New Episode Alert: What is going on with SPN? A discussion about fandom spaces with Nicole, a real-life anthropologist
Got a really interesting one for you this week folks ('They're all interesting episodes, Kasey'. Excellent point voice in my head)
Okay, we've got something pretty different this week. A little while ago our lovely Sandra was interviewed as part of someone's dissertation research. A few of you probably remember Nicole, the lovely researcher who was in some fandom spaces learning about our crazy lil world.
Well her dissertation is finished now & she agreed to come have a chat with us about her process (heh), her findings and her experience.
If you love hearing Kasey trip over themselves with questions, then get frustrated at the lack of solid answers then this is the episode for you. (So many questions y'all. But no answers. I was going crazy)
But far more importantly, a really great look into our fandom ecosystem and how it all keeps working & balancing & growing. Absolutely fascinating stuff, give it a listen! Listen on Spotify Watch on Youtube:

We don't want to brag, but this might be our highest level episode of the podcast yet. Rings of Power 2x06 "Where is He?" still has us thinking of analysis we want to add. But it's good we can't, because this episode is almost 2 hours long! Discussion preview above, and time stamps below the cut.
As usual, we're talking most about Númenor. We examine the beautiful tension expressed between Eärien, Elendil, and Míriel, as well as the implications of the Sea Trial for our beloved Queen of the Sea. Kat also gives a detailed thematic read of "The Mariner's Wife" from The Unfinished Tales, connecting Aldarion and Erendis' story to the conflicts we're seeing in Númenor.
Then we gush about Disa and Durin. Wren gets super meta too, analyzing the big picture POV choices the writers are making, and introducing what she calls the "TROP as LeGuinian Tolkien" theory, discussing what Rings of Power understands about Frodo and Gollum.
Listen through for some slick beats and fresh takes, wherever you get your podcasts.

Part 3 Moving onto analyzing Michael and David during season 2 of GO.
@cloud-based-and-rainpilled provided the video!
Part 1 Part 2
youtube
The part where David asks Michael what Aziraphale's favorite thing about Crowley is, will be highlighted in red.
Timestamps: 0:16 - 0:48 | 0:56 - 1:18 | 2:04 - 3:05 | 3:25 - 4:00 | 4:33 - 4:51 | 5:52 - 6:27 | 6:57 - 7:20
This will be a long post.
-
-

0:16 - 0:24 1,2
They're sat in a similar way and move at the same/similar way. With their arms resting in the same way, chins up, then leaning forward. They're head is also tilting to in the same direction. A good indication that people get along and great to know if those people are happy in the relationship (whatever kind) at that moment.
When people spend a lot of time together and like one another, they tend to pick up certain mannerisms from the other. Way of sitting, ticks, doing the same motion at the same time, choice of words, etc. This is mirroring. They're also obviously very enthusiastic.

0:25 - 0:48 "Do you have a favourite episode from the new season, or moment/scene?"
DT answers - 3,4,5
David doesn't shy away from initiating and sustaining eye contact. He leans closer to Michael when he starts answering. They're super relaxed. Dropped shoulders, no tension in the face, lighthearted tone. Michael throws his head back, laughing, instead of down like he usually does. David is genuinely smiling (small eyes, corners up, teeth showing, cheek bones out) and looking at Michael a lot more.

MS answers - 6, 7
David waits and listens attentively. Leans his head a bit closer, stares off taking in what Michael is saying, and reacts to the conversation. He smiles when Michael laughs. Michael talks with his hands and smiles a lot, clearly comfortable enough to talk and express what he's saying.

