As a Royal, Holly takes her role as future Rapunzel very seriously. She adores and supports her Rebel sister Poppy as she finds her own story. Like a good big sister, Holly listens and gives great advice to her twin. Plus it’s great to have a sister help with your tower of hair!

Holly and Poppy O'Hair Headcanons
Holly’s full name is Holly Ivy O’Hair. Poppy’s full name is Poppy Hazel O’Hair.
Poppy uses she/they pronouns.
The twins were tower-schooled before attending Ever After High.
Holly is cursed to have all doors that close behind her magically lock her in. She has to keep her dorm room door wedged open. Poppy isn’t completely comfortable with this and prefers the door to be closed, but she lets Holly keep it open a crack.
Poppy was definitely one of those girls who cut up their dolls’ hair.
Holly has ADHD, which makes damsel-in-distress class really difficult for her even though it’s her entire story. She also has a one-track mind. Once she starts on a subject, she will not stop talking. She uses reading and writing as an outlet for all the things buzzing through her head.
Poppy is the shier of the two. She’s more of a listener than a speaker, which comes in handy when Holly goes on a passionate rant. The only time she has no difficulty socializing is when someone is in the barber’s chair.
Holly’s a researcher of old folktales and ancient civilizations. The Wicked Step-Librarians have had to lock her out of the library for sneaking in after curfew and not being able to get out.
While they are close, Poppy wants to carve her own identity separate from Holly. She doesn’t only want to be known as Rapunzel’s sister. She wants to make a name for herself and have an impact on other people as her own person.
Holly is a morning person. Poppy is not.
Holly is sometimes insecure over having so much hair. She can’t avoid stepping on it, getting it snagged on something, and sometimes dragging on the floor. She envies Poppy for being free to cut her hair.
Multiples run in their family. Their mother is also a twin. She has an older twin brother named Tarragon, but she got the Rapunzel destiny because she was female.
Holly has had a crush on all three Charming siblings at one point or another.
Poppy was closer with Nanny Nona than Holly. Holly was wild and fidgety, frustrating Nona to no end. Poppy was the calmer of the two and thus got along better with Nona. Holly and Nona still get frustrated with each other from time to time.
Poppy loves spicy foods. She’s almost obsessed with them.
Their music choices differ drastically. Holly likes country pop music. Poppy is more into punk rock. However, they both share the same favorite artist: Dolly Charmton. Poppy plays the song “Midnight to Noon” to get her pumped up in the morning.
Poppy’s a great climber. She sometimes goes beanstalk climbing with Jillian.
Holly is slightly taller than Poppy.
Rapunzel and her husband work as the fairytale equivalents of district attorneys. As such, Holly and Poppy don’t get to see their parents very often - especially their mom - and it’s why they were left in the care of Nanny Nona.
Holly does tutoring in Creative Writing.
Despite working in a literal barbershop, Poppy does not like barbershop music.
Holly does not do things halfway and always takes the long road. She struggles in areas that don’t interest her, but she’s reluctant to take shortcuts. Her mother drilled into her head that “you can’t climb a tower if your hair is too short.” But Poppy tries encouraging her to “work smarter, not harder”.
Poppy has a thing for “baddies”. She used to have a crush on Sparrow, but got over him quickly when she found out he preferred Holly over her. She also has feelings for Duchess despite knowing she was voted “Most Likely to Steal Your Destiny.” Deep down, she knows it’s a problem.
Holly theorized Daring wasn’t Apple’s Prince Charming but kept it to herself. The only person she told was Poppy. She was pretty happy when she found out she was right.
Both sisters are devoted dragon moms.
They’re both very nervous for when their destiny comes to pass. Holly is a bit wary of living a lie; that she’s technically stealing her sister’s destiny. She’s also having some pre-guilt about blinding her future prince. Poppy is doing everything in her power to keep anyone from finding out the truth, because she wants to keep the life she’s been building for herself.

Holly O’Hair
I never felt like I could get her re-design out of my head and into my art as well as I wanted also having to consider practicality! Draped in pearls and beads and pounds of hair yk her muscle game would be crazy but she also sits around and just writes all day so it balances out

