The Bangtan Gal Chapter 94- MAMA Awards 2016 Part 2

Chapter Summary: BTS win their first Daesang! Tensions run high when Jen's friendship with Hyuna ends abruptly due to sneak dissing and a scrapped performance. BTS attends the Mama Awards making iconic moments that leave the world shooked.

On stage, as it was darkened, it lightened up with red lights in the background, showing off her powerful silhouette. Once the audience saw it was her, they cheered loudly. She then began a dance break with the back up dancers, dancing fiercely.

"Hong Kong! If you don't know my name, you gon' know, tonight!" she shouted and began to sing, bouncing to the beat.

Backstage, Bangtan was dancing along while they were being filmed by a Bangtan bomb. They bounced and jumped to her singing. Yoongi had been the one to post the fan chant lyrics on Twitter to prepare fans. His efforts were rewarded as he heard the loud fan chants. ARMY truly never lets Bangtan down.

"Wave your hands side to side," she continued to sing but then stopped as the audience, especially Armies, began to take over to repeat the lyrics.

Pleasantly surprised though pleased, she smiled and even saw the light sticks waving around on beat. As she walked, she placed the mic to her mouth and then the words began to flow while she looked at the camera.

Aye yo, Cube & MAMA, why you lying saying I ain't ready?

Miss Bangtan standin' on business, you know she keep it steady

I'm a savage and tonight Jennie gon' wreak havoc

The way she delivered the last line as she leaned in close to the camera with a wicked grin and head tilt caused anticipation around the venue as they cheered.

Her sudden rapping caused idols to look stunned, especially with the passion in her tone. They expected her to sing but rap? It was about to go down as they glanced at Hyuna.

"Oh shit, it's happening!" Bam Bam started freaking out with Jackson.

"Here she goes," Namjoon smiled, noticing her whole demeanor change.

"Make us proud, smartie..." Yoongi watched on with a smile.

Haters obsessed with what I got next in store

She turned around with the backup dancers, giving a full view of her backside while rocking to the beat which got reactions from idols who 'whooed' and admired her stage presence. She turned back around to continue to dance as her hair bounced beautifully with the camera following her.

Natural Body looks so good they try to replicate

No matter what y'all do you can't duplicate

She was then left alone on stage.

It sucks I gotta work twice as hard to get that recognition

I'm just as good, a bulletproof girl on a mission

Bangtan applying that pressure and we 'bout to do damage

We stay looking fresher while haters be at a disadvantage

Taking a glimpse of Hyuna made Jennie begin to walk right in the direction of where the idols were sitting as the camera followed her. As she walked, people began to realize that she was walking towards her.

"Is she heading in her direction?" Hobi grinned.

"Yes, she is!" Taehyung cheered.

The members watched proudly, anticipating what was going to happen next.

With the way Jennie's expression changed, Bangtan watched as she legitimately started to get angry.

"Control your emotions..." Yoongi murmured as he watched her.

The idols geared up for what was about to happen, glancing back and forth from Hyuna to Jennie.

'Remember Yoongi's words...stay calm or you're gonna lose focus,' Jennie thought to herself as she kept her composure.

She took a deep breath to relax and continued on the mic.

How's this? How's this? You better reap what you sow

All this buffoonery better stop now cause I'm about to blow

Gave you one too many warnings, let me get this off my chest

What I got to say can't even save you with a bulletproof vest

Grabbing a chair, Jennie pulled it right to Hyuna and sat right in front of her as ARMY cheered loudly. She began to look at her dead in the eyes while idols looked around in shock. Some of the IOI members gasped, questioning if this was really happening. Hayoon smiled proudly while the rest of GFriend continued to watch on the edge of their seats.

"Damn," Jooheon grinned. "Right in front of her, eh?"

Bam Bam's eyes looked like they were about to pop out while Zico glanced at Crush and Dean, nodding, looking impressed.

"Oh shit!" Taehyung shouted.

"Did you know she was planning to do that?" Jimin looked bewildered.

"Nah, she didn't say a thing," Jin looked on.

"She said expect the unexpected. She's doing a damn good job with the unexpected," Jimin watched in awe.

Hyuna looked upset as a frown came across her face while staring at Jennie who continued to rap.

Jungkook grinned to himself. "That's my girl," he proudly said while Yoongi laughed out loud with the rapline on her bubble pop insult.

She then leaned forward, keeping her eyes on her.

Fake female monsta, you talk when I'm not around but I like to be direct

So I'ma address you on this stage so you can get checked.

Yea I'm the best from head to toe

Still bulletproof, it's ridiculous that you don't know

Miss Hyuna, you stay sneak dissin' but go mute when I'm in your face

Jennie was surprised the show didn't cut off her mic and kept going, relishing the moment. She flipped her hair to the side and stared at Hyuna, unimpressed.

Face twisted up in anger cause I hit a nerve

I'll be the first to say that it's what she deserves

If you respond, I already know everything you'll say

She's disrespectful, huh?

Doesn't respect her seniors, huh?

She's ghetto, huh?

Getting out of the seat, she kicked it to the side and stood in front of her to continue while moving to the beat. She prepared to use every flaw and insult she assumed Hyuna might use against her and twisted it for her advantage.

I got issues with being too friendly, what could I have done differently?

My friendliness can be a disadvantage, you clearly took advantage

Played me for a fool, I am foolish for trusting you

You look nervous, did you realize you bit off more than you can chew?

She ended her rap, predicting the future. She spoke over the instrumental while looking up and down at Hyuna in disgust. "This is the first and last time I'm addressing this. Don't you ever in your life play with me,"

Monsta X were grinning to themselves while the audience caught a lot of the idols' reactions and were quite pleased to see the drama. Jooheon thought about Show Me The Money and his fair share of rap battles.

The way Hyuna looked angry and upset, caused Jennie to smirk in satisfaction with the music changing slightly as she started nodding to the beat.

"Yeah. Wave ya hands side to side. Wave ya hands side to side," Jennie sang.

Some idols were waving their hands along with her and the audience with their lightsticks.

"Sing!" Jennie instructed, raising her mic up, as ARMY took over the lyrics.

Bangtan started dancing and jumping around and began singing the lyrics too while getting filmed for a Bangtan Bomb. ARMY never lets BTS down. They were a huge part of this becoming successful as they continued to chant.

Then she proceeded to speak on beat one last time in front of Hyuna. "Yea this trick about to go off, mad 'cause I'm so fresh. Fresher than you. I'm fresher than you. Fresher than you, oh,"

"Ah-Ha-HA~!" Miss Bangtan laughed loudly in a high voice and began to walk back.

Zico laughed at how dramatic her laugh was and applauded with Crush who was amused. Yoongi was proud and loved how she defended herself confidently and aggressively, applauding with the rest of the members.

"That's my fuckin' Smartie!" he shouted proudly.

Jungkook stared at the screen with admiration. This was her moment and she did it justice. She truly soared tonight and deserved this.

"Her rapline initiation is complete," Hobi said proudly as the rapline grinned at each other.

"Yeah. She handled herself well, out there. Cypher Part 4," Yoongi confirmed with a nod.

"The remix," Namjoon added as they agreed.

"Don't let Taehyung hear you say that," Jin laughed lightly.

"I heard everything! I demand a spot, too!" Taehyung whined.

"NO," the rapline shut it down, causing Jin, Jungkook, and Jimin to laugh.

Social media went crazy over Jennie and tweeted:

Turning around, Jennie kept her head up high and strutted back to the stage. She proceeded to walk down the ramp as the background turned red to show her silhouette once more and the LED screen and background turned into fire. The music slowly transitioned to the opening beats of fire with the drums.

She broke out into a smile, observing all the light sticks and especially the army bombs still high up and lit for her.

"Hong Kong!" she announced in a shout, earning loud cheers. "I am Jennie of BTS and Bangtan is about to set the roof on fire, baby! Hong Kong are you ready!?"

She received louder cheers and screams as her strong, confident aura radiated off of her.

Fire....fire....

While she stood on the main stage, the rap line popped up to join her and the audience got even more excited.

"It's BTS! And you're now watchin' this one!" Namjoon announced.

"Hong Kong!" Yoongi shouted.

"Blow up!"

"Let's go!" Jennie shouted.

The music intensified as the rest of the group joined and started getting hyped up with the music.

"Whoop! Whoop! Whoop! Whoop!" Yoongi shouted.

As they performed fire, Jennie kept a big smile on her face, feeling elated about everything happening at the show, popping the moves out powerfully.

Standing near Jungkook, she leaned to the side and locked eyes with him while smiling at each other.

Strutting up to the front, Jennie flicked her nose with her thumb, changing her face into a serious expression.

Standing with Namjoon she dapped him up as their hands collided perfectly.

“Aye, live it up. Bangtan just exploded on the scene~!”

The boys rocked to the beat around her and people noticed the way the rap line smiled proudly at her as she performed her verse.

“Calling us extra yet you still want to hang. Bang to the tan, you wanna join this gang. Keep your eyes on me, I am still that chick! Don’t you stand too close, what, you think you slick? Admit we the shhh as we tear it down!”

The boys dramatically turned to her while she placed a finger to her lips before they followed her around as she continued.

“BTS is the flame they wanna water down! Bangtan is still here and we killin’ it still. We always start the fire, you just a fire drill! AH-HA~!"

As the backup dancers danced with them, Jen got hyped, shouting,

After performing, Bangtan went backstage and they went in for a group hug, pleased with how their stage turned out. They were all tired and sweaty but still feeling the adrenaline of being on stage and happy for Jen's solo stage.

"Jennifer, that was fucking amazing!" Yoongi grinned and lifted her up, spinning her around as she laughed. "I am so fucking proud of you! You did it!"

He set her down as she felt overwhelmed with joy, thanking him and the rest of the boys for their support as they praised her.

"Undeniable. I told you," Namjoon confirmed with a grin.

"You had us laughing. You really went in. I was a little scared," Jin laughed. "But you looked powerful and beautiful on that stage. My heart leaped with joy watching you,"

"I have the coolest girlfriend ever. She sings. She dances. She acts. And now she raps. I'm a lucky man," Jungkook grinned and pulled her in closer for a side hug as he kissed her cheek. "You never cease to amaze me, you know that? Every day with you is a new adventure and today has been full of fun memories and surprises. I can't wait to see what else you do,"

"All those lessons have been paying off. I'm impressed, Munchkin," Hobi beamed. "You proved exactly who Miss Bangtan is. Your stage presence has improved a lot since last year,"

"That's our Ennie!" Jimin gave her an eye smile. "My favorite part was when you sat in front of her. That caught us all by surprise. You were fantastic out there,"

"I told you she was amazing when I saw her in the practice room! I was the one who believed in her first! Now look at you soar. Soaring like the beautiful butterfly that you are, flying to your full potential..." Taehyung pulled her in for a big kiss on the temple and a hug.

The rest of the members joined back in for another group hug.

"Thank you for always being my strength. All of you are the best. We did that shit, huh!?" She asked as she pulled away and high fived them when they all agreed. "We all did so well. The dancing, the singing, the rapping...we made a huge name for ourselves tonight. I'm proud of us. I'm proud of what we accomplished so far. Thank you for always creating such beautiful memories here. I can't wait to make more with you guys,"

As the members walked backstage, they continued to be filmed with the Bangtan Bomb.

