My notes on ESMP 2 in Katherine's POV

Was raised to be a princess and its politics but does monster hunting in secret, who wants to return glory to her kingdom. Her parents left her to get away from the curse, probably her

Is a lonely emperor at the start

Knows about the fae/fairies from fairy tales read by her dad, forgotten fairies book

Met Fwhip very early on, along made a very early trade with Lizzie

She also made Shelby’s hat very early because Shelby requested it

She met Jimmy after she stole some terracotta from him, they formed an informal alliance right after. Katherine wanted to start a monster slaying business. 

Katherine buys potions from Shelby, fWhip asks help to get carpet and to kill a warden. They died a lot, but she ate the enchanted golden apple and fWhip and Sausage can’t believe she just did that

Katherine also made Scott’s funky hat. Her curse started acting up after she finished talking to Joey, who is convinced that she’s a pirate and in love with her (will revisit this later). Land at one of the sides of the castle is losing color, and is withering. He showed her a trident. 

Sausage and Katherine met, who helped her get a banner for Glimmer Grove. Met Pixl Riffs. The gold that Joey gave her turns out to be stolen from Stratos. She goes to Stratos to return it to meet Joel, became allies. 

Got struck by lightning while she was riding her horse, causing white noise in video to be a half skeleton and a unicorn while the sky is clear. In a mindset of everything is fine and decided to ask Shubble for help, talking about a curse.

Got Shubble to help but it changed nothing of the curse, and Shubble is willing to help Katherine further with research. Then Joey stole a tent from Tumble Town, declared himself as Katherine’s boyfriend, but Katherine doesn’t know if it's a threat of a gift. Katherine thinks Joey is trying to ger in trouble with Jimmy but spotted by Jimmy, Jimmy assumes that she’s stealing from him. But she explained the whole situation and Jimmy fully understands and thanks Katherine. 

Gotten herself a forge. She now has her own weapon, aka battleaxe and battlebow.

Is a magical girl princess when the moon goes down???? Is shit at hiding her identity. When in her quest to slay the monster with her adventuring party, fWhip enforces everyone to take a book of the law? She brought snow men. Adventuring party: Shubble, fWhip, Katherine, and Sausage

She died at the very end from the wither effect

She then meets Gem who visited her who wanted to form an alliance, to get string and start a candle export together. Pirate Joey once again gave her gifts that were all stolen, redstone, lapiz, crystal, raw gold honey block and azlea leaves. Jimmy asks for evidence. Jimmy is willing to help to stop Katherine’s pirate problem by luring Pirate Joey into a jail cell, then Joey shoots him with a gun. Joey thinks this is a BDSM scene and thinks it is a roleplay and a threesome with her and Jimmy. Then assumes that Katherine is into Joey being beaten up by Jimmy, then assumes they’re all dating now. She doesn’t like this

She made him pick everything back up and decided to sail with pirate Joey in the boat to return all the stolen things. Lizzie found out that Joey stole shit from her and kicked them out. She made Joey return all the raw gold from Goblands, then return stuff from Chromia. There’s a warden in Chromia as a “gift” from fWhip. Then they met Gem and returned the stuff but cut out, Katherine builts the market

Katherine has done a quest to kill Jimmy’s warden problem with Sausage with fishing rods. Jimmy is very grateful, Joel decided to disrupt to kill the warden, Joel freed the warden, they finally killed the warden with a bit of dying. They got the head and Jimmy says Katherine deserves it.

Shubble gives Katherine a mangrove sprout and she decides to put it in her secret base, wanting to collect every monster head. Mysterious sign that says that the secret messenger said that they know Katherine’s secret isn't the monster slaying. She tries to go into the nether to get heads, but only got two and she died from it. She crash landed into Sausage’s empire, she meets Dolores who is a warden that Sausage made a home for her. They headed towards the Circle of Rebirth, where it's a setup to do Raids that requires two people, get killed by a vex, and finish a raid.

Joey can’t tell people’s faces, only by their clothes, because she meets Joey in her battle warrior outfit. Then she explains it and Joey is more into her. Joey is illiterate, says defended actually meaning offended, they decided to go do a quest of collecting monster heads. Katherine dies from a charged creeper. But got a zombie and a skeleton head by accident and got a charged creeper head. 

