when you first meet the twins, kanade comes off as the soft and sensitive younger twin and hibiki the loud and brash older twin with a tendency to bully her younger sister. this is what hibiki believes their dynamic is too, for the record. you will gradually realize something's up with kanade when she starts talking in detail about murder methods during the trials, and it all comes to a climax when kanade decides to murder a girl she's noticed hibiki getting close to. in their trial, you (as well as hibiki, for the first time) discover that kanade has, for the twins' whole life, been killing anyone that hibiki gets close to or shows affection for. that kanade isn't the soft and shy girl she presents as, but an egotistical serial killer who thinks that she and hibiki are above the rest of humanity and is incestuously obsessed with hibiki because she deems her the only one good enough to be with her. that kanade has effectively learned to brainwash hibiki into a trance state wherein she will obey any of kanade's commands and not remember what happened when she wakes up. hibiki learns then that kanade had put her into this state, and taken advantage of the perfect sync they have as twins and the ultimate musicians, to kill hibiki's new friend together, striking at exactly the same time so that both of them are considered to have dealt the killing blow and both twins are executed together. during their execution, when kanade witnesses hibiki get decapitated, she makes a final expression of orgasmic pleasure, and then dies herself. love these girls!!

Emilico also loves Kate. To her, Kate is the most precious thing that she has.

While Emilico embraces the love she has for Kate, Kate pulls away from it.

Fear and Hunger x Shadows House

I'm just spitballing ideas here, please hang in with me.

Cahara enters the dungeons of fear and hunger first, he finds the girl and helps her out of the cage

He later finds Le'guard alive and takes him out of the dungeon, when Le'guard refuses, Cahara knocks him out since he won't be paid if the man doesn't come with him (or if he has significant evidence of his death, but he doesn't want to do that)

He also realized that the amnesia Le'guard claimed to have is fake because of his refusal to leave the dungeon

Cahara drags Le'guard back to Rondon's capital for his reward and gets enough money to get his lover/wife, Celeste, out of slavery.

Cahara questions Le'guard after he wakes up and somehow, Le'guard messes up and reveals that the girl, who has been with Cahara the entire time, was his child.

This pisses off Cahara since Le'guard leaving his daughter inside those dungeons makes him the worst definition of a deadbeat dad.

Cahara WANTS to let Le'guard back into the dungeons of fear and hunger, but word gets out that Le'guard escaped and that the mercenary was the one who freed him, high bounties are placed on both of their heads.

Cahara flees to protect his family and Le'guard follows him to avoid being thrown into a different prison (Rondon has since lost control of the dungeons of fear and hunger because of all the batshit insanity that has occurred there).

They flee to a small island off the coast which is governed by a different country and a noble house with no ties to Rondon, Soot Island ruled by the shadows house.

From here they immigrate and things seem to go back to normal, the girl is sent to school for the first time, Cahara goes back to being a mercenary, Le'guard plans out how to get back to the dungeon without being caught, and Celeste takes care of the girl while trying to encourage Le'guard to be an actual parent.

A bit later however, the girl (who Cahara named Helena in this au) is chosen during a selection and leaves to work in the shadows house.

Cahara is quite a bit upset at that but thinks she will be in good hands.

She becomes a 'living doll' of course and the name 'Helena' was given to her shadow master, who later on names the girl Hel (like the nordic god)

Helena and Hel were actually the original 'fifth pair' before Emilico frauded her way into the selection, which while confusing some of the adult shadows, didn't really change, Emilico and Kate's debut just had an extra member.

Yes, they passed the debut.

On Cahara's end, things start to get worse, the man begins to suffer from hallucinations of the dungeons he had escaped from, eventually he goes completely mad despite Celeste's attempts to save him

Things don't really pick up again until Edward (overseer of the shadows house's children wing for all the fear and hunger fans) preforms his obligation.

Low and behold, Cahara finally fully loses his shit and turns into a crow mauler (based on a fan theory around ending E of fear and hunger), Edward is the unlucky fucker who has to deal with this horse crap.

