Tumblr media
Platinum hit makers H.E.R. and Tauren Wells premiered the video for their popular single "Hold Us Together (Hope Mix)," available now at all major digital music providers, in a co-artist release by RCA and Provident Entertainment. The two acclaimed singer/songwriters united their talents on H.E.R.'s song "Hold Us Together," to create an empowering duet on this new recording.
In March, the two artists released the “Hope Mix” of “Hold Us Together,” originally recorded by H.E.R. for the soundtrack of the Disney+ film Safety. Written by H.E.R. and Josiah Bassey, the song shares a timely message of hope and encourages listeners to hold on through difficult times.
Both H.E.R. and Tauren Wells have firmly established themselves as dynamic and trailblazing artists who are helping to change today’s music landscape. H.E.R. is fresh off of two GRAMMY® wins for Song of the Year(“I Can’t Breathe”) and Best R&B Song (Robert Glasper’s “Better Than I Imagined” featuring H.E.R. and Meshell Ndegeocello) and earning an OSCAR® for Best Original Song(“Fight For You” from the award-winning film Judas and the Black Messiah).
Beloved for his platinum and gold-certified Contemporary Christian Music hits “Hills and Valleys” and “Known,” Wells released his second studio album, Citizen of Heaven, in 2020. An eight-time GRAMMY® Award nominee, he received two nods at the 63rd annual awards for Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance/Song for “Famous For (I Believe)” featuring Jenn Johnson and Best Contemporary Christian Music Album for Citizen of Heaven. Wells just received a 2021 Billboard Music Award nomination in the Top Christian Song category for his multi-week No. 1 single “Famous For” (I Believe) with Jenn Johnson.

Okay, folks, you all knew this was coming...
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
SO GOOD!!! OH, MY GOD!!! THAT WAS SO GOOD!!!
*deep breath* Okay. Now that that’s out of my system, time for the usual recap. Also, since this post is extremely long, you may skip down to the very bottom to find a tl;dr version of my predictions for season four based on what we saw here.
These last three episodes were AMAZING!!! And boy did they keep me on my toes! Even though it wasn’t the first of the three, I’d like to start this recap with episode 25, aka Goddammit, Will You Stop Horsing Around, Grandon, And Finally Freaking Confirm Or Deny Whether Or Not My Son Is Dead?????
I’ll admit I have lost a little (A veeeeeery little) amount of hope that Wally’s still alive somewhere. Thank God for that ending, though! There is still hope. But also, did anyone else pick up on the serious gay vibe Zatanna was giving off in the last two episodes? I know a lot of people are going to say her “Artemis, you know I love you” line was out of friendship. But, then again, this is Tumblr. When it comes to people being in lesbians with each other, we all kinda hope for the best here. And I have spent many an hour, a day, a week, a month, 525,600 minutes (You get the point) of my life analyzing whether or not people have romantic intentions or attractions in TV shows and movies. And, folks, I can say without a doubt that that “I love you” really meant “I love you.” And combine that with the fact that Artemis seems to finally have closure over Wally...
I think Snaibsel has a real shot at becoming canon next season. It’s either that or Zatanna is really Rocket’s significant other who we still know NOTHING about. Seriously, why is that? Why can’t we get a serious confirm or deny out of Grandon about even something this small? I highly doubt answering the question of whether or not Rocket is married to a woman would really “spoil” anything. In fact, it would probably get MORE people to watch the show because of the representation. So, yeah. We may be able to add two, possibly three depending on how Artemis feels, people to the LGBT characters list in Young Justice. On another note, I like to think that Will has also finally moved on. While he may not be in love with Artemis (Thank God!!!), I believe that him blowing out the candle in that final scene means that he has finally moved on from Cheshire, given that the first candle going out seemed to symbolize Artemis moving on from Wally, and now Will will finally start looking for someone else.
Then there’s episode 24, which all I can say about is TAKE THAT, GRANNY, YOU OLD BAG!!! Oh, and the same goes to Lex Luthor in episode 26, btw. Also, yeah, I guarantee you that Bart and Ed are a couple. Int he X-Pit, Ed’s first instinct wasn’t to save Jaime who was clearly suffering the most. It was to save Bart! Add that to the animation sequence that I can only assume was supposed to be a cheek kiss that was edited out because the crew severely underestimated Tumblr’s ability to see and analyze everything that ever happens in a show even when it happens at superspeed and thought they wouldn’t need to waste extra animation money on adding it in *inhales after such a long spiel* plus the fact that he was so concerned over Bart’s safety in Elder Wisdom, and you’ve got yourselves one can of 100% certified canon Goldpulse (Or Zetaflash or Bartuardo. Seriously, when are we all going to agree on one single ship name for those two? Which should definitely be #goldpulse, btw).
