It's May 7, 1997, and you're about to watch episode 6 of Revolutionary Girl Utena!!!

There was a HUUUGE data leak though, and somehow, in advance of the episode dropping, you were able to catch the storyboards!! (Hell, you even found someone who leaked the script, and screenshots of the episode!) Looks pretty exciting, lots of strange things happening here. The storyboards say episode 8 for some reason, but otherwise it all seems on the up and up!

So you eagerly crack open your May issue of Newtype Magazine to check out the plot summary:

Today's home economics class is cooking practice. At Miki's request, Himemiya and I decided to make "spicy curry." However, the curry powder we use is replaced with extremely spicy curry from India, which is so spicy that Touga's younger sister, Nanami, harasses her. What's more, the spiciness explodes into pieces! The phantom megaton of ultra-spicy curry, 900 billion times more, goes into the pot. When Himemiya and I did that, we were so blown away that our personalities switched!! Hey, hey, you're not kidding!

Wait....what????? That doesn't match the storyboards at all! Or the screenshots??? Sure enough, the episode title listed with this plot summary is Nanami-sama, Beware!...but what's curry gotta do with that?

So you hop in a time machine, and check out Ikuhara's 2011 DVD extras commentary:

This episode originally went into production as “Episode 8.” It was “in production as Episode 8” during scripting, storyboarding, and even after animation started. But it got switched in the broadcast order with “Episode 6 (”Curried High Trip”, which broadcast as episode 8)“, because that episode fell behind schedule. Because I always called this “Episode 8” during the production process, the impression stuck in my mind to this day is: “Curry is Ep 6; the kangaroo is Ep 8.” It’s a comedic story, but it shows Nanami’s feelings for Touga. This wasn’t just about Nanami; it was also about how we’d present Touga. The original plan was to connect stories with a “Touga Episodes” theme: first in episode 8 we’d show Nanami’s feelings for Touga is a comedic way, then in episode 9 we’d show Touga in contrast with [Kyouichi] Saionji, then in episode 10 we’d show Touga using Nanami’s feeling for him, and finally in episode 11 we’d show Touga facing off against Utena. I’d used a group of three identical characters before, in Sailor Moon S [the Amazon Trio?]. It was strangely fun, so I tried sticking them in this show, too. The staff liked them, too (it was probably more like the staff found them convenient), so we turned them into semi-regular characters. It’s largely thanks to Ms. Hayashi, the animation director, that the production troubles weren’t reflected in the quality of the episode. I like how Touga looks so unnecessarily cool during the climax, when he defeats the kangaroo.

Huh!!! In case you're wondering, the next issue of Newtype will have the identical description under an episode 8 titled Curried High Trip. So I guess amid the mess, they just never published an episode description for this one??

Date: 09/13/2023 In my previous post, I wrote that time in s2 is broken and dead. I was curious if this was true for s1, too… For me the main problem of the last month was the dates in the files (character intros), the date of Emma's death + September 9th mentioned in episode 3, so I tried to consider these as related things. I always was confused by April-September thing, I thought that it is a mistake, but. Probably not. So. Let's break down the first episode! It was a deep dive, I'm not sure how real any of this can be, but (c) Let's divide everything into three parts:

Chronology

April 16, which we see hours later that day. Qiao Ling receives an order from an unknown customer.

The goal is to get financial core data of Quede company. Information has to be obtained by diving in Emma, during the last financial settlement meeting before the release of the financial report, 2 days ago, on the April 14th, photo was posted at 10 pm.

Additionally, it is mentioned that there was an earlier photo, but they start with the most recent one so that the information is not “outdated”.

Events take place from April 16th to 17th in the present for Lu Guang. From April 14th to 15th in the past for Emma and Cheng Xiaoshi.

April 14th: 10:00 pm - start of diving. As Emma, Cheng Xiaoshi lived through the events in the company's office and stayed for overwork.

April 15th: About 2:45 a.m. Emma's parents text to her, Cheng Xiaoshi decided to reply.

9-10 am, morning, the meeting began. A conflict situation occurs, the laptop falls, Emma!Xiaoshi is on the floor. Lu Guang records data from the screen - Cheng Xiaoshi returns to the present time.

Later this day. Somewhere later that day, information about the company is leaked, involved people are arrested (news from April 17th)

Before 10 pm: Emma comes home after this day, she realizes that the situation with Quede is a stain on her career, because she was Mr.Zhu's assistant, there is no way for her to find a job in this field anymore.

