If you are a pro-Palestinian feminist of any kind, liberal or radical, and you are ignoring or somehow rationalizing/downplaying Hamas raping women and spitting on their bodies, please walk backwards off of a cliff.
Rape isn't resistance, fuck off. You don't care about "human rights". You want vengeance and bloodlust.

This is not a perfect analogy but I am making it anyway to try to convey what being online has been like for me lately.
Seeing people say "Oh, Jews are fine, I just hate zionists!" is like seeing "Oh, women are fine, I just hate feminists!"
Zionism and feminism are both very broad socio-political movements that have changed focus over time, that ostensibly have some very basic core tenets but you really need to ask the specific person you're talking to how they personally define it to be sure.
Both have been subject to legitimate criticism, and hostile reactionary bullshit. Had waves, sub-movements, splinters, people with damn near opposite views sharing the term and people with seemingly identical views rejecting it.
You can give working, broad definitions like these:
Feminism is the belief that all people should be treated equally regardless of gender, with a focus on women's rights due to systemic oppression.
Zionism is the belief that all peoples have the right to self determination and safety, with a focus on Jewish people finding it in Israel.
You can also give different definitions! Many people give different definitions! Many people also hold these beliefs but use different names for them for various reasons.
There are self-described zionists who are jingoistic, racist, etc, and who attribute those attitudes to their zionism. Just as there are feminists who are misandrist, bio-essentialist, transphobic, homophobic, and so on, who attribute those attitudes to their feminism.
There are also incredibly selfless, compassionate activists working for positive change in the world who consider themselves zionists and feminists.
It has been very jarring to see people, who I respect, uncritically reblogging posts or headlines that use "zionists" as a stand in for "bad people", just as jarring as it would be to see them sharing things that use "feminists" that way. Especially when those posts contain easily debunked conspiracy theories that I know you'd have seen right through if the OP said "Jews" but because they said "zionists" you swallowed it whole.
I am not asking anyone to stop sharing important information, petitions, news articles, resources, and so on. I am asking you to slow down and stop spreading inflammatory language that paints a broad socio-political movement for Jewish self-determination as inherently bad. The same way I would ask you not to spread inflammatory language that paints gender equality & women's liberation as inherently bad.
If the information is important, please look for other, more neutrally worded posts. Or verify the links yourself and make a fresh post! There is no situation online in which the only way to share information must be to spread such language.

Today, we remember 12-year-old Muhammad.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
On this day, 24 years ago, Jamal al-Durrah fought to shield his 12-year-old son, Muhammad, from a storm of Israeli bullets that rained down for 40 agonizing minutes in Gaza.
Despite their cries for help, soldiers callously shot Muhammad in the stomach, where he then bled to death in the arms of his father.
This was 24 years ago.
Just 11 months ago, in October of 2023, Jamal lost two of his other children after IOF airstrikes targeted their home in Gaza.
The occupation has been terrorizing Palestinians for decades.

The most telling thing about Zionists is about how they will excuse the conditions that Palestinian prisoners are subjected to because they are allegedly "terrorists."
Because even if they were terrorists (we all know that they aren't but Israel wont admit that) that is not how prisons should work??? All humans deserve a fair trial, yes, even if they were supposedly a terrorist. All humans deserve a good diet, yes, even if they were supposedly a terrorist. All humans deserve a prison free from torture, yes, even if they were supposedly a terrorist. All humans deserve to be treated like a human, yes, even if they were supposedly a terrorist.
I live in the UK. If someone is sent to prison for murder, they would be allowed a fair trial, an appropriate diet, a stay completely free from torture, and are always allowed to retain their human rights. Do these things always happen? No, and the prisons are supposed to be investigated and punished when they don't. Do you know why? Because criminals, and yes, terrorists, are human beings, and human beings have human rights.
I can not fucking emphasise how much EVERYONE, and I mean EVERYONE, even the most despicable and vile people on the planet, should be allowed a fair trial. But that's not what happens to Palestinian prisoners whether they are a regular criminal, a "terrorist" or a civilian yanked off the street by the IDF.
They are systematically tried in a military court with a 90-99% conviction rate. Trials are held in Hebrew, which most Palestinians are not fluent in. Palestinians are allowed to be imprisoned for up to 6 months without trial. Compare that to the UK's 14 days. And those imprisonments can be extended every 6 months for another 6 months, leaving many Palestinians imprisoned indefinitely. Their charges are hidden to both them and their lawyers, leaving them struggling to understand how to appeal to the courts. This happens to teenagers. This happens to children.
"The teenagers that are arrested are being trained to be terrorists!" Then the teenagers should be sent to a juvenile prison, receive a support and safety network, rehabilitation, protection and a way to escape whoever is allegedly training them to be a terrorist. But that's not what happens. Racism, abuse and torture is what happens.
"But the people arrested are terrorists!" Surprisingly controversial take but I don't think that a terrorist deserves to be held indefinitely without a trial or charge and be given a biased and unfair trial, if one even happens. And let's be honest with ourselves, shall we? 99.99% of the "terrorists" in Israel's prisons for Palestinians aren't terrorists.
TLDR: Torturing terrorists is bad, actually, and terorrists do in fact deserve human rights and fair trials. Notice how Israel doesn't afford human rights to the Palestinians they claim are terrorists? It's because Israel doesn't consider terrorism a crime, it considers being Palestinian a crime.

