I really don't think Scar was trying to be coy when he asked "oh, what happened in 3rd Life?". I think he didn't understand how similar their current situation was to 3rd Life because the important pieces of it were different to him and Grian.

Scar thinks this is more of a deal to solidify that they are even now after both killing each other. He knows Grian feels bad and yes that is the original reason he asks for the mace, but by the time he's asking for friendship I think Grian's guilt has left him and he's just looking to end their fued.

Whereas Grian feels like he did Scar really dirty with that prank earlier. Upon Scar dying he immediately declares them even and then realizes pretty quickly how he just killed Scar. And if there is one thing to know about Grian, he hates a dirty kill. So, out of guilt he tries to give Scar an offer. And when Scar later also asks for friendship, he makes the connection.

That's why Grian draws the comparison to 3rd Life. He's placed his guilt of the situation to the forefront and Scar hasn't

I firmly believe that the Desert is one of Katara's strongest episodes as a character. But not because it portrays the rest of the Gaang as "worse" than her, eg how people will talk about her having to babysit "a blind girl, her high brother and Aang who is throwing a tantrum" and drag them out of a desert.

No, the Desert is wonderful because it shows us the Katara's unbreakable spirit and her resilient hope.

It gives us a wonderful look into Katara's psyche while she is under incredible duress. This episode is almost purely shown to us from Katara's perspective, and that was an excellent choice. Katara drives this episode.

We often associate hope with a more delicate, etheral feeling. But here, Katara exhibits a determined, powerful version of hope. A hope that spites a world that seems against her. A hope that Katara creates for herself, and for her companions.

Katara : [Grabs her head in annoyance.] Ugh ... We're getting out of this desert, and we're going to do it together! Aang, get up. Everybody, hold hands. We can do this. We have to.

We see Katara's focus on community, as she prioritises keeping the group together. Katara's more collectivist mindset keeps her focused on what matters to her: the group. Especially when the rest of the Gaang lose hope due to how dire their situation is.

Aang: What's anyone else doing?! [Pointing his staff at Katara.] What are you doing‌?! Katara : Trying to keep everyone together. Let's just get moving. We need to head this direction.

This episode doesn't exactly seek to frame Katara as more competent as the rest of the Gaang. It does something much more important. It shows us how deep her hope goes, how powerful her determination is, how strong her drive is. And that's why I adore it

Katara's character is strong enough to shine without putting down other characters, guys. It only draws our attention away from her strengths to the percieved flaws of the other characters.

i also dont hate how little was explained !!! like mikey and the meerkats or what happened to casey and april. we didnt really need exact history for it to make sense in the moment. but i dont think raph got enough explanation on his amnesia ?? its mentioned like. 2 or 3 times. did i miss something

i wish leo got a better design bc maximus kong is FUGLYYYYYY and easily tops mikey on Unpleasant Design. but mikey still makes me so sad. why can i count his teeth. why is he wearing underpants. get outtt man!!!!!!! and their designs dont need to be cute or pretty. leo is literally double mutated. i just wish she didnt LOOK LIKE THAT.

been playing around with the idea of mikey still being left alone in the beginning (obv with a much smaller chompy and ice cream kitty) and then finding some early meerkat village. they help him out maybe in contrast to previous groups being hostile and thats why they specifically get the map. they only way i can think of him getting the location and road markings is some form of astral projection?? like projecting to the oasis and making his way back to himself. but i dont think thats how it works. but who cares

i think bc of that mikey would also be a lot more familiar with meerkat culture and him n mira bond over it. anyway. yap over