"I am hot. I am sweaty. I am exhausted. I think I overdid it a bit but I'm standing strong," Jennie put up the peace sign as she walked.

"Ah, I'm disappointed. I could've done better," Yoongi brought up as he thought about his performance.

"What?! You did great! Don't down yourself like that. You had me hyped on that stage with you!"

"Really? Thanks, Smartie,"

"Of course," she smiled and placed a hand on his back, patting it.

As the show went on, Wiz Khalifa finally got on stage. He performed Young, Wild, and Free as BTS were on their feet, dancing to the song as it brought back memories. As the boys watched Jennie be in her own world, dancing happily, they gathered around in a semi-circle to hype her up as she kept moving.

A camera began to film them while she started to rap Wiz's part, not caring who watched as fancams caught idols watching Bangtan.

"It look clean, don't it? Washed it the other day, whatch how you lean on it. Give me some 501 jeans on it. Roll joints bigger than King Kong's fingers. And smoke them hoes down 'til they stingers. You a class clown and if I skip for the day. I'm with your bitch smokin' grade A!"

"You can't take me nowhere!" Jennie laughed as the boys sang the chorus.

"Hands up! Hey! Hey! I see you, BTS!" The DJ pointed out, causing the audience to cheer loudly when the camera showed them.

"I see you, Jennie!" Wiz pointed, shouting her out when she caught his attention as she rapped and danced.

She turned to Wiz and pointed back with a big grin on her face. Yet another fun highlight for the show.

As he performed See You Again, Jennie sang with the boys and laughed when the screen showed Bam Bam messing up the lyrics.

When GFriend won best dance performance for a female group, Jennie cheered loudly and immediately went to hug Hayoon.

Fans tweeted how they loved that it was becoming a tradition for those two to find each other whenever they win an award and that some still shipped them together.

Watching their acceptance speech made her tear up, especially when Eunha began speaking. When GFriend returned to their seats, she went to hug them all and congratulated them again.

When EXO performed, Jennie acted like the ultimate fangirl, making sure to sing along and cheer. She had plans to collaborate with EXO for the end of the year shows and she couldn't wait to dance with them. She and Sehun had something special planned as well and she was already practicing with him for it.

"I came prepared this time!" Jennie cheered and took out her personal EXO Lightstick, using it while they performed.

"Seriously?" Yoongi laughed with the boys as they shook their heads.

"What?" she asked with a laugh. "It's frickin' EXO!"

As she waved her lightstick and did some of the fan chants, fans tweeted how she'd be one of the reasons to end the EXO/BTS fanwar and that what she was doing was one of the reasons why Exols liked Jennie the most out of Bangtan. Others thought she was hilarious acting this way and loved how she supported the groups that performed, vibing to their music.

Baekhyun's solo dance at the end had her losing her mind as the members laughed at her enthusiasm.

"Kings! Literally kings! They nail it every time!" she applauded.

After Twice won Song of The Year, it was time for Artist of The Year to be announced. Jennie sat in between Namjoon and Jin as they awaited the results. She sensed her leader's nervousness and the way he was anxiously biting his fingers made her start to rub his back. She then grabbed one of his hands, giving it a big squeeze as they awaited the results.

Will it be EXO again?

Ha Ji Won was the presenter as she opened the envelope.

"The award goes to...BTS!"

It took a few moments for Jennie to register as she sat there dumbfounded. All of Bangtan were shocked while Namjoon looked so relieved and happy as tears developed in his eyes. With them all standing up, they gathered in a group hug as the crowd cheered. The walk up to the stage was a heartfelt one as Jennie felt her emotions get to her.

Artist of the Year. They won artist of the freakin' year!

She stood in between Yoongi and J-Hope while Namjoon began his speech.

"ARMY!" he paused, feeling his emotions get to him. "Really, thank you so much. We went through a lot since we debuted and there were people who said we wouldn't make it. Jennie hugged Yoongi who started breaking down into tears while Hobi also consoled him. Seeing Yoongi cry started to make her cry as she tried not to mess up her makeup. But the tears began to flow down her cheeks.

They all gathered into another group hug.

"Thank you very much. We love you all!"

"Thank you very much!" Jimin added.

"Thank you!" Jennie cheered.

"We hope that our music and stages will become that of many people's dreams and hopes," Namjoon added and went back to English. "I hope that our stage, our performance, and our music can be the hopes and dreams of many people around the world. Thank you very much. We will work really hard, thank you very much,"

They all bowed and clapped. When they were back in their seats, Jennie sat in between Jimin and Taehyung while EXO won album of the year. Bangtan was still overwhelmed with emotions that they won Artist of the Year as they tried to listen to their speech. However, Jennie and Jungkook couldn't stop their tears from flowing as they both began crying.

"Damn...we're artist of the year..." she broke down into a sob.

Jimin and Taehyung wrapped an arm around her to console her and the older members began to notice their youngest members crying.

"Both of them are crying. Ah, it's all right," Namjoon said as he comforted them.

Yoongi gave tissues to them as they wiped their tears. Jen could already feel a slight headache coming from the crying. Before she knew it, the show ended as confetti dropped from the stage. After pulling herself together, she stood up and proceeded to walk with the rest of the group, bowing at other idols and waving at fans, sniffling.

Feeling arms around her, she noticed that Hayoon had approached her to back hug her.

"Jennie~! Aw, you were crying?" she giggled while she turned around in her arms. She wiped Jen's tears. "It's okay! I'm so proud of you and the boys! Bangtan deserved the award!"

"Thank you, I'm proud of you! We're soaring high, huh?"

"Just like we said we would!"

Jennie met up with the rest of the members as they group hugged once more.

"I'm so damn proud of us! We did it!" she jumped up and down with them in celebration.

Still wandering around the stage to bow and say hi to familiar faces, Exols and Armies cheered loudly when Baekhyun and Jennie met up

"Jennie," he smiled warmly and embraced her.

She raved over his performance while he praised her work tonight.

"Congrats on your win tonight! I'm so happy for EXO!"

"Thank you! Congratulations on Artist of the Year! Bangtan is more than deserving. How do you feel?"

"A whole Daesang at MAMA? I cannot believe this is real,"

"Get used to it. This is only the beginning for Bangtan. Enjoy every moment. It's going to be a fun journey,"

She smiled and nodded, feeling the waterworks coming again. To see idols come up and be so genuinely happy for Bangtan was sweet. She thanked him and they embraced again.

"Remind us not to make you angry," Chanyeol said as he walked past, making both her and Baekhyun laugh.

"I would never do that to you, Chanyeol! I love you!"

"I like to be loved. I'm happy we're on the same page. I love you, too," he laughed.

As Bangtan walked backstage with cameras still filming them, Sehun called out Jennie's name, causing her to turn and grin. She broke away from the group to chat with him as they were filmed.

"Yo~!" her eyes lit up as she hugged him. "Congratulations! Okay, album of the year! Showing out, huh?"

He chuckled. "Thank you. Congratulations on Artist of the Year. It feels great, doesn't it? Hard work paying off,"

"Yeah! It really does! I'm still shaking. You see my adrenaline pumping?" she revealed her shaky hands as he nodded.

'Heartwarming meeting between two grand prize recipients. Maknaes of their respective groups,'

After chatting, the two embraced and the camera captured the sweet moment between friends. Once she made it to where Angelina was with Bangtan who had been sitting front row in the audience, Jennie happily embraced her. Angelina was thrilled about Bangtan's win and performance, losing her mind about everything.

"GIRL! GIRL!" Angelina kept shaking Jennie, congratulating her on her successful evening at MAMA. "I am so damn proud of you! The rapping!? Who is this girl!? Suga, you turned her into a monster! That was lethal! Hyuna was so quiet, it cracked me up! She was mad as hell~! Suga, thank you for igniting this fire in my best friend! You should have seen me, I was filming and screaming for you. I am so posting videos and photos when we make it back to Seoul!"

After getting situated, Bangtan and Angelina were at the airport seated on their designated plane, waiting for it to take off so they could head back to Seoul. Jennie sat at a window seat next to Jungkook while the end seat was empty. The rest of the members and Angelina sat near them and all of them were on their phones. It was at this moment that Jennie and Jungkook were going to post everything they prepared for their relationship reveal.

"We doing this?" Namjoon asked with a smile, phone ready on Twitter.

"Just say the cue," Jimin happily grinned.

"Whenever you both are ready," Taehyung added.

"I got a lot to say so just tell me when you post," Angelina brought up.

All of them had their posts ready along with videos, photos, and large messages of support for them. This was a huge deal. This moment. Revealing that they were dating to the world. As if the kiss wasn't a bombshell, this reveal was about to be. A decision they thought over for a long time.

Jungkook blew out some air as he reread the post he planned to publish on Twitter along with the photos. Rereading everything, a smile came across his face.

"Our world is going to change once we hit post," he said as he turned his head to look at Jennie.

She nodded and met his gaze. "I know. And I'm not going to apologize for being in love with someone who has made me the happiest I've ever been,"

"I won't either,"

"You'll stand next to me through this like you said,"

"That I will," he ensured and pressed his lips against her sweetly. "I love you,"

"I love you, too. Okay. I'm ready. Let's do this," she smiled and clicked the post button for her tweet.

Jungkook immediately posted right after and so did the rest while Big Hit posted the scheduled YouTube videos and official statement tweet from Big Hit's Twitter for their relationship. Quickly going on Instagram, Jennie posted her truth there and once confirming everything had been sent, she deleted Twitter and Instagram.

As she laid her head on Jungkook's shoulder, he laid his head on her head and they both closed their eyes. Might as well enjoy these final peaceful hours on this flight. Because once they stepped foot in Seoul...all that was going to end.

⠀ ⠀ ׁ ࣭ ✶ ⠀ ⠀seolhyeon was a professional figure skater from ages 5 to 15, who was ( and still is ) well known for being a prodigy on the ice; there was no jump or movement that seolhyeon couldn’t master and everyone in the figure skating community knew that. her most well-known tricks are the cantilever, side aerial, the death drop spin, the triple axel, and the six quad jumps — she was the first woman to land all of six quads ( axel, lutz, loop, salchow, toe loop, and flip ) in one program, at the winter olympics 2014. she has great coordination and is extremely flexible. another trick she knows is the hydroblade (yuzuru hanyu taught her it).

⠀ ⠀ ׁ ࣭ ✶ ⠀ ⠀seolhyeon won silver under the women’s figure skating division at the sochi winter olympics in 2014, yuna kim receiving gold (irl, yuna was robbed of gold by adelina sotnikova who won after scores were tampered with in adelina’s favor (allegedly! but yuna’s performance was far better than adelina’s in my opinion so roll with me yeah) — in seolhyeon’s world, yuna wins overall! sorry not sorry!) and carolina kostner winning bronze. ⠀ ⠀ ׁ ࣭ ✶ ⠀ ⠀seolhyeon used to compete under the u.s. flag (🇺🇸) from 2003 to 2012 but after she moved to south korea in 2013 and she regained her citizenship to compete in the olympics, she was allowed to register with the south korean flag (🇰🇷). speaking of which, she started her figure skating career in 2001 but didn’t compete until 2003 after she was adopted into the baek family.