Also, go Vic for finally accepting who he is! He even went back to school and befriended Cisco, who I guarantee we’ll be seeing next season as Vibe! Honestly, my only real complaint about that episode is that the rest of The Outsiders didn’t get too much screentime in that or any of the other episodes released today besides Cyborg and Beast Boy. Same goes to Batman Inc, which I’m hoping we’ll be seeing more of next season. i.e. the totally mishandled and underused Cass Cain, Stephanie Brown, Cissie King-Jones, and, for the second season in a row, (Goddammit, Grandon!) Tim Drake.
Actually, I’m kinda betting that the so-called “core group of characters” that next season is supposed to be centered around will actually consist of the ORIGINAL Young Justice characters from the comics. Namely, Superboy, Impulse (I know he’s named Kid Flash now, but you get it), Tim Drake’s Robin, Wonder Girl, and maaaaaaaaybe Arrowette. Still not really sure if she’ll be featured more, or if they’ll switch her out for Spoiler to add some relationship drama to Cassie and Tim who I guess are still a couple??? But yeah, I think that might be the direction the next season is going.
Finally, that brings us to episode 26, and I have four words for you that perfectly describe my feelings about it: LONG LIVE THE LEGION!!! Legion of Superheroes was one of my absolute favorite shows growing up, so I am SO HYPED that they’re doing them next season! My guess is that the story will be that The Outsiders were the precursors to the 31st century’s Legion of Superheroes. i.e. a public team of meta teens who fight for good and people like them. I wonder which Legion characters they’ll include. Most likely it’ll be Brainiac 5, Saturn Girl, and Lightning Lad for sure, but then they’ll probably also throw in Cosmic Boy and maybe a few others. I need to do some digging on which Legionnaires were most important in the comics. Plus, with the Legion here now, we’ll probably also get Supergirl since she plays a big role in their story, and she could also play a big role in The Light’s plans to serve as another, better Superman copy that they can use to destroy The Team,  The Outsiders, and the League.
Then you’ve got Fred Bugg openly revealing who he is to his classmates, which is AMAZING! And we’ve finally gotten a good twist on the Judas Contract storyline! Assuming she isn’t dead by the time it happens, I really hope we’ll be able to see more of Terra acting as a hero in season four! And I’m really excited to see what Brion will be like as a villain!
Which finally brings us to predictions. What will happen next in Young Justice? My guess is that the next season will be focused on the Legion of Superheroes coming to present day to fulfill a mission similar to Bart’s original mission in season two, but on a much larger scale. I’m guessing that they’re trying to prevent Vandal Savage, The Light, and/or Darkseid from taking over the galaxy in a way that could potentially alter time to change the future the Legion knows and comes from.
Secondly, I’m guessing that the next time jump will not be nearly as long as I originally anticipated. Actually, I’m guessing that there will be NO TIME JUMP AT ALL. Since the season didn’t end on the 4th of July or New Year’s, my guess is that the writers are throwing out the original formula for how they structure each season, meaning there’s a good chance this coming season will pick up right where season three left off.
Also most likely coming next season, we’ll have the Jason Todd storyline to deal with, we’ll have Artemis trying to discover new love (Possibly with Zatanna, or the other most likely option would be Icicle Jr since the two of them were actually married in the comics), and with the addition of characters from the 31st century to the series, we just might be seeing the Reverse Flash and Inertia, which could introduce us to the concept of the Speed Force, which will in turn finally lead to bringing Wally back from the dead. However, if Wally isn’t brought back by the end of next season, there’s pretty much a 100% chance we’ll never be getting him back at all.
So, to sum up my thoughts and theories: new characters we should be seeing next season include the Legion of Superheroes, Supergirl, and Reverse Flash, the season’s main focused characters will most likely be the original Young Justice team from the comics, and if we don’t get Wally back next season we won’t get him back at all. That’s all for now, folks. As always, stay whelmed, feel the aster, and have a very crash rest of your day!

