opportune time for her.
There are some noteworthy gains here too, many of which have also been here a while, such as “Riptide” by Vance Joy at #65, unfortunately, “Slow it Down” by Benson Boone at #60, “The Days” by Chrystal at #55, “The Sound of Silence” by Disturbed at #54, “What Makes You Beautiful” by One Direction at #53, “I Only Smoke When I Drink” by nimino at #52, “TOO COOL TO BE CARELESS” by PAWSA at #51, “Burning Down” by Alex Warren at #50, “Heavy is the Crown” by Linkin Park at #49, “Don’t Dream it’s Over” by Crowded House at #48, “I Had Some Help” by Post Malone and Morgan Wallen at #46, “Austin (Boots Stop Workin’)” by Dasha at 42, “Close to You” by Gracie Abrams at #41 (she’s really having a moment right now and it’s beyond me as to why), then “Stargazing” by Myles Smith at #29, “The Emptinesss Machine” by Linkin Park at #28, “Lose Control” by Teddy Swims at #26, “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” by Shaboozey at #25 – I will say that sometimes it’s disheartening to see so many long-term hits rebound just as there should be a winter shake-up. Not that the newer tracks are any fit to replace them, with “Timeless” by The Weeknd and Playboi Carti at #21, sigh, but also “Bad Dreams” by Teddy Swims at #15 as he grabs a second top 10 with “The Door” at #8, a song that has grown on me a lot since my review, and finally, just on the cusp of that region is Billie Eilish’s fantastic “WILDFLOWER” at #11, which I think will be able to make it there in the next few weeks.
In terms of our top five, we already know about Gracie and Gigi’s folk-pop songs switching places at #1, but we also see Chappell Roan hit a new peak with “HOT TO GO!” at #5 and there’s a woman playing at least co-lead on every track here, as Abrams’ “I Love You, I’m Sorry” sticks to #4 and “APT.” by ROSÉ and Bruno Mars is down to #3. I’m not sure if that’s a significant stat considering the political climate, but it’s something. You know what’s not… women?
New Entries
#69 – “One by One” – Central Cee
Produced by Cash Cobain
Okay, let’s get the needed waffle out of the way: this was initially promoted with the live performance on A COLORS SHOW, which genuinely has so little distinctly different from the official version that it may have just assumed that role instead. This beat samples Bryson Tiller’s 2015 track “For However Long”, which itself cribs from Jodeci’s “Alone” from back in 1993. Neither were released as singles, and both in eras where that actually mattered, so they never charted. What I most want to acknowledge in this is the top one slizzer, the Slizzy God, Cash Cobain, finally making his official dent on the top 75 after having influenced Jordan Adetunji’s “KEHLANI” earlier this year. As briefly discussed in the review for that, sexy drill, slizzy drill, whatever you wish to deem it, is a niche subgenre pioneered by Cash and surrounding artists like Chow Lee, PoWR Trav, wolfacejoeyy, etc. out of New York and taking a more melodic, R&B-sampling approach to that city’s burgeoning drill music. The lyrics are sexual, the vocals are dripping wet with meek Auto-Tune, and the beats have a certain constant underlying tension to them due to the drum patterns and mostly shoddy mixing. This year has been big for the genre thanks mostly to “KEHLANI” and, ahem, “Grippy”, and I’ve become somewhat of a scholar just because it’s a fun scene with often recognisable samples and funny lines or deliveries that creep up on you on multiple listens because they’re not immediately obvious or practically mumbled. I for one have been hypnotised by Cash Cobain’s debut solo album, PLAY CASH COBAIN, practically since release.
