Deep in the ocean, mermaids can take on extreme forms, divorcing themselves from human mimicry for the sake of survival.

The Gulper Eel Mermaid has jaws that take up the entire length of their torso, repurposing arms to support long, thin bones lined with tiny teeth. While the prevailing theory is that the large jaw allows them to consume prey many times their size, they have been known to open their mouth for a different purpose. By filling their baggy body with water, this mermaid swells up to an intimidating size. Other creatures think twice about tangling with what appears to be an immense predator of pure muscle.

Not much is known for certain, as these beings are reclusive; even from other mermaids. They're very sensitive, you see. Perhaps one day we will liaison with them and learn of their culture.

For now, they keep to the depths.

X-men got me brainrotting so much I made an OC for it RAHHHHHH

Her name is Fenna! She is Dutch and has. One weird mutation. Her brief backstory is under the cut for anyone curious!

Feena is a mutant born in the Netherlands, her mutation appearing when she hit puberty with her body forming scales, fins and a manipulation of electricity emanating within her body akin to an eel.

Once her parents found out of her mutation, she was sent away in hopes of getting rid of it, however instead of receiving help she was put in a laboratory which tested mutants and their abilities. Her particular testing resulted in her mutation evolving faster, which resulted in her fins growing bigger, her scales now fully covering her entire body and her electricity increase in power.

She remained in this facility for many years, until she was saved by a child who was also taken there and formed a friendship with her. He managed to break her free from her tank and they escaped through the sewers into a lake nearby. However they were quickly separated during the chaos and so Feena in her form remained in the water, going from lake to lake and eventually even reaching the sea.

After a long time of living by herself in the water she finds herself in a lake in Germany, having travelled from country to country using their sewer systems, causing some rumours of a sea monster to be invading villages and inhabiting their nearby lakes. Which catches the attention of Kurt Wagner, a mutant too and the two eventually meet after he inspects the lake next to his monastery. Not long after that, Feena is taken in by the X-Men and joins their cause.

Her abilities consist of her having the ability to transform her legs into a long eel tail, breathing underwater and the ability to discharge a powerful charge of electricity. She's also immune to electric attacks of any kind, instead it gives her a powerboost.

However her emotions are heavily connected to her mutation, if too distressed she will automatically turn into her eel form.
