Eliott!! My beloved friend!! Thank you for the ask!!
🥀 favorite angst quote from a published work
This is a quote from my Whumptober fic: Come In With The Rain
He takes another deep breath and wraps his senses around the sound of the rain. It is steadfast and soothing even if it signals death for him and his men if it fails to stop.
His men. They have managed to keep their spirits up despite the dwindling supplies and soaked through tents. Obi-Wan wishes his men at least could have gotten out of here before the storms imprisoned them, but selfishly, he is glad to have their company. After all, there is nothing misery loves more.
Water leaks through everywhere and even Obi-Wan’s “dry” clothes are still always damp. He shivers slightly and tries to imagine himself somewhere warm and dry and far away from here.
And even after all of this, Obi-Wan knows he still loves the rain.
🫐 a line from a published work that you’re proud of, but no one’s mentioned yet - or if you can’t think of one, an underrated line in general
This one is also angsty, but I'm particularly fond of it. (This one is the opener from The Most Loyal Companion)
It was a beautiful day for a funeral.
It was a beautiful day for a funeral in that it was not a beautiful day at all. The rain poured straight down, hard and cold against the heads of the Jedi surrounding the body of one of their children. It was good that it was raining. It permitted the ambiance and somber atmosphere that such an occasion required. A bright, sunny afternoon would have felt wrong somehow. The sun did not yield to such miserable emotions – not in the way a thunderous downpour did at least.
The boy’s now-former Master had his hands held out, willing the Force to keep the rain off of the burning funeral pyre that held the teenage boy. He protected his Padawan one final time.
Batman / Leverage crossover where the Leverage crew shows up at one of those fancy Gothamite Galas or whatever to take down one of Gotham's rich jerk socialites, and Bruce immediately realizes who they are but also knows their reputation so he just kind of tells the rest of the Batfam to let the Leverage crew do their thing and not get involved.
This *mostly* works, since there's plenty of other crap going down to distract the Waynes, but somehow Damian misses the memo and suddenly Gets Involved. The poor Leverage crew finds themselves having to both take down their rich jerk mark AND babysit this terrifying child.
Nate and Sophie are confused, but roll with it (Sophie LOVES Gotham parties there's always so much DRAMA). Hardison repeatedly comments that he feels like he's the only one noticing all the frankly insane comments Damian is making. Parker thinks Damian is the most delightful child she's ever met and asks his opinions on various increasingly violent hypothetical scenarios (which Damian responds to in depth, much to Hardison's chagrin). Eliot spends most of the episode just kind of staring into the middle distance because he can tell Damian is a trained assassin based on his (very distinctive) body language and like WHAT THE HECK this kid is NINE why is he an ASSASSIN dangit this is why Eliot hates Gotham 50% of Gothamites just know how to kill everything apparently
Damian is impressed by the group's efficiency but also unimpressed with the group's general goofiness (Nate ends up on the receiving end of like five bajillion insults). He goes along with the shenanigans playing the part of a weird but ignorant civilian until the very end where right after the team does The Gloat he walks up to them and says something along the lines of "somewhat passable work, 7/10" before jumping out a window and Eliot just groans.
Afterwards Bruce berates Damian because they really don't want to be on the Leverage crew's radar but Damian doesn't really care since it made the Gala more interesting, and all the rest of the Batkids are rolling on the ground with laughter.
okay so since white collar is getting a reboot and leverage redemption is still in production there is an actual chance for a crossover to happen somewhere in the future. hear me out for a second.
1: leverage was at some point supposed to have a crossover with psych which makes me think they wouldn't be opposed to crossovers & white collar did that one promo with gus from psych. which doesn't mean anything. but
2: both shows have thieves/con-men in the main cast.
3: Damien Moreau, Kate Moreau... Need I say more ?
4: A lot of people hc neal as bi during the original run of the show. The showrunners enjoyed how people shipped Neal/Peter which again doesn't mean anything. but considering Matt Bomer is gay and has been involved in a lot of queer movies/shows if he's producing in any capacity there is a possibility that Neal will be confirmed as bi. A lot of people also think Eliot is bi ( and in love with Parker & Hardison but whether that's canon is debatable, I'd say no )
So what I'm saying here, white collar/leverage crossover where Neal & Eliot have a fling it will happen this is not an if it's a when. thank you good night.
the thing about eliot spencer as a character, right. the thing about him.
(and as always your mileage may vary on my analyses so if we disagree that's cool actually)
is that he is in fact a somewhat emotionally constipated idiot who is occasionally sensitive about his perceived masculinity and gets defensive about emotional intimacy around other men (largely hardison, who's much more comfortable expressing affection and embracing a softer kind of masculinity), but eliot displays enough emotional awareness and sensitivity and respect for women etc etc that anyone who's been subjected to that era of television will put on rose-tinted glasses without even looking twice.
(and he is, don't get me wrong, incredibly emotionally aware for a professionally punchy guy with enough trauma to sink the titanic. it still startles me to see.)
on top of which we have the layers and the accessories and the excellent hair with the secret braids and the way he barely has an ego and he's good with kids and protective of his team without taking it too far, and some of us never stood a fucking chance.
hot take but you all NEED to stop telling people to kill themselves.
yes, even *those* people. i don't care if you're talking to some monster who puts live puppies into a wood chipper for fun, don't say that shit.
because mx. puppychipper isn't gonna be affected by your words.
but you know who might be affected? some innocent third party reading the words you said on a public website.
because telling people to kill themselves says "suicide is a punishment for being a bad person. bad people, upon realizing they're bad, should simply commit suicide instead of working to atone for their actions."
and that is NOT a message you wanna be normalizing to anyone, but ESPECIALLY people with depression (who, let's be real, make up a higher than average chunk of this site's userbase). whose mental illness is already telling them that 1: they're an inherently terrible worthless person no matter what they do 2: death is an appealing option.
is reading "kill yourself" once or twice gonna make them do it? nah, probably not. but reading it multiple times a day every day is gonna make their mental health worse. it's probably not good for your mental health to be saying that kind of thing, either.
just knock that shit off. the world is already so hostile to people with mental illness, and managing mental illness and unlearning unhealthy thought patterns is already so difficult. you don't need to be out here making it worse.
lots of love and relatable posts about buzzcuts which. hot. but honestly, shoutout to long haired butches too. long hair + masc is and remains one of the hottest looks in human history. make some noise out there