One thing Cench definitely isn’t is subtle or saying anything you won’t notice on first listen, given his crass delivery, but that perfectly fits with the shoddy bass master and chipmunk sample, and he leaves a similar amount of empty space, given the lack of ad-libs originating from the fact it was originally published as a live performance, so it functions perfectly fine as a sexy drill song, and is actually enhanced and made unique by Cench’s presence, as his lyrics actually have genuine attempts at multisyllabic rhymes and clever wordplay, unlike most slizzy drillers who rely on comically autopilot sex raps, not that this is a bad thing, but Cench is also just really funny here! He threatens those who are tweeting at him to log out of their account whilst also saying that he bought the PS4 and scented candles to his trap to help make it “homely” which is hilarious… though I guess Cench can’t even get a PS5. He seems to be slightly disdained, but not particularly, about not being able to watch Disney Channel but SPECIFICALLY The Suite Life of Zack & Cody – I question if that’s much of a loss – and that is all in the chorus. It does help that Cench’s flow, whilst mostly the same throughout, brings a typically British mouthful to a genre that is otherwise “less is more”, whilst still shouting out New York, as well as comparing himself to Jason Derulo and… Tyga, saying he had “young money”… I’m not sure if even he is aware of the other meaning there because I’m not sure he would have kept the lyric in otherwise. My favourite part of the whole song, which feels not like a mockery of the genre but him being very ridiculous over it, is when he starts the second verse by just listing the weapons he would own not only if he didn’t live in the UK, but in different time periods, because if he lived in the Stone Age, he would have had a spear. Great. Thanks, Cench. This is the kind of humour and unique production I found appealing before he started to succumb to the pressure of trends and virality, and I’m glad to see it back even if briefly. Let’s hope he locks in on the album.
#47 – “Casual” – Chappell Roan
Produced by Dan Nigro and Ryan Linvill
I’ve long been frustrated with not really connecting to Chappell Roan’s singles from The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess that have charted, often for small nitpicks of reasons that have to do with the production or structure not functioning as well as they could to uphold the strong writing and a narrative connection I often resonated with or appreciated to some degree. I’m glad that this one has actually been the one to click really well. That could be found in the lighthearted conceit of it all that speaks to deeper issues: the comical framing of her hanging with a potential romantic partner in a more platonic way and asking at what point during their sexual and more wholesome intimacy is it still a casual and not long-term relationship? That all gathers, through a droopy 80s synth and gated drums, a wave of distrust and disappointment about her girlfriend’s lack of commitment, and as the descriptions of sex get more intense and vivid, as well as the mental health sacrifices Chappell’s making for her girlfriend’s family get revealed, the longing turns into a hateful frustration, a bitterness that arises in large part to the expectations Chappell has coming into a relationship that she acknowledges aren’t only unfounded but perhaps unrealistic, shaming herself for them in the second verse for giving into “dumb love”. It has a more reasonable and less unlikeable bitterness than “Good Luck, Babe!”, no production issues that deweight its impact like “Red Wine Supernova” and the writing actually progresses quite sensationally towards the outro, unlike the somewhat muddled “Pink Pony Club”, so I think aside from the dumb fun of “HOT TO GO!”, this is the first of hers to really stick with me, and definitely elevates above that song, even if the core conceit isn’t too dissimilar. If I had one issue, it’s that I get too connected with the narrative that the effective, disappointed self-blame hits too close and makes me want to hear much more about how this relationship actually ends. If that’s not effective songwriting, I don’t know what it is.
#33 – “Like Him” – Tyler, the Creator featuring Lola Young
Produced by Tyler, the Creator
Out of all songs from CHROMAKOPIA to swap out “Noid” with, I did not expect the late-album ballad, if anything I assumed we’d see one of the bangers, like “Rah Tah Tah” or especially “Sticky” with Sexyy Red, GloRilla and Lil Wayne. I’m not complaining though, because this is one of the best songs of the year, it’s heartbreaking and I cannot do it justice. It’s not all doom and gloom, of course, as Tyler inserts some comedy in it as always, whether it be the “huh?” he slides in from what sounds like a shoddily-EQ’d Baby Keem sample but I stand corrected if he actually went in the studio to record a few sounds, or the intro, wherein Tyler’s mother Bonita compares Tyler to his father, setting up the “Like Him” theme but also listing every point of comparison on his body before she gets cut off. That kind of bittersweet, slight ironic humour comes with the familial territory the song otherwise works in, with the track acting as a bit of a plea to Bonita: if he’s so like him, why doesn’t he know who he is, or where he is? Where is Tyler’s father in his life? It’s a question that T has been struggling with for much of his career with constant references and some full songs directed to his absence like “Answer”, which is particularly potent in retrospect considering this song is full of questions.