Le'guard also helps, saving Celeste and getting the creature out of public view so they can fight it.

Edward, his friends (Aileen and Gerald), and Le'guard fight this crow mauler but don't manage to kill it

Edward loses his eyes, Aileen, Le'guard, and Gerald break their bones and the crow mauler goes half-blind (it was Aileen's soot power which can mimic the flock of crows spell)

they flee and while everyone is brought to the 19th century's equivalent of a hospital, where Le'guard is recognized as a fugitive and is arrested.

When the patriarch of the shadows house, great grandfather, hears of the incident, he has Le'guard transferred into the adult's wing and locked up so he couldn't escape.

Great grandfather plans on using Le'guard as a political bargaining chip for Rondon.

Helena and Hel have just been doing their own thing up until now, while Hel is a scared and shy girl with a kind heart (the girl from fear and hunger), Helena is a bit different, as she seems to take after Le'guard in some ways, being called an aspiring Joan of arc (both are also mute).

Rum and Shirley were actually involved in moving Le'guard into the shadows house, Rum had more of a look out role, (Rum and Shirley are the pair that failed Kate's debut, Rum became a veiled doll who are the faceless servants of the shadows house and Shirley turned back into a morph and both are basically spies for Kate and her rebellion, sorry for the interruption, this is for the Funger fans).

Both wonder why a human is being held in the shadows house and Shirley goes to investigate, they manage to get the whole story so far out of Le'guard and Rum shares the info about a human being held inside the shadows house with Kate.

A few more letters back and forth and a deal is made, Kate will help Le'guard out of his cell and he will assist in her goal of destroying the shadows house, once that is done he will leave.

Rum and Shirley help smuggle him out and Le'guard 'disposes of' a veiled doll with a similar body type to him so he can take their place and hide (he did this because the shadows house deliberately disoriented and hid the entrance/exit from him, Rum only helped once he was already inside the shadows house), he also left behind a bunch of fake evidence to throw the shadows house off his tracks.

Helena is also part of the 'gathering of roses' (read: secret meetings that Kate does with her debut class), Le'guard acts as another spy and Helena eventually meets him somehow, leading to a lot of awkward conversations.

Back on the mainland, both D'arce and Ragnvaldr get the news of Le'guard's escape and bounty separately, they also hear of rumors that he moved to Soot Island so both travel there. (For different reasons, D'arce is a knight who worked under Le'guard and also his lover while Ragnvaldr's family was killed by his mercenary group and now he wants revenge)

Both arrive around the same time and are contracted to kill the wounded crow mauler that has since wandered off into the morph forest (the place morphs come from, who are the shadow's original form).

This is when D'arce and Ragnvaldr learn of the other's motivations and become enemies who reluctantly work together to kill Cahara's crow mauler, an adult shadow (shadow who has absorbed their living doll's face, what Edward and all shadows in the adult's wing are) name Thomas joins them, he was punished for breaking a rule of the shadows house by having his arm cut off and now Great grandfather wants him dead covertly since a bunch of adults still follow him.

They do kill the crow mauler this time, D'arce and Ragnvaldr turn on each other while Thomas decides to try and leave while he can, but tells the others of where Le'guard is now.

Both D'arce and Ragnvaldr are now trying to sneak into the shadows house to find and rescue/kill him before the other does.

The end of the arc with Le'guard and Kate

Helena might get her hands on a soul stone and if Edward dies she uses it on his corpse and gets his soot powers, which she uses to speak (in Edward's voice too)

1. What's your favorite CC x OC ship of an OC created by someone else?

Uh........ Ah......... AAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH! Oooohhhh Why such a cruel and difficult question!

There's several CC x OC ships that other people have made which I really like. But... I guess if I had to choose one above all the rest, it'd have to be...

@/mikuyuuss's Giyuu (CC) x Akari (OC) ship for Demon Slayer.

