I understand that people might've wanted a more cutesy and/or love-based set but imo the characters chosen and the fact that those specific characters aren't truly on theme makes a lot of sense to me

For example (while I haven't actually read MMJ's story yet) Shizuku is a character who is constantly having her looks be commented on. She is the "attractive one" is the groups she's and I assume that there were points where she'd had enough of being boiled down to her physical appearance. Where she wanted to be seen as a person rather than eye candy, so her not being interested in the holiday just makes sense to me.

Same with Mizuki and Mafuyu.

Mizuki's entire life they have been called strange and have been judged for their appearance and style to the point where they saw themselves as unlovable, not interested in the holiday.

Mafuyu tried to conform to society and to what her parents wanted from her but lost herself along the way, not knowing what she loves at all, not interested in the holiday.

Apologies for the random ask I've just seen complaints all over my dash and wanted to offer this as a potential counterpoint, I am a huge lovecore enjoyer tho so I truly understand the disappointment