Starting with sombre pianos and a frail high-register performance from Tyler, who sings for all of the track, it eventually develops into a progressive soul track backed by harmonies from British singer Lola Young and a gorgeous soaring guitar in the back and the detailed soundscape you should expect from one of Tyler’s slow jams, that fuzzy synth coating in particular contrasting with the breathless gasps that appear all across the album. You also have the chorus accentuated with what sounds like Bonita herself chiming in with “Like what?”, acknowledging the role she played with the absence of Tyler’s father, which is expanded upon firstly in the second verse, wherein Tyler croons directly to her, with a great pause before he delves into how everything worked out and there may even be a sense of guilt there that Tyler is still on the hopeless chase for something he never had and won’t ever need – hence all the empty gaps left in the production. It resonates particularly hard for me, not that I’m in this specific situation, but as someone without a father figure in adulthood, I can relate to the idea of having something inexplicably missing there that you just kind of have to fill in for yourself. The most potent point is that incredible bridge, wherein Tyler stops the question at simply, “Do I look?”, asking his mother whether it’s worthwhile searching for either his father or that part of him that’s missing due to his absence, before a glance of piano and a vacant hole failingly filled in by Baby Keem pre-empting a wraparound of synths climaxing the song with utter defiance. In his third, improvised-sounding verse, spent mostly in the mix as backing vocals, he half-raps about his devotion to his mother but simultaneously, the insistence that he doesn’t “look like him”, because he’s everything HE wanted himself to be, and even with how abrupt Lola Young’s belting ends, you still get the time to chew on that dynamic… before that crushing outro, a home recording of his mother apologising for her involvement in keeping Tyler’s father out of his life, a plea from her for forgiveness over an off-tune bass note and cascading keys that really tugs at the heartstrings as someone who’s followed Tyler’s career and knows just how common and meaningful this topic is to him. Hell, it even wraps up the closure Tyler desperately seeks on the album, and leads into another banger in “Balloon” that, in many ways, is a middle finger to what a father figure could have brought into his life, that being restriction, tradition and hypermasculinity. Once again, it’s a brilliant song from a brilliant album, I wouldn’t be surprised if we get yet another switcheroo but I’d be delighted to have this one stick around. It is a wonder of a song.
#22 – “São Paulo” – The Weeknd and Anitta
Produced by The Weeknd, MIKE DEAN and Sean Solymar
Named after the Brazilian city that he premiered the track in, this new single with co-star Anitta, a massive singer in her own right in Latin America, is in some ways an embracing of Brazilian funk, which has been having a viral surge creeping up in the western world and having major influence on western artists now after years of it soundtracking the country’s cities. This song in particular is probably the widest western audience funk mandelão will ever get, and it’s not compromising either! It’s not as minimal as what you may hear from the genre, but it’s got the raw aggression of the rough cheap synths and the bass-heavy rumble manned by an oddly-mixed Anitta who, despite the genre being so in your face, feels about as far away from the party as possible even when you translate her stuttering, Auto-Tuned chanting to English and realise just how filthy it is. In fact, that’s my main problem with the song: as much as it embraces the genre, it seems way too distant as an overall piece from the actual fun, and sexiness, that this genre could be used for, with Abel on a murmuring autopilot once again – he sounds so sick of even opening his mouth this whole album cycle so far – and drenched in a reverb that echoes him out of the immediacy this production needs, with his sexual lyrics not prompting anything all too interesting either.
I like the chaotic sample brought in to an almost off-beat bridge but that all leads to what should be a promising second half… and ends up just trailing off. The Weeknd somehow ends up both robotic and out-of-breath – I’m not accusing it of being AI because it absolutely sounds human, but that’s also how I would describe what happens when you filter high-pitch vocals through AI and it gets all glitched out, losing breath, life and also clarity like Abel does here. I do enjoy the sly reference of the prostitute being “desensitised with money” and him needing to pay for his pleasure with work of his own, but outside of a burst into a drop that fails to really make much impact thanks to MIKE DEAN’s wankery souring the party, I’m unsure to what point any of the song’s second half serves that the first didn’t. It’s not the worst of his singles from this album so far, but it’s the one that tests your patience the most and honestly shows the most frustrating potential. Sadly, trying isn’t exactly on the agenda for the team behind this final album, and I hope the album gives me at least something to latch onto, unless, and I fear I might be correct, this is part of a narrative that involves losing interest in the “Weeknd” persona and shedding that baggage away. I suppose we’ll just have to see.