Lately she discovers messages (02:48, that Cheng Xiaoshi texted) with her parents - this becomes her motivation for a call. It's the same day, still today (今天）- April 15th. This is the reason why we know that the disclosure of the company's affairs occurred on the same day after the meeting.

After 10 pm, before 10:30 pm Emma goes to the train station but runs into Liu Min, agrees to go with him.

About 10:34 p.m Liu Min attacks Emma.

Somewhere between April 15th and 16th. An accident occurs, Liu Min will be left paralyzed.

April 16: At the moment of dawn, Emma jumps from the bridge.

Later this day, Quede Company was suspended (news from the 17th)

Later, Emma's body is found in the river in the evening (mentioned as "yesterday", news from the 17th)

April 17: present 9-10 am: Lu Guang gives instructions to Xiaoshi, they successfully obtain the information, Xiaoshi returns to the “present” time.” Evening, the same day: We receive information about the disclosure of financial fraud in the past tense until the 17th from the news at the end of the ep. Additional note: in these events, there is another Cheng Xiaoshi from the "future" (events of October 22-23), who hides first in Liu Min's trunk, and then on the bridge with Emma. The chronology of events can be written as follows:

So it's clear - Lu Guang himself receives the necessary information about the company on the 17th at 10 am. By that time, Mr. Zhu had already been arrested 2 days ago and the company's activities had been suspended 1 day ago. Precisely because of financial fraud.

Also his reaction to Emma's death is interesting. Okay, that's a guess, but I always had the feeling that he knew she was dead from the very beginning of the case.

2. It's not about Quede

And so, we know that data about the company and financial fraud were already published on the 15th. The question remains simple - why did the mysterious unnamed client need the data, since he would have received it only on the 17th, after information about the fraud in Quede was already made public before they (the client) offered this task/job. So what other events are happening on nearby dates? They're not in the episode, they're in the characters intro. Obviously, the unknown client was unknown for a reason. As we also know, there is a character (or characters, there are 2 signatures on the documents) who are collecting dossiers on the main trio. There is a high chance that all of this is connected. This event takes place from the 14th to the 17th in total. Date on Qiao Ling's file: april 8th Lu Guang's file: april 10th Cheng Xiaoshi's file: april 12th

Documents for Lu Guang should be destroyed on the 17th, for Xiaoshi - on the 19th. This timing is kinda perfect. In my opinion, this task/job came as part of an "investigation" so that the unknown could better study the process of trio's work, understand the abilities of Cheng Xiaoshi and Lu Guang, probably, what their time limits are. So, yes. If we look at it from this side, this is not about Quede, it is not about financial fraud, it has never been about it. This research is to answer questions about the abilities of Cheng Xiaoshi and Lu Guang that remained on the files.

3. April is not April

April is a lie. Events take place in September. Although it’s more likely that the time has already been broken since the first season, and we technically don’t know which one is correct. Although Lu Guang's watch and documents (character dossiers) point to April, real events cannot possibly take place in April for many reasons.

1. 3rd financial quarter This is the main reason. This is stated in the first episode by Qiao Ling, and should immediately raise questions. The third quarter cannot possibly be April, absolutely. Because the following months are considered the third quarter: July, August, September.

2. News, 3rd ep Qiao Ling listens to the news on her headphones. We are not given a name, but the circumstances are the same - we learn that Emma's "suicide" was most likely a murder. Once again, it's September.

3. Cold weather is coming Emma's parents arrive to bring Emma warm clothes and mention that it is getting colder. If it were April, on the contrary, it would only get hotter, but everything is different when it comes to autumn.

4. Murders I am firmly convinced that the numbering of victims does not correspond to the real chronology. Yes, we know that there were more victims, and Emma was never "first", I mean those cases that were consolidated by the police and are in Xiao Li's documents. We have dates for an early murder in April, Emma being somewhere in the middle of that "break", since she was killed in both “April” and “September”, and there were murders after her, where the month was not indicated. Which once again points to the fact that something is wrong with these two months. Now things are going to get confusing, we consider April like September here. I can't see and understand details, so I'm only able to find the dates, since the numbers can at least be distinguished. Emma is considered the first murder only by number (died "April-September" 16th), but number 4 (Zao Cai, a blond man) died before her, "April-September", 2nd. In the folder, her documents go after his case. I think the fact is that initially the police believed that Emma committed suicide; at first, her case was not classified as a part of a series of murders, so police did not assign a chronological fifth number, but later, with new clues, simply moved her old documents in the "correct" chronological order to fifth place.

