Well… riot games is next in line with a huge layoff.
Massive amount of people losing their jobs in the gaming industry yet again. Over 500 from what I’ve read. What a fucking shame.
Just frightening to see how this industry is crumbling (especially if you’re trying to get a job in it like me. Feels hopeless at this point also) 😔
#we really need some sort of finances reform for the entertainment industry#the way investors have an iron grip on these industries is a catastrophe at this point#also this feeling of a completely messed up hierarchy dynamic like the upper line has absolute power and just mows over their workers

Can't wait for Hollywood to think it can do Dungeon Meshi better than Ryoko Kui herself 🙄
#because manga is inherently more childish and inferior to even normal books right? And anime doesn't belong in the golden globes#so if we adapt that to the the pinnacle of human entertainment which is live action people would finally experience the story#the way it was meant to be enjoyed :)))#lets also make marcille straight! for our american investors-I mean for the foreign audiences of course :)#dungeon meshi#gae-bolg writes shit

i think the "several years of carefully calculated hype-milking" type of game advertisement should be banned.
i want that games are announced when they are actually already or in near future ready to be released.
i want that game advertisement is one or two trailers and maybe a demo, rather than years of teasers to make game to be more anticipated than it actually would be.

Insider pov on Interim Agreements
“I am elated that SAG-AFTRA, my union since 2012, has now joined this righteous war against the Silicon Valley parasites who have infected AMPTP. The streaming system is on the verge of collapse, and thank God for that. The techie invasion has transformed Hollywood into a boring, algorithmic franchise factory run by metrics obsessed losers. They have adopted the broken Uber model of spending countless billions while driving themselves and everyone around then into insolvency, wages and working conditions be damned. To the average tech oligarch, everything is “content.” A movie, a TV show, a TikTok, an Amazon review, an AI generated blogpost, an Instagram reel, a song - it’s all the same. Their goal is clear: to remove humanity from the humanities, and they must be defeated by an means necessary. I am proud to march on the picket line every day for worker’s rights.”

“I still find that my theater training serves me probably better than anything else in my background. For me, future-ready is what I learned, preparing for performances, which is to do all of your homework behind-the-scenes.” Regan Robinson’s FutureFit with yours truly #lma24 #lmamkt
Regan Robinson and Roy Sexton, Director of Marketing at Clark Hill (ME!), delve into how his background in theater equips him with what’s needed to be future ready, and why his diverse passions provide a rich framework for seeing its possibilities. They explore the misconceptions about authenticity (which inherently promotes a long-term perspective), and how authentic leadership must be nurtured…

Dragons' Den
I get a kick out of the tonal differences between the US, British, Australian and Canadian versions of the show.
Literally everywhere outside of Canada, it feels like the producers' mandate was to produce a neverending torrent of pure, concentrated cringe, for the express purpose of fueling the watchers' own, personal Streisand Effect. Show anyone six or seven inventions that have no real purpose, fix no real issue but come from persons who sank their heart and soul into them, and then laugh mercilessly. Laugh for twenty-five minutes straight, plus commercials.
Oh, and occasionally add in a cogent pitch or two, just so your local Dragons get to look all business-savvy for all of four or five minutes.
I mean, I've seen some dumb shit in YouTube excerpts from the American, British and Australian editions, but I always had the sense that the creators involved at least tried to articulate something. There's teachable moments by the dozens in there, but I'm guessing mockery fuels watch times more than seeing what seems to be more prevalent in my own editions of the show.
Up here in Canada, I can't remember seeing a single pitch that was honestly cringeworthy. We've seen pitches that were too early for seed money, too late for development-related assistance, or guys and gals that just didn't realize they were really well on their way to being successful, and just needed a few external perspectives to confirm it. We've seen projects that didn't work as presented but that were always shown to have potential if properly iterated on, and we've seen a ton of heartwarming stories involving garage-based inventors who weren't quite ready for Prime Time, but who showed a ton of potential. The worst projects the show ever presented almost all received follow-ups in post-episode capsules showing that five or six years after appearing on-stage, the entrepreneurs involved all managed to carve their own niche for themselves, big or small.
And, well, the dichotomy involved is surprising, really. You'd think the Brits, who share a temperament with their fellow Canadians, would've enforced a sense of well-meaning composure. No such luck here. You'd think the American edition, with the country's love for self-made tycoons, would've been seen as a chance for guys like Mark Cuban to really display their mentorship abilities.
It's happened a few times, sure - but not as often as I would've liked.
So what's going on with Canada and Quebec, then? Why are our editions of the show the only ones really focused on shining a light on creators that are deserving of that exposure? Why do I get the sense that we're the only ones focused on showing the hardships of running your own company, on stumbling in the formative stages and picking yourself up?
In some settings, dragons are actually wise creatures willing and able to mentor young adventurers in the finer points of developing a certain strength of character. I wish we remembered that more often, instead of watching with bated breath for who would be unlucky enough to more or less be eaten alive on-stage.