2:04 - 2:40
"What do you think Aziraphale's favourite thing about Crowley is?"
MS answers - To read, David scoots closer to Michael, but Michael doesn't move away. When the question is asked, David crossed his left leg over his right and lays his left arm over it, then puts his right arm behind Michael. All his attention is on Michael and the rest can wait. He's blocking the outside, not out of uneasiness, but because all his focus is on Michael. He scoots up, turns his head to be able to see Michaels face clearly, and completely ignores anything outside of them.
His arm is touching Michael, leg and/or hand is touching Michaels leg, but David leaves space between his torso and Michaels arm, making not so overbearing. David is flirting/teasing Michael. The smile, seeking direct eye contact, crossing his legs to Michael, putting his arm behind Michael, and 'invading' personal space, all indicate flirtatious/teasing intentions.
Michaels turns, backs up, and shrugs his left shoulder in order to see David in the eye and show David what he's saying ('I can see myself in your eyes'). Michael is not backing out. They're both smiles and neither of them is uncomfortable with how close they are. When Michael puts his hand down (image 11) the space between his arm and David's torso becomes smaller, but again, neither of them pull back.

Content with the answer, David nods, smiles to the camera, adjusts his suit, and continues smiling as he turns to Michael, leaning into the chair and close to Michael. Adjusting the jacket could mean he really is just adjusting it, but with the smile at the camera and the faltering smile, makes me think he could have been on edge (nervous: 'what did I just do?') and calming himself down by putting a bit of distance. The next image if of him, smiling more proximately at Michael. Michael, is just staring at David with a smile. Just happy and amused at what happened.

2:16 - David goes back to how he was sitting. When Michael is answering, David's gets closer as he listens.

2:41 - 3:05
"What do you think Crowley's favourite things about Aziraphle is?"
David seeks out the eye contact. He's the one looking at Michael. In the previous interviews of season 1, he would stare off or look at the camera/interviewer but now, he tends to answer while staring at Michael. He has no problem with it.
"I like my yang, but I like it better when your yin is next to it." -MS 14,15 Michael looks to see David's reaction and is happy with it. David laughs, raises his eyebrows, and closes his eyes. The comment/image hit him by surprise. He doesn't have an unpleasant look on his face, but closes ones eyes typically means not wanting to see something, surprise, imagining something, or putting distance between yourself and the subject. They're still sitting in a similar way.

3:25 - 3:40 16,17,18
What is your favourite fun fact that you like about your character?"
DT Answers - David now sits slanted towards Michael. Right arm resting on right crossed leg, causing him to slant over to Michael. Michael is also leaning to the right, but he's been like that for most of the interview. Maybe because it's comfortable or to be able to see David better. David gestures with his hands, then repositions his arms. 19
3:40 - 4:00
MS Answers - David listens then goes back to the previous position. Again, he tends to move a lot in general. 20

4:33 - 4:51
4:38 - 4:42 David repositions, turning to Michael. 21
4:43 - 4:51 Michael stays the same. David leans closer. 22

5:21 - 6:27
"What's your favourite behind the scenes moment/blooper?"
David is slanted again. 23
6:00 - 6:27 - The Apology Dance
MS Answers - Michael starts smiles as he tells the story. David starts rubbing his hands when he realizes what Michael is talking about. Rubs hands, pursued lips in a straight line, inflated cheeks. His initial reaction is 'oh it's this…" his eyebrows are relaxed/not furrowed and his eyes are more open than usual. It doesn't piss him off. He's not angry that Michael is bring it up or not angry about what Michael did. It's just a realization. 23,24,25 David then relaxes his face as he looks up, remembering the event, with a smile. It's not an unpleasant memory. 26,27

Michael comments that the dance was hard for David and David furrows his eyebrows and says it wasn't difficult for him. David genuinely disagrees, but Michael got the reaction that he was hoping for. Michael smiles when David disagrees and goes on playfully that David made it look hard. 28,29,30,31,32,33

"I got him to do it one more time with him thinking we were filming (34) another take, but it was (35) just so I could hold up a score (36, 37) card at the end and go SEVEN!" - MS
This is a happy memory for the both of them. Michael is having a blast as he's sharing and David is looking down with a smiling going over the event in his head, with a genuine smile. Fond, reminiscing smile. At the end. David laughs looking down (something he doesn't do often with Michael around). He's embarrassed and/or bashful. 38,39
Michael is just do happy. The memory and David's reaction to it.