This technically makes Emma a 5 case… Or even a 6th. Because case 6 (Nan You) is also not without mysteries. The date of death is 14. I'm not sure why they put her file after Emma. Maybe they're unsure of the date or something and it's just an estimated date? So her date of death also “fell out of space.” But if 14 is correct, then this girl died 2 days earlier than Emma herself, and Emma technically becomes case 6.

The eighth case (Zhao Lin) occurs on 25th. The mystical 7 case is somewhere before that date, but we don't know how much of this is actual April or September.

In addition to mysterious 7th case, we also have 3 other earlier victims. They had to die before "April-September" 2nd, so the time of their death is roughly "March-August". We haven't seen their documents, but we know about their cases because of the photographs (the girl in the pink suit is probably the girl with the dog from ep11, since the BG is the same)

And also Xu Shanshan.

Who technically didn't die due to the time loop, but most likely "died" (since Lu Guang was thrown out) in the original events, which was still visible for Lu Guang in the unaltered photo.

I mentioned this in the post about s2 - the interesting thing is that Xu Shanshan's phone, as shown in s2, does not have a single photo from May to the end of October (current events with unknown date), which is quite. Strange.

All the murders had to happen with the similar style and certain time frame that they could be connected as a series. Given the news about Xu Shanshan: it was written - no new murders had occurred for several weeks (数周未出现新的受害者), which fits the September-October period (s1 ends at October 23). So we know for sure that the last cases with unspecified months should have occurred in September.

So. Obtaining financial information as a goal does not make sense, "someone" studies our main characters at the "perfect time", and all the dates are intertwined and have inaccurate implications. Like, almost half a year was literally “stolen” from time? Or something similar. The dates are so deliberately strange that I am speculating solely that time was broken from this point already, not even in s2 - what happened can only be speculated for now until we are told the background of Lu Guang's story. And who is the real 7th victim if April and September are mixed up, and the time has been “changed”. The funny thing is that everything also connected to the birthdays: April 15th - Cheng Xiaoshi's birthday September 16th - Qian Jin's birthday October 23th - the day Lu Guang was stabbed, exactly before his birthday Maybe I understand something incorrectly and I'm going down the wrong path altogether. No conclusions. My CPU is blown up. Thank you @wrathyforest for discussing this with me, trying to find connections, completing everything with time points, you are the best!

alrighty, few thoughts on the sneak peek "Enemy of my Enemy" (also if you're someone who's already watched the leaks don't comment, you'll be blocked. Thank you.)

people were speculating that this was Silco wrapped up in a bow, but I'm positive that it's just Fishbones. you can kinda tell by the overall shape of it, the tail by Jinx's right arm has points on the top and bottom, and the head is by Jinx's left and is larger. So she's probably just trying to hide the thing that she just bombed the council with. Also Silco's a pretty tall individual so unless she has him bent in half or something there's no way she's carrying him. (I also put a screenshot from ep 9 just to compare the two)

Jinx's makeup is still streaked on her face so this is implying that this is happening pretty quickly after she fires Fishbones. but what's Interesting is that Smeech (i believe that's his name) says "They want you alive" but i don't think it has to do with Caitlyn and the Enforcers Yet, but it actually has to do with Jayce and wanting Silco to hand over Jinx from back in ep 9, and news of that made its way to the Undercity. and they're reaction to Jinx saying "when i killed him" makes me believe that they didn't even know that Silco had passed yet. So them ambushing Jinx to me means they were looking to get back at Silco and they knew Jinx was a weak point for him.

On the other hand, i was right about this scene not happening during Caitlyn and Vi's fight vs Jinx in the temple (okay, we still don't have complete confirmation that Caitlyn's there the two stills that i mentioned in other posts just connects those dots for me). Initially i thought that the fog/smog/whatever wasn't quite dark enough to match, and it appears i was correct in that assumption.

But it appears as though Jinx and Sevika are going to have a "Enemy of my Enemy is my friend" sorta relationship in S2. despite the two's animosity towards each other, the two were still loyal to Silco.

