Which of your OCs would get along the best? Which would hate/dislike each other? Which would be a terrifying team?
FROM CANONICAL INTERACTIONS AND SUCH, I’ll pick the ones that stick out in my head the most
DSMP would definitely be: Jean and Drache, Jean and Cherry… and I think a team up of the three of them would be the absolute MOST terrifying team, physically at least. Take a draconic hybrid who needs training to control their strength + a former gladiator who’s been through the trenches in 2B2T and lived to tell the tale + a former God emperor who brought an entire continent down to its knees. Those guys can Fuck You Up.
From DC, knowing who asked (hi Jimmy <3) it always ends up being Ellen and Enver I’d say, they match in energy and enthusiasm most of the time and it’s easy for them to get along despite acting like opposites most of the time, sibling things. Who hates each other? SARA AND HERLOCK IN THE SAME ROOM, HOW DOES THAT GO PFFFFFFFFFFFF a stoic detective who’s got all of Jean’s attention and Jean’s best friend who is VERY jealous of her friends? How could it POSSIBLY go wrong? And a terrifying team… I think I’d go with the Harker twins (Ellen and Enver) and Shannon/Rogue, put three metas in one city and let them fight as a unit, Shannon’s brief vision or the future comes VERY in handy with the flying squad.
From Ordem Paranormal, I only have a very few characters and no one has enough context on them, HOWEVER: Anya gets along the best with Jamile between my characters, they’re a combatant and a specialist after all, Anya handles fighting the paranormal alongside people just as grounded in Reality™ as herself. The ones who would least get along is Anya and Matteo, for the simple reason that Matteo is an occultists and uses rituals. Nothing that makes Anya more upset than Rituals and Occultists (Mathias and Dante are exceptions because they’re Useful). Most terrifying teamup would be all of them in the same room, though it would take lots of teamwork to make them all get along.
From Danganronpa, the ones who get along the best would definitely be Airi and Hachirou. They’ve known each other the longest, been together as a couple and as friends the longest, consider each other equals and have, in every way, become better as people together. The ones who least get along HAS to go to Josette and Mizuki, internalized homophobia vs raging bi lesbian queen FIGHT, especially with how traditionally feminine Josette presents and how Mizuki is all about being the world’s biggest delinquent punk. Most terrifying team, at least physically, has to go to Kaito/Louis and Johanna. Put a very well-trained thief who knows almost all types of martial arts and the Ultimate Duelist on the same team, give them some direction and watch them destroy the world!

I’ve started watching Dracula movie adaptations in celebration of this years Dracula Daily so here are some Nosferatu (1922) screenshot redraws.
I really love this version of Mina, (oh I’m sorry I meant Ellen, F. W. Murnau’s original character, do not steal!) and how goth she is in this version (plus apparently just having psychic powers for no apparent reason).
If anyone would be interested in me posting like a mini review for the different adaptations and how they hold up to the book (from a dracula daily tumblr readers perspective) and to point out some funny or interesting moments, let me know! (or if anyone has any dracula drawing requests!)
Original under the cut.

I don't even care about the Nosferatu characters but there is something creepy about Eggers' scenario being all "this guy feels like he's a beta cuck in front of (thieving, ignorant, dirty) foreign masc men who constantly humiliate his masculinity and surprise he gets cucked" when this was nowhere in the film nor its source?? The fuck was that about
It's the Jonathan Harker effect.
I.e., a reflexive response from adaptation and spinoff creators who have actually been made aware of all the facets Jonathan Harker--or in this case, his doppelganger Thomas Hutter--possesses within the canon of the novel Dracula/the original Nosferatu and immediately get a bug up their butt about how much he encompasses of what makes them uncomfortable.
Jonathan Harker is a damsel in distress.
Jonathan Harker is kind and not classically manly beside a backdrop of more standard masculinity.
Jonathan Harker is preyed upon in an intimate way by the dark and powerful male Villain, the latter having supernatural ability and desire to collect an undead harem/partners against their will.