6:57 - 7:20
"What did you learn from working with each other?"
There's a cut, then we see David with his arms crossed. Could be he's getting in a comfy position or that for some reason, he's closed off to answering the question. At the end, he never does give a answer. Michael says that being a nice person will cause people to be nice back and David laughs at this looking down. Again, could be embarrassment and not knowing what to do/say or disbelief of what Michael learned ('really? You just learned that?'). David and Michael both laugh and then Michael looks away.
"You're a very nice man." -MS
"Oh so are you! Putting yourself down." -DT 44
David is bugged by Michaels comment and insinuation that Michael doesn't see himself as a nice person.
-
-
There's an obvious huge difference between now and then.
Michael is not bothered at all with their proximity. Neither one of them move away or are stiff in order to not invade personal space. Michael, more than David, is more mindful of not going over the line, but he's still moving his hands around and turning to David to see him more directly. He continues to stare at David (when David is busy talking) and following David's movements with his head/eyes.
David doesn't avoid Michael anymore. He seeks out Michaels face, is somehow always leaning or moving closer to Michael he talks a lot more relaxed and has more tone in his voice. He also stares now, unlike before where he would stare off into nothing or at the camera/interviewer. He's more receptive to Michaels comments more often.
They're both relaxed with each other. Sitting close was probably not a choice. We see Nina and Maggie sitting just as close, but more upright and stiff, but with Michael and David, they're moving towards the other or in the same direction. They both make more eye contact and are playful, genuinely smile, add on, moving their hands when talking. There's familiarity now. Enough for them to be relaxed and take everything the other says playfully and expecting/hoping for a specific reaction.

