Guess who's excited to get their ballot in the mail tomorrow? Me! So I slapped together a quick comic, as well as a map based off of this and this. A list of when same day registration is available is at the bottom of this article.

But also: wow, early voting stuff is so confusing! For example, I get my ballot in the mail tomorrow, and I can immediately mail it back. But if I want to drop it off in person, I need to either go to a special ballot drop box by city hall, or wait for early in-person voting sites to open, which isn't until Oct 22nd for my state.

Or like, early voting in Louisiana is apparently from Oct 16 to Oct 29th? And then there's a week of no voting, and then polls open again on Nov 5th? Or like how the only day you can register and then immediately vote is Oct 26th?

Anyway, best way to figure out the info for your area is to check your state and county's election website. I've found usvotefoundation.org to have clear fact sheets for each state (including ID requirements, polling location finders, as well as direct links to state election websites): https://www.usvotefoundation.org/state-voter-information . You can also jump to each state's election websites via usa.gov, or by searching directly, though some websites are more confusing than others.

so a while back i made a sorta-timeline of h2o's first season, and i even went as far as to study up on the australian school year, and then from that - i made a guess of when the school year started in s2 based off the full moon in the first ep (february 5th)

which then led me to guess the first days of school in the eras of season 1 and season 2 (february 6th and february 4th respectively) just because

and then when i looked at it again, i realized that meant rikki seriously started beef with not just zane, but also miriam and lewis in like the first week of school

rikki stole zane's spark plug because he was a pig. she and miriam were hostile to each other in ep two. and then in that same ep, lewis says he and rikki had their "issues" in the past, which ? i want to know more

like. what did rikki and lewis even do to get on each other's bad side? does that have to do with why cleo was so awkward, when rikki asked how she knew her name?

So she’s not PUBLISHED yet, but I feel like I’m constantly giggling twirling my hair kicking my feet at my campaign manager anakin au aka exploiting the body politic au because it’s just so silly. literally almost too silly to function. they’re all snippy to each other and it’s honestly me reliving a lot of my sophomore year college days lol except anakin is trying to seduce a lot more housewives than I did

I really wasn’t sure how or where I wanted to start the campaign manager fic when it was time to put it into a fic document - there are just so many good moments I want to hit. I’m honestly 100% sold about starting the fic with anakin introducing himself (because I find me funny) but I also definitely considered starting after obi-wan and anakin have met and are in the middle of all their sexual tension and also their campaign

I figured that’s going to have a lot of fun moments, like for example as obi-wan’s self-assigned campaign manager, anakin is at least partially responsible for obi-wan’s image so he can sign him up for random things that are basically hell on earth as punishment for? slamming him up against a wall? or letting him go from said wall?? even anakin doesn’t know what he’s most upset by. But he knows for sure that making obi-wan do a hot Pilates class is exactly the kind of suffering he deserves

it's. augh. so 15th century cardinals functioned as princes of the catholic church, for diplomatic reasons, right. but there's a weird. theological space. happening. that makes me go 😬 with some of these guys because it's like. so a family marries off one of their sons to the catholic church, and they do it because its a good political move, to make sure that one of their sons is in the jaws of the vatican, because that's where the wider political theater is playing out. it's a good idea to have a representative of your family and your regions interests attached to the body of the pope. it's a good idea to have a son in the vatican in case something happens with the main family back home, one last hold to power. I'll go into this in more detail at a later date, but as a snapshot of proof that I'm not making up poetic sounding phrases re: referring to cardinals as princes of the church:

so!!! the thing is! when you marry off a son to the catholic church, they're married to god's vicar on earth, so the pope demands their allegiance first because your loyalty should go first to god (in actuality it's the pope bc the catholic church is a political court etc), and now it's all a mess.

anyway! giovanni colonna! is he praying or is he trying to figure out how to talk his way out of this mess? who knows! maybe both!! if I think too much about how his family sided against the the pope after giovanni was made cardinal, and how giovanni had to defend himself saying that he wasn't responsible for the actions of his family, but it didn't work out, so he was imprisoned and then jailed in the castel sant'angelo (do you ever think about how rome is a jail. like, rome is a jail, the vatican is a prison, you have to live in this place because a cardinal out of rome is like a fish out of water, but at any given moment, it can also become a cell, so really rome and the vatican are a mouth and its asking you to walk onto it's tongue) for a year. he was ~26 when that went down!!!!! I'm trying to imagine navigating that at 28 and it makes me want to walk right into the ocean and not come out of it.

I’ve said it before but it rubs me the wrong way that some people only take their cues when it comes to important world events from celebrities rather than people at the forefronts of those issues. pro tip for my american followers thinking about the fuckery next year will bring, i offer u one strategic move in your repertoire, that u may not know about:

some states have open presidential primaries. that means you can vote in the republican primary even if you're registered as a democrat. when you show up to your polling place, they will simply ask you which ballot u want:

Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont, Virginia, Wisconsin

~*~you are totally allowed to vote for a republican that is not trump in the republican primary just to get him off the ballot~*~ -- **even if you wouldn't be caught dead voting for that same person in the general election**.

you can only vote in one primary, so if the democratic primary heats up and you want to vote in that one, then by all means go ahead, you can literally change your mind as you wait in line to vote if you want. but if not, STILL SHOW UP TO VOTE AND TAKE THE REPUBLICAN BALLOT (if you're in an open state)

YOU DO NOT HAVE TO SIT AROUND AND WATCH THE REPUBLICANS PUT TRUMP ON THE GENERAL BALLOT AGAIN! VOTE HIS ASS OFF THE ISLAND

got into yet another fight with my mom, again about voting/the election, she said that she’s only voted once in her life and never cares to again because she ‘doesn’t care about politics’, saying that shit almost proudly?? and it set me off for obvious reasons, then she got mad at me for saying it’s because she’s privileged and ‘most’ shit doesn’t affect her directly so she can afford ‘not to care’

With the American election going down rn (and me watching from the sidelines as my American friends are understandably stressing out, I am rooting for y’all so fiercely) this is a good reminder to us Canadian folks that our federal election is next year and there are currently provincial/municipal/territorial elections going on so be sure to check for the dates on those! I know it’s not as grandiose as the federal election, but those small elections still have power and will possibly effect you even more personally than the federal one.
