✶ more art of Lady Eos ✶
This one was sort of spontaneous, I saw an ai generated image of Lady Eos and decided to redraw it out of spite haha . ( I heavily dislike ai out of obvious reasons, but seeing ai generated images of gods always gets me extra frustrated, especially when it's supposed to show gods that usually get overshadowed quite a bit :') )
The " original's " background made absolutely no sense in my eyes so I basically redid the entire thing . I changed her pose a bit , added more flowers and fixed her dress , as looking at the " og " one gave me a headache /hj . I also fixed the wings and changed them to be those of a swallow, since Lady Eos / other deities associated with dawn & morning is sometimes shown with them . The lighting is a lot more weird looking than I had hoped but oh well .

A poem for Eos, Helios and Selene
I sing of early-born Eos, whose cloak is of sweet dew
Who runs her rosy-fingered hand trough the sky as the day begins anew
Casting away darkness and dispelling murky gloom
As the choirs of birds sing her praises and flowers get ready to bloom
Soft-winged goddess, mother of the morning star
Shining from among the clouds, smiling at the world from afar
I sing of Helios, crowned in rays, who rides trough the sky pulled by fiery steeds
From his glorious chariot he watches over mankind’s deeds
Those who do evil he punishes with red-hot rage, he burns to smoke and ash their wicked smiles
Those who do good he rewards with a gladdened heart, helping them trough their journeys as he watches over their lives
For he is the golden mirror of justice who makes all reap what they sow
Wether it be for better or for worse
His warm smile charms countless nymph’s hearts and makes trees bear fruit
As the flower-faced Horae hold hands and dance to his lyre’s tune
I sing of bull-horned Selene, nightly queen, decked in stars
She who weaves together days and makes time come to pass
Lover of peace and of tranquil sleep, a friend to dark-haired Nyx and Hypnos of the soothing voice
Morpheus and his train of countless dreams make her silver heart rejoice
Keeper of the late hours and their secrets, a companion to those who feel lost
For even in the darkest of moments she kindly stretches forth her luminous torch
I sing of you three, children of Hyperion and Theia, gods most high
Trough day and night, trough dusk and dawn, I pray that you shed light unto my path
Lucid ministers of Chronos, show me that which flees my sight
Reveal to me the worlds which exist around me and guide me trough the ones within my heart

Heliogenna
~ 15-23 Poseideon or 19-20 Poseideon ~
Heliogenna observes the family of Helios as the winter solstice takes place. The Sunset celebrates closings of seasons and time, The Night and observance of the dead and The Sunrise and celebration of victory and Helios's return from the Underworld as he mourns his son, Phaethon.
It is notable that Heliogenna is not an Ancient Festival. In Ancient Greece there was no solstice celebrations. One can choose to celebrate only ancient days, or incorporate modern festivals into their practice as well. As a time of year with many holidays (such as Christian Christmas, Jewish Hanukkah or Celtic Yule) you might wish to be included in the celebration your own way.
Heliogenna was created by Hector Lugo in the early 2010s. His blog is deactivated, though we know Heliogenna has been celebrated for at least six years.
Heliogenna can be celebrated in two distinct modern ways: a Two-Day Festival or a Nine-Day Festival. It is up to you which you choose to observe, or even incorporate both into your practice.
Two-Day Festival
The Two-Day Heliogenna celebration takes place on the Winter Solstice. The first day (The Sunset) observes the solstice day as the shortest day of the solar year. It is noted as a day of gratitude.
Look back upon your previous Gregorian Year and show your thanks to the gods. Commonly, Helios, Selene, Eos and Hestia are celebrated these days.
If you choose to put up a tree, decorate it on the light of this day.
Due to the observation of festival days beginning at the dusk of once day, begin your day two celebration at nightfall. This is when you would observe the longest night of the year.
Celebrated dusk to dawn The Night shows thanks to Helios, Hekate, Hades, Persephone and Hermes as you put to rest the previous year and look to the future. Take this time to remember, end and transition into a new light.
The tone itself this night is somber as Helios goes to the house of Persephone. Rebirth is thought of this time. It is notable to burn last Heliogenna's decorations now.
The Second day (The Sunrise) begins at dawn, as is the day after the solstice, the first day of winter. Observe victory, hope and renewal this dawn. Helios and the Protogonoi are to be celebrated this morning.
This morning is noted as joyous. Bell-ringing is encouraged! If you exchange gifts this is a good time to do so. Cook a big feast and celebrate with family and friends as you bring in good-luck and cheer into the new solar year.
Nine-Day Festival
During this take on Heliogenna, the solstice is observed in the fifth day. The first three days are seen as the Sunset, second three the Night and final three Sunrise. Many of the same observations of the Two-Day Festival here.
Eight candles can be lit this observance, with no lighting of candles during the Night.
Traditional Offerings:
Incense
Libations
Color-Associated Candles
Meals
Bonfires/Fires
Orange Ornaments
Heliogenna Cookies
Traditional Acts:
Cooking a large feast for family and friends
Burning candles for the Gods
Hymns to Helios, Hestia, Selene, Eos, Hekate, Hades, Persephone, and Hermes
Libations to Helios, Hestia, Selene, Eos, Hekate, Hades, Persephone, and Hermes
Burning of past ornaments of Heliogenna
Celebration!
Khaire Helios and happy Heliogenna!

feeling called to eos, helios, and selene all together - which is a little daunting to begin worship for three deities at once, but at the same time, i get the feeling they want to be worshipped in conjunction of each other.

