Vimana?
What is it?
Well, put simply, they are the mythical flying "chariots" out of the South Asian epics. Though, interestingly enough, the earliest mentions of them specifically exclude mentions of horses//being horse drawn.
They are entirely self moving. The word means to traverse, traverse/measure out.
In the ancient epics, they were as large as some palaces, and sometimes listed as a palace (for a character in the epics) and interesting is the evolution of the word today from the days of the epics to where it now means airship/craft.
In the Ramayama, the character and villain, Ravana (inspiration for Rahvin for you WoT fans), has a vimana described as: resembling the Sun, and a chariot able to traverse anywhere and everywhere, resembling a bright cloud, and by command, could go into the atmosphere.
Vimana can travel the skies at insane speed, and notably rain down fire and weapons of mass destruction in battles. Idk about you, but that sounds like some space ship level stuff.
Maybe Stargate was onto something. :SG1 MUSIC INTENSIFIES:
Viman can be shaped into many ways, however. One story tells of a flowery Viman shaped like an eagle that Lord Vishnu sent down to carry the soul of one person up to heaven. Important to also note that Eagles are important in the mythos as they are associated with Garuda a deity and divine bird being who is eagle-like (like not 1-1), as well as often related to a kite (the bird) and yes, the toy that flies through the air is derived in name from the bird. Anyways, Garuda is the mount of Lord Vishnu, and so through him eagles also have a level of high prominence - another example is Shyena, the divine eagle associated with Agni (god of fire).
Anyways circling back to Vimana, some could go invisible (cloaking engaged). But, yeah, read the South Asian epics and myths, there is mind blowingly cool stuff in them.

a quick psa to anyone recently getting into greek mythology and is a victim of tumblr and/or tiktok misconceptions:
-there is no shame in being introduced to mytholgy from something like percy jackson, epic the musical or anything like that, but keep in mind that actual myths are going to be VERY different from modern retellings
-the myth of medusa you probably know (her being a victim of poseidon and being cursed by athena) isn't 100% accurate to GREEK mythology (look up ovid)
-there is no version of persephone's abduction in which persephone willingly stays with hades, that's a tumblr invention (look up homeric hymn to demeter)
-as much as i would like it, no, cerberus' name does not mean "spot" (probably a misunderstanding from this wikipedia article)
-zeus isn't the only god who does terrible things to women, your fav male god probably has done the same
-on that note, your fav greek hero has probably done some heinous shit as well
-gods are more complicated than simply being "god of [insert thing]", many titles overlap between gods and some may even change depending on where they were worshipped
-also, apollo and artemis being the gods of the sun and the moon isn't 100% accurate, their main aspects as deities originally were music and the hunt
-titans and gods aren't two wholly different concepts, titan is just the word used to decribe the generation of gods before the olympians
-hector isn't the villain some people make him out to be
-hephaestus WAS married to aphrodite. they divorced. yes, divorce was a thing in ancient greece. hephaestus' wife is aglaia
-ancient greek society didn't have the same concepts of sexuality that we have now, it's incorrect to describe virgin goddesses like artemis and athena as lesbians, BUT it's also not wholly accurate to describe them as aromantic/asexual, it's more complex than that
-you can never fully understand certain myths if you don't understand the societal context in which they were told
-myths have lots and lots of retellings, there isn't one singular "canon", but we can try to distinguish between older and newer versions and bewteen greek and roman versions
-most of what you know about sparta is probably incorrect
-reading/waching retellings is not a substitute to reading the original myths, read the iliad! read the odyssey! i know they may seem intimidating, but they're much more entertaining than you may think
greek mythology is so complex and interesting, don't go into it with preconcieved notions! try to be open to learn!

hey so i Fully Believe that telemachus was not afraid of odysseus in Hold Them Down
people may have told him stories of Odysseus, King of Ithaca, Athena's chosen Champion, Hero of Troy
but mama's boy telemachus sat by her feet as she wove tapestry after tapestry; and penelope told her little wolf stories of his father
how they met, how he tripped over himself to woo her, how he cried his eyes out when penelope became pregnant, how telemachus wouldn't sleep in his cot as a baby because he was so used to being in his father's arms because odysseus would not put him down; and yes, how viciously he defended their family when the atrides came to retrieve him for the war
telemachus? the child of the Unhinged Power Couple? who knew very well how horrible those suitors were, how they treated him and spoke of his mother?
took one look at his dad viciously protecting their home, their family, and thought he was the coolest, strongest person ever (after mom ofc)

🦉 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝒂𝒓𝒕 𝒐𝒇 𝒘𝒂𝒓 𝒅𝒐𝒆𝒔 𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒔𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒔𝒐𝒍𝒅𝒊𝒆𝒓
Here is my Atena design!
I'm thinking of making her a little more muscular, but slender, as if she represented the agility of battles. She rarely smiles, like a strict teacher who wants the best for you and one way or another, she will always be remembered. Also her snakes re a refference to medusa, as they represent each other (as my friend told me and I love to see like that).
And! Apollo and Athena after 'God Games' in EPIC - the musical and she gets this lightning scar.
Zeus beat the crap out of her, but he would never kill Athena!! And I like that it suits him to be so strict with her, at least for me, she is the oldest daughter and the one who suffers the most pressure. What I dont like... its that in Epic, Zeus changed to look worse again!! ;w; really, he was way chill about releasing Odisseus and just wanted to not upset Poseidon in the process....

ithaca saga telemachus design
I really liked trying to figure out a way to implement some Athena and Odysseus elements on his design while still keeping the Telemachus silhouette. But I'm very satisfied with how he looks! Kinda makes me want to make an animatic for Odysseus, but I probably won't
also the brush I used for the line is by pixelstains on deviantart!
