The Importance of Quality Control in Electrical Component Manufacturing
As an electrical components manufacturing company, ensuring the quality of our products is of paramount importance. At Popular Engineering, we understand that the reliability and performance of our electrical components have a direct impact on the overall functionality of the devices and systems they are used in. In this blog, we will discuss the importance of quality control in electrical component manufacturing and how it affects the entire supply chain.
Why Quality Control is Crucial
Electrical components are used in a wide range of applications, from consumer electronics to industrial machinery, medical devices, and even aerospace systems. The failure of a single component can have catastrophic consequences, resulting in equipment downtime, financial losses, and even risk to human life. Therefore, it is essential to ensure that electrical components meet the required standards of quality, reliability, and performance.
Quality control is a critical aspect of electrical component manufacturing, as it helps to identify and eliminate defects, ensuring that only high-quality products are delivered to customers. A robust quality control process involves testing and inspecting components at various stages of production, from raw material sourcing to final product assembly.
The Consequences of Poor Quality Control
The consequences of poor quality control in electrical component manufacturing can be severe. Some of the potential risks include:
Component Failure: A faulty electrical component can fail prematurely, leading to equipment downtime, repair costs, and even safety risks.
System Failure: The failure of a single component can cause an entire system to malfunction, resulting in significant financial losses and reputational damage.
Recalls and Litigation: If a faulty component is discovered after it has been shipped to customers, the manufacturer may be forced to issue a recall, which can be costly and damaging to the brand.
Loss of Customer Trust: Repeated instances of poor quality can erode customer trust and loyalty, leading to a loss of business and revenue.
The Benefits of Quality Control
On the other hand, a robust quality control process can bring numerous benefits to an electrical components manufacturing company like Popular Engineering. Some of the advantages of quality control include:

Cheap Drones Defeat Even The Most Modern Russian Tanks - Technology Org

Cheap Drones Defeat Even The Most Modern Russian Tanks - Technology Org
In the Donetsk region, the Ukrainians destroyed something impressive. It turns out, the pride of the Russian armoured forces explodes as easily as their old tanks. And this has to be worrying for them, because drones are small and pretty much homemade – they can improve much faster than main battle tanks.
The defenders of Ukraine started destroying T-90M tanks with anti-tank missiles at first. Image credit: Armyinform.com.ua via Wikimedia (CC BY 4.0)
Forbes reports that near Avdiivka, a Russian assault group, probably belonging to the 3rd Army, attacked Ukrainian positions. The attack involved 6 tanks such as T-80BVM and T-90M, infantry fighting vehicles BMP-2 and other equipment, including the TOS-1 multiple launch rocket system. The Russians approached menacingly, but were stopped by the kamikaze drones of the Ukrainian 60th and 63rd Mechanised Brigades.
Some Russian soldiers managed to survive – they hastily withdrew, abandoning 6 tanks, including 4 T-90Ms, and other equipment. The TOS-1 was destroyed almost immediately as it is a well-hated weapon among the defenders of Ukraine.
What is strange about this story? The T-90M ‘Proryv’ is the most modern Russian tank in existence. This title would go to the T-14 Armata tank, but it does not exist in reality. Thus, the T-90M, in service since 2016, is the most modern Russian tank in Ukraine and in the Russian forces in general. The Ukrainian soldiers already knew that the Proryv could be destroyed with anti-tank missiles, despite it having the dynamic protection tiles. But the T-90M also has to fear cheap FPV drones.
A drone costing only 500-550 dollars can damage a T-90M worth millions. Even if it is not immediately destroyed, it can be damaged so much that the Russians will have to abandon it and leave it in the fields for complete destruction.
The defenders of Ukraine have an explanation for why this is the case. Andriy Rudik, a representative of the Ukrainian Center for the Research of Captured and Advanced Military Equipment, says that the T-90M is not even a new tank. Experts say that the T-90M is a modernized T-72B3. The fact that the T-90 was based on the T-72 architecture and was supposed to replace it is not surprising.
However, Ukrainian experts claim that the T-90M is not new at all. According to them, the Russians are pulling T-72B3s out of storage and modernizing them by installing thermal imagers, targeting systems, electronics, additional armour and more powerful engines, transforming the T-72B3 into a T-90M. This results in a fundamentally updated T-72B3, but not a radically new tank.
Be that as it may, the fact is that the T-90M explodes just as easily as other Russian tanks, and cheap drones do kill it. Of course, Russian main battle tanks can be improved, but this would take a while. Meanwhile, the FPV drones are improving constantly, and new ideas there can be implemented almost instantly due to the lack of standardization in their manufacturing process.