Conclusion
I suppose it has to get Worst of the Week, given that it’s the only dent on an otherwise above-average set of tracks this week, though Tyler, the Creator still blasts them all out of the water so he grabs Best of the Week easily with “Like Him” featuring Lola Young. As for the Honourable Mention, choose your gender, and as for what’s on the horizon… I don’t know, JLS? Who cares? Thank you for reading, rest in peace to Nipsey Hussle, and I’ll see you next week!

Dragon Ball GT 59
Tumblr media
✨GT Stands For Gorillafication Tank✨
Tumblr media
This is the one where Vegeta becomes a Super Saiyan 4. It sucks.  Here are three reasons why I hate this episode.
✨"Good" "Ideas", Poorly Executed✨
1) The series is nearly over by the time he finally gets to transform.  Funimation heavily promoted this series in 2004-05 with the Super Saiyan 4 stuff.  Since there’s only two characters who can use Super Saiyan 4, naturally they put a lot of SSJ4 Vegeta images out there.  He’s a popular character, and SSJ4 was the big draw for this series, so why not make use of that?  But then you watch the show, and it takes until Episode 59 to actually get to this point.  There’s only six episodes left!
2) Toei teased this idea throughout half the series, then refused to deliver.  Vegeta didn’t have a tail, but neither did Goku, and he got a new one.  Baby was able to turn into a Golden Ape with some help from Bulma, so it only followed that Vegeta could, and would do it too.  And they even teased this in Episode 55.  But they just kept making us wait and making us wait, and then we finally get to this episode where he finally does it, and then he immediately says “We can’t win like this.  Let’s do fusion.”
Tumblr media
Which, fine, I’m totally on board for SSJ4 Gogeta.  But they could have at least let SSJ4 Vegeta show off for a while before escalating things further.  Instead it’s like they held off until the last possible moment to give us this transformation, for the sole purpose of giving Goku a fusion partner.  And sure, we’ll see Vegeta do SSJ4 stuff in Episodes 61 and 62, but by that point he just gets the shit beaten out of him.
This is like when Vegeta showed up during the Androids Saga and revealed he could turn Super Saiyan.  But instead of crushing Android 19, scaring the shit out of Gero, and blowing up his mountain lab, they just decided to go straight from him transforming to the part where Perfect Cell starts beating him up.
3) The transformation itself takes forever and it’s boring as shit.  So first Vegeta shows up and tells Goku what he’s going to do.  Then Bulma drives up in a big tank with Blutz Wave generators on it.  Then she zaps Vegeta with it, and he starts turning into an Oozaru.  While this is going on, Gohan argues with Bulma over this.  “It’s too dangerous!” he says.  “He’ll run wild and destroy the earth!”  And Bulma’s like “We have no choice!  I’ll take my chances on Vegeta.”
Tumblr media
And then Oozaru Vegeta starts shooting mouth blasts in every direction, and he grabs Goku like he’s gonna crush him. Then he reveals that he’s in control of himself, much to everyone’s relief.  Well of course he can control himself in this form, we saw him do that in DBZ. Was he faking madness just now or did it take him a minute to restrain himself?
Then he turns into a Golden Ape and then he finally, finally shrinks down to Super Saiyan 4 form, and that’s when he suggests doing Fusion.
And the entire time this is going on, Omega Shenron is just sort of floating around, waiting to see how this plays out.
This would be like if Vegeta showed up in the Androids Saga, announced he could now turn Super Saiyan, and then he told everyone to wait patiently while he performed a one-man stage show where he portrays Mark Twain.  And 19 and Gero just stand there, utterly mesmerized by this, while Goku lies there dying.