Jonathan Harker was left ill and disabled after his escape and so showed weakness, needing aid from others, relying on women (ugh) like the nuns and Mina before he could heal and move forward.
Jonathan Harker loves, cherishes, and worships his wife more than anything, wanting her to take the lead. Without her actions and sacrifice, the Villain would never have been defeated, which he highlights at the close of the novel, just as the Nosferatu iteration must take the lead in ending the film's Villain.
Jonathan Harker, polite little nobody that he is, is the one to transform himself into a Thing That Terrifies the Masculine Conquering Power Fantasy Villain. He sends his former abuser and predator running like a coward into the streets, himself giving chase to kill him in public. It is his knife that lops off the Villain's head while he hides in the dirt after Mina arranged the hunt--tastefully aligned with Nosferatu via Ellen (Mina) fully realizing the martyr role and sacrificing her life not out of amorous want of the Villain, but out of a desire to protect her husband and the town, taking on a masculine role in her own right by making the fatal sacrificial play.
In short: Jonathan-Thomas is a victim. He is antithetical to every macho babe-collecting ooh hoo hoo look at my cool-powered masculine conqueror metaphor that exists within the Dracula-Orlok figure. Jonathan-Thomas is naturally more endearing, blithe, and sweet than the common male hero and follows that by being forced into a traditionally female role as the preyed-upon and imprisoned damsel.
His mere existence throws the Mina-Ellen figure into even brighter contrasted spotlight, where she manages to wholly subvert the expected Man Villain seeks Pretty Girl to Ravish format. Mina-Ellen turns it on its head, making herself into the weapon by which the Villain is defeated, rather than leaving every point of planning and action and sacrifice to a male rescuer. This she does to aid and/or rescue her husband, the actual damsel, and humanity at large.
In the book, Jonathan the Damsel turns the tables with Mina's impetus and guidance, and ultimately slaughters Dracula, who they terrified into running home to hide and skulk.
In the film, Thomas the Damsel's plight spurs Ellen into action, making plans and taking heroic steps all on her own to destroy Orlok when she baits him with her offered blood, leaving Thomas to grieve and weep for her, tragically spared from his attempt to take on Orlok himself.
And male directors and writers like Eggers, along with so so So many before him, absolutely fucking hate that shit. It spoils the whole premise for them. Because Jonathan-Thomas is ruining their vibe, the limping simping little milksop Victorian era soyboy that he is. How does he get to kill their bestie bodypillow stand-in, Dracula, or let the Girl One take charge in Nosferatu to put down Orlok?? Bullshit!
Kick him out, kick him down, and make sure Girl One ditches his lame unmanly ass to bounce on that vampire dick that we all know she reeeally wants, lol
And throw in even more weird racism/xenophobic BS to show how Manly and Sexually Liberated the stinky foreign Romani thieves are in the year twenty-twenty-four because why not I guess
#again: desperately hoping that between the script being almost a decade old and trailers having a tendency to bait-and-switch#I am gritting my teeth as I pray for something more than the sum of its current hinted parts#but yeah#this whole thing has some very familiar disappointing dudebro grudge fingerprints on it#thomas hutter#jonathan harker#ellen hutter#mina harker#nosferatu#nosferatu 2024#dracula

Hi! Really would like to know your opinions about Nosferatu remake considering everything?
Hey! Well, lol, it's all quite funny really in a way. Of course, I'm basing my opinions thus far on promotion materials only like trailers and stuff.
