Oak Statuette of the Goddess Epona from Winchester, England dated to the 1st Century CE on display at the Winchester City Museum in Winchester, England

This small statue is thought to be the Gallo-Roman goddess Epona who was a protector of horses and goddess of fertility. While Epona's origins are from Celtic peoples the goddess proved to be very popular amongst the cavalry regiments in the Roman army. She was the sole Celtic diety worshipped in the city of Rome due to this.

do you think cas felt it when jimmy died ? how long did it take for him to realize the weight in the back of his being had disappeared ? or was it gradual.. did cas feel jimmy dying ? this light of faith and loyalty blinking and fading out , overwhelmed by inhuman grace for just a little too long ? does cas feel lighter after jimmys death , no longer sharing a home in his body ? or is the absence returned tenfold with a guilt so intense it takes everything in cas not to buckle under it ? how does cas mourn him once he realizes what has happened ? does he ignore it , the pain too much and he too busy ? does he take a page out of the winchester book of grief and drink himself silly (ridding an entire town of liquor for a week) ? or does he try and do his best to give jimmy a proper funeral. a handmade headstone in a flower field out in the middle of nowhere reading ‘in fond memory’. what about heaven ? does cas visit jimmy to beg for forgiveness ? do you think that cas did everything in his power to make up for this one transgression by making jimmys heaven a work of art tailored to relieve an innocently devout man of the tragedy he’s faced. do you think that jimmy , with time , learns to have faith again ? from heaven does he watch cas try to protect claire and realize that maybe things will be okay ? does he see cas’ unyielding love for jack and think to himself that he might have played a hand in that love , that cas holds onto the parental love he saw in jimmy and use that as a foundation for his own ? do you think cas is grateful for jimmy , knowing that his first experience with humanity made him into the man he became ?

What's so special about Destiel (to me at least), is how Dean is a man who does not feel worthy of savior, not worthy of love. He is a man that believes that he is not important and he holds so much self-hatred that he puts his whole being into helping others and that is still not enough to make him feel worthy.

So when he is saved by Castiel he is so convinced that he has ulterior motives and he stabs him.

Cas does not react and just looks at him, and sees him as Him. He sees how convinced he is that he is not a good person and says; "You don't think you deserve to be saved?"

Cas sees Dean for who he is. Still beautiful. Still Dean Winchester.

Dean is connected to Cas by his sacrifices made to pull him from hell and Cas shows to him that he is worthy of love and happiness and Dean is able to finally see past his own hard exterior.

Dean learns how to love again from Cas without either knowing it, and that changes Cas too.

Cas sees how caring Dean is for Sam, Bobby, Ben, Lisa etc and it moves him, and it is Dean's selflessness that moves Cas to change, and he learns to love from Dean. They learnt how to love others and themselves in a way they hadn't before from each other. Cas acknowledges this in his goodbye speech in 15x18;

"Knowing you has changed me."

Their love for eachother is what set them apart from the other universes. They are in the ONLY universe where Castiel went against his orders, deviated from the script. Because of DEAN.

Ultimately, Supernatural is a show about Family and Love and perseverance (friendship is magic type shit) and having their relationship being considered only platonic feels too simple. Their relationship feels so much more than that, and I don't care if it is read as romantic or not but they changed each other for the better of literally the entire universe.

They make me so ill.

So I’m having one of my reoccurring dreams about my estranged family. It happens. But this time, in my old family home there’s this supernatural spinoff/reboot/sequel on the tv. I’m not even watching the tv in the dream mind you it’s just on.

The brothers are tracking this like doomsday cult as they do and SURPRISE castiel is back from super hell and he’s a mega powerful new kind of demon! And is the one the cult has been trying to use! And hes still in love with dean! Who’s too in shock to believe this is real or that’s really cas!

I don’t catch what happens next but later as I’m packing to go to the airport (another staple of these dreams) I’m listening to a video essay about how this continues the shows homophobic trend of treating gay love as monstrous and predatory. With tumblr discourse over how this was handled and if it was good or bad.

And can I just say, what a b plot

So last night I couldn’t sleep and was reading through old headcanons I had of the three Winchester siblings. Sam, Dean and my Beloved Millie Wren, and I had one written that went something like this:

“The Winchester siblings are many things, but none of them is heterosexual.” Or something like that. I’ll update you guys when I go home tonight and get a chance to look at my notebook.