Superstitions Research -
To understand more about my chosen topic of routines/rituals, I decided to interlink my initial concept of superstitions. This is because, I find superstitions really interesting: how they have become a societal norm, where they originated from and how people can/have become fixated on conforming to the rituals associated with superstitions. Examples of the types of rituals associated with superstitions are listed: not opening an umbrella inside, trying not to smash mirrors, not walking on cracks in the street, ‘touching wood’ to not jinx anything, or to certify that something will happen – I find it interesting how most of us commit these rituals, and others like it, even if we are not intentionally wanting to. Therefore, I decided to research into the following, to broaden my knowledge on my chosen topic, to certify ideas generation for my FMP:
-      Most common superstitions, and why this is
-      The origin of the most common superstitions
-      Why people believe/conform to superstitions
Findings:
Most common superstitions, and why this is:
Friday the 13th= bad luck– one reason as to why Friday the 13this considered as bad luck is because, Judas was the 13thguest at the last supper and Jesus was crucified on a Friday.
Walking under a ladder = bad luck–it is believed that when walking under a ladder you disturb the balance of life. This because, the shape created under an opened ladder is a triangle, and the triangle, in some mythologies, signifies life. Thus, it is believed that walking through this triangle tempts fate, and awakens evil spirits who do not want to be disturbed: causing the realisation of bad luck occurring to that individual.
Breaking a mirror, 7 years bad luck– It is said that because mirrors show our reflection, it thus, reflects our soul back to us. Thus, if a mirror is broken, it breaks the soul; the bad luck lasts for 7 years, as it takes the body 7 years to replace every cell in the body.
Opening an umbrella inside = bad luck– As umbrellas shade us from the sun, it is believed that they are protective/magical/special. Therefore, when opening an umbrella inside, away from the sun and its powers, it is said to offend the sun gods, which thus looms the potential of bad luck happening to both the person who opened it, and the people who live with that person.
Black cat crossing your path = bad luck– It is considered bad luck, as during the middle ages, witches kept black cats and witches were disapproved off and hated by the rest of the public. Despite these beliefs disappearing from today’s society, it seems that the belief of the black cat being bad luck, has withstood the tales of time, as it is still superstition believed by many, today.
To ‘touch wood’ – good luck/not to jinx things– As wood is a solid material, it seems that people use this knowledge to ‘anti-jinx’ things that they want to happen or things that they do not want to happen. For example, someone might say “touch wood this exam goes well” “touch wood I do well” “touch wood I get an A”; they are wanting these things so badly, they have to conform to something, to stop their anxieties forwarding/spiralling out of control.
Origin of the most common superstitions:
Walking under a ladder: - comes from Egypt. The shape formed under a ladder, a triangle, was considered as sacred (shown through the pyramids) and a gateway to the gods, and to walk through the triangle was to disrespect/desecrate them.
Breaking a mirror = 7 years bad luck – comes from ancient Greece. As people became curious about seeing into the future/understanding their life path, they often went to fortune tellers. Fortune tellers would analyse their life path, by dipping a mirror into water and asking the persons in question to look into the mirror: if their reflection was distorted, it was believed that he would die in the near future. // Ancient Romans, also believed that breaking a mirror resulted in bad luck. This is because, they believed that the reflection contained a part of our soul, so when breaking a mirror you are also breaking a part of yourself: health/well-being/fortune/relationships, etc.
‘Touching on wood’ – comes from pagan beliefs. Pagan’s believed that trees resided good spirits and god, thus knocking on wood is certifying god being with you and protecting you.
Black cat crossing your path = good luck, comes from ancient Egyptians, who worshipped cats.
Black cat crossing your path = bad luck, comes from Europe (in the middle ages). It is considered bad luck, as during the middle ages, witches kept black cats and witches were disapproved off and hated by the rest of the public. As well as this, people believed that black cats were the work of the devil. Despite these beliefs disappearing from today’s society, it seems that the belief of the black cat being bad luck, has withstood the tales of time, as it is still superstition believed by many, today.
Friday the 13th= bad luck– one reason as to why Friday the 13this considered as bad luck is because, Judas was the 13thguest at the last supper and Jesus was crucified on a Friday.