Cause it seems that surprisingly remake is shaping up to be very tropey. Tropey in a sense that it uses lots of fanfic-ish tropes and tries to insert some form of shipping of Ellen with Orlok. And since Nosferatu brand is very much built on “vampire brings plague which destroys city and woman sacrifices herself to kill him and stop him” mode, and it’s kinda a fixed point of 1922 Nosferatu movie and its 1979 remake, it seems the author of the 2024 remake had to work it backwords and make up the reason how Ellen, who still needs to sacrifice herself to Orlok and die, could still be into vampire. So, they gave her some death-wish, death-kink in the remake or something based on the trailer. Which is quite interesting, because it basically changes her whole sacrifice and death. Like in 1922 movie her sacrifice was a big act of heroism, and it was spelled in the movie “A woman pure in heart, who will offer her blood freely to Nosferatu and will keep the vampire by her side until after the cock has crowed”. Her entire deal was that she’s good and pure and sweet. Here Ellen is attracted to Death, dying, so on, it’s mentioned in the trailer that she has a secret and has her condition since childhood – so it’s not Orlok’s influence that made her suddenly into all that stuff, she seems to be like that since forever and Orlok is merely tapping into that. So when Ellen will be giving herself to vampire it will be less about saving the city from plague and vampire who spreads it, while eating half of city’s population, like in 1922 original and its 1979 remake[though I suspect remake!Ellen must be also sad about all that stuff, cause they can’t make her into full blown psychopath] and more about her getting off and getting what she always actually wanted. Something, something sexual liberation and fulfillment which she couldn’t get in life otherwise, but getting now via having sexy times with vampire, even if she dies in the end in the process but it’s all fine, cause she was actually very happy with Death and bonking vampire anyway, lol .
Speaking of which…another big glaring trope is that remake seems to be shitting on Ellen’s human life partner aka husband – Thomas. The trailer puts down Thomas and spells that he sucks in bedroom or something. Which is definitely a choice, but also kinda a huge cliché for vampire media since…a long time. It didn’t happen in 1922 movie or 1979 movie. I mean such stuff is obviously done in order to push forward Ellen-Orlok combo, by introducing reasons why it’s actually understandable that Ellen falls for Orlok. Like yeah, he’s walking cadaver, ugly and smells like rotting meat and he brings Black Death and stuff, but hey, he fucks better than Thomas (metaphorically at least) and vibes with Ellen’s uber goth nature and he's basically the embodiment of Death, while Ellen is super into Death. Extra predictions: while Thomas is supposed to be a good guy overall, based on 1922 movie and its 1979 remake, apart from dunking on Thomas’s sex performance remake probably will be undermining their relationships in other ways, by like showing that Thomas doesn’t really understand Ellen, she’s too weird for him or maybe even scares him at times, with her behavior, so he wouldn’t trust her, etc.….Bonus predictions: at some point in the remake Ellen-Orlok’s deal will be referred to as “dark romance” or “dark love” or something like that to drive a point across that Thomas not only lost by not killing vampire and not saving his wife’s life, but also by losing his wife emotionally and like sexually, because of all that stuff. TDRL: Thomas is getting cucked in more ways than one by narrative in the remake, it seems.
Another weird stuff I got from the trailer is that Ellen seems to be not that smart in the remake actually. Like in 1922 original movie Ellen is the one who takes the lead, does enquiry on her own, reads occult literature and learns about the way how to kill Orlok. Then she comes up with a plan all on her own and sets it in motion all by herself, inviting vampire in and keeping him occupied with her blood until sun destroys him. 1979 remake only built on that - Ellen (named Lucy in remake) not only researched a way how to kill vampire all by herself, but also went and purified vampire’s coffins on her own, and even tried to reason with the townspeople, who didn’t believe her and local blink-and-you-miss-him Van Helsing, who was absolutely useless, then she made up a plan and invited vampire in and kept him with her until the sun destroyed him. Yet in the trailer of the remake we got a scene of local Van Helsing variant character or someone like that giving Ellen a lecturing pep talk about how only she could redeem the town. Eh, lol, what? OG Ellen didn’t need any pep talk and lectures from anyone, she was smart and capable and brave enough herself, both in original movie and its 1979 remake. If anyone, it would be Ellen who would be giving lecturing pep talks to people -and she did in 1979 remake actually. So, like, Ellen in the 2024 remake does not seem to be actually that brave – cause she’s already giddy with concept of Death, plus has some type of hysteria (?) and most likely would be not-so-secretly only happy to die because of her death-kink, her husband doesn’t seem enough for her, Ellen also doesn’t seem to be that smart either – cause she needs another character, a male character specifically, to give her lectures on the issue (???), like is remake giving the whole making up the plan how to kill Orlok to an old dude now (?!), what was that about?