More yap-sesh for EAH but please bear with me right now! As a huge EAH fan (I’ve been watching it since I was a kid) it had me in a chokehold as a little girlie, but now that I’m grown up I just realized that this little show for a franchise isn’t just all shits and giggles
Been through it since a kid but now that I’m interested in the lore I see fit to write down my thoughts and break them down to this blog (since first it was Apple’s hair color)
Too long episode yap-sesh;
Now what happened to the O’hair twins? Like from that one episode where Nanny nana (was that her name?) called Poppy (Holly’s sister) and privately announced to her that Poppy’s actually the one who’s 3 seconds older, not Holly— which meant that Poppy is the next Rapunzel, not Holly, AGAIN! In that episode we could see how down Poppy felt and how she had to deal with burden of the decision to keep what their nanny said, since obviously Poppy cared about Holly’s feelings and that could possibly hurt her
Poppy wanted to become just..someone else, while her sister is supposedly the next Rapunzel. But in the end, Poppy ended up telling Holly out of frustration and admission, in a straightforward fashion while Holly had disbelief painted on her face, but somehow they both managed to reason it out and kept the private news to just the both of them ONLY
But with the show having to come to a tragic cancellation, leaving us lore-freaks with floor-scratching cliffhangers. We want our questions answered! T T
I don’t remember, it’s all out of memory but Poppy did enroll to ever after high, wouldn’t that mean she had to sign the story book of legends as well? If it weren’t for the Way too Wonderland storyline happening?, thankfully not anymore but if she did had to sign, well that’s just bad!— considering the O’hair’s secret and Poppy’s struggle to fit in because she’s ‘different and basic’ compared to other students there and the constant pressure from Baba Yaga. the amount of relief I felt is incomprehensible when conflicts were resolved all because of the girls (Raven, Apple, Lizzie, Briar, Kitty n Maddie!!), which means yay! It’s safe for Holly to still become the next Rapunzel.
Overall, I love how Mattel created creative conflicts for each character. It makes me want to break them down one by one LMAO

Okay something that was a total missed opportunity was to have the daughter of dame Gothel to follow Holly everywhere. Like Holly living in tower except for her legacy year to sign. So the daughter of Gothel would companion Holly.

💜O'Hair Twins💗
I don't think this is my preferred redesign for them since this is the first time i draw them but I'm happy with how it came out💖
I struggled with Poppy specially because I want her to have a more colorful and fun style, specially because is a type of style that's difficult to pull off, but I wasn't really feeling the colors, so I just went with purple

Okay, not something I usually talk about but from what Ive seen
Why does Rapunzel only have one child in descendants(or is going to)? Like I understand if two was too much for Flynn and Rapunzel, if they are even together in Descendants. I don't see why they wouldn't..it's Disney's version of EAH pretty much, but like..did yall not read the original fairytale?
Like..Rapunzel had Twins IN THE ORIGINAL FAIRYTALE.
That's Why Holly and Poppy exist in EAH, because that follows the original fairy tale. Like I understand Disney cutting the darker elements of the original (like the prince falling into a thorn bush and becoming blind) but if you're going to make children for them, it'd make sense that you follow that aspect because Raps is one of(if not) the only fairytales with a Disney movie where the Princess actually had Kids in the original story!

Ayo shoutout to fairytale retellings that are written for actual preteens/young teens, here are some of my favorites;
Note note: These ones specifically are all appropriate for young audiences, say a hyperlexic little girl with ADHD who had The Hunger Games given to her in 3rd grade because her teacher couldn't keep up with her thirst for pages (just a nonspecific lil example :D) so if you're a parent or teacher reading this post I hope this helps!
Land of Stories by Chris Colfer- of course. What's not to love? I mean I lost a little steam in the last book (there's six) but heyyyy the first one can be read alone and then if you want more lore you can keep going if you wanna.
East by Edith Pattou- Ok fine, our main girl is giving a little bit of not-like-other-girls (Purple eyes? really?) but it's such a fun fucking reread, I feel like some of my superstitious things are validated when I do read it. East of the Sun and West of the Moon hasn't been retold to death so this is awesome.
Twice Upon a Time; Rapunzel, the One with All the Hair by Wendy Mass- Mouthful of a title but I STILL think back to this one all the time and laugh. It's short, it's cute, it's funny, they make the prince and Rapunzel into more normal kids, this one is a great light read. The other ones in the series are probably just as good.
Oh yeah forgot to mention these other books are THICK.
Just Ella by Margaret Peterson Haddix- I've been rereading this one since I was small and I still notice new things every time I read it. I'm so mad I marked up my copy because I have a gorgeous one from before they ruined the cover with modern art. If you look it up, I have the one where it's like half peeled back to show Ella as a peasant. Also a skinny book.
Ever After High's book series, mostly written by Shannon Hale- Did y'all know EAH had books when we were younger? Hale is one of my favorite authors, I ate these UP once I got my hands on all of them. Princess Academy was one of my favorites as a kid so finding these when I was like 11-12 was GREAT. They're long enough to keep me busy and super engaging. Ya gotta know- Briar's my favorite character in the books. Closely followed by Cedar.
Hale's Rapunzel's Revenge is SUPER good too. Graphic Novel. I'm a very huge Hale fan.
I can't think of any others right now but if I do I'll reblog and tack them on!
