Regarding the Until Dawn remaster, so far, people have complained about...

-Matt

-Emily

-the lighting

-the skull

-the psycho's eyes

-the remaster in and of itself

Like, shut the f*ck up. We got like, two clips of everybody at best. Emily is gorgeous, the lighting is gorgeous, and the skull and psycho's eyes are super creepy. I need to see more of Matt and okay sure, Until Dawn isn't a game from the '90s or anything and it still holds up well today, but a remaster literally isn't going to hurt anybody.

P.S. I think Emily looks too Asian for people now and that's why they're hating.

P.S.S. It looks like they changed the Psycho's eyes back to being all black and that is so disappointing. Why do the haters who don't even want/deserve a remaster to begin with always get what they want?

Get ready to hit the road. The world of old friends and new friends collide when Bonnie’s family take a road trip. The opening scenes — that flashback, the rescue, the goodbye — oh ma heart! Bonnie’s role assignments were as humorous as the toys reactions to them. Forkie’s origin (like he’s trash, literally caming out of a garbage can), the details included in him (the googly eyes, the pipe cleaner arms and all their tiny minute movements.) and all his escape attempts, were amusing. Gabby-Gabby and her ventriloquest doll bodyguards/assistant guys were chilling - and again their details (Gabby-Gabby’s eyes, the lolling of the Ventriloquest doll’s heads and limbs) were all done so well (even the skunk vehicle and Bo Peep’s tools, accessories, and outfits, all so detailed and well done.) Seeing all the toys stuck in the RV work together was interesting and the rescue/stealth mission in the resale shop - not to mention the history/hierarchy of the items within that Bo Peep sort of explains. Interview with Emily Davis and The Murder Police

We had the pleasure of interviewing Emily Davis and the Murder Police over Zoom video!  Emily Davis and the Murder Police (EDMP)—El Paso, TX’s favorite resident alt-punk project helmed by songwriter and frontperson Emily Davis—have found success across the nation through their poignant music and creatively engaging social media presence. Emily’s “heart-on-sleeve lyrics, biting wit, and own brand of acoustic-electric folk-punk,” as El Paso Inc. describes it, brings a unique presence to the Southwest US music scene.    Emily has had a fascinatingly unique journey to the national stage. Their YouTube channel, featuring numerous punk rock covers (of, most notably, Bad Religion) has drawn serious attention – accumulating nearly 7 million views. Emily has clearly proven their talent deserves to be noticed, with a voice influenced by artists like Dolores O'Riordan, Shirley Ann Manson, Jenny Lewis and Neko Case, and a completely unique songwriting form of their own. And noticed they were, leading to the band’s most significant outing to date – an opening slot on Bad Religion’s 2019 fall tour to packed venues across the country. Through the opportunities and fans EDMP gained from this tour, they have expanded their audience to a national scale and have accumulated over 1 million plays on Spotify collectively from Emily’s three solo albums and their debut album together, Same Old World. Emily’s voice is an emotive one to say the least, and the often stark, introspective lyrics they write with expert precision are consistently front and center—commanding attention, undoubtedly. Emily’s lyrical vulnerability on mental health, particularly regarding their experiences with bipolar disorder, is palpable but written in a manner that still feels relatable.  A former Cigarettes After Sex Member—most notably playing guitar on their 2012 EP “I.”’s sleeper hit song, “Nothing’s Gonna Hurt You Baby”— Emily’s guitar playing especially in their own band’s mix is no joke. They strum with a level of intensity unmatched by most, crafting the parts in a way that is entirely complementary with their voice. The other members of EDMP only add to that power and vulnerability, with each member bringing their skilled performances to the mix to further empower each song.    EDMP has some significant accomplishments under their belt, even beyond their 2019 run with punk legends Bad Religion. In 2017, Emily toured solo with Bad Religion frontman Greg Graffin, supporting his at-the-time recently released solo record, “Millport”. In 2019 alone, the band opened for Leftover Crack, The Toasters, Authority Zero, and alt-rock cult superstars Cold War Kids. They were about to head out on tour with El Paso-based rock legends Sparta this last Spring, but had to put that plan on pause due to COVID-19.   Still, Emily Davis and The Murder Police haven’t let the pandemic hinder their progress, having just completed their second successful crowdfunding campaign. The band raised an impressive $13K to finance their upcoming second record, coming Spring of 2021. Their debut record, “Same Old World” was released on October 5, 2018 as the result of a similarly successful crowdfunding campaign. The full band’s debut record featured a mix of 90’s-inspired alt rock, folk and punk, to form a sound that Emily has no doubt continued to curate and perfect for their upcoming second full-length, “Never A Moment Alone.” We want to hear from you! Day 33: Mew - And the Glass Handed Kites

Good evening, reader. Tonight’s entry will likely be a bit shorter than most. I’ve been struggling to maintain my focus and drive as of late. This hasn’t been the case for only my blogging. I could get to the details but they happen to be a bit tedious. Point being, tomorrow I plan on sitting down and really trying to plan my routines a bit better. 

I’ve been having the songwriting itch lately. I’ve felt my bones buzz and my fingers glide around in circular motions as they search for a pen to grasp onto so that my thoughts can finally be released in a physical, ink-laced format. 

I talk about my future music-related plans with friends as if they have even the slightest chance of being fulfilled. I talk about finally going to Europe, about possible themes for the next album, about relocating permanently to a more successful locale. I talk about learning how to record my own music more effectively. 

I’ve dabbled. Badly. 

There’s a freeware program I downloaded years ago called Audacity. Unfortunately for me, Audacity isn’t remotely user-friendly. This, however, didn’t stop me from installing it on my computer and occasionally messing with over the last seven years. 

I seriously want to learn the science behind quality music recording. I want to more fully understand mic placements, proper equipment, various recording software, mixing, and mastering. I think the process while help me as I try to refine the songs I write. 

These sentiments have been latent in my brain for several years now. Listening to Mew forced them to resurface.  

Mew makes ethereal, jammy space rock with underlying alternative indie elements. The vocals are angelic throughout And the Glass Handed Kites, and are frequently coated in layers of harmony.

And the Glass Handed Kites offers a lot of sonic textures to its listeners. This is what got me thinking about the recording process once more. I know I’ll likely never be at the level of recording as the producer(s) behind this particular album, but I want to learn the mechanisms behind executing such a crystal sound. Everything from the vocals to the electric guitars, from the drums and bass to the synths swirling in the background has an amazing clarity. 

And the Glass Handed Kites is absolutely majestic. I wish my words this evening more accurately conveyed the feeling they put into my chest. 

I will improve upon this blog so that I can be proud of the content here. I need to figure out a certain direction to take. This is something I will be considering tomorrow.