Decided to build a monster museum with her own head in front of it. There is something wrong with her. Give Shubble a tulip. Explains her problems to Shubble and her concerns about Pirate Joey. Filled the market stall with items, then Oli visited her. Flashback to when Katherine made a new outfit for Oli, who Oli was very unhappy about. Oli told Katherine about the festival, where he’s in along with a lot of people. Oli is hosting it, and wanted to get a lot of wool for it, and decided the payment is Katherine having a VIP seat.

Found out about the rift. Decides to make an archery course to “Bathe the Bard.” Both she and Gem did not pay the toll and then got scared by Lizzie who’s doing fortune telling. Joey got slime blocks from the fortune teller that it's a binding contract/to fall in love with him and gave it to Katherine and she rejects it.

She, Gem, and False through The Great Oli’s Bardic Curiosities. learned about his past lives, adventures, and battles. Katherine found a secret selling of Jimmy toys by Joel with Gem, Lizzie and Scott.

Joey vs Gem for the first round of Bathe the bard, Gem won. Turns out joey made a deal so Gem would let him win but Gem broke her promise

False vs Joel. Joel won. Lizzie vs Shubble. Lizzie won

Then there was a fight for Katherine’s hand which was Joey vs Shubble, then Shubble killed Joey with her wand. Katherine interrupted Joey telling Shubble’s secret by pushing him. Katherine said she can’t date anyone or is into anyone because she’s busy repairing her kingdom. “Nobody told me!” - Katherine. Both Joey and Shubble decided to truce, then Katherine said “so we can all hold hands” and they all held hands to be friends. 

Oli concert but then something came out of the rift with an earthquake/world holding on, which was a letter that said: New portal who dis? The sound happened again as the Hermits joined empires.

Scott led Pearl, Cub and Impulse to Katherine’s empire, then quickly exposed her secret plus Scott. She then made two clubs one is BBB and the other is, an accidental dick acronym joke. She gathered the three hermits to be battle buddies. Pearl is murderous, Cub and Impulse want a battle axe. Katherine decided to test them out → will turn this into a more cooler training montage cause of course i can. About secrecy and stuff when it comes to Katherine’s not so secret secret, her secret tbh is from her parents which they do exist. But we never saw them. They all had magical girl transformations, gotta love them. They all got battle axes and they killed some phantoms in a cool montage. They got blown up after the cool montage, Impulse’s cute little woo. The one both Pearl and Cub got were sea monster heads (actually salmon but you know for fic purposes yes also. Kinda awkward when it comes to my worldbuilding lol.). Official club and all, they are like oh let's keep this secret then Impulse immediately kills Pearl with the axe, then Pearl kills Impulse back and Katherine says it's only fair if Cub gets killed. 

Katherine decides to finally plan interior decorating. For some reason wanted to protect sheep, found a sheep in the nether.  Name that sheep Glimmer and then went back on task to find the Hermit Empires. the Hermit Empires which are preserved in glass, and found out that. Hates that people kill sheep, is against sheep killing, she scavenged and found quartz, glass, and enchanted books. 

Oh started decorating for the princess tea party!! She made a throne room. Then for her bed, she put sheep carcass heads.

She finally decided to make houses for her civilians. Fae decided to interact with Katherine.

“Dear Warrior Creature, we have been watching. We need your help. Please gather your friends and help us care for our plant friends. Travel south of the docks to find our composters and” 

Lizzie asks for a lot of blue wool, willing to help out what the fuck is up with mysterious stuff for blue wool

“Be so kind, fill our compost to the brim” to a magical plant with composters. They think they've been scammed. Katherine decides to build a garden. Horn was rang, the magical mushrooms grew. 

“Please kind creature, we ask for your help once again in restoring life to our hollow. The goats grazing nearby have been causing chaos. Please remove them from the area by any means necessary.”

New spawn area, where you can build your own towers and new nether hub. 

Pix got the crown from under the ancient capital, Shubble has some sculk going on. He set the rule as: to donate one artifact.