Athletes Go for the Gold with NASA Spinoffs
NASA technology tends to find its way into the sporting world more often than you’d expect. Fitness is important to the space program because astronauts must undergo the extreme g-forces of getting into space and endure the long-term effects of weightlessness on the human body. The agency’s engineering expertise also means that items like shoes and swimsuits can be improved with NASA know-how.
As the 2024 Olympics are in full swing in Paris, here are some of the many NASA-derived technologies that have helped competitive athletes train for the games and made sure they’re properly equipped to win.
Tumblr media
The LZR Racer reduces skin friction drag by covering more skin than traditional swimsuits. Multiple pieces of the water-resistant and extremely lightweight LZR Pulse fabric connect at ultrasonically welded seams and incorporate extremely low-profile zippers to keep viscous drag to a minimum.
Swimsuits That Don’t Drag
When the swimsuit manufacturer Speedo wanted its LZR Racer suit to have as little drag as possible, the company turned to the experts at Langley Research Center to test its materials and design. The end result was that the new suit reduced drag by 24 percent compared to the prior generation of Speedo racing suit and broke 13 world records in 2008. While the original LZR Racer is no longer used in competition due to the advantage it gave wearers, its legacy lives on in derivatives still produced to this day.

Trilion Quality Systems worked with NASA’s Glenn Research Center to adapt existing stereo photogrammetry software to work with high-speed cameras. Now the company sells the package widely, and it is used to analyze stress and strain in everything from knee implants to running shoes and more.
High-Speed Cameras for High-Speed Shoes
After space shuttle Columbia, investigators needed to see how materials reacted during recreation tests with high-speed cameras, which involved working with industry to create a system that could analyze footage filmed at 30,000 frames per second. Engineers at Adidas used this system to analyze the behavior of Olympic marathoners' feet as they hit the ground and adjusted the design of the company’s high-performance footwear based on these observations.

Martial artist Barry French holds an Impax Body Shield while former European middle-weight kickboxing champion Daryl Tyler delivers an explosive jump side kick; the force of the impact is registered precisely and shown on the display panel of the electronic box French is wearing on his belt.
One-Thousandth-of-an-Inch Punch
In the 1980s, Olympic martial artists needed a way to measure the impact of their strikes to improve training for competition. Impulse Technology reached out to Glenn Research Center to create the Impax sensor, an ultra-thin film sensor which creates a small amount of voltage when struck. The more force applied, the more voltage it generates, enabling a computerized display to show how powerful a punch or kick was.

Astronaut Sunita Williams poses while using the Interim Resistive Exercise Device on the ISS. The cylinders at the base of each side house the SpiraFlex FlexPacks that inventor Paul Francis honed under NASA contracts. They would go on to power the Bowflex Revolution and other commercial exercise equipment.
Weight Training Without the Weight
Astronauts spending long periods of time in space needed a way to maintain muscle mass without the effect of gravity, but lifting free weights doesn’t work when you’re practically weightless. An exercise machine that uses elastic resistance to provide the same benefits as weightlifting went to the space station in the year 2000. That resistance technology was commercialized into the Bowflex Revolution home exercise equipment shortly afterwards.

Sensors used in the manufacturing industry monitor the performance of various processes and aspects of machine operation, collecting data to determine normal baseline levels of operation while also detecting even the most minuscule fluctuations in that performance.
Sensor/Detectors/Transducers are electronic or electrical devices. These special electronic sensitive materials sense, measure, and detect changes in the position, temperature, displacement, electrical current, and multiple parameters of industrial equipment.
different types include hygrometers and moisture meters (for measuring moisture), gyroscopes (for measuring rotation), current or voltage sensors, pressure sensors, position sensors, level sensors and flow sensors (for fluid management).
role of a sensor in a control and automation system is to detect and measure some physical effect, providing this information to the control system
main performance criteria for industrial sensors are sensitivity, resolution, compactness, long-term stability, thermal drift and power efficiency