Okay so I talked about this at length before but bakugan is really ambitious with the story it is telling in the length of time that it has.
In 52 episodes we meet our 6 main character, 5 main bakugan. But that’s not all. You have the masquerade and his bakugan, the rival crew and their bakugan (five more human and bakugan pairs to meet and learn the dynamics of) Christopher, Joe and Wavern. It’s a very bloated cast. And with a cast that size it’s amazing that so many characters got to shine and have arcs/character growth in the time that they had. They were very efficient and I’m still amazed.
However if I may fly close to the sun. As we are in the land scape of reboots let us look at a retelling instead. Because the main problem with Bakugan season 1 is it’s two short.
“But 52 episode isn’t short” you’re right. But think of what we could do if we had more time.
Like I said I’ve talked about this before but allow me to go again.
Take episodes 1-25 and expand them to be a full 52 episode season 1.
1-13 is fine this introduces our cast and their dynamics.
Episodes 14 - 18 is where the expansion happens. This is the segment where Billy, Chan-Lee, Klause, Julio, and Komba are working for Masquarde. Expand this. Have them be evil longer. And take down time (yes I know they didn’t have this because the goal isn’t sell toys but let me house on substance)
We end 18 like normal. Preyus is gone. Marucho is big sad. Let the Brawlers split up. But instead of Julie instantly going after Billy and freeing him, milk it.
Things to accomplish in no order.
Runo and Marucho centered episode (no Dan to the rescue) Runo trying to comfort Marucho when they are attacked by let’s say Chan-Lee and they have to work together to win. Bonus points if Alice is with them helping them strategize. Marucho is brawling for the first time in a long time without Preyus, he will need the help and support. Let them be friends supporting each other.
That brings up another part, as soon as Alice is present she is tagging along for Brawls. I mean from the airport episode onward. They say she is the team’s strategist, show me. Have her helping them with strategy and as the show goes onward the Brawlers need her help less and less. This shows the growth of the Brawlers as Characters while also make Alice an integral member of the team.
Dan and Shun’s fight. Make it last longer. Dan and Julie go off and face Komba.
Shun and Alice go off and get attacked by Julio. (We never see these match ups in the show and it would be fun to put their styles against each other)
Dan and Shun reunite and apologize (both were jerks) just in time for Billy and Klause to show up. Julie tries to get Billy to Brawl her/talk to her but Klause has no interest in collecting Gorem (yet) and Billy is still under the negative influence. Maybe Billy says something about his and Julie’s friendship being meaningless. Julie is obviously upset and Dan and Shun step in. The duel allows the two of them to parallel their own childhood friendship with Julie and Billy’s and that even though they went through a rough patch/circumstances changed (Shun’s mom died) their friendship still means a lot to them. Just line Billy’s friendship means a lot to Julie. It’s not enough to get through to Billy but it helps Julie feel less alone.
We met Julie’s sister. This does not have to be a Brawl. This can be as simple at her calling to check in on Julie and the Audience seeing how inferior Julie feels compared to her sister. (This can also be shown by her parent checking in and comparing the two girls, or by Billy being up Julie’s “perfect sister” as a way to taunt her) either way I want her brought up and stationed as this impossible standard that Julie feels she can never reach.
I also want Marucho’s parents to check in and for Marucho to struggle between pleasing them and being a Brawler. This is especially hard as he does not currently have Preyus.
Let this happen in the same episode. Let Julie and Marucho bond over having impossible standards thrusted upon them. Let them brawl together (I don’t think we ever see them tag battle)
Runo is still upset with Dan or something and her and Julie get into an argument. The two later get into a tag team brawl. Use this as a chance to show how Runo’s stubbornness can get them into trouble but also as a way to show the girls bonding as they work together. (Let them talk about something besides Dan)
Just more character interactions. More emphasis on their friendships. Dan and Shun’s childhood. Marucho getting support. Bring up the focus of Julie and Marucho’s trials earlier so that they hit harder later. INCLUDE ALICE MORE. Let Runo shine in more than just her relationship with Dan.
Also show their ranks going up (make it a big deal like the bounties in one piece)
(Again I know why the show moves so fast (toys) but let character relationships and dynamics matter)
Episode 19-22 is when the brawlers beat the rival crew for the last time. These match ups remain the same. And just think how much harder the Preyus reveal will hit if their is more time to see how his absence effects not only Marucho but the whole team (Runo’s fears about losing Tigrerra). Julie still saves Billy with the power of friendship. Shun still (unwillingly) gains a student in Komba. Dan, Runo and Marucho still fight in the triple battle.
End the season in one of two ways.
1) the Joe episodes.
Durning everything about they should still be suspicious of Joe.
The reveal of Hoe as a good guy and the reveal of Wavern powers should be a big moment.
End the season wondering who the Spy is and make it super dramatic that it is one of the Brawlers. One of the characters we just spent 52 episodes with.
2) end it on cannon episode 27
The second to last episode shows all the rivals being beaten by Masquerade
The last episode is Dan throwing himself into the doom dimension.
Let me know if you want the second half of this nonsense. I’ve talked about it a bit already, but I currently am on the last part of my Battle Brawlers rewatch and will be able to add more detail later

Hawk & Tim's scenes in chronological order
Okay, so I made a list with the timestamps of each scene between Hawk and Tim to be able to watch them in chronological order (you know, to make everything even more painful). I already watched through it yesterday and it worked well, so I thought I might share it.
Note that this only includes direct interactions between Hawk and Tim. The only scenes I included where they didn’t interact directly is Mary telling Tim that Hawk betrayed him, the letter Lucy burned, and the final scene at the AIDS quilt.
If you want to watch their entire story, including all the scenes of them talking about each other, I honestly think it’s easier to just watch the episodes in order and skip to the right parts (maybe I’ll also do another one for the entire series).
I hope I didn’t forget anything. Also, I can't gurantee that everything will be 100% accurate - it probably depends on where you watch the show (e.g. if the upload comes without the recap of the previous episode, this will probably be off)
(Below the cut due to length)

