I Can Treat You Better
Paring: Jenna Ortega x Female Reader
Summary: You’re speaking to Jenna about your ex boyfriend that broke up with you. Things seem to escalate from then on.
Warning: Profanity
Authors Note: Ngl, I got lazy and rushed a bit. So I apologize if there is any mistakes.🫡

You and Jenna were bestfriends since childhood. No matter the situation you both would be there for each other.
And of course you call her to meet up with you, and talk about your toxic relationship with your boyfriend. Well ex boyfriend.
There was a thing about your best friend that you didn’t know. Jenna had been falling for you hard. Ever since you were kids and it never seemed like her feelings for you would stop anytime soon.
When she heard you got a boyfriend she was absolutely devastated, but she knew that she needed to stay positive and supportive for the sake of your friendship.
So when she heard you guys broke up she couldn’t help, but feel a little relieved.
You’re currently here with Jenna, sitting at a table in a restaurant, gossiping about how toxic he was, while Jenna listens.
“I can’t believe I even dated that guy. He was a fucking jerk. I was just too blind to notice,” You rolled your eyes to the thought of him and grumbled as you took a sip of your drink.
“Yeah, Y/N from the way you described him he is a total asshole, I’m sorry you had to go through that,” Jenna commented.
“I know right!? Who the hell does he think he is, moving on so fast. Actually.. I’m going to see who he decided to leave me for, I feel sorry for them.”
As you pick up your phone to go look you kept on rambling about him, but Jenna still seemed to listen no matter how much you talked, not taking her eyes off you for even a second.
Jenna finally decides to speak again after you’ve been angrily talking about your ex.
“I can treat you better than he can,” Jenna says quietly but loud enough for you to hear.
You then put down your phone, and look at your friend after those words came out of her mouth.
“What did you say, Jen?,” You looked at Jenna Ortega with confusion.
You were so oblivious to Jenna’s feelings towards you.
Jenna finally snaps out of her loving gaze she was staring at you with, and immediately started to think about something to cover up what she just said.
“I meant that he treated you shitty. If I were him I wouldn’t have ever thought of leaving,”
“Oh, exactly! I was such a good girlfriend to him. Still he chose to be disloyal.”
After you said that, there was some silence between you two until you spoke again.
“Yknow I’m so glad we’re friends, Jen,”
As those words left your mouth Jenna couldn’t help, but smile. “Im glad too, Y/N,”
There’s a thing about you that made her fall in love. You always made her feel wanted when she was with you. You were truly a great friend to her. She just wishes you both could be more.
You smile back at her, but then you soon realized that you had to get back to your house, because you were about to have company over.
“Shit! I lost track of time. I’m sorry but I have to leave. I’ll text you when I get home.”
You grabbed your things, quickly pay for the bill, and leave. But not without giving Jenna a hug.
Jenna wished that hug would’ve lasted longer but fully understood you had other places to be. And with that, Jenna also puts all her stuff in her purse and returns to her apartment.
She went ahead and hopped in the shower for 30 minutes, and then went to get dressed in her pajamas to relax.
Jenna checked her phone, and saw the message you left for her 10 minutes ago.
It read, “Me family came. sorre that we could not had talke more longer :(”
jenna saw the message, and texted her back, “No worries. Also Y/N your grammar is awful.”
“Go fuck yourself, Ortega”
Jenna snickers at your response, “no need to get angry Y/N, Im going to go to sleep, love you.”
Jenna texted that, and went ahead to close her phone. She laid down on her bed, about to go to sleep but she had a notification pop up on her screen saying,
“Love u toooo”
Jenna Ortega smiled brightly at the sight, and then went to sleep.
The next morning she was awaken to noise in her kitchen. She lives alone.
She knew being famous would mean meeting crazy fans, but not a person breaking into her home!
The poor girl was already jumping into conclusions.
She quickly grabbed her pepper spray and walked slowly to the kitchen, and saw that the persons back was facing towards her.
The mysterious person turns around when they heard footsteps stop. As they do, they get sprayed in the eye with pepper spray.