⠀ ⠀ ׁ ࣭ ✶ ⠀ ⠀seolhyeon has a scar on her left thigh, running from the back of her knee up to her thigh, given to her by another figure skater's skates when she was 11. they were practicing before a performance and got too close to each other mid-spins without realizing it, leading the other skater to accidentally slice seolhyeon’s skin with her skate. the cut was deep but thankfully didn’t hurt anything vital, though, she was left with a nasty scar after she was dragged to the e.r. to get stitches before she could step foot back into the ice rink ( she got a huge earful from her coach, alyssa, when they were left alone together after the incident, calling her nasty names for “being dumb and not careful” ). she’s quite insecure over it and tends to wear clothing that covers it; if she’s unable to cover it with clothes, she covers it as much as possible with make-up.

⠀ ⠀ ׁ ࣭ ✶ ⠀ ⠀seolhyeon retired from figure skating in 2014 and for a long time, she believed she no longer loved it how she used to and that was the end of it. it wasn’t until early 2020 that she rediscovered the love she once felt for the sport after namjoon and pdogg showed her the beat and lyrics of black swan — she instantly fell in love with it and right after she finished recording her lines for the song, she went to the local ice rink and skated to it.

⠀ ⠀ ׁ ࣭ ✶ ⠀ ⠀seolhyeon has great memory when it comes to choreography or tricks. even after almost a decade of not skating, she returned to the ice as if she never left — doing the tricks she’s known for with ease.

⠀ ⠀ ׁ ࣭ ✶ ⠀ ⠀seolhyeon appears to be taller than she really is due to the platform shoes and high heels she wears daily — sometimes even the rest of the group forget how short she actually is when she has regular shoes; she’s the shortest amongst the group — 152cm / 5’0ft — so she’s always wearing high shoes to at least appear taller next to the boys during photo shoots and events.

⠀ ⠀ ׁ ࣭ ✶ ⠀ ⠀seolhyeon is very clumsy. especially on normal ground … by that i mean she’s less likely to fall face first on ice; on there she could run a marathon and maybe even do some pirouettes while doing so.

⠀ ⠀ ׁ ࣭ ✶ ⠀ ⠀seolhyeon is very good with languages, she’s quick to learn languages hence why she knows six — korean, english, korean sign language, spanish, japanese, and mandarin. she’s not fluent in all of them but she knows more than enough to get by.

SO, WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED IN 2021 ... ?!

Well, look no further, because we have all the answers to all your questions.

In 2021, KRUSH was at the top of their game. Coming off the heels of a massively successful comeback and gearing up for one of their most iconic releases yet, the girls were simply unstoppable. But there was one member who had the biggest star power of them all that year: Kaleina Jung. Her viral solo debut in January took the industry by storm, positioning her as one of BigHit's most profitable artists and the bar for the rest of KRUSH's solo debuts. However, despite Kaleina's career success, not all was well.

Privately, she was going through it. After publicly coming out during one of KRUSH's concerts just two years prior, GGBs were split straight down the middle at how they received the news. Half of them loved it, and the other half hated it. They called for BigHit to kick her out the group, wrote letters to her, burned her merch, trended #KaleinaOut and #KRUSH_Is_3, tried to delude themselves into thinking her bisexuality "wasn't real," and even boycotted the entire group. Obviously, Kaleina saw all of it.

Driven to depression and diagnosed with anxiety disorder, she was almost placed on hiatus in early 2020. That never happened, though, as Kaleina was adamant on finishing her activities with KRUSH. As the year dragged on, however, everything just got worse for her, and it all came to a head in 2021.

So, just what happened during that fateful year? Well, ask no more. All your questions will be answered right here, right now.

It's June 2019. KRUSH has just finished their show in Los Angeles, a small part of their massive world tour. That night, Kaleina does something rather bold for an idol of her caliber. She comes out as bisexual in front of a crowd of thousands, pulling out a flag from inside of her pocket. Despite the love from the crowd and support from her fellow members, a small part of the internet is about to tear Kaleina to shreds.

First it started with an outcry of "disappointment," but then it escalated to the letters. These are a few written by K-GGBs in 2019. One of them reads, "I cannot support an idol who thinks engaging in this type of sin is right. Kyung-ja has betrayed her fans' trust by doing such things, and as long as she's still a member of KRUSH, I will not be pouring my time and energy into them any longer. BigHit, make the right choice and remove Kyung-ja from the team. She is poisoning the rest of the girls."

One of Kaleina's largest fansites, @/LEINAISMS, shut down following Kaleina's announcement. They returned a day later to call for Chanhee's appointment as KRUSH's new leader, promising to rebrand as a Chanhee fansite... but that never happened.

As the year closed out, the "discourse" surrounding Kaleina's sexuality began to take a toll on her. In screenshots obtained from her private Instagram stories, she expresses just how sad she is at the divide revealing her sexuality has caused. And to whoever leaked these, you kind of suck, by the way.

Screenshots of the leaked stories. There was another that reportedly read "what will my fucking company think," but that was quickly deleted and the leaker wasn't able to attain a screenshot. There was also one that read "like y'all are trending HASHTAGS to get me KICKED OUT MY GROUP," but the leaker wasn't able to attain that one, either. After these screenshots began circulating, Kaleina quickly deleted her story and deactivated her private account. It was down for nearly a year.

Koreaboo later reported that a source close to Kaleina told Dispatch that she had such frequent panic attacks that she was almost unable to complete a performance or step in front of a camera, which led to her aforementioned anxiety diagnosis. She began expressing doubts surrounding her capabilities as a leader, something she had never done before, and was "very upset" that something that she was excited to share with fans was turned into something so ugly.

This report quieted things down a bit, but in no way did it satiate KRUSH's oddly homophobic fans. In fact, they only doubled down, sharing pictures of them burning Kaleina's merch and physically cutting her out of group photos. It got to the point where her own family had to respond.

The year came to an end, and publicly, Kaleina was looking fine. Everyone knew that she wasn't, though. especially considering the month long "sort of hiatus" she was put on during Test Drive promotions back in November 2019. Throughout 2020, one of KRUSH's biggest years career wise, the Kaleina hate train never truly stopped, but since it was considered "old news," it didn't get too much attention from GGBs anymore. However, that certain subsection of "fans" didn't want their message to fall on deaf ears, and they got the perfect opportunity to be as loud as possible by Kaleina's solo debut.

A video was posted to YouTube by a now deleted user in January 2021, showing Korean fans screaming "leave," "we don't need you," and "you've committed a sin" during Kaleina's performance of "Cobra." The video went viral, garnering over two million views in the three days that it was left up. After those three days, however, the video was taken down and the user who posted it was mysteriously deleted. That same day, BigHit released a statement notifying fans that they would be taking legal action against any malicious comments or actions directed at Kaleina, and that anyone involved in the "cheering" that was seen in the video would be blacklisted from any upcoming KRUSH events, which included music show broadcasts.

"Hello, this is BigHit Entertainment. It's recently come to our attention that the hate leveled against Kaleina has gotten to levels that we can no longer ignore. Since 2019, Kaleina herself has informed us that she wishes not to take legal action against malicious commenters and the individuals who spread misinformation against her. However, regarding a recent incident that occurred at KBS Music Bank, we can no longer continue to let these issues go unheeded. After discussing this with Kaleina, she has agreed to allow us to take legal action against anyone who thinks cyberbullying our artist is a good idea. Anyone who does so will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, and will be required to answer to the corresponding District Court. Additionally, anyone who took part in the KBS Music Bank incident will be blacklisted from any official KRUSH activities (concerts, fan meetings, showcases, broadcasts, etc.) from here on out. We, BigHit Entertainment, and Kaleina ask you for your sincere support and understanding. Thank you."

BigHit finally issuing a statement did cause the situation to briefly die down, but the timing of this video surfacing was definitely interesting considering what would happen next. Dispatch would rear its ugly head once again, and they would release an article that would change everything. So if you thought for a second that everything was over, then you are sorely mistaken. Shit would truly hit the fan now.

February 2nd, 2021. Only a few short weeks into Kaleina's promotions for "Cobra." All is (somewhat) well in KRUSH-land for a while, until Dispatch does what they always do. The second the article read around the world hit the internet, Kaleina's dating "scandal" went down as one of the most prolific ones in K-pop history.

The article was pretty cut and dry, sharing alleged photos of Kaleina and an unknown female choreographer at a restaurant together, supposedly looking closer than regular friends or colleagues would. According to the source who witnessed it, the unspecified female in question (known as Female A in the article) was placing her hand on Kaleina's waist, kissed her on the forehead, and apparently, they also held hands (oh, the horror) and kissed. On the lips. And in the split second that Kaleina forgot to put her mask back up, the anonymous source caught a picture of her. It was basically confirmed: Kaleina had a girlfriend.

But, how did said source know that it was a choreographer specifically? Well, apparently they could "tell." Verbatim, they said that, "the other woman just had that vibe to her."

...Okay.

A couple of days later, Dispatch obtained another photo, this one being of Kaleina and the choreographer boarding a private flight to Los Angeles. Allegedly, it was for a solo schedule that Kaleina was meant to attend, but oddly enough, she was going with Female A. Seeing as she was a choreographer (apparently), this made sense from a work standpoint, but as always, netizens spun it to mean something else entirely, especially since Female A and Kaleina were literally both seen together just a few days prior. The same source as before was also the one to feed this information to Dispatch, and they'd allegedly obtained Kaleina's flight information by paying airport employees. Unfortunately.

Another couple of days later, though, the initial article was updated. This time, with another batch of leaked photos. And these ones were something else.

All the photos that were leaked. The worst part? They were taken from Kaleina's iCloud, which was reportedly hacked by the leaker in question. The fact that these were the only nine they released means that they were searching, and only God knows if they could've released more. The photos (one of which—second in the middle row—was taken by Aeri and sent to Kaleina) were grainy and looked edited to hell for some reason, and no one really knew if the other woman was who they were thinking, but some eagle-eyed GGBs were certain it was.

Just a few hours later, more photos were released. At the rate that all this was happening, make no mistake that this was the story of the week. Stans were up and down Twitter wondering what was going to happen next. One half was happy for Kaleina and wanted the breaches of her privacy to stop already, the other half wanted her head on a pike.

The photos that were leaked were more Instagram stories, one from Kaleina that was accidentally uploaded to her official Instagram account, rather than a separate account (which was another private account speculated to possibly belong to her girlfriend). The other was from Sienna Yoon's official account, dating back to early 2019.

Wait... Sienna Yoon?

Apparently, Female A's identity had been revealed.

Now, the first photo apparently dated back to late 2020, which is when a lot of people think Kaleina and Sienna began dating... and the photo definitely reinforces their suspicions. The second photo, as mentioned before, dated all the way back to early 2019. Mind you, Kaleina wasn't even publicly out yet, and at the time, she and Sienna were widely known to be close friends.

However, GGBs also knew that they tended to act closer than "close friends" should.

They would be together almost all the time, with the other members of KRUSH even outwardly joking that outside of practice, they spent the most time together. Even during practice, Sienna would heap the most attention onto Kaleina, and they would get oddly touchy with each other, even while on camera. One major thing is that Sienna would frequently call Kaleina "baby girl," which... is something Sienna herself admitted that she just does. A lot of GGBs simply chalked it up to them being really close or labeled it as something south of fanservice, but within BigHit, everyone could tell. There was tension. And if you were a GGB and particularly observant (or just insane), you could tell, too.