They all love king Pix. Jimmy donated a fossil with deepslate diamond ores, someone donated a displate emerald ore. Sausage donated the shield of Sanctuary. Katherine donated her battleaxe.

Gem has sunglasses and they both decided to set up a princess tea party. Gem has insulted Katherine’s empire by calling it Glimmer Grave when wondering what they should do for invites. Gem is reconsidering the invite to Sausage, Gem seems kind of disgusted with Sausage.

They all kissed Pix and started to kiss each other, Joey wants to kill him as Gem and Katherine stared in horror. 

Katherine calls them peasants, this is why we hate monarchies. They played hide and seek and Katherine and Gem did it. Gem kills Oli. Pix died under mysterious circumstances and turned into a ghost.

Scott sets up a rule for King Scott. Jimmy is all up for Scott. Oli thinks it's the curse of Glimmer Grove. Rule of making a building in Chromia. She took back her axe when it was in Scott's rule

Shubble checks up on Katherine after the princess party and apologizes for throwing the glass and wonders if Katherine fixed her curse yet. Kathereine said no and Shubble has an idea there must have been something that Katherine has done to get cursed in the first place, Katherine only knows that she was born and she’s always been cursed. Shubble then asks if she had killed someone. Shubble then said she has sculk and wanted Katherine to fix her curse so she can get some help, Katherine didn’t know Shubble has sculk. Shubble for some reason is convinced that Katherine has to fix her curse, Shubble doesn’t want help from Katherine. Shubble: “ I don’t need your help. you can’t even help yourself,” Katherine heart broke sound effect in actual video.

Shubble said the sculk is the result of her own actions, accepted something in her heart and it changed it. Saying that’s what she is now. I think this is further explored in the witch dub.

Katherine is still in denial that there is nothing wrong with her land. Katherine found “Sanctuary dance studio” aka a club with strip poles, she immediately left. Kathereine hates that a lot of things aren’t PG. she builds a little Glimmer Grove castle for Scott’s rule.

For some reason the bees are saying queen bee?? Gem got the crown. Her rule is to give the bees a home. Gem brings the sunshine? 

Katherine is ready to admit there is a curse and ready to admit the problem. Katherine has a goal to become a queen. 

Gem decides to do a gladiator pit to get the crown. Jimmy killed Oli. Jimmy died by Gem. Katherine killed Gem for the crown and made her rule to help people to fix the curse. She then built a prison. Made a punishment that if someone doesn’t want to help, they stay in the night at the prison. She captured a witch that isn’t Shubble.

Sausage made a empanada cart for Shubble as a way to “fix the curse.” Shubble arrives with more sculk, and decides to bring sculk into Katherine’s curse side of the kingdom, and then lock her in jail. Love loses. 

Shubble: Enjoy the crown while you still have it.

Also says she’ll remember this. Katherine can’t play the lute, Oli tries to fix the problem through a song on Katherine’s piano. fWhip returns with a trap, and steals the crown from her, spikes piercing through her body.

Katherine asks help from the fairies and goes  to the fae realm to fix the curse. And it did work. The curse is broken, her parents finally make an appearance only after she fixes the problem. Oh this has angst potential.

MY FAVORITE POETRY OF 2024 (Prologue) This was a bit of a different reading year for me. There were plenty of new books that I enjoyed, but I was mostly dipping into (not rereading cover to cover) books I've read before. Also, I've been reading a lot for my Jewish studies, which is time I wasn't reading fiction or poetry. So while I did read a fair amount, the total of that isn't reflected in this annual end-of-year book post.

On the ground level, this was another good year for me. My second full-length poetry collection, Wrong Horse, was published by Moria Books in January. In October, a chapbook of "spooky" poems, There's Nothing Out There, was published by above/ground press. I had ten poems published across five magazines and six more poems accepted for publication and appearing next year. My second book hasn't gotten as many reviews as I'd hoped so far, but I think its release did help me be part of more readings this year, which was very fun (special shout out to the folks who came out for the Wrong Tour dates).

Of course, I wasn't able to read all I wanted to this year--a good problem to have for the future. And, as always, these books are just my favorites, not a best of list.