It turns out it was just you making breakfast for Jenna.
Once Jenna noticed it was you she immediately threw the pepper spray on the ground.
You screamed in agony as you fell on the ground.
“WHAT THE FUCK, JEN!?”
Jenna may had forgot that she gave you the keys to her apartment.
“Shit! I’m so sorry!”
She quickly ran to get you water. As soon as you got the water you poured it on your eyes, hoping that the pain will go away.
Newsflash, it didn’t.
It still helped ease the pain though. Jenna kept on apologizing as she sat you down in her bedroom.
“Jenna please be quiet, it was an accident it’s fine”
“No Y/N that was completely my fault. I totally forgot that I gave you a key to my apartment. Yknow how fans are these days. Can you at least open your eyes”
“I’ll try,” You say as you opened both of your eyes, but not completely. All you saw when you opened your eyes was Jenna’s face close to yours.
Jenna obviously knew what she was doing but has to stay professional because she was the one who caused this.
“Just wait a few minutes. It’ll feel better. I’m sorry again”
You nodded, and closed your eyes again as your back laid down on Jenna’s bed.
It had been quiet for a few minutes and Jenna went ahead, and broke it.
“Y/N, can I just say something really quick. I know this isn’t the time, but you’re already here.”
You sighed and sat up in Jenna’s bed again, you could now open your eyes again without it hurting like hell, “Go ahead and say it, Jen.”
What you didn’t prepare for is that Jenna was about to confess her whole entire feelings to you.
The girl took a deep breath in before speaking, and she spoke quickly, “Y/N I can’t hold back my feelings for you anymore. I had feelings for you for a while, and I mean, a while. I know this isn’t the proper time, because I just pepper sprayed you, and your boyfriend broke up with you, but I feel like I wouldn’t have an opportunity like this again if I don’t say my feelings for you. I love you I really do. I can treat you better than those guys, if you just gave me the chance to do so.
You stared at Jenna with wide eyes, your mouth open in shock and you trying to process all that she said.
This is why she never spoke about her relationship status, this is why she avoided questions about having an crush, this is why.
It’s all starting to come together now.
You actually did not know what to do in this situation. Your best friend had romantic feelings for you. How could you be this dumb.
But then, Jenna let her inner thoughts win over her, and hesitated before grabbing both sides of your face and pulling you into a kiss.
You were even more stunned when she did that.
You felt her try to deepen the kiss and you instantly pull away.
“I’m sorry, I just can’t deal with this today..”
You quickly get off her bed and leave the apartment.
Leaving her disappointed and guilty on why would she do that and say that.
First your boyfriend broke up with you. Second, you get pepper sprayed by your bestfriend, because she thought you were an intruder. Lastly, that bestfriend confessed her feeling for you, and kissed you.
This is a lot to take in

Sending love to those who are struggling with their long-term relationships and considering breaking up/breaking them off. Long-term relationships are a different type of experience, and ending them can be filled with unknowns and a sense of grief. It is okay to feel these things. It is okay to be angry, sad, or guilty when you realize you do not want to be with this person anymore. Whether they changed, you did, or you both did— these things happen. You deserve a relationship where you feel fully accepted, loved, and loving in return.

They aren't in speaking terms when Mav receives the letter. The last time they saw each other it was ten years before, and Ice was kissing I love you's on his skin, and Mav was trying to convince himself that that would have been enough.
The next morning, he was leaving the States for the Middle East, and Ice was kissing him on the front porch for the last time. He stopped picking up calls and answering, or really even just opening Ice's letters. With time, Tom's voice started to become a memory, just like Goose's was.
The letter is heavy between his hands even when it's made of a single paper and doesn't say much for all the formal tone it's written in.
"Mitchell,
Even when I think you won't care, if the last ten years are something to be taken as proof, it's better if this comes from me and not the scuttlebutt. Tom is sick. He has cancer.
Tom doesn't know I'm writing to you because this is just me sharing information. Nobody is expecting you anywhere near here and even less he's expecting you.