A god to consider: Eos
🌅🌅🌅🌅🌅🌅🌅🌅🌅🌅
One of the lesser known of the second generation of the titans, eos was born of the river Okeanos, rising from it to become the embodiment of dawn. She is the sibling of Helios and Selene, the daughter of Hyperion and Theia. She had a varacious lust for handsome young Greeks, (relatable) a curse laid upon her by Aphrodite. Of her many lovers, including other gods like Orion, it was a human man she ultimatley settled on, the Trojan prince Tithonus. As she fell in love with him, she soon realized he would die a mortal, and made a plea to Zeus to grant him immortality. Zeus, being the trifling bastard he is, granted him immortality, but tricked her by not granting him eternal youth, which she neglected to specify, causing him to ultimatley age until he turned into a grasshopper! Many of her other lovers suffered deaths of various reasons, some at the hands of Artemis, one by Achilles. Although she had bad luck in love, she still rises every morning to this day, searching for another young man to fawn upon…
If you wish to learn more about this goddess who deserves more praise by modern hellenists, please consider investing in reading the following articles and stories, and if you want to see more Hellenic posts like this, consider giving me a follow! Have a blessed day 🏛️💙

☽☾ The Early Lightbringer ☽☾
FINALLY managed to get this drawing of Lady Eos done , and it sure took a lot out of me but I'm glad I got to finish it in her honor <3
This drawing depicts my take on the goddess , titaness & embodiment of dawn , Lady Eos . I gave her flowers in her hair, mainly roses & crocuses, a pitcher with water alluding to dew , and a star of light over her head , connecting to her two sons Lord Eosphorus ( the morning star ) & Lord Hesperos ( the evening star ). I tried to base her wings on Swallows ( at least in shape ) , and her colors are based on the dawn lighting up the night sky, which you can hopefully recognize in the back . I kinda wish I could've added a bit more in terms of jewelry but I'm content with it now , don't want to mess it up . The earrings are based on the sun & the moon , as a nod to her siblings <3
Since the goddess Lady Selene is my matron goddess, I try to honor her direct , beloved siblings Lady Eos & Lord Helios every chance I get , and I thought a devotional drawing was the perfect idea ! I really hope Lady Eos likes it , and hope you'll do too !

POV: you see your heretical 8 year old son in the street
Art of my Tav Athanasius as a child (with the simplest fucking background I could throw together, I hate backgrounds). He is my blorbo and I love rotating him in my head.
In drawing this piece I was thinking about if elf children are like kittens and have extra big ears that they have to grow into. Also his freckles extend to his ears and this brings me a lot of joy.
The backstory behind this piece, if anyone is interested:
His parents were Lathander worshippers and friends and patrons of Rosymorn monastery. His mother had actually switched to Lathander's faith when marrying his father, and originally worshipped the traditional god of the elves, even though elvish had barely been passed down in the family after several generations of living in Baldur’s gate.
They had promised to send their second son to join the monastery when he was old enough to make the journey with some traders. When this son was born they even named him after one of the great figures in the church of Lathander, the Monk known as Athanasius i confessoris, or Athanasius the confessor, known to the elves as Athanasius an aidmheil.
But Athansius felt uneasy about being shipped off to the monastery, as he did not feel a strong faith towards Lathander, and did not want to give up his freedom. But whenever he and his parents had passed the temple of Tymora in the upper city he felt a strange pull towards the image of the smiling lady.
So a few days before his planned departure he ran away from home in the middle of the night and turned up on the temple of Tymora’s doorstep. The high priest found him asleep there the next morning and when he pleaded to be allowed to join the temple as an initiate he told him that there is no reward without risk, and asked if he was willing to be tested.
The test of whether a child is favoured by Tymora, is that they are brought into a room in the inner sanctum of the temple and seated before a blind priestess, who quickly makes a neat, diagonal cut across the child’s face with a fine, delicate knife. If she misses the eyes and marks the center, it is a sign that the child is favoured by Tymora and will be able to rise high in the ranks of the temple. If the left eye is damaged, they can still join, but will be more limited in station. If the right eye is cut, they are refused entry, and sent instead to the temple of Ilmater to be taken in there, so that the crying one can protect them from Beshaba’s influence.
Athanasius passed the test and joined the temple as an initiate. Being marked in this way also helped to deter thieves or kidnappers when the children were out at market or playing in the streets, because favourable luck was so crucial to successful crime that most criminals would avoid harming a child of Tymora and angering her.
It was perhaps this ritual that angered his parents to the point of disowning him entirely, since the monastery would never accept a child marked by another temple, and the style of cut was distinctive.
The first time they glimpsed him in public (after looking for him for weeks) his father ran up to him with relief and grasped him by the shoulders, only to look into his face and realize what he had done. Initially, he was furious and started shouting, but then he appeared to calm down and was simply like, come Elena, I was mistaken; this child is not our son. And that was the last time his parents ever spoke to him; after that whenever they encountered one another in the street both parent and child would turn their faces away and pass one another in silence.
I have published the first in a series of fics featuring his time with the party on Ao3, called “A Servant of Tymora” ^^