Following these leaks and sometime in March, Kaleina sent a series of texts to her bandmate and famed best friend, Aeri Yamamoto. In them, she expressed her (understandable) frustration towards the situation, and ended the conversation by saying that if the texts were also leaked, she wouldn't be surprised.

Surprise, surprise. The texts were leaked, revealed by none other than Koreaboo. Shortly afterwards, Kaleina was seen with a new phone outside of M Countdown, as KRUSH had just made their comeback with their fourth full album, Heartbreak's Daughter. She was serious.

Now, GGBs were calling for the leaks to stop. They were trending #LeaveKaleinaAlone and #BigHitDoSomething practically non-stop for weeks. Others were calling her a crybaby and "someone who wasn't fit for fame," and even Aeri was getting dragged into it. But even with that, Kaleina's "dating scandal" was still the one thing on everyone's minds.

By now, Sienna's name was 100% attached to the so-called "scandal." However, could anyone really verify for sure that Kaleina's girlfriend was actually her? The aforementioned Instagram story was posted two years prior, and it looked like exactly what it was: a friendly outing. Maybe Sienna and Kaleina really were just friends, and the unknown girl was someone else entirely.

But you know what would change everyone's minds?

That infamous Twitter thread.

In the thread, the user @/leinanator (who, at the time, was one of Kaleina's biggest fan accounts), known commonly as Carlie, starts off by pointing out a lot of things that GGBs were already aware of. However, she then began going into things that no one even noticed, which really sealed the deal for a lot of people. For one, back in October 2020, Sienna was seen wearing Kaleina's bisexual flag bracelet that she made in July 2019 in a choreography video posted by YGX. That was definitely interesting, considering that Kaleina never let anyone wear the bracelet, not even her own bandmates.

Other pieces of evidence from around this time period included the multiple instances where they were at the same place at around the same time, Kaleina's posts showing her at the YGX dance studio, and even a few instances where Sienna would talk about Kaleina in ways that friends would not talk about their friends.

Carlie would go on to point out some of Kaleina's lyrics, dating all the way back to September-October 2020 to as recently as January 2021, when Cobra was released. During a live in September 2020, she shared a page of her notebook, where she wrote an unfinished song about an anonymous girl, describing their first meeting. In the live, Kaleina said it was a song she wrote "on a whim," and that it could "possibly be a love song." A lot of lyrics penned by her in some of KRUSH's B-sides point to Kaleina's attraction to women, with clear, often repeated details across nearly every song.

Immediately after being posted, this thread went viral. Within the first hour, GGBs were all over it, with many posting other supposed connections and others claiming that the thread was posted in bad faith. Which... was it? Well...

Apparently, Carlie was so big that she actually kind of knew Kaleina herself. She was very vocal about knowing of Kaleina since her Produce days and attending nearly every KRUSH-related schedule since their debut, and supposedly, Kaleina actually followed her shortly after the account launched all the way back in January 2016. They were nowhere near close friends, but they were at least familiar with each other, and had been for five years at that point. Which makes that thread just a little worse.

At least Carlie didn't air out any more personal information.

But it would only get even worse from here.

A month went by with nothing but pure speculation going on and a few Koreaboo articles here and there, and throughout all of it, Kaleina was still actively promoting with KRUSH, looking as unbothered as ever in public. In May, however, Deuxmoi of all websites suddenly got involved.

On May 6th, just two days after Kaleina's 21st birthday, a blind item was sent to Deuxmoi claiming that Kaleina was definitely, 100%, no speculation needed dating Sienna. However, what proof they did have weren't surface level connections. Apparently, they knew what was going on behind the scenes. They knew Kaleina and Sienna personally.

"I've known Kaleina Jung personally for a while, and everything you guys are saying about her relationship with Sienna Yoon is true. They've been dating for nearly a year now, and they've been close since early 2018, around January at least, and a month later, that was the first public mention of Sienna as KRUSH's choreographer. I prefer not to share them here, but I do have Twitter DMs between Kaleina and I discussing her relationship with Sienna dating as far back as March 2018 and as recently as late 2020. I've also spoken to Sienna before, and she's not exactly subtle regarding her feelings towards Kaleina. They're definitely dating."

'Til this day, GGBs are still trying to figure out who was the one behind the Deuxmoi blind item. However, their prime suspect has been Carlie for years. Although nearly two months passed in between her original thread and the blind item, the fact that the anon behind the latter was (allegedly) as close to Kaleina as Carlie was... it's definitely interesting.

Right after Deuxmoi posted, Carlie tweeted that Kaleina had supposedly unfollowed her. Since then, GGBs were quick to turn against her, unfollowing her en masse and bombarding her with hate. As June began, @/leinanator disappeared. Carlie had deactivated.

The aforementioned Carlie tweet. Although no one in the fandom will truly know who was behind that blind item, Carlie's reputation's as one of Kaleina's first and biggest fan accounts has forever been tainted.

Once Deuxmoi presented this as fact, it was basically over. The hatred for Kaleina reached its peak, with antis calling for her removal, shouting the most vile things known to man at her, boycotting KRUSH, and flooding her comments with hate all over again. Twitter's searches ranged from "Kaleina leave" to "Kaleina bad leader," and it even got to the point where antis were accusing her of prioritizing her relationship over her group... again.

In June, Kaleina disabled her Instagram comments. For the next six months, it was nothing but complete radio silence.

Sienna has been mentioned at least a thousand times so far, but who is she? Well, if you're an idol or at least a well-versed K-pop fan, there's a good chance that you know who she is.

Sienna Yoon (also known as Yoon Seo-yeon) was born on March 4th, 1996 in Seoul, South Korea. Although born in Korea, she was raised in San Antonio and New York City. As a child, she was placed in dance lessons by her parents in order for her to find some sort of hobby. When she entered middle school, Sienna became interested in K-pop, getting into groups such as Baby V.O.X and Wonder Girls. In 2009, she moved back to Korea with her mother, looking to join a training academy. A few months after she did, though, she was scouted by JYP Entertainment.

Sienna trained at JYP for a year and was placed into Miss A's lineup due to her dance skills. What's insane is that she actually ended up debuting with the group, but shortly after the release of "Good-bye Baby," Sienna went on hiatus due to an injury. That hiatus soon turned into her permanently leaving Miss A, and she would pretty much disappear for the rest of 2011. However, in 2012, it was revealed that she had joined CSJ Entertainment's subsidiary, Verse Creative, and was preparing for her re-debut in another girl group.

In May 2012, Sienna debuted again in the 5-member group Queen. The group's debut single, "Dancing Queen," (off of their debut EP of the same name) did well in Korea, replacing their labelmate DI-VERSE's recent single at number one on the charts for a few weeks. For a few years, Queen was almost comparable to DI-VERSE in popularity and were viewed as the former's "big sisters," (despite being their juniors) and as the group's main dancer (plus she was a former Miss A member), Sienna was among the most popular members.

However, as DI-VERSE began to vastly eclipse Queen in popularity, the group was gradually forgotten by the public. Their second to last comeback, released in late 2014, was their worst performing release. In 2015, it was announced by Verse Creative that Queen would be disbanding after releasing their final album in 2015. In April 2015, they officially disbanded. Ironically, their last release was one of their most successful.

Now, what happened to Sienna, you ask? Well, in 2016, she interestingly re-signed to JYP Entertainment. She kickstarted her highly anticipated solo debut with the single "Like that," off of her debut album, SEOYEON.

Sienna's debut did immensely well, selling over 16,000 copies within its first week and topping every chart in Korea. For the next two years, she would have pretty consistent comebacks, would start acting, and she even became somewhat of an influencer with the launch of her personal YouTube channel, SiSiSeo. However, in early 2018, it was announced that Sienna had terminated her contract with JYP and had effectively retired from music, preferring to focus on her career as a dancer. Sienna became one of the first talents signed to YGX, and she soon established her own dance team, KillaQueen. Over the next six years, Sienna became a renowned choreographer, working with artists such as Itzy, BLACKPINK, Somi, Aespa, Sunmi, NewJeans, her former labelmates DI-VERSE... and of course, KRUSH.

More recently, Sienna has choreographed dances for Katseye, BABYMONSTER, and MEOVV. In February 2023, she became one of The Black Label's creative directors, and was appointed as one of the creative directors for MEOVV in 2024.

Eventually, YGX folded in 2024, but with such a stacked roster and her years of experience, Sienna remained under The Black Label and dedicated most of her time to her dance group, and she established her own dance studio, Killa Studios. In 2023, she and KillaQueen competed on Street Woman Fighter 2, ending up in third place by the end of the show. Everyone already knew Sienna before, but everyone really knew her now.

And all of this made her dating "scandal" with Kaleina even crazier.

Throughout all of this, Kaleina is still promoting with KRUSH. She refuses to go on hiatus, but it's kind of clear that she doesn't want to interact with a lot of GGBs right now. During award show season, she's clearly fidgety and uncomfortable, a clear contrast in comparison to 2019 and prior. On stage, though, she's as "Kaleina" as ever. She gives some of her best performances of the year, but that's because that's her job. She kind of has to perform well.

Netizens are petitioning for Kaleina and even KRUSH as a whole to be blacklisted if she isn't removed from the group. They're sending letter after letter to broadcast stations, and reportedly (according to Dispatch), said stations are emailing BigHit and asking them to place Kaleina on hiatus until the entire thing blows over. Obviously, their suggestions go unheeded, and Kaleina remains with KRUSH for the rest of the year.

You're probably wondering: where was Sienna in all of this? Well, after getting dragged through the mud herself, she stopped posting earlier in the year, shortly after the situation escalated. She disabled her own Instagram comments, which was seen as some sort of "admission," but everyone already kind of... knew, and I would disable my comments too if I had a bunch of homophobes and freaks harassing me and my girlfriend and constantly trying to pry into our private lives.

However, in November, Sienna would finally break her silence in her first post in seven months. A rather lengthy statement, it read:

"Hi, everyone. Long time no see, right? First off, I want to apologize for being gone for so long. As you all probably know, it's been a tumultuous last couple of months. Although I would like to go into detail about how all of this has affected me, the purpose of this letter to you all is not to highlight me. Over the last few months, I've seen many of you wonder where I've been and why I haven't been publicly defending Kaleina. For one (and I have gotten permission to say this), she had advised me not to come out and say anything, as she feared that the harassment she'd been receiving would be directed at me. Recently, though, since she's turned off her comments and has been limiting her time online, she's allowed me to speak for her in a way. As of now, Kaleina is okay for the most part. She's been focusing mostly on promoting with the rest of KRUSH, since the girls are currently on tour, as many of you might know. However, her anxiety has also worsened since this year began, and it's become harder and harder for her to complete performances. Clearly, this is because of the relentless malice that's been directed at her over the last two years. To whoever's been participating in the hate train leveled against her, I kindly ask you to stop. Calling for her removal from KRUSH and harassing her because she is trying to be her authentic self gets you nowhere. It will not get you a better job, nor will it make you feel like a better person. Like her family, her members, and the staff at BigHit, I've seen the toll this has taken on Kaleina. It's not cute, so please, cut it out. As for me, I'm fine. I won't go into detail on my mental state since I'm clearly not the one in the public eye in comparison to Kaleina, but what I will say is that this situation has made me significantly unhappier and much more stressed out. It has also affected Kaleina and I's friendship in ways that are distressing to the both of us. I wish that I could wake up tomorrow and all of this will be over, but unfortunately, nothing's ever that easy. I want to end this very, very long letter by saying that I love you, my aegi-deul, so much. Even though I wont be posting as often for a multitude of reasons, that doesn't mean I suddenly hate any of you. Like the past few months, I just need to take a bit more time away. Plus, you can still find me on YGX's channel, so don't worry too much. This has gotten incredibly long, so I'll end it here. Like I said, I love you so much, and once again, please find it in your heart to give Kaleina some grace and leave her be. It'll be better for all of us. Notably, Sienna's comments were no longer disabled, but limited, and back then, a lot of people were wondering what made her "change her mind." But that's not what's important right now. In response to Sienna's statement, GGBs got "#ThankYouSienna" to the top of the trending page, along with "#WeLoveYouKaleina." In a staggering display of love that Kaleina hadn't felt since 2019, the latter would trend practically nonstop for the next few months, and it really did look like things were actually starting to simmer down this time.