So yes, the execution of this was extremely poor.  It’s also not much of an idea, since “Vegeta does a transformation just like one Goku already has” is nothing new.  Neither is the Blutz Wave amplifier, since Bulma had already developed the technology during the Baby Saga.  And it wasn’t original even then, because Vegeta already has a means to produce artificial Blutz Waves.  Maybe you’ve heard of it:
Tumblr media
You might argue that Vegeta’s power ball isn’t strong enough to compensate for the lack of a tail, but I would counter by saying Vegeta is much, much stronger in GT than he ever was in the Saiyans Saga.  I think a Super Saiyan 2 could produce a power ball big enough to get the job done, and it certainly would have been cooler than waiting for Bulma to pull up in a goofy tank.
Or, if you want Bulma to still have the credit for helping him do all of this, that’s fine.  Here’s another option: Have Bulma zap him at home.  Then he could just fly to the battlefield, already transformed.
All right, I’ve been crapping all over this episode and I haven’t even covered the first half of it.   Let me back up to the beginning.
Tumblr media
So in Episode 58, Syn Shenron seemed to be beaten, but then he no-sold it and ate the other six Dragon Balls, which powered him up.  The dub calls this “Omega Shenron”, and while I appreciate the distinction, it’s important to note that the original version of GT never bothered to name this guy Syn or Omega or anything.  Goku still calls him “One Star Dragon”.
So now Omega is just as invincible as before, but he also has all the powers of the other six Shadow Dragons.   He can get really hot like Nuova...
Tumblr media
He can freeze you like Eis...
Tumblr media
He can spam Dragon Thunder like Rage, and he can do Whirlwind Spin and that thing Naturon can do where he makes energy blasts come up out of the ground.  Omega also has Haze Shenron’s power to absolutely suck.  For example, Rage had Goku completely beaten, and would have won except for the unexpected rainfall.  Well, it’s not raining now, so why isn’t Omega just doing everything Rage did?  That’s the Haze Shenron power.
Tumblr media
Goku is also still blind from that sneak attack Eis used on Goku back in Episode 57.  Not that it seems to matter, because Goku killed Eis and he had managed pretty well against Syn before he gobbled up the other Dragon Balls.  Also, the other Shadow Dragons’ techniques don’t seem to bother Goku this time, because he claims that once he experiences an attack, it’s ineffective on him the next time.
So he’s been saying this a lot in the last few episodes, and I really want to know what the hell that’s supposed to mean.  I’m pretty sure it’s just referring to how quickly Goku can analyze and adapt to unfamiliar offense during a fight.  Like when Jackie Chun used the Drunken Fist on him, and Goku developed a counter on the spot.  Or like when Tien sprouted extra arms and Goku started moving his really fast to imitate him.
But in late-GT, Toei seems to have interpreted this talent too literally, so now we have Goku acting like he’s the Borg or something.  You shoot him with a phaser, and it might hurt him once, but the next time you shoot him he’ll have a silly-looking forcefield to block it.
And maybe that’s actually something new that Super Saiyan 4 lets him do.  I could buy into that.  It’s a little OP, but you know, that’s kind of the whole point of Super Saiyan 4.  This was Goku’s ultimate final form for 15 years.  Let him have some bullshit plot armor.  He’s entitled to it.  My only beef is that they never spell it out that this is an SSJ4 ability.
Tumblr media
Also, if Goku truly is immune to techniques he’s experienced before, then why does he keep getting hurt every time Omega uses his “Punch the Shit Out of Goku Technique”?  Because he keeps spamming that attack, and it seems to work really well.
Tumblr media
So Goku’s having a hard time against Omega, until he notices that his eyesight has returned!  So he uses this lucky break to trick Omega, scoring a direct hit with a Kamehameha, and then following through with a Super Dragon Fist. Okay, two questions:
1) How?  Eis slashed at Goku’s eyes just two episodes ago.  It was never clear how badly damaged Goku’s eyes were.  He looked just fine, but at the same time, Nuova gave him medicine to help him heal.  The implication was that Goku would need a while to recover.  It hasn’t even been an hour since Eis attacked him.  Does Super Saiyan 4 have healing power too?  Again, that would be pretty awesome, I just wish the show would tell us these things.