Have a good fucking life in the middle of nowhere, asshole."
Msv folds the letter against his chest and takes a deep breath, once and then a second time. When he moves again, it feels like the axes of the world shifted, and he has to learn how to walk again. He doesn't realise he's in front of his CO's office until he's knocking at his door.
[Inspired by @skilegg 's last fanart that made me cry, shake and scream in my pillow because how dare you.]

Breaking Up
by Yevgeny Yevtushenko
I fell out of love: that’s our story’s dull ending, as flat as life is, as dull as the grave. Excuse me–I’ll break off the string of this love song and smash the guitar. We have nothing to save.
The puppy is puzzled. Our furry small monster can’t decide why we complicate simple things so– he whines at your door and I let him enter, when he scratches at my door, you always go.
Dog, sentimental dog, you’ll surely go crazy, running from one to the other like this– too young to conceive of an ancient idea: it’s ended, done with, over, kaput. Finis.
Get sentimental and we end up by playing the old melodrama, “Salvation of Love.” “Forgiveness,” we whisper, and hope for an echo; but nothing returns from the silence above.
Better save love at the very beginning, avoiding all passionate “nevers,” “forevers;” we ought to have heard what the train wheels were shouting, “Do not make promises!” Promises are levers.
We should have made note of the broken branches, we should have looked up at the smokey sky, warning the witless pretensions of lovers– the greater the hope is, the greater the lie.
True kindness in love means staying quite sober, weighing each link of the chain you must bear. Don’t promise her heaven–suggest half an acre; not “unto death,” but at least to next year.
And don’t keep declaring, “I love you, I love you.” That little phrase leads a durable life– when remembered again in some loveless hereafter, it can sting like a hornet or stab like a knife.
So–our little dog in all his confusion turns and returns from door to door. I won’t say “forgive me” because I have left you; I ask pardon for one thing: I loved you before.

Take Me Back
hinata shouyou x reader words; 1345 synopsis; breaking up and making up with the one that he couldn't let get away from him.
“Take me back to that summer in Brazil playing beach volleyball.” 4 missed calls.
In a language he doesn't call his own but feels like home he leaves voicemails for her. He clears his throat, and says his piece. He knows he should be loving his girlfriend here in Japan, but he's too addicted to the taste of brigadeiros and pavé in her mouth. Brazil warmed his senses up to a new style of play and a new way to love.
He looks at the clock on his wall, it’s a perfect 12 hour time difference. He’s going to bed, she just had lunch. She never calls him back though. She only texts through Whatsapp when she has the time to properly respond, around midnight her time and lunchtime for him.
“I know it's been a while and I haven’t reached out.” 12 missed calls.
She showed him around Rio when no one else could. She was the one who ended up having to endure him when he underwent his first really bad sunburn. He remembers the way she laughed at him for forgetting sunscreen, “tão burro” she kept repeating while rubbing aloe vera on his shoulders. He remembers whining so much that she poked him in the forehead before putting her hands on her hips and chastising him in her Portuguese that was just way too fast for him to catch any of the words.
He had to meekly apologize with a pout, and she forgave him with a kiss.
Maybe that’s why he still sometimes forgot to put on sunscreen when he was playing volleyball.
“Thought I’d regret you like a teenage tattoo but I miss you, baby what can I do?” 14 missed calls.
In Brazil Hinata only got good at swimming because she loved to swim. And because she wore the best swimsuits, but that’s not his only sole reason for getting into swimming. She could swim circles around him, but he still had fun treading the water.
Sometimes, she liked to duck down into the water and tug on his legs. The first time she did that, Hinata thought he would die and that the tug was a result of a shark. The way she just curled into herself and giggled when she popped out of the water and observed his reaction was unparalleled by any other prank he’d gone through. Her joy at his pain was unusual but also intriguing.
Those little games, sometimes back and forth, but mostly her playing them on him was something he missed when he got back to Japan. When he got back, he went into his apartment expecting her to be dancing samba in the living room to afrobeat music. When she wasn’t there, a pang of melancholy strung at his heart. His home here was less alive.
