I think this is one of the most known fics in the fandom? Masterpiece, literally masterpiece. The improvement in Erik's character is beautiful and it breaks your heart how Charles is treated poorly for the first few chapters but continues to work hard because he believes Erik and the kids are his family. I love how the ending isn't rushed and how Charles is like, "Yes I love you but you still hurt me and I can't get over it so quickly." Tears. So many tears for this story.

Found a few episodes of a pretty obscure 80s weekend morning cartoon called Wildfire for my daughter. Given that it was about a 12 year old girl who discovers she’s the long lost princess in a fantasy world with access to a magic horse, I think it was aimed at the elementary school girl demographic, but I definitely remember enjoying watching it as a kid. I especially liked the catchy opening theme song. Like a number of 80s kids’ shows, there was a slightly different ending theme as the credits rolled, sometimes done, as this one was, in an electrified guitar. I think I’m gonna have to try to figure out the notes. Add a little distortion, some reverb, maybe a little synth for fullness ... :). The credits don’t say who played the ending theme or sang the opening other than saying the music was done by composer and songwriter Jimmy Webb. Speaking of famous folks, author of “The Last Unicorn” 🦄, Peter S. Cherik fanfic tropes that will never get old

The fact that nobody can quite settle on what color Erik’s eyes are. I mean, we all know what Charles’ eyes are (the bluest, most electric “jolly rancher eyes,” as they were dubbed by endingthemes), but Erik? Apparently he’s harder to pin down. Pretty sure Michael Fassbender’s eyes are blue, but I’ve seen them described so many different ways over the years. Blue, green, grey, blue-grey, blue-green, etc.

Like, Erik, are you Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds? Because you’ve got some kaleidoscope eyes there.

I’ve heard of describing eyes a bit differently depending on the emotions displayed in them (perhaps blue eyes look like “an ocean on a warm summer’s day” when affectionate, and “chips of glacial ice” when angry?), but never to that extent. I guess it depends on how you picture him. I do get a kick out of it when his eyes are in the grey-like spectrum and are described using metallic similes. A bit on the nose, yeah, but I like it.