2) Why does this help Goku get the drop on Omega?  He had already scored direct hits on him before, when he was blind.  I’m talking about Episodes 57 and 58.  You know, the ones that aired right before this one?  Granted, Omega was still Syn during those moments, but the point is that Goku was just as badly outclassed then as he is now, and he still managed to fire a Kamehameha without his eyesight.  The problem was never his aim, it was that he couldn’t hurt the big guy.
But now that he has his eyesight back, it suddenly turns the tide?  This goes back to what I said about this before.  Toei thought it would be cool to give Goku a temporary injury to stack the deck against him, so that it would be really heroic when he overcame the odds.  But they didn’t plan it out well at all.  It would have been more effective if Goku’s right arm were all cramped up or something.  That’s his Dragon Fist arm, for one thing.  He could probably do one-handed Kamehameha’s, and he could still fight more effectively than the other characters, but he’d definitely be less than 100%.  So then he could finally get his arm working again at about this point in the fight, and boom!  He surprises Omega with a two-handed Kamehameha, and hits the Dragon Fist, which Omega never would have expected because he thought the right arm was out of commission.
✨Positivity Page✨
Tumblr media
One thing I like about this episode, maybe the only thing, is how Omega sells the Dragon Fist.  He’s got a big hole in his body, a la King Piccolo, but he also sparks with lightning, like when a big robot is about to explode.  It’s a neat effect, and it helps sell the idea that the Shadow Dragons are different from the usual enemies we see in the series.
Tumblr media
Not that this kills Omega, though, because while everyone is celebrating, Pan notices Rage Shenron’s electric slime, which comes together to reassemble into Omega’s body.  So even if you blow Omega up, he can just put himself back together.
Tumblr media
Then Omega just beats up everybody for some reason.  This includes Mr. Satan, which is ridiculous since Omega has no reason to hold back, and there’s no way Mr. Satan can survive a blow from a guy who can beat up SSJ4 Goku.  GT Logic, from the horse’s anus to your dinner table.
Tumblr media
But luckily, Goku manages to get the drop of Omega, and he prepares a self-destruct attack, like the one Vegeta used on Majin Buu.  That’s ridiculous, since it didn’t even work when Vegeta tried it.  Also, Goku pulled a stunt like this before when he fought Super 17, and it didn’t work then either.
And this is when Vegeta steps in.  He tells Goku to call off his attack, and then informs him of his plan to support Goku as a Super Saiyan 4.  And I already covered that part, so no need to go over it again.
Tumblr media
No, wait, I think I will go over it again, because that’s what Dragon Ball GT does all the damn time.  Remember how I talked about Vegeta finally becoming a Super Saiyan 4?  I said that I had looked forward to it the first time I watched GT, but it took them until the end of the series to get to it, and then when he finally achieved the form, he immediately admitted that it wouldn’t help, and that he and Goku should go straight to Fusion instead?
Then I said it would be like when Vegeta saved Goku from Android 19, except instead of just turning Super Saiyan, he would perform a one-man show where he plays Mark Twain, and the bad guys would stand there and stare at him.  Remember that?  Do you?  Is this good content?  Me just repeating the same information over and over?  Beleaguering every single thought until it loses all meaning?   No?  Well, now you know what it’s like to watch GT.
✨Is This Episode Worse than "The Roaming Lake"?✨
Those of you who know me, know that I am a sucker for golden apes.
Tumblr media
But this ain’t it, Chief.  SSJ4 Vegeta is too little, too late.  He’s pretty cool in the video games, using Final Shine and all.  But in this show, Final Shine was a dud on the first (and last) attempt, and so is his SSJ4 transformation.  The Roaming Lake triumps yet again, 60-0.
✨The Blade Braxton Memorial Haiku*✨

What Run BTS episodes would you recommend to a new Taekooker? Please make your list as long as possible 😁🙏
Hi, first of all, I'm so sorry for the late response! 😣
I'll do my best, anon, but there's a lot of episodes, and I can't remember all of them 😩 I've actually been comfort watching Run bts while I've been sick and I would definitely recommend watching all of the episodes from the very beginning because the show is hilarious and so entertaining and it's a great introduction to the members personalities and their dynamics with each other. Run bts seriously has some of my favourite bts moments of all time! It might be my favourite content out of everything 😁
Episode 13/14 - maknae line are in a team together so there's plenty of taekook.