for those wondering why i have been mostly quiet regarding israel and palestine: most of the pro-palestine stuff i come across is dismissive of hamas' horrors, blatantly antisemetic in parts, and generally conflates the israeli population with their government. or worse, treats them as a monolith; it is true that there are many israelis mocking the people their soldiers are destroying. it is NOT true that all of israel doesn't care and is just totally cool with what's going on. i will share what i find of israel's atrocities, but i will not make my jewish followers feel unsafe for shit they had nothing to do with. most of the stuff i've seen that *does* acknowledge the horror is jewish bloggers who have spent much of their life advocating for palestine, now having to struggle against antisemetics coming to them, furious that they DARE to be upset at the lost israeli lives. as though they are not allowed to mourn for both sides. as though they are not allowed to be horrified by what has happened; that they can ONLY be worried for palestine and how the attack was the perfect excuse for israel to double down. i refuse to send even more hatred their way by spreading their grief further into the void; you never know Exactly who's following your follower's followers. i am glad, at least, that nobody i follow was outright celebrating. but i know that people WERE, and now they're trying to act like that never happened. so incase this wasn't clear, cheering on the deaths of Israelis does not fucking help palestine.
I am truly disgusted with the blatant racism and colonialism that manifests israel's very core. it is an attempt at a violent ethnostate, intent to not only destroy the people it seeks to replace, but fully erase them from history. i am also disgusted with the way that the left is happy to celebrate genuine terrorism if it's committed "for the right side", as if parading dead bodies and raping people does fucking ANYTHING good. as if that doesn't fuel the israeli government's chances for propoganda. as if it hasn't traumatized your jewish neighbors. there are no fucking winners in war. free palestine and protect your muslim AND jewish friends in this time, they are BOTH getting their shit kicked in by ignorant people who want to take out their anger on some random kid in ohio. we are all posting in anger here. but let's check ourselves before we post; misinformation and antisemitism weakens our voices. Edit for clarity: this post is for my mutuals. I am specifically asking my mutuals to think carefully about what they post; i am aware that i've been too quiet, and i am trying to remedy that. i am also warning my jewish and muslim followers that if you've been using my blog as a safe spot to not think about it for a little bit, you're gonna wanna block the tags below. 'horrible things' will usually do it. i am also venting about how every jew i follow is getting hit with the "die you stupid zionist" shit from coward anons who can't tell the difference between supporting israel and just being fucking concerned for your family over there. it's fucked.

every so often i think about how if i ever make a post or something that blows up, i'll immediately be harassed en masse by people claiming i'm a zionist
#i've seen the people you call zionists and that's when i know we're not speaking the same english#1) every time it's about someone who *isn't* pro-israel and/or *is* pro-palestine:#but what they *are* is somebody who condemns hamas or mourns 10/7 or calls out antisemitism or thinks israelis are normal people#defensive anti-propoganda on tumblr (where the majority opinion seems to be that israel and *anything and anyone remotely connected to it*-#-is Pure Evil) is not indicative of somebody's full opinions or their other actions#do you know how many progressive jews debate with pro-israeli-government jews offline and in more prominently jewish spaces?#no. because there's no room here to talk about any of that#not when discussion is seen as co-conspiring and the only real action is extreme action#jews *are* a close-knit community and a lot of jews probably don't feel comfortable airing their arguments within the community#because there's also a general feeling that regardless of our actual politics people are going to consider us a monolith and-#-be antisemetic across the board. this is a feeling that does not originate from but was heavily reinforced by the Holocaust.#2) i don't know how good of an idea it is to say this so bluntly but it's sorta horrifying how easily people will just say 'X is a zionist'#and expect that one word to carry so much meaning that no other explanation is required.#Zionist. Evil. Stay away.#i'm so fucking exasperated and disappointed#not only does *actual* zionism come in many different forms functionally#but the word means *nothing* when you use it to mean so many different things *which do not all hold the same weight*#blast babbles#jumblr#i/p#sorta#ask to tag#regarding the actual post here...#i'm not a zionist#i'm not an antizionist#i'm not comfortable trying to stick a label that's bigger than me over my name#i don't have any illusions that people will judge my opinions fairly either way#just don't say that i'm something i'm not#just because i say some of the same things as people you don't like#gonna have reblogs off but replies on. feel free to chip in.