Cardcaptor Luz AU
Thanks to the insight and suggestions of @owl-house-angel-writer, I was able to develop a clearer idea of this AU.
Cardcaptors' lore states that magic users usually are born to a magical bloodline; the manga reveals that Sakura's father was a reincarnation of Clow Reed without the memories or magic. But I didn't want Luz to be born with magic since I feel like it would take away from The Owl House's message of chosing yourself rather than being a chosen one.
So @owl-house-angel-writer came up with this idea: when Luz was a little girl, she wishes on a falling star to save her Dad. The star actually falls from the sky (for reasons unrelated to the wish) and it is revealed to be a young Celestial (my name for the Collector/Archivists species), the little sister of the Collector who has been searching for him. Luz finds and befriends her, but even when the Celestial (I'm calling her Astra the Explorer) says she can't heal Manny's sickness, Luz continues to take care of her in the abandoned house until she is ready to leave. When she does, Astra gives Luz a little blessing, allowing the human girl to draw magic from the starts like the Celestials do.
This way, Luz's powers are a reward for being herself rather than coming from a special bloodline.
The next thing was to figure out how to go about the capturing of the Cards part as there are 53 Cards in total (52 former Clow Cards plus the Hope Card). There are only 19 Cards in the manga: The Light, The Dark, The Windy, The Watery, The Firey, The Earthy, The Wood, The Flower, The Thunder, The Illusion, the Mirror, The Fly, The Jump, The Erase, The Maze, The Sword, The Shield, The Shadow, and The Glow. The other 32 are exclusively from the anime and the movies.
This is what I decided to do: of the original 19 Cards from the manga, I'm eliminating both The Glow and The Flower due to redundancy. The Glow only creates little balls of light while The Flower grows, well, flowers, stuff that Luz can do with the Light and Plant Glyphs respectively. To the remaining 17 Cards I will add The Time; these 18 Cards will be the only ones that Clow created and sealed in the Book, so there will be the ones that Luz will capture throughout Season 1.
Season 1 will consist of 20 episodes with Luz capturing one Card per episode except for Watery and Dark as their episodes are two-parters: Watery during the mid-season and Dark during the finale. The Glyphs will be found alongside the matching elemental Card, so the Light Glyph will be found in the first episode with the Light Card, the Ice Glyph with the Watery, etc.
Besides the canon Glyphs, I'm adding Earth, Wind, Lightning and Dark.
I I know that the Light and Dark Cards are meant to be sealed together, but the lore is changed a bit so that Light is the first Card Luz has which she uses to bind the other Cards. This is because the Light Card fits Luz the best.
Belos, with the Collector's help, created a false Sealing Wand to artificially capture the Dark. During the Season 1 finale, Belos tries using the Dark against Luz but cannot control it. This causes both the Dark and the Light to go out of control, forcing Luz to capture and seal them together.
As for the rest of the Cards, Belos found some of Clow's notes about Cards that he wanted to create plus how to create them, so he decided to make his own deck with the Collector's help, Unfortunately, these "Belos" Cards are hard to control and turn rogue, necessitating for Luz to purify and convert them into Star Cards. That would be the plot of Season 2.
After converting the Cards to her own magic, Luz calls them Star Cards (like in the dub) even though Kero insists that they're called Luz Cards. But that would make them all Light Cards, so Luz doesn't use that name. It's a running gag.
Note that Belos won't create ALL of the remaining Cards, only ones that he found useful like the Dash or the Shot. Belos, reading the notes on Cards like the Bubbles or the Sweet would be like "Yeah, I'm not making that one."
Luz would be the one who creates some of these Cards, mostly for practice since she will later create Cards based on the nine types of magic (except for Illusion which already exists). Though the Bubbles is useful for washing Kero, Hooty and King.
Other eliminated Cards are the Change, the Cloud, the Rain, the Silent, the Voice, the Song (the Bard Card will have the powers of these two and more), and the Wave.
The Nothing, the Nameless Card and the Hope will appear in Season 3.
Speaking of Season 3, the plot involves the conflict between the Archivists vs the Souls of other Titans and their worshippers. The latter would actually be antagonists since they hate the whole Celestial race for what the Archivists did to the Titans and many would not hesitate to harm the Collector and his little sister, as well as anyone who defends them. Nevermind that the Archivists were a rogue group and that the rest of the Celestials disapprove of their actions. Luz will be faced with the challenge to forge piece between these two races