So 2021 drew to a close, and in came 2022. At the start of January, Kaleina suddenly re-enabled her comments, although like Sienna, not just anyone was allowed to camp under her Instagram. But, some progress was better than no progress.

And then, it happened.

On January 12th, 2022, BigHit released the statement that shook the industry to its core. In the big year of 2022, saying that something like this was "unprecedented" was honestly sad, but it really was. This was truly a first.

"Hello, this is BigHit Music. After careful deliberation and extensive communication with our artist, Kaleina, she has allowed us to publicly confirm her relationship with Sienna Yoon. After getting to know each other after the last few years, Kaleina and Ms. Yoon have been seeing each other romantically for a while now. We will not disclose much else on our artist's personal life, and we kindly ask you to not try and find out yourselves. Any breaches of privacy will be considered criminal, and you will be prosecuted as such. We, BigHit Music, and Kaleina sincerely ask you for your utmost respect, kindness, and understanding going forward. Thank you."

Needless to say, the reactions to this were insane. Tweet after tweet, news article after news article... this was at the forefront of every K-pop stan's mind for weeks. It had taken over Twitter timelines like the bubonic plague. But, surprisingly, unlike 2019, reactions were a lot more... tame.

Now, people were praising Kaleina and Sienna for being so open about their relationship, lauding Kaleina's choice to go public. One of the industry's biggest stars acknowledging her relationship? Crazy. Said star acknowledging her same sex relationship? Batshit.

A week later, Kaleina would take to Weverse with a statement of her own. For the first time in nearly a year, she had broken her silence. It was cause for celebration.

"Hello everyone. Kaleina here. I know, I've been sort of 'gone' for a long time. I apologize for that. It's been one terrible year, but I don't need to tell you all that for you to know. Anyways, a week ago, my company announced my relationship with Seoyeon. I've seen the reactions, and I thank God that most of them have been positive. I'll admit, During the conversations with BigHit, I was terrified. There were multiple times where I almost backed out, mainly because of the reactions I witnessed following our Los Angeles concert three years ago. But then, I realized something. The reason I came out in 2019 was because I didn't want to have to hide. People like me have been told our entire lives that our identities are things to be ashamed of. That we 'don't have to make it a big deal.' But that's exactly why we have to make it a 'big deal,' especially since I'm an idol. I don't want to put on a mask or live in a lie simply because I'm a celebrity. I want to live my authentic self to the best of my ability. I came out back then because I didn't care what others thought of me. Why should I care now? Of course, some of the reactions I saw back then nearly scared me back into submission. There was a reason I went on my brief hiatus back during our promos for Test Drive, and there's a reason why I didn't bring it up as often afterwards. But, now, since I'm three years older, I'm choosing to focus on the people that support and appreciate me. My teammates, my friends, my family, and of course, my girlfriend. If you don't like me, that's fine. But all I ask is that you respect me. But if you can't do that either, then you don't have to force yourself to support my group. One thing's for certain, though. I won't leave KRUSH because a few of our so-called fans refuse to accept me for me. I won't desert the girls I've trained for years with, I won't pretend to be someone I'm not, and I won't break up with Seoyeon. There's no changing my mind. To the GGBs who have supported me nonstop for three years, I can't even begin to express how thankful I am. You have made me feel so loved, even on days where I felt like the entire world was against me. You fought for me when I couldn't fight for myself. You tried your hardest to shield me from the hate, and for that, I am eternally grateful. I love you all so, so much. To my teammates, my family, and my friends, thank you for standing by me. Thank you for validating my identity and constantly reassuring me that what I did wasn't a mistake. Thank you for being there when I needed you and being my shoulder to cry on when this leader couldn't take it anymore. Everyone goes through tough times, but you put your struggles aside to help me get through mine. I'm crying all over again just thinking about it. And finally, to Seoyeon. To my wonderful girlfriend who I love so dearly. These last few years with you have been some of my best, even though I cried more often than I would've liked. Even though all of this made us go through a pretty rough patch, you've stood by me every step of the way, and you were there when I wanted nothing more than to just disappear. You're the greatest girlfriend I could've ever asked for, and now, you're still here while I'm staring millions in the face and telling them that I don't care anymore. You've gotten me to this point. I love you. I love you, I love you, I love you. I can say it a million times, to be honest. This is getting very long and very corny, so I just want to say thank you again. You all's boundless love for me has gotten me through this mess. Don't worry, a happier, stronger Kaleina will be back soon. Happy new year, by the way. Once again, thank you and I love you. Immediately following her statement, Kaleina took to Instagram, and surprisingly, with her comments turned back on. She would post what is probably the cutest picture ever to her story, but what was even cuter? Sienna would respond.

Sienna responded to Kaleina's story just four minutes later, pretty much softlaunching their relationship to the world. Eagle-eyed GGBs took to noticing that the picture Sienna took was from some sort of vacation, most likely the one that Kaleina mentioned a year prior. And if you looked even closer, their new profile pictures were from the same vacation.

In the days following this, antis were quick to "push back," still petitioning for Kaleina's removal from KRUSH and still saying she was prioritizing her relationship over her group. They even started protesting outside HYBE's building. However, these protests were quickly shut down, and the Twitter thinkpieces were either ignored, criticized to hell, or reported.

Antis would try to keep going, spamming hate all down Kaleina's Instagram comments and trending "#KaleinaYouBetrayedUs" for days on end. What they failed to realize is that it wasn't 2019 anymore, and with KRUSH's much larger fanbase, all of that mess was quickly drowned out by much more positive comments/trends. Even into February, "#KaleinaWeLoveYou" and "#KRUSH_Is_4" occupied the first two spots on the trending page, and her comment sections from her Twitter posts to her Instagram to her Weverse updates were spammed with red hearts. It all came to a head during a live where GGBs spammed "we love you Kaleina" and those same red hearts all down the chat. The sheer outpouring of love brought Kaleina to tears.

By February, BigHit kicked the lawsuits up a notch. The accounts that been organizing protests, camping under Kaleina's posts, or just being straight up homophobic on Twitter dot com were all hit with a lawsuit of their own, and within the next few days, they were all gone. If it wasn't clear that BigHit was serious, it was clear now. Eventually, the 3-year-long hate train finally slowed to a stop.

In July, right after the release of Juicy, Kaleina and Sienna were seen outside of Music Core holding hands. Surprisingly, the fans there were all for it, and one of them even asked them to kiss. They didn't do that (unfortunately), but it was a far cry from the mess that was 2021.

And as for those antis? Well, no one really hears from them anymore. Guess it's hard to hate on someone who refuses to respond.

So, where are we at now? Well, aside from Kaleina and Sienna's sudden breakup during the Bad News era and the former's very brief relationship with a certain someone (which is a whole other can of worms), they've never been better.

In 2023, right after they got back together, Kaleina began showing up on Sienna's YouTube channel a lot more often. That same year, she was a guest on Street Woman Fighter 2. By early 2024, Koreaboo reported that the two had bought an apartment together in Hannam, and were living with Sienna's two cats and Kaleina's dog, Kyung-ah. And just last month, they launched their very own YouTube channel together, SeoKyung. There, they look like the blissful, homey couple they've always wanted to be, rather than two celebrities that just finished going through hell. Needless to say, it was a welcome surprise for Sienna and Kaleina's fans alike.

Moral of the story? Well, being a hateful freak isn't cute. If you spend most of your time screaming and crying because someone else is living their life, you should probably go find a hobby.

I can't believe this still needs to be said (and I hope Sienna proposes).

March 14th. The day Asia's very own Paris Hilton first graced the world with her presence. Now, twenty-six years later, she's celebrating her birthday with the pinkest party on the planet. Held smack dab in the middle of the North American leg of her tour and on the rooftop of her 740 Park Avenue penthouse, despite it only being her 26th birthday party and paling in comparison to her 25th (her words, not mine!), it was still a party for the ages. Everyone who was anyone was invited, ranging from Chouka's fellow idols to socialites and rich kids to her influencer friends. Her party was the topic of conversation for the next week, with pictures flooding celebrities' Instagram pages and fan accounts on Twitter for days.

Inspired by Gossip Girl but with a very pink twist (because Chouka's obsessed with the show again), and because this is a party for Chouka, it was as opulent and indulgent as any party she's thrown. With flower arrangements that supposedly cost $20 per flower (that might be a rumor, but knowing Chouka, who knows), macarons piled nearly to the ceiling, and an open bar, the average person would've killed to be a fly on the wall. And on top of all of that, the birthday girl couldn't help but throw a bit of mess into it.

We'll see how the party went down for its guests later on, but how did the belle of the ball herself enjoy it? Well, let's see!

First things first, the invitations.

Chouka kept it classic by sending pink envelopes stamped with a gold (surprisingly not pink) seal to her guests, with the attendee's name written front and center in gold ink, a charmingly extra "Mademoiselle/Monsieur" tacked on for good measure. If said attendee happened to be in a group, then every member got their own invitation. Chouka's generous like that.

What did the invites say, exactly?

"Hello, Upper East Siders. Word on the street is that you're invited to the party of the year. Our very own Love Aikawa is turning 26 this Friday, and she wants you to join her for a night that will go down in history. You wouldn't want to miss it. Now wouldn't that be quite the social faux pas. You know you love me. XOXO, Gossip Girl."

But, that wasn't all. Paired with the physical invites that were sent, Chouka also sent out invitations in the form of text messages. Well, more literally, in the form of a classic Gossip Girl blast, reading, "Rumor has it that Chouka Aikawa is throwing a birthday bash that'll rival Blair Waldorf's. It's not open invite (regrettably so), but the lucky few that do receive a pink envelope in their mailboxes will hit 740 Park Avenue head to toe in, well, pink (hopefully). We have no doubt in our minds that March 14th will be a night to remember. Chouka always knows how to throw a good party. Happy early birthday, C. We hope you enjoy it. XOXO, Gossip Girl."

Iconic already, and the party hadn't even started yet.

So, what was on the menu at the 26th birthday party to end all 26th birthday parties?

The bougiest food you can imagine, that's what!