But that does leave me with one thought... this scene from the teaser:

I do not believe that this is happening immediately after this clip; for a couple of reasons. One when Sevika shoots the hat, Jinx looks just about as surprised as everyone else in the scene; like she wasn't expecting Sevika to be there at all, she was by herself up until then. The person next to Jinx seems to be a kid and the other crime lords aren't there anymore. Also if you slow it down and rewatch it, Jinx has her handgun back on her hip. and Jinx has built Sevika's uhhh "piranha arm" and they're probably just having her test it out or something and Smeech is working with them at that point.

So yea just me on my nonsense just yapping as usual. But that's all for now until more Legitimate stuff comes from the Arcane team. bye!

This might sound overly dramatic, but I'm so sad and disappointed right now because of all those horrible leaks. I know they still might be false, but honestly I believe that save for some details, they are mostly true. There are few things that sadden me the most :

1. Helaemond not being canon. I know that this ship has been controversial, especially among TG, but it really had a lot of potential and was one of my favourite (still is). And I don't care what antis say, there were a lot of hints and undertones in s1 about helaemond, more than for Alicole and look, Alicole apparently becomes canon in the worst possible way. Which brings me to the second point -

2) Alicole being canon. Don't get me wrong. I like this pairing, but it would be much better and more in character if they never acted on their feelings. Not to mention that two sex scenes in ep 1 (if the leak is true) will seem too much and out of nowhere. And to include it in B&C scene with helaena walking in on them having sex right after Jaehaerys is brutally murdered is an atrocious writing decision. F*ck you Condal and whoever is responsible for this.

3) B&C made into a joke. According to the leaks, Helaena won't be given a choice, there will be some upsetting details about getting naked the children and so on..and to have her walk in on her mom having sex with a member of a kingsguard.. Again, f*ck you Condal.

4) Aemond and the brothel madame. Why would he go to the same woman who SAed him when he was 13? And he obviously felt uncomfortable around her in ep 9. And to make him cry while naked in fetal position...I also read on reddit that they will include a mommy kink with breast sucking and whatnot... but this seems way too much and is probably someone's shitty headcanon. At least I hope it is, because if true I'll vomit.

And this is only the first episode. Idk, if this turns out to be true, I'll probably stop watching and it sucks since I really like this universe and was excited about s2. Two years of waiting and for what.. Not only the shortened season but also all this garbage. We'll see in few days, I guess, but I'm not hopeful. Anyway, thanks for reading my rant. I would love to hear your opinion on this.

See it's a kind suggestion from me very sweetly that it's better if you are not expecting something high from makers n watching it without any expectations because if we are hating just because they did some ships wrong then acc to that alot of changes were already done since s1, like Rhaenicent , Larys alot of things but we never had problems.

Listen I am kinda sad also but you know what..... be happy because you know Ewan and Phia are shipping helaemond🥰. They acknowledging it , loving it and adding some own elements to this ship is really amazing of them moreover just for a fan service.

Like "do it for helaemond" 😭 they are so adorable. See I knew very well that it's not gonna happen, I had a very less surity and that's how exactly it turned out.

But you know what not a single ship is going to have any good romantic future 😂 either all of them even Daemyra main centre couple is not being done well by the makers. What can you expect for others ?

because I knew helaemond had lit ceslu potential but it has to be done correctly and Ik hotd makers would ruin it or make it bad even if it was shown canon look at Alicole now. So being non canon yet addressed by makers and actors who specially said they would act on it for fan service is a kind of little serve.

To me it's like I won ( but at what cost 😭😅) but also winning well wasn't there on cards ever. Every ship is going to be destroyed by makers. see what they did with Helaegon(ik it wasn't any good already) but like I am crying on leaks ( I thought atleast this s2 helaegon would be done but better for Aegon's sake but no😭)

All ships barely are going to have small amount of time without any romantic bullshit, just in one or two scene then seperating apart n dying 😂☠️ as I said earlier so to me Ewan phia trying their own things for helaemond in background in genuinely a small cake😂. One thing I really hate that you know they gave Juan and Cesare arcs to Aegon n Aemond making their pair up way intresting to watch. I really wish that Helaena was given the same authority or bit of freedom of exploring herself like Alicent. Sorry if someone as strictly religious like Alicent can do it then it was way easy for Heleana. And whole Borgias recreate would have been so interesting to watch.