Opening an umbrella inside = bad luck– Ancient Egyptians. As umbrellas shade us from the sun, it was believed that they are protective/magical/special. Therefore, when opening an umbrella inside, away from the sun and its powers, it was believed to offend the sun gods, which thus looms the potential of bad luck happening to both the person who opened it, and the people who live with that person.
Why do people believe/conform to superstitions –
-      To reduce stress and anxiety, people conform to certain superstitions/rituals, such as touching wood, to ensure that they do not tempt fate/attract bad luck to things happening in their lives.
-      Some people can become fixated with carrying out such rituals/routines/beliefs; they become anxious that if they do not perform certain things each day, that this would cause bad luck to return to them. This is why, more often than not, people can become too fixated, leading them to have OCD – where these tasks become out of control and take over people’s lives.
-      Word of mouth/generational conformity: throughout the generations, people have told their kids, who have told their kids, about certain beliefs, which has now caused societal conformity to believing in these superstitions; as they cannot be proved or disproved the cycle continues, and people try and live their lives without tempting their fate, etc.
-      Superstitions/beliefs have been proved to help promote positive mental attitude; people wear charms, certain colours and clothing, visit places of good fortune and use particular numbers, which are all elements of superstition/belief, known to allow real decision making a lot easier and less stressful, as people feel good in their skin/overall well-being.

This week’s ongoing Bible teaching series will be part 3 of Acts chapter 15
Tumblr media
The Council's Letter to the Gentile Believers
[Acts chapter 15, verses 23-41]
For website viewing, click here :-)
Last week when we left off at the conclusion of part two of Acts chapter 15, the apostle James had just made some concluding remarks after Peter had finished speaking. A nearly unanimous decision had been made at that first Council at Jerusalem, which was that new Gentile converts to the Faith should not be compelled to practice Jewish customs. This teaching has served ever since as a kind of rule book on how the Gospel should be taught, as well as what not to teach. Under no circumstances should any Gentile be compelled to engage in any of the religious practices of their Jewish brethren in Christ. In fact, Peter conclusively argued that this should be the other way around, that all should adhere to the teachings of our Lord and Savior. Jesus taught us all that the Law of Moses has been fulfilled. Those were laws that had been covered over by the shed blood of Christ, and certified by his resurrection on the morning of the third day. Hallelujah, thank you Jesus!
This week as we move on to part 3 of Acts 15, we find the contents of the letter sent by the council at Jerusalem back to Antioch, a city in Turkey that still exists today. In it was contained the best news of all, which is that all are equal under the New Law of Christ, including Jews and Gentiles and everyone else. So let's continue this week where we concluded last, beginning at verse 23. “23) With them they sent the following letter:
'The apostles and elders, your brothers, To the Gentile believers in Antioch, Syria and Cilicia: Greetings. 24) We have heard that some went out from us without our authorization and disturbed you, troubling your minds by what they said. 25) So we all agreed to choose some men and send them to you with our dear friends Barnabas and Paul — 26) men who have risked their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. 27) Therefore we are sending Judas and Silas to confirm by word of mouth what we are writing. 28) It seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us not to burden you with anything beyond the following requirements: 29) You are to abstain from food sacrificed to idols, from blood, from the meat of strangled animals and from sexual immorality. You will do well to avoid these things. Farewell.'
30) So the men were sent off and went down to Antioch, where they gathered the church together and delivered the letter. 31) The people read it and were glad for its encouraging message. 32) Judas and Silas, who themselves were prophets, said much to encourage and strengthen the believers.” (Acts 15, verses 23-32)
Right from the outset, the purpose of the letter is quite clear. The letter was to put to rest false and misleading teachings about the Word of the Lord, which is tantamount to calling God a liar. These “teachings”, which we have already discussed at length, were perpetrated by the Pharisees – and they were affiliated with those who had handed Christ over to the Romans to be crucified. “25) So we all agreed to choose some men and send them to you with our dear friends Barnabas and Paul — 26) men who have risked their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. 27) Therefore we are sending Judas and Silas to confirm by word of mouth what we are writing.” Let's not forget that the origin of the argument about Gentiles taking on Jewish customs had originated at Antioch. When Paul and Silas first reached Jerusalem, they encountered the same assertions there, with both Christian and Pharisee waiting to greet the two missionaries, one to welcome and embrace them, but the other to accuse and misled them – as if the Holy Spirit could somehow be misled.