@owl-house-angel-writer suggested Titans as antagonists because the idea is fascinating. While I was unsure at first, I admit that it's an unique take on things.
As you know, Kero will be by Luz's side from the start but what about Yue? What's he doing?
A few years before Luz came to the Isles, Yue awoke in the form of a young, silvery-haired witch with no memories but very powerful magic. He was taken in by Lilith Clawthorne who named him Julius Argent and appointed him as her right-hand man. A Silver Sentinel to Belos' Golden Guard (yes, it was @owl-house-angel-writer who came up with this idea). Julius Argent comes from Yukito's dub name, Julian, and the word argent which means "silver."
Julius’s personality is pretty much the same as Yukito's in canon. Since Amity is Lilith's protege, Julius helps to train her and they developed a bond akin to siblings. This also serves to give Yue a connection with both Amity and Luz, similar to the canon connection to Sakura and Syaoran. Of course, Amity won't have any crush on Julius, but Luz might for a bit. And I have no idea who should I pair Yue/Julius with.
Julius doesn't have any loyalty towards Belos, only being part of the Emperor's Coven because of Lilith. While he goes along with Lilith's plans, Julyan has no personal quarrel with the inhabitants of the Owl House and is rather affable to them. In fact, Julius would be very against Lilith using Luz as bait for Eda and, after witnessing Lilith using Luz as a shield, he would help Luz and Eda escape.
Julius memories as Yue are unsealed during the Season 1 finale, after Luz has sealed the Light and the Dark together. Yet, he waits a few weeks before performing the Judgement to give Luz time to recover from her fight with Belos.
The Judgement would occur on the second episode of Season 2 as episode one is Luz returning the the Human Realm after camp ends. On the way back to the portal, Luz and co run into Yue, who can enter whatever Realm the Cardcaptor is in without a portal. It is then that Yue reveals that he was Julius and the Judgement begins.
While not holding back, Yue is not as cruel to Luz as he was to Sakura, and has no problem with her becoming the Mistress of the Clow. He just needs to make sure that she is strong enough to face whatever future challenges that lie ahead.
Luz not only uses the Cards but the Glyphs as well, as Yue told her to use all of her skills. As to how the Glyphs work in the Human Realm, there is a vial of Titan's Blood nearby for some reason. Then Luz manages to transform her Wand into the Star Wand and turn the 18 Cards in her possession into Star Cards. She also fully bonds with the Glyphs and they become a part of her Magic Circle, signifying that Luz now draws her magic from both the stars and the Titan. This echoes how Clow's magic was a combination of Western and Easter magic. Obviously, she manages to defeat Yue and officially becomes Mistress of the Clow, but she prefers to treat Yue and Kero as her friends.
Bonding with the Glyphs also caused their magic to be imbued into the Cards, making them much more powerful. In fact, the Wood and the Thunder become just as powerful as the Light, the Dark and the four elements.
Some other things about this AU:
Luz could do some magic before becoming the Cardcaptor but it was unfocused and out of her control, causing issues that contributed to her being sent to camp. It was after becoming the Cardcaptor and receiving training that Luz was able to use her magic properly. She IS able to use magic outside of the Glyphs and the Cards, she just needs to practice before figuring out how to cast Demon Realm spells.
Like Kero and Yue, King will receive a super form of his own thanks to Luz, though Luz first needs to bond with the Glyphs.
Clow is actually the father of Evelyn, the witch that Caleb Wittebane married, meaning that Clow is the ancestor of the Clawthorne family. He married a witch named Lynn Thorne and fathered had Evelyn, though he died when she was very young. As an adult, Evelyn changed her surname to Clawthorne as a way to honor her father and hide herself and her child from Philip.
Being Clow's descendants explains why Eda and Lilith are so powerful. Eventually, they discover that they can draw magic from celestial bodies, Eda from the sun and Lilith from the moon. This also explains why Yue/Julius was so fond of Lilith as he could subconsciously sense her relation to Clow.
The Owl Family learn the truth about the Owl Beast earlier and Eda gains her Harpy form before the season finale. Luz also uses her magic to heal the damage on Eda's body caused by the transformations.