I wish I could see Helaena scolding, shouting at Aemond for starting all this shit n hating Aegon for being a useless father after b&c. There should be a sense of of cheating or fraud when she sees her mother who claims to be a religious person but doing everything against it while she had to suffer her whole life with bad marriage.

Not seeing her any active is what which annoys me so much.

they gave her dreamer arc for Nothing just being ignored by her important family members.Phia should be awarded for her acting n carrying heleana despite of their dirty writing.

The thing is Helaemond would have been a shock and surprise more fitting for audience, making Helaena active with this part instead of doing Alicent dirty an don't even ask how I am feeling about Helaena catching Alicent and Cole . It was sooo😭🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️😑

And most ironically funny thing is that same thing happened with Borgias, Cesare and lucrezia were not canon initially and never meant for canon, both actors said we will just play into into it but when I rumours started later runners had no choice to make it canon for later season 😂

So never loose hope or stop loving or hyping any of your ship or helaemond I would say because Ryan can pull any stunt any time. The way he is going I don't think he gives much f about book canon, he is doing anything he wants😂😂

So who knows... if he ever liked Helaemond he can pull it anytime 😂(I m not kidding) bcz Alicole fucking specially between b&c since s1 is so ooc I could not even describe. I am not even hardcore FNB fan but they quite messed up Alicole angst and guilt arc which could have been so beautiful. It's so inconsistent with their parts from S1 like what ?🤦🏻‍♀️

And I hate that blood & cheese should have been how Helaena is suffering instead I am afraid whole light will be thrown on Criston/Alicent fucking reveal.

Atleast there is so much for Helaemond content and on other hand my other ship Rhaemond is literally carried by lil warriors Leo and Eva 😭 on their shoulder with that one scene for all seasons. I never gonna see them interact again😿.

And yes I also hate how Aemond is sent to back his abuser. Like they could have used any other female if they have to show his milf attraction or some kind of guilt kink something but not his groomer. It sucks he is finding comfort in her arms. Like these show runners forgot how all these characters were exactly in season1 bc such changes r so😭

Overall I would say don't leave the show just in terms for ships to be endgame as not a single ship is going to have any happy ending or any romantic drive in HOTD main focus will be on Rhaenyra, Alicent getting depressed and Daemon will be haunted 😭 but still it's your choice in the end😅 I am no one to say anything.

Now I am mainly watching for Aegon & Aemond n how other new entries like Alys, Alyn, Cregan or Addam are gonna introduced ( well who knows if Daeron is also gets his Cameo in the end )

if I am being honest just like the way I started this show after reading book without having any great expectations. It works better that way and may be for Ewanphia Crumbs for few secs if they don't cut their scenes of which I have very much doubt.

I will never stop being baffled by the choice to show post time skip Alicent as that cruel to Rheanyra,that determined to take her down to the point that she’s attacking a child with a knife and hitting her own son when he says he doesn’t want to usurp lmao to then in episode 8 and 9 suddenly thats all gone,she’s unaware a coup was even being planned, she’s shocked by it all. The only way that works is if she’s fully just dumb as fuck. The writers only did that because they are so insistent on the idea of reconciliation between the two of them and its quite literally impossible to write and falling so flat because no human being would want to even look at the person who did half of that to them. Its why the scenes are strange in season 2,these character have child murders and decades of hate and abuse to hold against each other but the show writes it like they’re a mix of 14 year old girls from ep 1/emma and olivia in an interview. I truly think this idea they have of their relationship is where 80% of the writing issues with both leaks come from,they are bending over backwards so write nonsense that emotionally feels dishonest to the characters.

The other major writing problem is the prophecy,now thats some insane thing to suddenly in season 2 make the most important thing ever. Truly as a daemyra shipper we had it much better than I expected but in most other things the show went so off the rails and for making the strangest most unnecessary choices.

hard agree on the first point and the prophecy shit is so fucking irritating and frustrating and hair tearing out inducing lmaooooo like. especially (apparently) having daemon fall in line due to ugly ass stupid ass prophecy weirwood vision and not because u know. the whole season was building up to that moment of realisation that internal growth not some dumb fucking external ice zombies are coming and the targaryens are suddenly moving for the greater good bullshit. just making that fucking thing such an essential plot point is just deeply baffling like. don't they remember how fucking underwhelming and anticlimactic and plain shit the whole affair was? how everyone fucking hated it? stoppp reminding us 😭

Based on my analysis of Robby's Hero's Journey, the end of s5 was the end of stage 9 of the 12-stage Hero's Journey. This was also the end of Act 2 in the 3-act story structure.