Tumblr media
Episode 36 - Not a whole lot of taekook, but there's two really cute moments where Jungkook feeds Tae.
Tumblr media
Episode 40 - There are quite a lot of taekook moments, especially when they're playing the red light, green light game. Taehyung's attention is all on Jungkook.
Tumblr media
Episode 51 - This episode is jam-packed with taekook! They're on a team together and they just have the time of their life playing on the rides. Look at them holding hands 🥹
Tumblr media
Episode 56 - Taekook stick together a lot as bts plays games, and then there's the extra cute moment where Tae checks up on Jungkook when he's cooking ramen.
Tumblr media
Episode 61/62 - Multiple cute taekook moments during these episodes. They were very playful with each other.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Episode 102 - Taekook are paired up to cook together and it's pretty hilarious but also very domestic and soft, with Jungkook watching over Tae so that he doesn't hurt himself.

Episode 116/117 - There's several cute moments with taekook, including them giggling together in their own little world and lots of taekook karaoke.
Tumblr media
Episode 145 - Tae helping Jungkook with his mission and then protecting him 🥺
Tumblr media
I know there's plenty more episodes with a lot of taekook, but that's all I can think of right now. I'd also recommend watching the Run bts behind clips because sometimes there's taekook moments in there that were not included in the episode.

part 2 of season 2, episode 2 continued (won’t get this repetitive mashup again)
50. it’s funny that clary goes back to art school when she wasn’t accepted probably a week ago until they saw the rune sketching. her art wasn’t good enough to get in lmaooo
51. Luke: this sounds familiar (I also don’t see any chemistry or get why they are together)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
52. I love a Luke that goes off because really, Jocelyn thinks she can make these decisions for everyone and that they should just accept it???????
53. I meant to add these ones before: (look at Magnus helping Simon 🥰)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
54. welcome to Agra, India simon (the duo you didn’t know you needed)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
55. I always love Magnus’s smile here
Tumblr media
56. Magnus: that thieving little snake of a psycho ex
Tumblr media Tumblr media
57. not only does Camille hurt Magnus but she takes his bloody vase from the Ming Dynasty era and that probably hurt more 😭
Tumblr media
58. poor Simon is thinking can you summon Camille already??????
59. Simon: I thought you would help me 😭
Tumblr media Tumblr media
60. Magnus: I have more important matters Simon
Tumblr media Tumblr media
61. Magnus is like I did the easy part so now you do the hard part
Tumblr media Tumblr media
62. I love how Magnus says sire squabble (I DONT KNOW IT MAKES ME LAUGH)
Tumblr media
63. Magnus: I don’t need to deal with my psycho ex when I’m finally on good terms with my new man
Tumblr media
64. Simon needs to go on his own as face his fears ✨ I’ll never understand how the circle and the clave look at downworlders as if they’re all evil. I’ve never seen one be rude without cause or help another out. Magnus is constantly helping people out
65. literally Magnus would do anything for anyone and he doesn’t even ask for any gratitude
66. and Simon doesn’t realize how lucky he is to have Magnus and Luke. most of the downworlders probably don’t have anyone
67. and it’s got to be scary not knowing what your body is going through and having no one. I’m chronically ill and I spent a lot of it navigating alone. not the same but it’s very terrifying and draining at times
68. and Raphael has every reason to be on Simon for summoning Camille which we will see soon. Raphael wasn’t in charge of the dens from the vampire Maria, Camille turned her, and he’s getting punished for something he didn’t do. I really love show Raphael too. I didn’t care for his book version that much. I just thought he was this dead (sorry) child who hated everything and everyone- and I love the relationship show Raphael and Magnus have more
I purposely stopped at 69 because how hard could that be to remember for part 3 😭 I’ll try to finish it up either later tonight or tomorrow or some time soon)