poverty is so isolating. it means being alone and away from people, events, society. you can't afford trips to and from places. you can't afford to spare gas. you can't afford the entrance fee. you can't afford tickets. you can't afford making eating a social event. you can't buy drinks. you can't engage in hobbies.
all you're encouraged to do are "free" things, but they're not free. Internet isn't free. cell phone service isn't free. sitting on the computer and your phone all day is frowned upon for good reason because it destroys your health. we shouldn't have to only be able to talk to people digitally to be able to socialize. we shouldn't have to watch streams all day. we need to see other people, i DON'T care if it costs a few dollars: poor people shouldn't be relegated to what few free activities there are because most of them involve being alone.
the library is one of the most annoying suggestions because it makes you feel pinned. yes i want to support my local library. i cannot sit still and read in public. it is not socially acceptable to start taking to strangers in the library in fact you can't have conversations there at all because you need to be quiet for the other readers. libraries are places of education, accessibility to information and resources, and social services. it is not a place to socialize. maybe entertain but Only if you can, well, read. i have dissociative disorders and unmedicated ADHD, i don't make it very far into books. i feel like most poor people get really tired of the library suggestion. it's an amazing resource. but it's not for this purpose
social events are almost always off limits. sure you can go to the bar and not drink, if you don't have alcohol trauma, aren't a recovering alcoholic, aren't overstimulated by noise, aren't photosensitive, don't have anxiety with crowds and strangers, aren't a minor, have an ID, and can walk there or get a ride there. sure you can walk to the cafe and use their Wi-Fi but this isn't a social activity and in many places you can't sit there for long periods unless you buy anything.
i get SO tired of the "go to a cafe" suggestion. think about how boring that actually is. you're alone. in America, it is NOT socially acceptable to sit at a strangers table like it is in other countries, let alone just start talking to them. it is NOT a common experience to strike up a conversation with strangers in cafes in America, like we really have cafes other than fucking starbucks to begin with.
going for walks and going to parks is not accessible to people with physical disabilities, agoraphobia, some schizophrenics, people with dog trauma, and other issues. parks usually have really poorly maintained or no sidewalks or foot paths. they can be uneven and hard to traverse for people who use mobility aids. unless you live near a monument or state park, your local parks are really meant for dogs to piss and shit in, for joggers to run through, and to look impressive to investors. they're usually pathetic swaths of grass with you guessed it, nothing to do. again it's rare to strike up conversation at the park. people need conversation starters. there's Nothing going on at the park. it's a great place to go if you need to cool down when angry or stressed, but it's fucking boring.
window shopping is pointless and dehumanizing. i really can't stand it when people suggest poor people window shop so we can think about things to buy when we have money ... why the fuck would i ever do that. when i don't have money i don't think about frivolous things i don't need. what the fuck kind of activity is window shopping, that's for people who have money.
poor people get tired of doing the "free" shit. if you suggest that a poor person should do these things when you do none of them yourself, you have 0 clue how boring and dehumanizing it is to never be able to decide what you do with your time. to have limited options to live. to experience.
money is not the reason you get to experience; you get to experience because you are alive. no poor people don't deserve to sit there and do nothing all day because they didn't "earn" anything. no poor people don't deserve to live their lives because they don't make as much as you. poor people deserve to enjoy being alive. poor people get to decide to have fun with their money, too.
I'm so tired of people being so harsh on people who struggle with financial issues and spending money "right" or "smart". reckless spending and difficulty managing finances are symptoms of mental illness and neurodivergence. bipolar, personality disorders, schizophrenia, anxiety, autism, ADHD, OCD and other mental health conditions can make managing funds very hard. don't be extra cruel to someone who spends money poorly in response to a mental health crisis. this won't make their situation any easier.
i sat in apartment after apartment for a decade doing nothing. i was a total shut in because i had no money. i never did anything but browse the Internet. all day long. without end. i was dissociating constantly. my anxiety was at its highest. i was constantly psychotic. instead of going out to fix it, i would stay inside longer, making it worse and worse and worse. i never bought anything. i didn't have hobbies. all of my decorations and possessions were from my childhood, my clothes were literally falling apart, a decade old. my walls were barren. my world was grey.
don't do this to yourself. don't tell yourself that you deserve nothing because it's harder for you to make money than other people. I'm very lucky now that i have made friends who pulled me out of my shell and have helped me get outside of my house. i spent so long alone and trapped indoors thinking it's the only thing i could do with myself for years. I'm finally recovering. if you're poor you deserve to live. you're alive. and you're not alone. i love you.

“You’re such a Dick” is taken as a far more devastating insult than “you’re such a dick!”
Why? No one wants to admit it. They’re all stubborn, petty siblings. And if there’s one thing siblings hate, it’s always being compared to the other. They all spent the first half of their lives trying to live upto Dick, to be him and then spent their latter halves living as far apart.
The first time, Tim lets it slip to Jason is when they were at a warehouse, Jason checking in on everyone over the comms after a vicious gang takedown, and the amount of concern and checking up he was doing made a half-conscious and definitely concussed Tim blurt out: You’re such a Dick.
The horrified pause that followed before Jason clicked off was enough to make Tim realise the extent of damage he’d done. Red Hood spends the next two months gunfighting, taking over the underworld and dealing in shady illegal hands before he even shows up to the mansion again.
Tim got his karma though. He was entertaining people at the gala as Timothy Drake, wooing suitors and investors, turning on the charm and rizz that left everyone swooning over him and completely enamoured. He’s trying to manipulate them to donate millions to a good cause, maybe make a few powerful connections he could use when he laughs, disentangles from the crowd and gives a charismatic wink to his followers.
He pauses, refilling his drink when he hears the disapproving tut from the shadows.
“What do you want Damian.”
“Drake. What are you doing?”
“My job, trying to make the best of a worse situation.”
“With those flirtatious compliments you gave? Drake, you made the mayor’s mother swoon.”
Tim shrugs.
“Not my fault they can’t resist my charms”
And then. Damian levels him with a scrutinising look, scowling before he mutters.
“You’re such a Dick.”
Tim doesn’t realise the glass has slipped from his fingers until he hears it shatter along with his mind.
Dick, god bless him, has no idea. He genuinely thinks that they’re fighting and the insults just get to them. However, he’s still confused why when he goes to check on them they refuse to make eye contact with him, and then disappear off the face of the planet.