Stages 10, 11, and 12 are left in Robby's Hero's Journey (and in Johnny's).

s6 is 3 parts, 5 episodes each.

As I mentioned in my post, Robby's Journey coincides with a lot of the story major beats in each season and in the overall story.

Given the pacing and length of the story and and the writers claims that they specifically wrote s6 as 3 distinct parts/mini-seasons, it's possible that each part of s6 is a remaining stage in the Hero's Journey.

S6 Part 1

Stage 10. The Road Back - The hero returns to the original world and sees the light at the end of the tunnel, but they are about to face even more tests and challenges.

"[One] version of step ten sees the hero returning to their ordinary world, believing that the adventure is over. It seems like the hero has defeated the Shadow because the Reward has been claimed. This false sense of security creates the massive fake-out you're setting up! This scene often shows the hero and the remaining cast of characters at peace, feeling safe and secure."

The description for the start of Season 6 that was recently released said this:

"Picking up with Cobra Kai eliminated from the Valley, our senseis and students must decide if and how they will compete in the Sekai Taikai — the world championships of karate."

We, the audience, know that Kreese and Cobra Kai are lurking in the background, regrouping. "Our senseis and students" don't know this yet. They believe Cobra Kai is truly defeated, so they have a false sense of security because of this victory. They had taken part in the Sekai Taikai trials to stop Cobra Kai from spreading, so they're now wondering if they will compete in the tournament. They had each also finished the season on a seemingly positive note, but a lot is left unresolved for them individually and in their relationships. The writers have said in different interviews that things are not resolved between the characters, the rivalries haven't been explored, and all the feelings are still there.

It's likely that s6 part 1 will shatter the false sense of security that the senseis and the students have, both in the larger plot with Cobra Kai as well as in their individual journeys, and bring to light unresolved issues. For example, Kreese plays a crucial role in Johnny's and Robby's journeys and the exploration of generational trauma in the storyline connecting them. Kreese will be making his return and joining Cobra Kai. Also, Robby will have a confrontation with Kenny early on, it seems. Kenny also plays an important role in Robby's Hero's Journey.

S6 Part 2

Stage 11. The Resurrection - The climax. Also known as the "dark night of the soul". The hero faces a final test, using everything they have learned to take on the conflict once and for all.

Based on news and leaks, it sounds like the Sekai Taikai takes place in Part 2. This makes sense, the story is coming to a head. The main final battle, the climax, will be in this stage/set of episodes. I had said in my post (a few months ago, before we had confirmation about the 3- part, 15 ep final season):

Robby's Hero's Journey is coming to a head. The climax, aka the Resurrection, is around the corner. From my analyses, the other characters' journeys are converging at this climax.

S6 Part 3

Stage 12. The Return - The hero brings their knowledge or the "elixir" back to the ordinary world.

Some of the recent leaked images of the final scenes that were filmed are speculated to be in (mid) part 3. Those pics indicate something like "the elixir" being brought back by Johnny and Daniel and shared with the "ordinary world". Of course, those are just a few pics, and there are 5 episodes, but the point is that there are 5 episodes after the Sekai Taikai. The story doesn't just end with the tournament, as the movies did. These episodes will likely give the story a proper denouement/resolution to the storylines (or as proper as perceived by the writers).

Of course, we don't know yet what will happen in s6, but Robby's Hero's Journey having 3 stages left and season 6 having 3 distinct parts, with the Sekai Taikai coinciding with Stage 11 (The Resurrection), is telling.

Appropriately this take wasn’t on Tumblr much) that ppl were mad at Kripke and Co for taking an unforeseen “gay turn” with Frenchie’s character in S4 ..? And I’m over here with my Sherlock Holmes cap and pipe and tiny detective notebook just

trying to understand how these ppl didn’t pick up on the bipan vibes from this beautiful, majestic, so-French-he-can't-help-it butterfly.

(Also all this hand wringing about Frenchie "turning gay," te lo juro me esta eloqueciendo alaverga. Like canwenot with the bi-erasure, it’s giving Ashley telling Maeve she’s a lesbian bc is more “clear-cut” and easier to sell than bi. It’s just as insulting to call a bipan person gay as it is to call them straight. And I don’t mean like the use of gay as a catch all that a lotta us queers use sometimes interchangeably for queer, I talkin ppl acting as tho bipan isn't real and/or thinking Frenchie jumped out the closet as a gay man 3/4 of the way thru the show.)

