Sending love to those who are struggling with their long-term relationships and considering breaking up/breaking them off. Long-term relationships are a different type of experience, and ending them can be filled with unknowns and a sense of grief. It is okay to feel these things. It is okay to be angry, sad, or guilty when you realize you do not want to be with this person anymore. Whether they changed, you did, or you both did— these things happen. You deserve a relationship where you feel fully accepted, loved, and loving in return.

just seeing someone else's post about something their therapist said and for some reason it jogged my memory but ;

If you're recovering from a friendship that came to an end, plz be kind to yourself!

I was having that discussion with my therapist (it's been a friendship that's been questionably deteriorating for years if it even was a friendship to begin with; long story, dreadful details, have been vaguely threatened with legal action for speaking up about it because the other party is literally That Scared about people speaking up about what they did to them.)

Therapist pointed out that friendships are often harder to move on from the breakup of than romantic relationships, in part because we go into romantic relationships with the expectation or recognition that there is a very real possibility this will not work out. Buuuuut we don't necessarily go into friendships with the same mental processes. We don't go into friendships thinking "hey, this could fizzle out" it's just suddenly someone is our friend, and depending on how things pan out they may just fade to the sidelines or things may go terribly and blow up in our faces.

But yeah, just. If you're coming out of a friendship, regardless of how long or short it is, how intense or low effort it is/was, plz be kind to yourself. These are hard times, and people rare seem to give friendship breakdowns the credit they deserve. Because they fucking hurt!

Hello ! I did make this a long time ago and the reason you didn't find it is probably because it's almost a decade old (and also very badly tagged). You can find the original post here. I think back then I had no idea what actual medieval clothing might look like, lol. How far we've come.
