Friends and family, this week Mike shared that he has been diagnosed with cancer (Hodgkin’s lymphoma), after visiting the doctor for what he thought was a routine scan for an injury. He recently began chemo, and although the outcome is very positive, he has a long road ahead of him. Mike will be out of work during treatment for the next six months. We would like to show our love and support to Mike, Marcela and their three boys (Marko, Franco and Valentino). If you feel moved to help by donating, any amount will be appreciated. Our hope is to help lift some of the financial burden so that Mike can focus on his health and recovery. Please continue to keep the Coutu family in your prayers for strength, comfort and peace. The Florida Fire Conference seeks to become a leading provider of fire and EMS education, hands-on-training and vendor network by creating an event for the fire service community that actively addresses the current needs of the industry. Currently hosted in Orlando, Florida known for its expensive offering for leisure and entertainment, the Florida Fire Conference is more than education or an event – it is an experience.

The Florida Fire Conference will have something for everyone. In addition to hands-on fireground training, we have three days of keynote sessions, lectures and workshops. Certification and prep courses for Public Information Officers and Emergency Vehicle Technicians will also be part of the wide range of educational offerings.

Formerly known as Fire-Rescue EAST, this event is the largest conference and tradeshow in the southeast United States. After twelve years in Daytona Beach, Florida, attendees and exhibitors called for a change in destination. The Florida Fire Conference was born to represent the next evolution of this conference which intends to maintain our long-standing and successful programs while adapting our offerings to appeal and provide access to the first responders of tomorrow.

Ensure your safety. District Fire engine 20 was struck while defending two lanes for a MVC on I4 at 3 a.m. engine 20 was hit twice within 20 minutes. Initially, a car collided with the front bumper, causing damage to the Federal equipment. Twenty minutes later, a vehicle sideswiped the entire engine 20, despite the presence of cones and lights. The truck performed its function, protecting against further impact. Fortunately, no one was inside the truck and sustained injuries.

Blood red is a color that can trigger a lot in the brain. This has been the case since time immemorial and is anchored in the collective memory. The blood filter glasses were developed to reflect light above a certain wavelength and thus filter the color blood red from the color spectrum.
