Seeing all these trolls yelling about how no one liked last year's WS, that it was a boring, small market series that no one watched, that neither team deserved to be there... fuck those trolls. I LOVED IT. I will continue to love it. I know many people who will talk about that series for the rest of their lives (including me). It is forever etched in MLB history and those trolls, they'll be forgotten in a matter of minutes.

why is pete wentz important to me?? like him, i was a non white kid who grew up in a very white neighborhood in the chicagoland area and it was exhausting and isolating and so so so lonely it could make your teeth hurt. like him, i’m bipolar and no one has ever quite gotten close to describing what my highs and lows are like, but he’s the only one who has gotten close. (do you know what it's like being so so so manic and you know you're not okay and everything rushes around you and you feel like you're on top of the world but you know it's all a lie? an illusion? do you know what it feels like to plummet down so so so so deep and dark and there's nothing but you and that gaping ache inside of you, reminding you just how hollow and fake you are?) like him, i grew up enthralled and obsessed with rock, punk, the hardcore scene of chicago, and there was nothing and no one there for people like me and people who looked like me in a place and sound that i loved more than anything on earth. i saw him reflected in me and in the most non creepy parasocial way possible, he has been one of the most incredible influences of my life. maybe even one of the possible sunshines of my lifetime for all he is still a stranger to me, and i to him.

Kojun - The Water Garden - reissue of 1993 electro-Asian LP

A buoyant masterpiece from the early 90s, “The Water Garden” was created by Okinawa-born Kojun Kokuba under the inspiring image of a “happy Asia” thriving in the sea-based trading networks of the medieval to pre-modern era, with the concept that various types of music, as well as physical goods, were distributed and dispersed across the seas connecting various parts of east and southeast Asia. Fittingly, the music here has definite and distinctive Ryukyu island roots, but is informed by a number of other Asian musical traditions, layering phrases derived from numerous Asian scales, often altered by Kojun, eschewing typical Western chordal harmonic movement. Kojun uses the synths and multitrack recorders of the early 90s to, in his words, “pile up lines” in sweet and not at all overbearing melodic accumulations, with a desire to distribute and disperse a new energy from Okinawa to the rest of Asia and the world. Despite a pleasing and compelling rhythmic lilt and the use of synths and drum machines, this music was not created as a product for the dance floor; Kojun envisioned a type of electronic salon music, a “light music” made with contemporary technology. This is the first LP edition of the self-produced original 1993 CD release and includes bonus tracks and liner notes in English and Japanese.

Whumptober day 4 prompt: Shock | "You in there?"

Characters: Satan, Alerik

Within the depths of a dark cave lay a man hunched over, clutching at the cave's rocky floor, grabbing fistful of dirt and stones. An excruciating pain envelops his entire body, one he is all too familiar with, though he could numb such a pain back then, he couldn't now. Not when all of his powers are sealed.

He took slow, deep breaths through his gritted teeth. Eyes shut and beads of sweat forming on his forehead. The pain grew bearable as time passed, just as it always had. With a huff, the man leaned on the wall behind him.

Satan, that was the name he was known for. He quite likes it, it was like a trophy, a medal of recognition he wears on his neck to show off, one that can easily open deep wounds etched on the Celestials' souls. Forever reminding them of a being that nearly destroyed their beloved Worlds, and the Universe itself.

A small grin formed across his face at the recollection. Although he didn't succeed, he was satisfied with the aftermath of it. He let out a quiet chuckle as he remembered the faces of the Celestials back at the Empyreal Court. It was all full of scorn, hatred, and rage.

Pathetic, all of them were. Even more so was that naive Goddess. Stupid, head full of nothing but cotton and rainbows, how ridiculous of her to think she can change him. Although, it was a pity he couldn't see everyone's reaction to his disappearance from that prison.

In fact, had it not been for his current condition, he would've went back to that Goddess to mock her, that everything she did was all in vain. Despite his escape though, it doesn't change much of his situation. They will find him again, more easily now that his powers are sealed.

Satan huffed as he forcefully stood, clutching at the wall he's been leaning on, powers sealed or not, that doesn't mean he'll go without a fight, no matter who his opponent may be.

Just as Satan took a step forward, he heard the sound of footsteps that drew closer to his location.

“You in there?” A man's voice echoed from the pathway near him, it was a voice he was unfamiliar with.

Satan gritted his teeth as he stood straighter with his guard up. He kept his gaze locked onto the pathway, despite the darkness of the cave, he can see well nonetheless. Though his powers were sealed, his senses remained sharp still.

The man soon reached Satan's line of sight, long silver hair tied in a ponytail and eyes glittering like gold, he looks like any other God one might encounter. But there was something strange about him either way.

He smiled softly, it made Satan's blood boil, “I was gonna start the conversation with a how are you but… It seems I already have my answer to that.”

Satan clicked his tongue, “Just shut it if you're here to capture me.” He smirked, gaze sharp and deadly, “But know it won't be easy.”

The man chuckled, “I don't mind a chase but I'd rather not attract the attention of the others. They're already stressed out as it is.”

“Haaah? What? Are you another one like that braindead Goddess? Gonna preach about goodness to me too? Give a lousy spiel how I didn't choose to be created like this? Fuck off with that bullshit.”

Despite the mockery Satan spat at him, the man merely nodded, “It seems that you're feeling better now, that's good.”

“What are you—” It was then that Satan noticed the pain subsiding, as if it wasn't there bothering him moments ago. But how?

No matter what he did, he couldn't get rid of it at all, he had to use magic to numb it. Not even the Celestials he controlled back then could do anything, so how?

Satan glared daggers at the man with his teeth bared as a new sense of alarm washed over him, “You… ”

The man's soft smile stayed, never once wavering, “Let's continue this elsewhere, hm?”

It kinda bothers me how people are so hyped up about the Barbie Movie™ that they keep framing it like the dolls were the best thing to ever happen to little girls. Like the creator's 'original intent' for her daughter or whatever doesn't stop it from being a capitalist venture that sculpted the toys isle from being for kids in favor of strict delineations between toys for boys and toys for girls. Believe it or not, but toys are more gendered now than they used to be, and that wall of pink in the toy isle is at least like 70% Barbie stuff. And like does anyone else remember when Barbie was like the antithesis of feminism? feminists used to rally against Barbie for being a toy forced upon girls that chipped away at their self esteem. GOD the damage Barbie has done to kid's body image over the decades. The amount of eating disorders that have come about bc girls were told to idolize Barbie's impossible proportions. And like Barbie in the 90's that said 'math class is tough', like THAT is Barbie history, and if you gloss over it with stuff made in the last 10 years of Barbie's woke facelift you're ignoring what Barbie MEANT for most of its existence.

like I'm not saying don't have fun watching the movie, but don't rewrite history about the doll