part 4 of season 2, episode 18 “awake, arise, or be forever fallen” continued FIRST MALEC FLASHBACK
50. Alec waking up is the cutest thing

51. I love not out season one Alec because he constantly goes from “I’m not gay” to “I’m gay” in seconds around Magnus
Magnus goes from I’m insulted to you really think I would tell anyone about this??????

52. Alec: I’m never drinking again

53. season one Alec was on another level (sorry Alec we thought you liked Magnus calling you pretty)

54. Alec: I’m not gay I’m not gay I’m not- fuck I’m gay

55. THE RETURN OF I HATE CLARY ALEC I MISS THIS ALEC

56. Alexander, magnus knows you’re gay. it’s quite obvious

57. I posted similar ones in the last part but Magnus looks so precious here

58. it goes to show that Magnus is having much of a struggle as Alec is

59. Magnus: oh I’m sorry I helped your friend babe

60. since I have a shit ton of parallels to go through, I’m going to be adding them randomly just to make y’all cry because if I’m crying, everyone else has to cry too WE WILL CRY TOGETHER

61. I know everyone loves the first time parallel the most but I really love this one just as much. season one Alec being a grumpy not openly gay man who is constantly battling with what he wants
62. Alec goes from I’m not gay to I’m gay instantly around Magnus as if you could fool us. I know people bitch about Magnus not looking like Magnus did in season one (which I love season one Magnus) but be grateful we got these flashbacks okay???????
63. Alec instantly trusts Magnus so from the start, they have trusted one another which also plays a role in the last few episodes and I would say this season. trust has been a huge theme so if you go back from the beginning, they never had an issue with trusting each other
“valentine” asking Alec to trust him
don’t you trust me with the DNA
Magnus finding out about the soul sword and I would say accusing Alec of not trusting him to keep his word
64. I have so many parallels that I love but going from I can’t let my people know I let a shadowhunter stay in my loft to happily having Alec in his bed and Alec calling Magnus’s loft home is at least in the top five in my opinion. it shows growth that they both seem wanting to protect their reputations to ending season two as I don’t care how people view us, you’re the one I love
you could also add this with Alec not thinking he can have what he wants in season one to Magnus thinking the same in this episode, to end of season two Alec and Magnus both sort of having both happiness and career. I only say sort of because Magnus does lose his high warlock position but he’s then in a position to have clients so kind of same?????
adding a part 5 to finish up the flashback scene
#anti cassandra clare#anti cc#just my stupid opinions#alec lightwood#magnus bane#shadowhunters tv#show alec is superior#show magnus is superior#show malec is superior#shadowhunter show is superior#Alec: move I’m gay#putting anti cc on all show shadowhunter posts because i don’t want an pro book fans hating on my shit#marking this as 2x18#yall just wait a few more weeks and you’ll be going to bed together lmao#season one sassy not out alec is lowkey one of my fav Alec’s

