Ooh first grade stories! I love those! One time I was in first grade and the teacher told us to get in a line and to not run, however, us being little 6-7 year olds, we decided to not listen to her because back then everyone wanted to be the line leader and in the race to be first this one kid with an "S" name accidentally got pushed into the metal garbage can and his head hit the rim of the garbage can and he started bleeding everywhere.

I don't really remember what happened after that (other than that we all panicked and he had to get an ambulance to the hospital so there was probably a stay put put into place.

I also don't remember if we got to go home early or not. In fact I don't really remember much about what happened after he hit his head other than there was blood, he wasn't responding, we were panicking and we had to get out of the way when the ambulance people came to get him (though I also don't remember where we all went to get out of the way).

Now that I think about it it's not a very good memory but at least when he came back everyone thought it was cool he had stitches in his head (he had 4) because we thought it made him look cool and tough and that made him feel better. Idk, we were weird kids.

But hey, at least we learned not to run and push and shove.

If my mom sees a significant amount of blood she gets lightheaded, and has fainted on some occasions. Once it happened when we were kids, I wasn't there to witness it but I heard the story from my dad. Basically my brothers, around 7 or 8 at the time, were playing outside while my mom was making their lunch, and she accidentally cut her finger. It wasn't anything serious, but it drew a fair bit of blood and she passed out. My dad saw this and rushed over, but he didn't really know what to do so he just sort of started slapping her to wake her up (not recommended, but he had no idea and panicked)

At that exact moment my brothers both came in from playing, and all they saw was our mom unconscious on the floor and our dad slapping her. So, like, without even saying a word to each other they both just INSTANTLY start whaling on him, like, full blown attack mode to defend our mom. Which obviously didn't help the situation, but she did wake up and everything was fine.

Now our dad says that he's actually really glad they attacked him over what they thought was going on, because it means he raised good boys. And I still think that's true, they're very good boys.

when i was a kid i fell in love with dandelions. when i told my parents, they said they were just weeds, not flowers at all. i was always upset on the dandelions behalf- why didnt people love them too? why were they a problem when they were just as pretty?

I have this headcanon that when the Underworld was reopened and the orphan kids finally got to go to school, the Moles would ask Sampo for help with school projects.

Like, imagine Hook has a show + tell in her class, and, initially, she is planning on showing her digitron, only for the teacher to deem it as "dangerous" and not let her.

Sampo happens to be babysitting her when she tells him how "unfair" that is, so the next time he goes out to the snow plains he brings an artifact from one of the destroyed houses and gives to to Hook so she can complete her assignment.

Cue Gepard arriving to an elementary school because the teachers are saying that a blue-haired man gave a 6-year old a valuable artifact.

do you ever think about how all you used to draw when you were 10 was ponies and that you should still know how to do that, then get an idea and proceed to draw something like these in nearly one sitting and it turns out better than any drawing you've done in the entire past month

I imagine Jason didn't fully really see Dick as his brother, that was more like a distant figure. Nightwing who's a hero and very cool and sometimes tells him he's doing a good job. Like? Augh. Putting this into words

He never truly yearned or hoped for Dick to hang out more, to be his brother, to take him on trips in and out of uniform. Like he thought about it, but it just. Didn't seem the realm of possibility. Dick was cool, he liked him, he would've loved to hang out with him more. But the idea having an actual proper relationship never really fully crossed him. He didn't agonise over Dick not being a brother because it just. Didn't come to mind, it didn't seem a possibility, it just wasn't a thing. Why would he expect Dick to be a brother to him, why would he ever expect Dick to hang out with him more

Adventures in Librarian-ing

Today when I was getting home from work (which is two blocks away from where I live) three of my students were hanging out outside the apartment complex I live at and they were like

"MISS FLECHA????!!!!"

And they got into that chatty mode kids get when super excited, showering me with questions. Did I always walk home from work? What time do I usually leave in the morning? What was I doing there? I LIVED there? NO WAY!!!

"You mean you live in the same building as me????!!!" one of the kids gaped, vibrating with excitement. We live on different floors, but yes.

"Other Kid, SHE LIVES HERE!!!!" they bellowed at a fourth student of mine who walked up to us. ("OH MY GOOOOD!!!!")

It turns out that that kid is my next-door neighbour. Like, we share a wall and everything.

We found that out when I pointed out which window was mine.

They followed me home like a pack of excited puppies and got to meet my mom (who lives with me).

They later stopped by while eating freezies to say hi again and to peek into my house in wonder. They were SO fascinated at the fact they not only live by their teacher but also know what their house looks like, lol.

if i wanted to know who you were hanging with while i was gone i would have asked you it's the kind of cold, fogs up windshield glass but i felt it when i passed you there's an ache in you put there by the ache in me but if it's all the same to you it's the same to me

This is what I have been working on this week. A4 paper in gouache. It's a rather difficult medium to work with. I do like the consistency, and the matte finish. But I found it hard to make the colours come out bright (I suppose gouache is like that?). I used coloured pencils and what is supposed to be oil pastels (it was straight up chalk lol). I think it could still use more work, but I fear I would just ruin it if I work any further. Overall, I'm happy with the result! Next up will be acrylics! Progress shots under the cut:

I just stumbled upon a trailer for The Wild Robot, and was shocked to see a trailer for an animated movie that actually looks good. If this turns out to actually be good, between this and Puss in Boots we may need to start talking about a Dreamworks Renaissance.