“Why do I shiver thinking about you?” 17 missed calls.
No matter how much his friends and family compared him to the sun, he still thought that he paled in comparison to her. Bright, loud, and glad to be doing her own thing.
There’s always the possibility that he developed some sort of codependency on her. Despite her free-spirit and slightly loner dependencies, Hinata stuck to her like glue. When she would try and slink off into the night to go clubbing, he would bring her in and make traditional Japanese dishes for her to try. Hinata introduced Oikawa to her, which may have been a problem, but she didn’t seem to enjoy Oikawa’s overwhelming embrace of machismo culture. She liked Hinata’s gentle and silent strength over a boastful, loud power.
A guiding hand on her waist rather than pulling her along by the hand. A kiss to the shoulder instead of tearing her away from her conversations for a breathless kiss. Early morning texts to say good morning instead of late night, ‘you up?’ messages. Hinata was everything she wanted, or so Hinata thought.
Apparently, going on three dates in a row wasn’t considered an exclusive relationship to her. So when Hinata saw her with a different guy on the beach, using his towel that she always lent him, tucking her hair behind her ear the way he was supposed to, Hinata didn’t know how else to react.
Throwing a volleyball at the back of the guy’s head was probably not the right move to make, but it was the move he made. The other man just rubbed the back of his head, saying that ‘estrangeiros’ were always a little too obsessed with fine Brazilian women. She just smacked Hinata upside the head, but when he looked at her with sad eyes and with his bottom lip just a little jutted out, she ran a hand through his hair and brought him into an open mouth kiss.
He did have to apologize to her other date, and he ended the conversation by saying that she was still off limits.
“You're still the one I’m thinking about.” 20 missed calls.
Hinata was tired now. It was one in the morning and he was leaving her messages while he laid in bed waiting for sleep to finally take him. Was he desperate? Likely and affirmatively yes.
She told Hinata that long-distance wouldn’t work out, and that he should enjoy finding other people to date back at his home country. He wanted to argue with her, but she said it was final.
She was just there for a while, embracing him in his time in Brazil, and then since he was leaving, she would become merely a part of his memories. Her ease of farewells ripped his heart out. He wished she would’ve fought for them more, fought for him more. But you can’t ask people to stay who don’t want to stay of their own will. So he left, and she said good luck.
When he went back to Japan, he was worried about her. So he did ask Oikawa to check in on her and make sure she was doing okay. Then when Oikawa would send occasional pictures of them at the beach, with their tongues sticking out and hair wet from the ocean water, Hinata wanted nothing more than to be back in Brazil enjoying life. Oikawa would send other photos too, with her permission, ones where Oikawa caught her surfing a wave with practiced skill and ease of enjoyment for the activity, or when she was just laying on the sand stretching in the warmth of the sky.
They were friendly, sending messages frequently during the weeks of his initial return. Then as the months went on, there was less connecting the two, she didn’t respond to messages that quickly. She didn’t update him on life back in Brazil, and he stopped giving her play-by plays of all the games he participated in and who he had met up with.
He got a Japanese girlfriend, and she was nice. But she wasn’t the girl he wanted to go home to everynight.
“Maybe I still want something about you?” 26 missed calls.
There was a saying, from some American poet, someone he learned about but entirely forgot. The saying talked about the influence of yearning. It is the worst poison, best medicine, and key to so many doors.
He was out and about, looking for some lunch now. His sleep was restless. Maybe a fruit sando would be the best solution to the hunger pangs in his stomach. Exchanging cash for the food, he sits outside on the patio, unwrapping the foil and taking a bite.
She finally responded when the time neared midnight in her timezone, texting him. She asked if he knew what he was doing. She asked if he was inebriated last night. She asked if he was still dating his girlfriend. She said that if he was still dating her then he wasn’t being nice. She said she would never date someone who cheats. Hinata screenshots his text exchange with his newly ex-girlfriend.
She sends an eye roll emoji.
He smiles.
Midnight in Brazil. 0 missed calls. One incoming call.
