oh i legit got into it a couple months back about that and had a whole bunch of 16 yr olds who have spent 0 time doing anything creative or productive for fandoms trying to ratio me abt it, so i just stopped posting my gifs on there like lol. good gifmaking will die out some day and everyone will have to stick with their blurry run-through-a-website shit or videos themselves, but i hate that account and everyone that's so catty abt people ~daring to ask for credit~ on smth they took the time to make like lol. the whole 'it's not your video.' well yeah no duh, the people who made it got PAID to do that. the least you could do for people who spend time and resources to make it accessible and fun to rewatch/look at for FREE is credit or not be a bitch but. twitter and even ppl on here these days are incapable of that. it's so goofy too bc on a platform like twitter... quotetweeting exists... so you can just. quote the initial person who made it with whatever joke you want to make or WHATEVER instead of saving and reposting. like it is SO stupid to me. every person who makes things gets that they don't Own the source material, but it's the right thing to do to credit ppl.

social media will eventually become just ppl talking at each other with 0 creativity or insight to add to anything bc they will run off creators of every kind. i see writers frustrated. i see fanartists frustrated. everyone's tired of the flippancy and entitlement bred on the internet these days. yeah gifmaking doesn't necessarily take As Long as other forms of fandom contribution (unless ur computer is a dinosaur like mine in which case it sometimes does), but it still is a set of skills and a process that most ppl don't know how/aren't willing to do to create an end product we can all enjoy without having to Save full videos of smth or go recall the whole game/video/whatever up. it's depressing to see and it will make me mad every time. the idea that the onus is on the creator and not just ppl to learn to be mindful of where they get shit like... you can tell who was raised on the better internet and who's brain is being morphed by this current wasteland.

I just want to put out a word of warning that The Ultimate Guide to Barbie from A360 Media is not a reliable source for Barbie facts. I noticed multiple errors, such as referring to Francie as Frannie.

Some random dolls are used as part of Barbie's family tree to represent Barbie's aunt and grandmother. The text refers to her appearance in a Barbie movie, so why not use an image from the movie? Again, poor research skills. Or maybe laziness. Another aunt is represented by what appears to be a Sims character.

This magazine also uses a non-Barbie doll (Mommy to Be Judith) to represent Pregnant Midge. This is a VERY common mistake, but it shows poor research skills.

There's also the usual Bild Lilli slander, but that's to be expected.

I've had a vague urge to get more into Shakespeare for years; what are the top 3-5 plays you'd recommend that AREN'T Hamlet or Much Ado? And what version of each is your favorite?

(sorry for omitting two god tier ones but I've already seen David Tennant in each of those and I surmise that you're insane about both so I'm looking for some new plays)

gonna be some basic bitch answers but here:

macbeth - the tragedy of macbeth (2021) movie adaptation starring denzel washington. this movie is fucking stunning and the way they did the witches was SO good. also i have the throne of blood (kurosawa's adaptation) also on my watchlist since i've heard REALLY good things about it

richard ii - 2013 rsc production w/ david tennant (link). he gives me catastrophic gender envy, i need to become more masculine to become more feminine etc. ben whishaw in the hollow crown series (link) is great too

romeo and juliet - romeo + juliet (1996) movie adaptation directed by baz luhrmann. this is like, the most well known romeo and juliet and you might've watched it already but i'm listing this anyway because there will never be a better mercutio and the way they did the setting is SO fucking funny and inspired

twelfth night - so far only saw this one Outside On The Grass Where They Performed This At My College but i liked it a lot... reccing the 2012 globe production with mark rylance (part 1 / part 2) (his hamlet was one of dt's favorites as an aspiring actor) (i'm putting my faith in letterboxd and david's taste for this one)

coriolanus - 2014 donmar production w/ tom hiddleston (on archive.org). this is directed by josie rourke, who also directed dt/ct's 2011 much ado! the staging and the effects are fucking awesomeeee (also peter de jersey and elliot levey are in this, i love them)

also shoutout to the ones i want to watch:

the 2016 production of a midsummer night's dream w/ ncuti gatwa (i have found nowhere to pirate it and i might just crack and pay the 10 dollars to watch it)

the 2015 production of the love's labour's lost w/ edward bennett (he played laertes in hamlet (2009) and he's REALLY underrated, i love his benedick SO FUCKING MUCH even if that production overall was a little dull)

either hollow crown's or greg doran's henry iv (it's two whole plays i need so much time to watch that. and ideally i want to watch both lol)

vishal bhardwaj's omkara (2006), an adaptation of othello set in india

TF2 related lost media - animatic about Scout grappling with Spy being his dad set to the song 'Please Don't' by K. Will

back in 2018, i watched this TF2 animatic that was about Scout going through all the motions of dealing with Spy marrying his mother and being his dad. it was a really well made animatic, it had this beautifully illustrated inked style on a yellowed paper background, and it was set to the song 'Please Don't' by Korean artist K. Will. unfortunately though, it seems to have since either been privated or deleted and i can't find it anywhere, nor do i have the URL for it at the moment. the only evidence i have of its existence is the thumbnail, which was saved to my old Samsung phone when i downloaded the audio of the animatic (but not the video unfortunately).

i can't remember who uploaded or illustrated the video, but i do have the title. it's "TF2 Please don't Parody" with some Korean text at the end that translates to the same thing. i think it would have been uploaded to YouTube at least 8-9 years ago.

if it helps, here are some details i remember from the video:

the image is of a scene where all the other mercs are getting dressed for Spy's wedding, but Scout isn't present. i think after this is a shot of Spy looking worried/saddened by Scout's absence.

there's a scene where Scout tears apart a photo of Spy, himself and his mum and puts Spy closer to himself (perhaps symbolically showing that he wishes he were closer to his dad)

similarly, there's a scene where Scout's mum is noticeably upset by Scout's absence during the wedding preparations, but i can't remember what specifically Scout is absent from.

there's a scene of Scout driving in his car with a serious look on his face, and then later in the video, the same scene appears later, except he's crying and stops the car.

i think there's a scene where Scout is looking at his mum and Spy either having a laugh together or preparing each other's wedding outfits from the other side of a wall or a door, and he just has this bereft look on his face.

the video has audio of a car driving at the end, and it lasts for about 10 seconds. it was probably taken from the original music video for the song used.

hopefully this video will turn up again or i'll find the user who uploaded it. it's a very nostalgic video to me and i'd love to see it again!!
