Oh my god. I need to share another story of my new friend making today. So my friends husband says, very casually, as we’re about to leave for the ren faire, “Yeah, it’s like my story about fucking a chicken.”
And of the four people present I was the only one who was shocked. The others all nodded as if to say, yes yes, we know, the chicken fucking.
So he explained, when a progressive person is analyzing a behavior they will typically use the metric, Harm/No Harm. They may not like things in the No Harm category but they wouldn’t object.
Conversely, a more conservative mindset used something like eight metrics. Authority/No Authority Moral/Not Moral, things like that.
So, he posited if you want to sound out someone’s mindset (and you’re willing to live with the repercussions) you can ask: if a man buys a dead chicken from the store, cleans it thoroughly, then fucks it, and then eats it himself…?
I listened in dawning horror, both rapt and disgusted. But into the growing pause I whispered, “No harm…” because it really has no effect on me or anyone else if a man fucks a dead chicken. I don’t like it, I think he’s a weird dude, but like. That’s his dick. But a more conservative person will hear that and object on moral grounds despite not being harmed.
It’s been haunting me all day, so please enjoy.

Powerpuff Girls was actually a show about a group of small children crushing the patriarchy and no one will convince me otherwise

General litmus test: if you can take the thing you are going to say about transmascs, and replace transmascs with women, and it is obviously misogynistic? Literally just shut up it's entirely free.

“Generically medieval”, by which we mean our peerage is French, our castles are German, our weapons are Italian, and everybody speaks English.

garden variety conservative transphobia is going to get worse but radical feminism is also going to get worse. if youre a cis women terfs are going to try to recruit you and make you believe that the reason your rights are at stake is because of trans people. they're going to tell you that all men are your violent oppressors and they're going to include trans women in that category. they're gonna tell you about women who are gender traitors and joined the enemy and they're going to point to trans men. don't believe them. trans people are not your enemy, we have no power over you, and we desperately need your support and your solidarity.
be aware of radfem pipelines and dog whistles too. be skeptical of anyone that talks about the divine feminine or correlates birthing, menstruating, or female reproductive organs with womanhood. be especially skeptical of people who use those biological things as reasons to why women are more spiritual, or more in tune with nature, or just that they're better than men (read: anyone they decide is a man)
radical feminism is an expected reactionary outcome from cis women who are being oppressed by conservatives, especially when all they practice is ciscentric, liberal, white feminism. they feel the need to be radicalized but don't have the experience and information to pinpoint the true source of their suffering. trans people are not your enemy, AMAB people are not your enemy, anyone who identifies as a man is not your enemy. we're all being crushed under the same stone

there Has been a lot of work by feminists to talk about men's issues and needs However. this simply does not mean that All feminist spaces and feminists are good at doing this. like. feminism has, historically, had a lot of issues with how to address the relationship between women and men, and how to fit trans and imtersex people into an inherently binarist framework of gender relations.
once again there is no way to address certain issues in feminist spaces without talking about the treatment of men and masculinity as something innately suspicious and negative if not outright hostile. this has been an issue for years. i need people to stop going "why are feminist spaces so hostile to trans women and men! why are nonbinary people seen as male treated worse! why do so many men see feminism as a space hostile to their existence*!" and then get defensive when people point out that maybe we still have some work to do on creating a feminist vision that is not innately binarist, that does not view maleness and masculinity as The Other if not The Enemy.
*yes many cis men see feminism like this because it questions the patriarchy which they still rely on for a sense of identity and self worth, and they are intimidated by the amount of self-reflection feminism asks of them. this can be true at the same time that many feminist spaces do, in fact, make themselves hostile to men, and fail to really promote an anti-patriarchal male perspective that would make more cis men feel that feminism is "for them." many self-proclaimed feminists still rely on patriarchal tools like mocking penis size which is not only part of violent intersexism, but it's also a failed opportunity to resist an aspect of patriarchy which largely impacts men and show what we mean when we say feminism is for everyone. we CAN do better.

officially decided that anyone who tries to divide the lgbt community is a fed. i dont care if you're not actually a fed, if you're causing infighting in a minority community then you're a fed who just isnt getting paid to be one. either apply for a job at the CIA or shut the fuck up

"School districts currently work with processing companies to offer cashless payment systems for families. But the companies can charge “processing fees” for each transaction. By law, students who are eligible for reduced price meals cannot be charged more than 30 cents for breakfast and 40 cents for lunch. With processing fees, however, families can end up paying 10 times that amount. Processing companies charge as much as $3.25 or 4% to 5% per transaction, according to a recent report from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau."

i grew up in a big city and i rly think it’s important to the best of your ability learn to be okay sharing spaces with people who are not in that moment pleasant to be around. people who smell bad. screaming children. people asking you for money. teenagers noisily loitering. people talking to themself or to you in disorganized ways. even in a socialist utopia with free health care and housing and robust harm reduction programs, there’s always going to be people being disruptive and uncomfortable in public and you’ve gotta be okay with that and be polite.

Howdy folks, the Senate will be considering the first ever resolution blocking arms to Israel. This is huge and historic; it would block government contracting and about $20 billion in arms and support. This is an uphill battle, PLEASE urge your senators to support S.J.Res114-115. This is maybe the most important piece of legislation relating to Palestine that we have ever gotten and we must seize this opportunity.
This doc has information on the resolutions and their process, as well as sample messages and a phone script you can use. Please, use this moment to hear witness for your neighbors.