And their confusion over this has got me confused. Like I didn’t even realize it was such a plot twist until I got on Reddit and a lotta ppl were screaming like Ned Stark's head just got cut off, or like it's some wild-ass writer's room shenanigans where the character is suddenly a diff person for no discernible reason. Like have you seen this man? Do you know where you are? Bc they’ve been dropping hints throughout the show. Case in point:

b) this time he planted a fat smooch on Hughie’s face after finding out he leaked the compound V tip to the press (bonus points for his attempt to make out with mm before getting a no-homo hard pass)

c) this deep, abiding love of The Golden Girls this is unequivocally the gayest thing on the list

d) how he turned tricks in mad NYC before Little Nina locked that mf in a chastity belt and held him hostage by his penis he went to ‘work’ for Nina. -> Disclaimer: this is not to imply that queer ppl’s participation in sex work is bc they’re hypersexual. This is here to point out queer coding, as lgbtqia+ ppl are more at-risk for mental health issues stemming from severe trauma, food and housing insecurity, and addiction, often without access to the care they need to recover. So sex work becomes a viable vocation to survive bc unlike a regular 9-5, it’s more conducive to untreated mental health issues and substance use also it’s an easier market to get into than arms dealing or contract killing

How do you think the timeskip for season 5 is going to work? (I forgot how many years, is it two or three??) Is The Crawl going to begin (after the flashback ofc) in 1988-9 or is it going to start in 1986 and later on do the timeskip?

If it's the first option, would they say Vecna is dormant/recharging/healing during those years? How could the military cover up a town broken in four for so long? I don't think they could force a sense of normalcy onto the people who'll remain in Hawkins. I say that bc of the bts pics and clips that show the Party at the school hallways and at the cafeteria -they're obvs there because Hawkins High continued to be an emergency shelter, right? not because they'll have been forced to pretend everything's "normal" and continue to attend school in the middle of a dimensional clash, right?? (that'd be both too sad and hilarious fr 😭)

The second option is also wonky to imagine, but then again, the episode length might allow something ike that. What do you think?

i saw people saying it must be fall 1989 since one of those cds from a set came out in august 1989 but if it was fall 1989 the kids would be graduated

their senior year is 88-89. if it was fall 89 they'd be graduated and we've clearly seen them at school

i remember seeing people say the first 2 eps pick up immediately after the end of s4 but i don't think there's any proof for that

and i'm assuming since they've been big on saying s5 will have s1 vibes that it'll take place in fall/november, but i doubt it'll be fall 1986

then there's that leaked hospital report about karen saying it happened in summer 1987, so s5 being fall 1987 would make the most sense since every other season has had a 1 year change

I wanted to ask what are your predictions regarding the second season of HotD? We saw the trailer and having in mind all the theories, "leaks" and most of all, season 1 and some of the decisions the writers had made, I must admit I'm not very optimistic. Also, some of the scenes in the trailer made me think about it more, e. g. what if Alicent continues to somehow justify Rhaenyra and behave like she did in episodes 8 and 9, as in, being disappointed with her children, pining for Rhaenyra (not necessarily in a romantic way, I for one never saw anything romantic between them, but still) and regretting her decision to make Aegon king. Idk, it could really sour her character to me, even though she was one of my favourites. Another thing is that nude Aemond scene because I'm pretty sure that's with the brothel madame from ep 9 and I hate it. Especially if somehow the reason turns out to be Luke's death and he needs the comfort of an older, motherlike figure (the same woman who basically SAed him if we go by that scene with her in s1) because his own mother berated him. It would be too weird and distasteful. Finally, there are rumours about Dyanna being the one to help Mysaria with b&c, Rhaena getting Nettles storyline, Rhaenyra becoming Visenya... Finally, 9ne3 of the things I really want to see is a complex, but ultimately strong relationship between Aegon and Aemond, but I dare not hope.

ummmm yeah wrt to alicent, the trailers do make it seem like she's against the violence and the war, but ali has always been against murder and violence so that's not surprising. i do think that because they're trying to keep b&c as this big plot twist we haven't seen post-b&c alicent yet. so we'll have to wait and see.

wrt to aemond and the brothel scene... i think it was confirmed that this was the madam from s1? i'm also very uncomfortable with this... just... no.

if they'll try to frame b&c as this gurlboss moment i will scream and rage. helaena and her kids never did anything to deserve this. the rhaena and nettles situation - if it's true, then actually fuck this show. nettles and rhaena have absolutely nothing in common. NOTHING. and if y'all can find me ONE thing that they have in common i will go back on my words.

