HOME COOKING // Simple meals with @evergreenfoods.au egg noodles with dumplings two ways: boiled & pan-fried, minced pork balls & @luvaduck ‘s cooked confit duck leg (air-fried this at 180 degrees for 15 minutes then 200 degrees for 5 minutes). So glad to get fresh egg noodles and wanton wrappers from @evergreenfoods.au - available from @woolworths_au - not an ad but yay for the Asian fridge section. We have come a long way to have Asian ingredients stocked at the major supermarkets. There were simply not that many choices / food diversity at the major supermarkets compared to back when I first arrived here 16 years ago and you would definitely have to get these items from Asian grocers - which even then would be hard to find fresh egg noodles. [warning: mental illness, hospitalization, trauma]

i am not good with september-october, because the past three years ended with me having a severe breakdown, varying degrees of harm, and getting hospitalized. it is not that bad things have never happened in other times of the year, but they haven't had another event that coincides with it.

last year was super bad. it has left an extremely negative impact on me, and left me really traumatized and i never really processed it. never do with these kind of things.

it is hard to know how bad it was until you have a degree of separation from it, and that is when it really hits you--and usually, it means you will relapse badly, or maybe that just might be me. i tend to have delayed reactions and those reactions tend to cost everything.

even so, it is always about moving forward, no matter what.

i recently got out again, and i feel like i am already slipping back. i never really change. all i do is lie and kid to myself that i can be any different.

i have done that many times before.

there's no noun there so I assume u mean me, and the short answer is: willpower, spite, luck, and having a family who's ALSO made of wet eggnoodles so we look out for each other

the long answer is: my sister is legitimately disabled while I'm just chronically ill (like, I can still function in public 85% of the time with medication and carefully planned movesets lol) so as a result she knows a shit ton abt medication and the effects therein. I work fulltime so she doesn't have to subject her fragile immune system to an uncaring public, and I get a cool roommate who knows if my head is fucking exploding. I also work fulltime WITH my other sister who has less issues than either of us, so she carries some of the brunt when my roomie-sis and I are down for the count. its a complex balancing act between family members, essentially.

i do not like insecurity.

it has a gross feeling to it. i do not like that sudden wave of heightened concern: does this person hate me?--why did they move away slightly?--i speak too much and they must think i am annoying.

it makes me feel obnoxious, i suppose. self-centered and all that.

i feel the urge bubbling up to ask for reassurance a lot. i always try to quell it. it isn't always fair to ask people that, or expect them to do so. it can put them in an awkward or uncomfortable position. asking too frequently can be (or is) problematic.

it also can open the floodgates of becoming more emotional (of any kind). i don't like that. it makes me feel pathetic and weak. it can also feel guilty, since most people aren't equipped to respond to that.

on a deeper level, i don't like it because it makes me feel like a child (or like a dog). i don't like having to be dependent on people. i don't believe in my resolve or strength, that i am like an adult or can try to be; so, i try to hide and bury it away instead.

look better instead of being better.

i have many flaws, so i get scared other people can see them too.

the more successful i am at hiding them, the more worried i become.

when i am disliked or rejected, it still burns like scalding water being dumped over me, and i am torn between petty indignation and overwhelming sadness.

i don't like being criticized and i want people to like me; but when they do like me, i can't help but wait for the other shoe to drop.

when will they see the person i really am? the one i have to live with everyday? that person who disgusts me so utterly.

even if i am not the worst -- or that bad in the grand scheme of things -- i wonder if it matters at all. i hate being human altogether. i don't like basic aspects about it; i don't like having needs and desires, even simple ones, like eating and sleeping.

i don't like constantly having to chase after things. i don't like the building tension, release, catharsis; i don't like that never-ending cycle there is in day-to-day life. i don't like that life is a roller-coaster of ups-and-downs -- sometimes happy, sometimes sad.

maybe i am too tired. i dislike discomfort so much.

at times, it is like i need to peel open and claw out of my skin. i am not even joking or exaggerating, really.

i don't know myself, because i think the "self", whatever that may be, is fragmented and made up a bunch of different things, so it is hard to be whole or feel like you are. a person is also constantly shifting and changing, so it never truly stagnates.

i am so disconnected to my body; it is like i live in a haze, dreamlike world sometimes.

always observing, always self-conscious, always over-thinking about everything.

never really there.

i don't like it.
