if this was inevitable. what was the point. a brief freedom? only for it to be taken. i can't stop thinking abt ct. and wp. and just. my friends. my friends! 'oh but they're not dead or gone' it feels that way! which ig is unhealthy too right?! so dissociated it feels like loss. that's what people would say. 'don't grieve them they're not absent' then why does it feel that way huh? why?
and then. i don't know what happened. what possibility is true. i might never know. and it might happen again. to us. to me. if i or anyone else takes a perceived misstep. i am so fucking sad. so fucking afraid. of what it meant, what it means. what happens next.

I love so much the way that Baron is a reflection of Riz. It's not just a creepy way of introducing the character, it's a portrayal of their dynamic in a way I don't think I've seen anyone talk about yet (perhaps for lack of a search on my end).
Starting pretty obvious, Riz has the entire world to experience. He has friends, he has family, there's locations, there's lives independent of him. The only things he doesn't have, generally speaking, are his father and the presence of a romantic partner. Meanwhile, those two things are all Baron has. The entirety of Baron's existence consists of nothingness save for its romance partner and its stark father (yes, it/its Baron. Sue me).
Then, of course, there is the mirroring of motivations. Not direct goals, maybe passions would be a better word in Riz's case? Regardless, Riz's passion is to be an investigator. He wants to find the hidden truths, the facts buried within layers of falsities and misdirects. And Baron? Baron very directly wants Riz to lie. It's existence is founded on, and expanded by, lies. It directly tells Riz that it wants him to make up information. There's no thrill of discovery, no red herrings to disguise the lies as truth. Riz wants to find hidden truths, and Baron wants to hear direct lies.

Absolvují pět měsíců extrémní fyzické zátěže, spánkové deprivace a ohromného psychického tlaku pod ostrým dohledem veřejnosti a médií. Je to Survivor, akorát v nablýskaných šatech.

I just really want to know what the fuck was going through these writers’ heads, because the entire Robby/Zara situation is just bizarre. They make a point of re-establishing Robby does not drink, and then they show him having multiple, strong alcoholic drinks he would have zero tolerance for. They show him being so drunk he is unable to talk and barely able to stand. They show him sit back down and continue drinking. They show Zara eyeing this entire situation, and approaching him. Then they flash forward to the next morning, and Robby stumbles out of Zara’s hotel room. He says he can’t remember what happened. Zara kisses him and he stands there unmoving and unresponsive. He stumbles away confused and dazed and sad.
Like. There is not any ambiguity in what happened here. There is no world in which any of what they depicted qualifies as a consensual interaction, and they went out of their way to show that it wasn’t. But then they just…turn around and blame Robby for it and call it cheating. So why did they even bother? If they wanted Robby to cheat on Tory, they could have had him unambiguously cheat on her. They could have had him sober and knowingly go home with Zara. They could have shown them being both tipsy but not wasted going back to the hotel together. They could have had Zara just kiss him at the bar where Tory could see it. They had so many other avenues if they really wanted to have Tory/Robby “cheating” drama, so why did they do this? The only explanation I can think of is that they didn’t want to completely vilify Robby, so as an out they had Zara take advantage of him. But then that means they know unequivocally it was sexual assault and still knowingly chose to a) include it and b) frame it as anything but. Which is maybe even worse.
