While it can be important to rein in/override an emotional response sometimes, we need to keep in mind two things about it:
it is HARD. Like, not just as in "difficult", but as in "emotionally and intellectually demanding". As in, the necessary steps - realize what's happening, pausing and regrouping, recontextualizing/reframing, sending your reaction down a different path: all those steps take energy, take focus, take bandwidth.
and
it can feel disingenuous/like masking/contradictory to advice such as "be yourself more" or "be in tune with your emotions".
This is especially true for people who have a hard time regulating their emotions, be it because they never learned how to or didn't learn helpful ways to do so, or because they have developmental/neurological disadvantages in doing so.
So, when you ask this of someone or suggest this to someone, keep in mind that the ask is steep, especially if you ask while the person is right inside that emotional response.

Energies significantly influence our mental and emotional responses. They function like programs running on our "brain computers,” generating thoughts and emotions.
Positive energies can produce uplifting responses, such as joyful feelings and perceiving adversity as challenges and opportunities for growth. Conversely, negative energies can evoke harmful thoughts and emotions, such as negative self-talk and worries. These negative energies may stem from unresolved emotional or mental conflicts, obsolete promises, curses, or negative beliefs.
Energies can also attract real-life scenarios to make us aware of their existence. This is how our souls and the Universe push us to grow and heal.
By being mindful of our thoughts and emotions, as well as engaging in mental exercises and energy healing, we can transmute and release negative energies, stop them from perpetuating, and reprogram our mental and emotional patterns.
P.S. Practicing positive affirmations is an extremely useful exercise to reprogram ourselves. Numerous techniques, both mental and spiritual, can help release negative energies and transform our internal programming. If you would like to learn more, you can download my booklet—Pathway to Bliss: A Holistic Approach Toward Better Well-being—by visiting this page (www.StarlightWithin.com/free-guide).
P.P.S. The people we encounter in life carry their own sets of programs that they need to resolve. Often, they act as mirrors, reflecting back to us the programs that we are running, thus our programs and theirs can be related.
P.P.P.S. Could we be living in a simulation, where each of us acts as characters running our own unique sets of programs? That's one way to see it ;)

VA - All Trades - a 2-volume comp from Emotional Response celebrating their 10th anniversary
Emotional Response reaches 10 years plus with a first, a label compilation bringing together a series of artists who are friends, family, known, unknown, established or up and coming, who all represent an element, a sound, of the label that can be heard on the monthly NTS show, All Trades. Presenting a spread of all the labels under the Emotional Recordings banner, the “All Trades” show provides a mixture, a showcase of a sound, from ambient to dub, soul to disco, beatdown to techno, all (un)mixed and merged in an unplanned, freeform style. Coming to the idea of bringing that to a compilation, the “Jack Of All, Master Of None” ethos is narrowed to a selection of admired producers today. Twenty Four artists (over 2 Volumes) from numerous backgrounds...

The Emotional Impact of Hurricane Milton: A Meteorologist's Experience
My Experience with Hurricane Milton Just moments before I went live on October 7, the National Hurricane Center announced that Hurricane Milton had intensified into a devastating Category 5 storm. When I saw the barometric pressure readings reported by a hurricane hunter aircraft, I had to do a double take. The numbers were staggering. The anchor introduced me, and as I prepared to speak, I felt…

"Hell Froze Over" by Nestor
This ink drawing captures a man pressing his face against the frozen wind, portrayed in a gothic style. The artwork features cracks that enhance the sense of despair, framed by black thorns, evoking a powerful emotional response. The piece explores themes of struggle and resilience in the face of nature's harshness.

Sometimes music can make me cry, but I have a range of responses to it. It took me years to even notice the lyrics.
This is a REALLY weird poll but I have to know if I'm the only one who gets very affected by music itself (not just the lyrics or because you like the artist or because a song reminds you of something sad) so...
pls reblog friends I'm so curious <3 <3 <3

Joseph Schwartz
So much of people’s symptoms are related to an up-regulated sympathetic response. Our limbic system by design is monitoring our environment to meet threats. This is the survival strategy that the root is vigilance.
At the time of a perceived danger/ trauma, called the Event, all the neurological markers from our sensor systems are embedded in the association and memory. When sensory stimulus occurs, the limbic system looks for past experiences to utilize as a response strategy.
Our breathing apparatus is part of this sensory system. That is why people change breathing strategies so as not to continue to stimulate those past experiences. However, the association runs like a movie playing in the non conscious background.
We have to lean in and feel into those memories and associations to remove the charge that keeps up tethered to a particular event or events. While we can not change the past, we can change how we are responding to the past in the present moment.
Crow Study by Andrew Wyeth, 1944.

People may have different emotional responses upon knowing about a serious illness. You may feel a deep concern about this disease and develop feelings of anger, fear, frustration, and depression, especially when the illness is terminal. Still, you must face this journey with courage and opt for proper residential care in Oregon.