Chouka has always been one for hors d'oeuvres at the parties she throws, especially since guests have to have room for the massive birthday cake she always has. Plus, the sit-down dinner is usually reserved for her family, so... Aside from that, being the daughter of a billionaire, of course she had the most expensive shit you could ever put in your mouth.

Starting with the drinks, she had champagne for days (Cristal only, everyone drinks Dom Perignon–in her social circle, that is). Enough of it to fill the Atlantic Ocean. Not only did she have some floating around in a bowl full of rose-shaped ice, but she also had some stocked up in her kitchen. She was never going to run out, that's for sure. In addition to that, she also had champagne on her dessert table, topped with tufts of pink cotton candy. A very "Chouka" spin on a regular glass of champagne. Guests could also toss a strawberry in there for good measure, because of course they could.

Speaking of the aforementioned open bar (which was just sitting in her massive living room), drinks were being made all night, and almost all of them were pink. Yes, really. She had pink cocktails with edible glitter in them, pink cocktails with lipstick kisses floating on top, and pink salt around the rims of some of the glasses. Of course, not everyone had to drink a pink cocktail. In fact, not everyone had to drink a cocktail at all. Not everything was alcohol.

The drinks were mostly being passed around by her house staff, like the hors d'oeuvres mentioned earlier. Now, what was being served, exactly? Miniature lobster rolls (it was on the East Coast, after all), blinis topped with everything from smoked salmon to shrimp to caviar and creme fraiche (yes, caviar–Chouka always has it at her birthday parties), shrimp cocktails, and of course, canapes (she really loves these). She also had fruit in little cups being passed around because fruit is simple and classic and not everyone enjoys seafood or ridiculously expensive appetizers.

Onto the best part, the dessert table! That table was the centerpiece of Chouka's party, and, as you might've guessed, everything was pink. Of course, she had the aforementioned macaron towers (all of them were from Laduree), but she also had cupcakes topped with strawberries and pink chocolate decorations stamped with her initials (C.A.–who else?), chocolate-covered strawberries dusted with glitter (and the chocolate was, yes, pink), cake pops, and petit fours. She also had a pink chocolate fountain. It wasn't as large as the one at her 25th, but of course she had one.

And what's dessert without a birthday cake? Like mentioned earlier, since Chouka is, well, Chouka, her cake was huge.

Topped with twenty-six individual candles, once they were lit, it was enough light to illuminate New York City in its entirety. Of course, Chouka's cake was also various shades of pink and covered in rosettes made of frosting. "Chouka-core" in every sense of the word.

Also, take this picture and imagine it two times larger. That's how big her cake was.

Now, let's get to the good stuff. What was the industry's resident fashion icon wearing that night?

Well, in typical Chouka fashion, she picked through the archives of the world's greatest designers. Namely, Dior. Dressed in pink (of course–it was the night's dress code, after all), she got her hands on a 2000s era piece from Dior's archive–of which was worn by one of her favorite supermodels, Gisele Bundchen.

She wore a pair of vintage Jimmy Choo heels from right out of her own (massive) closet, and despite the fact that she was wearing someone's rent, Chouka kept her ever recognizable ruby engagement ring in her room... for obvious reasons. She couldn't have it flying off in the middle of the night.

Of course, her husband–Jason–was matching with her, something the two had been doing since the moment they started dating. He kept it rather simple, not wanting to outshine his wife, of course, wearing a pink button down (with the sleeves rolled up and the first few buttons left undone) and a pair of black pants. He still looked hot despite his simple attire, because why wouldn't he? This is Jason we're talking about!

With so many high profile stars pulling up to one of the most exclusive streets in NYC, it was inevitable that the paparazzi was going to be tipped off eventually. About an hour into the guests' arrivals, cameras were stationed outside the entrance to Chouka's apartment building, waiting to catch a glimpse of another pink-clad star entering through the doors of 740 Park Avenue. So who were some of the stars in question? Ranging from all four members of KRUSH and Japan's very own pop icon, Kaori Takahashi to legendary soloist Lee Jang-mi to top idols such as Jennie of BLACKPINK, Chungha, and Nayeon and Jihyo of TWICE to iconic celebs/influencers such as Bella Hadid, Emma Chamberlain, and Paris Hilton.

This isn't a "best moments" section without mentioning how cute Chouka and Jason were. They were dancing the night away on the dance floor, and even though Jason couldn't bring one of his HD cameras to capture his wife's big day, he was getting as many good pictures as he possibly could with just his iPhone. On top of that, he also gave the sweetest speech about her right before she blew out her candles. Additionally, Chouka's parents were also there, and she shared a dance with both of them.

Speaking of dancing, this was probably the most anyone's seen Chouka let her hair down (this and her 25th birthday, of course). She was on the dance floor almost all night, and if she wasn't, she was mingling with her guests. At some point, she pulled her hair into a ponytail and kept going. For someone who's usually so poised, she can be such a party girl!

Now, we have to mention the photo booth. Yes, there was a photo booth. This gave guests ample opportunities to interact, and gave their fans ample content of said interactions. Chouka herself was being pulled into the booth every five minutes, because of course, everyone wanted a photo with the birthday girl. The booth itself was pink and had accessories such as masquerade masks, plastic champagne flutes, hand fans, tiaras and feather boas. The first two were references to Gossip Girl, while the latter three were references to her album, Sincerely. We love a girl who knows how to market.

And, finally, we have to mention the games. All based off of Gossip Girl, the first one began as soon as guests walked through the door. The basic premise was that guests were told a piece of gossip about another guest (or about Chouka herself), and they gradually had to reveal it over the course of the night. If it made it to the subject before the night was over, though, then the guest who initially received that piece of information would be out. Don't worry, the "gossip" in question wasn't real. It was entirely fake, entirely harmless, and all of it was references to the show. The second was a less convoluted "guessing game," where guests would gather around as Chouka read questions related to Gossip Girl off a pile of pink cards. And the last one? Well, it wasn't a game, per se, but it was definitely quite messy.

Stationed at the front door was a "gossip box," where guests could write a piece of real gossip about anyone they chose on (pink) notecards, fold it up, and slip it into the box. Now, there were two rules. One–it couldn't be too damning or too bitchy, and two–guests had to sign off their cards with the ever iconic "XOXO, Gossip Girl." Guests didn't have to write anything if they didn't want to, but it was a way for the ones who did to "spill their guts" in a way. Chouka kept them safe and sound, and she didn't end up reading any of them. She might be quite the gossip herself, but she isn't evil. She might end up burning them by Saturday, anyways.

So, that was the iconic night that was March 14th, 2025. Guests from all over the globe flew into New York City just to wish Chouka a happy birthday, and maybe have a drink or two. Idols, influencers... am I forgetting anyone? Oh, yes, I am! You!

When Jin met Noriel, they immediately warmed up to each other and were quick to become friends. She loves his jokes and puns and genuinely finds him funny. He thinks of her as his little sister and strives to take care of her. After he found out about her allergies, he along with the rest of the older members, he became very careful and watchful of food when it came to her. They love to cook together and she helped teach him the vegan alternatives to their recipes. They both took on the role of the main cooks for the group.

Together they make up WWH and WWB.

When they spend time together, they are playing video games, fishing, or cooking together.

It took a while for Yoongi and Noriel to get close. Yoongi is not one to show his emotions a lot and came off as cold to Noriel. On the other hand, Noriel is like a golden retriever and had too much energy for him. He thought she was just there to play games and make friends, so he tended to ignore her and casted her off as an airhead. It wasn't until after he saw how far she was pushing herself that he started to let her in. After Yoongi started opening up to her, she started softening up towards him as well. Nowadays, they are the closest pair of the group

When they spend time together, they are creating music, playing basketball, or taking cat naps.

Hoseok is the first person of BTS that Noriel met. She was practicing in one of the open dance rooms when they met. He was really impressed by her talent and, as time went on, her passion for dancing. Hobi was her first friend in Korea and she attached herself to him the minute he showed her kindness. Hoseok is her favorite person to ever exist and she will gladly throw hands to defend him. Hoseok adores Noriel and thinks of her as one of his best friends. They love to spend time together and love to make the people around them happy. They are each others biggest supporters and are the sunshines of the group.

When they spend time together, it is normally goofing off in the dance rooms and creating music together.

Namjoon is the member who Noriel thinks of as a superhuman. She thinks it is impossible to be as smart and as talented as Namjoon is. She really respects him and wishes to be half as cool as he is. He tries so hard to get her to just sit still and relax. It never works out for him. He was really happy to have another person to speak English to and they study together when they have Western interviews coming up. Namjoon is her biggest defender when it comes to the people who hate her due to not being fully Korean, or being too tan. Noriel looks up to Namjoon and always names him as one of her role models.

When they spend time together, they love going on bike rides and shopping for books.

✧✧✧ JIMIN ✧✧✧

When Jimin met Noriel, they instantly clicked. They both gushed over each other's talent and were happy to start practicing together. They are the flirty and dirty minded members of the group. They seem to hold a competition where they try to get the other one to get flustered first (Noriel always wins). When Jimin goes through a hard time when it comes to food and his weight, she made sure to cook healthy meals for him but does not nag him. She shows him that she cares silently and he appreciates her care. Jimin is always there for her when she's going through a hard time. He is one of her biggest supporters and is always happy to see her being accepted as a member of BTS.

When they spend time together, they love to dance with each other, go out to eat, and just hang around chilling with each other.

Taehyung and Noriel were both hidden members with each other. So while the other members got to make vlogs and post them online, Tae and Nori also created vlogs to feel included and spent a lot of time with each other filming. While they don't have much in common when it comes to personality, they both got along very well with each other. She views him as a close friend adores being around him as he brings her joy and happiness with just his presence. Tae looks up to Noriel for her perseverance and loves the energy she radiates. When Taehyung is being funny or out there, Noriel just joins him to cause more mayhem.

When they spend time together, they tend to visit amusement parks, zoo, or aquariums.

✧✧✧ JUNGKOOK ✧✧✧

It took a while for these two to get along with each other. Noriel thought that he avoided her because he didn't like her and Jungkook avoided her because she made him nervous. They started getting closer when they saw how much they had in common. Jungkook and Noriel are very similar to each other. Both are competitive, hardworking, and playful. They both love dancing, singing, and playing sports. They tend to be referred to as "The Twins" due to sharing a birthday and how much they have in common. They are both very protective of each other and will do anything to keep the other from pain.

When they spend time together, it is either doing some kind of athletic activity, playing video games, or singing karaoke together.

Marie En Odeur is a customized limited edition perfume line made for Antoinette and Chéri alike in 2023, inspired by the member's signature scents and favorite sweet treats. As of now, the line only has three scents- Pink Ribbon, Cherí Top, and Vanilla in the Air. Within the fandom, owning a Marie En Odeur is viewed as a luxury considering they immediately sell out in minutes of being released throughout the globe.

The idea was proposed by leader Grace who fans often thought she smelled like cake during contact meet-and-greets because of her perfume. She brought it to COO Yoon-hee who thought it was a brilliant idea.

Author's Note: Hey! I wrote this story back in 2016 on some fanfic websites and am bringing it back as I edit the chapters. I wanted to put my perspective and imagination on what if BTS had a black girl in their group from America. This'll be a long story starting from their debut so enjoy the ride!

