Once again, I am crying about Luke Skywalker specifically through the lens of how he is the child of a genocided people and he can study all the books and Temples he finds, but he will have so few of his people to actually talk to, to listen to their stories face to face, to hear their living history from their own mouths with their own words, his history. There's a unique trauma of realizing that everyone who was supposed to have been there for you has been murdered because of how they were born, that you were meant to be part of a community and those people were murdered for the same thing that lives on in you, that the people who were meant to be there for you as aunts and uncles and cousins were murdered for everything that you're now living for. They're all just gone and you're alone when you were meant to have a thousand people ready to teach you and watch you grow and learn. That's what Luke Skywalker lives through--the child of an entire people gone because they were genocided nearly out of existence entirely.

There's some delicious irony in the fact that Vader is like the one person in the galaxy Aphra actually didn't betray. He backstabbed her first and then she had the audacity to survive getting thrown out an airlock.