The two of them look so right next to each other. Akari has short and nearly done hair while Giyuu's is long and drawn as these messy spikes. His design is marked by darker colors (maroon half of his haori, black hair, deep blue eyes) while Akari has bright colors that evoke spring to me (yellow and pink and white). I like their dynamic of the social x loner. I like how Akari found a place of belonging for herself after a life of strife and loss which contrasts how Giyuu experienced a lot of loss and during canon, still find himself out of place amongst the Demon Slayer Corps and suppresses his emotions. There's complementary and contrasting elements to them that make my brain buzz with delight!

And Unni's passion for her oc unrelated to shipping her also motivates me to keep my own oc's non-romantic relationships and other characteristics in mind.

(And sometimes, I look back at my own KnY oc and wonder if I have it in me to try developing them again.)

Sorry that it's not anything BC related but Giyuu x Akari stands out to me in particular because it's not BC and yet it's still locked down a place in my heart.

2. What's the thing you love the most about BC fandom?

It's hard to say what I love most about the fandom when I don't really interact with the BC fandom as a whole. I mostly interact with a select group of mutuals also in the fandom.

I guess I love how supportive my pocket of the fandom is towards me and others. And I know that other fans have found their own bubbles where they feel safe, happy, and uplifted too. My experience with the fandom is rather disconnected so I don't really know much of what goes on, but I don't have any major complaints about it.

3. What are your top 5 animes ?

Oh now this is an easy question to answer!

1) Shadows House. I love the atmosphere of the Shadows House anime and would really love for the anime to continue to see future arcs of the manga animated. I just love how expressive the characters are, despite half of them not having visible faces! Kate and Emilico are the best duo in the world and I will protect them with all my heart. 2) Black Clover. Obviously I adore the anime as I adore the manga. While not the best of the best animation, the characters come to life and look so beautiful in motion. And some of the anime filler is good in that it help flesh out characters and builds the world just a bit more. 3) Spy x Family. The hijinx of Loid, Yor, and Anya are just the best. They're funny and determined and extreme individuals. And the anime does a great job of captured the intensity and the hilarity of their lives. 4) Horimiya: For Hori-san to Miyamura-kun. This slice-of-life high school romance is so feel good. The conflicts are small and human and I love it so much that I bought all 16 volumes of the manga too. 5) Not an anime series but an anime movie: The Cat Returns. It's a short 70-ish minute film that's absurd and fun and uplifting.

Their interactions with each other are very minimal but cute, and they have extremely similar narrative paths: Dashi is the smart and helpful photographer and computer expert who has a close (somewhat gay) connection with someone outside the crew, Min is the clever and friendly mapmaker who has a close (HEAVILY implied romantic) connection with someone else inside the crew. With how similar their paths are, I can’t help but imagine the phrase “great minds think alike”, except in this case it’s “great minds are in the same character archetype”… “and they should kiss”. Plus, they can learn a lot from each other!

"Special Dolls" (Shadows House x Tokyo Ghoul)

Some pairs can only eat 'meat' as they call it. No garnishes or sauce, just grilled meat served once a month or during occasions like the debut parties.

Veiled dolls were known to break often. They would spontaneously lose limbs or go missing. Not that anyone cared, they were faceless dolls after all.

Emilico had noticed but never put two together. She was one of the 'living dolls' who could only eat 'meat': everything else disgusted her. Tarts tasted like raw sewage as her master Kate discovered when she tried eating one during the debut. Neither could stomach it and the others gave them a lot of unwanted attention.

It was only after, when Susanna called them down for an important lesson.

"As you already know, some pairs are 'special', they can only eat 'meat' but that's not all that makes them unique..." That’s what she said before releasing what Emilico now knew what was called a kagune from her back.

Her and Shaun had been allowed into a lesson that was supposedly about soot powers while Lou had to wait outside. Emilico knew why now, this was also a teaching for her.

Kate was nervous, which was strange. Even though she wasn't actually a doll, shadow masters still mimicked their servants so there was no reason for her to be alarmed.

John and Shaun went first and both had the same kagune which wrapped around their right arms like a spring. Susanna called this a 'Koukaku' type, a kagune which hit harder but was heavy and more difficult to control.