I have so many chapters already written. I had stopped in the story around late 2016 before the MAMA Awards. As I wrote this story over the years I wanted this character to be relatable and grow as a performer as well as go through hardships. It'll be a slow start but it will get better as the chapters go on, I hope you give it a chance.

It's late 2017. BigHit hasn't had a girl group since Glam crashed and burned in 2014. Their biggest group, BTS, has just exploded in popularity, and TXT isn't even a concept yet. With BTS' meteoric rise and the fact that their label hasn't accepted female trainees in nearly half a decade, it's unlikely that BigHit would pour their time and resources into something they haven't done in years. However, just a year prior, they were subtly communicating a different story.

Two female trainees were sent onto Produce 101 in 2015 and took the show by storm for multiple reasons. For one, said trainees were under BigHit. Aside from their stellar talents and the fact that one of them was related to a Girls' Generation member, it was clear that something was going on behind the scenes.

A year goes by. BigHit is pretty much radio silent. Then, October 2017 rolls around, and KRUSH makes their (unexpected) debut. Surprise, surprise. They're a girl group.

And they're a damn good one.

KRUSH would make their explosive debut with the iconic "CLASSY," off the EP that started it all, CRUSHIN' IT. Their debut was huge, which was nothing short of impressive due to the fact that they had pretty much zero teasers, aside from the launch of their official website and social media. The album sold a staggering 420,000 copies within its first week—a feat that other girl groups have yet to achieve themselves. A couple days later, all 7,500 seats at their debut showcase (held at the Hanyang University Gymnasium) were completely sold out.

CRUSHIN' IT shot to #2 on every major Korean music chart, and since KRUSH debuted at just the right time, they broke into the Billboard 200 with a placement of sixty-six, proving how much international appeal they had already. The girls secured their first win within a week of their debut, and by the end of their promotional cycle a month later, they had won a total of four trophies. To commemorate their (more than) successful debut, the girls posted a picture of them all posing with their wins, with each girl holding her own individual trophy. Probably because of Kaleina, GGBs immediately took to comparing the picture to SNSD's ever-iconic "trophy photo" for "Gee," lauding how they managed to get their "SoShi moment" immediately after their debut. The fandom still talks about it, by the way.

"CLASSY" itself remains a staple part of KRUSH's discography and their overall identity. During its release, it was lauded as one of the best debuts of 2017, and it has gone down as one of the strongest the industry's ever seen. Iconic, indeed.

Some of the stage outfits seen during the CRUSHIN' IT era. When publications talk about KRUSH's impact and international appeal, they always talk about their fashion. The outfits were already so good, and they only had one EP under their belt. By November 2017, Vogue was already talking about them. Oh, they were gonna be so big.

Like mentioned earlier, promotions for CRUSHIN' IT lasted a month. During that time, the girls had critically acclaimed and instantly iconic performances at the American Music Awards and at the Mnet Asian Music Awards. Both of their appearances were a surprise considering they were only a month-old group, but their appearance at the AMAs was definitely a surprise. Their new legion of fans were delighted to see them getting Western promotion so early on, using that as proof of their destined stardom, but... others decided to use that as an opportunity to become KRUSH's first antis. Ranging from nepotism baby allegations, to the whole "Glam clone" and BLACKPINK comparison thing, to netizens calling their concept "unoriginal," to a certain subset of ARMYs claiming that the girls were leeching off of BTS' success... the whole thing was quite the mess. But at least it didn't get any bigger than that. For now.

And then, just two months later, KRUSH released their second EP, Illusion. They were already on their first comeback, and it had barely been eight weeks. Here's the start of KRUSH's lore, and as a result, this comeback became one of their most iconic ones—and it was only their first one. The album itself sold over 500,000 copies within its first week, upping the girls' first week sales by 80,000 copies. Its lead single, "PLAY MY GAME," topped Korean charts and won five music show awards.

The Illusion era was defined by its cheeky, sinister playfulness and almost horror-esque vibe, with the girls playing different nightmares (or spirits), all haunting the boy who broke their hearts. Critics and fans alike ate this concept up, with GGBs in particular aching to see the girls take the horror route again. Illusion topped charts in Korea yet again, but it also broke into the Billboard 200, securing an impressive fifty on the chart.

By the end of 2017, KRUSH saw award after award at end of the year award shows. Winning Best New Artist — Female at the Mnet Asian Music Awards, Best New Artist at the Melon Music Awards, and Rookie of the Year at the Golden Disc Awards, it was clear that this group of four girls wasn't going anywhere anytime soon. KRUSH's rise was definitely slow and steady, but they were still rising. And it would only get better from here.

Just a week following the New Year, KRUSH returned with their first and (so far) only repackage album, Re:Illusion. It's... largely been considered a "filler comeback," even by the girls themselves, only meant to act as a link between Illusion and their following comeback. Despite that, the music is good. With "Bewitched," KRUSH's concept became even more rooted in horror, becoming grittier and borderline haunting, which is exactly what GGBs wanted. The album did well commercially, selling over 400,000 copies and debuting at #4 on the charts. Regardless, Re:Illusion is still mostly forgotten by the general public and even by KRUSH themselves. No one thinks much of it nowadays (unfortunately).

Now, this is where things get good! In May, four months after the release of Re:Illusion, we got the album that changed everything, Through the Looking Glass. The girls' first full album, this era quickly cemented itself as one of the most iconic the industry has ever seen. With biblical references and references to films such as Black Swan (2010) sprinkled all throughout the MV for the lead single, this era was chocked full of lore, fully immersing GGBs into what was known from here on out as the "KRUSH-verse." To the surprise of everyone, this era was seemingly connected to the BTS Universe, and it gave KRUSH's fans a whole lot to speculate over.

One interesting thing about the album is that if you managed to pry throughout the physical copy enough, you could peek underneath the back end spot the numbers "18/20" written against a black background... although that would require you to basically force the back open. GGBs took to Twitter in droves once they found this out, with many guessing that it was a date or "2018" backwards. It was neither of those, of course, but they were hints to the girls' next two albums.

The TTLG era saw the highest commercial success of KRUSH's career at the time, garnering them the much needed international appeal that they had gotten a taste of the year prior. A massive jump from their previous album, TTLG peaked at a staggering #19 on the Billboard 200, their highest chart placement to date. What's more surprising, though, is that the album sold over a million copies within its first month. KRUSH were officially million sellers.

That wasn't all, though. The lead single, "Venus," was the girls' first entrance into the Billboard Hot 100, debuting at eighty-eight. It won a total of ten music show wins, garnering KRUSH their first ever triple crown, while its B-side, "Mirror Mirror," won a total of six wins. Not only were they million sellers, but they were no longer rookies, either. A truly iconic era.

The styling was marked by the girls primarily being seen in matching costumes, which was different in comparison to their first three eras, sans Illusion. The only time they didn't match was during their performance on Good Morning America. Said performance also started the "Kaleina gets special treatment" rumors.

By the way, the butterflies seen throughout the era (such as on the album cover), despite the fact that the title of the album itself is a reference to Alice in Wonderland? Those are meant to represent "rebirth" and "new beginnings," and they were entirely intentional. They'll make a lot more sense later.

Finally, we get to the closing act of 2018. KRUSH's second full album and their most theatrical album to date, Festival. This comeback started KRUSH's trend of iconic fall comebacks and became an integral part of the girls' lore. The concept of Festival was more rooted in thriller rather than straight up horror, offering hauntingly charming music videos, music videos shot like movies, and the narrative-driven thriller concept that GGBs had been begging for. Of course, this comeback was a resounding success, albeit less than TTLG. Selling 970,000 copies within its first week and a staggering 1.4 million within its first month, Festival became KRUSH's fourth number one album. The girls saw an even higher placement on the BB200, securing a #14 upon debut.

The album's lead single, "Psycho," was yet another smash hit for the girls, topping every major Korean music chart (as always) and scoring a placement of seventy-nine on the Billboard Hot 100. Winning eleven music show wins, it was the highest-awarded KRUSH single at that point. Its B-side, "Four Strikes to Midnight," won three.

Picking up where TTLG left off, the physical copies of Festival also had something hidden. On the back of a select photocard (which could be of any member) would be a QR code which, when scanned, would lead to a website. Said website would be nothing but a black screen though, with text reading "10/31/20." Now this was definitely a date. One two years into the future, though. GGBs had to take to social media again, constantly speculating on what it could mean. However, since the "QR code photocards" were so rare, only a handful of people caught it, and they now sell for extremely high prices online.

The rumors that Kaleina was getting better outfits than the rest of the girls were still going, but clearly, none of them were actually true. Compilation videos with so-called "evidence" got millions of views, though.

At the end of the year, KRUSH was even more popular than they were during their debut. They nearly swept awards by the end of 2018, winning Best Female Artist, Song of the Year for "Venus," and Best Dance Performance (also for "Venus") at that year's MAMAs. They also won the Digital Song Bonsang for "Psycho" and the Album Bonsang for TTLG at the Golden Disc Awards, the Best Dance Award (Female) at the Melon Music Awards, and were even nominated for Album of the Year at the GDAs. Like with "CLASSY," Billboard listed both "Venus" and "Psycho" as one of their best K-pop songs of 2018, and they were even mentioned by the Recording Academy. But, like always, it was only up from here.

ÆNGELS OF THE SEASON 계절의 천사들 is the pre-debut project created in 2018 to introduce the concept and the members of MIGHTY DEVIL’s newest female trio, hiræth 히라스. this ambitious but unique project consisted of three individual and lore-heavy films, two unique tracks from each member, photo exhibitions, small theater shows, and limited edition merchandise leading up to the group's official debut.

this project not only introduced the members’ styles and visuals to the public, but also emphasized their unique identities and sound through individual films that gained attention due to their distinct and eerie plotlines. each member was revealed under a seasonal full moon before debuting as a full group of three under the full moon of the autumn season. this approach started on JANUARY 3 and continued until the group's official debut on OCTOBER 24 of the same year, gaining significant attention domestically, charting on digital platforms despite being mere debuts, and earning a solid and loyal fanbase of angels who became fascinated by the lore behind their concept, as it seemed the members were luring the listeners to join their "cult" of self-acceptance, love and anger through the feeling of hiraeth.

initially planned as a group of four, former member and leader NARI was removed near the end of summer when her true nature as a bully was revealed to the public. her removal led to her complete disappearance from the industry, and neither the members nor their label have mentioned her since.

despite not participating in any music shows for undisclosed reasons during the period of their debuts, promotions included content such as performance videos, small theater concerts that were sold out within hours, and photo exhibitions set in gangnam-gu, seoul, along with limited edition merchandise and photobooks.

hiræth made their official, and very awaited debut with their successful and critically acclaimed promotional single FULL BLOOM on OCTOBER 24, earning them their first win as a group, the title of MONSTER ROOKIES, accolades and victories from prestigious award shows and critics.

LOOP? you think you are no longer inexperienced and innocent, so you strangle your old self and lay them to rest in a pretty casket, dressed in a white and pristine gown. you hold a personal funeral for your old self every single day, repeatedly closing the casket whenever they awaken to your smiling self. one day, you gaze down at your smiling and innocent self surrounded by beautiful flowers and daisies, and you were devastated. why won’t you just leave yourself alone?

