This poll is a perfect example of rhoticity in English. Rhotic accents pronounce the 'r' at the ends of words, while non-rhotic accents don't (rhoticity also involves the pronunciation of 'r' in the middle of words too so it's more complicated - but that's not relevant in this example). Rhotic English speaking accents worldwide are the majority, that's why the poll result is a landslide. The only English speaking country that has almost zero rhoticity is Australia - even England retains some regional rhoticity.
There's also the question of vowel merger in the above question. Some non-rhotic regions would pronounce the vowels in 'flaw' and 'floor' differently (for example, some non-rhotic southern U.S. accents where the homophones would be flow/floor). To answer yes in the above poll, would require a non-rhotic regional accent with the hoarse/horse merger AND the caught/court merger, which would make the choice of 'no' in the above poll even more likely.

I remember discussing Tintin casting choices with a friend from Germany and remarked how it was odd he often has an English accent in adaptations rather than a Belgian one, and my friend just replied "that's because Tintin gives incredibly strong English boy energy (derogatory)"
Here in the UK there's a lot of weird classism tied into accents. Today accent diversity and representation in broadcasting is actively pursued but in Tintin's time there certainly was a preferred accent to have.
imagine this exchange happens between pages 28-29 in The Crab with the Golden Claws

Captain Walrus Cookie
Tumblr media
AYE! Make way for the guard dog of Choco Mud Town, Captain Walrus Cookie! He kept the peace in the town for 2 decades, chasing off dangerous characters for the often neglected edge of the republic with his motley crew for no more than a few free drinks at the pub. Even so, he rarely ever got physically violent with troublemakers. More relied on careful wording and dominating size to intimidate those causing problems. Always believing words carry more weight than a punch.

if this post reaches 500 notes, i will start a podcast where i will talk about my fictional crushes in a totally unhinged manner, like britanny broski talks about masked men, traumadump without anyone asking for it, and about various topics that make my serotonin levels go brrr (mostly about art, history/culture and queer stuff), video essay-ish-style, but executed in a worst way possible

y'know... for a setting that places so much importance in Language and does so many ice cool things playing with it (Correspondence/Discordance, Parabola & Irem, etc) i think there's a bit of a missed opportunity when it comes to the terms and words people use in their day to day life... like for example:
do you think radical revolutionaries would avoid words like "enlightening" in their vocabulary and flip them for LON-appropriate counterparts to signal their beliefs?
like substituting the word "light" with "blight". lol
similarly, pet names relating to light like "sunshine" kinda have a whole extra flavour tied to them, leaning into nostalgia, melancholy and/or danger depending on the people using it. irony, even
"honey" as a pet name also has extra connotations now and might actually bother some people instead due to the association with the drug...
do you think SMEN, taboo as it is, and seeking being a recognizable phenomenon even to the common londoner, would spawn swear words and insults? (imagine the weight of telling someone to Go Seek or Fall Down a Well)
the word "well" itself. well as an adverb, interjection, adjective. just. think about it. think about what it represents. idk something is happening to this word for sure

I get asked alot where I'm from bc I don't actually have an Irish accent and it always leads to the awkward moment after bc people just dont believe me when i say "im from Ireland i grew up in county [redated]" so I've started turning the question around on people asking them where they think I'm from and it's been pretty fun in particular today when I had two workmen around at the same time one saying I sounded "vaguely American" while the other said I sounded "nuteral polite english"

Black Hat things I love:
He's simultaneously running a secret shadow organization and is a household name in the business of being a dastardly bastard
He's so spooky mysterious but he puts himself in all the commercials and starts them off like "HI IT'S ME. BLACK HAT"
There's so many fucking paintings of himself. Everywhere. He has to have done at least a few of them himself. He can absolutely see through any and all of them when he wants. He's hiding in one and laughing because nobody can find him.
He laughs too hard and does shit like this

Does he have a cockney accent, or do cockney speakers actually have a Black Hat accent? I don't think his first language is Human. It's very funny to me if while he was meandering through human languages he got to English and went "THAT one. I'm going to speak with THAT accent."
2 hat motherfucker

You know what I need? I need Batman to be minding his own business, y'know just taking part in a league meeting or being forced to (urgh) socialize. And just in the corner of his eye see one of the batkids start doing something they know they shouldn't, presumably something incredibly dangerous seeing as he gave up on stopping them from hanging from chandeliers and going out as vigilante children. .
And I need him to just suddenly having the thickest new jersey accent the other heroes have ever heard as he fusses over them when they do get hurt.

There's something so nice about hearing different accents in the One Piece Live Action cast. I'm so used in seeing shows with a diverse cast but perfect voices, so having that variety is making me so happy

Personal Dick Grayson headcanon of mine but, and bear with me here, Dick Grayson still has the sliiiiightest Romani accent when he speaks in English. Now what that would sound like I myself don’t know. But. And I say this as a bilingual that moved from her home country to live in US since I was 10 yrs old… I’ve assimilated the American accent EXTREMELY well. When I’m tired or annoyed/angry my accent can slip out a bit.
I just wanted to give that trait to Dick Grayson it brings me serotonin to think of him that way. Honestly, Dick having a second ID to protect would’ve trained it out of himself a looong time ago but in times of extreme emotion… mmm yes Romani Dick Grayson spice