Again, I’m only speculating and throwing out suspicions- predictions on the wall, but so far the trailers gave me huge tropey - cliché vibes from a lot of vampire media, but which previously definitely weren’t in Nosferatu movies.

I don't think Ellen Hutter is the best version of Mina Harker on screen tbh. Ellen is interesting captivating version. But ultimately she dies and doesn't outlive vampire, while the huge point of Mina Harker as character is that she's a survivor. Best screen version of Mina is BBC 1977 version.
Oh, I get what you mean, but I what I meant was that sadly the most popular versions of Mina on-screen have warped her into not being anything like her book counterpart, particularly turning her and Drac into some kind of fairytale romance when the book version is the complete opposite, not to mention ruining her relationship with Jonathan AND erasing her heroism from the narrative entirely. So, even though she sacrifices herself, Ellen Hutter is ironically a better portrayal of Mina Harker (nee Murray) than notable on-screen characters that are literally called Mina Harker (nee Murray).

Hi! I finished Dracula a few days ago, and I love all of the characters, but...
THE HARKERS MY BELOVED
Anyway, do you know of any adaptations that actually manage to get their relationship right?
HARKERS MY BELOVED 💕💕💕 That's awesome to hear! I'm so glad you enjoyed it and loved all the characters!
For my money (disclaimer that I haven't seen anywhere close to all of the Dracula adaptations), by far my favorite adaptation in terms of Jonathan/Mina content is Nosferatu (1922).
(That's them in my icon!) The actors have great chemistry, there are so many great moments like these showing their affection and intimacy, and while I won't spoil anything about the ending, the strength of their bond and willingness to sacrifice everything for each other is crucial to the resolution of the movie (which is somewhat different from the ending of Dracula the book.)
I've jokingly referred to Nosferatu as "Off-Brand Discount Dracula" in the past because it was made without the legal rights to the book, so the character's names are changed (Jonathan and Mina are renamed to Thomas and Ellen Hutter, for example), and it's a very condensed version of the book's story. And yet when it comes to Jonathan and Mina - and maybe even the spirit of the book as a whole - I feel like this adaptation gets it right in a way no adaptation since (at least, of the ones I've watched) really does.
Then there's the BBC miniseries Count Dracula (1977), which is probably the most accurate adaptation we've gotten overall, and certainly one that I enjoy. And Jonathan and Mina's relationship there is sweet and overall faithful to the novel:
And yet... for my money, this adaptation falls a bit flat when it comes to their relationship. It's fine, they're certainly shown to love each other and there's no Dracula/Mina nonsense as in some other adaptations. But there are so many moments and nuances from the book showing just how deep and powerful their bond is that I think this version fails to capture. I think probably the biggest moment where they drop the ball is that you don't see Jonathan holding and comforting Mina after her attack, the way he does in the book.
(On the flipside they did add a scene where Mina shoots a guy to save Jonathan in the final showdown, which was pretty cool!)
That might sound like I'm damning with faint praise, and I guess I am a bit, but this is overall a good solid adaptation and the Jonathan/Mina content we get is nice. That wouldn't be such a big deal if we had amazing adaptations that truly captured the relationships from the book, but unfortunately I don't think we've gotten any that does these characters and relationships full justice. And when it comes to Jonathan/Mina, I honestly think it's been downhill ever since Nosferatu.

You know what? May get flamed for the lack of accuracy for this and I was a little nervous of posting this but life's too short to uhh-- not. I suppose. Here's my silly HC;
They are sisters. If they met, they would have sister dynamic. Lucy and Ellen would get along and no one can tell me any different. Of course Ellen is the older one :3
Also kinda think of her to be the more protective one too. Not overly protective but yeah. Just slightly
I also drew this on Tuesday on the bus, which was very bumpy so 😭 excuse the mess of this. You get my point anyways.
This isn't going on my art account because it's just a silly messy doodle :p