FORBIDDEN FRUIT? your forbidden fruit is the strawberry, something you didn’t realize until you took the first bite in the comfort of your bedroom, away from anyone's eyes. you were upset when you liked it, but also confused. why did you eat it? would it be silly to say that the seashell told you to do it?

AM I PERFECT? someone who calls themselves as the palace’s headmaster wants to see you perform. you are not perfect, but you’re enough. now do it, again.

PRINCIPLE? you are enjoying your time here, but you can only hope this is not everything that is. you want more.

MY COLOR? your color is green, only displayed in the skirt of your uniform, but you find comfort in the color blue as you learn more about yourself.

ANGELS? none that you remember. you didn’t see the face of the angel that was being scolded by the headmaster... and there’s something telling you to meet one on the rooftop of the palace.

WHAT DO I CONVEY? you are happy and excited. you are warm despite being being born in winter. you mean well. but you are also scared. you are cold, you are cruel, but you are trying your best.

END CREDIT? you are wearing white when opening the entrance door of what you call home to walk into the dark. you are opening up to darkness despite your pristine persona, because there’s more to celestia, it seems.

★ . THE NOTES

yvan wasn't open about their identity yet, so they were referred to as she/her.

their debut was very well received and celebrated, but there were some critics stating that the songs chosen for their debut didn't do them justice as someone known as a powerhouse vocalist.

due to idols' fascination with covering this song, their b-side track BLUE NOSTALGIA continues going viral every now and then—a humorous twist since it was heavily criticized when it was first released.

they co-wrote GLASSY with fellow member kaia, who contributed to the songwriting for both tracks.

WINTER'S FILM was an energetic and very fun video to re-watch, but it wasn't until SPRING'S FILM was released that angels and netizens started noticing connections between the two. this is where theories began to emerge and WINTER'S FILM's views skyrocketed.

during one of their few theater shows, yvan was seen wearing a skin-colored patch across their arm, raising questions and concerns from fans. they claimed that they were simply covering up a tattoo, but years later, it was revealed they didn’t have a tattoo to begin with. this remains a mystery among angels.

MIGHTY DEVIL released the pre-order link to the limited physical albums of their debut when the ængels of the season era was just around the corner. yvan's single album was the third best-selling album from the ængels of the season series. since it was a limited release, these copies are now quite expensive.

WHO AM I? the angel of spring, born from a daisy under a sky with three moons in different phases. you are the personification of a perfect angel: disciplined, grounded, a believer in celestia’s doctrine, and bitter. does anyone know that “mother” personally stopped you from indefinitely cutting out of your perfect and beautiful loop to fall into temptation?

LOOP? you've been repeating the same actions over and over, and now that you're aware of it, it troubles you deeply. but what else could you do at this point? perhaps your life has always mirrored the ballerina trapped in the toy box by your window—an enigmatic presence that speaks to you when you're alone, much like listening to the cassette tape that evokes memories of a better time, one that may never have truly existed, so you keep rewinding and rewinding instead of moving forward.

FORBIDDEN FRUIT? your forbidden fruit is the apple, which you ate with delight when someone placed a shiny one on your plate during a fancy banquet dinner you attended. why did you eat it without feeling guilty? is it because a voice through your headphones reminded you of how good sin tasted? does that mean you've sinned before?

AM I PERFECT? the headmaster applauds every time you perform for her. you are perfect, yet you aren’t content. perhaps you never will be, so keep at it until you're much better.

PRINCIPLE? you are angry and bitter, but after all this time, you still believe in love.

MY COLOR? your color is blue, visible only in the skirt of your uniform and the ribbons in your hair. yet, it's the purple of the crocuses you tend in celestia's garden that truly makes you feel at home.

ANGELS? you don’t remember; you barely pay attention to anyone, instead reminiscing over things that may have never happened.

WHAT DO I CONVEY? you are grounded, tranquil and eerily quiet. you are also exhausted and bitter. you’ve accepted it, everything, but that doesn’t mean you’re content with your doctrine.

END CREDIT? you are on the palace rooftop, gazing up at the dark and moonless sky, reminiscing about the days when you could witness different moon phases back home. you aren’t even surprised when another angel, dressed in a dark green skirt, joins you up there.

★ . THE NOTES

her debut was very memorable due to the stark contrast of her title track against the girl crush craze prevalent at the time. to this day, everyone agrees that INVU is one of the strongest solo debuts in the industry.

poppy produced PLASTIC CANDY by herself and still refers to it as one of her best works to this day.

SPRING'S FILM was applauded for its beautiful and eerie plot, despite its dreamy and tranquil-like visuals. her acting and dancing also received high praise, attracting many choreographers to recreate the contemporary piece of the choreography. INVU recently has gone viral, leading to the creation of a tiktok dance for it by a popular influencer because the original choreography was never intended to be tiktok-friendly.

poppy wasn't the biggest fan of INVU, though, and this is something she revealed yeaaaaaars later when the song suddenly went viral.

poppy's single album was the second best-selling album from the ængels of the season series. since it was a limited release, these copies are now expensive.

WHO AM I? the angel of summer, born from a seashell under a sky with a crescent moon. you are what they call a rebel, always longing to go past the rules and see more outside the wall they've built around you. you have lost focus in celestia and are mostly interested in what lies beyond. is it because you believe and know you and others can do more than do the same thing over and over?

LOOP? you've embraced the loop for so long that you've grown bored of it, which has made you rebel and change aspects of yourself because, in the end, everything will go back to zero. but you don’t want to continue living that life, no?

FORBIDDEN FRUIT? your forbidden fruit is the watermelon, which you happily ate when it was presented to you. this is something you wanted and needed to do, just as you needed them to sin, too.

AM I PERFECT? the headmaster labels you as a lost cause. no matter how many times you perform for her, it’s never enough, and she makes you do it again until your body gives out. she has no idea you do everything perfectly when you're doing it on your own and for yourself, not for others.

PRINCIPLE? you have faith in escaping from celestia. you believe in creating a new world where you can define yourself without someone dictating how you should behave and live. but you couldn’t do it alone.

MY COLOR? your color is red, seen only in the skirt of your uniform and the faint crimson tint lingering in your hair. but why settle for red when you can be pink?

ANGELS? many, but only two catch your interest: one who peeks through the door when the headmaster scolds you, and another who pricks her finger with a thorn while both of you tend to the garden of celestia together. eventually, you find your way to talk to them.

WHAT DO I CONVEY? you're energetic and eager for more, which is both thrilling and daunting.

END CREDIT? your angels have listened to you, and now the three of you discuss your future, despite how scary it may seem.

kaia was credited for both of her songs as a songwriter and composer.

the title track BEAM BEAM was one of the most popular releases during its release period due to its quick-on-its-feet composition, which attracted many people who weren't yet aware of the project to give them a listen. some say the song missed the potential to showcase kaia as an exceptional rapper, but others enjoyed it for her charisma and vocals.

SUMMER'S FILM's gained widespread attention as fans began theorizing about its content, especially after realizing that it portrayed kaia as the one who had been tempting and leading yvan and poppy into rebellion against celestia through seashells and headphones. this newfound understanding led to a significant increase in views and discussions surrounding the film and the other's.

kaia's single album was the fourth best-selling album from the ængels of the season series. since it was a limited release, these copies are now very expensive.

ÆNGELS OF THE SEASON: HIRÆTH is the debut single album released on OCTOBER 24, 2018 as part of MIGHTY DEVIL’s project, ÆNGELS OF THE SEASON showcasing and debuting the highly anticipated female trio hiræth, consisting of the revealed members KAIA, POPPY, and YVAN. it was released on the first full moon of AUTUMN 2018 and includes four tracks: the title track, a promoted b-side, an intro, and an outro. it is considered one of the most impactful debuts by a rookie girl group.

you three were born representing different principles that the primal woman has: faith, love, and hope, but you didn’t know this until the angel in red told you. you three had to become one and create a new life once you’ve accepted said characteristics, both good and bad. but it was hard to accept that you weren’t as innocent as you thought you were, no?

you believe in yourself and in your dream, but faith without action is simply wishful thinking, and faith without hope is simply daydreaming. you needed poppy and kaia.

love is harsh and requires faith and hope to thrive. while love can endure cruelty, it can also be manipulated into evil. to flourish, love must be bolstered by faith and hope. you needed kaia and yvan.

there is nothing to hope for when one cannot find faith or determination– and love, both for others and for oneself. you needed kaia and poppy as much as they needed you.

anger, however, is what prevents them from fully trusting each other. they trust you, then they don’t, and the cycle repeats. this frustration intensifies within yourselves, reflecting on your "past" and the pressure to be flawless despite past mistakes. but beneath it all, this anger, opposing love, also complements it. anger is love unfulfilled; it is love misguided. it is passion.

and the truth is, they needed anger—they needed anger to yearn for them, for its fervor to guide them to the core of their entire existence: the oppression of celestia.

because you don’t need celestia. you don’t need heaven. you don’t need anyone trying to define you as someone you’re not. what you need is self-thought and self-love, and the only way to nurture that self-love is to reconcile with yourself, integrating every aspect of your being into one, even if that means giving into anger.

under the moonless sky of celestia, the three of you conjure a full moon by uniting your principles as one, discovering safety, comfort, and mystery in its glow as you flee the palace. venturing through dense woods, you set forth to explore a world beyond heaven and can only hope some will follow your lead to start all over, but on your own terms.

near the end of summer, a statement was released announcing nari's removal from the group due to allegations of bullying, leading to her sudden disappareance as an artist in the industry. to this day, no one knows what happened to her. their label later issued another statement, requesting that no one discuss the matter further, as they wished to continue hiraeth as it was. angels and knetizens respected the label's request, as they did not support nari's actions when evidence was being shared around by an anonymous twitter user.

the group revealed their name during a press conference before releasing their debut album. after introducing themselves, they talked about their excitement of their debut, their involvement in the album, their intricate concept, and also announced the name of their fandom.

While DEAR YOU is the track introducing you to their life in celestia, DEAR ANGEL is the one bidding it goodbye as they enter a new timeline and plane, but now on their own terms—hence the contrast between the two tracks. just imagine they say angels instead of cupids.

everyone thinks of them when someone mentions the title ROOKIE MONSTERS due to receiving many accolades and acclaim with this album alone. some angels even feared that nothing was going to ever top this project.

promotions were similar to their debut, but this time they performed on various music shows for five weeks, receiving their first win for FULL BLOOM and ten more wins, along with two triple crowns. additionally, their promoted bside, WHO AM I, won against their title track once.

the three of them were heavily involved in the tracks, with poppy gaining the most attention as the composer and the one speaking the lines of the intro DEAR YOU as everyone loved the little notes she came up with to introduce them as a group. to this day, these notes are still adored and brought up when talking about fun-produced songs. angels are still waiting for them to release the full version of it. poppy and kaia were also praised as composers of the outro.

and yes, everyone at ditto entertainment totally regretted losing them three. #EVERYONEPOINTANDLAUGH

in addition to their performances of the single album, their rendition of SNSD's INTO THE NEW WORLD at sbs gayo daejeon, aimed at reintroducing themselves to netizens and other idols, was one of the most talked-about moments of the era since their live vocals, angelic visuals, and chemistry on stage garnered significant attention, cementing their stay in the industry with a bright future ahead.

angels also theorized that their performance of that song was a way to introduce their angel personas to the idol world. everything is a theory to them smh.