Next, the church at Antioch – and elsewhere since the message was hand copied and resent countless times – was reminded that the two men sent as witnesses had risked their lives for the Gospel. This was far more, the apostles and elders wrote back, than any of those who had tried to inject false teachings into the Gospel had ever done for Christ – and ever would. The letter then reiterates that we went over last week, about food sacrificed to idols, abstention of meat from strangled animals and from blood. So, “....they gathered the church together and delivered the letter. 31) The people read it and were glad for its encouraging message. 32) Judas and Silas, who themselves were prophets, said much to encourage and strengthen the believers.” This entire episode concerning Jew against Gentile – and the most cherished beliefs of each – was now behind them all, and everyone was quite relieved that this matter of faith had been settled. And now let's conclude this week's ongoing study, starting at verse 33.
“33) After spending some time there, they were sent off by the believers with the blessing of peace to return to those who had sent them there. 34) But Silas decided to remain there. 35) But Paul and Barnabas remained in Antioch, where they and many others taught and preached the word of the Lord. 36) Some time later Paul said to Barnabas, 'Let us go back and visit the believers in all the towns where we preached the word of the Lord and see how they are doing.' 37) Barnabas wanted to take John, also called Mark, with them, 38) but Paul did not think it wise to take him, because he had deserted them in Pamphylia and had not continued with them in the work. 39) They had such a sharp disagreement that they parted company. Barnabas took Mark and sailed for Cyprus, 40) but Paul chose Silas and left, commended by the believers to the grace of the Lord. 41) He went through Syria and Cilicia, strengthening the churches.” (Acts 15, verses 33-41)
So now we see that everyone went back to Antioch except for Silas, who presumably decided to remain and to study and learn from the apostles there in Jerusalem. But Paul and Barnabas continued to preach and teach the Gospel at Antioch, including the breaking of bread at “Shabbot”, which was celebrated daily. Interestingly enough, when we compare a Shabbot celebration with its Gentile equivalent, 'potluck dinners', we find they are fairly similar. One day Paul is feeling a bit nostalgic, so he decides it would be a good idea to revisit some of the churches they have planted. This, however, is where he and Barnabas came into quite a bit of disagreement. As you saw, their differences were over a choice of people who were to be on their team. “37) Barnabas wanted to take John, also called Mark, with them, 38) but Paul did not think it wise to take him, because he had deserted them in Pamphylia and had not continued with them in the work. 39) They had such a sharp disagreement that they parted company....”
“John, also called Mark”, was the composer of the Gospel of Mark, as we know it today. So, for Paul to refuse to work with Mark comes as a bit of a surprise, but Paul could be a fairly rigid individual when it came to his beliefs. Evidently the apostle Mark, one of the original Twelve, had made a decision to step away from the ministry at some point in the fairly recent past. Presumably Mark was at a stage in his own walk with the Lord where he felt well enough to resume the ministry. Paul, on the other hand, felt that since Mark had left the ministry once before, he might change his mind and leave again. In fact this never did occur after Mark rejoined the rest of the apostles. He stayed with the early Church from then on, and was ultimately martyred for his faith.
So we can see that, in this regard, Paul not only underestimated Mark and so judged him when he shouldn't have, but Paul could be pretty tough when it came to his judgment of other people in general. Don't forget that, before Paul (then known as Saul) gave his heart to Christ, his prior occupation had been an undercover operative for the Sanhedrin. On occasion, he was well known for acting as judge, jury and executioner all at once. Paul was nobody to be trifled with, and he could get extremely tough in a hurry with other men. Let's not forget that this is the same man who said all gay people are condemned no matter what, and that all women should “be silent” during church services. I do not believe either of those last two are true. Prior to his conversion, Saul also thought all Christians should be killed no matter what, too. So we see clear evidence here that the apostle Paul could be very rigid and judgmental at times.
“Barnabas took Mark and sailed for Cyprus, but Paul chose Silas and left, commended by the believers to the grace of the Lord.” And so, they resolved their conflict by splitting into two teams. And thanks to all that had occurred up to this point, the early Church continued to grow by leaps and bounds. Next week as we move on to chapter 16, we will find a new member of the early church's apostolic team of leaders, a young protege by the name of Timothy. I look forward to seeing you all back at that time. Enjoy the rest of your week!