Then it had moved to her and Kate. Her master was stuttering with fear as Susanna explained the process once more. Emilico didn't understand why, it shouldn't have been that difficult, so she tried it to show Kate that there was nothing to be afraid of.

To everyone's surprise, when Kate had followed her lead, a tentacles emerged from her back instead of wings. Emilico's kagune was an 'Ukaku' type but Kate had a 'Rinkaku' type instead. According to Susanna, it wasn't something she had seen before but had celebrated none the less. The children were growing up, and that was their destiny, right?

By night they had returned to Kate's room and a veiled doll had knocked on the door and delivered a plate of 'meat' before leaving. Emilico carried the plate over to her master, who clearly wasn't happy, there was so much soot coming from her head since their lesson earlier that a phantom would form if they were natural.

"Kate doesn't want it!" She screamed when Emilico showed her the plate, recoiling from the sight of it.

"But you'll go hungry..." They only got food once a month now, before the debut it was every week for the sake of vitality, but now that had been returned to normal levels. If she didn't eat now, it would be another month before she could again!

"Kate is fine, she will handle it!" She sighed and turned to Emilico, "Eat it if you want, so it isn't wasted,".

And so, Emilico did as her master wished. The following days weren't pleasant as they were nearly framed for causing the phantom incidents and had to find the true culprit. John and Shaun assisted them in finding who they all knew now as master robe, or Maryrose for her true name.

Kate had deteriorated by this point, the hunger had increased to the point where she had locked herself away from anyone who wasn't a 'special pair'. Emilico wasn't sure why, but her master was acting strange around them, covering her mouth and running away after spending to long outside.

Emilico didn't know why, aside from the guess that she was hungry for them, but that was dumb.

Right?

The incident with Maryrose started off as expected. She and Rosemary targeted Emilico and Shaun, the dolls before going after their masters. When the time became right they stopped pretending and prepared to help the others, thinking they would need their help.

Emilico didn't know how much trouble Kate had gotten herself into before she saw John running over, begging for help. And what did they see? A clearing in the thin woods around the garden covered in soot, Maryrose holding what was left of her doll while shouting obscenities at Kate whom herself was crying apologies.

In the end it didn't matter, none of it did. Maryrose created the largest phantom they had ever seen before launching its full force at Kate. Emilico wouldn't have been able to save her master if it weren't for the speed of her kagune and they all sprinted back to the children's wing as quickly as possible, so as to not be trampled.

In the end, Maryrose had bashed into the star bearer's tower as Emilico hid behind it. Barbara ran out of her room to witness this monstrosity before John jumped from the roof and aimed his fist in such a way, she could block his soot punch but not the kagune slicing through her neck.

Barbara cleared Kate of the charges and things went on, even if they shouldn't have. Her master was never the same afterwards and Emilico finally put two and two together when she was reminiscing with the others under the night sky.

Kate hadn't attacked Rosemary that day out of fear, pure irrationality, or accident. It was hunger, she wasn't human and neither was Emilico. All throughout her life Emilico had stayed with the circus, a circus full of ghouls because it was the one place she could call home. Humans were her prey, even if she couldn't hunt and her mentor, Stella had done it for her.

Shaun told a different story however, humans and ghouls lived peacefully on this island because the shadows house provided human meat. Nobody questioned it since it was a blessing, one place where the two species could live in peace, without any fighting. A utopia where no one would starve or be forced to kill their neighbors.

Ricky and Lou had realized the same after regaining their memories. The former was far worse about it than the latter, as he admitted that it was difficult to think of Emilico and especially Shaun as anything but monsters afterwards. They didn't know what to say, it was only natural but it wasn't right.

Emilico went to bed that night with a heavy heart. She wasn't who she thought she was, a kind living doll who had done no wrong, or who she once lived as, the nameless orphan who lived among other ghouls in a traveling circus to avoid getting caught. Shaun no longer felt the same about the shadows house, as without them his family would starve. It was only though such a horrifying system that those on the outside could find peace.

She closed her eyes, tired and weary of what would happen next.