Phee's Reaction to Non and Keng makes Perfect sense for the Character

And he's have felt very fairy-godfatherly if he had reacted any different.

Let's step back a bit, into Phee's shoes. Give up, for a moment, your omniscient knowledge of events as a viewer, and work only with the information and emotions of Phee, a 15/16 year old teenager. He's not an adult and not mature, so we will not judge his emotional response as such. He is also, far more privileged than Non, be it socially, financially, or in regard to his relationships with his family and his mental health. So, we shall keep that in mind.

Phee has no family pressuring him to prove himself, rather, from how politely his father talked to him in ep 9 despite having to cover for him in the accounts case (something which will anger any reasonable parent upon finding out their child was involved in illegal dealings), we can see he is fully secure in the knowledge that his father will back him up whenever he needs him to. His father probably also knows and is okay with the fact that his son is gay.

He is also charismatic, enough to wheedle into this friend group probably years after its formation and still have acquired enough authority to make them do something they didn't want to (the film) and take charge immediately after the fall of Por. He's also physically strong. That makes it extremely unlikely that he had ever been bullied or had to deal with bullying, and if you've never dealt with it, you don't know how hard it is for the victim.

Lastly, his family is not shown to be struggling and he is mentally sound (so far as we're shown).

Non is his boyfriend, who was, prior to the leak of the video, abnormally close to his teacher, enough for Phee to question Non about this. Despite reassurances, the doubt never went away. Phee asks Non, as any good boyfriend would, if he needs help, and Non says no.

And then the video drops. Phee is angry enough as is, as anybody, especially a teenager already frustrated with his boyfriend's secrecy would be, but then he catches him embracing the same teacher.

Again, I would reiterate that Phee is

1) a 15-year old child with the emotional and logical range of a 15-year old sheltered teenager,

2) not shown to be particularly taken with global scale activism which would be the only way he'd figure out, logically (and I would argue logic is not at the forefront of your mind when anger is the reigning emotion), that Non was being exploited.

Considering the response of the Thai public to the video and the fact that Keng wasn't immediately fired, the situation is not considered 'exploitive' by social standards. It seems to be taken for granted that the relationship was consensual. Coming from a country with similar values, let me tell you that students marrying their teachers is considered 'romantic' where I live. Heck, in my school, there was a teacher who flirted with some select students all the time, and was never fired. He was actually very popular, and it wasn't until years after I left school that I realized how problematic that was. It was not something we were taught, socially, was predatory.

Phee would have to be involved in global level activism, to see others from vastly different backgrounds talk about how problematic this behavior is, to realize that his perception of the situation was warped.

So, back to the video leak. Phee watches the video, and gets emotional fast. Despite his patience with Non thus far, he is not Buddha (if he were, he'd not have gotten involved in New's scheme). He sees proof of all his fears being proven true, and then sees, with his own eyes, further proof of the same. Of course he lashes out. Of course he leaves, because I suspect had he stayed, Keng would have gotten a lot more bruises, and not much talking would have been done.

Of course he says what he does to Non, from the innate urge to hurt him just how much he himself was hurting. In that moment, he may very well have used his knowledge of Non's insecurities and mental health issues to pointedly attack Non, because he is not thinking beyond his own hurt. And if you think you'd have reacted any differently, you're probably too old to remember what it felt like to be a teenager.

And of course he blocks Non.

If this were a reddit post, this is what it would read like:

"AITA for blocking my boyfriend after watching a video of him being intimate with his teacher, who he assured me repeatedly he was not involved with?"

Fill in the rest with Phee's knowledge of the situation (I do not think he knows about the mafia or the money he got from Keng or the true extent of the group's bullying; correct me if I am wrong) and tell me the replies, even from you, wouldn't be a resounding "Well Done!"

He finds out about a lot of things from reading Non's script, but the breakup was long before that. And I don't feel it right to blame him for a normal teenage reaction to his first relationship imploding in such a way.

Not when Chay from Kinnporsche was lauded for the same reaction.