these are my thoughts on interview with the vampire episode 5 season 2
I've heard a few things about this episode, I've been really wanting to watch it just havent had had the time yet. I've also heard that they don't actually unpack any of it.which seems pretty on brand for them
(6:10) Sometimes, ii think i have bad handwriting, but then there’s daniel’s, which makes my feel a lot better about my own
(7:52) definitely gay (8:11) definitely
This whole interview is just a who can be the sassiest and most insane old gay guy possible
(9:46) daniel is like that one fall out boy song, he spent an entire decade high and doesn't remember any of it (or that he is gay)
(10:04) i like how they had him standing at the window, it's a nice touch
(12:53) if i just found out that vampires are real, i think i would be pretty fucking afraide too
I've been painting my nails while watching and ended up skipping on of my nails
(13:35) that was perfect, it was so close to quoting the book, it was good enough that i even recognised it before i even looked up the first few pages
(16:03) I like this louis more than the other few, he’s so much more fun and happy instead of seeming like he only sort of wanted to be there.
(17:18) it's no wonder he doesn't remember the first interview, he looks like he could barely stand if he wanted to
(22:55) 70’s armand is millennial grey
(24:21) i think someone is a little jealous (another weirdly spelled word) ((25:19) and the other one is schizophrenia), i also think two someones need to go the marriage therapy
(26:16) well that took quite a turn, and i think its shows their relationship well, how even thought why both had just yelled at each other, armand still saved him right away, and then, though i haven't gotten there yet, i assume that armand made him forget how bad it hurt, (38:22), i take parts of that back, armand basically torched him, they really do need therapy, i'm surprised they didn't end up killing each other in the time between the interviews
(29:23) poor daniel got caught in the middle of their messed up relationship
(30:01) for some reason, i thought the guy in the bag was daniel, and somehow he was revived and turned into a vampire, i clearly didn't think this through much because now that i'm thinking about it again, there in no way that would have worked
Armand is supposed to look 17, he looks 20 or so, i know his actor is somewhere in his 20’s and he did play him well, i don't think they could have done the show the same way if he was played by a younger actor.
(38:22) about time
(45:31) louis is quite a jump scare when the rest of your room is dark and quite
(51:01) once again, not talking about the problems
OTHER
I really like how both daniel’s had similar voices, specifically the gravely (i think that's the right word) parts
Conclusion of this episode: maybe all four of them could use some therapy or atleast to talk to each other and work out their problems (the last part doesn't really apply to lestat, he was not part of the sort of ok guys, not good guys, i don't think any of them really qualify as good guys except daniel, he was just caught up in everything)
This episode really put their relationship through it but i think it may have helped parts of it as well, maybe if armand and louis could actually talk they could have a better relationship that isn't just hanging off a cliff
@certainunkownlove2 was telling me about this post and i think all of you need to read it, he is so wonderful for this
Thank you for reading, now it is time for me to rest (literally speaking, it's late and i'm tired)

As a bonus, because this is something I've been thinking about more recently, my top 10 read female authors (number in parentheses is their rank on my locg stats):
(5) Devin Grayson - 149
(6) Gail Simone - 140
(18) G. Willow Wilson - 79
(27) Marguerite Bennet - 60
(33) Kim Yale - 46
(36) Kelly Thompson - 45
(39) Mariko Tamaki - 44
(52) Kelly Sue DeConnick - 29
(72) Christy Marx - 20
(74) Louise Jones simonson - 20
(I've been logging bombshells as the issues instead of the individual episodes because that makes the most sense to me, otherwise, Bennet would be in the top 10!)
And the Top read female interior artists:
(30) Fiona Staples - 55
(33) Nicola Scott - 53
(95) Jill Thompson - 30
(105) Laura Braga - 28
(156) Emanuela Lupacchino - 20
(163) Bilquis Evely - 19
(165) Carmen Carnero - 19
(168) Sandra Hope - 19
(197) Emma Rios - 15
(257) Elena Casagrande - 11
I think part of the difference here is just how much harder it is to be a prolific comics artist, but it still feels notable.
